The Employment Status Of Workers Essay
INTRODUCTION
It is certainly true that the current law defining the employment status of workers is uncertain, as it is
wholly inflexible to deal effectively with cases of non standard forms of employment, atypical
workers, for example: agency workers, part time workers, fixed term workers, as required workers and
homeworkers. Thus, reform is necessary to redress the concerns of lack of legal certainty in relation to
this area of the law.
This essay will argue that the concept of worker defined under section 230 of the Employment Rights
Act ( ERA ) 1996 is board; however, due to the undefined scope of section 230(3) of ERA 1996,
employment tribunals and the courts have adapted a rigid approach in their interpretation; that there is
a high degree of legal uncertainty as established in this area of law; that the law does not adequately
deal with non standard forms of workers ; present proposals for reform by the UK Parliament on the
interpretation and application of law at common; and finally provide a conclusion for the arguments
put forth.
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE LAW Firstly, employment tribunals and the courts have interpreted
the concept of workers too narrowly, by limiting the common law interpretation of workers under
section 230(3) of the ERA 1996 and rights conferred on workers. Under section 230(3) ERA 1996,
worker is defined as an individual who has entered into work: under a contract of employment, or any
other contract express or implied... to do

Neanderthals, Ancestors to Human Beings Essay
The most recent ancestor to the modern human, Homo neanderthalensis existed between 300,000 and
35,000 years ago. Originating in Africa, ancestors of the early Neanderthals migrated northwards
almost 800,000 years ago. These migrants colonized much of the Old World with the majority based
in Europe and small groups scattered throughout the Middle East and Asia. Historically, the
Neanderthals were among the most resiliant creatures to exist on Earth. As a population, they thrived
during the European ice age 40,000 years ago. This ice age enveloped the majority of Northern and
Central Europe and due to their physique were the Neanderthals were able to surive. Physcially, the
Neanderthals were larger and more muscular than today s human ... Show more content on

Their weapons which consisted at most consisted of spears which required confrontational hunting.
The average Neanderthal life spanned thirty years due to the extreme physical strain and harsh living
conditions of life during this period of Earth s history. Traditionally, Neanderthals have been viewed
as large, hulking ape like beings that survived by aggression and power through the harshest
conditions possible on earth. They have been painted as unsophisticated and unable to compete with
humans on an intellectual level. These academics theorized that superior human intellect and
reasoning gave humans the advantage in hunting game and securing the most valuable natural
resource, eventually driving the Homo neanderthalensis to extinction 30,000 years ago. Popular
culture describes Neanderthals as first viewed by science as large, hulking ape like beings. However,
new evidence suggests that one of the first reconstructed Neanderthal skeletons did not consider that
the individual suffered from acute arthritis. Despite unique, this Neanderthal s hunching posture was
associated with the entire species, giving one the impression of a brutish caveman . This new
understanding has reformed research on the Neanderthal and a new understanding of humanity s
earliest ancestor By examining Neanderthal tools and utensils one can gain an understanding of the

Hunger Of Memory Summary
Culture can be defined as manifestations of intellectual achievement which is not a facet of bias. How
one sees the world actually comes from aspects such as emotional experiences and life events. One
change could cause a butterfly effect that will forever change said person s opinions. Culture is an
aspect of art and customs throughout a community that remains in a sector of life whether the person
intends it to be that way or not. It is human nature to desire different experiences outside of their
cultural circle. One s culture does not influence how they view the world due to autonomy, automatic
assimilation, and operating behind the veil of ignorance.
To begin with, a person s autonomy keeps them from viewing the world through a biased lens.
Assuming that people can think for themselves is also to believe that they can form their own opinions
without blindly following cultural normalities. One would understand that a condemned race would be
in favor of government programs but in Hunger of Memory Chicano writer Richard Rodriguez

This coincides with the fact that many humans have a selfish and ignorant nature which is
undisputable. When the modern family sees another without a television in Us and Them the respond I
don t know that I believe in it [television] either (Sedaris 76). This family s criticism of the other
lifestyle was not due to a cultural standpoint but how they see the world at a hypocritical angle.
Selfishness causes individuals to neglect values to the point where they think like a domesticated
animal. How is one to even understand culture if they fail to understand themselves? Not being self
aware makes one ignore customs within their own pretenses. Most people live this way to the point
where culture doesn t even reach how immersed their are in their tunnel vision view on the

What Is The Tone Of The Seafarer
The Seafarer by Burton Raffel was written during the Anglo Saxon period where the Anglo Saxon
warriors lived to defend their King, like in the story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. One of the
warriors speaks about his challenges and begins saying that his story is not at all joyful. It is a story
full of pain and suffering. The story paints a picture of what it means to be dislocated , set out , all by
oneself and how badly it feels. My feet were cast in icy bands, bound with frost, with frozen chains,
and hardship groaned around my heart. Hunger tore at my sea weary soul. No man sheltered on the
quiet fairness of earth can feel how wretched I was .(Raffel 1) The powerful imagery in this stanza
sets the tone that the narrator is trying to

Empire Notes
Empire
Niall Ferguson
Introduction * To the British, as to people in the rest of the world, imperialism s golden age is now
considered a stain on human history, an era of slavery and racism and the plunder of native lands and
peoples. The notion that imperialism is inherently evil, and that no empire can be a good empire, is an
axiom in today s geopolitics. * Examines the British Empire from an economic perspective,
controversially concluding that the British Empire was, on balance, a good thing * Globalisation is the
biggest thing that Ferguson thanks the British for * English language and ties to London made it

White Plague * Commerce and conquest by themselves would not have been enough to achieve an
Empire no matter what the financial strength or naval power of the British there had to be colonization
* Ferguson is disinclined to believe in the authorised American view of 1776 as a struggle for liberty
against an evil empire . * The imperialists were already experimenting with schemes for devolution,
and politicians at Westminster imagined that American colonies might settle down into membership of
a prototype Commonwealth , with the monarch as a unifying figurehead. * The battles across the
Atlantic merely extended a conflict at home between Whigs and Tories. This, Ferguson argues, really
was the second British or perhaps the first American Civil War. * Some myths about the American
War of Independence are shattered * Ferguson argues that the revolution , contrary to the conventional
revisionist modern American narrative of freedom and

Comparing Mary Anne in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong...
Comparing Mary Anne in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong and Kurtz in Apocalypse Now
In 1979, Francis Coppola released a film that he said he hoped would give its audience a sense of the
horror, the madness, the sensuousness, and the moral dilemma of the Vietnam war (as quoted in Hagen
230). His film, Apocalypse Now, based on Joseph Conrad s 1902 novel Heart of Darkness, is the story
of Captain Benjamin Willard s (Martin Sheen) journey to the interior of the jungle of Southeastern
Asia for the purpose of executing his orders to track down Colonel Walter E. Kurtz (Marlon Brando).
Once Kurtz is located, Willard is to terminate his command with extreme prejudice because Kurtz has
raised an army of deserters and natives, whom he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Greenies report that a couple of times they almost saw her sliding through the shadows, but she
would never return from the jungle (O Brien 125). She was part of the land (125). Like Kurtz, Mary
Anne crosses the line by losing her self control to a primordial madness because of the forces of the
Vietnam environment.
By analyzing the similarities between Mary Anne and Kurtz, we will be able to get a better
understanding as to why O Brien chose the theme of transformation and what it can tell us about his
feelings for the Vietnam war. Initially, when we are introduced to both of the characters as their
converted selves, both are living in settings that reflect their psychological degeneration. As Willard
arrives at Kurtz s compound in the wilderness, he has equivalently stepped back into an age of
barbarism. Rotting corpses hang from the trees, flies buzz around the multitude of sacrificial altars,
half naked Cambodian tribesmen stand and stare, and one would have to be careful not to trip over the
severed heads that are scattered about the muddy jungle floor. Similarly, Fossie is disgusted as he
enters the Greenie s hootch to see the decayed head of a large black leopard; strips of yellow brown
skin dangled from the overhead rafters. And bones. Stacks of bones all kinds (119). Like the natives,
none of the Greenies move or speak, and the stench of blood and scorched hair and excrement and ...

Cuneiform Writing And Hieroglyphics Essay
The investigation attempts to answer the question: How is cuneiform writing and hieroglyphics similar
and different? The research question is relevant because these ancient writing techniques are the base
for the writing system in modern times. The issues that will be addressed are: the reasons behind each
writing system, the important documents recorded, the way both systems were laid out. This
investigation will focus on the time period of 1800 BCE, around the time of Hammurabi s Code, to
150 BCE, around the time of the Rosetta Stone. The main places investigated will be ancient Egypt
and Mesopotamia,in the Middle East near the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, focusing on
Sumerians and Babylonians. This will be accomplished through a thorough examination of The

The Problem Of Medical Errors
Medical error is a major problem that take place in the healthcare system in today s society. Medical
errors in hospitals are the third main cause of death in United States killing 44,000 people per year due
to medical errors. Studies show that poor communication in medical fields has cost up to 1.7 billion
dollars. Miscommunication is the core for this error, failure to clear communication can guide to
serious complication, such as serious problems for patients and deaths. This Mistakes usually happen
when there is a miscommunication between the nurses and the doctors or between patients and
experts. The three common errors, which take place in the medical system are, miscommunication
about patient condition between the doctors and nurses, Shift change between workers or transferring
of patients to a different hospital and the third one is lack of enough practice and somehow negligence.
It is important to understand the condition of a patient and specifically point out the problems of the
patient. Usually this kind of problem occur due to workload pressure and stress. It also emerges due to
failure of understanding patients problems. According to Nirpuma Shankur on his blog which can be

Religion In Bollywood Movies
Significance of religion and Culture in Bollywood Movies
India is considered as the inception of the mythological genre of film. The first feature film of India,
Raja HarishChandra (1913) by Dadasaheb Phalke was the commencement of the explorations of the
mythological genre of films (Dimitrova, 2016). Bollywood movies have been considered as the richest
source of exploring religious and cultural values, (Dunmill. M 2007). Bollywood has produced several
movies and TV shows predicated on gods. Religion composed a very sensitive issue in the Indian
society. Hindu religion is the most commonly practiced religion in India, according to the 2011 census
(Shrivastava, 2015). Movies that are against the religious credences of the audience are considered
blasphemy or attack on the religious sentiments of the community (Qadri Mufti, 2017). Om Jai
Jagadish (2002), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999) and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) are some of the
movies that represented a typical Indian, Hindu family by utilizing traditional costumes and festival
celebrations. Dimitrova (2016) discussed the movie Lagaan (2001) and the portrayal of the religion,
Hinduism in the movie. The movie was predicated in the North Indian village, Champaner, which is a
part of the princely state in 1893 (Dimitrova, 2016). In the movie, British rulers are stereotyped and
represented as cruel, arrogant and superficial. British rulers imposed a tax on the Indian villagers.

The Competitive Advantage of Tyson Foods
Competitive Advantage:
The competitive advantage that Tyson Foods Inc. holds is the large size of the company and its brand
equity. As was mentioned before, the amount of market share that Tyson has been able to maintain
gives the company an edge over the competition. The fact that Tyson supplied meat products to large
franchises such as McDonalds and KFC gives the meat processor stable profits. Brand equity has also
strengthened Tyson s ability to compete in the foods industry. Advertising and promotion expenses for
fiscal 2013, 2012 and 2011 were $555 million, $496 million and $552 million, respectively. The Tyson
brand is well known in the United States and this helps keep the demand for its products high.
ADM s competitive advantage is the fact that it is able to reduce fixed cost by large scale production,
known as economies of scale. The company has manufacturing, distribution, and sales facilities
located in the U.S., Canada, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Since ADM has all of these
locations around the world, it has the capacity and capability to produce its products in massive
quantities. Cost per unit is lowered by spreading fixed costs across a larger product base and this
allows ADM to be price competitive within the industry.
Cost leadership is also an important key to success in any commodity industry since it is one of few
areas where any true profit can be squeezed out of markets defined by undifferentiated products. ADM

torched down busses and killed people who were riding in pickup trucks as an alternative way to get

So what factors lead up this sort of group violence and how are members recruited? This paper will

Studies show that there is a link between parent child bonds and if there is a strong bond between
parents and their child that child is less inclined to engage in delinquent behaviour (Young, Fitzgibbon

(2014) examined levels and trends of delinquency in different types of families such as extended
families, single parent families and the size of the family. Results showed that those who came from
extended families are more likely to join a youth gang versus those who came from smaller families
(Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). Moreover, delinquency rates of those who came from non
traditional homes is 10 15% higher than those from traditional homes (Young, Fitzgibbon and
Silverstone 2014). This shows that in larger families and in families where there is a single parent, the
child is less supervised and therefore, there is a lack of attachment and bonds between family
members. Therefore, youth under these conditions are more likely to join a youth

The Issue Of Disciplinary Infractions For High School...
On Monday, February 29, 2016, I interviewed Dr. K. Wallace, District Administrator for Jefferson
County Public School District. The interview was on the topic of ethical fairness in education. Dr.
Wallace discussed the issue of disciplinary infractions for high school students. He pointed out that
bullying and acts of violence are becoming a major problem for administrators. According to Dr.
Wallace, administrators must learn how to strike a balance in respecting the rights of children and
eradicating acts of bullying and violence.
According to Dr. Wallace, two students at Jefferson County High School were scheduled a due process
hearing for bullying. He revealed that the two students had made threats on social media and brought
weapons to school. However, the two students alleged that they were the ones being bullied and only
brought the weapons to protect themselves from a gang of girls and their parents. The two young
ladies are academic scholars and have no prior disciplinary history.
Dr. Wallace maintained that there is a need to adopt common sense policies that adequately address
bullying and consequences for it. He contended that all stakeholders must be held accountable in order
to eliminate this issue. Dr. Wallace suggested that school district personnel receive professional
development on properly handling acts of violence and bullying. He also noted that school leaders
must provide their staff with the tools and resources to identify and address bullying. He

Statement of Purpose
When I was in standard 6th, I was introduced to some basic scientific theories like gravitation and
force. Since then I have been very curious to learn more about them and when I studied them further I
wondered how Newton came to the conclusion that force is equal to mass into acceleration. We know
that acceleration is dv/dt, the first derivative of velocity with respect to time. But what is time? Is it
more than seconds or minutes or even hours? Since the definition of time is duration and duration is
just the passage of time, so the curiosity to know exactly what time is entranced my interest in

George Eastman was born in Waterville, New York in 1880, where he opened the Eastman Dry Plate
and Film Company. Although he did not invent the camera, he made it suitable for the common man
to use, by inventing film roll. He had aggressively created one of the world s largest industrial
companies, donated millions of dollars to the Tuskegee Institute, and many children s health
organizations. George Eastman is a legendary revolutionist who revamped the film industry, and
whose legacy hale and hearty refined the world. Many people disregarded George Eastman s place in

Pathogenesis Research Paper
Pathogenesis The intestinal tract is responsible for the secretion and reabsorption of fluids and
electrolytes, handling approximately 6,500 mL of fluid / day in an adult. Of this fluid only 2,000 mL
to 3,000 mL comes from fluid consumption. The remaining portion comes from a combination of the
foods we eat, gastric, pancreatic, biliary, and upper intestinal secretions. (Center for Disease Control
and Prevention, 2003) In acute gastroenteritis the re absorptive capacity of the gastrointestinal (GI)
tract is overwhelmed, causing diarrhea and leading to dehydration if left untreated. To prevent or
correct dehydration it is important to replace the lost fluids. Due to the overwhelmed GI tract water
alone will not be absorbed and therefore

The Social Regulation Policy Of Healthcare Insurance
Much debate over the social regulation policy of healthcare insurance through the Affordable Care Act
has been on its efficacy by requiring Americans to be insured. The most recent public poll for
November from the Kaiser Family Foundation has indicated 35% of respondents favored the policy
with 45% finding it unfavorable (Kaiser). Individuals favoring this policy are in support of extending
health insurance coverage to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it due to costs or pre
existing conditions. Those against this policy are concerned of the costs behind expanding public
insurance to millions more individuals will be more than private insurance due to a wider range of
benefits under public care (Ku and Broads, w318). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A potential alternative for the rise in out of pocket expenses is due to many individuals being female.
The underlying theory for this rival hypothesis is that women are more likely to experience various
medical procedures as routine check ups throughout their lifetime compared to male counterparts such
as for pregnancies or mammograms. This may be true with increasing life spans and with the average
woman s lifespan slightly more than men.
Data The dataset used in this policy memo is an extract from the 2010 Medical Expenditure Panel
Survey (MEPS). It surveyed 32,846 individuals across the United States. The outcome is a continuous
variable, indicating the out of pocket expenses paid by an individual or family for medical care. My
main predictor variable is binary and will be whether or not the individual had health insurance
coverage, either private or public. My alternative explanatory variable is a binary variable of whether
or not the respondent is female, with females being 52% of the sample. This variable is important
because it could be used as an indication of whether women are more likely to undergo various
hospital procedures as part of a routine wellness checkup or gender biasedness in care. For this study, I

Essay On The Boston Tea Party
There were many events that led to the American Revolution. However, the most significant event that
started the revolution was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party is the most crucial event that
took place because it started rebellious actions, it led to a chain of events which eventually caused the
war to start, and it riled up many people. The first reason why The Boston Tea Party, which is also
called the Midnight Raid, is the most significant event leading up to the American Revolution is
because it started rebellious actions. The Boston Tea Party started as a protest against the British
taxing the American colonists tea. On December 16th, 1773, an association of around seventy men
organized by Samuel Adams climbed aboard three British ships. This group of seventy men can also
be identified as the Sons of Liberty. They were dressed as Mohawk or Narragansett Indians that would
disguise them. They thought this would deceive the British into thinking they were Native Americans
and not the Americans. It is accounted that they wore an Indian dress, which contained blankets or
ragged clothing with soot rubbed on their faces. Once aboard the ships, the men dumped 342 chests of
English tea into the Boston Harbor. They did this as a reaction to the Stamp Act, which put taxes on
paper items and tea, and because of taxation without representation. The tea that they dumped out was
valued at around eighteen thousand dollars and was over ninety two thousand pounds. They

Boyz In The Hood Social Role Theory
Boyz in the Hood starts off with the character Tre Styles as a young man who lives in South Central,
Los Angeles with his mom Rita. The social work student viewed this beginning portion of the movie
portraying his young life as a social worker. The social work student noticed that Tre lived with his
mother in an apartment in a rough neighborhood. Tre went to school but had problems acting out and
being the class clown. Tre and the friends he hung around here had foul language and used profanity
as young kids. This is just one example of how Tre s surroundings influenced his life. According to
Newman Newman (2014), the Social Role theory suggests that a person learns behaviors from
observing in their environments. Young Tre Styles learned profanity from somewhere in his rough
environment and this is a method of learning socially. Rita, his mother was working on her Master s
degree and wanted better for Tre, so it is unlikely she promoted the use of profanity in her household.
A contract between the two was drafter and Tre agreed with his mother that if he did not behave he
would move in with his father. Rita stayed true to the contract they drafted and took Tre to live with
his father Furious, so Tre could learn how to be a man.
Fast forward 7 years later to a now older Tre Styles, his educational background has grown and the
only minor source of trauma that has occurred could be the change of living with his father instead of
his mother now. Tre still talked to his mom

First Crusades Dbq
Before the first Crusade, Western Europe had become a place with not much progress, confined from
other civilizations and hidden in the Dark Ages that had gone down on Western Christendom after the
collapse of the Roman Empire. At the time of the first Crusade, the Middle East and Western Europe
were greatly divided. The Crusades contributed to the end of Western Europe s global isolation by
introducing an era in which Western Europe came into direct contact with the large trade routes that
united their civilization with Asia.
The Crusades introduced many Western Europeans to trading. Many goods flowed along these trade
routes such as spices, silk, cotton, paper, medicines and other endless amounts of products. The trade

These reasons resulted in what became a prosperous first crusade led by the Pope himself. The
political reasons ranged from a desire for adventure to the land of Jerusalem, wanting to gain more
power, and other economic rationales. By the end of the first crusade, the Crusaders were victorious in
stripping more than forty silver candelabra and more than twenty gold ones in the Dome of the Rock.
The economic reasons included gaining more wealth, land, riches and multiple goods. The Pope
claims that the Crusaders must ...rush quickly as [they] can to the defence of the Eastern Church and
that it s ...a beautiful thing to die for Christ... . The religious reasons the Crusaders thought to be true
was that the crusade was God s call for the Christian brothers to accomplish their attack on the
Muslims. The Muslims were filled with grief as the Arab Historian, Ibn al Athir, recalls that ...the
Franks slaughtered more than 70,000 people...women and children taken prisoner, the homes
pillaged... . Unlike the rejoice in the documents and articles from the Crusaders perspectives, the
Muslim perspective felt sorrow for those who died innocently. The Crusaders destroyed an extensive
portion the Jerusalem land and population, taking away valuable riches and treasures from the Holy
Land. While later crusades failed to accomplish that of the crusade led by Pope Urban III, I greatly
believe that the first crusade was a great

The And Its Impact On The Future
The man, a little being compared to the Universe, often feels threatened by wars, comets, natural
phenomena and all those dates that contain repeating numbers that seem to bring the end of the world,
but truly the end comes? To this day, many predictions about the end of the world have emerged, but
none has come true, that is why it has always existed and will probably continue to exist that doubt
about what will happen to the world in the future. The end has been predicted by scientists, ancient
civilizations, different religions, and many others. For example, Nostradamus was one of the most
famous scientists that wrote many prophecies and events about the future, his predictions are known
worldwide and have impacted societies; as him, there are other scientists such as Isaac Newton,
Stephen Hawking, and Richard Noone. Moreover, the Mayans, an ancient civilization, known as one
of the most advanced civilizations in the field of mathematics, astronomy, physics and arts; they are
also known for predicting that the world would end of December 21, 2012. Perhaps, this was one of
the most famous prophecies in recent times. Also, different religions such as the Jehovah s Witnesses
has predicted many times the end of the world. The impact of this topic is very well known, many
people have been influenced greatly. Even Hollywood have been carried away by those predictions
and theories, creating movies such as The day after tomorrow or 2012 , where they show what would
happen.

Essay on There is More to Vikings than Violence
History typically describes the Vikings as the fiercest, most brutal of all the barbarian groups that
invaded Europe. Historians agree that the Vikings were fierce, but was there more to them than that.
The word Viking has been used to identify people who lived in Sweden, Norway and Denmark in
early medieval times. In the language Old Norse, Viking means pirate. Sometimes they were known as
Northmen or Danes. The Vikings shared a similar heritage as the Saxons, a group of people who had
previously invaded Britain.
The Vikings sailed to other foreign countries because they weren t able to do many profitable things in
their own homes. The soil was infertile, and the land was rocky and covered in ice and snow for most
of the year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odin was the ?All father? of all the gods and was extremely wise. He exchanged one of his eyes for
wisdom. Other gods and goddesses included Loki (the trickster god), Freyja (goddess of love and
beauty) and Frey (god of fertility and Freyja?s brother).
England, Scotland and Wales were Christian countries, and when the Vikings resettled there, many of
them converted to Christianity. However, some remained faithful to their old religion at the same time.
This shows that the Vikings weren?t just killing machines that spent all their time murdering people
and raiding villages. They didn?t just think of war all the time and they actually spent time
worshipping gods like we still do today.
In addition, we can see that their culture was important, even down to the clothes they wore. Like
most people during that time, the Vikings mostly used wool to make their clothes. They had to dress
warmly because their home was very cold. They dyed the cloth with mineral and vegetable dyes of
red, green, yellow, brown and blue.
Viking men would wear a long woollen shirt and long cloth pants held up by a drawstring or sash. On
top of this was worn a sleeved jerkin or a three quarter coat with a belt. On their feet they would wear
socks and soft leather shoes or long leather boots. In battle, the Vikings would wear an iron helmet and
chain mail to protect themselves.
A Viking woman would wear a long linen dress. It could be either plain or pleated. Over the dress a

The Core Qualities of Taylorism Essay
Taylorism refers to a systematic way of business decision making based on the on the qualitative

when it was introduced and is still popular even today. The core qualities of taylorism and the related

It may also reduce mobility of labour, thereby resulting in low quality goods being produced.
Taylor proposed rules related to standardization and control in order to gauge direct control of
employees by the managers, which would in turn increase the work efficiency of the workers. It gives
full authority to the managers to redesign, allocate or supervise the workers without giving due
importance to the opinions or perceptions of the employees. According to this principle, it is not
mandatory to consult the employees or to know their wants or preferences when making all important
decisions of the organization. This refers to a mechanistic organization, which is characterized by
centralization of authority and formalization of strict procedures or practices down the hierarchy along
with functional specialization. One application of standardization or direct control can be seen in the
accounting firms where the supervisor accountants guide their operative accountants thereby boosting
the efficiency of their lower rank accountants by simplifying the complex accounting processes for
them. However, adoption of this process remains limited due to its inflexibility and lack of innovation
and commitment by the employees. It may give rise to rigidity, which must be overcome in order to
motivate the employees to a greater extent and give them the liberty to voice their opinions in certain
matters.

The Indian Constitution
INTRODUCTION The undeniable fundamental rights were preserved in Part III of the Indian
Constitution. Directive Principles were enumerated in Part IV of the Constitution. The terms
fundamental rights have not been defined in the Constitution. Article 12 imposes duty on the state to
protect citizens for enjoying the Fundamental Rights. Each article has a distinct, important an valuable
fundamental right empowering the citizens. These rights primarily aimed at assuring political freedom
to the citizens by protecting them against excessive State action. They are given a pride of place in the
Constitution by the Drafting Committee. Despite being part of the same constitution, a contrast is
often made between part III and part IV i.e. between fundamental rights and directive principles. The
main reasons are the judicial enforceability of FR and its nature being negative obligation of the state.
The Fundamental Rights are enforceable. The directives are non ¬justifiable and are more in the
nature of positive affirmations of the state. However in recent time, some of the directives have been
made a part of chapter on Fundamental Rights to be in tune with the requirements of changing polity.
ARTICLE 31 C In 25th Amendment, 1971 Art 31 C was added by the Constitution. The importance of
the directive principles are enhanced by this amendment. As stated in the object clause of the Bill, the
object of the amendment was enacted to get over the difficulties placed in the way of

A person, according to the damage, may experience blurriness, nausea and/or vomiting, confusion,
and headache in a mild case in a controlled atmosphere. However in the more dangerous cases, such
as when a player may receive a minor concussion and recognize the symptoms and goes back into the
game, the symptoms and results worsen significantly. In this case Dr. Fernicola describes Second
Impact Syndrome where the symptoms that may be experienced are such as loss of consciousness
and/or loss of short term memory (Fernicola). Before the mid 1990s the medical field was not as
cautious about concussions as they are today, the treatments and test were primitive. Because of the
lack of knowledge on the issue, this has created many former players not understanding why they are
so severely afflicted and in need of so much medical attention. Mike Webster one of the most well

Linguistics and Child
.Introduction
Language is a human tendency to communicate with others and this could underlie the emergence of
language. Montessori said, To talk is in the nature of man. Humans needed language in order to
communicate, and soon, the powers that come with language were revealed. The evolution of the
human language began when communication was done through pictograms or pictures and drawings.
It then developed into ideograms when pictures began to turn into symbols. Later, these symbols
became words, words involved letters, vowels emerged, one symbol came to represent one sound, an
alphabet was created, and then came the alphabet we now use today. And just as language evolved

Montessori Prepared Environment | | | |
|
The prepared environment is Maria Montessori s concept that the environment can be designed to
facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration by the child. In the prepared environment,
there is a variety of activity as well as a great deal of movement. In a preschool classroom, for
example, a three year old may be washing clothes by hand while a four year old nearby is composing
words and phrases with letters known as the movable alphabet, and a five year old is performing
multiplication using a specially designed set of beads. In an elementary classroom, a small group of
six to nine year old children may be using a timeline to learn about extinct animals while another child
chooses to work alone, analyzing a poem using special grammar symbols. Sometimes an entire class
may be involved in a group activity, such as storytelling, singing, or movement. In the calm, ordered
space of the Montessori prepared environment, children work on activities of their own choice at their
own pace. They experience a blend of freedom and self discipline in a place especially designed to
meet their developmental needs

Write A Short Story Of A Story
I couldn t sleep and I wasn t going to be able to sleep. I was an insomniac despite my parents telling
me I just wanted to be up late at night. Please. No one wants to be awake at 4:30 in the morning. But I
tossed and turned anyway, trying desperately to get my body to rest. Eventually I decided to give up
and position myself on a chair facing my window. I tried to do this when I couldn t sleep because it
was peaceful outside and sometimes I relaxed so much I fell asleep. Other times I just watched the sun
rise. My window faced the backyard, a huge plot of land that housed a miniature forest of sorts. The
wind was blowing that night and the leaves on the tree shook gently, quietly. Every once in a while, I
could hear an owl s hoot slice through the silence. I felt myself starting to nod off when suddenly, all
of the leaves shot off the trees. So quickly I wasn t even sure I saw it. But there they sat, trees with
bare branches in the middle of March when they should ve been green and lush. I tried to get up
slowly, to look closer at the window, but then I saw it. Rising between the tree roots was a shadowy
black figure. It wasn t perfectly formed and seemed to be covered in tiny white dots. Almost like
spores. Then I remembered my dad complaining as he and I ripped mushrooms out of the ground a
few weeks before. He had asked me to help because he said that they kept coming back, each time

Implementing Complex Protocols On The Network System
Introduction:
In the present computer networks are being built by implementing complex protocols on an array of
network devices such as routers, switches and middleware like ISD intrusion detection systems and
firewalls systems. In order to allow the network to be modified to the changing environment, the
network Administrator have to manually configures all new configuration policies by converting them
into the low level commands that are supported by the system. Companies need to depend on the
network vendors in order to deal with the problems related to security, scalability, manageability and
other issues. Many efforts have been done to make the network programmable even before the SDN.
Some of those are Forces (2003), Routing Control Platform (2004), Ethane (2007), and Open Flow
(2008).
Main body:
Network technology passed many stapes to reach the advance level it is now a days. The first step was
how to control a packet switched network which started the project Forces which was implemented in
2003. It has Protocols for multiple control elements and forwarding elements, the project failed
because it requires standardization, adoption, deployment of new hardware. After the failure of Forces
a new project have been applied called Routing Control Platform (RCP) which was implemented in
2004.The RCP computes routes on behalf of routers, the RCP uses existing routing protocol (BGP) to
communicate routes to routers. The RCP Convert the best route of internal routing

  • 2. The Employment Status Of Workers Essay INTRODUCTION It is certainly true that the current law defining the employment status of workers is uncertain, as it is wholly inflexible to deal effectively with cases of non standard forms of employment, atypical workers, for example: agency workers, part time workers, fixed term workers, as required workers and homeworkers. Thus, reform is necessary to redress the concerns of lack of legal certainty in relation to this area of the law. This essay will argue that the concept of worker defined under section 230 of the Employment Rights Act ( ERA ) 1996 is board; however, due to the undefined scope of section 230(3) of ERA 1996, employment tribunals and the courts have adapted a rigid approach in their interpretation; that there is a high degree of legal uncertainty as established in this area of law; that the law does not adequately deal with non standard forms of workers ; present proposals for reform by the UK Parliament on the interpretation and application of law at common; and finally provide a conclusion for the arguments put forth. THE CURRENT STATE OF THE LAW Firstly, employment tribunals and the courts have interpreted the concept of workers too narrowly, by limiting the common law interpretation of workers under section 230(3) of the ERA 1996 and rights conferred on workers. Under section 230(3) ERA 1996, worker is defined as an individual who has entered into work: under a contract of employment, or any other contract express or implied... to do ... • 3. Neanderthals, Ancestors to Human Beings Essay The most recent ancestor to the modern human, Homo neanderthalensis existed between 300,000 and 35,000 years ago. Originating in Africa, ancestors of the early Neanderthals migrated northwards almost 800,000 years ago. These migrants colonized much of the Old World with the majority based in Europe and small groups scattered throughout the Middle East and Asia. Historically, the Neanderthals were among the most resiliant creatures to exist on Earth. As a population, they thrived during the European ice age 40,000 years ago. This ice age enveloped the majority of Northern and Central Europe and due to their physique were the Neanderthals were able to surive. Physcially, the Neanderthals were larger and more muscular than today s human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their weapons which consisted at most consisted of spears which required confrontational hunting. The average Neanderthal life spanned thirty years due to the extreme physical strain and harsh living conditions of life during this period of Earth s history. Traditionally, Neanderthals have been viewed as large, hulking ape like beings that survived by aggression and power through the harshest conditions possible on earth. They have been painted as unsophisticated and unable to compete with humans on an intellectual level. These academics theorized that superior human intellect and reasoning gave humans the advantage in hunting game and securing the most valuable natural resource, eventually driving the Homo neanderthalensis to extinction 30,000 years ago. Popular culture describes Neanderthals as first viewed by science as large, hulking ape like beings. However, new evidence suggests that one of the first reconstructed Neanderthal skeletons did not consider that the individual suffered from acute arthritis. Despite unique, this Neanderthal s hunching posture was associated with the entire species, giving one the impression of a brutish caveman . This new understanding has reformed research on the Neanderthal and a new understanding of humanity s earliest ancestor By examining Neanderthal tools and utensils one can gain an understanding of the complexity of ... • 4. Hunger Of Memory Summary Culture can be defined as manifestations of intellectual achievement which is not a facet of bias. How one sees the world actually comes from aspects such as emotional experiences and life events. One change could cause a butterfly effect that will forever change said person s opinions. Culture is an aspect of art and customs throughout a community that remains in a sector of life whether the person intends it to be that way or not. It is human nature to desire different experiences outside of their cultural circle. One s culture does not influence how they view the world due to autonomy, automatic assimilation, and operating behind the veil of ignorance. To begin with, a person s autonomy keeps them from viewing the world through a biased lens. Assuming that people can think for themselves is also to believe that they can form their own opinions without blindly following cultural normalities. One would understand that a condemned race would be in favor of government programs but in Hunger of Memory Chicano writer Richard Rodriguez ...argued against ... This family s criticism of the other lifestyle was not due to a cultural standpoint but how they see the world at a hypocritical angle. Selfishness causes individuals to neglect values to the point where they think like a domesticated animal. How is one to even understand culture if they fail to understand themselves? What Is The Tone Of The Seafarer The Seafarer by Burton Raffel was written during the Anglo Saxon period where the Anglo Saxon warriors lived to defend their King, like in the story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. One of the warriors speaks about his challenges and begins saying that his story is not at all joyful. It is a story full of pain and suffering. The story paints a picture of what it means to be dislocated , set out , all by oneself and how badly it feels. My feet were cast in icy bands, bound with frost, with frozen chains, and hardship groaned around my heart. Hunger tore at my sea weary soul. No man sheltered on the quiet fairness of earth can feel how wretched I was .(Raffel 1) The powerful imagery in this stanza sets the tone that the narrator is trying to ... • 6. Empire Notes Empire Niall Ferguson Introduction * To the British, as to people in the rest of the world, imperialism s golden age is now considered a stain on human history, an era of slavery and racism and the plunder of native lands and peoples. The notion that imperialism is inherently evil, and that no empire can be a good empire, is an axiom in today s geopolitics. * Examines the British Empire from an economic perspective, controversially concluding that the British Empire was, on balance, a good thing * Globalisation is the biggest thing that Ferguson thanks the British for * English language and ties to London made it possible * The Leftist opponents of globalisation naturally regard it as no more than the latest ... This, Ferguson argues, really was the second British or perhaps the first American Civil War. * Some myths about the American War of Independence are shattered * Ferguson argues that the revolution , contrary to the conventional revisionist modern American narrative of freedom and ... Comparing Mary Anne in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong and Kurtz in Apocalypse Now In 1979, Francis Coppola released a film that he said he hoped would give its audience a sense of the horror, the madness, the sensuousness, and the moral dilemma of the Vietnam war (as quoted in Hagen 230). His film, Apocalypse Now, based on Joseph Conrad s 1902 novel Heart of Darkness, is the story of Captain Benjamin Willard s (Martin Sheen) journey to the interior of the jungle of Southeastern Asia for the purpose of executing his orders to track down Colonel Walter E. Kurtz (Marlon Brando). Once Kurtz is located, Willard is to terminate his command with extreme prejudice because Kurtz has raised an army of deserters and natives, whom he ... She was part of the land (125). Like Kurtz, Mary Anne crosses the line by losing her self control to a primordial madness because of the forces of the Vietnam environment. By analyzing the similarities between Mary Anne and Kurtz, we will be able to get a better understanding as to why O Brien chose the theme of transformation and what it can tell us about his feelings for the Vietnam war. Initially, when we are introduced to both of the characters as their converted selves, both are living in settings that reflect their psychological degeneration. As Willard arrives at Kurtz s compound in the wilderness, he has equivalently stepped back into an age of barbarism. Rotting corpses hang from the trees, flies buzz around the multitude of sacrificial altars, half naked Cambodian tribesmen stand and stare, and one would have to be careful not to trip over the severed heads that are scattered about the muddy jungle floor. Similarly, Fossie is disgusted as he enters the Greenie s hootch to see the decayed head of a large black leopard; strips of yellow brown skin dangled from the overhead rafters. And bones. As was mentioned before, the amount of market share that Tyson has been able to maintain gives the company an edge over the competition. The fact that Tyson supplied meat products to large franchises such as McDonalds and KFC gives the meat processor stable profits. Brand equity has also strengthened Tyson s ability to compete in the foods industry. Advertising and promotion expenses for fiscal 2013, 2012 and 2011 were $555 million, $496 million and $552 million, respectively. The Tyson brand is well known in the United States and this helps keep the demand for its products high. ADM s competitive advantage is the fact that it is able to reduce fixed cost by large scale production, known as economies of scale. The company has manufacturing, distribution, and sales facilities located in the U.S., Canada, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Since ADM has all of these locations around the world, it has the capacity and capability to produce its products in massive quantities. Cost per unit is lowered by spreading fixed costs across a larger product base and this allows ADM to be price competitive within the industry. Studies show that there is a link between parent child bonds and if there is a strong bond between parents and their child that child is less inclined to engage in delinquent behaviour (Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). To support this argument, a study done by Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone (2014) examined levels and trends of delinquency in different types of families such as extended families, single parent families and the size of the family. Results showed that those who came from extended families are more likely to join a youth gang versus those who came from smaller families (Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). Moreover, delinquency rates of those who came from non traditional homes is 10 15% higher than those from traditional homes (Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). This shows that in larger families and in families where there is a single parent, the child is less supervised and therefore, there is a lack of attachment and bonds between family members. • 19. The Issue Of Disciplinary Infractions For High School... On Monday, February 29, 2016, I interviewed Dr. K. Wallace, District Administrator for Jefferson County Public School District. The interview was on the topic of ethical fairness in education. Dr. Wallace discussed the issue of disciplinary infractions for high school students. He pointed out that bullying and acts of violence are becoming a major problem for administrators. According to Dr. Wallace, administrators must learn how to strike a balance in respecting the rights of children and eradicating acts of bullying and violence. According to Dr. Wallace, two students at Jefferson County High School were scheduled a due process hearing for bullying. He revealed that the two students had made threats on social media and brought weapons to school. However, the two students alleged that they were the ones being bullied and only brought the weapons to protect themselves from a gang of girls and their parents. The two young ladies are academic scholars and have no prior disciplinary history. Dr. Wallace maintained that there is a need to adopt common sense policies that adequately address bullying and consequences for it. He contended that all stakeholders must be held accountable in order to eliminate this issue. Dr. Wallace suggested that school district personnel receive professional development on properly handling acts of violence and bullying. He also noted that school leaders must provide their staff with the tools and resources to identify and address bullying. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Essay On The Boston Tea Party There were many events that led to the American Revolution. However, the most significant event that started the revolution was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party is the most crucial event that took place because it started rebellious actions, it led to a chain of events which eventually caused the war to start, and it riled up many people. The first reason why The Boston Tea Party, which is also called the Midnight Raid, is the most significant event leading up to the American Revolution is because it started rebellious actions. The Boston Tea Party started as a protest against the British taxing the American colonists tea. On December 16th, 1773, an association of around seventy men organized by Samuel Adams climbed aboard three British ships. This group of seventy men can also be identified as the Sons of Liberty. They were dressed as Mohawk or Narragansett Indians that would disguise them. They thought this would deceive the British into thinking they were Native Americans and not the Americans. It is accounted that they wore an Indian dress, which contained blankets or ragged clothing with soot rubbed on their faces. Once aboard the ships, the men dumped 342 chests of English tea into the Boston Harbor. In order to allow the network to be modified to the changing environment, the network Administrator have to manually configures all new configuration policies by converting them into the low level commands that are supported by the system. Companies need to depend on the network vendors in order to deal with the problems related to security, scalability, manageability and other issues.
