Education is vital to the pace of the social,
political and economic development of any
nation
 Due to advancement of technology
educational system have developed and
created various educational methods.
 In our day’s education can be acquired
through several ways such as attending
university, online learning, self-study, or
hiring independent tutor.
 Effective teaching is important because
teaching is based on helping children
progress.
A tradition is a belief or
behavior passed down within
a group or society with
symbolic meaning or special
significance with origins in
the past.
 Traditional teaching is concerned with the
teacher being the controller of the learning
environment
 Power and responsibility are held by the
teacher.
They regard students as having 'knowledge
holes' that need to be filled with
information.
 Traditional class requires a fixed place or environment
for learning and teaching.
Traditional method of teaching is
when a teacher directs students to
learn through
memorization
Recitation
 techniques thereby not developing
their critical thinking problem solving
and decision making skills.
COMPUTER ASSISTED TEACHING
Computer-assisted teaching usually
includes multimedia instructional
formats, such as animation, video
and simulation, and virtual learning
environment such as WebCT and
Blackboard.
Computer can play an important role in
enhancing the efficiency of the teaching
process.
 making students more creative and
providing them with an individualized
learning environment.
 Amongst all teaching strategies, Computer
Assisted Teaching is perhaps the best
because it offers individualized instruction.
Computer assisted learning
Computer assisted learning(CLA) to
use computer aid to support learning
process
Computer-aided- or computer-assisted-
is a prefix that hints to the
use of a computer as an indispensable
tool in a certain field, usually derived
from more traditional fields of
science and engineering.
CAL is individualized, that is each student is
free to work at his own place, totally
unaffected by the performance of any other
students.
 Information is presented in a structured
form. It proves useful in the study of a subject
where there is hierarchy of facts and rules.
CAL forces active participation on the part of
the student, which contrasts with the more
passive role in reading a book or attending a
lecture.
 CAL packages may not fulfill expectations
of teachers. Objectives and methods
decided by the CAL author and of a teacher
may differ.
 Motivating and training teachers to make
use of computers in education is a
challenging task. They may have fear of this
new device.
Gives the instructor the chance to expose
students to unpublished or not readily
available material.
Complements certain individual learning
preferences.
Some students depend upon the structure
provided by highly teacher-centered
methods.
Places students in a passive rather than an
active role, which hinders learning.
Requires the instructor to have or to learn
effective writing and speaking skills.
Requires a considerable amount of
unguided student time outside of the
classroom to enable understanding and
long-term retention of content
