Evaluation Introduction As part of my unit Issues – A personal response, I was assessed to plan 2 overall outcomes. We started by looking at other contributors and what methods they used to give their message to their target audience. A major campaign we looked at was Bernados Silver Spoon. This showed us how adverts went about attracting attention for themselves. We made a PowerPoint presentation on a few issues we felt strongly about. We did 3-4 to presentations analyzing Bullying, Silver spoon and Road Safety.  As we progressed we set off to find our own issues to look into, my personal choice was Road Safety.  Planning Process Before I went into planning I made a small table showing how I would manage my time. We began planning our outcomes in a sketchbook and developed a large number of ideas such as Logos, Storyboards and other things I may want to include in my advert. As I progressed I made small boxes for my fellow students to make comments in regarding my work. I made notes on Legal and Ethical considerations. I was originally going to produce a Live action advert but I changed my mind and went into animation as I have experience of it and would be rewarding. In the end, aspects of my sketchbook were even included in the product itself. This was good as it shows evidence that I went through a planning process to create the characters.
Evaluation Outcome Process The images are hand drawn and scanned in. After that they are put  into Adobe Photoshop where they are manipulated then transferred over to  Adobe Illustrator.            2) The single image is resized to fit the frame, after that I clicked ”Object” and  scrolled down to “Live Trace” then clicked “Tracing Options”. (I made sure the image  was selected inside the blue box). My personal Tracing options were to have the Max  weight of the strokes at 0px so there isn't too much detail lost. I f needed, I would tweak the Threshold  If there was too much detail lost. After that the edited image  is then copied back to Photoshop.            3) The picture was pasted back into Photoshop and then colored with an added  Background. I then saved the file as a JPEG ready to be used in Adobe Premiere.            4) The frames were imported into Premiere and sequenced one after the other  making a simple animation. This is the best method I know of animating my advert.  I think I went about the animation process as well as I could in my abilities. Since I have found that illustration is my strong point, I can easily say that I was able to create images and characters to meet the target audience. The process took less than 2 weeks and turned out to be a success so I am happy with the method I chose.
Evaluation Review of Products TV Advert The TV advert was animated starring the character Yellow. I think it turned out very well and meets the expectations I aimed at. The use of colour was deliberately chose to attract attention from children which will make them watch and see what happens in the ad.  The process was well done in my opinion but there  Poster Campaign This is my outcome for a campaign I have produced about road safety. This poster was created to shock the audience yet it also has a humorous aspect to it. I felt that the colour scheme should be bright so it easily catches the eye of the audience. As I thought about this, I came up with the character “YELLOW” who serves as the mascot for the Road Aware campaign.  Were a few mistakes I could have worked on such as development of the voice recording and extra frames. Despite all of that, the product met the aim is set and came across as a child’s advert.  There was an issue regarding an unintentional use of bad language. Even though I did not deliberately say that word, it sounded very similar. However I had no time to amend this so we had to overlook it, since it is unintentional and isn't actually the word, it shouldn’t be a problem according to Legal and Ethical considerations. Despite the seriousness of this issue, I have found it rewarding to have a creative approach. The purpose of this poster is to raise awareness of this issue and how we can avoid becoming a victim of those who abuse road safety regulations. The weaknesses in this poster was the overuse of colour and there could have been more information regarding Road Safety. It turned out to be a good poster but I should take more consideration next time. Overall I think the products are successful  in my opinion, Afterwards I produced a Questionnaire to gather Feedback.
Evaluation Feedback Based on the feedback given by participants of my questionnaire, it shows that the poster is successful in terms of giving out the message. 16.7% strongly agreed that the poster successful fulfils its purpose which I am very pleased with. The remaining percentage chose Agree.  The second question was based on the opinions of others giving advise on what I could improve on regarding the Poster. One person said “More impacting words, such as Are and the word Aware again”, this suggests that the advert could have been a lot stronger in terms of effectiveness.  Others mentioned the seriousness and colour scheme.  I am personally happy with these suggestion s as they make me more aware of the aspects I could use if given the chance to produce more posters in future.  After that I asked if the poster gives out its message effectively.  This is pretty much the same as question  1 which I should of realised, but all the participants agreed that it is effective which is good. The next question asks if the character Yellow works well with the poster. All participants said yes, This is good as the character was intended to be a major aspect to my video and was crucial that he was approved. Question 5 moves on to the TV Advert.  The result here was half and half again. Some said strongly agree and some said agree. This is very pleasing as the advert had some faults.
Evaluation Feedback Question 6 asks if there is anything in the advert that could be improved. Some people commented on the narrator’s voice in which it should be more adult like. Some said the advert should be serious towards the end. These suggestions are useful as it tells me how I could go about giving the advert successful additions. The next question asks if the  choppy animation works well with the issue. Everyone agreed as the choppy animation suggests  silliness.  I deliberately animated in this style because I was influenced by similar adverts  such as Red Bull. The next questions asks opinions of the participants who they think the advert us aimed at. The responses differ a little but the majority said children, there were signs of teenagers too. Question 9 asks if my adverts will offend anybody. Luckily the responses said there is no offense in these adverts, this is something I looked at in my Legal and Ethical considerations such as Racism, Sexism, Disability, Age, or Physical appearance. I made sure I didn’t abuse any of these issues. The last questions ask the participants how well my work is. The choices were Bad, Ok, Good, Very Good. The majority of people either said good or very good which I am very pleased about. I know now that my advert is at industry standard. These responses are very pleasing as they meet my aims for my advert.
Evaluation Conclusion I am overall happy with my feedback and my outcome. I believe they are industry standard despite how many errors there are. Most of them would have been amended if I had the time. The work took me 12 weeks to complete. I have had a few ups and downs due to lack of attendance and the deadline drawing closer and closer.  When making the products I gained new skills such as Photoshop skills, Animation Skills, and so much more. I have enjoyed this unit it has been fun, If given the chance to do it again I would.  I am happy that I acquired these skills as they could prove useful for me in the future.

Evaluation

  • 1. Evaluation Introduction As part of my unit Issues – A personal response, I was assessed to plan 2 overall outcomes. We started by looking at other contributors and what methods they used to give their message to their target audience. A major campaign we looked at was Bernados Silver Spoon. This showed us how adverts went about attracting attention for themselves. We made a PowerPoint presentation on a few issues we felt strongly about. We did 3-4 to presentations analyzing Bullying, Silver spoon and Road Safety. As we progressed we set off to find our own issues to look into, my personal choice was Road Safety. Planning Process Before I went into planning I made a small table showing how I would manage my time. We began planning our outcomes in a sketchbook and developed a large number of ideas such as Logos, Storyboards and other things I may want to include in my advert. As I progressed I made small boxes for my fellow students to make comments in regarding my work. I made notes on Legal and Ethical considerations. I was originally going to produce a Live action advert but I changed my mind and went into animation as I have experience of it and would be rewarding. In the end, aspects of my sketchbook were even included in the product itself. This was good as it shows evidence that I went through a planning process to create the characters.
  • 2. Evaluation Outcome Process The images are hand drawn and scanned in. After that they are put into Adobe Photoshop where they are manipulated then transferred over to Adobe Illustrator.          2) The single image is resized to fit the frame, after that I clicked ”Object” and scrolled down to “Live Trace” then clicked “Tracing Options”. (I made sure the image was selected inside the blue box). My personal Tracing options were to have the Max weight of the strokes at 0px so there isn't too much detail lost. I f needed, I would tweak the Threshold If there was too much detail lost. After that the edited image is then copied back to Photoshop.          3) The picture was pasted back into Photoshop and then colored with an added Background. I then saved the file as a JPEG ready to be used in Adobe Premiere.          4) The frames were imported into Premiere and sequenced one after the other making a simple animation. This is the best method I know of animating my advert. I think I went about the animation process as well as I could in my abilities. Since I have found that illustration is my strong point, I can easily say that I was able to create images and characters to meet the target audience. The process took less than 2 weeks and turned out to be a success so I am happy with the method I chose.
  • 3. Evaluation Review of Products TV Advert The TV advert was animated starring the character Yellow. I think it turned out very well and meets the expectations I aimed at. The use of colour was deliberately chose to attract attention from children which will make them watch and see what happens in the ad. The process was well done in my opinion but there Poster Campaign This is my outcome for a campaign I have produced about road safety. This poster was created to shock the audience yet it also has a humorous aspect to it. I felt that the colour scheme should be bright so it easily catches the eye of the audience. As I thought about this, I came up with the character “YELLOW” who serves as the mascot for the Road Aware campaign. Were a few mistakes I could have worked on such as development of the voice recording and extra frames. Despite all of that, the product met the aim is set and came across as a child’s advert. There was an issue regarding an unintentional use of bad language. Even though I did not deliberately say that word, it sounded very similar. However I had no time to amend this so we had to overlook it, since it is unintentional and isn't actually the word, it shouldn’t be a problem according to Legal and Ethical considerations. Despite the seriousness of this issue, I have found it rewarding to have a creative approach. The purpose of this poster is to raise awareness of this issue and how we can avoid becoming a victim of those who abuse road safety regulations. The weaknesses in this poster was the overuse of colour and there could have been more information regarding Road Safety. It turned out to be a good poster but I should take more consideration next time. Overall I think the products are successful in my opinion, Afterwards I produced a Questionnaire to gather Feedback.
  • 4. Evaluation Feedback Based on the feedback given by participants of my questionnaire, it shows that the poster is successful in terms of giving out the message. 16.7% strongly agreed that the poster successful fulfils its purpose which I am very pleased with. The remaining percentage chose Agree. The second question was based on the opinions of others giving advise on what I could improve on regarding the Poster. One person said “More impacting words, such as Are and the word Aware again”, this suggests that the advert could have been a lot stronger in terms of effectiveness. Others mentioned the seriousness and colour scheme. I am personally happy with these suggestion s as they make me more aware of the aspects I could use if given the chance to produce more posters in future. After that I asked if the poster gives out its message effectively. This is pretty much the same as question 1 which I should of realised, but all the participants agreed that it is effective which is good. The next question asks if the character Yellow works well with the poster. All participants said yes, This is good as the character was intended to be a major aspect to my video and was crucial that he was approved. Question 5 moves on to the TV Advert. The result here was half and half again. Some said strongly agree and some said agree. This is very pleasing as the advert had some faults.
  • 5. Evaluation Feedback Question 6 asks if there is anything in the advert that could be improved. Some people commented on the narrator’s voice in which it should be more adult like. Some said the advert should be serious towards the end. These suggestions are useful as it tells me how I could go about giving the advert successful additions. The next question asks if the choppy animation works well with the issue. Everyone agreed as the choppy animation suggests silliness. I deliberately animated in this style because I was influenced by similar adverts such as Red Bull. The next questions asks opinions of the participants who they think the advert us aimed at. The responses differ a little but the majority said children, there were signs of teenagers too. Question 9 asks if my adverts will offend anybody. Luckily the responses said there is no offense in these adverts, this is something I looked at in my Legal and Ethical considerations such as Racism, Sexism, Disability, Age, or Physical appearance. I made sure I didn’t abuse any of these issues. The last questions ask the participants how well my work is. The choices were Bad, Ok, Good, Very Good. The majority of people either said good or very good which I am very pleased about. I know now that my advert is at industry standard. These responses are very pleasing as they meet my aims for my advert.
  • 6. Evaluation Conclusion I am overall happy with my feedback and my outcome. I believe they are industry standard despite how many errors there are. Most of them would have been amended if I had the time. The work took me 12 weeks to complete. I have had a few ups and downs due to lack of attendance and the deadline drawing closer and closer. When making the products I gained new skills such as Photoshop skills, Animation Skills, and so much more. I have enjoyed this unit it has been fun, If given the chance to do it again I would. I am happy that I acquired these skills as they could prove useful for me in the future.
