The Importance Of Doors In Little Brown Bats
Bats commonly enter buildings through openings associated with the roof edge and valleys, eaves,
apex of the gable, chimney, attic or roof vent, dormers, and siding. Other openings can be found under
loose fitting doors, around windows, gaps around various conduits (wiring, plumbing, air
conditioning) that pass through walls, and through utility vents. Bats are able to squeeze through
narrow slits and cracks. Such openings must be considered potential entries for at least the smaller
species, such as the little brown bat. The smaller species need an opening no wider than a number 2
pencil. Openings of these dimensions are not uncommon in older wood frame structures where boards
have shrunk, warped, or otherwise become loosened. The discovery

Factors That Affect A Vegetarian Diet That Account For...
This report examines the various factors in a vegetarian diet that account for most of the energy
required by the human body. The purpose of this report is to find out if a vegetarian diet can maintain
normal physiological energy levels. In this day and age, many misconceptions arise regarding
vegetarians. Some believe that vegetarians are lethargic and physically weak because they do not get
enough nutrients from their diet. Having been a vegetarian my entire life, I can say that I haven t had
issues with low energy or any nutrient deficiencies. Some people might say that vegetarians eat
vegetables and nothing else. In actuality, vegetarians cannot be placed into a single group. There are
five main types of vegetarians: lacto vegetarians, lacto ovo vegetarians, pescatarians, pollotarians, and
vegans. Lacto vegetarians eat vegetables and dairy products, whereas lacto ovo vegetarians, such as
myself, eat vegetables, dairy products, and eggs. Pescatarians consume vegetables and fish products,
avoiding all other meats. Pollotarians eat vegetables and chicken as their source of animal product.
Vegans only eat vegetables and avoid all dairy and animal products. Maintaining physiological energy
in all diet groups depends on various factors such as:
A good metabolism
Complex carbohydrate consumption
Adequate protein consumption
Consuming vegetable oil and fats
Getting enough vitamins and minerals
Getting quality sleep and exercising daily
It can be seen that energy

The Cloning Should Not Be Banned By The Human Body
Cloning Dolly, the sheep in 1996 was a momentous moment in scientific history. Scientists removed
the nucleus from one of Dolly s skin cells and engineered an egg to be insert with then nucleus. This
egg could have fertilized in a mothers uterus. Following this discovery, mice, pigs and cattle have
been cloned based on the same concept. In 2012, a group of scientists took cloning a step further and
cloned human embryos. With great certainty, human cloning will be banned by the government due to
human rights. The government has already deemed it illegal to fund human cloning projects. Despite
the human rights issue, cloning serves a great role in research. These cloned embryos will help
understand the biological nature of human cells and the human body. Also the embryos will help
advance medical treatments for a wide variety of diseases. Cloning is vital to genetic engineering.
Problems do arise from such an advancement. Exploration of women would be a major issue due to
the fact that these cloned embryos need to be implanted into a women s uterus in order to under go
gestation. Almost all scientific developments pose positive and negative outcomes.

Misconceptions are held about cloning. Most people globally tend to believe that cloning is pain free,
not mistake prone and is only done in laboratories for research. In reality, the first successfully cloned
animal known as Dolly the sheep, was successful after twenty seven

Service Operation Of A Service Industry
This report is based on an investigation of one service operation of a service industry, particularly in
the telecommunications Vodafone.
The purpose of this report is to investigate one service operation of a service industry that I am
currently a customer. For this report, I have chosen a telecommunication company; Vodafone. Another
reason is that not only I am familiar with the company but also have been with the company for eight
years.
Vodafone New Zealand Limited was established in 1998 when Vodafone group purchased Bell South
New Zealand Limited which is an American telecommunication company. Vodafone s major
competitors are Spark also known as Telecom and 2 Degrees mobile (Vodafone New Zealand, 2014).
This report also analyses the aspects that Vodafone New Zealand will have to take into consideration
in terms of staying as the top telecommunication company in New Zealand. As noted in the executive
summary, there are four main sections in the report which includes the company background,
Description of personal experience, Concepts that will be used as well as Recommendations on how
the company can improve its service offerings. The four concepts that are presented in this report are:
Service quality, Customer value, Employee empowerment and Service recovery.
Background
The Vodafone Group is a British multi national company that was founded in 1984 in London, UK and
was a joint venture of a company called Racal Electronics or also known as Racal Telecom

Hellenistic Culture Essay
Hellenistic Culture The time between the death of Alexander the Great and the rise of Roman
civilization is defined as the Hellenistic period. After the great expansion of Greece, the empire was
split into smaller kingdoms. Many battles were fought before establishing the kingdoms. However,
they lasted fairly long until they were conquered by the Romans. Hellenistic culture emphasized the
importance of the individual. This brought on the growth of art, literature, and philosophers. Along
with this, libraries were also formed. Greece began to have a more centralized power. Rather than
having segregated, democratic city states or Alexander s empire, they developed different types of
kingdoms. Agriculture also experienced major improvements,

The Three Concepts Of Donald Davidson s Anomalous Monism
Donald Davidson s Mental Events, challenges how we discuss mind body interactions. The thesis
presented by Davidson, is that of Anomalous Monism, which attempts to answer the causality of
mental and physical events. Differing from forms of the more common Dualism, Davidson accepts
monism as the best way to describe the mind body relationship. Meaning he accepts token identity and
rejects type identity. Davidson s argument consists of three key principles. The first being the
Principle of Causal Interaction which states that at least some mental events interact causally with
physical events. The second is the Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, where there is
causality there must be law (Deterministic law). The third is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Essentially, he is saying that the mental physical relationship is dependent on an identity that is not
connected by psycho physical laws but on the properties of the two terms. Thus, The Principle of
Causal Interaction states that at least some mental events interact causally with physical events.
Therefore, the principle is saying that some mental events do not causally interact with physical ones,
which differentiates Anomalous monism from other theories on psycho physical causation.
The Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, is Davidson s second principle for
Anomalous monism. As we review the next two principles we will run into many seemingly
contradicting points that can be argued in favor anEd against Davidson s Anomalous monism. The
second principle states that, where there is causality, there must be law: events related as cause and
effect fall under strict deterministic laws. Right away we can recognize the contradiction with the first
principle of causal interaction. According to the first principle of casual interaction there are no
psycho physical laws in which we can define mental and physical term, but in the second principle it
relies on strict deterministic laws. The principles appear to begin to contradict each other but Davidson
depend on his specific explanations to make sense of his seemingly opposing

Questions On The Robotic Fundamentals Module
This document explains my approach to solve the coursework questions for the Robotic Fundamentals
module. The coursework is divided into three different parts. The first part of the coursework asks to
derive the forward and inverse kinematics of a serial manipulator (Lynxmotion arm AL5B) and plot its
workspace and trajectories. The second part asks to develop a kinematic simulation of the parallel
robot. The third part is an open ended relevant topic. Matlab software is used here to create model for
simulation. 2. Serial Robot Kinematics (Part 1) The 5 degree of freedom Lynxmotion arm AL5B
consists of a base, a shoulder, a elbow, a wrist, a wrist rotation and a gripper. To analysis its
kinematics, we need to first know the relationship between each link of the robot arms. Figure 2.0
AL5B Lynxmotion Robotic Arm 3.1 Joint and Link Structure Figure 2.1 Joint and Link Labeling First
and foremost, we need to set up a model for analysis purposes. The names of joint and link are labeled
accordingly. All joints here are revolute and the end effector is assigned as i6. (Figure 2.1) 3.2
Reference Frame for General Convention Figure 2.2 Reference Frame for General Convention For
general convention, frames with same orientation are applied to all joints. (Figure 2.2) Each joint has a

Difference Between Sejong The Great And Kamehameha
Kamehameha and Sejong the Great King Kamehameha was the first ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. His
reign was from July, 1782 to May 8 or 14, 1819 (Chosonkorea.org). Sejong Daewang was the king of
the Joseon dynasty Korea (now known either as North and South Korea) and his reign was from 1418
to 1450 (Chosonkorea.org). The two leaders ruled their land in many similar and different ways. Their
behavior while ruling was also similar, yet different in many ways as well. Sejong s pathway to
becoming a ruler was much simpler than Kamehameha s. Sejong was not supposed to be the ruler of
the Joseon Dynasty. He easily and simply became king (Thoughtco.com). Kamehameha s route, on the
other hand, was rife with war, blood, and hardships. Kamehameha had to take parts in many wars and
strategizing in order to become the ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. Kamehameha the Great is most
known for unifying all the Hawaiian Islands together and Sejong the Great is most known for creating
the Korean language (Hangul). Both rulers are still known as leaders who impacted their land and
their people. Kamehameha the Great and Sejong the Great were two very effective leaders.
Similarly, both Kamehameha and Sejong were both very studious. Kamehameha was trained to be a
very skilled warrior and ruler. He and his society was advanced in trading, growing crops, and more
(Potter, Kasdon, and Rayson 23). Sejong was always reading and created many inventions during his
reign (Newworldencyclopedia.org). Both

Frida Kahlo Culture Essay

Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico 1907. She was a Mexican artist who painted from the 1920s until she
died in 1954, she liked to paint herself the best, so she is most well known for that. Frida got into a car
accident when she was young that left her injured. Her art reflects her pain, she was unable to walk
properly and in pain throughout the rest of her life. She was super influenced by surrealism, she didn t
like to have her art categorized though, she said that she paints her reality and not dreams or
nightmares. She painted sixty six self portraits that all portray her pain, cultural identity, heritage, and
intense emotion.

The name Ford is written across these factory chimneys. The American side looks unhealthy and

the United States.
The left half of the painting is covered in nature and other beautiful things, this side is of course her
interpretation of Mexico. The sky has two clouds, one with a sun that in my opinion looks
unnecessarily sad, and a moon, with a similar distraught. There are a lot of plants on the ground by
Frida s feet. Cacti, flowers, some not even bloomed yet, but all are extremely beautiful. On the dark
brown, healthy ground there is two mini fertility statues, surrounded by rubble and a stone skeleton s
head. The horizon has a big Mexican pyramid that is getting struck by lightning. I think it represents
that all the beauty of Mexico is in despair, but even though everything is hurting, there is still so much
beauty to look forward too, and that is still there to

Poverty in the United Kingdom
Poverty is often associated with Third World countries, where the outcome of such poverty is often
death from disease or starvation. However this is the extremes of poverty, and is rarely experienced
within the UK. Despite this poverty still takes place within the UK just at a lesser extent, however this
does not take away from the devastating effects that poverty can have. This poverty can be attributed
to having less money and lower living standards than others of the same society (European Anti
Poverty Network, 2009). Child poverty is a direct result of adult poverty (Poverties.org, 2011 2012)
however unlike and adult, the experience of poverty for a child can effect later life drastically. In April
2011, there were 13 million people in the UK living below the poverty line, this included 3.6 million
children (Department for Work and Pensions, 2011), and these numbers are expected to rise further
(Child Poverty action Group, 2000 2012). This type of poverty does not discriminate, it is a direct
result of inadequate resources.
Unfortunately children themselves are a major contributing factor to their own poverty, as when a
child is born a family s income must spread further, at a time when income is short. Throughout this
time parents are faced with the difficult decision of returning to work in order to improve income.
However some families shall be supported by the welfare system however the current system of
increasing benefits by inflation is causing a relative drop in

Nokia Swot Analysis Essay
Nokia is known as one of the world s largest vendors of mobile phones. It is a great communications
as well as multinational technology corporation that provides services and equipment regarding
telecommunication. It goes without saying that its mobile phones are durable as well as reliable
making it rule the mobile market for a long time. However, Android as a competitor had advanced to a
level that Nokia features were becoming irrelevant in the global Smartphone market (Becker,
Mladenow, Kryvinska, Strauss, 2012). Technology is a drive in the Smartphone industry, each day a
discovery is made, and new features that are user friendly are introduced. Nokia and Microsoft could
not deny this fact and hence they had to join forces so as to compete fairly with other giants in the
Smartphone industry. Moreover, Nokia started losing customers thus they had to strategize on new
measures that will enable them to compete fairly on the Smartphone market. Due to this alliance, it is
advisable to do an analytical SWOT analysis to come up with a proper view of the brand s strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, as well as threats (Deresky, 2013, p. 187). Strengths To start with, Nokia
has a distinguished brand name. It is obvious that many customers often opt for Nokia as compared to
other brands because of the reputation. The company s products are known to be durable as well as
reliable. Nokia has very highly qualified staff. They have teamed up with experts from Microsoft as

A Long Way Gone Memoirs Of A Boy Soldier By Ishmael Beah
Reflection Paper: Long Way Gone After reading the memoir A Long Way Gone:Memoirs of a Boy
Soldier by Ishmael Beah, I now have a much deeper understanding of the atrocities of war and the
effect it has upon young people. As an ordinary young boy in Sierra Leone in the 1990 s, Beah grew
up with a love for soccer and rap music. In early 1991 the Sierra Leonean civil war began and Ishmael
s life would never be the same again. The rebels, or RUF (Revolutionary United Front), would raid
villages and kill civilians, rob homes and set them on fire. In an attack on his village, Ishmael lost his
entire family. Beah, a terrified twelve year old boy, was now forced to fight for himself. While running
away from the rebel s massacres, he was recruited by the government militia as a child soldier. The
government forced these innocent child soldiers to fight against the rebels. In order to take their minds
off of the killing, the soldiers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This horrific story really opened my eyes because I had no absolutely idea what war was like and
could not imagine what it was like for a child to endure. On a historic level, I learned about the civil
war in Sierra Leone in the 1990 s. The war was fought between the rebels and the government and
lasted for over a decade. Numerous attacks on civilians caused many to die, especially parents and
families. During this time, orphaned child soldiers were commonly used to fight in the war. Ishmael s
personal history describes these attacks. He describes family members being separated and killed,
bodies of the dead, lost children, and a constant state of fear. The sound of guns was so terrifying that
it confused everyone. No one was able to think clearly... Everyone just ran for his or her life. Mothers
lost their children, whose confused, sad cries

Thorns Starfish Problem
The terrestrial runoff spawned at around the time of major storms that wash large amounts of nutrients
promotes plankton to blooms, which increase the food for many animals including Crown of Thorns
Starfish larvae. The Great Barrier Reef receives runoff from 35 major catchments, which drain
424,000 square kilometres of coastal Queensland (Reefplan.qld.gov.au, 2012). Attacking the Crown of
Thorns Starfish problem is through an integrated pest management approach that may be achieved by
improving water quality as the long term benefits to the health of the Great Barrier Reef. The removal
of predators such as excessive fishing and shell collecting, allowing populations of the Crown of
Thorns Starfish to increase beyond natural levels. Predators such as the giant triton snail, sweetlips

These methods minimise the risk of breaking corals and are safer than manual removal that prevents
the risk of spiking and breaking. Since 2011, more than 80 reefs have been monitored and over 300

had to remove the starfish from its location and inject it over 20 times to get the same effect. It is
estimated the new method has led to a two and a half fold increase in injection efficiency. The results
have been outstanding; such as 27 000 starfish removed in just eight days at Arlington Reef and 9000

Reflection Of Blindness
An individual is not merely defined by the situations that they find themselves in, but rather how they
react during these tragic moments. The eminent novel, Blindness, by Jose Saramago, is an iconic story
that illustrates a country enduring a pandemic that causes the inhabitants to acquire a type of blindness
where they only see white. The unfortunate citizens who fall ill to the white blindness find themselve
quarantined in an abandoned mental hospital where havoc inevitably ensues. A significant character
that demonstrates the notion that you are defined by your actions is the doctor s wife as she was
originally a very timid and kind character who then endured an atrocious situation and became very
malicious. Whereas the girl with the dark glasses is an individual who was first presented as extremely
selfish but later developed into an extremely selfless individual. To continue, the young boy was a
character who valued his family for the entire novel and found it very difficult to live without them,
yet due to his circumstances, he was able to adapt. The responses that the characters within Blindness
by Jose Saramago have when presented in the face of adversity is what truly defines those particular
characters. It is often through atrocious situations where individuals face a shift in their values and
inevitably discover a new aspect of themselves whether it be malice, selflessness or carelessness. The
deepest and darkest aspects of oneself often only shine through when an individual undergoes a
horrendous situation. During the commencement of the novel Blindness, the doctor s wife was
originally one of the kindest and caring characters that Saramago mentions. This notion is evident
when her husband the doctor was being taken away to be quarantined. During this chapter, the doctor
was being seized by military officials as he was struck with the white blindness and needed to be
quarantined. Although the doctor s wife was not blind she told the military officials that she was also
ill in order to stay by her husband s side. When the couple arrived at the mental hospital, the doctor
asked his wife why she risked falling ill to the atrocious disease by going to the hospital. She calmly
replied, my love... I m

The Code Of Ethics For Educators
1. If you were Janet, how would you handle the situation?
According to Association of American Educators (1994 2015), The professional educator maintains
sound mental health, physical stamina, and social prudence necessary to perform the duties of any
professional assignment.
Prudence means discreet (careful and circumspect in one s speech or actions, especially in order to
avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage), which in regards to this teacher s situation, means that
if the code of ethics for educators states that if he is careful and abides by all the laws and ethics, it
could be okay. If his school has policies to follow that discourage dating a student s parent, then he
would have to stop until he is not that student s teacher or try to have that student put into another
classroom.
I think that Janet is faced with an ethical dilemma because she has to make sure it won t turn into an
unethical issue for everyone to include the student, teacher, and parent and school administration.
Janet may have to come up with alternative solutions or tell the teacher not to date until he is no
longer that student s teacher.
2. Which ethical theory or theories support your approach? Why?
Duty ethics could be one ethical theory in this situation because if you are doing the right thing in
theory, without have regard for the consequences of the actions, you have to have the proper intention
when performing that action.

AAA Brewing Company will promote sales by encouraging a sense of community in the surrounding
area. While expansion in terms of distribution territory or physical space (to meet demand) is not
considered, future expansion of fermentation and conditioning will take place modestly in pace with

mixed culture fermentations utilizing easily acquired wine/spirits barrels. A strategy of consumer
education, local visibility and aggressive collaboration with neighboring breweries will not only create
a destination for nearby beer enthusiasts, but define Greensboro as a craft beer destination.
AAA Brewing Company will remove all obstacles between the brewer and the customer. Once the

APA Format: What Does It Mean?
Almost every KGSM written assignment specifies that the paper conform to APA style. But no one
really knows what this means. At the very least, the requirement could be that references be cited as
described in the APA manual. But APA style involves a lot more. In this document, I will explain
and/or provide examples of what I, personally, consider to be important in my classes. Some
professors may require more or less. My best advice for what to do in other classes is to ask the
professor.

I am told Word also has a utility for managing references. I have never used it. You could also keep
track of everything manually.
Citations
Some students may be familiar with the use of footnotes to provide information about sources of
information. With APA format, footnotes are not used for this purpose. Instead, we use in text citations
and a references page near the end of the paper. The rules of the formatting of citations and references
are somewhat arcane. Typically, professors will be okay with your formatting being pretty close. I am.
Some professors might be sticklers about this. You might want to ask before beginning your writing
assignment. Software such as Reference Point or EndNote will take care of the formatting for you if
you use such software. Otherwise you will want to pay close attention to examples provided in the
manual or other trusted sources.
Here are some example citations and references. In some cases, I have simplified, maybe over
simplified some of the rules. I will be happy if you use the basics. You might want to ask your
professor if you need to be more of a stickler. Here are citations for a book (Giorgi, 2009), a journal

The Education Of Special Needs
The Education of Special Needs in
Public, Private, and Charter Schools
Jerissa R. Gregory
Liberty University
Abstract Education is important to all children, but teaching children with special needs entails the
educator to examine and assess the social, behavior, intellectual and academic deficits of the student
and devise an instructional plan that will support their excellence in these areas. Teaching in a
classroom with children who have disabilities pertains to various teaching methods that insist the
teacher individualize lessons to achieve academic excellence in students. We will examine to special
education requirements in public, private and charter schools. Many inclusion classrooms have the
necessary support which include services and accommodations to establish a learning environment
conducive to the students learning abilities. Although the education system has become far more
advanced than it was and children with disabilities have more access to supports and services,
problems still remain like they still lag behind their non disabled peers in educational achievements,
are often held to lower expectations, are less likely to take the full academic curriculum in high school
and more likely to drop out (Aron, Loprest p. 97). Early detection can help prevent secondary
disabilities and detect early disabilities and allow for the proper intervention strategies to be in place.

Analyzing Biopsychological Disorders
Part A
Biopsychology is a biological approach to psychology. Historically, researchers believed that
neuropsychological disorders were of the brain, and psychological disorders were of the mind. Now,
psychologists understand that these distinctions do not exist. Biological approaches to psychological
disorders direct psychologists to consider the active cause and effective treatments of major
psychological disorders. These major psychological disorders include schizophrenia, affective
disorders, anxiety disorders, and Tourette syndrome (Pinel, 2009.)

A link between anxiety disorders and an imbalance in certain neurotransmitters may be present. The
neurotransmitters that regulate anxiety such as noradrenaline, serotonin and Gamma aminobutyric
acid (GABA) may contribute to anxiety disorders. The areas of the brain that are affected by anxiety
disorder are the forebrain, limbic system, locus coeruleus, dorsal, hippocampus, and the amygdala.
The forebrain is the most affected area of the brain in subjects with anxiety disorder. The limbic
system is thought to affect the central role of processing anxiety related information. Also, people with
obsessive compulsive disorder often show increased brain activity within the basal nuclei (Lundbeck
Institute, 2008.) The discovery that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors can effectively treat anxiety
disorders has led to the Serotonin Theory. The Serotonin theory indicates that serotonin mediated
neurotransmitters in the brain may be involved in anxiety disorders. The fact that some antidepressant
agents relieve symptoms of both anxiety and depression disorders indicate that there may be a
correlation between the two disorders. Information also indicates a correlation between genetic
susceptibility in depression and anxiety disorders (Lundbeck Institute, 2008.) The side effects of
antidepressants include nausea, insomnia, anxiety, decreased sex drive, sweating, tremors, diarrhea,

Taking a Look at Chinese Culture
Those traditions have passed on to my family and society. According to Jandt (2003), Confucian
philosophy, which believes in harmony in society through respect to age and social hierarchy, affects
Chinese strongly. Confucianism has various effects on Chinese communication. As a Chinese, we
value Filial Piety and belong to collectivism. I may not say what I really want to mean when I think it
would hurt others. Foreigners such as Americans may feel surprised that HongKongers pay attention
to family so much. If Americans are asked to take a gap year in which be travelling around and their
parents disagree, most of them won t cancel the trip. For me, I would give up the trip honestly and this
may be a main difference between our values towards family. I like the culture I grew up in and the
tradition my family has. Respecting elders is what should be appreciated. I would like my generation
to keep the culture too; however, we can learn the advantages of other cultures. Individualism allows
us to fulfill obligations to self and to be independent. HongKongers can take balance between two
cultures and get improvement for our own.
Chinese is in high context culture and foreigners usually feel confused when I communicate with
them. In communication of Chinese, many things are left unsaid. We let the culture explain so that few
words can communicate a complex message. Although it is effective to in group, there are difficulties
in the communication with foreigners. During the

I m gonna go to the spa on the first floor, Beth yelled back as she walked down the narrow hall, I ll be
back in a few hours, maybe around 3 or 4 pm!
OK! Be safe! Screeched her Mom, who was lazily lying in the suite.
At the time Beth just playfully rolled her eyes; she was 17 years old and can take care of herself what
could happen? She s contained to the cruise ship anyway.
Beth giggled to herself as she read the texts from her friends completely unaware of where she was

Beth s arms were so sore from pulling back the water as she looked down and the water seemed only
ankle deep under her now and the land was just about reachable. She got up and stepped into the clear
water. And walking up onto the sand, she the island was pretty small and deserted. She pulled her raft
up out of the water in case she needed to use it again. Well, looks like I ll be here for a while and need
to set up a place, Beth pondered as she started reaching out and grabbing small pieces of driftwood to
make a fire out of. When she was done, she carefully settled the sticks and twigs in an organized pile.
She went and searched around the coastline to find the place where most of the trash and litter builds
up, everything dropped in the ocean needs to land up somewhere, Beth assumed. She found a small
mound of plastics, cans, odd things like flip flops, and even a tarp jammed in the corner of a cliff.
She salvaged a plastic bottle and used it to hold any fresh water she might come upon and took the
tarp in case it might come in handy. She lit her fire using a method of reflecting the sun, using a shiny
soda can, into a little pile of dead grass. She tied down some logs on two sturdy branches in a pretty
tall tree for a place she can sleep that is off the ground. That night she quickly fell asleep using the tarp
as a blanket.

The Little Mermaid Feminist Criticism
Hans Christian Andersen s story, The Little Mermaid talks about a girl who saves a young man from
drowning and falls in love with him, and she later learns that the young man she saved was a prince.
In this world women believe that they are not capable of doing nothing or being nothing without a
man in their lives. Disney s film, The Little Mermaid , by Ron Clements and John Musker, present a
version that makes an appearance for children, so it is harder to catch on where a woman needs a man
in her life whether it is her father or a husband. In the Disney film the director makes the mermaid
(Ariel) look so vulnerable and weak for a young woman. Women now these days say that they were
made to believe that they have to depend on a man because they will not make it without them. In the
story the author made it seem like all women cannot do want they want or that they are limited to do
and say certain things because they are women. Women grow up to believe and to think that they need
a man because that is how many men and society made women and young girls look like. So, part of
this faulting it the men because they beliefs are that women cannot do what they do or that women and
young girls belong at home to behave right and look pretty for the men. Andersen is a good example
of Feminist and Gender criticism because women should believe that they can make it without having
to rely on a man. Women should start believing that they are as equal as a man whether it s at a job,
relationship, at home, and in society because we are not meant to be looked at as a fragile and weak
woman, we are supposed to show everyone that women should be equal to men on all types of levels.
Andersen examines representation of gender, dependence, and cultural stability to explore notions of
equality in gender. Andersen examines representation of gender because both men and women need to
be looked upon as equals with one another. For example, there are many times when a women needs
help and most men think that she is a damsel in distress , because a woman that needs saving looks
fragile and needs a man to save her. This also shows that usually the women are the ones being saved,
so that the men can be the ones doing

The Friar and the Pardoner The Canterbury Tales, retold by Geraldine McCaughrean, is composed of
many stories told by different characters on the road to Canterbury. On their pilgrimage, each of the
characters tells a different story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of
the tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the Friar and the
Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be interpreted in a similar way, their
tellers are significantly different. Although the Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they
both have a similarly structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very
similar plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder someone
named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a pot of gold, which happens
to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in the pot and become rich. While one of the three
leaves to buy wine to celebrate their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill
the other so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons the
wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other one, but then drink
the poisoned wine to celebrate. They all die, and Death takes back his gold. In the Friar s Tale, a

What Is Treasure Island A Coming Of Age Story
In our society the coming of age story has become part of the main stream. It is seen in famous movies
such as the Wizard Of Oz, Star Wars, and the Harry Potter series. Robert Louis Stevenson s coming of
age story, Treasure Island, originally published in 1883, was the base for many of those movies. Jim
Hawkins a young boy who runs an inn along with his mother and father takes an unexpected turn
when a pirate named Billy Bones comes barging in the inn one day. When the pirate suddenly dies
Hawkins finds himself in possession of a valuable map that leads to a treasure beyond his imagination.

In the classic mid century tale this always seemed to be the knight having to slay the dragon. Young
Jim Hawkins had some dragons to slay of his own. Throughout the journey he has to endure the
shenanigans of the pirates. He hears about the mutiny that was going to rise, and the fights back
against them. He uses his wits to avoid being captured, and has to fear for his life. When aboard the
ship he is attacked and is almost murdered by Israel Hands, but he kills him in self defense. He warns,
One more step, Mr. Hands, said I, and I ll blow your brains out! Dead men don t bite, you know, (113).
He does not regret killing him, he knew that Israel Hands was a diseased man. He would have killed
Jim just as he killed one of his shipmates. This endeavor changed him into a more rugged and
hardened person. Not only is he changed from the killing of Hands, but from the journey itself. He
experienced the adventure of sailing, but also witnessed the rotten life of a pirate. Once he returned he
had no interest for any more adventures or treasure. Although the story is told through the eyes of Jim
Hawkins, the story is more about the adventure. The journey is what changes the character, and the
audience gets to witness it. Stevenson wrote with inspiration from playing with his step sons. The
story was meant to fulfill the dreams of people who have wished that they would be able

Drinking At 18 Essay
Drinking at 18
If you look around at college parties it seems as if everyone is drinking. Actually you are probably
right, but over half of those people drinking are also under the legal drinking age. Drinking is one of
the main forms of entertainment for the typical college student. The only problem with drinking being
the main form of entertainment is that half of the students in college or 20 years or younger. This
seems to be a problem all over the country and a debate has started to see whether or not lowering the
drinking age would be a reasonable solution to keep students from over drinking.
Many leaders at different universities such as Bill Jordan, a member of the Board of Trustees at ...

There are many other reasons as to why lowering the legal drinking age is being considered other then
that students between the age of 18 and 20 on college campuses want the privilege to drink. More
serious cases such as that of Mr. Cureton, an 18 year old freshman at the University of North Carolina
whom was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.14. Mr. Cureton was almost double the
legal limit, 0.08 percent, serving as a major hazard to other drivers on the road at the same time
(Wald). If students are afraid of calling home for a ride they may try to drive themselves, resulting in
more damage then they may realize at the time. But if the drinking age was lowered then they student
would not get into legal trouble for calling a parent or another adult for a ride home.
Fraternities seem to be having the most problems with the legal drinking age being at 21 as the Theta
Chi chapter at the University of Georgia demonstrated last year. Henry Delauney, 19, of Lafayette,
La., went into intensive care to be treated for excessive alcohol consumption. Also a pledges from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Louisiana State University died after nights of binge
drinking. Scott Kruegen, 18, of Orchard Park, N.Y., died three days after he was discovered in his
basement room at the phi Gamma Delta house at MIT. Benjamin Smith, 20, of Covington, La.,

beautiful place with a large pier and all kind of restaurants, hotels and children attractions to entertain

unforgettable. Full of people relaxing and having fun. The sun is really appreciated there, people does
not want to miss a bit of it since the winter days are very short. We walked the original pier and sat at
a restaurant to see the kids play and the adults enjoying a beer or a glass of wine.

GHG Reporting Programme
In simple terms, accounting and reporting of GHG programme begins with identification of
programme objectives. These objectives may range from voluntary action like tracking progress
towards GHG reduction targets; supporting national climate change strategies; supporting GHG
trading programs; facilitating GHG mitigation activities; to provide information to shareholders and
investors.
Once the objectives are decided, the programme decides on which GHG accounting principles to
adopt. Such process implements basic principles like relevance, completeness, consistency,
transparency, and accuracy of data. After the base year has been selected the process follows
internationally accepted GHG accounting methodologies (see available protocols and standards
below), which can be modified to suit the requirement of the country or company.
After the objectives and the methodologies are agreed upon, the programme design will decide on
sectors, sources and gases that the programme covers. Generally, major economic sectors such as
energy, industrial processes, land use change, agriculture, and waste disposal are considered for the

Henry IV, Sir John Falstaff And The King Of France
Effect of Societal Standings on Quality of Life Quality of life is defined as the standard of health,
freedom, comfort and happiness experienced by an individual or group. In the Elizabethan World
Reference Library, historians often describe the wealthy and noble as those who held great power and
frequently lived colourful and extravagant lives; as compared to the poor, who have been described as
uneducated and intensely labored. Through the respective descriptions of their everyday life, it is
evident that the superior quality of life should be held by those who posses the higher social rank.
However, King Henry IV, Sir John Falstaff and the King of France, in fact demonstrate the opposite in
William Shakespeare s Henry IV Part I , Henry IV Part II and Henry V . Quality of life is inversely
proportional to an individual s level of status in society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

God s vessel on Earth. Therefore, his upper class status should provide him with the authority to do as

the more advanced grade of freedom. King Henry IV is presented, to the readers, as a traditional hero
with valuable morals and a strong will. However, his character is not of his own accord, rather it is the
fabrication of the restrictions placed upon him by his role in society. As the king is scolding his son for

A Report On The Communication Phase Essay
During the communication phase, we gathered the following requirements from the clients. The
KPSmart program had to be a program that allowed the clerks to handle daily business in a
straightforward manner. This was to be done by containing business events in a log file that only the
manager could view, and included processing business events and displaying key business figures.
Using these requirements, we modeled our proposed system, and validated it with the clients. With the
requirements validated, we could move onto implementing the system and be guaranteed that our
implementation would meet the requirements as long as we followed our design documents and the
requirements stayed consistent with our original brief. As we had determined at the early stages of the
project, it was unlikely that the requirements would be volatile. Because of this we felt confident that
our design document would assure we followed the requirements during implementation. To certify
this, continuous testing was done throughout implementation, as well as peer reviews of each others
code. This was done through Travis CI integration with GitHub, which assured that our master branch
was always stable, all new features added to the system conformed. To make sure the requirements
were met once the system was implemented, thorough testing was applied at the end of the
implementation phase. At the end of testing, and the subsequent amendments to the program, we were
confident that we had met the

Discuss The Impact Of Divorce On Children
According to Virginia Rutter, there has been an ongoing argument of whether or not divorce is a good
thing (Rutter 159). An argument is made that the decline of the impact of divorce on children is due to
the number of children involved, decreasing from 1.34 children to less than one child (Rutter 159).
However, the statement of the impact of divorce being lessened due to less children being caught in
the middle appears to be intellectually disingenuous. Regardless of their being less children, the
children that are involved from the divorce will still be impacted greatly. Nevertheless, Rutter is
correct in saying that there are some sets of circumstances where divorce is the better option. When
my father divorced my mother, they decided that

There are many characters who are very important to the storyline in I, Claudius such as Livia,
Claudius, Augustus, Tiberius and Caligula. Not only does Graves depict the main character, Claudius,
clearly, but also deeply depict the characteristics of all the characters in the story. The author create all
of them as round characters. Round characters have multiple personality and traits and are thus more
like real people and are often not recognizable as stereotypes according to the definition in the Writing
Essays About Literature (Griffith 61). Livia is a good example of a round character. Livia is described
as cruel, ambitious and competent. Livia murders many people in order to maintain her power in
controlling Rome, Claudius, do you think that Livia killed [your father]? I m sure of it (Graves 155).
Livia is also different with other women at that time and she is very ambitious. She has multiple
personalities and she does not act according to the stereotype. The personalities of Augustus is also
fully developed. He is described as both a ambitious and capable emperors but at the same time
controlled by Livia. All the personalities of most of the characters are described very clearly. After
reading the book, the readers may feel like they really know these characters in person since we know
their personalities well. However, other novels usually tend to describe only the main character clearly
and deeply but not any other characters. In The Natural by Bernard Malamud, most of the characters
are just round characters. Accoeding to Writing Essays about Literature, round characters have only

Design Strategy For A Skywalk At The Royal Oak Campus
ABSTRACT The design strategy for a skywalk at the Royal Oak Campus entails the use of ramps and
steps rising to 5 meters and ramps having a gradient of 1:10.The skywalk will link the faculty parking
and the college with a 3metres wide ramp,5 meters wide steps and a slab width of 6500 meters
500metres above the ground level with a building line on each side of 6 meters. Pedestrians and
cyclists will use the proposed Skywalk it will be situated to allow pedestrians to cross Washington
Avenue because there are no nearby roads to necessitate a road for access. This will let pedestrians
cross safely without slowing down the traffic. Upon the approval of the design proposal, our architect
designed a skywalk for Washington Avenue. The designer worked on this project over the course of
seven weeks. The architect interviewed ten people on the preferred features of the proposed skywalk.
A survey was also undertaken on the zoning information for the city of Washington in order to
determine the maximum garage size possible. The plan designer compiled the clients information as
well as the zoning information to determine the actual size of the parking lot, designed the floor plan
and completed the report. The recommended design for the skywalk, which is a modification of the

  • 2. The Importance Of Doors In Little Brown Bats Bats commonly enter buildings through openings associated with the roof edge and valleys, eaves, apex of the gable, chimney, attic or roof vent, dormers, and siding. Other openings can be found under loose fitting doors, around windows, gaps around various conduits (wiring, plumbing, air conditioning) that pass through walls, and through utility vents. Bats are able to squeeze through narrow slits and cracks. Such openings must be considered potential entries for at least the smaller species, such as the little brown bat. The smaller species need an opening no wider than a number 2 pencil. Openings of these dimensions are not uncommon in older wood frame structures where boards have shrunk, warped, or otherwise become loosened. The discovery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Factors That Affect A Vegetarian Diet That Account For... This report examines the various factors in a vegetarian diet that account for most of the energy required by the human body. The purpose of this report is to find out if a vegetarian diet can maintain normal physiological energy levels. In this day and age, many misconceptions arise regarding vegetarians. Some believe that vegetarians are lethargic and physically weak because they do not get enough nutrients from their diet. Having been a vegetarian my entire life, I can say that I haven t had issues with low energy or any nutrient deficiencies. Some people might say that vegetarians eat vegetables and nothing else. In actuality, vegetarians cannot be placed into a single group. There are five main types of vegetarians: lacto vegetarians, lacto ovo vegetarians, pescatarians, pollotarians, and vegans. Lacto vegetarians eat vegetables and dairy products, whereas lacto ovo vegetarians, such as myself, eat vegetables, dairy products, and eggs. Pescatarians consume vegetables and fish products, avoiding all other meats. Pollotarians eat vegetables and chicken as their source of animal product. Vegans only eat vegetables and avoid all dairy and animal products. Maintaining physiological energy in all diet groups depends on various factors such as: A good metabolism Complex carbohydrate consumption Adequate protein consumption Consuming vegetable oil and fats Getting enough vitamins and minerals Getting quality sleep and exercising daily It can be seen that energy ... • 4. The Cloning Should Not Be Banned By The Human Body Cloning Dolly, the sheep in 1996 was a momentous moment in scientific history. Scientists removed the nucleus from one of Dolly s skin cells and engineered an egg to be insert with then nucleus. This egg could have fertilized in a mothers uterus. Following this discovery, mice, pigs and cattle have been cloned based on the same concept. In 2012, a group of scientists took cloning a step further and cloned human embryos. With great certainty, human cloning will be banned by the government due to human rights. The government has already deemed it illegal to fund human cloning projects. Despite the human rights issue, cloning serves a great role in research. These cloned embryos will help understand the biological nature of human cells and the human body. Also the embryos will help advance medical treatments for a wide variety of diseases. Cloning is vital to genetic engineering. Problems do arise from such an advancement. Exploration of women would be a major issue due to the fact that these cloned embryos need to be implanted into a women s uterus in order to under go gestation. Almost all scientific developments pose positive and negative outcomes. http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/cloning/ Misconceptions are held about cloning. Most people globally tend to believe that cloning is pain free, not mistake prone and is only done in laboratories for research. • 6. Hellenistic Culture Essay Hellenistic Culture The time between the death of Alexander the Great and the rise of Roman civilization is defined as the Hellenistic period. After the great expansion of Greece, the empire was split into smaller kingdoms. Many battles were fought before establishing the kingdoms. However, they lasted fairly long until they were conquered by the Romans. Hellenistic culture emphasized the importance of the individual. This brought on the growth of art, literature, and philosophers. Along with this, libraries were also formed. Greece began to have a more centralized power. Rather than having segregated, democratic city states or Alexander s empire, they developed different types of kingdoms. Agriculture also experienced major improvements, ... • 7. The Three Concepts Of Donald Davidson s Anomalous Monism Donald Davidson s Mental Events, challenges how we discuss mind body interactions. The thesis presented by Davidson, is that of Anomalous Monism, which attempts to answer the causality of mental and physical events. Differing from forms of the more common Dualism, Davidson accepts monism as the best way to describe the mind body relationship. Meaning he accepts token identity and rejects type identity. Davidson s argument consists of three key principles. The first being the Principle of Causal Interaction which states that at least some mental events interact causally with physical events. The second is the Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, where there is causality there must be law (Deterministic law). The third is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, he is saying that the mental physical relationship is dependent on an identity that is not connected by psycho physical laws but on the properties of the two terms. Thus, The Principle of Causal Interaction states that at least some mental events interact causally with physical events. Therefore, the principle is saying that some mental events do not causally interact with physical ones, which differentiates Anomalous monism from other theories on psycho physical causation. The Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, is Davidson s second principle for Anomalous monism. As we review the next two principles we will run into many seemingly contradicting points that can be argued in favor anEd against Davidson s Anomalous monism. The second principle states that, where there is causality, there must be law: events related as cause and effect fall under strict deterministic laws. Right away we can recognize the contradiction with the first principle of causal interaction. According to the first principle of casual interaction there are no psycho physical laws in which we can define mental and physical term, but in the second principle it relies on strict deterministic laws. The principles appear to begin to contradict each other but Davidson depend on his specific explanations to make sense of his seemingly opposing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Questions On The Robotic Fundamentals Module This document explains my approach to solve the coursework questions for the Robotic Fundamentals module. The coursework is divided into three different parts. The first part of the coursework asks to derive the forward and inverse kinematics of a serial manipulator (Lynxmotion arm AL5B) and plot its workspace and trajectories. The second part asks to develop a kinematic simulation of the parallel robot. The third part is an open ended relevant topic. Matlab software is used here to create model for simulation. 2. Serial Robot Kinematics (Part 1) The 5 degree of freedom Lynxmotion arm AL5B consists of a base, a shoulder, a elbow, a wrist, a wrist rotation and a gripper. To analysis its kinematics, we need to first know the relationship between each link of the robot arms. Figure 2.0 AL5B Lynxmotion Robotic Arm 3.1 Joint and Link Structure Figure 2.1 Joint and Link Labeling First and foremost, we need to set up a model for analysis purposes. The names of joint and link are labeled accordingly. All joints here are revolute and the end effector is assigned as i6. (Figure 2.1) 3.2 Reference Frame for General Convention Figure 2.2 Reference Frame for General Convention For general convention, frames with same orientation are applied to all joints. (Figure 2.2) Each joint has a joint variable, either revolute or prismatic. The individual transformation matrix can be derived to describe the variable change from joint (i 1) to i. The ... • 9. Difference Between Sejong The Great And Kamehameha Kamehameha and Sejong the Great King Kamehameha was the first ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. His reign was from July, 1782 to May 8 or 14, 1819 (Chosonkorea.org). Sejong Daewang was the king of the Joseon dynasty Korea (now known either as North and South Korea) and his reign was from 1418 to 1450 (Chosonkorea.org). The two leaders ruled their land in many similar and different ways. Their behavior while ruling was also similar, yet different in many ways as well. Sejong s pathway to becoming a ruler was much simpler than Kamehameha s. Sejong was not supposed to be the ruler of the Joseon Dynasty. He easily and simply became king (Thoughtco.com). Kamehameha s route, on the other hand, was rife with war, blood, and hardships. Kamehameha had to take parts in many wars and strategizing in order to become the ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. Kamehameha the Great is most known for unifying all the Hawaiian Islands together and Sejong the Great is most known for creating the Korean language (Hangul). Both rulers are still known as leaders who impacted their land and their people. Kamehameha the Great and Sejong the Great were two very effective leaders. Similarly, both Kamehameha and Sejong were both very studious. Kamehameha was trained to be a very skilled warrior and ruler. • 10. Frida Kahlo Culture Essay Robyn Muilenburg Frida Kahlo Culture Essay 09.26.2014 Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico 1907. She was a Mexican artist who painted from the 1920s until she died in 1954, she liked to paint herself the best, so she is most well known for that. Frida got into a car accident when she was young that left her injured. Her art reflects her pain, she was unable to walk properly and in pain throughout the rest of her life. She was super influenced by surrealism, she didn t like to have her art categorized though, she said that she paints her reality and not dreams or nightmares. She painted sixty six self portraits that all portray her pain, cultural identity, heritage, and intense emotion. In Frida Kahlo s Self portrait Between the Borderline ... The name Ford is written across these factory chimneys. The American side looks unhealthy and polluted, a place you wouldn t want to necessarily go to. It s pretty obvious she preferred Mexico over the United States. The left half of the painting is covered in nature and other beautiful things, this side is of course her interpretation of Mexico. The sky has two clouds, one with a sun that in my opinion looks unnecessarily sad, and a moon, with a similar distraught. There are a lot of plants on the ground by Frida s feet. Cacti, flowers, some not even bloomed yet, but all are extremely beautiful. On the dark brown, healthy ground there is two mini fertility statues, surrounded by rubble and a stone skeleton s head. • 11. Poverty in the United Kingdom Poverty is often associated with Third World countries, where the outcome of such poverty is often death from disease or starvation. However this is the extremes of poverty, and is rarely experienced within the UK. Despite this poverty still takes place within the UK just at a lesser extent, however this does not take away from the devastating effects that poverty can have. This poverty can be attributed to having less money and lower living standards than others of the same society (European Anti Poverty Network, 2009). Child poverty is a direct result of adult poverty (Poverties.org, 2011 2012) however unlike and adult, the experience of poverty for a child can effect later life drastically. In April 2011, there were 13 million people in the UK living below the poverty line, this included 3.6 million children (Department for Work and Pensions, 2011), and these numbers are expected to rise further (Child Poverty action Group, 2000 2012). This type of poverty does not discriminate, it is a direct result of inadequate resources. Unfortunately children themselves are a major contributing factor to their own poverty, as when a child is born a family s income must spread further, at a time when income is short. Throughout this time parents are faced with the difficult decision of returning to work in order to improve income. A Long Way Gone Memoirs Of A Boy Soldier By Ishmael Beah Reflection Paper: Long Way Gone After reading the memoir A Long Way Gone:Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah, I now have a much deeper understanding of the atrocities of war and the effect it has upon young people. As an ordinary young boy in Sierra Leone in the 1990 s, Beah grew up with a love for soccer and rap music. In early 1991 the Sierra Leonean civil war began and Ishmael s life would never be the same again. The rebels, or RUF (Revolutionary United Front), would raid villages and kill civilians, rob homes and set them on fire. In an attack on his village, Ishmael lost his entire family. Beah, a terrified twelve year old boy, was now forced to fight for himself. While running away from the rebel s massacres, he was recruited by the government militia as a child soldier. • 15. Reflection Of Blindness An individual is not merely defined by the situations that they find themselves in, but rather how they react during these tragic moments. The eminent novel, Blindness, by Jose Saramago, is an iconic story that illustrates a country enduring a pandemic that causes the inhabitants to acquire a type of blindness where they only see white. The unfortunate citizens who fall ill to the white blindness find themselve quarantined in an abandoned mental hospital where havoc inevitably ensues. A significant character that demonstrates the notion that you are defined by your actions is the doctor s wife as she was originally a very timid and kind character who then endured an atrocious situation and became very malicious. Whereas the girl with the dark glasses is an individual who was first presented as extremely selfish but later developed into an extremely selfless individual. To continue, the young boy was a character who valued his family for the entire novel and found it very difficult to live without them, yet due to his circumstances, he was able to adapt. The responses that the characters within Blindness by Jose Saramago have when presented in the face of adversity is what truly defines those particular characters. It is often through atrocious situations where individuals face a shift in their values and inevitably discover a new aspect of themselves whether it be malice, selflessness or carelessness. The deepest and darkest aspects of oneself often only shine through when an individual undergoes a horrendous situation. During the commencement of the novel Blindness, the doctor s wife was originally one of the kindest and caring characters that Saramago mentions. This notion is evident when her husband the doctor was being taken away to be quarantined. During this chapter, the doctor was being seized by military officials as he was struck with the white blindness and needed to be quarantined. Although the doctor s wife was not blind she told the military officials that she was also ill in order to stay by her husband s side. According to Association of American Educators (1994 2015), The professional educator maintains sound mental health, physical stamina, and social prudence necessary to perform the duties of any professional assignment. Prudence means discreet (careful and circumspect in one s speech or actions, especially in order to avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage), which in regards to this teacher s situation, means that if the code of ethics for educators states that if he is careful and abides by all the laws and ethics, it could be okay. If his school has policies to follow that discourage dating a student s parent, then he would have to stop until he is not that student s teacher or try to have that student put into another classroom. I think that Janet is faced with an ethical dilemma because she has to make sure it won t turn into an unethical issue for everyone to include the student, teacher, and parent and school administration. Janet may have to come up with alternative solutions or tell the teacher not to date until he is no longer that student s teacher. 2. Which ethical theory or theories support your approach? Why? Teaching in a classroom with children who have disabilities pertains to various teaching methods that insist the teacher individualize lessons to achieve academic excellence in students. Many inclusion classrooms have the necessary support which include services and accommodations to establish a learning environment conducive to the students learning abilities. Although the education system has become far more advanced than it was and children with disabilities have more access to supports and services, problems still remain like they still lag behind their non disabled peers in educational achievements, are often held to lower expectations, are less likely to take the full academic curriculum in high school and more likely to drop out (Aron, Loprest p. 97). • 26. The Little Mermaid Feminist Criticism Hans Christian Andersen s story, The Little Mermaid talks about a girl who saves a young man from drowning and falls in love with him, and she later learns that the young man she saved was a prince. In this world women believe that they are not capable of doing nothing or being nothing without a man in their lives. Disney s film, The Little Mermaid , by Ron Clements and John Musker, present a version that makes an appearance for children, so it is harder to catch on where a woman needs a man in her life whether it is her father or a husband. In the Disney film the director makes the mermaid (Ariel) look so vulnerable and weak for a young woman. Women now these days say that they were made to believe that they have to depend on a man because they will not make it without them. In the story the author made it seem like all women cannot do want they want or that they are limited to do and say certain things because they are women. Women grow up to believe and to think that they need a man because that is how many men and society made women and young girls look like. So, part of this faulting it the men because they beliefs are that women cannot do what they do or that women and young girls belong at home to behave right and look pretty for the men. Andersen is a good example of Feminist and Gender criticism because women should believe that they can make it without having to rely on a man. Women should start believing that they are as equal as a man whether it s at a job, relationship, at home, and in society because we are not meant to be looked at as a fragile and weak woman, we are supposed to show everyone that women should be equal to men on all types of levels. Andersen examines representation of gender, dependence, and cultural stability to explore notions of equality in gender. Andersen examines representation of gender because both men and women need to be looked upon as equals with one another. For example, there are many times when a women needs help and most men think that she is a damsel in distress , because a woman that needs saving looks fragile and needs a man to save her. Self esteem will also is a big topic surrounding girls in that age group I want to teach them about positive body image and the importance of loving yourself. Obtaining my Ph.D. is another meaningful goal I intend to achieve; with myself being the first generation from my family to attend a major university I feel the need to reach my highest potential. Setting big goals, taking small steps and being focused in my pursuit I know I will achieve all I set my mind to. The definition of a relator is someone who is especially talented in enjoying close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal. When I look back and reflect on personal influences in my life, no one has made a greater impact than those of my parents. All I am I owe to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Drinking At 18 Essay Drinking at 18 If you look around at college parties it seems as if everyone is drinking. Actually you are probably right, but over half of those people drinking are also under the legal drinking age. Drinking is one of the main forms of entertainment for the typical college student. The only problem with drinking being the main form of entertainment is that half of the students in college or 20 years or younger. This seems to be a problem all over the country and a debate has started to see whether or not lowering the drinking age would be a reasonable solution to keep students from over drinking. Many leaders at different universities such as Bill Jordan, a member of the Board of Trustees at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many other reasons as to why lowering the legal drinking age is being considered other then that students between the age of 18 and 20 on college campuses want the privilege to drink. More serious cases such as that of Mr. Cureton, an 18 year old freshman at the University of North Carolina whom was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.14. Mr. Cureton was almost double the legal limit, 0.08 percent, serving as a major hazard to other drivers on the road at the same time (Wald). If students are afraid of calling home for a ride they may try to drive themselves, resulting in more damage then they may realize at the time. But if the drinking age was lowered then they student would not get into legal trouble for calling a parent or another adult for a ride home. Fraternities seem to be having the most problems with the legal drinking age being at 21 as the Theta Chi chapter at the University of Georgia demonstrated last year. Henry Delauney, 19, of Lafayette, La., went into intensive care to be treated for excessive alcohol consumption. Also a pledges from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Louisiana State University died after nights of binge drinking. Scott Kruegen, 18, of Orchard Park, N.Y., died three days after he was discovered in his basement room at the phi Gamma Delta house at MIT. Benjamin Smith, 20, of Covington, La., ... Source: WRI and WBCSD, 2007: 21 GHG Reporting Programme In simple terms, accounting and reporting of GHG programme begins with identification of programme objectives. These objectives may range from voluntary action like tracking progress towards GHG reduction targets; supporting national climate change strategies; supporting GHG trading programs; facilitating GHG mitigation activities; to provide information to shareholders and investors. Once the objectives are decided, the programme decides on which GHG accounting principles to adopt. Such process implements basic principles like relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency, and accuracy of data. After the base year has been selected the process follows internationally accepted GHG accounting methodologies (see available protocols and standards below), which can be modified to suit the requirement of the country or company. After the objectives and the methodologies are agreed upon, the programme design will decide on sectors, sources and gases that the programme covers. • 33. Henry IV, Sir John Falstaff And The King Of France Effect of Societal Standings on Quality of Life Quality of life is defined as the standard of health, freedom, comfort and happiness experienced by an individual or group. In the Elizabethan World Reference Library, historians often describe the wealthy and noble as those who held great power and frequently lived colourful and extravagant lives; as compared to the poor, who have been described as uneducated and intensely labored. Through the respective descriptions of their everyday life, it is evident that the superior quality of life should be held by those who posses the higher social rank. However, King Henry IV, Sir John Falstaff and the King of France, in fact demonstrate the opposite in William Shakespeare s Henry IV Part I , Henry IV Part II and Henry V . King Henry IV is presented, to the readers, as a traditional hero with valuable morals and a strong will. • 35. A Report On The Communication Phase Essay During the communication phase, we gathered the following requirements from the clients. The KPSmart program had to be a program that allowed the clerks to handle daily business in a straightforward manner. This was to be done by containing business events in a log file that only the manager could view, and included processing business events and displaying key business figures. Using these requirements, we modeled our proposed system, and validated it with the clients. With the requirements validated, we could move onto implementing the system and be guaranteed that our implementation would meet the requirements as long as we followed our design documents and the requirements stayed consistent with our original brief. As we had determined at the early stages of the project, it was unlikely that the requirements would be volatile. Because of this we felt confident that our design document would assure we followed the requirements during implementation. To certify this, continuous testing was done throughout implementation, as well as peer reviews of each others code. This was done through Travis CI integration with GitHub, which assured that our master branch was always stable, all new features added to the system conformed. To make sure the requirements were met once the system was implemented, thorough testing was applied at the end of the implementation phase. At the end of testing, and the subsequent amendments to the program, we were confident that we had met the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Discuss The Impact Of Divorce On Children According to Virginia Rutter, there has been an ongoing argument of whether or not divorce is a good thing (Rutter 159). An argument is made that the decline of the impact of divorce on children is due to the number of children involved, decreasing from 1.34 children to less than one child (Rutter 159). However, the statement of the impact of divorce being lessened due to less children being caught in the middle appears to be intellectually disingenuous. Regardless of their being less children, the children that are involved from the divorce will still be impacted greatly. Nevertheless, Rutter is correct in saying that there are some sets of circumstances where divorce is the better option. When my father divorced my mother, they decided that ... Livia is a good example of a round character. Livia is described as cruel, ambitious and competent. Livia murders many people in order to maintain her power in controlling Rome, Claudius, do you think that Livia killed [your father]? I m sure of it (Graves 155). Livia is also different with other women at that time and she is very ambitious. She has multiple personalities and she does not act according to the stereotype. All the personalities of most of the characters are described very clearly. After reading the book, the readers may feel like they really know these characters in person since we know their personalities well. In this movie, they ve come to a point where they don t know themselves as anything other than their label, which they had no choice in.
