Upward communication refers to the flow of information from lower-level to upper-level employees and is important for decision making by management. Some mechanisms for upward communication include suggestion boxes, employee surveys, MIS reports, face-to-face conversations, meetings, and sharing reports. The advantages of upward communication are that it aids in decision making, motivation, feedback, creating a favorable work environment, influencing new policies, building good relations, and understanding employee attitudes.
