Music: The music is effective as it starts of calm and silent, with just the character voice over narrative. As the tension
of the trailer builds up the slight sounds of drums and bangs are heard to make it more intense. Once the people are
shown moving into a new life, the music is quiet but joyful such as the sounds of a violin and piano in order to create a
happy atmosphere representing a new life and creates a happy atmosphere but as the trailer progresses the music
becomes quiet again and then in order to build up tension a happy song is played with sound effects of bangs, booms
and screaming over the top. All this is used to build up the tension in the atmosphere which then makes the trailer
very effective in showing the horror genre as it has the audience on edge from using the music to become very
dramatic and intense creating tension and horror.
Character voice over: In the trailer a character voice over is used to narrate. They are a reliable character that the
audience sides with throughout the film and this helps them in aid of character identification when they watch the film.
The audience will straight away know that this is one of the main characters and positions the audience to be on that
character's side. This is particularly effective in the horror genre as sometimes it’s difficult to know who the
protagonist and antagonist it as a way of twisting the plot.
Font style: Bold, large serif font used for the intertitles creating a creepy, spooky looking effect suitable for the genre
of horror. The font uses animated graphics, bring the intertitles forwards towards the audience. This is used to give
the intertitles more prominence to the audience.
Colour scheme: Dark, dim lit lighting created through the use of low-key lighting. These dark, dim lit lighting schemes
helps to represent the genre of horror which is helped to be reflected in the dark visual style of lighting. This colour
scheme is used throughout the trailer, including in the intertitle fonts using grey, white and black colours and also
these colours are again used in the intertitles background creating a spooky, intense effect.
Camera work: The camera work in the trailer is very effective in the way that it is representing the genre of horror and
creating a essense of mystery. The very first shot in the trailer is a long shot of the house the characters are located
in, in the starting point of the film. This shows the audience the location dn where the scene is set. The shot uses low-key
lighting as it is very dim lit showing to the audience that the scene is set at night time. The very first few shots are
all mid-shots of the characters and long shots of location. This is so that the audience get an idea for what the
characters are and also learn where the scene is set. As the trailer goes on a wide variety of shots are used such as
the use of close-ups, wide shots, low angle and high angle shots (these are particularly effective in showing to the
audience the power ‘Annabelle’ the doll, has over the characters as it shows power in hierarchy in the shots.

Music: The music is an example of a musical motif, the film has two previous sequels and throughout
the sequels they use the same type of recognizable dramatic, dreamlike and epic sounding music. The
music is mostly recognizable as of the fantasy genre. It uses instruments such as light drums, trumpets,
violins and cellos etc. This creates a kind of fantasy music that is used throughout. One of the effective
pieces of music the trailer uses is using the trumpet sound that is associated with London's buckingham
palace. This helps to set the location for the audience telling them that one of the locations of the film is
located in london.
Narrative: The shots that we see in the trailer aren’t in chronological order as this is quite a action
packed film so the shots are ordered in a way to make the film look exciting and enticing to the audience
while showing a hint of the storyline without giving too much away. One of the ways that the narrative is
shown in an effective way is though the various wide shot of location settings, such as the long shot
outside of the musuem and also outside of lodnon museam. This is used as a way to give the audience
an idea of where the location of the film is set within the trailer but doesn’t give them to much away.
Voice over: The narrative voiceover in the trailer is a mix of main charathers over the top of the shots
throughout. The charthers we hear are all used so taht the audience are able to idenity them in the film
and also makes the audence relate to them when they watch it. This makes the audience be postioned
on the side of the audience and have them feel empathy for these particular charthers in the situation
they are in, in the film.
Font style: In the trailer they’re no intertitles as it is all narrated over the top but the titles showing the
title of the film at the end of the movie uses brown and red colours giving the titles a historical looking
effect which suits the theme of the movie.
Camera work: The pace of the shots start of slow and then as the action shots start the shots become
jumpy and fast and build up to a climax.

Camera work: Beginning starts of slow, mostly showing establishing shots showing the location of the
characters and helping to show the narrative of the film. The pace gets faster as the action and
adventure shots start, making the trailer exciting and appealing for the audience.
Music: The music used is quite dramatic and epic sounding. As it’s for the hunger games the music
when listening to the trailer is quite recognizable to those who watch the hunger games as it has quite
distinctive sounds. The music used creates a dramatic and tense atmosphere. This is an example of a
musical motif. It links together music wise with the previous two films in the sequel. This makes the
music recognisable to the audience and enhances the excitement for the film as they are reminded of
the previous films. Some of the sounds used in the trailer in order to make this kind of epic-sounding
music is the sound of drums, violins, cellos and trumpets. The music sounds as if a link between fantasy
and action, fitting in with the films genre well and is recognisable to the audience.
Intertitles: The font style of the intertitles is bold, large and eye-catching. The type of font being serif. The
font style used matches the font style used within the previous two films in the sequel, making the fact
that this is a sequel to the the other hunger games films recognisable. The colours of this suit the colour
scheme of the hunger games such as oranges and black, which stand out against each other.
Voiceover: The voiceover explaining the narrative is of the main character Katniss whose voice is easily
recognizable to the audience. By using the main character Katniss at the voiceover for the trailer the
audience easily relate to the character and become attached to the character of her. Having her as the
voice over also tells the audience that she is the main protagonist and put them in a position of
empathising with her.
