Witness Statement Feedback(continued)
The previous slide and this slide
contain screenshots that have been
taken of the witness statement which
has key information about my pitch
so if I covered everything listed on
the mark scheme, what WWWs I have
been given so what went well with
the pitch and EBIs so how I could
improve on the pitch.
One of my WWWs as quoted on the
witness statement was “Presented
very well and obviously prepared in
much detail. Your magazines on-the-
whole are fantastic, especially your
second magazine.” which means that
I put my ideas across to the audience
very well and emphasised them in a
way for the audience to understand.
My EBI as quoted on the witness statement was “you need to fix some minor issues with front cover
and the DPS, in terms of image flatness." which means I need to improve my Photoshop and InDesign
skills that I have used on one of my front covers and one of my dps’s. This can easily be fixed through
the programs that I have used to create the front cover and dps for both magazine ideas.
Pitch Improvements
Spending power
For the spending power, I originally spoke
about socio-economic needs in my pitch
through the target audience page. By
improving on this, I developed it further by
adding in about spending power as this fits
in with
socio-economic needs on if the social class
has a high or low spending power. I added
that due to the fact the social classes I am
targeting is mainly ABC1, I mentioned that
there will be a higher spending power.
Competitors
As shown on the witness statement, it is highlighted
in yellow that I missed out on a competitors page
which meant that It wasn’t added onto my pitch. so
to complete this correction, I added a competitors
slide onto my LO4 pitch so that it is clear to the
audience which magazines I am competing against
based on circulation figures, how much each issue
costs and the similar content they provide within
each issue of the magazine.

Front Cover corrections
Through the feedback I got from the witness statement and from the survey monkey, main
improvements were on the image flatness, use of a wider range of colours and the amount
of text that was placed onto the front cover. By improving on this:
• I made the coverlines
smaller so that they don’t
take up most of the page,
• I also made the main
image and the masthead
bigger so that it is more
clear and understandable
to the reader about what
the genre of the magazine
is
• I deleted some of the cover
lines as there was too
much text on the front
cover
• lastly, I changed the colour
of the cover lines from
black to white so that the
text contrasts with the
background and is visible
to read clearly.
Pitch Improvements(Continued)
Photoshoot Plan
Through using the mark scheme, I didn’t realise a photoshoot plan for both magazines was
missing on my pitch as corrected by someone through the question they answered about if
everything on the mark scheme was on the pitch. By improving this, I made a photoshoot
plan for both magazine ideas to highlight what images inspire both magazine ideas and all
the photography connotations such as post production, technical codes and the name of the
photographer.
Survey Monkey Feedback
The first question that required an answer for
feedback on my pitch was ‘On a scale of 1-10,
what ranking would you give my magazine
front covers ?1-worst/10-excellent’. The
average answer from all 11 respondents was 7
out of 10 for a ranking on my magazine front
covers.
The second question that required an answer
for feedback on my pitch was ‘What do you
think could be improved on my magazine
front covers?’. The majority of respondents
mentioned about how the wider range of
colours could be used and how it could be
more appealing to the audience.

Question 3 is ‘Was everything listed in the mark scheme covered
throughout the pitch?’. About 81.82% of respondents answered yes
compared to those who answered no which was 18.18%. Through those
answering no, I gained to responses which were I was missing photoshoot
plan and competitors.
Q4 was based on if my proposals
contained enough detail about each of
my magazines and though this, every
respondent answered yes to this specific
question which meat that my proposals
contained enough detail.

Q5 is based on what I could improve
on each dps of both magazines, the
majority of respondents said mainly
about colour and images so if the main
image could be bigger or more images
could be added to it.
Q6 is about whether my magazine
ideas targeted the right audience and
all of the respondents to the survey
answered yes which meant both my
magazine ideas were well suited for
my target audience.

Q7 is the last and the most
important question that is required
as through gaining feedback from
how I did in my pitch can help with
how I should do for the next time I
present a pitch.
The majority of respondents said to
speak clearer and louder so that
they can understand what I am
talking about for each slide I am
presenting in my pitch and know I
am confident in presenting my
pitch.
Also, some respondents said that
eye contact should be made
towards the audience so that they
know that I am presenting my
magazine ideas to them.

This displays the email that I sent out to those who will see my pitch as well as the teachers
and by sending this link, this gives them access into my survey in order to answer the
questions listed in order for me to gain feedback on my pitch and see what improvements I
can make the next time I present a pitch.
Survey monkey is a website that enables free use into creating a survey on any topics and
gaining responses through sharing the link to social media sites or through email. The
reason as to why I used survey monkey is due to the fact it is an easy way to gain responses
as to how well my pitch was, it is interactive and it has alternative options as to how to share
the survey link to certain individuals.
Calendar Events
The official date of distribution for my magazine is
1st January 2016 which is the last date specified on
my production plan. The problem with the date of
distribution issued is that this is the key date for
New Years Day which is an issue because all shops
are closed on that day and many people could have
been celebrating the night before which means
they possibly want the next day to just relax or
have time with family and friends. This could also
mean the magazine could lose circulation at a high
rate and could be beaten by its competitors.

Each list displays what equipment and staff are
needed in order for me to set up and complete
my magazine. Even though software's such as
adobe Photoshop are vital, staff, an office and
other equipment listed are needed. For the staff
and cost, the salary earned is listed for each job
role and they mainly start with the average
income.
Conclusion
• To conclude LO5, this has a slide which explains about the witness
statement that has the feedback that I got from the teacher who was
analysing my pitch along with the audience and also speaks about what my
strengths and weaknesses of my pitch were. I also made improvements to
some of the content that is featured on my pitch and explained in a way
how I improved them. In addition, I sent out a link of my survey monkey
feedback page to those who watched my pitch and I was able to analyse
the answers to the questions that I had put on my feedback page on survey
monkey. Lastly, I spoke about calendar events so what events could clash
with the release of the magazine and how they could effect the circulation
figures for the magazine and I also put in a slide on what resources I need
in order to make sure that the production of the magazine runs smoothly
without any errors occurring.

Witness Statement Feedback(continued) The previous slide and this slide contain screenshots that have been taken of the witness statement which has key information about my pitch so if I covered everything listed on the mark scheme, what WWWs I have been given so what went well with the pitch and EBIs so how I could improve on the pitch. One of my WWWs as quoted on the witness statement was “Presented very well and obviously prepared in much detail. Your magazines on-the- whole are fantastic, especially your second magazine.” which means that I put my ideas across to the audience very well and emphasised them in a way for the audience to understand. My EBI as quoted on the witness statement was “you need to fix some minor issues with front cover and the DPS, in terms of image flatness." which means I need to improve my Photoshop and InDesign skills that I have used on one of my front covers and one of my dps’s. This can easily be fixed through the programs that I have used to create the front cover and dps for both magazine ideas.
  • 4. Pitch Improvements Spending power For the spending power, I originally spoke about socio-economic needs in my pitch through the target audience page. By improving on this, I developed it further by adding in about spending power as this fits in with socio-economic needs on if the social class has a high or low spending power. I added that due to the fact the social classes I am targeting is mainly ABC1, I mentioned that there will be a higher spending power. Competitors As shown on the witness statement, it is highlighted in yellow that I missed out on a competitors page which meant that It wasn’t added onto my pitch. so to complete this correction, I added a competitors slide onto my LO4 pitch so that it is clear to the audience which magazines I am competing against based on circulation figures, how much each issue costs and the similar content they provide within each issue of the magazine.

Pitch Improvements(Continued) Front Cover corrections Through the feedback I got from the witness statement and from the survey monkey, main improvements were on the image flatness, use of a wider range of colours and the amount of text that was placed onto the front cover. By improving on this: • I made the coverlines smaller so that they don’t take up most of the page, • I also made the main image and the masthead bigger so that it is more clear and understandable to the reader about what the genre of the magazine is • I deleted some of the cover lines as there was too much text on the front cover • lastly, I changed the colour of the cover lines from black to white so that the text contrasts with the background and is visible to read clearly.
  • 6. Pitch Improvements(Continued) Photoshoot Plan Through using the mark scheme, I didn’t realise a photoshoot plan for both magazines was missing on my pitch as corrected by someone through the question they answered about if everything on the mark scheme was on the pitch. By improving this, I made a photoshoot plan for both magazine ideas to highlight what images inspire both magazine ideas and all the photography connotations such as post production, technical codes and the name of the photographer.
  • 7. Survey Monkey Feedback The first question that required an answer for feedback on my pitch was ‘On a scale of 1-10, what ranking would you give my magazine front covers ?1-worst/10-excellent’. The average answer from all 11 respondents was 7 out of 10 for a ranking on my magazine front covers. The second question that required an answer for feedback on my pitch was ‘What do you think could be improved on my magazine front covers?’. The majority of respondents mentioned about how the wider range of colours could be used and how it could be more appealing to the audience.
  • 8. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued) Question 3 is ‘Was everything listed in the mark scheme covered throughout the pitch?’. About 81.82% of respondents answered yes compared to those who answered no which was 18.18%. Through those answering no, I gained to responses which were I was missing photoshoot plan and competitors. Q4 was based on if my proposals contained enough detail about each of my magazines and though this, every respondent answered yes to this specific question which meat that my proposals contained enough detail.

Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued) Q5 is based on what I could improve on each dps of both magazines, the majority of respondents said mainly about colour and images so if the main image could be bigger or more images could be added to it. Q6 is about whether my magazine ideas targeted the right audience and all of the respondents to the survey answered yes which meant both my magazine ideas were well suited for my target audience.
  • 10. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued) Q7 is the last and the most important question that is required as through gaining feedback from how I did in my pitch can help with how I should do for the next time I present a pitch. The majority of respondents said to speak clearer and louder so that they can understand what I am talking about for each slide I am presenting in my pitch and know I am confident in presenting my pitch. Also, some respondents said that eye contact should be made towards the audience so that they know that I am presenting my magazine ideas to them.
  • 11. Survey Monkey Feedback(Continued) This displays the email that I sent out to those who will see my pitch as well as the teachers and by sending this link, this gives them access into my survey in order to answer the questions listed in order for me to gain feedback on my pitch and see what improvements I can make the next time I present a pitch. Survey monkey is a website that enables free use into creating a survey on any topics and gaining responses through sharing the link to social media sites or through email. The reason as to why I used survey monkey is due to the fact it is an easy way to gain responses as to how well my pitch was, it is interactive and it has alternative options as to how to share the survey link to certain individuals.
  • 12. Calendar Events The official date of distribution for my magazine is 1st January 2016 which is the last date specified on my production plan. The problem with the date of distribution issued is that this is the key date for New Years Day which is an issue because all shops are closed on that day and many people could have been celebrating the night before which means they possibly want the next day to just relax or have time with family and friends. This could also mean the magazine could lose circulation at a high rate and could be beaten by its competitors.
  • 13. Resources Needed Equipment and cost • Office space-£300 per person per month- £97,200 for 1 year. • Desks(x9 -stand with screen)- £1,030 each making it a total of £9,270 • Chairs(x9-swivel chair)- £35 each making it a total of £315 • Printer-£49.99 • Cameras(X4)-£319.00 each so a total of £1,276.00 • Pens(box of 50 pens)-£8.33 • Paper(500 sheets)- £2.33 excl VAT • Adobe Creative Cloud(All apps) - £53.20 per month • Apple MacBook Air 13.3” (x9)- £899.00 each so the total is £8,091 Staff and cost ▻ Publisher-£25,000 ▻ Editor-£25,000 ▻ Journalist-£25,000 ▻ Writer-£25,000 ▻ Photographer-£25,000 ▻ Marketing-£25,000 ▻ Finance -£25,000 ▻ Design-£32,500 ▻ Human Resources-£23,724 Each list displays what equipment and staff are needed in order for me to set up and complete my magazine. Even though software's such as adobe Photoshop are vital, staff, an office and other equipment listed are needed. For the staff and cost, the salary earned is listed for each job role and they mainly start with the average income.
  • 14. Conclusion • To conclude LO5, this has a slide which explains about the witness statement that has the feedback that I got from the teacher who was analysing my pitch along with the audience and also speaks about what my strengths and weaknesses of my pitch were. I also made improvements to some of the content that is featured on my pitch and explained in a way how I improved them. In addition, I sent out a link of my survey monkey feedback page to those who watched my pitch and I was able to analyse the answers to the questions that I had put on my feedback page on survey monkey. Lastly, I spoke about calendar events so what events could clash with the release of the magazine and how they could effect the circulation figures for the magazine and I also put in a slide on what resources I need in order to make sure that the production of the magazine runs smoothly without any errors occurring.
