The document analyzes two movie trailers - The Pink Panther and War of the Worlds - by examining the placement and content of graphics within each trailer. Key findings include:
1) Graphics make up about 10 out of 40 frames in each trailer, with most frames at the beginning and end focusing on production companies and credits.
2) The middle sections showcase narrative elements and star names to portray genre and attract audiences.
3) Both trailers follow common conventions by emphasizing graphics at the end to reinforce the film title and release date.
We watched both the theatrical trailers for Kong Skull Island, and Rings. We were then asked to create a report on the 7 key conventions of movie trailers. My report is shown below.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

- 10 out of 40ish frames.
- Approx 4 of the 10 titles is logos/credit blocks.
- Approx 2/3 refer to stars director/actor.
- Approx 3 titles are written text, referring to narrative
(genre).
• Note the placement of frames – what and when!
There are more frames at the end and at the beginning of
the trailer and only a couple in the middle as this is when the
most action in happening on screen. At the beginning we are
given the production companies names and logos. The
middle section we are presented with a small insight into the
storyline followed by the names of the main actors/directors.
4. To end the trailer we have the name of the film, credit
blocks and when the film will be out in the cinema.
• What patterns/conventions are common to both?
The most number of graphics happen between the 30th and
40th screens this is to end the trailer. Both trailers start and
end with the same sort of information and follow the same
patterns.
Think about the structure of your trailer.
How can you use graphics to convey genre, T A, star status, facts
and narrative?
