C.S. Lewis, who is the author of Out of the Silent Planet , is a man who was well educated in his
religious faith of Christianity. A common theme in his works is based on his support for the Christian
world of religion and teaching. C.S. was known for his writings of fiction as seen through the work of
Out of the Silent Planet when the solar system of planets are renamed as something else and a man
journeys through many unknown species and areas of land. The main character, Dr. Elwin Ransom,
who is a teacher, plans an expedition to live with the people of Mars. He is captured and taken by

He begins to learn more about the creatures he has encountered on this land and becomes educated in
their culture habits and communications. Dr. Ransom questions who is the ruler of this planet and how
they are governed. He finds out that an element named Oyarsa , who lives in another area called
Meldilorn , is the ruler of the entire planet population. Dr. Ransom communicates to these creatures
that he must go and speak to Oyarsa at Meldilorn , which is taken over by Malacandrians. After close
examination, Dr. Ransom concludes that the planet he is on is actually the real planet, Mars. Because
Oyarsa is not a physical being, it is not visible to the human eye but can be heard. While Oyarsa
summoned not only Dr. Ransom but also Devine and Weston were also summoned. The three men
were all tempted because assumptions concluded that Devine was going to steal gold from
Malacandra and bring it back to planet Earth and Weston was going to take over planet Mars. Oyarsa
plays around with Dr. Ransom for a longer period of time to see if he becomes tempted like Devine
and Weston were. Dr. Ransom was told that an animal like a version of Oyarsa existed at one time and
was in control of the planet Earth, which was called Thulcandra , which in translation meant noiseless
planet but no communication has been received that this creature was still in control of it or not.
Oyarsa advises only Devine and Weston to return to

Varian Argue That The Fundamental Principles
Varian (1999) argues that the fundamental principles with regard to competition are very much
relevant to the new economy considering the changes ushered by e commerce. These principles
include marketing, interconnection, and price matching. According to him, marketing is very much
present in e commerce since electronic retailers use versioning. Like loyalty programs and promotions
to increase their market shares. Interconnection is also of the utmost importance as consumers want to
be connected to as large a network as possible. Finally, intense price competition would also prompt
merchants to look for ways to increase customer loyalty and adopt pricing strategies that reduce the
intensity of competition (De Vera, 2004). In the other hand,

History Of Heroin
Heroin: History, Societal Impact and Next Steps
Heroin is processed from the poppy plant. The Opium poppy had been cultivated and marketed for
thousands of years. It was used first in religious ceremonies and for early medicinal purposes but at
that time it was not synthesized as heroin. Heroin was originally produced in a chemist lab back in
1874 by C. R. Alder Wright.1 At that time the production of heroin was in response to the demand for
the need of a non addictive pain killer. The substance was produced but sat dormant for a number of
years. It was not until several years later that heroin was marketed by the German company, Bayer. An
employee, Heinrich Dreser, suggested the substance would be a valuable ingredient in cough
medicines, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Food Intake 3 Days
The Encyclopedia of Women s Health (2004) defines nutrition as the sum of processes involved with
the consumption of food. The human body depends on nutrients from carbohydrates, proteins, fats,
water, and fiber to function. Nutrition, exercise, and an appropriate diet work cohesively to maintain
that the body is working productively and at full capacity. This week s assignment required the
recording of daily food intakes for a span of three days. Data from each meal was inputted into the

The body needs lipids to generate energy, but a surplus in lipid intake contributes to the development
of heart disease (Nall, 2011). The honey baked ham and chicken that my family enjoyed did have a
fatty film of saturated fat. I also tend to cook with milk and butter that is another saturated fat. On top
of my bread pudding on Saturday was a tablespoon scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Personal Intake
After reviewing foods that provide the body with protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, it was imperative
to review my own personal intakes. My personal intake for the duration of the study was 2011kcal
with my recommended DRI at 2204 kcal. Most of my daily intakes were within the recommended
range, but there are areas within my diet that I need to adjust.
Protein
My protein DRI was to stay within 55 193g of which I consumed 72 g still within the recommend
range for my individual parameters. Proteins are essential for growth, tissue repair, and enzyme
protection (Cespedes, 2012). This project was eye opening as I realized the need to manage and
balance what I eat with my physical activity to offset my consumption intakes.
Complete Protein
It is noteworthy that majority of the meals I consumed centered on complete proteins. Some meals had
both complete protein and incomplete protein such as rice and corn. A complete protein source affords

Musée des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden Essay
Suffering is embedded in our daily lives. There are devastating things going on in our daily
environments and yet, people seldom realize this as they occupy themselves with other tasks. W.H.
Auden s, Musée des Beaux Arts, is a statement on human perceptions and how we use them to
observe, or block out human suffering. While we are doing ordinary things like eating, or opening a
window, bad things can be happening to others and it is as easy as looking up, to see what is actually
going on. Auden illustrates societies indifference to human suffering through the form of his poem and
by alluding to artwork that compares human perceptions and juxtaposes ordinary images with images
of suffering and tragedy. The form of Musée des Beaux Arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The lines are enjambed with phrases stopping in the middle of new lines and lines spilling into other
lines. The lines do not pause to acknowledge the end of sentences like people seldom pause their daily
lives to acknowledge the suffering of those around them. Auden also uses bad syntax in the last line of
the poem, had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on. Auden may have chosen to write in this free
form to demonstrate that people are so indifferent to what is going on around them that it does not
make any difference what form the poem is written in, as it will only be overlooked and not given any
attention. The form of the poem allows the reader to consider the ways in which suffering is masked
by the frenzy of everyday life and that even the acknowledged suffering of others does not seem to be
of any concern to anybody but the sufferer. Auden s poem is a criticism of human perceptions and how
we use them to detect, or suppress human suffering. In the first half of the poem Auden compares
versions of indifference by portraying youth and age, animals, and humans (Shmoop, 2014). In the
first few lines of the poem, Auden comments on the perceptions of the Old Masters and how they were
never wrong in their discernment of suffering. He then compares the old masters perceptions to the
perceptions of children and animals and how they are unaware of,

Art Vs Visual Art
Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th
century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to
convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual
depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given
that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one
can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be
evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any
assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why
someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them
or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch.
Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art.
Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as
composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through
a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed
later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its

Essay about Richard as an Anti-hero
Richard as an Anti hero:
To what extent does Richard embody this archetype?
In William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, Richard is portrayed as physically deformed and
psychologically affected. It is believed that his inner soul is a reflection of his physical deformities.
Richard is considered as the protagonist of this play, however this is highly contradictive. A
protagonist is the hero of the story who exhibits characteristics of courage and perseverance, and is
admired for their brave deeds as well as their noble qualities. Richard however, contradicts the
character portrayal of a hero and demonstrates himself as the exact opposite: an anti hero. The play
opens up with Richard s, (Duke of Gloucester) soliloquy: I am determined to ... Show more content on

Richard says to Lady Anne: Your beauty was the cause of the effect:
Your beauty, that did haunt me in my sleep
To undertake the death of all the world,
So I might live one hour in your sweet bosom (1.2.126 129)
Richard takes a huge risk, handing Anne a knife and demanding she take away his life for he had
murdered both her father and husband. He insists to her it is only fair that she take his life in response.
Lady Anne rejects, falling for Richard s trap for she accepts his proposal of love. Richard succeeds in
manipulation. In the scene, Richard plays the role of a lover who will provide Anne with the emotional
support she would need; especially after suffering two loses. By persuading and manipulating Lady
Anne, Richard was able to get what he was really after; the power and a truce with the house of
Lancaster. This method of persuasion and manipulation are the basic fundamentals that Richard uses
on those he sees as useful in accomplishing his devilish deeds.
Family, loyalty, trust and marriage are some of the values and traditions that Richard ignores. Richard
acts like a caring brother (to Clarence), devoted lover, the innocent who is unjustly accused, a pious
man of God and the simple fellow who is too modest to become King (Cambridge 235). I will deliver
for you or else lie for you (1, 1,115.) are the exact words that Richard expresses to Clarence when
Clarence was being sent to the tower. As soon as Clarence is out of sight, Richard s

Analysis Of The 1918 Influenza Pandemic
Scientists studies have led to a greater understanding of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Through
conducting tests on the remains of victims, as well as consulting morgues, and numerous accounts of
that time period, scientists have finally come up with a theory and solution for influenza.
By comparing recent flu strains with the 1918 influenza scientists found reasons to believe that
the1918 influenza pandemic began as a bird virus. The bird virus would have adapted to humans
overtime eventually becoming as deadly to humans as it had been to birds. Once the virus adapted to
humans it was spread through the physicality of a handshake or hug which is highly common among
humans.
In 1918 no one knew why people were getting sick and dying. There was

Honor And Glory In The Iliad Of Homer
Honor and glory are two important things for the heroes of Greece. Greek heroes live all their life to
pursue honor and glory, and they always want the society to know their reputation. Honor and glory
create many epic wars which take the lives of many people, and it exists at every stage. One of them is
the fall of Troy, and it is a thing... whose glory shall perish never (Homer, Iliad 2.324). For the Greeks,
they always appreciate the personal honor, family honor and the honor of the country, so they always
try to do everything to achieve that goal. Even they want that after they die, the honor and the glory of
them will persist forever. Honor and glory prove a hero, so those are the foundations for everything in
the Iliad of Homer. First, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases, people may achieve honor and also love, but there are a lot of cases that people have to
sacrifice love or honor because they cannot have both. It s a very difficult choice for those who
encounter this case. They must weigh the decision very carefully because they choose the wrong one,
they will regret for all their life. For the Greeks, their honor is always paramount. If they have to
choose between love and honor, they will choose to sacrifice love to keep their honor. For example,
Agamemnon sacrifices his daughter to wrest the victory to him to gain honor and glory. To stain with
virgin blood a father s hands, and slay My daughter, by the altar s side! (Aeschylus, Oresteia 232 233).
By doing that, Agamemnon had respect from his men, but he lost respect from his wife. Agamemnon

book into sections, which include the Dream Job and the Action Plan. Each of these two parts
encourages students to pursue a brand of success that will provide personal satisfaction and happiness
by providing useful tips for getting the most out of their time in school. In the very beginning of the

Whatever a person s passion is can translate into a job as long as the person is able to be creative. The
author reiterates how necessary it is to enjoy oneself as much as possible and it is painfully clear why
this constant reminder is necessary. Many students succumb to pressure from family and peers to
settle for stability rather than following their personal dreams. There are quotes throughout the book
from many influential and popular figures like Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey, Marilyn Monroe, and
Jim Carrey that champion being an individual who is fearless about following a passion. By including
stories and quotations from familiar figures, Combs makes achieving a dream seem feasible to college
students who are aware that it is often much easier to succumb to fears. By outlining six common
fears, the author identifies why some people may be preventing themselves from reaching their full
potential. Action is essential to combating fear and becoming successful. Specific actions are provided
in the book to beat major fears. The author realizes how easy it is to allow a fear of failure as defined
by a 3.0 GPA hold someone back from following their dream. For this reason, the value of experiences
such as internships and study abroad over grades is extraordinarily essential to developing someone s
sense of self worth. Experiences

Structural Steel And Sustainability Of Construction Materials
Structural Steel and Sustainability The sustainability of construction materials is a huge topic in today
s world of engineering. Finding a way to improve the efficiency, costs, and environmental impact of
construction is a key discussion topic. When it comes to structural steel being used today, our society
is pushing towards the use of green steel. This term is used to represent the life cycle of steel as well
as the production of structural steel. While most construction materials differ significantly from one
another, structural steel is manufactured from recycled materials, but only at a limited number of
locations. Another important aspect of green steel is the cradle to cradle process that it goes through.
The cradle to cradle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over ninety percent of structural steel is able to be obtained from recycled materials; only two percent
of steel goes into landfills after the use of its lifetime, while the other ninety eight percent is used
again for other buildings and needs. One thing to keep in mind is that once the steel is recycled, it does
not lose any of its attributes and is not considered to be down cycled. Structural steel is able to
maintain all of it characteristics and can be used to build just about anything. Not only do buildings
being constructed today have recycled steel from old structures, but they can also contain material
from old vehicles and appliances. A very important component of recycling structural steel is mill
production. The cradle to cradle nature of steel has caused an increase in efficiency and waste
utilization of steel mills. The recycling process has improved so much over the years that we are even
able to capture the dust that is produced in the process and in turn use it to our advantage. Mill
production has become very efficient and will only improve as our electric grid improves. As the
electric grids across the United States become more renewable, we will in turn be able to decrease the
carbon footprint left behind by steel production. Since 1980, we have been able to produce the same
amount of steel at almost twelve hours faster. Today we are able to produce

Examples Of Stamina In Night By Elie Wiesel
The Holocaust was a time of great suffering and hopelessness for Jewish people. About two thirds of
the entire Jewish population was brutally killed. One third of all Jews persevered and survived the
appalling events happening in and out of the concentration camps. One boy, out of that one third that
survived and pushed through was Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel, the holocaust survivor, displays stamina in
his memoir physically, mentally, and spiritually.
First off, Elie Wiesel demonstrates stamina by proving his perseverance physically. In the memoir
Night, the text states, I went straight to my block. My wound had reopened and was bleeding: the
snow under my feet turned red (pg. 82). The example tells how Elie didn t stay in the infirmary and

The memoir claims, Eight simple short words. Yet that was the moment when I left my mother... And I
walked with my father, with the men (pg. 29). The text explains how Elie left his mother and
continued on with the men. This can prove to be mental stamina because instead of being sad and
miserable about leaving his mother, he stays strong and continues walking. Additionally, Wiesel shows
mental perseverance by not showing his emotions when someone got hanged. In Elie Wiesel s
memoir, he says, I remember that on that evening, the soup tasted better than ever...(pg. 63). The
example describes an instance where Wiesel says that the soup tasted great that evening. He says this
because watching the hanging didn t bother him because he had witnessed so many other acts of
dehumanization previously. This example shows stamina because he is demonstrating that he is not
bothered by the horrifying act and is acting like nothing is off. Elie Wiesel proves his mental
perseverance and strength during the

Explication Of The Lamb By William Blake
Explication of The Lamb
The Lamb is a short poem written by William Black, an english poet and writer who lived from 1757
to 1827, a lot of his works were written near the start of the romantic period. This movement focused
on the expressions of human spirituality, with a focus on nature. He lived a simple life and worked as
an illustrator and writer. The Lamb is a lyrics poem that contains two ten line stanzas. Each pair of
lines rhymes with the correlating line and this persists throughout the poem. The Lamb s theme alone
is to praise God for creating something so virtuous. The first stanza consists of Blake posing a
question, which sets the tone for the entirety of the poem. It is easy to identify that the question is
directly referring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the symbolism is used to describe the lamb itself as well as its sustenance. Another literary
device is of course, the biblical allusion of the lamb and the Lord, as well as their relation. Blake
honours Jesus specifically with the line, He became a little child (line 16) for the sacrifice he made for
humanity by coming to earth. In addition, the lines, I a child and thou a lamb, we are called by his
name (Lines 17 18) further expand on the religious theme of the poem. Through this it is implied that
the speaker had been a child all along;which correlates with Blake s works in Songs of Innocence.
Ultimately this is a surprisingly simple poem with a relatively deep underlying message. This format
syncs up beautifully with the poems messages of a lamb s innocence and therefore a child s innocence.
The style is also accentuated with the simple verbiage, the use of repetition, and the device of a child
narrator. The larger theme comes into play still dealing with religion when the poem is aligned with its
counterpart The Tyger, to question God s intentions behind him creating all of humanity including
what is holy and virtuous, and what is vile and

Essay on Hazing in the Marine Corps
The United States Marine Corps is unfortunately involved in an underlying issue within its own ranks
called hazing. Hazing is an overlooked problem being dealt with today in the military as it is enforced
and prevented. As hazing is becoming more commonly identified, Marines are being held accountable.
As you read this paper you will find out about this issue. You will be engaged in the Marine Corps
order that covers this very topic. General James F. Amos scrutinizes the act of hazing in saying,
Hazing is contrary to our core values of honor, courage, and commitment and is prejudicial to good

There are definitely a lot of descriptions that accurately describe the act of hazing according to the
definition. It is important to know the specifics and intricacies of hazing in order to fully understand it.
Of course hazing is not exclusive to the United States Military, it has a wide effect on civilian life like
college students, band members, high school upper class men, and professional athletic teams are also
involved in some form of hazing. Hazing is not something to be ignored, countless of overqualified
honorable service member s careers have been destroyed for times when hazing has turned into a bad
situation even lives have crumbled due to being involved in such a heinous offense. The definition of
cruel hazing is able or disposed to inflicting pain or suffering, examples include mass punishment for
the wrong doing of one individual to be included in a team, group, or members of any certain party.
Another example of cruel hazing is making harmful or abusive threats to an individual. Over a period
of time, telling threats can emotionally damage the person. Hazing through physical means is not

Sustainability Report of BP
What responsibility did the executives of BP have in making more socially responsible and safety
conscious decisions at the expense of not meeting the consumer demand of cheap gas and thus
lowering the returns for shareholders and their own compensation?
Executives in many prominent companies must constantly be aware of consumer sentiments in regards
to business practices. As such, executives have a very compelling social obligation for safety and
compliance. This is particularly important in industries that can cause systemic damage to both the
society and the environment. Oil companies are no different in this regard. A drilling mistake can have
catastrophic consequences for all stakeholders involved, as evidenced by the case. Ultimately,
executives should put ethical and social considerations first as it will directly influence profits. By
doing what is best for the customer, the business will eventually profit. Many of the socially
responsible initiatives started by company s are really an effort to increase sales. It is proven that

Quality Management System
Introduction
Quality is a word which has been used for a very long time, lots of books have been written about it,
and many of the world scientists have defined it in many different ways. In this research paper, I will
emphasis on the Quality Management System, why is it important? What is it used for? What is the
importance of having a Quality Management System? Many people think implementing QMS costs a
lot and all the benefit is a piece of a paper which say that your company is certified in having QMS so
you can only hang this picture or certificate on the wall and tell your smart customer that you have it.
In fact, no blames on them, they have not used this system yet, they do not know that this system save
a lot and a lot of money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard is ISO 9001:2000 which is concerned about the QMS. The company needs to understand
the requirement and be familiar with it.
Assign a team and agree your strategy The company should begin the entire implementation process
by preparing organizational strategy with top management. Responsibility for a QMS lies with Senior
Management; therefore it is vital that Senior Management is involved from the beginning of the
process.
Consider Training If the company seeking to implement a Quality Management System, there are a
range of workshops, seminars and training courses should be taken by employees concerned with the
implementation. These courses qualify the employees to be internal auditor of the system and external
auditors for sub contactors or suppliers.
Review Consultancy Options The company can receive advice from independent consultants on how
to implement the quality management system. They have the experience in implementing a QMS and
can ensure to avoid costly mistakes.
Choose a registrar The registrar is the 3rd party, who come and assess the effectiveness of the quality
management system, and issue a certificate if it meet the requirements of

Social Exchange Theory, And Uncertainty Events
It s not an overstatement to say that sometimes one specific communication encounter can make or
break a relationship. Therefore, it s important to acknowledge how communicating during a fight
affects the overall status of a relationship. In this specific scenario, Denise and Jose are a recently
married couple. Ever since they ve been married, Denise has felt a distance between her and Jose that
wasn t present before. She has been avoiding bringing this up, but finally decides to do so one day
after Jose comes home from work. An argument ensues about the problems in their relationship and
they conclude their issues started after they got married. Hence, within this paper, I will take a closer
look at Jose and Denise s scenario and analyze how their case exhibits three communication concepts:
avoiding, social exchange theory, and uncertainty events. After the analysis, I will give detailed
recommendations on what should be done in the future to improve their communication and
relationships. In Jose and Denise s situation, Denise started having concerns over their relationship
shortly after they got married six. However, Denise didn t speak up because she didn t want to rock
the boat so soon into their marriage, worried that Jose would leave her if she started complaining. This
is an example of the escapist style avoiding, which according to the text is when you do not express
your own needs and goals, even if you have a grievance
(O Hair et al., 2015, p.228). Denise,

Why Is Henrietta Lacks Unethical
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a novel written by Rabecca Skloot that outlines the life and
story of a woman named Henrietta Lacks and her families struggle to discover the truth. Henrietta
Lacks was and African American women who was diagnosed with cervical cancer at the age of thirty.
A doctor at John Hopkins Hospital examined Henrietta and a biopsy of the cancerous tissue was
retrieved. Henrietta received treatment for her cancer, but the cancer was too aggressive and she soon
passed away at age of thirty one, but her cells continue to live today. Henrietta Lack s cells were
unlike any other humans cells ever examined. The cells were able to grow, multiply, and divide
outside of the human body in a lab (Skloot 2010). This was a major scientific discovery. Henrietta s
cells, more commonly known to the public as HeLa, aided in the creation of several scientific
discoveries and are still used today. It is because of HeLa we have the polio vaccine, a better
understanding of cancer, and cells in general. The cells have even been sent into space and have been
exposed to nuclear testing and to toxins (BigPicture). Although Henrietta Lacks s cells have done a lot
good, many ethical issues surround her case such as privacy issues, monetary compensation,
exploitation, and cell contamination to name a few. Perhaps the most important and controversial
ethical issue in Hennrietta s case resides around consent, or the lack there of. When Henrietta was at
John Hopkins receiving her cancer treatment a doctor by the name of TeLinde took a sample of
Henrietta s cervix without her knowledge or consent. But first though no one had told Henrietta that
Telinde was collecting sample or asked she wanted to be a donor Wharton picked up a sharp knife and
shaved two dime sized pieces of tissue from Henritta s cervix: one from her tumor, and one from the
healthy cervical tissue nearby. Then he placed the sample in a glass dish (Skloot, 2010, 33). At the
time of the treatment Henrietta was unconscious and completely unable to accept or reject the biopsy
(Skloot, 2010, 33). Acquiring proper consent from an individual is an ongoing process and needs to be
asked for at every stage of a study with human subjects. The basic

Research Paper On Herodotus
In this section, Herodotus begins by telling the story of how the slaves of Scythia had formed a new
generation with the Scythian women left behind while the Scythians dominated Asia. Herodotus
writes that upon return, the men went to war with the slaves, but stopped, saying when they saw us
armed, they naturally felt that they were as good as we are, and were meeting us on equal terms; but
when they see us coming with whips instead, the will remember they are slaves. Once they admit that,
they will never try to stand up to us (241). This passage reinforces the notion that some people need or
like to be enslaved. Herodotus then describes the land and the people that are to the north and east,
beyond the Tanais bordering Scythia. Herodotus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Teaching Research Methods Within The Classroom
Abstract
Psychology undergraduates are required to study research methods within their course.
Psychology undergraduates are required to study research methods within their course. Within this are
many different statistical definitions which have been considered the most challenging aspect of the
curriculum.
An individual undergraduate psychology student took part in this study. The study aimed to increase
the accuracy and fluency of the recall of these definitions by applying an intervention phase of reading
through SAFMEDS cards aloud previous to recalling them in one minute. The SAFMEDS cards were
made up of key statistical concepts taken from a study guide which is core to the research methods
module. Results indicated that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is more of a requirement now as students are being given greater opportunities within their
course due to the new resources being put into psychology departments. Part of this means that
students are now able to conduct their own research within the third year of their degree, meaning they
need a deep level of understanding for statistics in order to accumulate adequate conclusions from
their results.
Precision teaching (PT) has proved to be an effective tool when aiming to teach students material
fluently and accurately. Lindsley (1990) showed that students in precision teaching classrooms who
were told to keep records of their own academic and non academic performance and use these records
to guide their performance and eventually lead to more academic success due to the visual
representation they had. This element of precision teaching is particularly useful as learners who
improve this way are susceptible to fluency based procedures which often consist of SAFMEDS or
packs of cards similar to this. SAFMEDS are typically used to help students become fluent in
definitions and basic concepts, in this experiment they are being used to improve a base of knowledge
on research methods within psychology.

Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Case Study
Introduction
The Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Area (SVWMA) is located immediately south of Ely, along
U.S. Highway 93/50 in White Pine County. The property consists of 6,426 acres and includes Comins
Lake, which is located about six miles south of Ely near the area headquarters. Nevada Department of
Wildlife (NDOW) has had a long term interest in the acquisition of this valuable property, dating back
to the 1980s. Ely community leaders, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), and numerous other
partners worked together to make the purchase happen with NDOW s acquisition of the property in
1999. The property was established as the Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Area in 2000. The area
surrounding SVWMA has a rich history of use by Native Americans and early explorers. For over 130

Why Advertising Alcohol Is Destroying Public Well-Being Essay

C.P. Reading Writing

Why Advertising Alcohol Is Destroying Public Well Being When I was nine years old, I remember
seeing the most delectable, mouthwatering commercial on television. It was for beer. Growing up in a
family that did not drink, I never thought beer could look so appetizing. The beverage was everywhere
I looked except for in my own fridge. Not only adults, but kids and teens everywhere are being
bombarded with alcohol advertisements. Many of these youths choose to succumb to these ads and
end up with destructive drinking habits. Not only is alcohol damaging to youth but also to adults.
According to a U.S. study, adults were found to put themselves at severe risk of harm after having
more than four drinks in one session (Medew). This number can change depending on the gender, size,
athleticism, and other factors of the consumer. Although some may say that alcohol is not too
damaging if drunk responsibly, the fact that alcohol is a direct route to damaging organs like the liver,
heart, and pancreas and harming the brain is a red flag (NIHSeniorHealth). To whatever extent,
alcohol weakens the brain s control over movement, speech, memory, and especially judgement,
which often leads to impulsive behavior and other dangerous activities (NIHSeniorHealth). There are
plenty of harmful side effects of drinking, so the obvious solution to preserving the nation s well being
is to not encourage it. One quote by a Seattle

Social Movements And Its Effects Of Social Change
Social change is the significant alteration over time of behavior patterns and culture. Basically its and
change to a social process. Many sociologist are concerned with the effects of change but, you need to
look at both sides of the argument all the time. Situations like these happen all the time globally. No
society goes unchanged. Some societies may change at a slow rate but it happens and nobody notices
until we go back and look at history. The change that occurs is natural so there is no reason for
anybody to worry.
Social change has a lot to do with social movements. Social movements are groups of people trying to
change something in an established group or society. A huge social movement that happened in the
past and is still happening is women s rights. The opportunities that men get are being offered to
women, as they should be. Another movement is getting the medicine and foods needed in 3rd world
countries. Before there were no programs or people getting involved that gave us the opportunity to
help the less fortunate.
The internet has a key role on how it effects the globe. The are many negative and positive things
about it. Some negatives are that people might rely on it too much. You might always use it for GPS

you going to get from point A to point B. Another problem is it s hurting the economy. Everybody is

The Death Of The Black Death In Europe
The Black Death spread throughout Europe producing one of the deadliest and most widespread
pandemics in history. This disease arrived in Europe, in October 1347, as 12 Genoese ships docked in
hope to trade silk and spices. As the town s people gathered on the docks to greet these ships after
their long journey across the Black Sea, they encountered an unimaginable surprise! Upon the ships
most of the sailors were dead. Individuals described these sailors as being covered with mysterious
black boils that oozed blood and pus ( Black Death ). These ships intending to trade instead passed a
new disease, thus the illness of the Black Death was born. The plague continued to spread quickly
across Europe as these trade ships traveled to vast regions including China, India, Persia, Syria and
Egypt. The plague is an illness cause by the bacteria strain Yersinia pestis. This particular bacteria
strain is known to live within wild rodents especially rats. This disease was transmitted to humans
when fleas began to feed upon the blood of infected rats. A toxin produced by Yersinia pestis left the
fleas unable to digest the rat blood. This inability to digest the blood left the fleas to vomit infected rat
blood into the human bloodstream thus transmitting the plague to humans. The plague is now
categorized into three basic types including Bubonic, Septicemic and Pneumonic. The plague has
severe symptoms including, fever, chills, headaches, swollen painful lymph nodes, bleeding,

Prostate Cancer Synthesis
Abstract: Prostate cancer is the leading mortality cancer amongst males. This cancer is due to the
signaling increase of androgen and androgen receptors, which is a gene that associates with the risk of
prostate cancer. Over expression of androgen receptors occurs in androgen independent cancer.
Prostate tumors advance to androgen independent state where they progress in the absence of
circulating testosterone. Typically, treatments for prostate cancer are surgery and radiation. Most
effective treatments in the early stage of prostate cancer includes suppression of AR function either by
blocking androgen signaling with anti androgen bicalutanmide (Casodex) or flutamide or by inhibiting
the conversion of testosterone to the potent androgen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although PA is most abundant, EA has been shown in other studies to exhibit anticarcinogenic
properties such as induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis as well as the inhabitation of tumor
formation and growth particularly in animals. Studies show that consumption of phytochemical rich
diet reduces the risk of prostate cancer. With that being said, in this study there were several
experiments done to show the correlation of how pomegranate in the form of POMx, PJ, PA and EA
will help reduce the risk of getting prostate cancer by reducing the signaling of AR. Although studies
have yet to find the mechanism of gene down regulation there have been several studies that show that
the LNaCP AR cell line is overexpressed which leads to prostate cancer. In this study the cells lines
LNCaP and LNcAP AR cell lines are closely examined. The main aim of this study is to show how
pomegranate and its polyphenols can reduce the androgen receptors that are overexpressed to decrease
the risk of prostate cancer and the tumor size of prostate cancer.

What are the techniques or processes involved in mining?
The mining techniques that involved in underground mining are Bord and pillar is the and was very
common in Australian like in NSW. This method uses a grid of tunnels that involves a lot of cutting
panels into a coal seam. While leaving the pillars of coal behind to support the mine.
Longwall mining was introduced and began in the 1960s. Longwall mining uses a mechanical shearer
to cut the coal away although the hydraulic powered holds up and supports roof of the underground
mine. When the coal is removed from the work site, the supports that are on the roof of the
underground mine are moved forward and the roof collapse behind them, which actually can result in
subsidence. Longwall mining are much better than the Bord and pillar. This is because that it does not
leave the pillars of coal behind. It is because that mineral resource can be removed out more.
Explaining briefly the safety issues of the Underground Mining:
The safety issues for underground mining are that the employ and empower a skilled health and safety

Both Stories illustrate each cultures morals to a certain extinct. In the Epic of Gilgamesh true
friendship and comradery is exemplified through the relationship of Gilgamesh Enkidu. They desire
companionship and closeness Enkidu is pleased: he longed for a comrade, for one who would

Henrietta Lacks Outline
Introduction
Henrietta Lacks was a poor African American that became one of the most vital tools in developing
medicines like polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping, and much more. She was a loving mother of
five, wife, sister, and friend to many that was taken on October 4, 1951 at the age of thirty one to
cervical cancer. Henrietta s cells were taken without her knowledge to develop the first ever immortal
line of cells.
Key Idea 1: Family
Loretta Pleasant now known as Henrietta Lacks was born on August 1, 1920 in Roanoke, Virginia.
Her mother died in 1924 while giving birth to her tenth child and her father took her and the rest of the
children back to Clover, Virginia. The children were split up to live with their relatives. Henrietta was

But even more important than that was the fact that no one even told her family that the cells existed
until the 70 s. Her children were used in research without their consent and without answering their
simple questions about the cells. This was scary especially for her daughter, Deborah. She worried that
there were clones of her mother wandering around. Her family was also upset that at one point her
medical records were released to a reporter and published without her family s permission. Her sons
were angry when they learned that people were buying and selling Henrietta s cells, which helped start
a multibillion dollar industry. But unfortunately for them they had no money.
Key Idea 5: Most important woman in modern medicine Her cells, taken from a cervical cancer biopsy
became the first cells to reproduce infinitely in a lab. HeLa cells are still the standard in labs around
the world today. Before HeLa cells, scientists spent more time trying to keep cells alive than actually

Notes On Principles Of Management
MGMT10002 (Principles of Management)
Critically Analyse a Current (2011 onwards) Article Drawing Upon One Major Management Concept
Covered in The Course.
Corporate Culture, as defined by Daft and Samson (2015, p. 112), is the common code of conduct,
philosophies and suppositions shared between members within an organisation that encompasses the
entirety of it. All organisations have a prevalent culture that can be characterised as either stable or
flexible, concentrating either on its internal or external workings as described by Cameron and Quinn
s (1999, cited in Yazici 2011, p. 21) Competing Values Model (CVM) of culture. This essay will
critically evaluate the chosen article s theory that a company s culture and success is determined by
the attitudes exhibited by its top leaders, rather than the national culture. It will do so by analysing
examples of leaders behaviours, the national culture of a country and the effect of culture on an
organisation.
The leadership behaviours of corporation leaders can affect its culture by influencing the members of
the corporation from top down. Culture is taught to employees by those in experienced managerial
positions; so regularly practised that it becomes the norm, and is then emulated by new employees
who continue the behavioural patterns (Hellriegel et al. 2004, cited in Mishra Raykundaliya 2011, p.
87; Kruger 2003, cited in Mishra Raykundaliya 2011, p. 87). As Shim and Steer s (2012, p. 585)

While Oyarsa summoned not only Dr. Ransom but also Devine and Weston were also summoned. The three men were all tempted because assumptions concluded that Devine was going to steal gold from Malacandra and bring it back to planet Earth and Weston was going to take over planet Mars. Oyarsa plays around with Dr. Ransom for a longer period of time to see if he becomes tempted like Devine and Weston were. Dr. Ransom was told that an animal like a version of Oyarsa existed at one time and was in control of the planet Earth, which was called Thulcandra , which in translation meant noiseless planet but no communication has been received that this creature was still in control of it or not. Food Intake Week 2 Essay Food Intake 3 Days Name SCI/220 December 3, 2012 Teacher Food Intake 3 Days The Encyclopedia of Women s Health (2004) defines nutrition as the sum of processes involved with the consumption of food. The human body depends on nutrients from carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water, and fiber to function. Nutrition, exercise, and an appropriate diet work cohesively to maintain that the body is working productively and at full capacity. The honey baked ham and chicken that my family enjoyed did have a fatty film of saturated fat. I also tend to cook with milk and butter that is another saturated fat. On top of my bread pudding on Saturday was a tablespoon scoop of vanilla ice cream. Personal Intake After reviewing foods that provide the body with protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, it was imperative to review my own personal intakes. My personal intake for the duration of the study was 2011kcal with my recommended DRI at 2204 kcal. Most of my daily intakes were within the recommended range, but there are areas within my diet that I need to adjust. Protein My protein DRI was to stay within 55 193g of which I consumed 72 g still within the recommend range for my individual parameters. Proteins are essential for growth, tissue repair, and enzyme protection (Cespedes, 2012). This project was eye opening as I realized the need to manage and balance what I eat with my physical activity to offset my consumption intakes. Complete Protein It is noteworthy that majority of the meals I consumed centered on complete proteins. Some meals had both complete protein and incomplete protein such as rice and corn. • 7. Musée des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden Essay Suffering is embedded in our daily lives. There are devastating things going on in our daily environments and yet, people seldom realize this as they occupy themselves with other tasks. W.H. Auden s, Musée des Beaux Arts, is a statement on human perceptions and how we use them to observe, or block out human suffering. While we are doing ordinary things like eating, or opening a window, bad things can be happening to others and it is as easy as looking up, to see what is actually going on. Auden illustrates societies indifference to human suffering through the form of his poem and by alluding to artwork that compares human perceptions and juxtaposes ordinary images with images of suffering and tragedy. The form of Musée des Beaux Arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lines are enjambed with phrases stopping in the middle of new lines and lines spilling into other lines. The lines do not pause to acknowledge the end of sentences like people seldom pause their daily lives to acknowledge the suffering of those around them. Auden also uses bad syntax in the last line of the poem, had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on. Auden may have chosen to write in this free form to demonstrate that people are so indifferent to what is going on around them that it does not make any difference what form the poem is written in, as it will only be overlooked and not given any attention. The form of the poem allows the reader to consider the ways in which suffering is masked by the frenzy of everyday life and that even the acknowledged suffering of others does not seem to be of any concern to anybody but the sufferer. Auden s poem is a criticism of human perceptions and how we use them to detect, or suppress human suffering. In the first half of the poem Auden compares versions of indifference by portraying youth and age, animals, and humans (Shmoop, 2014). In the first few lines of the poem, Auden comments on the perceptions of the Old Masters and how they were never wrong in their discernment of suffering. He then compares the old masters perceptions to the perceptions of children and animals and how they are unaware of, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Art Vs Visual Art Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its ... • 9. Essay about Richard as an Anti-hero Richard as an Anti hero: To what extent does Richard embody this archetype? In William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, Richard is portrayed as physically deformed and psychologically affected. It is believed that his inner soul is a reflection of his physical deformities. Richard is considered as the protagonist of this play, however this is highly contradictive. A protagonist is the hero of the story who exhibits characteristics of courage and perseverance, and is admired for their brave deeds as well as their noble qualities. Richard however, contradicts the character portrayal of a hero and demonstrates himself as the exact opposite: an anti hero. He insists to her it is only fair that she take his life in response. Lady Anne rejects, falling for Richard s trap for she accepts his proposal of love. Richard succeeds in manipulation. In the scene, Richard plays the role of a lover who will provide Anne with the emotional support she would need; especially after suffering two loses. By persuading and manipulating Lady Anne, Richard was able to get what he was really after; the power and a truce with the house of Lancaster. This method of persuasion and manipulation are the basic fundamentals that Richard uses on those he sees as useful in accomplishing his devilish deeds. Family, loyalty, trust and marriage are some of the values and traditions that Richard ignores. Through conducting tests on the remains of victims, as well as consulting morgues, and numerous accounts of that time period, scientists have finally come up with a theory and solution for influenza. By comparing recent flu strains with the 1918 influenza scientists found reasons to believe that the1918 influenza pandemic began as a bird virus. The bird virus would have adapted to humans overtime eventually becoming as deadly to humans as it had been to birds. Finding a way to improve the efficiency, costs, and environmental impact of construction is a key discussion topic. When it comes to structural steel being used today, our society is pushing towards the use of green steel. This term is used to represent the life cycle of steel as well as the production of structural steel. Over ninety percent of structural steel is able to be obtained from recycled materials; only two percent of steel goes into landfills after the use of its lifetime, while the other ninety eight percent is used again for other buildings and needs. One thing to keep in mind is that once the steel is recycled, it does not lose any of its attributes and is not considered to be down cycled. Structural steel is able to maintain all of it characteristics and can be used to build just about anything. Not only do buildings being constructed today have recycled steel from old structures, but they can also contain material from old vehicles and appliances. A very important component of recycling structural steel is mill production. The cradle to cradle nature of steel has caused an increase in efficiency and waste utilization of steel mills. The recycling process has improved so much over the years that we are even able to capture the dust that is produced in the process and in turn use it to our advantage. Mill production has become very efficient and will only improve as our electric grid improves. About two thirds of the entire Jewish population was brutally killed. One third of all Jews persevered and survived the appalling events happening in and out of the concentration camps. One boy, out of that one third that survived and pushed through was Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel, the holocaust survivor, displays stamina in his memoir physically, mentally, and spiritually. This movement focused on the expressions of human spirituality, with a focus on nature. He lived a simple life and worked as an illustrator and writer. The Lamb is a lyrics poem that contains two ten line stanzas. Each pair of lines rhymes with the correlating line and this persists throughout the poem. In addition, the lines, I a child and thou a lamb, we are called by his name (Lines 17 18) further expand on the religious theme of the poem. Through this it is implied that the speaker had been a child all along;which correlates with Blake s works in Songs of Innocence. Ultimately this is a surprisingly simple poem with a relatively deep underlying message. This format syncs up beautifully with the poems messages of a lamb s innocence and therefore a child s innocence. The style is also accentuated with the simple verbiage, the use of repetition, and the device of a child narrator. The larger theme comes into play still dealing with religion when the poem is aligned with its counterpart The Tyger, to question God s intentions behind him creating all of humanity including what is holy and virtuous, and what is vile and ... A doctor at John Hopkins Hospital examined Henrietta and a biopsy of the cancerous tissue was retrieved. Henrietta received treatment for her cancer, but the cancer was too aggressive and she soon passed away at age of thirty one, but her cells continue to live today. Henrietta Lack s cells were unlike any other humans cells ever examined. The cells were able to grow, multiply, and divide outside of the human body in a lab (Skloot 2010). This was a major scientific discovery. Henrietta s cells, more commonly known to the public as HeLa, aided in the creation of several scientific discoveries and are still used today. It is because of HeLa we have the polio vaccine, a better understanding of cancer, and cells in general. The cells have even been sent into space and have been exposed to nuclear testing and to toxins (BigPicture). Although Henrietta Lacks s cells have done a lot good, many ethical issues surround her case such as privacy issues, monetary compensation, exploitation, and cell contamination to name a few. The property consists of 6,426 acres and includes Comins Lake, which is located about six miles south of Ely near the area headquarters. Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) has had a long term interest in the acquisition of this valuable property, dating back to the 1980s. Ely community leaders, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), and numerous other partners worked together to make the purchase happen with NDOW s acquisition of the property in 1999. The property was established as the Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Area in 2000. The area surrounding SVWMA has a rich history of use by Native Americans and early explorers. For over 130 years, mining has played an important role in the economy of Ely. Ore was discovered on Ward Mountain leading to the formation of the Ward Mining ... • 29. Why Advertising Alcohol Is Destroying Public Well-Being Essay Brenna Clarine Mrs. Vanwormer C.P. Reading Writing 6 May 2016 Why Advertising Alcohol Is Destroying Public Well Being When I was nine years old, I remember seeing the most delectable, mouthwatering commercial on television. It was for beer. Growing up in a family that did not drink, I never thought beer could look so appetizing. The beverage was everywhere I looked except for in my own fridge. Not only adults, but kids and teens everywhere are being bombarded with alcohol advertisements. Many of these youths choose to succumb to these ads and end up with destructive drinking habits. Not only is alcohol damaging to youth but also to adults. According to a U.S. study, adults were found to put themselves at severe risk of harm after having more than four drinks in one session (Medew). This number can change depending on the gender, size, athleticism, and other factors of the consumer. Although some may say that alcohol is not too damaging if drunk responsibly, the fact that alcohol is a direct route to damaging organs like the liver, heart, and pancreas and harming the brain is a red flag (NIHSeniorHealth). To whatever extent, alcohol weakens the brain s control over movement, speech, memory, and especially judgement, which often leads to impulsive behavior and other dangerous activities (NIHSeniorHealth). There are plenty of harmful side effects of drinking, so the obvious solution to preserving the nation s well being is to not encourage it. One quote by a Seattle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Death Of The Black Death In Europe The Black Death spread throughout Europe producing one of the deadliest and most widespread pandemics in history. This disease arrived in Europe, in October 1347, as 12 Genoese ships docked in hope to trade silk and spices. As the town s people gathered on the docks to greet these ships after their long journey across the Black Sea, they encountered an unimaginable surprise! Upon the ships most of the sailors were dead. Individuals described these sailors as being covered with mysterious black boils that oozed blood and pus ( Black Death ). These ships intending to trade instead passed a new disease, thus the illness of the Black Death was born. The plague continued to spread quickly across Europe as these trade ships traveled to vast regions including China, India, Persia, Syria and Egypt. The plague is an illness cause by the bacteria strain Yersinia pestis. This particular bacteria strain is known to live within wild rodents especially rats. This disease was transmitted to humans when fleas began to feed upon the blood of infected rats. A toxin produced by Yersinia pestis left the fleas unable to digest the rat blood. This inability to digest the blood left the fleas to vomit infected rat blood into the human bloodstream thus transmitting the plague to humans. The plague is now categorized into three basic types including Bubonic, Septicemic and Pneumonic. The plague has severe symptoms including, fever, chills, headaches, swollen painful lymph nodes, bleeding, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Prostate Cancer Synthesis Abstract: Prostate cancer is the leading mortality cancer amongst males. This cancer is due to the signaling increase of androgen and androgen receptors, which is a gene that associates with the risk of prostate cancer. Over expression of androgen receptors occurs in androgen independent cancer. Prostate tumors advance to androgen independent state where they progress in the absence of circulating testosterone. Typically, treatments for prostate cancer are surgery and radiation. Most effective treatments in the early stage of prostate cancer includes suppression of AR function either by blocking androgen signaling with anti androgen bicalutanmide (Casodex) or flutamide or by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to the potent androgen ... Although PA is most abundant, EA has been shown in other studies to exhibit anticarcinogenic properties such as induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis as well as the inhabitation of tumor formation and growth particularly in animals. Studies show that consumption of phytochemical rich diet reduces the risk of prostate cancer. With that being said, in this study there were several experiments done to show the correlation of how pomegranate in the form of POMx, PJ, PA and EA will help reduce the risk of getting prostate cancer by reducing the signaling of AR. Although studies have yet to find the mechanism of gene down regulation there have been several studies that show that the LNaCP AR cell line is overexpressed which leads to prostate cancer. In this study the cells lines LNCaP and LNcAP AR cell lines are closely examined. The main aim of this study is to show how pomegranate and its polyphenols can reduce the androgen receptors that are overexpressed to decrease the risk of prostate cancer and the tumor size of prostate cancer. Methods: 1. POMx: standardized extract of pomegranate fruit contains monomeric and oligomeric ellagitannins as PA (37 40%) and 3.4% free EA but no anthocyanins as determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) 2. PJ: Whole pomegranate juice in concentrated powder form contains 1 mg/ml punicalagin, 0.97 mg/ml EA and anthocyanins 3. The mining techniques that involved in underground mining are Bord and pillar is the and was very common in Australian like in NSW. This method uses a grid of tunnels that involves a lot of cutting panels into a coal seam. While leaving the pillars of coal behind to support the mine. Longwall mining was introduced and began in the 1960s. Longwall mining uses a mechanical shearer to cut the coal away although the hydraulic powered holds up and supports roof of the underground mine. When the coal is removed from the work site, the supports that are on the roof of the underground mine are moved forward and the roof collapse behind them, which actually can result in subsidence. Longwall mining are much better than the Bord and pillar. This is because that it does not leave the pillars of coal behind. It is because that mineral resource can be removed out more. • 38. Notes On Principles Of Management MGMT10002 (Principles of Management) Critically Analyse a Current (2011 onwards) Article Drawing Upon One Major Management Concept Covered in The Course. Corporate Culture, as defined by Daft and Samson (2015, p. 112), is the common code of conduct, philosophies and suppositions shared between members within an organisation that encompasses the entirety of it. All organisations have a prevalent culture that can be characterised as either stable or flexible, concentrating either on its internal or external workings as described by Cameron and Quinn s (1999, cited in Yazici 2011, p. 21) Competing Values Model (CVM) of culture. This essay will critically evaluate the chosen article s theory that a company s culture and success is determined by the attitudes exhibited by its top leaders, rather than the national culture. It will do so by analysing examples of leaders behaviours, the national culture of a country and the effect of culture on an organisation. The leadership behaviours of corporation leaders can affect its culture by influencing the members of the corporation from top down. Culture is taught to employees by those in experienced managerial positions; so regularly practised that it becomes the norm, and is then emulated by new employees who continue the behavioural patterns (Hellriegel et al. 2004, cited in Mishra Raykundaliya 2011, p. 87; Kruger 2003, cited in Mishra Raykundaliya 2011, p. 87).
