Changes To Poster
I have changed the
font of this text to
make it stand out so
it is more easier for
the customer to read.
The first change I have made to my poster is located in the bottom half on
the red font. Most feedback I have gained on survey monkey was that they
don’t like the font and therefor I changed it.
Before After
Changes To Poster
Another big piece of advice I received was that I need to make the masthead
‘AMP’ stand out. Therefore I used to the dodge tool on Photoshop and only
selected the background layer to make the background lighter which will
bring out the darkness on the masthead.
Before After
Changes To Poster
Another piece of
advice I was
given was that
there is too much
information and
writing on the
page. Therefore I
took out some of
the main text and
this has already
made a massive
impact as the
main text writing
about the artists
is more spread
out.
Before After
Campaign Message
The message behind my poster is very simple, it is meant to be the
best and loudest festival in Europe which has come from the name
‘AMP’. This is backed up with the connotation of big and up there
with the best by these powerful word shortened from ‘amplify’.
The unique selling point of my festival would be that it is quite
small attendance wise. People will like to go to a smaller festival if
they don’t want to be too cramped and surrounded by hundreds of
thousands of people. Another high factor that people will
encounter is safety. As a customer you want to ensure that you will
be safe and will not be crushed. Before publishing any
advertisements, the company will want to make sure they are
conveying the right message. This would be mainly to have fun and
enjoy yourself.
To advertise for my event I chose to print posters. This may be quite
expensive however very effective as if you put the posters in busy,
public places lots of customers will be attracted.
Clients likes and dislikes
Evidence Of Pitch
Question 1 on my Survey
Monkey is ‘What do you
like about my poster?’.
This was a general
question open to
individual interpretation,
aiming to find out what it
is that strikes people
when they see the poster.
The majority of answers
involved the colours were
were good and ‘catches
attention’.
Question 2 on my survey is ‘What do you dislike about my
poster?’. Similar to question 1 this is an open question which
can be answered however you want. The majority of people
spoke about how there was a lot of information and its ‘too
busy’.
The main aim for this question is to find out how well the
colours match on my poster. 1 means the colours do not
match very well and 10 means the colours work really well.
On average, I scored 7.8 out or 10 which is quite good as it
means the red and black combination works well.
The main aim for this question is to find out how clear the text was
and easy to read on my poster. 1 means the text is not very clear and
10 measn the text is very clear. On average, I scored 8 out or 10 which
is quite good as it means the text is quite clear however I think some
of the text needs to be changed as it may not be as clear as it could be.
This question has been designed to find out wether or not the
background image looks professional. 58% of people said the image
looked very professional and 42% of people said the image looks just
professional. Therefore I am happy with my background image and do
not feel like this needs to be changed.
Survey Monkey – Likes / Dislikes
Likes Dislikes
Image catches attention. ‘AMP’ should stand out more.
Colours work well together. solid colour behind the artist names
Colours are bright. Use different fonts
It is striking in the red colour. ‘too busy’
‘got my attention’. Too much information
Text is clear to most
The background image looks very
professional.
Permissions:
When I took the images for my poster I had
to ensure that the artist gave their full
permission to being photographed and the
image being published on print media. To
do this I had to send an email to the artist
saying what they needed to wear, a time
and a location. I also attached a permission
form which they had to sign and send back
to me. By gaining a permission through this
way, I have declared proof of a signed
document. This means that if there are any
future legal issues, it would not be at the
fault of my poster.
Area Assessment:
When searching for the location of the
images there were many checks that
needed to be looked at in order to make
sure it was the right area. This risk
assessment had to be carried out to
guarantee safety for both the artist and
people taking the photographs. Areas that
should be looked at are slippery floors,
heights, hazards or uneven ground.
Safe Working Practices
Equipment
I have taken several images of the environment
where I conducted my pitch. I used a white board in
the center of the wall to display my pitch while I used
the small clicker to change the slide. I also used a
camera and tripod to record the pitch so there was
available video evidence of the whole thing.
Photos Used
I only used one photo in my poster. This is an image
of someone wearing a pair of glasses and holding a
guitar to their head. I used photo as the reflection of
the guitar strings gives a good effect.
Comparison Of Existing Products
The poster on the left is an already existing poster and the poster on the right
is the poster which I have created. Although they look very different due to
colours, images and texts; they are actually very similar because the features
are all in the same positions. For example the masthead is top middle and
main texts presenting artist are in the centre of the page.
Does it meet legal and ethical
requirements and how?
The Editors’ Code of Practice sets out the many rules that posters regulated by IPSO have agreed to follow. To the
left are three examples of the rules; Accuracy, Discrimination and Confidential Sources.
Outlook festival poster meets legal and ethical requirements. This is because the publishers will not have included
any content that has a potential to harm or offend someone. For example, racism or sexism.
This relates to my poster as AMP must follow these rules before publishing a poster. For example, number 12,
Discrimination. AMP must double check the whole poster including images and texts to ensure there is no
prejudice against ‘race, colour, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation or any physical or mental illness or
disability.
Poster
Conclusion
In conclusion, I completed many different tasks
for unit 15. The first task I completed involved
analyzing my survey monkey and making some
changes to my poster based on what the
audience would like to see. I also then went on
to explaining my campaign message and
analyzing my survey monkey results. I also
included safe working practices, equipment,
photos used, comparison of existing products
and ethical and legal issues.

Unit15 lo5

  • 1. Unit 15 – LO5 Lewis Millard
  • 2.
  • 3. Changes To Poster I have changed the font of this text to make it stand out so it is more easier for the customer to read. The first change I have made to my poster is located in the bottom half on the red font. Most feedback I have gained on survey monkey was that they don’t like the font and therefor I changed it. Before After
  • 4. Changes To Poster Another big piece of advice I received was that I need to make the masthead ‘AMP’ stand out. Therefore I used to the dodge tool on Photoshop and only selected the background layer to make the background lighter which will bring out the darkness on the masthead. Before After
  • 5. Changes To Poster Another piece of advice I was given was that there is too much information and writing on the page. Therefore I took out some of the main text and this has already made a massive impact as the main text writing about the artists is more spread out. Before After
  • 6. Campaign Message The message behind my poster is very simple, it is meant to be the best and loudest festival in Europe which has come from the name ‘AMP’. This is backed up with the connotation of big and up there with the best by these powerful word shortened from ‘amplify’. The unique selling point of my festival would be that it is quite small attendance wise. People will like to go to a smaller festival if they don’t want to be too cramped and surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people. Another high factor that people will encounter is safety. As a customer you want to ensure that you will be safe and will not be crushed. Before publishing any advertisements, the company will want to make sure they are conveying the right message. This would be mainly to have fun and enjoy yourself. To advertise for my event I chose to print posters. This may be quite expensive however very effective as if you put the posters in busy, public places lots of customers will be attracted.

  • 12. Question 1 on my Survey Monkey is ‘What do you like about my poster?’. This was a general question open to individual interpretation, aiming to find out what it is that strikes people when they see the poster. The majority of answers involved the colours were were good and ‘catches attention’.
  • 13. Question 2 on my survey is ‘What do you dislike about my poster?’. Similar to question 1 this is an open question which can be answered however you want. The majority of people spoke about how there was a lot of information and its ‘too busy’.
  • 14. The main aim for this question is to find out how well the colours match on my poster. 1 means the colours do not match very well and 10 means the colours work really well. On average, I scored 7.8 out or 10 which is quite good as it means the red and black combination works well.
  • 15. The main aim for this question is to find out how clear the text was and easy to read on my poster. 1 means the text is not very clear and 10 measn the text is very clear. On average, I scored 8 out or 10 which is quite good as it means the text is quite clear however I think some of the text needs to be changed as it may not be as clear as it could be.
  • 16. This question has been designed to find out wether or not the background image looks professional. 58% of people said the image looked very professional and 42% of people said the image looks just professional. Therefore I am happy with my background image and do not feel like this needs to be changed.
  • 17. Survey Monkey – Likes / Dislikes Likes Dislikes Image catches attention. ‘AMP’ should stand out more. Colours work well together. solid colour behind the artist names Colours are bright. Use different fonts It is striking in the red colour. ‘too busy’ ‘got my attention’. Too much information Text is clear to most The background image looks very professional.
  • 18. Permissions: When I took the images for my poster I had to ensure that the artist gave their full permission to being photographed and the image being published on print media. To do this I had to send an email to the artist saying what they needed to wear, a time and a location. I also attached a permission form which they had to sign and send back to me. By gaining a permission through this way, I have declared proof of a signed document. This means that if there are any future legal issues, it would not be at the fault of my poster. Area Assessment: When searching for the location of the images there were many checks that needed to be looked at in order to make sure it was the right area. This risk assessment had to be carried out to guarantee safety for both the artist and people taking the photographs. Areas that should be looked at are slippery floors, heights, hazards or uneven ground. Safe Working Practices
  • 19. Equipment I have taken several images of the environment where I conducted my pitch. I used a white board in the center of the wall to display my pitch while I used the small clicker to change the slide. I also used a camera and tripod to record the pitch so there was available video evidence of the whole thing.
  • 20. Photos Used I only used one photo in my poster. This is an image of someone wearing a pair of glasses and holding a guitar to their head. I used photo as the reflection of the guitar strings gives a good effect.
  • 21. Comparison Of Existing Products The poster on the left is an already existing poster and the poster on the right is the poster which I have created. Although they look very different due to colours, images and texts; they are actually very similar because the features are all in the same positions. For example the masthead is top middle and main texts presenting artist are in the centre of the page.
  • 22. Does it meet legal and ethical requirements and how? The Editors’ Code of Practice sets out the many rules that posters regulated by IPSO have agreed to follow. To the left are three examples of the rules; Accuracy, Discrimination and Confidential Sources. Outlook festival poster meets legal and ethical requirements. This is because the publishers will not have included any content that has a potential to harm or offend someone. For example, racism or sexism. This relates to my poster as AMP must follow these rules before publishing a poster. For example, number 12, Discrimination. AMP must double check the whole poster including images and texts to ensure there is no prejudice against ‘race, colour, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation or any physical or mental illness or disability.
  • 24. Conclusion In conclusion, I completed many different tasks for unit 15. The first task I completed involved analyzing my survey monkey and making some changes to my poster based on what the audience would like to see. I also then went on to explaining my campaign message and analyzing my survey monkey results. I also included safe working practices, equipment, photos used, comparison of existing products and ethical and legal issues.
