2. Environment of Presentation
These images were taken to display the
environment as to where my pitch took place, this
includes images of the camera that was used to
film my pitch, the controller that let me change
from slide to slide and the tripod which was used
to hold the camera that was used to film my pitch
in a straight position. this sort of environment was
suitable as this allowed me to complete my pitch
sufficiently.
The camera
that was
used to film
my pitch
The computer which has
the pitch that I am
presented on there .
The front of the room where my
pitch took place.
The tripod used to hold the
camera in its standing
position that was used to
film my pitch.
The presentation clicker
that was used to change
slides on my pitch.
3. Evidence of Pitch
Whilst my pitch was taking
place, it was filmed on a
camera which meant I was
able to see the footage of my
pitch once it was completed
and see what was good about
it and what improvements I
was given through the
feedback I had gained from
the teacher and the audience.
Below are
screenshots of the
witness statement,
this is a 3 page
document that
contains information
on what I included in
my pitch that was in
the mark scheme as
well as WWWs and
EBIs so what went
well in the pitch and
how could it have
been improved.
4. Materials Used
Materials that I used for my PowerPoint were:
• Microsoft PowerPoint: used to format and
organize the slides that were used in order for
me to present my pitch.
• Prezi: used to import all the slides from the
pitch PowerPoint, set them out in an organized
manner as this was used to present my pitch to
the audience and teacher.
I used the internet for various slides that were
featured on my pitch PowerPoint, for example, I
used the internet to find out equipment that will
be used for the production of the magazine as well
as the costs, I included all the references to the
websites that I found all the prices for each on in
order to display evidence that I did my own
research into equipment and cost. This is the same
thing I did for the staff and cost slide, provided the
lowest t salary each job role would get as the
production of the magazine has started.
7. Witness Statement Feedback(continued)
The previous slide and this slide
contain screenshots that have been
taken of the witness statement which
has key information about my pitch
so if I covered everything listed on
the mark scheme, what WWWs I have
been given so what went well with
the pitch and EBIs so how I could
improve on the pitch.
One of my WWWs as quoted on the
witness statement was “Presented
very well and obviously prepared in
much detail. Your magazines on-the-
whole are fantastic, especially your
second magazine.” which means that
I put my ideas across to the audience
very well and emphasised them in a
way for the audience to understand.
My EBI as quoted on the witness statement was “you need to fix some minor issues with front cover
and the DPS, in terms of image flatness." which means I need to improve my Photoshop and InDesign
skills that I have used on one of my front covers and one of my dps’s. This can easily be fixed through
the programs that I have used to create the front cover and dps for both magazine ideas.
8. Survey Monkey Feedback
The first question that required an answer for
feedback on my pitch was ‘On a scale of 1-10,
what ranking would you give my magazine
front covers ?1-worst/10-excellent’. The
average answer from all 11 respondents was 7
out of 10 for a ranking on my magazine front
covers.
The second question that required an answer
for feedback on my pitch was ‘What do you
think could be improved on my magazine
front covers?’. The majority of respondents
mentioned about how the wider range of
colours could be used and how it could be
more appealing to the audience.
9. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued)
Question 3 is ‘Was everything listed in the mark scheme covered
throughout the pitch?’. About 81.82% of respondents answered yes
compared to those who answered no which was 18.18%. Through those
answering no, I gained to responses which were I was missing photoshoot
plan and competitors.
Q4 was based on if my proposals
contained enough detail about each of
my magazines and though this, every
respondent answered yes to this specific
question which meat that my proposals
contained enough detail.
10. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued)
Q5 is based on what I could improve
on each dps of both magazines, the
majority of respondents said mainly
about colour and images so if the main
image could be bigger or more images
could be added to it.
Q6 is about whether my magazine
ideas targeted the right audience and
all of the respondents to the survey
answered yes which meant both my
magazine ideas were well suited for
my target audience.
11. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued)
Q7 is the last and the most
important question that is required
as through gaining feedback from
how I did in my pitch can help with
how I should do for the next time I
present a pitch.
The majority of respondents said to
speak clearer and louder so that
they can understand what I am
talking about for each slide I am
presenting in my pitch and know I
am confident in presenting my
pitch.
Also, some respondents said that
eye contact should be made
towards the audience so that they
know that I am presenting my
magazine ideas to them.
12. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued)
This displays the email that I sent out to those who will see my pitch as well as the teachers
and by sending this link, this gives them access into my survey in order to answer the
questions listed in order for me to gain feedback on my pitch and see what improvements I
can make the next time I present a pitch.
Survey monkey is a website that enables free use into creating a survey on any topics and
gaining responses through sharing the link to social media sites or through email. The
reason as to why I used survey monkey is due to the fact it is an easy way to gain responses
as to how well my pitch was, it is interactive and it has alternative options as to how to share
the survey link to certain individuals.
13. Pitch Improvements
Spending power
For the spending power, I originally spoke
about socio-economic needs in my pitch
through the target audience page. By
improving on this, I developed it further by
adding in about spending power as this fits
in with
socio-economic needs on if the social class
has a high or low spending power. I added
that due to the fact the social classes I am
targeting is mainly ABC1, I mentioned that
there will be a higher spending power.
Competitors
As shown on the witness statement, it is highlighted
in yellow that I missed out on a competitors page
which meant that It wasn’t added onto my pitch. so
to complete this correction, I added a competitors
slide onto my LO4 pitch so that it is clear to the
audience which magazines I am competing against
based on circulation figures, how much each issue
costs and the similar content they provide within
each issue of the magazine.
14. Pitch Improvements(Continued)
Front Cover corrections
Through the feedback I got from the witness statement and from the survey monkey, main
improvements were on the image flatness, use of a wider range of colours and the amount
of text that was placed onto the front cover. By improving on this:
• I made the coverlines
smaller so that they don’t
take up most of the page,
• I also made the main
image and the masthead
bigger so that it is more
clear and understandable
to the reader about what
the genre of the magazine
is
• I deleted some of the cover
lines as there was too
much text on the front
cover
• lastly, I changed the colour
of the cover lines from
black to white so that the
text contrasts with the
background and is visible
to read clearly.
15. Pitch Improvements(Continued)
Photoshoot Plan
Through using the mark scheme, I didn’t realise a photoshoot plan for both magazines was
missing on my pitch as corrected by someone through the question they answered about if
everything on the mark scheme was on the pitch. By improving this, I made a photoshoot
plan for both magazine ideas to highlight what images inspire both magazine ideas and all
the photography connotations such as post production, technical codes and the name of the
photographer.

This is a 5-week plan as to how the production of my magazine ideas will go. The first week will consist of
buying equipment, hiring employees through setting up interviews and setting up the office. The second
week consists of giving out tasks especially to the photographer, writer and journalist and looking for an
artist to feature on the front cover and dps. The third week is formatting the front cover and dps through
programs such as Adobe Photoshop as well as adding the interview and other relevant stories into the
article. The fourth week consists of finding other stories that could be featured in the magazine that are
relevant to the genre ad sending off the completed magazine to the production company. The last week is
based on the distribution of the final magazine idea, setting up social media accounts that lead up to the
launch of the magazine. It also displays how employees get weekends off so they don’t have to turn up for
work on the weekend, that is their 2 days off.
19. Calendar Events
The official date of distribution for my magazine is
1st January 2016 which is the last date specified on
my production plan. The problem with the date of
distribution issued is that this is the key date for
New Years Day which is an issue because all shops
are closed on that day and many people could have
been celebrating the night before which means
they possibly want the next day to just relax or
have time with family and friends. This could also
mean the magazine could lose circulation at a high
rate and could be beaten by its competitors.
20. Legal and Ethical Issues- IPSO
• The editor’s code of practice is based on rules which have been enforced by
members of industries that relate to magazines and newspapers that have to
be agreed on and accepted. It is administered by the Editors’ Code of Practice
committee that includes ten editors and 5 lay members which certainly
include a chairman and chief executive of the IPSO.
• This is relevant for my magazine as this makes sure that any errors that are
made during the production of my magazine, ipso must be taken into
consideration as failing to comply with the clauses listed on the ipso website
could lead to legal action being taken against my magazine from a certain
individual featured in the magazine or competitor.
• This relates to my magazine as accuracy (Clause 1 of the Editors’ Code) is one
of the clauses that relates to my magazine which means that the information
given in the magazine must be accurate, from a reliable source e.g. the artist
featured and must relate to the genre of the magazine and the magazine itself.
if any inaccuracy is spotted within the magazine, a complaint can be sent in by
the reader if they are reading information that is false, doesn’t come from a
reliable source or doesn’t relate to the magazine whatsoever.

21. Legal and Ethical Issues
IP(Intellectual Property)
• IP stands for Intellectual property which is defined as having the
correct type of intellectual property protection to prevent other
individuals from stealing or copying your work.
• Based on intellectual property, this applies to my magazine as this can
prevent other competitors from taking any material that was originally
published in my magazine and from copying any ideas that were
created by the staff that work for my magazine, designs or text that is
featured in the content of my magazine and if that occurred, that
would be in breach of intellectual property meaning legal action can
take place. Owning intellectual property is required and by owning it,
this means intellectual property rights were bought from either the
creator or previous owner and if it was created by the staff within my
magazine and meets the requirements that it is eligible for copyright,
this means that intellectual property is owned. Also, watermarking will
be used for any images that are used in my magazine but put on the
internet as this is evident to who took the pictures or where the
images are from.

22. Legal and Ethical Issues
Copyright
• Copyright is when an author has legal rights into creating copies,
licenses and other musical or artistic work whichever the format
and is entitled to owning that work that requires authorised access
for it to be used by other individuals if the author gives permission.
• Based on copyright, this applies to my magazine as this stops
certain individuals or businesses from copying work that was
created by my magazine, distributing any copies of the work for
either free of charge or for a price and putting the work on the
internet without permission from the creator or owner of the work.
In addition, any images or content that have creators or
photographers will have the copyright symbol placed on the certain
material along with the name of the individual and the year in when
the image or the creation was taken or made which makes it
evident to the reader that the image can’t be used for personal
purposes unless they have asked the original creator or owner to
use their material that has been featured inside my magazine.

23. Legal and Ethical Issues
Safe Working Practices
• Safe working practices is defined as written methods that allow the staff within the
workplace to understand the way the tasks should be completed whilst trying to
prevent any of the risks occurring to other individuals within the workplace, the
equipment used and the workplace. This should include documented procedures
in terms of how the tasks listed should be performed and carried out. The reason
as to why there is safe working practices taking place is so that health and safety
risks are controlled so that no casualties occur in the workplace, so that the staff
within the workplace know how to use the equipment and work safety and reduce
the chances of getting any injuries whilst completing tasks in a workplace.
• Based on safe working practices, this applies to my magazine as the staff must be
qualified and trained into knowing how to use all the equipment that is provided
in the workplace, must know how to use the software's that are provided on the
computers that are in the workplace and make sure that they know how to print
any material that would be useful or needed for a copy of my magazine. Through
being trained to use the equipment, this will be useful for the staff as this gives
them an idea on how to use the equipment correctly and making sure no
accidents with the equipment occur due to the price paid for the equipment.

24. Risk Assessment
Image risk assessment
Permissions
I have to make sure that the artist that is going to be
featured on the magazine has given their full permission
to be photographed and for their images to be uploaded
online and on print. By the artist giving their consent,
they are given a letter that goes through why they are
being photographed, where the images are going to be
published to etc. if the artist agrees to everything listed
on the form, they have to provide their signature as
proof of evidence that they have given their consent and
this will mean any legal action is put in place, the
magazine will not be blamed as the artist was aware of
what is on the letter as they signed it to give their full
consent into having their photos taken.
Area assessment
Whilst searching for a location in where the images of
the artist are taken, safety pre-cautions are put into place
as this makes sure that whilst the photoshoot is being
conducted, the artist and the staff involved with the
photoshoot are safe and aware of the location they are
currently at. This includes any hazards that are within the
location at where the photoshoot is conducted at e.g.
weather conditions .
This displays an image of the
photo consent form handed
to the artist to sign over their
consent for photos to be
taken of them.
25. Risk Assessment
Software risk assessment
Resizing the image
When resizing the image that was taken of the artist, I
needed to make sure that whilst resizing the image, I
had to check if any pixilation with the image was taking
place or else the image wouldn’t be clear. To resize the
image on Adobe Photoshop, I had to place the image
on the blank canvas and hold down the shift key so
that the image keeps its original shape without any
pixilation. Lastly, if you want to make the image bigger
or smaller, click on ‘edit’, then the option ‘free
transform’ and hold the shift key so that it will allow
you to change shape without any pixilating or any
other issues.
Eyedropper tool
By using the eyedropper tool, this allowed me to find a
colour of an image that has been placed on Adobe
Photoshop and it gives me the option to name then
save the colour that I have found through placing the
eyedropper on any part of the object. The saved
colours would be found on saved swatches which is
useful as this isn’t time consuming and the colours can
be found easily so that they can straight away be used
for the magazine.
26. Conclusion
To conclude LO4 and LO5, this explains about the environment of the pitch so where is took place
and what equipment was used to complete it along with evidence of the pitch so video evidence
of me doing my pitch as well as the witness statement which was written out by the teacher on
what was in my pitch that was on the mark scheme, how well the pitch went and how I could
improve on it.
Also, there is a slide on materials that I used that helped me to create my pitch such as Microsoft
PowerPoint which allowed me to edit all the slides on my pitch and Prezi which improved the
presentation of my pitch. In addition, I analyzed each of the responses from the questions I put
on my survey monkey which allowed me to see which improvements I could make on my pitch
that are all explained on the pitch improvements slides.
There is slides on the production plan that has been set up for the next 5 weeks on the
production of my magazine which leads up to the launch date of my magazine. Also, there is a
slide on calendar events that relates to the official distribution date which looks into what other
important events clash with the distribution date of my magazine.
It was important to look into the legal and ethical issues regarding my magazine such as ipso,
safe working practices along with copyright and intellectual property. Most of the legal and
ethical issues related to the images used for the magazine, the content found within the
magazine and how safe the workplace in where the magazine is being produced is. Lastly, I went
into detail about the risk assessments regarding the images used for the magazine which is image
risk assessment e.g. area assessment and software risk assessment which relates to resizing the
image used and the eyedropper tool.
