  • 2. Conditions for Learning 2 Two primary learning philosophies are: Pedagogy means the science of leading [teaching] children. The pedagogical model was primarily used to teach PEDAGOGY Andragogy is described as “the art and science of helping adults to learn.” ANDRAGOGY Both approaches in training to be viewed for Particular learners and particular situation LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
  • 3. Conditions for Learning 3 Adult learning styles We are primarily concerned with adult learning

Conditions for Learning 4 Assumptions About Adult Learning The desire to know The need to be self directed The need to build on their experiences Adults wish to know why they need to learn Adults resist when they are forced to learn Adults have developed experience that should be used by appropriate learning method Learning is the heart of training & development

Conditions for Learning 5 WHAT COMPRISES LEARNING  Learning is to gain knowledge or skill  It is understanding: Principles Concept Techniques Approaches  Learning need to be remembered & practiced  Learner should engage in: Doing Reviewing Reflecting Planning  Knowledge & skill acquired to be transferred to: Working methods Practices Attitude Behavior

Conditions for Learning 6 LEARNING PRINCIPLES Every human being is capable to learn Each one has intellectual capacity to learn Training program to be implemented logically Different levels of learning exist Interest & motives are essential Time to be provided to practice Learning is rarely at constant rate
