This document provides details on planning and producing a festival poster. It includes a mind map outlining ideas like logo, target audience, slogans and colour scheme. Hand drawn drafts and graphic layouts are presented. Artists being considered are listed. A production plan outlines tasks over 3 weeks such as finalizing designs, sending to print and releasing. Legal/ethical constraints and references are also noted to ensure compliance. The goal is to create appealing posters that effectively advertise the festival and its lineup.
2. Proposal
This is my proposal for NMH festival, it outlines
the ideas which will be incorporated and taken
into consideration whilst the festival poster is in
production.

Marketing
For my print based
advertisement, my target
audience would be young
adults(16+) and adults based
on the artists that are
featured at the festival as
well as the activities that are
available there
By marketing the
festival, it will be
advertised through
social media as those
within the target
audience will most
likely see
advertisements on
festivals through
synergy e.g. Facebook
and Twitter.
The colour scheme for the festival will
consists of white, blue and in general light
colour as even though the able to gain a
wider audience and conveys that the festival
is based on my magazine, this will be he
audience that this is an unforgettable event
the festival aims to release the full
lineup 4 months before the event
takes place as this gives time for
festival-goers to buy tickets but once
the lineup is released, they will be on
high demand.
Campaign
Message
The campaign message for
the festival is āreliving the
music" as it is able to bring
everyone together for a
unforgettable experience and
make sure that the artists on
the lineup list give their best
performance yet.

5. Own photos
These images that are displayed have all been taken by myself and they all relate as
they are all sunsets but taken in different locations as well as different orientations. The
top left image is most suited because it fits all the connotations needed for an
appealing background for my festival poster.

The hand drawn drafts and graphic layouts gives me an idea of what format would be
more suitable to use for my festival as it needs to appeal to the target audience and
enables me to see if the ideas that I have drawn out work well in a graphic layout.
10. Logo Design
My festival is based on my magazine NMH which
means I will be using fonts for the poster that will be
similar to the font used for the NMH logo. Have
decided on using the NMH logo but using a different
similar font for āFestivalā as it will connote to the
audience how it is relating to NMH magazine itself.
Font: Lemon MilkFont: Ge Body
Font: The Next Font
Font: The Bold Font
13. Advert of Inspiration
As shown on this festival poster, it
displays the headliners for Latitude
above the other artists and their
logos are in bigger text which conveys
to the audience how these artists are
more recognised and inferior
compared to the artists who are
below them. In addition, based on
Steve Neale(1980), I will be repeating
the use of the big text on the artistās
logo to convey to the audience that
these are the biggest names artists
and that this will be a major event
that everyone would go to.
The target audience would be
young adults as well as adults that
are within social classes C1, C2,D
and E due to the fact that young
adults and adults would be fans of
mainstream music that is within
the genre that the festival is
representing.
What I will repeat based on Steve
Neale(1980) is the way light colours
have been used for the poster as well
as using a sunset image of the festival
as the background which connotes
how calm and enjoyable the festival is
as well as it being a welcoming
atmosphere
The colour scheme for the festival will consists of white, blue and in
general light colour as even though the festival is based on my
magazine, this will be able to gain a wider audience and conveys to the
audience that this is an unforgettable event.
There will be 3 dates which will
outline what artists will be performing
on each day, this will gives the
audience an idea of when the festival
is yet to take place so that they can
book any important events or days off
before the festival takes place.
Above the logo for the festival, it
shows which company owns the
festival and it is also connoting to the
audience that this is what the
company is presenting to them.
Through presenting this, it is also
displaying to the audience the lineup
for the festival and why it is the
festival to go to in summer.
At the bottom of the festival poster, it
displays the well-known brands that
have agreed to sponsor the festival
and this is what I intend to repeat on
my festival poster to make it clear to
those looking at the poster that these
brands have agreed to support this
event.
14. Artists
As NMH magazine is going to be sponsoring NMH
festival, this means that the artists that will be at
the festival will come from the alternative and indie
rock genre. Artists which would be featured at my
festival would be The 1975, Bastille, Halsey, Twenty
One Pilots, Arctic Monkeys, Wolf Alice and many
more yet to be announced. These artists have a lot
in common as they are based around the same
genre of music meaning that people will attend as a
collective to see all of these artists perform at my
festival.
15. House Style
ā¢ My house style for my festival poster will need to be aesthetically
pleasing as well as appealing to the audience. This is why I have
chosen colours that are light but at the same time bold as this
needs to be a festival which is unforgettable and where everyone
will have the best experience possible. In addition, I will be using a
light background such as a sunset which will contrast with the font
and colour of the font that is used. Also, the fact that the festival is
set in the summer time, the sunset background represents the
emotion summer intends to put upon people so how if reflects a
relaxing, joyful and energetic emotion. With the font, it will be
consistent in terms of using bold font so that it is able to stand out
especially with those looking at the poster and the names of the
artists performing would be shown by using their own logo names
so that it is easier for the artists to identify which artistsā logo it is
that is due to perform at the festival.

pricing of A4 and A3 posters

especially for festival posters that

23. Conclusion
Overall, I have outlined all the ideas that will help with the production of the print-based
advertisement for NMH festival which is based on NMH magazine. In addition, I have made a
proposal and photoshoot plan which are both documents that have enabled me to come up with
important decisions that need to be taken into consideration whilst the production of my festival
poster is taking place. I also made a mind map which outlines my ideas for my festival so what the
chosen name is, whatās it slogan and what the target audience is. I also created a mood board
which consists of a group of images that are of famous festival posters that have been selected
from the internet which will inspire me with what sort of layout and design I should do for my
hand drawn drafts as well as graphic layouts. I also have a slide on my advert of inspiration as it
has all the elements which are similar to my ideas that I will incorporate into my festival poster.
There is a slide on what sort of artists will appear at my festival depending on their genre of
music. Furthermore, the slide on house style will help in terms of what the colour scheme of the
poster will be and why that colour scheme has been chosen. For location recce, I outlined where
the photoshoot will take place, what hazards need to be taken into consideration and what type
of shots will be used. Through legal and ethical issues, this will make sure that my festival poster
will be protected from any unlawful theft of work as well as making sure that it co-operates with
all the rules and guidelines listed on each of the legal and ethical issues. There is slides on how
much the staff will be paid, how much the cost of equipment needed in the office will be and the
printing costs depending on the quantity of posters chosen. Lastly, there is slides on production
plan as this outlines what plans are scheduled to take place in lead up to the festival date.
