Evaluation Of The Drafting Process

The Drafting Process
Draft 1
Weaknesses
After I printed off my Draft letter 1 I notice many weaknesses in my draft letter 1. For example one of
my weakness was underlining information. I didn t underline the date which lowered the
professionalism look of the letter. Another weakness in my draft 1 letter was placement of the trinity
theatre address and the recipients address. I firstly put them in the wrong place I put the recipients
address and name underneath the trinity theatre logo and the trinity theatre address opposite the logo
on its own. I need to swap them around because it will look better.
Another weakness is that I put a hyper link on the letter which the recipient can t click on because it s
a letter I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also one of my strengths is the context of my paragraphs I think that the information that I talked
about was informative and so the recipient was told everything they needed to know about what was
happing at trinity theatre.
Draft 2
In my letter draft 2 I have fixed the problems in the letter draft 1. Firstly I have underlined the date
now and this made the letter look much better. Next I have swap the placement of the address of the
trinity theatre and the recipients address this is better because the trinity theatre address should be with
the logo so now it looks better. Also I have removed the hyperlink and instead put an email address to
allow the recipient to talk to people at trinity theatre if they needed any help. One thing it did notice
was my grammar, my grammar in the letter isn t great and this will make it hard for the recipient to
understand what I m talking about because my sentences won t make sense.
I have also spread the information of the address and not kept all of the information on one line, this
has made it clear to see and also makes it easier to see where the theatre is from. I have changed the
style of writing in the (dear Mr Smith) part I have changed it to the same style of writing in the
paragraphs which is Calibri (Body) size 11 this has made it a lot better and makes it more
professional.

Foil Characters In The Kite Runner
The character of Hassan is shown to be the symbol of loyalty. He grew up only knowing how to be a
servant and so he only knew how to give his loyalty. When Assef demands the kite, he stands strong
and refuses to give it up. As Amir witnesses the rape, he sees that Hassan has resigned to his fate and
the look in his eyes show that it was the look of the lamb (The Kite Runner, 76). He accepts his fate
because he feels he is only a Hazara and he must do everything he can to please his Pashtun master.
Hassan continues to suffer and no longer puts up a fight, which only places more guilt onto Amir s
shoulders. Even after, Hassan never tells of what occurs to him with Assef, which is just another way
that shows his unwavering devotion as a Hazara. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is characterized with all the contrasting qualities that make up Amir. Amir s confrontation with
Assef is one of the most important scenes in the novel. It is important because it is where he finally
faces the demons he s held at bay and also where he finally confronts the role of his complicity as a
Pashtun over the ethnic discrimination of the Hazaras. Assef portrays his Afghanistan as a beautiful
mansion littered with garbage and says that someone has to take out that garbage (The Kite Runner,
284). As part of the Taliban, that is exactly what he s been doing and he lives for it and the suffering of
the Hazaras. As the roles reverse, under Assef s beating hands, Amir suffers the punishment that he
believed he should have received when he was younger for not defending Hassan. Amongst the pain
of the blows he is dealt, he feels a sense of redemption. He feels he has finally been given atonement
for the sins of his childhood. Even though Amir was to save Sohrab, ironically Hassan s own son is the
one to save him just like Hassan always did before, to give him that true redemption he so

His Opponent Grover Young Case Analysis
Lenroy TNT Thomas now (19 4) makes a statement on front of his hometown crowd at the Bayfront
Hilton in beautiful St Petersburg Florida. You would think that after a 16 month layoff we would see
some ring rust, but that was not evident as Thomas has been traveling the world sparring some the best
in the heavyweight division, with names such as Alexander Povetkin and Luis King Kong Ortiz to
name a few. His Opponent Grover Young (12 21), the only man alive to score a drawl with Sergey
Kovalev, was just the tune up Thomas needed after his Ko loss in the ESPN Boxcino tournament to
Andrey Fedesov. Thomas came out strong using his height and strength advantage over Young. Young

Moises Carasquillo Jr. (9 1) took on Alfonso Black (8 5 1) in his home town. Carasquillo coming off
of a year since his last fight had something to prove to himself, to his fans, and his family. Sitting
ringside I noticed a few differences in Carasquillo this time around. First off his physique was a lot
leaner than previous fights, he had the look in his face that read he was all about business, and he was
punching more in combinations and fighting well off his back foot. Alfonso Black was no Slouch as
he was applying a lot of pressure and throwing hard body shots and straight right. Black was using
great lateral movement, but every time he came in Moises made him pay by throwing short check left
hooks and hard body shots as well. Black took control of the 4th round landing some hard shots and
staying busy. The fight went to the score cards and Carasquillo impressed the judges taking the victory
by unarnimous decision, the scores read 60 54, 59 55x2. On a side note Carasquillo announced that he
is moving his camp to Puerto Rico and hopes to drop down to 154lbs and compete as a Junior

Revenue Neutral and Enhancing Alternative Proposal for...
REVENUE NEUTRAL AND ENHANCING ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL FOR UNETHICAL
TAXATION OF SALARIED INCOME
1.1 INTRODUCTION
In systems governing interactions among entities, the term fair may be a reasonable description of
what is ethical. For example, the prevailing view in the U.S. is that fair treatment of an indigent
individual accused of a crime requires that he or she be provided legal representation in his or her
interactions with the judicial system. Similarly, business related laws and regulations have ethical
dimensions. Thus, while the law may generally consider a 21 year old eligible to enter into business
transactions, society may deem it unethical (or unfair) for a mortgage broker to offer a loan to a native
borrower who is clearly incapable of re paying the loan. As a result, lending regulations (e.g., rules
limiting loans to four times a borrower s annual income) might be established to prevent a loan from
occurring, even though it would otherwise be a legal transaction. In this case, the free market system
would be constrained by regulations favouring the welfare of the borrower over that of the broker,
primarily based on ethical considerations.
Tax systems define the terms under which taxpayers interact with governments. As with other laws
and regulations, such terms may be deemed either fair or unfair under a given standard. The
predominant source of income for millions of U.S. taxpayers is wage, salary, or self employment
income. Thus, tax policies related

Facts About The Best Evidence Rule
The best evidence rule is a rule that applies when someone wants to admit some form of evidence that
is a document but the actual original document is not available for admission. Unfortunately, when
this happen the party that wants to admit the evidence has to give an acceptable excuse to why the
original documents are unavailable or absent. Therefore, the courts has to decide if the excuse is
acceptable and allow the party to use their secondary evidence in order to prove their case or that the
content of the document in order for it to be admissible as evidence in the case. Unlike, any other rule
this rule only applies when a party is trying to prove that all of the content in the document is worthy
of being admitted as evidence if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the U.S. court system implemented this rule but if one party suspects that the copy or
copies have been altered or it s a fraud than this comes into play for that case.
The rationale behind its application was to find the best evidence within a case but due to fraud and
the mishandling of evidence this rule was created. It helps to prevent anyone from trying to mislead or
even lie about a certain piece of evidence. Furthermore, it eliminates anyone from having to guess if in
fact that the evidence is from the actual original copy of if some part of the evidence had been
changed at some point in order to get a guilty or innocent verdict in the case.
After reviewing each the case of Olmstead v. United States, Nardone v. United States, Goldman v.
United States, Berger v. New York and Katz v. United States I have found that each one of these case
dealt with wiretapping and whether it was legal for the police or government to tap into their phone
lines and use the evidence found in tapping in court as evidence in order to get a guilty verdict. For
example, in the case of Olmstead v. United States individuals were convicted of liquor related crimes
to include conspiracy. Now the main person in the conspiracy was the general manager of the business
which was Olmstead. The business had main office was in

Language In Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God
While one may use crippling language to perpetuate endless mental and physical imprisonment upon
others, the utilization and knowledge of language allocates for personal freedom and empowerment.
Through various forms of manipulation language exercises an oppressive force over others.
Throughout history, men have often held authoritative allowing for the degradation and inferiority of
women in the eyes of society. Similar to colonial America in which slaves were viewed as property,
the language of men in Their Eyes Were Watching God emulates similar connotations. Hurston
exhibits the issue of male dominance over females and males need to control females stating [Jody]

Pronouns, while seemingly minute, remain an aspect of language that embraces equality by allowing
for implications of one s speech to denote possession or relationship. Unlike the men Janie previously
married, Tea Cake demonstrates a marriage founded on unity, rather than ownership. Such equality
emerges through his use of the pronoun us, conveniently forgotten by the men of her past, as he offers
a suggestion by stating Janie, us got tuh git outa dis house and outa dis man s town (Hurston 201).
Here, Tea Cake demonstrates his desires as he hopes for Janie to remain united with him. Tea Cake
also acquires the input of his wife by asking questions demonstrating a genuine interest in her
opinions. His approach in speech allows for Janie to counter argue freely as an equal, rather than battle
or fear opposing the opinion of her spouse. Likewise, manipulating injurious language allows one to
experience freedom from persecution by filling old thoughts with new words ... to fit [these

Edgar Allan Poe Alone
Have you ever wondered what it s like to lose your entire family? In the poem Alone written by Edgar
Allan Poe, it tells a story about an adult looking back on his childhood. This poem is a real reflection
of Poe s life and experiences, when he was younger, he lost pretty much his entire family like his
parents, his foster mother and wife died and he was raised by a stern man who was angry about Poe
writing poetry, which as a result he became isolated and secluded. Poe was an American writer and is
best known for his poetry and short stories. The main themes in the poem are isolation and depression.
It can relate to today s youth by being illustrated of one s solitude in general.

This poem has used effective techniques and used themes such as depression and isolation, that most
people forget that it is a big issue. We all need to educate ourselves about depression, it has reached
epidemic proportions and we need to be more aware of the possibility that we may know someone
who is suffering from depression. I hope we can find something that helps and guides us to know the
correct things to say, rather than focusing only on what not to say to someone suffering from this
serious illness, such as helping Poe with his depression. In the end Poe still haven t found what he was
searching for, time has passed and his life will still remain a mystery. He believes something is
preventing him to find it, and that is in the form of a cloud that is standing in the way of him, like a
demon. The poem Alone questions why we are born and what paths we should take as we search for
the mystery of our lives, this is an example that senior students should

Buy Nothing Day Research Paper
Buy Nothing Day is a day in which people are encouraged to not purchase any goods. The first Buy
Nothing Day was in Canada in 1922. Buy Nothing Day is to increase the awareness of excessive
consumerism. Buy Nothing Day could benefit the economy in many ways like; it teaches people what
it is like to not easily buy things, it will make the people appreciate things more, and it saves money.
First, this day could benefit the people because they are learning what it is like to not be able to easily
get the things they need. It will not only help the economy but it will also teach the people
participating how to be more conservative. The people will also learn how it feels to really need
something instead of just wanting it. This is how many people around the world are living, so the
people with so much can easily realize how much they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will learn what it is like for the people who are not as fortunate as we are. They will also have to
learn to find something that they need from what they already own instead of being able to to just go
to the store and buying it. Going out and buying the goods that someone needs should be a gift to
people. They do not know how it feels to live in an underdeveloped country. Buy Nothing Day does
not compare to the thing that some people are going through, but it will teach the people participating
to be a little bit more thankful for what they do have.
Finally, saving money comes as another huge benefit of this day. No one is purchasing anything for a
whole entire day! If no one is spending money than it also gives many revenues around the world a
day to catch up on itself. If people are not spending money that means they can save it for more
imprint things like houses, cars, college and more! Buy Nothing Day is not just about teaching the
people, it is also about them being able to save money to prevent them from struggling in the

Mouse Genotyping
Thus, after some time our strains bred and we recollected pregnant females. They were then
euthanized and we obtained all the embryos at the age of E12.5 and E18.5.
At this step embryo genotyping is required to identify each member of the litter in order to be able to
make future experiments. Mouse genotyping is the process of determining if they express or not a
specific gene. The purpose of this procedure in our case was to obtain purified DNA, amplify Cre and
Fog1 genes by PCR and run an agarose gel to see if the mouse expressed them or not. Control
embryos (littermates of Fog1cKO mutants) were then Cre negative and heterozygous or wild type for
the flox alleles and displayed a similar phenotype to wild type (ICR background) mice. In contrast, ...

dissection, the tail of each mouse was taken in a single Eppendorf for carrying out the genotyping.
Tails were disintegrated with proteinase K treatment (1mg/ml) and put at +56ºC overnight. Next day, a
PCR was performed with the tail preps (see Protocol 1) and we checked PCR products running a 2%
agarose gel (see Protocol 2).
2. Tissue preparation: paraffin sections
The aim of this technique is to embed tissue into wax. Embedding tissue into paraffin blocks supports
the tissue structure and enables to cut very thin sections and mount them onto microscope slides for
posterior staining and analysis. I prepared tissue on paraffin sections for staining. This technique is
divided in different steps, most of them made automatically by a machine:
A. Fixation
Chemical fixatives are used to maintain the structural integrity of the cell and to preserve tissue from
degradation. Their main function is to cross link proteins irreversibly and act as a bacterial killer. In
our case, embryos (E12.5) or embryonic brains were fixed in 4% PFA in 1xPBS (see Buffers and
Solutions) at +4ºC for 1 4 days. We put the embryos in cassettes ordered by numbers. Those samples
will be used for the final project

The Effects Of Victorian Society s Unrealistic...
This source is an essay examining how Wilde shows the impact of Victorian society s unrealistic
expectations of the individual in both The Importance of Being Earnest and The Picture of Dorian
Gray. In the article, she talks about gender roles and societal expectations along with the ways
characters in the play conform to or reject them. Although the essay is written by a student at
McKendree University, the writing is not difficult to understand. This essay is well documented and
seems unbiased. I can use this information when analyzing the ways Wilde challenges Victorian
conventions in my essay. In this article, the author discusses gender roles in The Importance of Being

The source seems credible since the website is published by Yale University. Also, the research does
not seem biased. The author documents Professor Ellis Hanson s interpretations of The Importance of
Being Earnest. Hanson notes that Wilde mocks marriage and satirizes the decay of lying. He also
suggests that Wilde s use of Ernest, which has multiple meanings, can be viewed as a homosexual
double entendre. Hanson s views are novel and interesting. And since he is an English professor at
Cornell University, he is also credible. I hope to use this source to provide more examples of how
Wilde uses his cynicism to criticize elements of Victorian society. According to its description, this
article discusses the way the play depicts power in interpersonal relations. Unfortunately, the article
consists of thirty two pages of scholarly ramblings that have little to do with the actual play. The
contents of the pages cover topics ranging from Oscar Wilde s sexual partners to the psychic origins of
the play. Although this source seems credible since it came from a magazine published by Rutgers
University, I do not think it is relevant to my topic. I doubt I will be using this source when writing my
paper. The source seems credible since it was published by the Cambridge University Press, a
respected university in England. The author also cites research to back up her claims. However, his
article does not relate to the play The Importance of Being

The Role Of Fate In The Convergence Of Twain
Maktub is a recurring motif in the The Alchemist which means it is written. This term originates from
Arabic and it means that Allah has written your destiny and whatever occurs is meant to happen.
Every day was there to be lived or to mark one s departure from his world. Everything depended on
one word: Maktub. (Coelho 112). Your fate and or destiny has been set by someone in greater power.
Whatever occurs, is meant to be and happened for a reason. Whether it s from God, fate or destiny,
history or an individual s genes, determinism plays an enormous role in the Victorian Era. The
Victorian Era was a time in Britain where violence and war was occurring within only 60 years.

Ross C. Murfin describes that, One of the immediately obvious transitions observable in the poetry of
(or after) 1870 is a greater emphasis on Chance than on Fate (Bloom 138). This is not solely based on
Thomas Hardy, but also Leo Tolstoy. Now instead of fate, it is more about chance. The first question
that arises in the folktale is What do men live by? and the answer to this is God. Their lives are
predetermined by God and it can be seen through the character of Michael. Hills J. Miller introduces
that if, He withdraws to a distant place and watches the universe from afar (Bloom 47). Michael is an
angel being punished and every time Michael learns a truth he smiles because he knows it s something
God wanted him to learn. The second truth Michael learned is What dwells in a man? and through
Michael s experiences, he learns that love it self dwells in a man. Lastly, the third truth Michael learns
is What is not given to a man? and the answer that he learns is knowing one s own needs. The
protagonist, Simon, did not have to take Michael in and offer hospitality, but chose to take him in his
own home. It almost appears to be fate that led Michael to return back to heaven, however, Michael
chose to stay with Simon and keep learning what he had to learn to return to heaven. The narrator
says, And when Simon came to himself the hut stood as before, and there was no one in it but his

Electromyography
Electromyography (EMG) is a way of measuring muscle electrical activity and use it in medical
diagnoses which refers to muscle performance. The electric activity generated during muscle
activation, known as the myoelectric signal, is generated from small electrical currents generated by
the exchange of ions across the muscle membranes and detected with the help of surface electrodes
[1]. EMG make us generate force, create movements and allow us to do countless other functions
through which we can interact with the world around us. The EMG is a bioelectric signal which has,
over the years, developed a vast range of applications. Clinically, EMG is being used as diagnostic
tool for neurological disorders. It is frequently being used for assessment of patients with

Alcoholism Addiction And An Addiction Essay
Traditionally speaking, alcoholism is an addiction to consuming alcohol. There are some organizations
and people out there that would combat that widely accepted thought, and consider it a disease over an
addiction. What is the difference between a disease and an addiction? To determine the appropriate
label, both definitions and the actions that give them that specific definition must be examined. There
is a line that separates what is a disease and what is an addiction and there are many different forms of
each. Alcoholism is one that is categorized as both, but often it falls into the category of an addiction.
According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Addiction is characterized by the inability
to consistently Abstain, Impairment in Behavioral control; Craving; or increased hunger for drugs or
rewarding experiences, diminished recognition of significant problems with one s behaviors and
interpersonal relationships; and a dysfunctional emotional response. On the contrary the definition of a
disease, according to Oxford Dictionary, is a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or
plant, especially one that produces specific symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not
simply a direct result of physical injury. Both definitions can greatly relate to what alcoholism is and
as to why it is so closely related to both. Many believe that alcoholism is a disease. Something that

Transferability Skills Analysis
In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current occupational
profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes, work experience and
transferable skills.
Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily equate to them both
becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based upon her/her occupational profile.
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and standardized
testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity information and the National
Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it pertains to the world of work. Testing materials
VRS are qualified to use (if required), usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic
abilities, vocational interest, work style and other aptitudinal profiles. The transferable skills analysis

past performance and achievement. The evaluation process also includes determining vocational

Reflection Of The Camino
The Camino Day 1: We left the College on Saturday, the 6th of May. The flight departed at 11:45 and
we didn t arrive at Biarritz until 2:50. Then we got a bus from the airport to St Jean Pied de Port, a
small village at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains. When we got to St Jean, I was taken aback by the
town. It was a mixture of old streets and building from centuries ago and modern roads and shops. We
had a mass in the local parish before we got to explore the town. It was late by then so most of the
shops were closed, but you still got a feel for the town as we strolled down the narrow streets. A
parade was commencing when we were wandering around that was celebrating the Basque Region s
heritage. They were dressed in their traditional clothes and were waving the Basque flag. I didn t
know about the Basque Region s fight for independence before then but Mr. Mccormack explained it
to me. To greatly simplify it, the citizens of the Basque Region believe they shouldn t be members of
France and Spain because they have their own traditions, customs and lifestyles that oppose those of
the French and Spanish. After exploring the town we returned to the hotel, reflected on the day, ate

Skinny Jeans In The 1950 s
Do you own any pairs of skinny jeans? Do you want to own skinny jeans? Can you fit into skinny
jeans? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may have a serious disorder from love
of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are a form fitting, thigh hugging, narrow legged type of jeans. Now let s
go back time, all the way back to the 1950 s. The term skinny jeans was invented first in the 1800 s by
Levi Strauss. Skinny jeans were another term for a kind of jeans, like Levi s slim fit jeans. Over 100
years later, the brand Levi the name taken from the real jean inventor reinvented the skinny jeans in
the 1950 s. After the reinvented jeans by Levi, skinny jeans were really introduced to the world in old
movies, usually old Western movies. Actors like Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Marilyn Monroe, and
Zorro wore them in their movies during the 50 s. Performers were also a part of the skinny jeans
history. People like Elvis Presley wore them during his concerts in the 1950 s.
Quick! Now let s get going to the 1960 s.
During the 60 s, Elvis was still going strong with the skinny jean trend. During this decade, things in
the jean industry were changing. Women started wearing them to show off their curves, pushing
gender roles.
Now we re fast forwarding to the 1970 s.

Kant On Morality
We will be concerned with Kant s theory on morality and rather or not it is convincing. I will argue
about on how the good will is The only thing that is absolutely good, good in itself and without
qualification, is the good will (pg. 127). All natural virtue, both clever and moral can contribute to
wicked acts. Sometimes we assume that if we are successful in life and happy then that s all we need,
but in order to be successful we need integrity and recognition that can steer us in the direction of
satisfaction. I will argue that Kant s theory on morality is rather very convincing in this paper, how
hypothetical and categorical imperatives are different but a key factor. Likewise, that the principle law
of nature is the core to the categorical

Pursuing Mt. Everest
The High Price of Pursuing Your Mount Everest
What is behind the great lure of Mount Everest? It is as a symbol of ultimate
achievement of climbing to succeed rising to a elevation of few miles higher than
sea level, near the Himalaya scope, on the edge of Tibet, Nepal, and Northern India.
Torrents, chasms, as well as fierce winds have merged, in the company of
exceptional abruptness, along with thin ether, to generate Mt Everest unfavorable to
conquer. Most alpinists approach the mountain from its south side, which seems to
be the easiest side to start with; however, most parties never reach the top. As the

Everest, try to say the words: Never give up!
Remember, you are always just a heartbeat away from your success, (Hongo).
Of course, making your dreams come true does not come without a price; it
can mean getting uncomfortable, and living more deliberately, or intentionally. It
means starting to live your dreams, and stop living the lie, move forward with a new
life of focus and passion; find a sense of purpose in life.
There is no guarantee of success, however, the climbers of the highest mountains in
the world, show that in order to truly excel in one s life, you have to have passion.
You do not have to have a million dollars, a fancy car, or a humongous house
because they cannot replace the inner drive that fuels your passion. Loving what
you do determines true success, and the poorest person in the world, can be far
more successful than the richest, if they are driven by undying passion, which is
what allows you to make your dream comes true.
I strongly believe in never giving up on your dreams. Most individuals
abandon them, not because they want to, yet roughly always either because
somebody is telling them they cannot do something, or more importantly, due to

Describe The Chemical Process In Making Americium
Chemical process in making americium:
The most popular type of smoke alarm is an ionization chamber smoke alarm. These contain 0.28
micrograms of the radioactive isotope americium 241, in the form of americium dioxide. Americium
is a synthetic element, so it must be produced in a nuclear reactor. Americium is made from plutonium
241, yet this needs to also be made in a nuclear reactor. Uranium 238 in a nuclear reactor it is hit with
a neutron, which makes uranium 239. Uranium 239 has a half life of 23.5 minutes, the uranium goes
through beta decay becomes neptunium 239. This neptunium will then form plutonium 239 via beta
decay over two days, this is then bombarded with two neutrons to become plutonium 241. Plutonium
241 has a half life of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has become a social (as well as a government) expectation to have them installed in your home.
Smoke alarms save lives; without a smoke alarm you are 4 times more likely to die in the event of a
fire. The americium inside the alarm is an alpha and low energy gamma emitter. Alpha radiation can
be stopped by a piece of paper or a few centimetres of air, meaning you could stand under a raw
sample of americium and not be in any danger. Yet, gamma radiation has the wavelength near that of
an atomic nuclei (10 Pico meters) meaning that they penetrated far more easily. These rays are weak
enough not to do any harm, yet are the major factor to the radiation from a smoke alarm. It has
become a misconception that smoke alarms are a threat to health because of their radioactivity. The
radiation emitted from a smoke alarm annually is 9 50 nano sieverts, eating banana releases the
equivalent of 100 nano sieverts, the average background radiation in Australia is 2000000 nano
sieverts, to put how little radiation is absorbed from a smoke alarm. The real problem is only when
americium is internalised into the body, because it is an alpha emitter. It poses a threat to health
because even though the alpha particles themselves are harmless, the speeds they travel give them the
ability to break bonds and ionize atoms, thus causing cancer. When in the body 90% stays in you and
the rest is excreted, it goes to the liver, bones and ovaries or testicles where it has the possibility to
cause cancer or birth

Don Quixote Journey
Believe it or not, I was once a legendary knight errant by the name of Don Quixote. I travelled across
the Spanish province of La Mancha with my loyal squire, Sancho Panza, in search of adventures,
beautiful ladies, and princesses to whom I can offer my knightly services. I was a bold and valiant
knight. My greatest and most memorable adventure, perhaps, is my encounter with the giants of the
plains of La Mancha who had thousand of arms. The battle which ensued was so glorious that
whoever hears of it strangely accuses me of being a madman. However, after my forced retirement
from being a knight errant, I fell ill and during my last hour I realized that all my adventures were
indeed hallucinations and my greatest adventure was simply a comical duel between I and windmills.

Female Serial Killer Essay
During the late 18 centuries, society became more aware of serial murders. At first, the term of serial
murder was only referred to men with specific causes and motives that influenced them to commit
such heinous crimes. The main motive to commit homicide was based on sexual fantasies. However,
years later, women did fall into this category of serial murders but defying the main motive that
characterized men serial killers. The misconceptions that that female serial killers do not exits and that
woman s nature does not let the to engaged in such bestial acts have been discarded. Based on

as midwife and employed all to educational and professional workers had commit homicide. Some of
those professional women are nurses, secretaries or work with infants. Based on research, women with
higher education such as college are most likely to engage on serial murders because they are in
constant interaction with defenses people. According to Schurman Kauflin (2000), states their studied
that nearly 1/3 of FSKs were nurse Harrison, et al (2015). This is one of the reasons why older and
people with ill are target by female serial killers because their lack of physical strength motivates
women to demand silent but dangerous power over them. White and Lester (2012) noted, women are
four times more likely than man to drug their victims, as it may be easier for them to subdue their
targets in this way (Harrison, et al (2015). Those women are known as the angels of death because
they used gentle and discrete means of murder such as lethal injections to carry out their execution.
Although, females motives incline more towards children and disabled adults, the age average on their

Education As A Viable Curriculum
Introduction Education evolves to ensure students are receiving the appropriate skills they need when
they graduated high school or choose a career and compete globally in terms of human resources.
Thus, curriculum plays an essential role in equipping these children from elementary up to high school
in the area of their intellectual and social aspect. However, do we have a guaranteed and viable
curriculum to equip these children? Viable Curriculum As established by Marzano, about a guaranteed
viable curriculum is primarily a combination of opportunity to learn and time (2003, p.22).Likewise,
he even emphasized OPT (opportunity to learn) is a strong link in student achievement, considering
OPT give all students the chance to determine the skills used to assess their capabilities in
mathematics (Marzano, 2003). Furthermore, given a viable curriculum should also be matched with
appropriate classroom instruction. However, how do we measure if the instruction given is adequate?
There is a need of a viable grading system to determine the validity of student s learning. Grading
System Students tend to aim high to achieve for academic excellence if there is a visual representation
of their invested time and effort. This serves as the best motivating factor and inspiration of students to
persevere and aim for the best which is the achievement grade. As Wright and Murray stated, grading
system produce a valid measure of learning considering that it constitutes the academic

Illegal Immigrants Should Not Be Trafficked
However, this topic has been very controversial since some Thai authorities do not acknowledge these
Burmese individuals as victims , rather they acknowledge them as individuals who have been illegally
smuggled into Thailand (Gjerdingen 699). This is one of the strongest arguments that Thailand has
over not having a responsibility over those being trafficked into their country, because these people
actually choose to be trafficked rather than by coercion. Trafficked victims are given assistance not
because they choose to be trafficked, but because they were coerced into the system which violates
their rights as free people. There is some truth to this statement, because some individuals are lured
into being trafficked because of their current country s poor economic situation (Gjerdingen 718). If a
person moves to another country willingly and under illegal circumstances then they are no longer
considered as trafficked victims but as illegal immigrants. Therefore they cannot claim the status of
refugee and receive protection and rights. This is the only circumstance in which Thailand would not
have responsibility over the victims, but it is very difficult to distinguish one from the other, that
Thailand might not be able to use this argument as often as it would like. Despite this controversy, it
depicts that under the Morality of State Theory there is possibility that states might have an obligation
to protect victims of human trafficking, if they are given the status as

Essay on Scientific Management
What are the main features of Taylor s approach to Scientific Management and what criticisms have
been made of it? Do firms use scientific management today?
Frederick Winslow Talyor developed a theory called the Scientific Management. It is a theory of
management that analyse and improve work process, aiming to increase labour productivity. Scientific
management methods are used to optimize productivity and simplifying the jobs so that workers could
be trained to perform their task in one best way.
Prior to the development of scientific management, works were performed by skilled craftsmen who
had learned their jobs by apprenticeships and they made their own decisions about how their job was
to be carried out. Scientific management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using a stopwatch, he timed each element for each worker. Identifying and eliminating useless
operations that do not have contribution to the task. He then select the quickest methods discovered in
each element and fit them into a sequence and teach the other workers this sequence, forbidding any
differences. Lastly, add up the times for each element and include allowance for resting, this will be
the quickest and best method for the job. Since, it is the best way all the workers have to practise it.
(Rose, Rational Workmen and Incompetent Managers, 1978)
Designing of tools to suit the work process is important to increase work productivity. Materials,
weight, length of the tool are taken into consideration of designing a better tool. Taylor experiments
with shovel design until he had a design that would allow workers to shovel for several hours straight.
Worker will get tired after working for long hours and productivity will decrease. Hence, study could
determine the number of hours or maximum amount of work a worker can do in a day before fatigue
sets in.
Lastly is labour selection and motivation. Taylor said that every task should be performed by a first
class man for a specific task. First class men should be given a fair day s pay for a fair day s work .
(Rose 1978: 36) First class man can be both born and trained. Workers should go for training and
development courses

Populism And Propaganda
It was not until the waning months of the War that Americans first began to learn about the Holocaust.
As Allied soldiers advanced through Germany, they discovered camps filled with starving
undesirables, primarily Jews, as well as the instruments of death on an industrial scale. This horrifying
discovery gave Americans a kind of moral justification for the war that they sacrificed their labor,
loved ones, and lives in. To a people already shocked numb from the continued and unabating death
and destruction of the previous six years, this uncovering of evil on such a massive scale cemented in
the hearts of the world a desire to prevent such a global injustice from happening again. It is worth

Ever since I can just about remember i have been skiing. It started off at a ski resort by the city I grew

someone was twisting a knife in my gut. Regardless it wasn t any fun and i was worried that i wasn t

Film Analysis Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
As one of the most monumental anniversaries of all time approaches, it is only right that we revisit the
work of one of the most inspirational people of all time. Obviously, this means William Shakespeare,
right? Not quite. Although Shakespeare to some is the godfather of literature, he can also be seen as
the godfather of boredom. That is why it has been decided to review a different type of Shakespearean
play. 400 years ago marks the death of William Shakespeare, and while his worth is still regarded
among older generations, it does not have quite the same effect on the younger. That is until Baz
Luhrmann graced the silver screens with his youthful and lively interpretation of Romeo and Juliet.
The 1996 version set in a modern day America has enraptured and educated a whole new generation
of young people for the past 21 years and promises to continue to stand the test of time. So what
makes Romeo + Juliet so good?
For anyone that has seen this film, it goes without saying that what Baz Luhrmann has created is
stunningly beautiful. With elements such as music, sound and editing, not to mention the mis en scene
that shapes the film and the actors performance to corroborate it, this is not just any ordinary movie.
Romeo + Juliet has the opportunity to transform and take viewers to another world right from the
moment they press play.

Musical improvisation is the creative activity of immediate musical composition, which combines
performance with communication of emotions and instrumental technique as well as spontaneous
response to other musicians. (qtd. From Wikipedia). Chopin used many of his techniques of
improvisations to meet the audience s expectations as well as maintaining the conventions of musical
form. After making his early combined works for piano and orchestra, he didn t compose any
orchestral musics for a while until of his late works of sonatas of the piano and cello. Chopin s
individuality was the advantage of his flexibility of his handling of four bar phrases as a structural

different compositions varying in style and technique including: mazurkas, waltzes, polonaises,

in these types of pieces. And finally, Chopin s études were the basic teachings of his own technique of

Data And Data Analysis Paper
The world is converging toward a critical point in history where the question has to be asked, will
there be enough resources to go around? Populations around the globe are growing and moving out of
poverty towards the consumption based lifestyles of western countries. This means more is needed,
more oil, more water, and more food. These resources are finite, limited, and often wasted. Through
the use of technology and data, these resources can be better utilized. Data and data analysis will allow
these systems to be optimized to produce more and waste less. The goal of this project is to use data
and apply it to the field of plant growth and agriculture. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a data driven
technology that seeks to integrate and connect everyday devices and sensors. This data infrastructure
can be used for a variety of applications such as home automation, industrial manufacturing,

for adolescent substance abuse: Pretreatment to posttreatment outcomes of a randomized clinical trial
comparing multidimensional family therapy and peer group treatment. Journal of Psychoactive Drugs,
36(1).
Abstract. The abstract discusses a randomized clinical trial that has been developed in order to
evaluate a family based therapy and a peer group therapy used with urban, low income, and ethnically
diverse adolescents between the ages 11 15 that have been referred for behavioral problems and
substance abuse. It briefly explains both treatments and how each was administered. The abstract also
discusses that these adolescents and their parents were assessed at intake, then randomly assigned to
either the family based therapy or peer group therapy treatment, and then reassessed six weeks after
intake and again at discharge. Results are briefly discussed in terms of the effectiveness and purpose
of the family based treatment, which was used to reduce risk and promote protective processes in
various domains, as well as reduce adolescent substance use.
Introduction. Drug use in early adolescence can be a determinant for later drug abuse; however,
clinicians are working on trying to stop drug use from progressing by intervening at the early stages of
adolescent drug use. Researchers have identified various risk and protective factors involved with the

The Plan B Pill
As attested by the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo, women
have the right to control the number and timing of their pregnancies. In order to exercise this right,
women throughout the world need access to the different types of contraceptives, as well as to safe
abortion services. While most contraceptives are used as preventative measures prior to or during
intercourse, some methods can be used within a short time after unprotected intercourse or failed use
of birth control, which are usually referred to as emergency contraceptive. Within the last 30 years, a
number of approaches, which seem safe and efficacious, have been developed as this method,
including the popular plan B pill. In 1999 the FDA approved the Plan B pill, which was the first

Characteristics
Axis of Symmetry Axis of symmetry is a line going through a graph that separates the parabola into
two.
The axis of symmetry ia a vertical line through the vertex of the functions graph. The quadratic
function has the axis of symmetry x=h
Example
Every parabola has an axis of symmetry, the line that runs down its center. The line divides the graph
into two perfect halves. In the picture the axis of symmetry is line x=1 Vertex
If a parabola opens upward, it has a lowest point. If a parabola opens downward, it has a highest point.
This lowest or highest point is called the Vertex of a parabola
The standard equation of a parabola is
But the equation for a parabola can also be written in vertex form
Example:
Find the vertex of the parabola.
y = 3x2 + 12x 12
So, the x coordinate of the vertex is:
a = 3 and b = 12.
Substituting in the original equation to get the y coordinate, we get:
y = 3( 2)2 + 12( 2) 12 = 24
So, the vertex of the parabola is at ( 2, 24).

Military Ethics Essay
The ethical problem is roots in the culture, so solve this problem is inevitable. While the alcohol
consumption is part of our social life, the soldiers cannot avoid it. First recommendation is the
maintaining the chain of command. The commander should assign the chain of command if alcohol
related event occurs in order to maintain the continuous leadership in the unit. He or she should give
the temporary authority to the next leader in the chain while the alcohol s effect disappears from the
commander s body. This measurement could prevent lot of previously mentioned negative effect, such
as decision making and using authority while intoxicated or mind altering state. The next
recommendation is important in the lead by example perspective.
The second recommendation is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last recommendation is for the NATO HQ s service members.
Those soldiers who serve for a NATO HQ should get a training about the HDF Values and the NCO
values to understand to maintain the discipline of the HDF and comply the laws and regulations. This
training should consist of law and regulations, army values and code of conduct and the HDF s Code
of Ethics. These recommendations helps to maintain and enhance the profession of arms by obey the
rules and with saving the traditions.
In conclusion, alcohol consuming in duty is an old visible ethical problem in the HDF, but it needs
some steps to reduce the dangerous outcomes to the unit and the civilian connection too. There were
three big topic, the root causes, the effect to the troops and finally the recommendation to take action
correct the problem. The root causes are the lack of regulation. The Hungarian laws reject the alcohol
drinking only in labor safety aspect; they do not rule the leadership aspect of the mind altering
substances. The other root cause is the operational area, in

Teen Drinking Essay
The average American begins drinking at 15 years old, despite the fact that the legal drinking age in
the United States is 21 years old. Underage alcohol use is more likely to kill young people than all
illicit drugs combined. I believe that raising the drinking age to 25 years old can save many young
lives.
Affects of Adolescent Drinking Adolescent drinking affects a child s mind, body and future.
Adolescence is the between childhood and adulthood. During this time alcohol use may interrupt brain
development. Hippocampus, the part of the brain important forfvb fg learning and memory has been
proven to be smaller in people that have started drinking in a young age. In a recent study where short

The condition, delirium tremens, known primarily to heavy drinkers, causes hallucinations along with
loss of control of muscular functioning. When this condition develops and the alcoholic slows their
drinking, withdrawal syndrome can and usually does. This may include agitation, tremors, seizures,
and hallucinations.
Social Consequences Car crashes are the leading cause of death among youth ages 15 to 20 years old.
Adolescents already are at a high risk being inexperienced drivers. Drivers younger that 21 are more
likely to have alcohol induced impairment of driving skills than older drivers. The rate of fatal crashes
among alcohol involved drivers between 16 23 is more than twice the rate for alcohol involved drivers
24 and older. Sexual assault, including rape, occurs mostly with women in late in late teens and early
twenties, usually with a date. In a survey, approximately 10 percent of female high school students
reported having been raped. Research suggests that alcohol use by the offender, the victim, or both,
increases the likelihood of sexual assault by a male.
Adolescent alcohol use with high–risk sex (having multiple sexual partners and not using any
condoms) produces serious outcome. The consequences of high–risk sex also are common in this age
group, particularly unwanted pregnancy and

Designing Your Own Computer For A Computer
There are various steps that go into building your own computer, this guide is designed to help even
the least computer savvy people in building their own machines. Building a computer from scratch
gives you the perfect machine that you have always desired, it allows you to modify and build a
computer that suits your needs best. It is always a less expensive option, rather than spending a fortune
on pre built machines which sooner or later do require major upgrades.
There s a rush that you get when you press the power button for the first time on a new computer. The
quiet blow of the fans, the reassuring beeps, and the glow of a monitor all signal the completion of
another successful build. That feeling of unknown and anticipation is one ... Show more content on

Intel and AMD are one of the leading brands that manufacture processors choose the processor that
has speed but also account for power usage and cooling requirements.
3. Motherboard. The motherboard acts as the torso to the brain (CPU) of the computer. The
motherboard is used to connect all the internal components of the computer to each other to make a
well functioning machine. Different processors have different kinds of socket sizes and only work
with the motherboards that support those sizes. The choice of your motherboard will depend on what
processor you have, how much space you need on your machine, the size of your case, how much
memory you are going to require, if you need a high end graphic card and how often will you upgrade
your machine.
4. Random Access Memory card (RAM). RAM is where the programs on your computer will store the
information they require to run. High end games and graphics require more RAM memory. If you do
not have enough RAM your programs will run slower than they should. A very important note while
installing RAM is that it should always be installed in matching pairs, for example if you want your
machine to have 8GB of RAM then install two 4GB sticks.
5. Hard Drive. Selecting a hard drive is a matter of personal opinion; your hard drive will store all
your personal programs, your operating system, and all of your data. So try and select a hard drive
according to the how much space

Boko Haram Is A Terrorist Extremist Group
Introduction
Boko Haram is a terrorist extremist group that fights against Christianity. Their goal is to turn the
world into Islam believers. Right now they have focused on Africa, Nigeria in particular. In order to
do this, they have taken over towns, stolen girls from schools and brought terror to Nigeria. Boko
Haram promotes a version of Islam which makes it haram , or forbidden, for Muslims to take part in
any political or social activity associated with Western society. This includes voting in elections,
wearing shirts and trousers or receiving a secular education. Boko Haram regards the Nigerian state as
being run by non believers, even when the country had a Muslim president and it has extended its
military campaign by targeting neighbouring states.

The Jacob Wetterling Sexually Violent Offender...
Background/ History Before Megan s law there was The Jacob Wetterling sexually violent offender
registration act. Under this act it meant that all violent sex offenders will have to register and the
police will be informed when they are release also. Now we move forward couple of years 1996 when
the Megan s Law was passed. The difference between these two the Jacob Wetterling sexually violent
offender registration act and Megans Law is that the act focus on the high risk offender having to
register once they get out of prison. When you look at Megan s law it has to do with that and also
adding community notification. Megan s Law was named after a seven year old girl from New Jersey
Megan Nicole Kanka. On July 29, 1994 she was invited by a neighbor to see his puppy. He was a
twice convicted pedophile; he sexually assaulted and murdered her. Due to the brutality of the crime
that was done to Megan it mandate registration of sex offenders and corresponding community
notification. Now what are the details of Megan s laws? Require states to have convicted sex offenders
who are no longer incarcerated to register where they live to the police of that town. In an article
Megan s Law assessing the practical and monetary efficacy written by Kristen Zgoiba the two main
elements are registration and notification. Megan s Law allows the states to establish criteria for
private and personal information on registered sexy officer to be available to the public. (Zgoba,

Head injury is defined as any shock to the head received in the skull, whatever its violence. Head
injuries are very common. But those severe (brain damage) are rare and represent the first cause of
death among 15 25 year olds. Head injuries are classified into 3 groups (low, moderate, severe) and
require a different medical care.

The epidural hematoma is a collection of blood between the dura and the skull. He sits very often

Sigmund Freud And The Grinch
Sigmund Freud who was an Austrian neurologist believes that personality consists of three interacting
structures: the id, the ego, and the superego. The Grinch was a very angry person, he had
demonstrated so much aggression towards the who s which lead to the destruction of the who s
Christmas. The fact that his desire was to ruin the who s Christmas proves that he is a heartless human
being. The id demands immediate satisfaction and when this happens we experience pleasure, when it
is denied we experience pain. The Grinch has had a rough childhood. As a child he did not fit in,
because of his looks, as he was just different from others. His miserable childhood is the true cause of
his aggression. This is where his id takes over. The Grinch

Capitalism Essay
Capitalism
Throughout my duration in college, business has been my major area of concentration. Capitalism is
the most central and consequential topic which has to do with business. The ideals of capitalism, over
time, have faced much scrutiny. Many great minds within the past two centuries have discredited
capitalism, for the virtues of socialism and the whole of society. It is my intent to put forth a moral
justification of the ideals behind capitalism. Ayn Rand said The moral justification of capitalism does
not lie in the altruist claim that it represents the best way to achieve the common good .
It is true that capitalism does, if that catch phrase has any meaning, but this is merely a secondary ...

Assuming that consumers are most concerned with their own self interest, the demand for goods that
are the most useful or helpful for society will arise. Assuming, also, that producers are most concerned
with their own self interest, they will further their own cause by striving to produce those goods which
will be the most useful to society at the lowest possible cost. Many economists have debated that
capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts,
instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under
capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other
thinkers do not.
They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are
innovative to their field. Everyone is able to begin a business, raise money, and market his own
product in a free market, and each individual thinker is free to use his own ideas, and his success or
failure is based on the merits of his own idea. The successful thinker brings improved and new
products at a lower cost which creates economic advance and opulence. In order to fully understand
capitalism, we must have some understanding of other politico economic systems. Socialism is a
theory of social organization that advocates the ownership and control of industry,

Theme Of Friendship In The Outsiders
A Story About Friendship, Courage, and Empathy The functions of intellect are insufficient and
useless if you are without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy, says a quote by Dean
Koontz. Throughout S.E. Hinton s book The Outsiders, there are many themes that she conveys in the
book as she narrates the experiences of a greaser named Ponyboy who is a member of the Social
group (Socs). Ponyboy meets many people and witnesses many difficult situations throughout the
book. This inspirational book teaches the reader crucial lessons that are very important for everyone,
even if their lives are not anything like Ponyboy s. Three important themes in the book include
friendship, courage and empathy. Friendship is mandatory to be able to trust and rely on one another.
Hinton writes about troubles that Ponyboy goes through and how his friends have a great impact on
these experiences. For example, Johnny killed Bob who was a member of the Socs, because he saw
that Bob along with other Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy. He knew that he d be in trouble, and he
could have just left then and there. Instead, he killed Bob because they were hurting Ponyboy. Another
situation where the author shows the theme of friendship is when Ponyboy got jumped and his whole
gang came to help him. They were always ready to help a member of their group. Also, the situation
when the church was on fire and Dally went to try and save Johnny, shows friendship as well. In
chapter 6, Jerry, who Ponyboy thinks is one of the school s teachers, says, We think the towheaded kid
is going to be all right. He burned one arm pretty badly, though, trying to drag the other kid out of the
window, (pg. 95). This tells us that Dally, who at first wouldn t help the children in the church, helped
Johnny get out because he was his friend and he cared about him. This shows how Dally demonstrates
his friendship. Courage is crucial to be able to overcome obstacles and help others. Courage is a big
theme in The Outsiders. For example, Ponyboy showed a lot of courage when he decided to fight in
the rumble. He wasn t in good shape as he had lost weight and was very tense. However, he fought in
the rumble regardless to show his gang that he

The Problem Of Reproducing High Dynamic Range
1 ABSTRACT The problem of reproducing high dynamic range images on devices with restricted
dynamic range has gained a lot of interest in the computer graphics community. In this paper, new
adjustment tone mapping method is presented for displaying high dynamic range image on low
dynamic range device without any lose in image details and preserves image contrast. Instead of
linearly scaling the luminance of all pixels or introduce local gamma correction with adaptive
parameters for all pixels, the paper core idea is using linear operator in specific pixels and using
nonlinear operator in another pixels according to guidance map. The optimal compression can finally
be achieved by solving the optimization problem that integrates all window based constraints which
can be transformed to a sparse linear equation. 2 INTRODUCTION High dynamic range is a digital
photography technique that collect multiple exposures of the same scene where captured with different
exposure settings and merged using image editing camera software to create a more realistic image
called HDR images. The dynamic range of a scene, image or imaging device is defined as the ratio of
the highest to the lowest luminance or signal level. High dynamic range image can capture great
dynamic rage that represents the whole tonal range of real world scenes. HDR image is encoded in a
format that allows the largest range of values using floating point values stored with 32 bits per color
channel, but the modern

  • 2. Evaluation Of The Drafting Process Evaluation The Drafting Process Draft 1 Weaknesses After I printed off my Draft letter 1 I notice many weaknesses in my draft letter 1. For example one of my weakness was underlining information. I didn t underline the date which lowered the professionalism look of the letter. Another weakness in my draft 1 letter was placement of the trinity theatre address and the recipients address. I firstly put them in the wrong place I put the recipients address and name underneath the trinity theatre logo and the trinity theatre address opposite the logo on its own. I need to swap them around because it will look better. Another weakness is that I put a hyper link on the letter which the recipient can t click on because it s a letter I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also one of my strengths is the context of my paragraphs I think that the information that I talked about was informative and so the recipient was told everything they needed to know about what was happing at trinity theatre. Draft 2 In my letter draft 2 I have fixed the problems in the letter draft 1. Firstly I have underlined the date now and this made the letter look much better. Next I have swap the placement of the address of the trinity theatre and the recipients address this is better because the trinity theatre address should be with the logo so now it looks better. Also I have removed the hyperlink and instead put an email address to allow the recipient to talk to people at trinity theatre if they needed any help. One thing it did notice was my grammar, my grammar in the letter isn t great and this will make it hard for the recipient to understand what I m talking about because my sentences won t make sense. I have also spread the information of the address and not kept all of the information on one line, this has made it clear to see and also makes it easier to see where the theatre is from. I have changed the style of writing in the (dear Mr Smith) part I have changed it to the same style of writing in the paragraphs which is Calibri (Body) size 11 this has made it a lot better and makes it more professional. • 3. Foil Characters In The Kite Runner The character of Hassan is shown to be the symbol of loyalty. He grew up only knowing how to be a servant and so he only knew how to give his loyalty. When Assef demands the kite, he stands strong and refuses to give it up. As Amir witnesses the rape, he sees that Hassan has resigned to his fate and the look in his eyes show that it was the look of the lamb (The Kite Runner, 76). He accepts his fate because he feels he is only a Hazara and he must do everything he can to please his Pashtun master. Hassan continues to suffer and no longer puts up a fight, which only places more guilt onto Amir s shoulders. Even after, Hassan never tells of what occurs to him with Assef, which is just another way that shows his unwavering devotion as a Hazara. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is characterized with all the contrasting qualities that make up Amir. Amir s confrontation with Assef is one of the most important scenes in the novel. It is important because it is where he finally faces the demons he s held at bay and also where he finally confronts the role of his complicity as a Pashtun over the ethnic discrimination of the Hazaras. Assef portrays his Afghanistan as a beautiful mansion littered with garbage and says that someone has to take out that garbage (The Kite Runner, 284). As part of the Taliban, that is exactly what he s been doing and he lives for it and the suffering of the Hazaras. As the roles reverse, under Assef s beating hands, Amir suffers the punishment that he believed he should have received when he was younger for not defending Hassan. Amongst the pain of the blows he is dealt, he feels a sense of redemption. He feels he has finally been given atonement for the sins of his childhood. Even though Amir was to save Sohrab, ironically Hassan s own son is the one to save him just like Hassan always did before, to give him that true redemption he so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You would think that after a 16 month layoff we would see some ring rust, but that was not evident as Thomas has been traveling the world sparring some the best in the heavyweight division, with names such as Alexander Povetkin and Luis King Kong Ortiz to name a few. His Opponent Grover Young (12 21), the only man alive to score a drawl with Sergey Kovalev, was just the tune up Thomas needed after his Ko loss in the ESPN Boxcino tournament to Andrey Fedesov. Thomas came out strong using his height and strength advantage over Young. Moises Carasquillo Jr. (9 1) took on Alfonso Black (8 5 1) in his home town. Carasquillo coming off of a year since his last fight had something to prove to himself, to his fans, and his family. Sitting ringside I noticed a few differences in Carasquillo this time around. First off his physique was a lot leaner than previous fights, he had the look in his face that read he was all about business, and he was punching more in combinations and fighting well off his back foot. Alfonso Black was no Slouch as he was applying a lot of pressure and throwing hard body shots and straight right. Black was using great lateral movement, but every time he came in Moises made him pay by throwing short check left hooks and hard body shots as well. Black took control of the 4th round landing some hard shots and staying busy. The fight went to the score cards and Carasquillo impressed the judges taking the victory by unarnimous decision, the scores read 60 54, 59 55x2. On a side note Carasquillo announced that he is moving his camp to Puerto Rico and hopes to drop down to 154lbs and compete as a Junior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Revenue Neutral and Enhancing Alternative Proposal for... REVENUE NEUTRAL AND ENHANCING ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL FOR UNETHICAL TAXATION OF SALARIED INCOME 1.1 INTRODUCTION In systems governing interactions among entities, the term fair may be a reasonable description of what is ethical. For example, the prevailing view in the U.S. is that fair treatment of an indigent individual accused of a crime requires that he or she be provided legal representation in his or her interactions with the judicial system. Similarly, business related laws and regulations have ethical dimensions. Thus, while the law may generally consider a 21 year old eligible to enter into business transactions, society may deem it unethical (or unfair) for a mortgage broker to offer a loan to a native borrower who is clearly incapable of re paying the loan. As a result, lending regulations (e.g., rules limiting loans to four times a borrower s annual income) might be established to prevent a loan from occurring, even though it would otherwise be a legal transaction. In this case, the free market system would be constrained by regulations favouring the welfare of the borrower over that of the broker, primarily based on ethical considerations. Tax systems define the terms under which taxpayers interact with governments. As with other laws and regulations, such terms may be deemed either fair or unfair under a given standard. The predominant source of income for millions of U.S. taxpayers is wage, salary, or self employment income. Thus, tax policies related ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Facts About The Best Evidence Rule The best evidence rule is a rule that applies when someone wants to admit some form of evidence that is a document but the actual original document is not available for admission. Unfortunately, when this happen the party that wants to admit the evidence has to give an acceptable excuse to why the original documents are unavailable or absent. Therefore, the courts has to decide if the excuse is acceptable and allow the party to use their secondary evidence in order to prove their case or that the content of the document in order for it to be admissible as evidence in the case. Therefore, the U.S. court system implemented this rule but if one party suspects that the copy or copies have been altered or it s a fraud than this comes into play for that case. It helps to prevent anyone from trying to mislead or even lie about a certain piece of evidence. Furthermore, it eliminates anyone from having to guess if in fact that the evidence is from the actual original copy of if some part of the evidence had been changed at some point in order to get a guilty or innocent verdict in the case. In the poem Alone written by Edgar Allan Poe, it tells a story about an adult looking back on his childhood. This poem is a real reflection of Poe s life and experiences, when he was younger, he lost pretty much his entire family like his parents, his foster mother and wife died and he was raised by a stern man who was angry about Poe writing poetry, which as a result he became isolated and secluded. I hope we can find something that helps and guides us to know the correct things to say, rather than focusing only on what not to say to someone suffering from this serious illness, such as helping Poe with his depression. Buy Nothing Day is to increase the awareness of excessive consumerism. Buy Nothing Day could benefit the economy in many ways like; it teaches people what it is like to not easily buy things, it will make the people appreciate things more, and it saves money. First, this day could benefit the people because they are learning what it is like to not be able to easily get the things they need. It will not only help the economy but it will also teach the people participating how to be more conservative. At this step embryo genotyping is required to identify each member of the litter in order to be able to make future experiments. Mouse genotyping is the process of determining if they express or not a specific gene. The purpose of this procedure in our case was to obtain purified DNA, amplify Cre and Fog1 genes by PCR and run an agarose gel to see if the mouse expressed them or not. Although the essay is written by a student at McKendree University, the writing is not difficult to understand. This essay is well documented and seems unbiased. The author documents Professor Ellis Hanson s interpretations of The Importance of Being Earnest. Hanson notes that Wilde mocks marriage and satirizes the decay of lying. He also suggests that Wilde s use of Ernest, which has multiple meanings, can be viewed as a homosexual double entendre. Hanson s views are novel and interesting. And since he is an English professor at Cornell University, he is also credible. I hope to use this source to provide more examples of how Wilde uses his cynicism to criticize elements of Victorian society. This term originates from Arabic and it means that Allah has written your destiny and whatever occurs is meant to happen. Every day was there to be lived or to mark one s departure from his world. Everything depended on one word: Maktub. (Coelho 112). Your fate and or destiny has been set by someone in greater power. Whatever occurs, is meant to be and happened for a reason. This is not solely based on Thomas Hardy, but also Leo Tolstoy. Now instead of fate, it is more about chance. The first question that arises in the folktale is What do men live by? and the answer to this is God. Their lives are predetermined by God and it can be seen through the character of Michael. Hills J. Miller introduces that if, He withdraws to a distant place and watches the universe from afar (Bloom 47). Michael is an angel being punished and every time Michael learns a truth he smiles because he knows it s something God wanted him to learn. The second truth Michael learned is What dwells in a man? and through Michael s experiences, he learns that love it self dwells in a man. Lastly, the third truth Michael learns is What is not given to a man? and the answer that he learns is knowing one s own needs. The protagonist, Simon, did not have to take Michael in and offer hospitality, but chose to take him in his own home. The electric activity generated during muscle activation, known as the myoelectric signal, is generated from small electrical currents generated by the exchange of ions across the muscle membranes and detected with the help of surface electrodes [1]. EMG make us generate force, create movements and allow us to do countless other functions through which we can interact with the world around us. The EMG is a bioelectric signal which has, over the years, developed a vast range of applications. Clinically, EMG is being used as diagnostic tool for neurological disorders. • 15. Alcoholism Addiction And An Addiction Essay Traditionally speaking, alcoholism is an addiction to consuming alcohol. There are some organizations and people out there that would combat that widely accepted thought, and consider it a disease over an addiction. What is the difference between a disease and an addiction? To determine the appropriate label, both definitions and the actions that give them that specific definition must be examined. There is a line that separates what is a disease and what is an addiction and there are many different forms of each. Alcoholism is one that is categorized as both, but often it falls into the category of an addiction. According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Addiction is characterized by the inability to consistently Abstain, Impairment in Behavioral control; Craving; or increased hunger for drugs or rewarding experiences, diminished recognition of significant problems with one s behaviors and interpersonal relationships; and a dysfunctional emotional response. On the contrary the definition of a disease, according to Oxford Dictionary, is a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury. It was a mixture of old streets and building from centuries ago and modern roads and shops. We had a mass in the local parish before we got to explore the town. It was late by then so most of the shops were closed, but you still got a feel for the town as we strolled down the narrow streets. Americium is made from plutonium 241, yet this needs to also be made in a nuclear reactor. Uranium 238 in a nuclear reactor it is hit with a neutron, which makes uranium 239. Uranium 239 has a half life of 23.5 minutes, the uranium goes through beta decay becomes neptunium 239. Smoke alarms save lives; without a smoke alarm you are 4 times more likely to die in the event of a fire. The americium inside the alarm is an alpha and low energy gamma emitter. Alpha radiation can be stopped by a piece of paper or a few centimetres of air, meaning you could stand under a raw sample of americium and not be in any danger. Yet, gamma radiation has the wavelength near that of an atomic nuclei (10 Pico meters) meaning that they penetrated far more easily. These rays are weak enough not to do any harm, yet are the major factor to the radiation from a smoke alarm. It has become a misconception that smoke alarms are a threat to health because of their radioactivity. The radiation emitted from a smoke alarm annually is 9 50 nano sieverts, eating banana releases the equivalent of 100 nano sieverts, the average background radiation in Australia is 2000000 nano sieverts, to put how little radiation is absorbed from a smoke alarm. The real problem is only when americium is internalised into the body, because it is an alpha emitter. It poses a threat to health because even though the alpha particles themselves are harmless, the speeds they travel give them the ability to break bonds and ionize atoms, thus causing cancer. Thus, curriculum plays an essential role in equipping these children from elementary up to high school in the area of their intellectual and social aspect. However, do we have a guaranteed and viable curriculum to equip these children? Illegal Immigrants Should Not Be Trafficked However, this topic has been very controversial since some Thai authorities do not acknowledge these Burmese individuals as victims , rather they acknowledge them as individuals who have been illegally smuggled into Thailand (Gjerdingen 699). This is one of the strongest arguments that Thailand has over not having a responsibility over those being trafficked into their country, because these people actually choose to be trafficked rather than by coercion. Trafficked victims are given assistance not because they choose to be trafficked, but because they were coerced into the system which violates their rights as free people. There is some truth to this statement, because some individuals are lured into being trafficked because of their current country s poor economic situation (Gjerdingen 718). If a person moves to another country willingly and under illegal circumstances then they are no longer considered as trafficked victims but as illegal immigrants. Therefore they cannot claim the status of refugee and receive protection and rights. This is the only circumstance in which Thailand would not have responsibility over the victims, but it is very difficult to distinguish one from the other, that Thailand might not be able to use this argument as often as it would like. Scientific management methods are used to optimize productivity and simplifying the jobs so that workers could be trained to perform their task in one best way. Lastly, add up the times for each element and include allowance for resting, this will be the quickest and best method for the job. Since, it is the best way all the workers have to practise it. (Rose, Rational Workmen and Incompetent Managers, 1978) Designing of tools to suit the work process is important to increase work productivity. Materials, weight, length of the tool are taken into consideration of designing a better tool. Taylor experiments with shovel design until he had a design that would allow workers to shovel for several hours straight. Worker will get tired after working for long hours and productivity will decrease. The plan B pill was developed by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, in which the Women s Capital Corporation (WCC), a privately controlled company, organized in 1997, collaborated to introduce Plan B to the U.S. and Canadian industries, and to develop other needed reproductive health products for women. WCC s efforts to promote and sell Plan B exemplified a contemporary public/private sector partnership in areas such as health products for women. Initially, Plan B was only available by prescription through Planned Parenthood clinics and other health care providers listed on the 24 hour Emergency Contraception Hotline, as well as the Emergency ... • 39. Vodka Memories of My Past I have come to the conclusion that the past, which is merciless and perilous, is a foreign country, and it cannot be altered. The past lives differently from the present, just as the future will live differently from the very moment you begin to breathe air. Yet somewhere in the back of my mind is this obsession. Whether this obsession has been drawn from the idea that my future will stay the same as this exact moment is speculation, which I shall ignore till the day I die. The other day I was looking at a ship, now in dreams ships can be glorious and beautiful or they can hold every shattered dream. You can watch them sail away with distain, or pleasure. It s been long told that if you see a ship in the distance, all of your dreams and aspirations sit staring back at you. But the ships already gone you can t chase those dreams as you can in the movies, when the girl runs after the train, praying that the man will see and get off. I have a single packet of cigarettes, sitting in the middle of an empty room. Yes, they are for emergencies. That one moment that I feel myself break and I mean truly break, I shall rush to this room, and smoke a single, savoured cigarette that will clear all my urges. That single cigarette is my fresh start, turning over the page, and getting ready to stain the whiteness with a tea stain, ringing the corner, and destroying the purity. I know a woman, a tearful, crying woman. I visit her every morning, at 7:34 exactly. I had told of her of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As an active member of the committee, my colleagues and I were tasked with promoting collaboration amongst the subcontractors. While hosting a variety of events successfully boosted morale throughout the office, the committee agreed that we should do more. As it was the holiday season, we decided to display a giving tree in the office which had ornaments hanging on it with different items requested by families in need currently staying at the Heartly House. Located in Frederick, Maryland, the Heartly House provides comprehensive services for victims and survivors of domestic violence. The tree was a great success. In just four short weeks, the employees from all of the subcontractors united and purchased every item on the tree. Quadratic Formulas Characteristics Axis of Symmetry Axis of symmetry is a line going through a graph that separates the parabola into two. The axis of symmetry ia a vertical line through the vertex of the functions graph. The quadratic function has the axis of symmetry x=h Example Every parabola has an axis of symmetry, the line that runs down its center. The line divides the graph into two perfect halves. In the picture the axis of symmetry is line x=1 Vertex If a parabola opens upward, it has a lowest point. If a parabola opens downward, it has a highest point. This lowest or highest point is called the Vertex of a parabola The standard equation of a parabola is But the equation for a parabola can also be written in vertex form Example: Find the vertex of the parabola. y = 3x2 + 12x 12 So, the x coordinate of the vertex is: a = 3 and b = 12. Substituting in the original equation to get the y coordinate, we get: y = 3( 2)2 + 12( 2) 12 = 24 So, the vertex of the parabola is at ( 2, 24).

First recommendation is the maintaining the chain of command. The commander should assign the chain of command if alcohol related event occurs in order to maintain the continuous leadership in the unit. He or she should give the temporary authority to the next leader in the chain while the alcohol s effect disappears from the commander s body. Capitalism is the most central and consequential topic which has to do with business. The ideals of capitalism, over time, have faced much scrutiny. Many great minds within the past two centuries have discredited capitalism, for the virtues of socialism and the whole of society. It is my intent to put forth a moral justification of the ideals behind capitalism. Assuming that consumers are most concerned with their own self interest, the demand for goods that are the most useful or helpful for society will arise. Assuming, also, that producers are most concerned with their own self interest, they will further their own cause by striving to produce those goods which will be the most useful to society at the lowest possible cost. Many economists have debated that capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts, instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other thinkers do not. They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are innovative to their field. Everyone is able to begin a business, raise money, and market his own product in a free market, and each individual thinker is free to use his own ideas, and his success or failure is based on the merits of his own idea. • 51. Theme Of Friendship In The Outsiders A Story About Friendship, Courage, and Empathy The functions of intellect are insufficient and useless if you are without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy, says a quote by Dean Koontz. Throughout S.E. Hinton s book The Outsiders, there are many themes that she conveys in the book as she narrates the experiences of a greaser named Ponyboy who is a member of the Social group (Socs). Ponyboy meets many people and witnesses many difficult situations throughout the book. This inspirational book teaches the reader crucial lessons that are very important for everyone, even if their lives are not anything like Ponyboy s. Three important themes in the book include friendship, courage and empathy. Friendship is mandatory to be able to trust and rely on one another. Hinton writes about troubles that Ponyboy goes through and how his friends have a great impact on these experiences. For example, Johnny killed Bob who was a member of the Socs, because he saw that Bob along with other Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy. He knew that he d be in trouble, and he could have just left then and there. Instead, he killed Bob because they were hurting Ponyboy. Another situation where the author shows the theme of friendship is when Ponyboy got jumped and his whole gang came to help him. They were always ready to help a member of their group. Also, the situation when the church was on fire and Dally went to try and save Johnny, shows friendship as well. In chapter 6, Jerry, who Ponyboy thinks is one of the school s teachers, says, We think the towheaded kid is going to be all right. He burned one arm pretty badly, though, trying to drag the other kid out of the window, (pg. 95). This tells us that Dally, who at first wouldn t help the children in the church, helped Johnny get out because he was his friend and he cared about him. This shows how Dally demonstrates his friendship. Courage is crucial to be able to overcome obstacles and help others. Courage is a big theme in The Outsiders. For example, Ponyboy showed a lot of courage when he decided to fight in the rumble. He wasn t in good shape as he had lost weight and was very tense. However, he fought in the rumble regardless to show his gang that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Problem Of Reproducing High Dynamic Range 1 ABSTRACT The problem of reproducing high dynamic range images on devices with restricted dynamic range has gained a lot of interest in the computer graphics community. In this paper, new adjustment tone mapping method is presented for displaying high dynamic range image on low dynamic range device without any lose in image details and preserves image contrast. Instead of linearly scaling the luminance of all pixels or introduce local gamma correction with adaptive parameters for all pixels, the paper core idea is using linear operator in specific pixels and using nonlinear operator in another pixels according to guidance map. The optimal compression can finally be achieved by solving the optimization problem that integrates all window based constraints which can be transformed to a sparse linear equation. 2 INTRODUCTION High dynamic range is a digital photography technique that collect multiple exposures of the same scene where captured with different exposure settings and merged using image editing camera software to create a more realistic image called HDR images. The dynamic range of a scene, image or imaging device is defined as the ratio of the highest to the lowest luminance or signal level. High dynamic range image can capture great dynamic rage that represents the whole tonal range of real world scenes. HDR image is encoded in a format that allows the largest range of values using floating point values stored with 32 bits per color channel, but the modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
