Instructional Technology in the Intermediate ClassroomBrenda L. Carmon
Using Technology in the Classroom
Teachers and TechnologyTechnology and teaching go hand in hand. Weare teaching a digital generation, and need toget them ready for a future that is built onthe latest and greatest technology. Because, ready or not here it comes!
Instructional Design & Technology- What is it Good for?Absolutely everything!Instructional technology and design are aninvaluable tool in the world of education. Theyhelp teachers design instruction that is tailored totheir students needs. It is a means to analyze studentstrengths and weaknesses. A better question would be to ask what isn’t it good for?
Defining the Field of Instructional Design & Technology (IDT)As a teacher and an avid technology user in the classroom, my personaldefinition of Instructional Design & Technology is probably pretty close tothat of Reiser and Dempsey’s (Reiser & Dempsey 2012) in that they state, “The field of instructional design and technology encompasses the analysis oflearning and performance problems, and the design development, implementation, evaluation and management of instructional and non-instructional processes andresources.” While instructional technology is ever changing, so is the way Ineed to teach and reach my students. Anything I can design to catch and keeptheir attention, to analyze their learning, and performance so that I can betterdesign classroom instruction is not an option. it is a must to make it in education with a job description full of higher-level thinking standards, and testing.                                                           (n):The process by which instruction is improved through the analysis of learning needs and systematic development of learning materials. Instructional designers often use technology and multimedia as tools to enhance instruction.- http://www.instructionaldesign.org/
Patricia IntermediateMany teachers are not buying to the use of technology in the classroom, and the available resources are not being used. The hardware is beginning to become dated.

ConclusionTechnology is one of the biggest influences in our society today. It moves us, and gets us wherewe need to be. To sit and dothings you have always done in aworld that is rapidly changing isnot good enough. Teachers needto remember to be flexible, to belife-long learners, and to not beafraid to try something new intheir classrooms. Our districtand campus has given us thetraining and the resources; allwe must do is choose to takeadvantage of them so that ourstudents and ourselves can learn, implement, and grow.
