Proposal-Louder
Proposal-NMH
Form and style of both magazines
• It will have a simplistic colour scheme which will be similar to the
magazines I picked for inspiration so the colour I have chosen is black, red
and white . This is based on the fact these colours relate to the genre of
the magazine and is suited for both genders
• Also, the masthead will be in the top left hand corner in bold text to
highlight to the reader how the magazine is trying to appeal to them to
result to them purchasing an issue.
• The strapline will be either under the masthead or beside the masthead
on the right side to suggest to the reader what the magazine is trying to
do to make them purchase an issue by stating a line which will make them
more interested in the magazine.
• The page number will be on the bottom left and right corner along with
the web address to imply to the reader that there is more exclusive
content from the magazine online than just in physical copy.
Target audience for both magazines
Hartley’s seven subjectivities
Age- the magazine would appeal to those within the age range of 18-30 year olds based on the artists that appear
on the front cover of the magazine that make music that is well-suited to them within the certain genre.
Gender- it would be more suited to those who are male but it is suitable for male and female readers as both male
and female artists appear on the front cover of the magazine.
Class- the magazine would be suited for those within the ABC1 social class as the magazine is based on artists who
are within the upper class and middle class and it is also based on the price of the magazine so adults are more
likely to afford it compared to those in lower classes.
Ethnicity- as the magazine is based in the United Kingdom, it would be targeted at those who are British citizens as
the magazine is sold in this country and easier for people to purchase.
Katz 'uses and gratifications theory
Personal relationship- this connotes how the reader will be able to connect with the artist through a read of their
interview, it also suggests how the artist is trying to form a relationship with the reader in a way they will be more
intrigued on what the artist has to offer and how they are making an effort to be driven and work hard in their
music in order for the reader to understand what they go through on a deeper level.
Maslow
Social climbers- by the reader reading about the success of an artist so how they got to where they are now drives
the reader to work harder in order to improve their social class and possibly get a more lavish lifestyle compared to
those who living on low wages.
Socio-economic needs
The magazine would be aimed at those within the social class ABC1 and in E(so students) based on the artists that
will appear on the magazine and the content contained in the magazine in which it is suited for these social classes
as in a way they relate to the content of the magazine and the artist because they possibly have the lifestyle the
artist lives or they aspire to be like the artist. As the social class is high up on the socio-economic needs, this means
that the spending power will be higher compared to social classes that are lower on socio-economic needs as
people within ABC1 social classes have jobs that have a high income.

Test photography
These images displayed above are well suited for my front cover as the main individual of these
images has the sense of fashion that is well suited for my front cover, has the sort of expression
that an artist featured on a alternative rock magazine would have.
Also, the protagonist is wearing a plaid shirt attached with a hood which connotes how her style is
influenced through the era of alternative rock and how it will connote to the readers that this is a
sense of fashion that should be worth going for.
Draft Interview
1.Hey Alexandra, How are you?
I am very good thank you! It is amazing how much of a connection I have
with all the fans and everyone that has been with me since day 1.
2.Any upcoming music being released anytime soon?
Well, you must know that I am still working on new music material to add
to my first ever studio album that will be released to the public in a few
months time, unfortunately I can’t confirm the date though!
3.How do you feel about the media attention you are getting on a daily
basis?
To be honest, it is very overwhelming as I wouldn’t think I would gain
recognition for my music and the longer I deal with it, the more I am
getting used to it.
4.Do you plan on touring after the release of your upcoming studio
debut album?
Of course! I love being on the road and travelling around the world to
other countries to perform in front of those who have got me where I am
today.
5. Do you enjoy writing your own songs in your spare
time?
In fact I do, it is one of my many hobbies whilst on the road as it keeps me
busy, more inspired and driven to achieve more of what I have got.
6. What do you fear the most out of being a famous singer?
I fear the fact many rumours that are truly false are brought up in the
headlines and how most interviewers could question me about it when I
really don't like bringing up
7.Whilst on camera, what was the most embarrassing moment that
happened to you?
Well, as I was being interviewed on MTV, the interviewer was asking me
questions which I didn't have the answer to so all I was doing was
sweating so much in went through my clothes! It cheers me up because it
is funny to look back on!
7.Whilst on camera, what was the most embarrassing moment that
happened to you?
Well, as I was being interviewed on MTV, the interviewer was asking me
questions which I didn't have the answer to so all I was doing was
sweating so much in went through my clothes! It cheers me up because
it is funny to look back on!
8.Do you feel that you want a break from the music industry or intend
to carry on?
I never intend to disappoint my fans but at some point, I will have a
break as the music industry can be overwhelming and too much to
handle so having a break can let me have more time with my family and
friends who mean so much to me as I wouldn't be here thanks to the
support from them and the fans. Once I have a break, of course I will
make a comeback into the music industry.
9. What is the best part of being a famous singer?
Travelling to different countries to connect with fans all over the world,
it is amazing how much they appreciate my music and love me for who
I am as a person, not just a singer.
10. Do you have any names or ideas of what your next album is going
to be called?
Unfortunately I cant spill any names as this is a surprise for everyone,
the name of the album will be announced a few days before the release
of the upcoming album.
Step by Step- Front Cover
• Firstly, the program that is going to be used to create the front cover is Adobe Photoshop in which the
canvas should be set to A4 size and some ruler guidelines are recommended in order for each convention
of the front cover to be in line with each other and make it look neat and professional. In order to add a
ruler guideline, this can be added by dragging the line down from the ruler above the canvas and placed in
a position that is ideal for the conventions to be in line.
• It is best to create a background before adding the conventions onto the A4 canvas of the front cover and
by creating a background, using the rectangle tool will make it easier as I will be able to change the colour
of the background, the gradient of the background, this should fit the A4 canvas.
• After the background is complete and fits the colour scheme that I have gone for, the conventions of the
front cover must be added to the front cover which are the most important features and makes up the
front cover. These conventions are masthead, strapline, barcode which has the name of the publisher,
masthead logo and issue date. In order to add the barcode onto the front cover, click on ‘file’ then ‘place’
then free transform the barcode if it needs resizing(cmd+T) and move it into the position that it is most
suited in.
• After the barcode has been added and placed in its suited position, the masthead and strapline is added to
the front cover and in order to add shapes for the masthead and strapline, on the tool bar there is a
square which appears and as you click on that option, it allows you to choose which shape you prefer to
use for the masthead and strapline of the magazine. The masthead ( name of the magazine ) and strapline
should then be added as text over the shapes that have been put on the front cover and in order for the
text to be in front of the shape, the text layer should be dragged to above the shape layer in order for the
masthead to appear over the shape.
Step by step- summary- DPS
• For DPS, it will be repetition to the front cover in terms of the size of the
page but instead of Adobe Photoshop being used, Adobe InDesign will be
used to create the DPS. in order to place the headline for the DPS, fonts
from dafont can be downloaded for free and used if it fits with the genre
my magazine is presenting to the audience.
• The page number is added on the bottom left and right of the magazine
along with the masthead of the magazine that has been resized to a
smaller shape by free-transforming the shape once it has been placed.
• The image of the artist and the background for the DPS should be made
on Adobe Photoshop before it is placed on each page of the DPS. There
should be column guidelines as to where the interview should be placed
on the right page of the dps. If there is still more of the interview to be
added on the dps, the textbox would have a box which contains the ‘+’
symbol in the box, it can be added on to the next column that is on the
page, the interview consists of three columns on the page and to add in a
drop capital in the interview, you highlight the letter that indicates to the
reader where the interview starts and by highlighting that letter, you can
resize it to a bigger scale.

Printing Quotes and Costs
• The screenshot below displays the pricing for the printing of
the magazine, what the quantity of the price is, how many
pages the magazine contains, which country the product is
delivered into and what the orientation of the magazine is.
The total cost is £5,624.35 as there is a total of 64 pages on
each magazine as displayed on the magazine flat plan.

Distribution to retailer costs
• This screenshot displays the email
I sent to Marketforce which is a
TimeInc company.
• In addition, this email is evident
that I contacted Marketforce
through their email found on the
contact us page, it explains that I
am researching about magazine
distribution to retailers like
WHSmith and I am finding out
about a estimation to how much
it costs to distribute two
magazines that have 60 pages
each to retailers.
• I have also specified that I am
studying CTEC media which
indicates to Marketplace that this
is for educational purposes and
this information is vital in order to
complete research into
distribution to retailer costs.
Distribution to retailer costs(continued)
This screenshot displays the
response that I got from one of the
employees that work in
Marketforce regarding to the email I
sent on the previous slide about
distributing magazines to retailers.
In addition, this email explains how
the retailers would take around 10-
20% of the cover price of the
magazines but this depends on
which retailer you chose to
distribute the magazines.
through this response, this is able to
give me an idea of what the
distribution costs for my magazine
will be as well as the cover price of
the magazine.
Spending power
• The cost of both magazine ideas is £2.50 which is
a reasonable price for the audience I am targeting
my magazine ideas at and based on the amount
of content that is within each issue of the
magazine.
• As the social class is high up on the socio-
economic needs, this means that the spending
power will be higher compared to social classes
that are lower on socio-economic needs as
people within ABC1 social classes have jobs that
have a high income.
Advertising revenue
• As displayed on the magazine flat plan, there is 11 full page advertisements
that are in each issue of the magazine which is an appropriate number of
advertisements in an issue of the magazine.
• The price of each full page FH(full page advertisement) is £3,025 (according
to advertising rates on the screenshot above).
• As there is 11 pages that are full page advertisements on my magazine flat
plan, the total cost of the 11 full page advertisements is £33,275.

Magazine’s marketplace
• By the magazine just starting up and coming on
the market, this will mean that it will have other
magazines that it will be competing against other
magazines such as NME and Q magazine that
have a similar genre to the one I am portraying in
my magazine. Another way in which the
magazine will be marketed is through advertising
on social media e.g. Facebook and Twitter as this
will generate a wide audience with the music
genre it is representing as amongst the audience,
it is a popular music genre that features such
content that wont be found anywhere else.
How the magazine is going to be marketed
• My magazine will be marketed through social media sites such as
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
• Based on advertising on Facebook, any budget can be set to advertise
the magazine page as the cost that has been set is related to the
advertisement that is displayed to the audience that have liked other
pages that are relevant and feature similar topics to the magazine.
• For twitter, an exact price for advertising hasn’t been set as this is
determined through the budget that has been set as well as the bid
that has been selected through the setting up the campaign for the
magazine.
• By using different social media sites to promote my magazine, this will
contribute into gaining the support of individuals from a wide-range
audience as it has content that is based on mainstream music which is
mainly aimed at the younger generation than the older generation.

These figures displays the total loss and profit the
magazine is going to make which means money will
be lost in the first year of production of the
magazine. Also, this is due to the fact more money
is spent on staff and equipment compared to how
much is spent on advertising revenue, subscription
offers and the cost of producing 15,000 copies of
the magazine.

Legal and ethical issues
Legal and Ethical issues (continued)
• The editor’s code of practice is based on rules which have been enforced by members of
industries that relate to magazines and newspapers that have to be agreed on and accepted. It
is administered by the Editors’ Code of Practice committee that includes ten editors and 5 lay
members which certainly include a chairman and chief executive of the IPSO.
• This is relevant for my magazine as this makes sure that any errors that are made during the
production of my magazine, ipso must be taken into consideration as failing to comply with
the clauses listed on the ipso website could lead to legal action being taken against my
magazine from a certain individual featured in the magazine or competitor.
• On the previous slide, it displays how to make a complaint through ipso about a certain
publication that you were unhappy with or spoke in such nature that was not appropriate to
mention in a publication.
• In order to fill in a complaint to IPSO, an online application form can be filled in, they also
accept writing in a complaint and telephoning in is acceptable.
• There is also a time period in which the complaint must be submitted into IPSO within 4
months of when the article that is being complained about was published or any action that
has taken place. they could possibly take in complaints that are about an article that still has
access through the website of the magazine/newspaper within 12 months of when it was
published.
• This relates to my magazine as accuracy( Clause 1 of the Editors’ Code) is one of the clauses
that relates to my magazine which means that the information given in the magazine must be
accurate, from a reliable source e.g. the artist featured and must relate to the genre of the
magazine and the magazine itself. if any inaccuracy is spotted within the magazine, a
complaint can be sent in by the reader if they are reading information that is false, doesn’t
come from a reliable source or doesn’t relate to the magazine whatsoever.

Legal and Ethical issues(continued)
• There is issues which regards to either a person or group having no choice
but to voice their opinions on whether alternatives are ethical (right) or
unethical (wrong).
• When it comes to producing magazines, companies will have to comply
with the rules once the magazines have been published and sold to
consumers so it will prevent any harm or offence caused to individuals.
• If any ethical issues were to occur in music magazines, it would be more
relevant to those who are younger artists compared to those who have
been in the music industry for long enough to be irrelevant.
• As my magazine features more of younger artists rather than artists that
have been in the music industry for years, this means that ethical issues
will be more relevant to my magazine as they are more to voicing their
opinions through interviews that take place that would be featured in the
magazine.
Copyright and IP
• IP stands for Intellectual property which is defined as having the
correct type of intellectual property protection to prevent other
individuals from stealing or copying your work. This can be applied
to the names of certain products or brands, your own inventions,
the way your product is designed and the work that is produced by
yourself. Examples of intellectual property is Copyright, patents,
designs and trademarks and these types of intellectual property can
be already be there automatically or others will need applying for in
order for the intellectual property to be protected. Intellectual
property can either have more than one author/owner, if it belongs
to a group of people or business and if it has been sold to another
owner or transferred to another individual/business.
• Copyright is when an author has legal rights into creating copies,
licenses and other musical or artistic work whichever the format
and is entitled to owning that work that requires authorised access
for it to be used by other individuals if the author gives permission.
Watermark
• Watermarking is defined as a specific mark that is place on
different types of paper whilst in production that can only
be identified and seen in certain angles of light.
• Depending on the number of photos and videos that will
be watermarked, the prices range from £0 to £13.37 per
month.
• In order to go through the process of watermarking, the
easiest and fastest way of watermarking your images is
through certain websites like watermark.ws which requires
monthly pay in order for it to watermark a certain number
of images and videos that you require.
• What I would watermark on my magazine is the front
cover and back cover so that it conveys to the reader that
each of the material that is featured on the front cover
shouldn’t be plagiarized or else certain action would be
required for this to be prevented. References

Data Protection Act 1998

Editors Code of Practice
The editor’s code of practice is based on rules which have been enforced by members of industries that relate to magazines
and newspapers that have to be agreed on and accepted. It is administered by the Editors’ Code of Practice committee that
includes ten editors and 5 lay members which certainly include a chairman and chief executive of the IPSO.
The editors code of practice must be taken into consideration whilst making issues of magazines. The three main clauses of
the editors code of practice is:
Clause 1-accuracy
– This clause means that the press are restricted from publishing any content that is irrelevant to the text, that contains
misleading information or images that do not relate to the text.
– if this was to occur, they will need to correct their mistake immediately and publish an apology for giving out
misleading information.
Clause 12- discrimination
– The press must prevent any content that is prejudicial to a certain individual’s race, colour, religion, gender, sexual
orientation etc.
– Any details that cover any of the subjects above must not be spoken of unless it is relevant to the content that has
been published.
Clause 14-Confidential sources
– Every journalist have moral obligations in order to protect any sources of information that have to be kept confidential
and out of the public eye.
– This is important as any information that should be kept from the public but then released means that any news
source can gain information from this and legal action can be taken into place as there is evidence to back up that the
release of confidential information is in breach of Clause 14.
This is relevant for my magazine as this makes sure that any errors that are made during the production of my magazine,
ipso must be taken into consideration as failing to comply with the clauses listed on the ipso website could lead to
legal action being taken against my magazine from a certain individual featured in the magazine or competitor.
Calendar events
• The official date of distribution for my magazine
is 1st January 2016 which is the last date specified
on my production plan. The problem with the
date of distribution issued is that this is the key
date for New Years Day which is an issue because
all shops are closed on that day and many people
could have been celebrating the night before
which means they possibly want the next day to
just relax or have time with family and friends.
This could also mean the magazine could lose
circulation at a high rate and could be beaten by
its competitors.

Form and styleof both magazines • It will have a simplistic colour scheme which will be similar to the magazines I picked for inspiration so the colour I have chosen is black, red and white . This is based on the fact these colours relate to the genre of the magazine and is suited for both genders • Also, the masthead will be in the top left hand corner in bold text to highlight to the reader how the magazine is trying to appeal to them to result to them purchasing an issue. • The strapline will be either under the masthead or beside the masthead on the right side to suggest to the reader what the magazine is trying to do to make them purchase an issue by stating a line which will make them more interested in the magazine. • The page number will be on the bottom left and right corner along with the web address to imply to the reader that there is more exclusive content from the magazine online than just in physical copy.

Target audience forboth magazines Hartley’s seven subjectivities Age- the magazine would appeal to those within the age range of 18-30 year olds based on the artists that appear on the front cover of the magazine that make music that is well-suited to them within the certain genre. Gender- it would be more suited to those who are male but it is suitable for male and female readers as both male and female artists appear on the front cover of the magazine. Class- the magazine would be suited for those within the ABC1 social class as the magazine is based on artists who are within the upper class and middle class and it is also based on the price of the magazine so adults are more likely to afford it compared to those in lower classes. Ethnicity- as the magazine is based in the United Kingdom, it would be targeted at those who are British citizens as the magazine is sold in this country and easier for people to purchase. Katz 'uses and gratifications theory Personal relationship- this connotes how the reader will be able to connect with the artist through a read of their interview, it also suggests how the artist is trying to form a relationship with the reader in a way they will be more intrigued on what the artist has to offer and how they are making an effort to be driven and work hard in their music in order for the reader to understand what they go through on a deeper level. Maslow Social climbers- by the reader reading about the success of an artist so how they got to where they are now drives the reader to work harder in order to improve their social class and possibly get a more lavish lifestyle compared to those who living on low wages. Socio-economic needs The magazine would be aimed at those within the social class ABC1 and in E(so students) based on the artists that will appear on the magazine and the content contained in the magazine in which it is suited for these social classes as in a way they relate to the content of the magazine and the artist because they possibly have the lifestyle the artist lives or they aspire to be like the artist. As the social class is high up on the socio-economic needs, this means that the spending power will be higher compared to social classes that are lower on socio-economic needs as people within ABC1 social classes have jobs that have a high income.

Test photography These imagesdisplayed above are well suited for my front cover as the main individual of these images has the sense of fashion that is well suited for my front cover, has the sort of expression that an artist featured on a alternative rock magazine would have. Also, the protagonist is wearing a plaid shirt attached with a hood which connotes how her style is influenced through the era of alternative rock and how it will connote to the readers that this is a sense of fashion that should be worth going for.

Draft Interview 1.Hey Alexandra,How are you? I am very good thank you! It is amazing how much of a connection I have with all the fans and everyone that has been with me since day 1. 2.Any upcoming music being released anytime soon? Well, you must know that I am still working on new music material to add to my first ever studio album that will be released to the public in a few months time, unfortunately I can’t confirm the date though! 3.How do you feel about the media attention you are getting on a daily basis? To be honest, it is very overwhelming as I wouldn’t think I would gain recognition for my music and the longer I deal with it, the more I am getting used to it. 4.Do you plan on touring after the release of your upcoming studio debut album? Of course! I love being on the road and travelling around the world to other countries to perform in front of those who have got me where I am today. 5. Do you enjoy writing your own songs in your spare time? In fact I do, it is one of my many hobbies whilst on the road as it keeps me busy, more inspired and driven to achieve more of what I have got. 6. What do you fear the most out of being a famous singer? I fear the fact many rumours that are truly false are brought up in the headlines and how most interviewers could question me about it when I really don't like bringing up 7.Whilst on camera, what was the most embarrassing moment that happened to you? Well, as I was being interviewed on MTV, the interviewer was asking me questions which I didn't have the answer to so all I was doing was sweating so much in went through my clothes! It cheers me up because it is funny to look back on! 7.Whilst on camera, what was the most embarrassing moment that happened to you? Well, as I was being interviewed on MTV, the interviewer was asking me questions which I didn't have the answer to so all I was doing was sweating so much in went through my clothes! It cheers me up because it is funny to look back on! 8.Do you feel that you want a break from the music industry or intend to carry on? I never intend to disappoint my fans but at some point, I will have a break as the music industry can be overwhelming and too much to handle so having a break can let me have more time with my family and friends who mean so much to me as I wouldn't be here thanks to the support from them and the fans. Once I have a break, of course I will make a comeback into the music industry. 9. What is the best part of being a famous singer? Travelling to different countries to connect with fans all over the world, it is amazing how much they appreciate my music and love me for who I am as a person, not just a singer. 10. Do you have any names or ideas of what your next album is going to be called? Unfortunately I cant spill any names as this is a surprise for everyone, the name of the album will be announced a few days before the release of the upcoming album.

Step by Step-Front Cover • Firstly, the program that is going to be used to create the front cover is Adobe Photoshop in which the canvas should be set to A4 size and some ruler guidelines are recommended in order for each convention of the front cover to be in line with each other and make it look neat and professional. In order to add a ruler guideline, this can be added by dragging the line down from the ruler above the canvas and placed in a position that is ideal for the conventions to be in line. • It is best to create a background before adding the conventions onto the A4 canvas of the front cover and by creating a background, using the rectangle tool will make it easier as I will be able to change the colour of the background, the gradient of the background, this should fit the A4 canvas. • After the background is complete and fits the colour scheme that I have gone for, the conventions of the front cover must be added to the front cover which are the most important features and makes up the front cover. These conventions are masthead, strapline, barcode which has the name of the publisher, masthead logo and issue date. In order to add the barcode onto the front cover, click on ‘file’ then ‘place’ then free transform the barcode if it needs resizing(cmd+T) and move it into the position that it is most suited in. • After the barcode has been added and placed in its suited position, the masthead and strapline is added to the front cover and in order to add shapes for the masthead and strapline, on the tool bar there is a square which appears and as you click on that option, it allows you to choose which shape you prefer to use for the masthead and strapline of the magazine. The masthead ( name of the magazine ) and strapline should then be added as text over the shapes that have been put on the front cover and in order for the text to be in front of the shape, the text layer should be dragged to above the shape layer in order for the masthead to appear over the shape.
  • 30.
Step by step-summary- DPS • For DPS, it will be repetition to the front cover in terms of the size of the page but instead of Adobe Photoshop being used, Adobe InDesign will be used to create the DPS. in order to place the headline for the DPS, fonts from dafont can be downloaded for free and used if it fits with the genre my magazine is presenting to the audience. • The page number is added on the bottom left and right of the magazine along with the masthead of the magazine that has been resized to a smaller shape by free-transforming the shape once it has been placed. • The image of the artist and the background for the DPS should be made on Adobe Photoshop before it is placed on each page of the DPS. There should be column guidelines as to where the interview should be placed on the right page of the dps. If there is still more of the interview to be added on the dps, the textbox would have a box which contains the ‘+’ symbol in the box, it can be added on to the next column that is on the page, the interview consists of three columns on the page and to add in a drop capital in the interview, you highlight the letter that indicates to the reader where the interview starts and by highlighting that letter, you can resize it to a bigger scale.

Distribution to retailercosts(continued) This screenshot displays the response that I got from one of the employees that work in Marketforce regarding to the email I sent on the previous slide about distributing magazines to retailers. In addition, this email explains how the retailers would take around 10- 20% of the cover price of the magazines but this depends on which retailer you chose to distribute the magazines. through this response, this is able to give me an idea of what the distribution costs for my magazine will be as well as the cover price of the magazine.
  • 39.
Spending power • Thecost of both magazine ideas is £2.50 which is a reasonable price for the audience I am targeting my magazine ideas at and based on the amount of content that is within each issue of the magazine. • As the social class is high up on the socio- economic needs, this means that the spending power will be higher compared to social classes that are lower on socio-economic needs as people within ABC1 social classes have jobs that have a high income.

Advertising revenue • Asdisplayed on the magazine flat plan, there is 11 full page advertisements that are in each issue of the magazine which is an appropriate number of advertisements in an issue of the magazine. • The price of each full page FH(full page advertisement) is £3,025 (according to advertising rates on the screenshot above). • As there is 11 pages that are full page advertisements on my magazine flat plan, the total cost of the 11 full page advertisements is £33,275. Magazine’s marketplace • Bythe magazine just starting up and coming on the market, this will mean that it will have other magazines that it will be competing against other magazines such as NME and Q magazine that have a similar genre to the one I am portraying in my magazine. Another way in which the magazine will be marketed is through advertising on social media e.g. Facebook and Twitter as this will generate a wide audience with the music genre it is representing as amongst the audience, it is a popular music genre that features such content that wont be found anywhere else.

How the magazineis going to be marketed • My magazine will be marketed through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. • Based on advertising on Facebook, any budget can be set to advertise the magazine page as the cost that has been set is related to the advertisement that is displayed to the audience that have liked other pages that are relevant and feature similar topics to the magazine. • For twitter, an exact price for advertising hasn’t been set as this is determined through the budget that has been set as well as the bid that has been selected through the setting up the campaign for the magazine. • By using different social media sites to promote my magazine, this will contribute into gaining the support of individuals from a wide-range audience as it has content that is based on mainstream music which is mainly aimed at the younger generation than the older generation.

Also, this is due to the fact more money is spent on staff and equipment compared to how much is spent on advertising revenue, subscription offers and the cost of producing 15,000 copies of the magazine.

Legal and Ethicalissues (continued) • The editor’s code of practice is based on rules which have been enforced by members of industries that relate to magazines and newspapers that have to be agreed on and accepted. It is administered by the Editors’ Code of Practice committee that includes ten editors and 5 lay members which certainly include a chairman and chief executive of the IPSO. • This is relevant for my magazine as this makes sure that any errors that are made during the production of my magazine, ipso must be taken into consideration as failing to comply with the clauses listed on the ipso website could lead to legal action being taken against my magazine from a certain individual featured in the magazine or competitor. • On the previous slide, it displays how to make a complaint through ipso about a certain publication that you were unhappy with or spoke in such nature that was not appropriate to mention in a publication. • In order to fill in a complaint to IPSO, an online application form can be filled in, they also accept writing in a complaint and telephoning in is acceptable. • There is also a time period in which the complaint must be submitted into IPSO within 4 months of when the article that is being complained about was published or any action that has taken place. they could possibly take in complaints that are about an article that still has access through the website of the magazine/newspaper within 12 months of when it was published. • This relates to my magazine as accuracy( Clause 1 of the Editors’ Code) is one of the clauses that relates to my magazine which means that the information given in the magazine must be accurate, from a reliable source e.g. the artist featured and must relate to the genre of the magazine and the magazine itself. if any inaccuracy is spotted within the magazine, a complaint can be sent in by the reader if they are reading information that is false, doesn’t come from a reliable source or doesn’t relate to the magazine whatsoever. Legal and Ethicalissues(continued) • There is issues which regards to either a person or group having no choice but to voice their opinions on whether alternatives are ethical (right) or unethical (wrong). • When it comes to producing magazines, companies will have to comply with the rules once the magazines have been published and sold to consumers so it will prevent any harm or offence caused to individuals. • If any ethical issues were to occur in music magazines, it would be more relevant to those who are younger artists compared to those who have been in the music industry for long enough to be irrelevant. • As my magazine features more of younger artists rather than artists that have been in the music industry for years, this means that ethical issues will be more relevant to my magazine as they are more to voicing their opinions through interviews that take place that would be featured in the magazine.

Watermark • Watermarking isdefined as a specific mark that is place on different types of paper whilst in production that can only be identified and seen in certain angles of light. • Depending on the number of photos and videos that will be watermarked, the prices range from £0 to £13.37 per month. • In order to go through the process of watermarking, the easiest and fastest way of watermarking your images is through certain websites like watermark.ws which requires monthly pay in order for it to watermark a certain number of images and videos that you require. • What I would watermark on my magazine is the front cover and back cover so that it conveys to the reader that each of the material that is featured on the front cover shouldn’t be plagiarized or else certain action would be required for this to be prevented. Editors Code ofPractice The editor’s code of practice is based on rules which have been enforced by members of industries that relate to magazines and newspapers that have to be agreed on and accepted. It is administered by the Editors’ Code of Practice committee that includes ten editors and 5 lay members which certainly include a chairman and chief executive of the IPSO. The editors code of practice must be taken into consideration whilst making issues of magazines. The three main clauses of the editors code of practice is: Clause 1-accuracy – This clause means that the press are restricted from publishing any content that is irrelevant to the text, that contains misleading information or images that do not relate to the text. – if this was to occur, they will need to correct their mistake immediately and publish an apology for giving out misleading information. Clause 12- discrimination – The press must prevent any content that is prejudicial to a certain individual’s race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc. – Any details that cover any of the subjects above must not be spoken of unless it is relevant to the content that has been published. Clause 14-Confidential sources – Every journalist have moral obligations in order to protect any sources of information that have to be kept confidential and out of the public eye. – This is important as any information that should be kept from the public but then released means that any news source can gain information from this and legal action can be taken into place as there is evidence to back up that the release of confidential information is in breach of Clause 14. This is relevant for my magazine as this makes sure that any errors that are made during the production of my magazine, ipso must be taken into consideration as failing to comply with the clauses listed on the ipso website could lead to legal action being taken against my magazine from a certain individual featured in the magazine or competitor.

Calendar events • Theofficial date of distribution for my magazine is 1st January 2016 which is the last date specified on my production plan. The problem with the date of distribution issued is that this is the key date for New Years Day which is an issue because all shops are closed on that day and many people could have been celebrating the night before which means they possibly want the next day to just relax or have time with family and friends. This could also mean the magazine could lose circulation at a high rate and could be beaten by its competitors.
