In Another Country Essay
The short story in another country is about patriotism, a term which rudimentarily means: deep love to
one s own country. It is, however, just a part of a greater concept, love, which manifests itself,
throughout the story, in different forms; love to a friend, love to a spouse and even to one s own
country. When we are first exposed to the story, with the vivid imaginary of the weather, we feel how
cold it is, and how warm are the `roasted chestnuts that we actually desire some. Moreover, it is very
delightful to share the experience of the speaker when `the electric lights came on, and it was pleasant
along the streets looking in the windows . To ponder over the captioned imaginary, we will discover
that it refers to human life in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of the speaker, the medals he has been awarded have nothing to do patriotism because `[he]
had been given the medals because [he] was [merely] an American. This is why he and his fellow
soldiers were `drifted apart they know that such medals should have only been given to those who
sacrifice themselves in order to save their own country, not because they are merely from another one,
thus they will not have any passion toward the country they are put in to fight in spite the fact that they
may be placed in the front lines and, accordingly, fight gallantly. The `boy who had been wounded his
first day at the front is still in good terms with the speaker since the latter likes him because `perhaps
he would not have turned out to be a hawk either [like me] this implies that the speaker does not want
to bother himself fighting for another country and since the boy, as he thinks, resembles him, he keeps
his relationship with him. While using the medical

Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Summary
In Abraham Lincoln s second inaugural address, he begins voicing that there is no need for him to
have such an extended address just as he did the first time. Before his four years in office, there was
that necessary detail of what he felt must be pursued, but now he feels as though there is still yet to be
pursued as he had wished before. The public knows as much as himself when it comes to the
progression of the military, and he believes is satisfactory with entailing of high hopes for the future.
He proceeds to express that he had made his first address with the anxious view of civil war.
Americans wanted to avoid the war as much as possible but while his address was on saving the union
without conflict there were those who were planning to destroy it. Both political party s views
disapproved war, but one party would risk a nation to avoid war whereas the other party would not. ...

and the South and it is an offense that originated from the offense of slavery. Yes, Americans shall
hope and pray for the war to pass by speedily, but if it does not and it prolongs until we can bear it no

Prison Management Styles
Management Styles
Raechellee Noland
American Intercontinental University
Abstract
Organizations and businesses alike all have managers and management styles that they abide by. Some
may be company policy; while others seem to be implemented by the manager s themselves. In this
paper, three different management styles are explained; Scientific, human relations, and systems
management styles. All have been used in different organizations, and some are still used today. In
order for a business to effectively succeed in their goals, a certain management style needs to be used.
Management Styles The key to making any kind of business work depends on management and how
management or managers manage the companies they work for. There ... Show more content on

In the end, one department would be great, while all the others were different and didn t sync well
with the others.
Most Effective and Disadvantages In order for today s criminal justice system to work correctly, the
best management theory would be the systems theory. The criminal justice system needs to have a
structured and organized system in order to make things work, the systems management theory
focuses on the overall goals of the departments as a whole, rather than focusing just on one goal for
each department. Criminal justice is a system; there are several different parts that need to work
together in order for it to work. This would include all components, such as the courts, police, and
corrections. They all need to be on the same page in order to keep the balance between the three and
avoid chaos. A disadvantage of scientific management in criminal justice was that the style focused
more on the production and the needs of the organizations over caring for the needs and wants of the
employees. The disadvantages of the human relations theory, was that is focused too much on the
employees. With too much focus on the employees, the goals of the organization became secondary.
Employees were being rewarded, and soon, employees expected more for less work. (Peak, 2012).
Conclusion
All three different management styles explained above

Mandatory Audit Partner Rotation, Audit Quality, and Market Perception: Evidence from Taiwan*
WUCHUN CHI, National Chengchi University HUICHI HUANG, Syracuse University YICHUN
LIAO, National Taiwan University HONG XIE, University of Kentucky 1. Introduction Mandatory
audit partner rotation has existed in the United States since the 1970s, when the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) required that audit partners in charge of Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) audits be rotated at least once every seven years. The Sarbanes Oxley
Act of 2002 (SOX) further strengthens this requirement by mandating a five year rotation for the lead
and concurring partners. An implicit assumption in a policy of mandatory partner ... Show more

We find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. Second, we compare the mandatory
rotation sample with itself one year earlier (2003) (the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year).
We find that the audit quality of companies in the mandatory rotation sample under new audit partners
is lower than the audit quality of these same companies one year earlier under old audit partners.
Third, we compare our mandatory rotation sample with companies in years before 2003 whose audit
partners were voluntarily rotated within the same audit firm (the voluntary rotation sample). We again
find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. In sum, we find no support for the
belief that mandatory audit partner rotation enhances audit quality. Our findings are robust to various
sensitivity checks. Next, we examine the effect of mandatory audit partner rotation on investor
perceptions of audit quality, using the earnings response coefficient (ERC) as a proxy for perceived
audit quality (Teoh and Wong 1993; Ghosh and Moon 2005), After controlling for common
determinants of the ERC, we find that the ERC of the mandatory rotation sample is not significantly
different from that of the nonrotation sample or that of the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year,
but is significantly larger than the ERC of the voluntary rotation sample. Overall, we find no
consistent support for the belief that mandatory

Federal Express ( Fedex )
Federal Express (FedEx), founded in 1971, handles countless packaging requests. In order for them to
remain competitive they customize their website FedEx.com to field questions received by customers
on a daily basis. FedEx has reduced costs by almost $2.00 per incoming call by using the website.
Customers are able to speak with a Customer Representative if questions cannot easily get answered
on the website. Using the FedEx website instead of the call center FedEx has saved an estimated 1.34
billion dollars a year.
FedEx has the latest technology offered. First, customers remain able to acquire instant updates on
their packages by visiting FedEx.com. Second, they can schedule pick ups at their convenience via the
website, and have emails sent to them showing some, or all updates occurring to their packages. Since
it is further cost effective using the website than calling a Representative the savings are passed on in
lower shipping costs. FedEx also offers a mobile application that, when downloaded to your
smartphone and can operate anywhere.
Another feature FedEx has is ESRI technology (esritv, 2009) to track packages; it is a Geographical
Mapping System that uses real time Technologies. For example, if a product that is shipping is time
critical, or Government sensitive material the ESRI system keeps FedEx up to date on where the
driver is. The driver also has a monitor that shows where the following destination is, distance to the
succeeding location, and approximate

Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster Analysis
On the morning of January 28, 1986, a tragedy struck the United States when the Space Shuttle
Challenger exploded just moments after liftoff on national television. Approximately 74 seconds into
its flight, the shuttle erupted into flame and was totally enveloped in the explosive burn before
breaking apart, killing all seven astronauts aboard. The Rogers Commission, appointed by President
Ronald Reagan to investigate the disaster, later concluded that the accident occurred due to the failure
of an O ring seal in the right solid rocket booster of the shuttle.1 Saddened by the event, Reagan
postponed his annual State of the Union address and instead gave a national address on the disaster the
night of the incident. Within his address, Reagan expresses his condolences to the families of the crew
and reminds everyone that we re still pioneers despite that we ve grown used to the idea of space.

The Tolkien The Hobbit
The Hobbit
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien is novel about a hobbit who comes to the realization that there was more
to him than what meets the eye. In the Middle Earth, around the third age, Bilbo Baggins embarks on
the adventure of a lifetime. Throughout the obstacles and hardships of the adventure, Bilbo Baggins
transforms from a man of doubts and comfort to a hero with a newfound confidence and leadership.
The Hobbit, a book of fantasy and adventure, is likely to appeal to readers of any age. The author who
tells an entertaining story, offers all readers a chance to journey on an adventure with a magical
wizard, a hobbit and dwarves. In the beginning of the novel the author s tone transitions from
humorous to ominous and suspenseful. Humorously, the author talks about Bilbo s attitude towards
Gandalf s offer of an adventure stating, We don t want any adventures here, thank you! You might
want to try over the Hill or across the water. By this he meant the conversation was at end (6). As the
book progresses, the author s tone darkens, and the suspense of the novel rises. One example of
suspense in the novel is Bilbo s encounter with Gollum. Does it guess easy? It must have a
competition with us, my preciouss! If precious asks, and it doesn t answer, we eats it, my preciousss.
If it asks us and we don t answer, then we does what it wants, eh? We shows it the way out, yes! (70).

The next reason is Ron believes by laying off employees will help generate more profit for the
company. That is not the cases though, He made things worse for the fact he only treated the

declining. Because of the issues, the manager had to cut the work force in production. When that
happened, the remaining employees became alarmed that their jobs were no longer stable. Affecting
the employee s ability in production. This can also lead to poor quality products, which could cost the
loss of clientele. Ultimately by letting go of employee s and getting rid of the Scanlon plan, he
negatively impacted the employee s production quality. Without reinforcement of good work behavior

organization was facing a crisis. Which was a downward turn of sales in the past two years. This
decline in sales was the reason behind Ron Bent having to lay off twenty percent of his employees.
Productivity was dropping, product quality issues had begun to surface, and employee morale was
low, I believe all these issues were all occurring because of the lay off in employment. They have
faced this situation before, the solution to that previous issue was the Scanlon plan. The Scanlon plan
was created as a company wide incentive program, in the past it was critical in building morale,
product quality, increasing productivity. Leading in too a huge turnaround for the company. That was
not the case this time around, into the second year of decline in sales. Ron Bent got rid of the Scanlon
plan. While not taking in to consideration that the decline in sales was the root problem in the

Add Cake, Subtract Self Esteem Analysis
Once upon a time, women were celebrated for their curves. Weight was a symbol of wealth and
fertility in a woman. During this time, women were subjugated to being a housewife and nothing
more. As time and society progressed, a woman s prison became her body and no longer her home.
Women had the freedom to vote, work, play, but could no longer be fat. This new beauty standard of
thinness affects women in many ways. In Add Cake, Subtract Self Esteem written by Caroline Knapp,
she describes her own personal experience on how this impossible standard affects women s eating
which leads to eating disorders and an unhealthy relationship with food. In The Beauty Myth written

Beauty Myth written by Naomi Wolf is an essay written to present how the advancements of women
in social power lead to a societal backlash that lead to a woman s value being equated to her
appearance by both sexes. This devaluation of women has led to a harmful relationship with food and
women subjecting themselves to mental and physical torture to be thin. Wolf describes in the 1920s

domestic seclusion. According to Wolf, when women were in male spheres, that pleasure had to be

Football Reflection
In this story, I am going to share an experience with you about a lesson that I learned last year during
the football season. It will include some graphic details, a deeper look into my thoughts and feelings,
and much more. This is the story that helped change my whole mindset of football. This is what
Friday night lights is all about.
During the last football season, I suffered an injury that I thought was going to affect me in such a
negative way. But it turns out, even though it was one of the most painful things I ve experienced, it
ended up being one of the best things to happen to me. My whole mindset on the game of football
changed for the better, and it made me into the great player I am today.
It was homecoming night against the powerhouse Taylorville, it was cold, rainy, and the field turned
into a swamp of mud, sweat, and blood. It was time for the game to start. Taylorville came out on
offense and on the very first play of the game, Parker Stokes ran a 63 yard touchdown. It was one of
the many spirit breakers of the night. It was time for us to return the favor, we came out on offense on
the 20 yard line. We had 80 yards to go, and it felt more like 1,000. With all the rain we couldn t pass
the ball, so we handed the ball off to our all star running back Terrence Hill, we drove the ball 56
yards on 6 plays. We were doing great until all of a sudden nothing went right for us. We got stuffed at
the line of scrimmage on the next two plays and then, the

Martha Simpson Court Case Essay
Everyone has heard of the OJ Simpson court case a rich and famous man is accused of murdering his
ex wife and despite an overwhelming amount of evidence presented against him, he somehow
manages to be found not guilty. Many people find themselves wondering how that could possibly
happen. Was his defense team simply that good? Were there mistakes made? Was he actually
innocent? Simpson s case is not the only one that has yielded such a strange outcome because of his
status and stellar defense team, and certainly not the only court case to cause such an uproar in the
media. Martha Stewart s 2001 case, Scott Peterson s 2004 case, and Lorena Bobbitt s 1994 case are all
examples of court trials that sparked interest in the eye of America.

Stabile mentions that a lot of the publications focused on Martha Stewart at this time talked about how
poorly she would do in jail and how tough the transition period would be for her because of her
personality and persona as a woman who combines a sort of homemaker vibe with a high powered
business woman.
Martha Stewart s defense attorney was a man named Robert Morvillo, a man who had represented
high profile clients such as Merrill Lynch and Amerada Hess. He has been described as one of the city
s savviest white collar criminal defense attorneys for more than three decades (Smith, Can This Man
Save Martha? ). One of Morvillo s biggest rebuttals in the Stewart case was bringing up the fact that if
Stewart were really as smart and business savvy as the prosecutor will try to make her seem by
bringing up her years as a stockbroker, which should have made her realize that the sales of her stock
were illegal, then why would she risk her entire company and image over a sale that would have
provided her with a miniscule amount of money in comparison to what she already makes (Smith)?
Stewart being a household name obviously meant that she had plenty of supporters, but also plenty of
opposition. People have all kinds of reasons for whether they like or dislike a certain celebrity. In

The Church For World Evangelization Is An Experienced...
Scott Sundin is an experienced pastor with a very detailed past in ministry. As a brief glance into his
past, he served as a missionary for Awana Clubs for the first ten years of his ministry career. After that,
he entered into his pastoral ministry at a church called Blue Ridge Bible Church. There, he knows
everyone by name and becomes good friends with everyone he meets. He believes that his lifelong
goal should be to honor and please God by doing His commands on earth, reaching out to people and
teaching them the truth of God s Holy Word through the gifts the Lord has given Him. He currently
lives in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife. He has two sons, one daughter, and one grandchild.
Doctrinal and Spiritual Pastor Scott Sundin s doctrinal and spiritual stances regarding missions are
clear and well defined. For one, he believes that the obligation of the church for world evangelization
is to send, facilitate, and equip . He explained how the church should be responsible for as much as
they can when it comes to the preparation of a missionary for the field. First of all, he, along with his
church, try to support missions as much as financially possible. Then, they begin to teach the methods
of evangelism and about the mission field to those in the congregation who are ready for missions.
Lastly, Pastor Scott feels that the church equips each individual for the field once they are ready for it.
He recounts that this is one area where he wishes he could be more involved,

Compare And Contrast Lake Tahoe And Heli

Mexican film released in 2013 by Amat Escalante which is considered to be more of a minimalist

contemporary Latin American cinema evident in deadpan comedies as well as minimalist dramas.
What she means by that is basically that deadpan comedies as impassive or expressionless comedy

Race Representation In American Cinema
be done has seemingly been done before (*cough* Sharknado). After watching Get Out and eagerly
convincing everyone I knew to go see it (including you!), I found that my requests were met with
concern as many said oh, I do not like scary movies. It is unfortunate that so many would forgo seeing
the movie in light of someone s preconceived idea of what a horror movie is. The entire genre is
compartmentalized into a one size fits all description and what arises out of this generalization is an
entire group of people who miss out on seeing a good film and instead see some sequel, prequel,

The term became popular when it was adopted by the Black Lives Matter movement and is a lyrics in
the chorus of Childish Gambino/Donald Glover s song Redbone that appears at the start of the film.
There is an evident in the connections that black filmmaker s make by using music made by black
musicians (Taylor). The score is a formative and fundamental reference for black art (ibid). In Get

assemblage of music backing a motion picture. The main theme music in the film is a Swahili song

American music typically sounds hopeful and upbeat. In order to achieve this

Fundamental Differences Between Strong Mayor And...
Discuss the fundamental differences between weak mayor, strong mayor and council manager forms
of government. In the United States of America, there are two forms of government that most cities
adhere to, Mayor Council and Council Manager. However, there is a third form of government that a
smaller few adhere to call the commission. Moreover, approximately 59% of the cities in the United
States utilize the Council Manager form of government; conversely 33% utilize the Mayor Council
form of government, which means the remaining 8% more than likely utilize the commission form of
government. Council Manager Government In the State of Texas, the Council Manager form of
government is preferred by all of the major cities, except for Houston who prefer the Mayor Council
form of government. Under the Council Manager form of government, the voters are at the top of the
hierarchical structure. In this capacity, the voters elect a small City Council, including a mayor, who is
the presiding officer over the City Council. Although the Mayor is symbolically the Head of State , he
or she is not the head of government. The Mayor and City Council have the authority to appoint four
of the city s government officials: the City Manager, the City Attorney, the City Clerk and the
Municipal Judge (some cities elect this position). Moreover, although weak in this form of
government, the Mayor has a vote on many issues impacting the city; however, lacks any type of veto
authority (except in a few cities), which means that laws are passed by on a majority rule voting
system of the total City Council Members, meaning all City Council Members must vote in order to
pass a law. Most importantly, the Mayor and City Council primary role lies in the establishment of a
strategic vision for the city. Once this is accomplished, the Mayor and the City Council are responsible
for generating a strong mission statement that aligns with a set of clear goals, resulting in effective
government policy guidance for execution by the City Manager to run the city. Collectively, the
Mayor and City Council hire the City Manager who has full management authority, to execute the
Mayor s and City Council s vision for the city. However, a City

Abolitionist John Brown
I have, may it please the court, a few words to say. In the first place, I deny everything but what I have
all along admitted the design on my part to free the slaves. I intended certainly to have made a clean
thing of that matter, as I did last winter when I went into Missouri and there took slaves without the
snapping of a gun on either side, moved them through the country, and finally left them in Canada. I
designed to have done the same thing again on a larger scale. That was what I intended. I never did
intent murder, or treason, or the destruction of property, or to excite or incite slaves to rebellion, or to
make insurrection.(Fanton 82)
These are some of the words spoken by abolitionist John Brown at his trial in Charles Town, Virginia
(now part of West Virginia) following his violent raid at Harper s Ferry Federal Arsenal in October,
1859 (Fanton 82). John Brown played a vital role in the anti slavery movement and his actions opened
the eyes of a nation that would become divided in a war of brother against brother. He clearly states
his intentions, but did he really not mean to excite or incite a rebellion among slaves? John Brown
represented the ideals and thoughts of many Americans. John Brown s strong beliefs on a violent
insurrection of the slaves gave rise to the beginning of the Civil War.
John Brown was born on May 9, 1800 in Torrington, Connecticut (McPhail). When Brown turned five
years old, his family moved to Ohio. His parents Owen Brown and Ruth

Video Games And The Video Game
I ve been playing video games and watching various forms of animation for years. I started to play
video games on my Sega Genesis, like Sonic the Hedgehog and Phantasy Star. From then on, I
advanced in gaming platforms and experienced games from Nintendo since the Nintendo
Entertainment System (NES) and from Sony on the first PlayStation. I spent countless hours playing
video games. However, I also spent a fair amount of time watching animation. I d wake up on
Saturday mornings to watch shows like Pokémon and Dragon Ball. Additionally, there was the
occasional marathon of Disney VHS tapes. Through video games, I was able to explore new realms
through virtual reality. In role playing games (RPG s), I d be able to take on the role of a protagonist
that would save different worlds and trek across lands teeming with adventure and evil to vanquish.
Similarly, these experiences were also found in the characters of the cartoons I watched. As a result, I
became inspired to create my own characters and even illustrate the ones I watched from those
Saturday morning cartoons. At the time, my room was decorated with multiple drawings and posters

This turned many in the favor of Reagan. It was the worst defeat of an incumbent president since
Hoover s loss to FDR in 1932. Carter won only four small states plus his home state of Georgia
(Campaigns 4). Republicans again selected Reagan and Bush to run in 1984. The Democrats selected
Walter Mondale. Reagan used many one liners that poked fun at his adversaries. Mondale believed
that the high deficits and unbalanced budget would put the public in his favor and against Reagan, but
it did not happen. Reagan s campaign slogan was It s morning again in America was accepted by most

What Are The Causes Of The October Crisis
Terror arose in Quebec, 1970, when the kidnapping of James Cross by the Front de libération du
Québec caused the October Crisis. It further strained the relationship between Quebec and the rest of
Canada. The majority of those outside of Quebec disregarded the crisis despite the panic that arose in
Quebec. Even when Quebec s Minister of Labour was assassinated, justice was not achieved. Isolating
Québec was the Front de libération du Québec s main goal causing half of Quebec s population to
want to be separate from Canada. However, he first hints of strain caused by the October crisis
appeared when those who were not Québécois ignored the crisis importance.

Drum Techniques
Are you marvelous at multitasking different beats and rhythms at the same time? Can each part of
your body perform perfect tasks at the perfect times, with crisp, natural, moves? Can you meet the
demand standards and constant stamina that this specific instrument gives you? Well this is the life of
a drummer, it doesn t matter what type of drummer because they all get incorporated into one. The
drum set can become a very confusing topic just when it comes to the actual setup. It is known to be
as complex as a Rubik s Cube. The way this works is that there is one snare drum, 3 toms, a bass
drum, hi hat cymbals, and at least one type of other cymbal. Now, this is just a basic setup that is
really simple to work with, but as you progress into the world of drumming, your set grows to the
point where you are almost surrounded in percussion instruments. One of my favorite drummers,
Mike Mangini, has his own personal set that is HUGE. The set is up against the wall but drums cover
in a full 180 degree circle so you have to kind of climb to get in. Not only that, but there are also
drums above his head that he has to pick up his sticks above his head to hit. ... Show more content on

Student s Transition Into Elementary School Essay
A student s transition into elementary school marks a unique gateway into formal schooling that is
encumbered with new demands and susceptible to new influences. Within the past few decades,
researchers have used students school transitions as a context to examine the influence of student
teacher relationships (e.g., Birch Ladd, 1997; Ewing Taylor, 2009; Pianta Stuhlman, 2004). The
quality of these dyadic relationships is an important platform through which teachers instruct students
and students acquire multifaceted knowledge from their teachers (Pianta, 1999). Researchers suggest
that certain aspects of student teacher relationships support and regulate students development,
particularly during the early years (Pianta, 1999). Although these aspects include teachers instruction
(e.g., explicit, systematic, etc.), they also include features of the classroom environment, such as
teachers sensitivity and warmth, responsiveness, and verbal engagement (Downer, Sabol, Hamre,
2010). When combinations of high quality and supportive instruction are embedded within students
learning, students are able to interact constructively with their teachers and peers (Gallagher, Kainz,
Vernon Feagans, White, 2013). More importantly, aspects of instructional and classroom environment
encourage students to capitalize on available learning opportunities and to adjust to the expectations of
formal schooling (Howes, Phillipsen, Peisner Feinberg, 2000). Components of

Social Media Integration Theory of Isra Garcia (2010)
According to Isra Garcia (2010), The exposure, feedback, engagement , connection and sharing that
Social Media platforms provides, creates a major changes for the traditional communication
understanding. The flow of communication is no longer considered as a one way street in which
audience received messages through the I communicate you receive mantra. Rather, Social Media
integration is seen as an interactive process in which there is more than two people communicating to
each other at the same time that enables same level information exchange among the users.
Social bookmarking sites such as blogs or web pages place content into an active eco system that
allows social media interaction such as Twitter or Facebook. This content is then partaked and spread
virally through the interaction made on the social media eco system. This refers to people being
connected to people through common groups, associations, and interests. Since this becomes the six
degrees of separation this interaction causes the viral effect. This social media platform allows the
interaction and the ability for the model to flow and become organic. Then, the social networking
platforms enable the connection with the public through the engagement approach caused by the two

Moreover, the State Bank of Vietnam‟s regulations, the bank‟s internal policies and annual reports as

analysis of both primary and secondary data shows that this bank has been trying to adopt a close to
standard credit risk management framework with numerous published documents governing the day to
day credit activities. Some good points are a complete lending procedure or a standard internal credit
rating system SYMBOLS. However when it comes to actual operation, some aspects should be
considered, e.g. the staff training quality or the priority treatment to high value customers. Especially,
the high non performing loans at the transaction office and the non complied loss provision must be
reviewed and adjusted. These discoveries have led to several constructive improvement suggestions

The Importance Of Walking Under Steady State Conditions
The current knowledge available from the literature on walking at different speeds assumes a direct
relationship between the level of activity of lower extremities muscles and speed. Several studies in
the past have looked into this relationship for walking under steady state conditions. In this section we
review these studies and their findings and we highlight limitations of their approaches and discuss the
suggestions to expand the analysis to walking under transient conditions.
Hof et al. [21] were one of the first groups to measure surface electromyograms (EMGs) from subjects
walking at different speeds. Five speeds were instructed for over ground walking and EMGs were
measured for ten walking steps at each speed. Parts of EMG profiles showed considerable changes
with speed while other parts did not show any changes. The authors suggested that the activity at any
speed could be estimated through a linear interpolation of sum of the profile at the lowest speed and a
function that represents the increase in the activity per unit increase of normalized speed. One
limitation of the calculations here was lack of statistical tests. Because of this shortcoming the linear
interpolation model could be used to make reliable conclusions only about the effect of speed on the
activity in the vicinity of the peak of each signal. Without building the confidence intervals we cannot
infer the effect of speed on activation profiles over the entire gait cycle. In addition to lack of

Self Identity And Personality Development
I grew up in an average middle class family, where I attend a public primary school during the early
years of my life. Primary school was rather simple reason been most of the pupils were friendly and
there was so social division both inside and outside of class. However, once I entered high school life
became different with the existence of classes due to boundaries between the well behaved students
who were also classified as middle class and the students who were rude and involve themselves in
truancy was considered middle class. During this time, my personality and emotional developments
were developing and with the emotional support from my parents my self identity was enhanced.
Which in turn gave me the foundation to become the person I am now. Emotional and Personality
development can have a positive outcome on behaviors, learning and the decision that are made in
schools this then can lead to a stronger self identity. Self identity in adolescence is composed of two
concepts. First, are self concept this is referred to permanent assessments of oneself such as
knowledge of one self skills and abilities, also the personality traits and attributes. For example, an
adolescent may have negative academic self concept because of the bad grades they are receiving but
have a positive athletic self concept because they are a star which refers athlete. Secondly is self
esteem which refers to the global evaluative dimension of the self. This can be seen as how the

Discuss the View That the Impact of Earthquake Hazards...
Discuss the view that the impact of earthquake hazards depends primarily on human factors (40) .
I agree to some extent about the statement above and that human factors can affect the impact of an
earthquake hazard. A hazard is an object or process that has the potential to cause harm. Ground
shaking, ground displacement and flooding are some of the hazards that are produced during an
earthquake. In relation to the question above the type and severity of the impact can be affected by
physical factors (such as the magnitude and frequency of the quake) as well as human factors
(population density and education). I will be discussing the question using the following case studies,
Sichuan, Indonesia and L Aquila.

difficult to enforce building regulations, producing a total estimated economic loss of $86b. Making
this the second mostly costly earthquake from 1900 2013. The impacts of this earthquake were caused

A Short Note On Engine Power And Its Impact On The World...
I. Summary
After World War II, aircraft structures had to be redesigned to enable the use of turbojet power instead
of piston engine power. After its first flight on February 15th, 1946, the DC 6 piston powered aircraft
quickly became the workhorse for passenger aircraft. With a wingspan of one hundred and seventeen
feet, six inches, and a total length of one hundred feet, seven inches, this airframe was able to hold
roughly one hundred and five individuals. For nearly ten years, the DC 6 was incomparable to any
other airframes at that time. It was capable of carrying over a hundred passengers, and also very heavy
cargo payloads. However, on December 20th, 1957 a new bird entered the sky, and its name was the
Boeing 707. With four 13,500 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a high demand of passengers from civilian airliners after World War II, aircraft manufacturers,
such as Boeing, needed to create an airframe capable of meeting such demands. They needed an
airframe that could withstand extremely altitudes, high cruising speeds, and be capable of higher
payloads.
III. Significance of the Problem
The problem was significant because major airliners in the United States needed an airframe as soon
as possible, and that could outweigh the competition of other airliners. The Boeing Company had the
answers to all the airliner s questions and concerns, and within no time engineers began working on
the design for a new turbojet aircraft.
IV. Factors, Issues and Solutions
Factor 1. Design an airframe capable of extreme altitudes
Issue. Even though the DC 6 cabin was pressurized, and could operate at nearly 29,000 feet, Boeing
had to create an airframe that could cruise even higher. The higher cruising altitude would allow for
better fuel consumption, and cruising range. It would also allow for smoother air travel for passengers
because weather would be no factor at such altitudes.
Solution. In order to accomplish this, Boeing would need to create an airframe out of aluminum alloy
and have a very sleek shape to constrict drag. The DC 6 like many other airframes used aluminum
alloy because it was strong, lightweight, and durable at extreme temperatures. Boeing

Man Is The Cause Of Climate Change
Imagine this; Our world with thick coal colored clouds, we re having to wear gas masks to breathe.
Animals, except fish, are going extinct due to not having grass to eat. There isn t any fresh water so
we have to boil our water over terribly hot fires. The nights are freezing cold and the days are
extremely hot with humid thick air, even sometimes there are immensely strong rainstorms of acid
rain. Our world doesn t need to be like this; Man is the cause of climate change due to the overuse of
fossil fuels, using aerosol products, and even deforestation.. sw3The most impactful way man causes
climate change is through burning fossil fuels, we as humans cause air pollution directly through our
use of gases, electricity and transportation. Also air pollution can be caused indirectly, when we buy
our food and other goods it uses energy to create, clean, and ship the item. The foremost way we cause
air pollution is through emissions from vehicles, and even greenhouses use fossil fuels, the greenhouse
effect makes it warmer. How the greenhouse effect works is that chemicals are let out into the
atmosphere then some of the chemicals absorbs heat, some examples of greenhouse gases are nitrous
oxide , methane, ozone, and carbon dioxide. Another way man causes climate change is by the use of
aerosol cans and product. Aerosols effect on Earth s climate is that it will scatter light

Impact Of Technology On Our Modern World
One small step for technology, one large step for mankind
Take a moment and look around you. What do you see? Most likely you are surrounded by
technology. This new phenomenon is a vital part in the modern world. The domination of technology
has engulfed our culture, it has become a large portion of our everyday life and the way that we
function. Three authors; Christine Rosen, Lakshmi Chaudhry, and Jim Taylor, have illustrated the
foundations of technology on our modern world. They have all taken sides on the cultural alterations,
social effects, and distortion of our true identity due to technology.
It is thought that social Media is a way to portray yourself and your life online so that others can easily
access it; to comment, like, or share your life events. It is a way of being social without truly seeing
that person. According to Rosen, social media resembles a modern manipulation, in a way that we
portray what we want others to see and can distort the true essence of our being. The easy accessibility
of social media it has allowed our culture to flourish in ways it has never before. Providing that
technology has become so easily accessible, it has allowed one to effortlessly alternate and updates
their social media. But this accessibility has caused a social anxiety in its user, causing a need to be
like others; to be cool, or known. This idea of fame has made our generation of social media users
monotonous and analogous.

Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King
Do you really have a choice? Many people believe that there is no such thing as fate. That a person
can decide their own fate and nothing is set in stone. Although, people today don t think the same as
the people from the ancient societies. Back then, a person s fate was handed down from the gods to
oracles and was decided before the child was born. People had no choice back then, what the gods say
aren t taken lightly. But yet, people still attempted to trick fate and escape their destined paths. And in
one of the many ancient greeks stories, Oedipus Rex, a major theme was do not try to outsmart fate .
Throughout the story, many people attempted to escape or outsmart fate, but instead fate outsmarted
them, leading them down their already chosen paths. Nevertheless, the main characters in Oedipus
Rex, the kings and queen, who thought themselves worthy enough to test fate, seemed to be the ones
to lose to fate in the end. It s important to realize, that the first ones to test fate were King Laios and

immigrants currently have jobs , but the issue is that Americans won t have the proper training to take
all of these jobs (Krogstad). This will lead to companies not producing what they should and being
forced to lay off people. So overall by kicking out all immigrants Trump will be costing many
Americans jobs and could lead to another depression. Another thing that Trump has said he will do is
build a wall around the U.S and Mexico. This wall will cost millions, maybe even billions of dollars,
yet Trump has not elaborated on how it will be paid for. He has said he will get Mexico to pay for it
and that he has a plan to do it, but nobody knows what that is. This

  • 2. In Another Country Essay The short story in another country is about patriotism, a term which rudimentarily means: deep love to one s own country. It is, however, just a part of a greater concept, love, which manifests itself, throughout the story, in different forms; love to a friend, love to a spouse and even to one s own country. When we are first exposed to the story, with the vivid imaginary of the weather, we feel how cold it is, and how warm are the `roasted chestnuts that we actually desire some. Moreover, it is very delightful to share the experience of the speaker when `the electric lights came on, and it was pleasant along the streets looking in the windows . To ponder over the captioned imaginary, we will discover that it refers to human life in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of the speaker, the medals he has been awarded have nothing to do patriotism because `[he] had been given the medals because [he] was [merely] an American. This is why he and his fellow soldiers were `drifted apart they know that such medals should have only been given to those who sacrifice themselves in order to save their own country, not because they are merely from another one, thus they will not have any passion toward the country they are put in to fight in spite the fact that they may be placed in the front lines and, accordingly, fight gallantly. The `boy who had been wounded his first day at the front is still in good terms with the speaker since the latter likes him because `perhaps he would not have turned out to be a hawk either [like me] this implies that the speaker does not want to bother himself fighting for another country and since the boy, as he thinks, resembles him, he keeps his relationship with him. Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Summary In Abraham Lincoln s second inaugural address, he begins voicing that there is no need for him to have such an extended address just as he did the first time. Before his four years in office, there was that necessary detail of what he felt must be pursued, but now he feels as though there is still yet to be pursued as he had wished before. The public knows as much as himself when it comes to the progression of the military, and he believes is satisfactory with entailing of high hopes for the future. He proceeds to express that he had made his first address with the anxious view of civil war. Americans wanted to avoid the war as much as possible but while his address was on saving the union without conflict there were those who were planning to destroy it. Both political party s views disapproved war, but one party would risk a nation to avoid war whereas the other party would not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neither party expected the war to be as it is but God says, Woe unto the world because of offenses; for it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh. And if slavery is an offense of the world, then civil war is an offense that should have been wooed by both the North and the South and it is an offense that originated from the offense of slavery. • 4. Prison Management Styles Management Styles Raechellee Noland American Intercontinental University Abstract Organizations and businesses alike all have managers and management styles that they abide by. Some may be company policy; while others seem to be implemented by the manager s themselves. In this paper, three different management styles are explained; Scientific, human relations, and systems management styles. All have been used in different organizations, and some are still used today. In order for a business to effectively succeed in their goals, a certain management style needs to be used. Management Styles The key to making any kind of business work depends on management and how management or managers manage the companies they work for. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end, one department would be great, while all the others were different and didn t sync well with the others. Most Effective and Disadvantages In order for today s criminal justice system to work correctly, the best management theory would be the systems theory. The criminal justice system needs to have a structured and organized system in order to make things work, the systems management theory focuses on the overall goals of the departments as a whole, rather than focusing just on one goal for each department. Criminal justice is a system; there are several different parts that need to work together in order for it to work. This would include all components, such as the courts, police, and corrections. They all need to be on the same page in order to keep the balance between the three and avoid chaos. A disadvantage of scientific management in criminal justice was that the style focused more on the production and the needs of the organizations over caring for the needs and wants of the employees. The disadvantages of the human relations theory, was that is focused too much on the employees. With too much focus on the employees, the goals of the organization became secondary. Employees were being rewarded, and soon, employees expected more for less work. (Peak, 2012). Conclusion All three different management styles explained above ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mandatory Audit Partner Rotation, Audit Quality, and Market Perception: Evidence from Taiwan* WUCHUN CHI, National Chengchi University HUICHI HUANG, Syracuse University YICHUN LIAO, National Taiwan University HONG XIE, University of Kentucky 1. Introduction Mandatory audit partner rotation has existed in the United States since the 1970s, when the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) required that audit partners in charge of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) audits be rotated at least once every seven years. The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) further strengthens this requirement by mandating a five year rotation for the lead and concurring partners. An implicit assumption in a policy of mandatory partner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. Second, we compare the mandatory rotation sample with itself one year earlier (2003) (the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year). We find that the audit quality of companies in the mandatory rotation sample under new audit partners is lower than the audit quality of these same companies one year earlier under old audit partners. Third, we compare our mandatory rotation sample with companies in years before 2003 whose audit partners were voluntarily rotated within the same audit firm (the voluntary rotation sample). We again find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. In sum, we find no support for the belief that mandatory audit partner rotation enhances audit quality. Our findings are robust to various sensitivity checks. Next, we examine the effect of mandatory audit partner rotation on investor perceptions of audit quality, using the earnings response coefficient (ERC) as a proxy for perceived audit quality (Teoh and Wong 1993; Ghosh and Moon 2005), After controlling for common determinants of the ERC, we find that the ERC of the mandatory rotation sample is not significantly different from that of the nonrotation sample or that of the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year, but is significantly larger than the ERC of the voluntary rotation sample. Overall, we find no consistent support for the belief that mandatory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for them to remain competitive they customize their website FedEx.com to field questions received by customers on a daily basis. FedEx has reduced costs by almost $2.00 per incoming call by using the website. Customers are able to speak with a Customer Representative if questions cannot easily get answered on the website. Using the FedEx website instead of the call center FedEx has saved an estimated 1.34 billion dollars a year. FedEx has the latest technology offered. First, customers remain able to acquire instant updates on their packages by visiting FedEx.com. Second, they can schedule pick ups at their convenience via the website, and have emails sent to them showing some, or all updates occurring to their packages. Since it is further cost effective using the website than calling a Representative the savings are passed on in lower shipping costs. FedEx also offers a mobile application that, when downloaded to your smartphone and can operate anywhere. Another feature FedEx has is ESRI technology (esritv, 2009) to track packages; it is a Geographical Mapping System that uses real time Technologies. Approximately 74 seconds into its flight, the shuttle erupted into flame and was totally enveloped in the explosive burn before breaking apart, killing all seven astronauts aboard. The Rogers Commission, appointed by President Ronald Reagan to investigate the disaster, later concluded that the accident occurred due to the failure of an O ring seal in the right solid rocket booster of the shuttle.1 Saddened by the event, Reagan postponed his annual State of the Union address and instead gave a national address on the disaster the night of the incident. Throughout the obstacles and hardships of the adventure, Bilbo Baggins transforms from a man of doubts and comfort to a hero with a newfound confidence and leadership. The Hobbit, a book of fantasy and adventure, is likely to appeal to readers of any age. The author who tells an entertaining story, offers all readers a chance to journey on an adventure with a magical wizard, a hobbit and dwarves. Humorously, the author talks about Bilbo s attitude towards Gandalf s offer of an adventure stating, We don t want any adventures here, thank you! You might want to try over the Hill or across the water. By this he meant the conversation was at end (6). As the book progresses, the author s tone darkens, and the suspense of the novel rises. During this time, women were subjugated to being a housewife and nothing more. As time and society progressed, a woman s prison became her body and no longer her home. Women had the freedom to vote, work, play, but could no longer be fat. This new beauty standard of thinness affects women in many ways. In Add Cake, Subtract Self Esteem written by Caroline Knapp, she describes her own personal experience on how this impossible standard affects women s eating which leads to eating disorders and an unhealthy relationship with food. The anxiety that women feel leads to an insatiable desire to be thin no matter the cost because of fear of being fat, and the negative connotation associated with being fat. The Beauty Myth written by Naomi Wolf is an essay written to present how the advancements of women in social power lead to a societal backlash that lead to a woman s value being equated to her appearance by both sexes. This devaluation of women has led to a harmful relationship with food and women subjecting themselves to mental and physical torture to be thin. Wolf describes in the 1920s was the first time that women became preoccupied with dieting and thinness after receiving the right to vote. • 11. Football Reflection In this story, I am going to share an experience with you about a lesson that I learned last year during the football season. It will include some graphic details, a deeper look into my thoughts and feelings, and much more. This is the story that helped change my whole mindset of football. This is what Friday night lights is all about. During the last football season, I suffered an injury that I thought was going to affect me in such a negative way. But it turns out, even though it was one of the most painful things I ve experienced, it ended up being one of the best things to happen to me. My whole mindset on the game of football changed for the better, and it made me into the great player I am today. It was homecoming night against the powerhouse Taylorville, it was cold, rainy, and the field turned into a swamp of mud, sweat, and blood. It was time for the game to start. Taylorville came out on offense and on the very first play of the game, Parker Stokes ran a 63 yard touchdown. It was one of the many spirit breakers of the night. It was time for us to return the favor, we came out on offense on the 20 yard line. We had 80 yards to go, and it felt more like 1,000. With all the rain we couldn t pass the ball, so we handed the ball off to our all star running back Terrence Hill, we drove the ball 56 yards on 6 plays. We were doing great until all of a sudden nothing went right for us. We got stuffed at the line of scrimmage on the next two plays and then, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martha Simpson Court Case Essay Everyone has heard of the OJ Simpson court case a rich and famous man is accused of murdering his ex wife and despite an overwhelming amount of evidence presented against him, he somehow manages to be found not guilty. Martha Stewart s defense attorney was a man named Robert Morvillo, a man who had represented high profile clients such as Merrill Lynch and Amerada Hess. He has been described as one of the city s savviest white collar criminal defense attorneys for more than three decades (Smith, Can This Man Save Martha? ). One of Morvillo s biggest rebuttals in the Stewart case was bringing up the fact that if Stewart were really as smart and business savvy as the prosecutor will try to make her seem by bringing up her years as a stockbroker, which should have made her realize that the sales of her stock were illegal, then why would she risk her entire company and image over a sale that would have provided her with a miniscule amount of money in comparison to what she already makes (Smith)? • 13. The Church For World Evangelization Is An Experienced... Scott Sundin is an experienced pastor with a very detailed past in ministry. As a brief glance into his past, he served as a missionary for Awana Clubs for the first ten years of his ministry career. After that, he entered into his pastoral ministry at a church called Blue Ridge Bible Church. There, he knows everyone by name and becomes good friends with everyone he meets. He believes that his lifelong goal should be to honor and please God by doing His commands on earth, reaching out to people and teaching them the truth of God s Holy Word through the gifts the Lord has given Him. He currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife. He has two sons, one daughter, and one grandchild. Doctrinal and Spiritual Pastor Scott Sundin s doctrinal and spiritual stances regarding missions are clear and well defined. For one, he believes that the obligation of the church for world evangelization is to send, facilitate, and equip . He explained how the church should be responsible for as much as they can when it comes to the preparation of a missionary for the field. First of all, he, along with his church, try to support missions as much as financially possible. Then, they begin to teach the methods of evangelism and about the mission field to those in the congregation who are ready for missions. Lastly, Pastor Scott feels that the church equips each individual for the field once they are ready for it. He recounts that this is one area where he wishes he could be more involved, ... After watching Get Out and eagerly convincing everyone I knew to go see it (including you!), I found that my requests were met with concern as many said oh, I do not like scary movies. It is unfortunate that so many would forgo seeing the movie in light of someone s preconceived idea of what a horror movie is. The entire genre is compartmentalized into a one size fits all description and what arises out of this generalization is an entire group of people who miss out on seeing a good film and instead see some sequel, prequel, reboot, spinoff, remake of a franchise film that only feeds into big studio cinema. • 18. Fundamental Differences Between Strong Mayor And... Discuss the fundamental differences between weak mayor, strong mayor and council manager forms of government. In the United States of America, there are two forms of government that most cities adhere to, Mayor Council and Council Manager. However, there is a third form of government that a smaller few adhere to call the commission. Moreover, approximately 59% of the cities in the United States utilize the Council Manager form of government; conversely 33% utilize the Mayor Council form of government, which means the remaining 8% more than likely utilize the commission form of government. Council Manager Government In the State of Texas, the Council Manager form of government is preferred by all of the major cities, except for Houston who prefer the Mayor Council form of government. Under the Council Manager form of government, the voters are at the top of the hierarchical structure. In this capacity, the voters elect a small City Council, including a mayor, who is the presiding officer over the City Council. Although the Mayor is symbolically the Head of State , he or she is not the head of government. The Mayor and City Council have the authority to appoint four of the city s government officials: the City Manager, the City Attorney, the City Clerk and the Municipal Judge (some cities elect this position). Moreover, although weak in this form of government, the Mayor has a vote on many issues impacting the city; however, lacks any type of veto authority (except in a few cities), which means that laws are passed by on a majority rule voting system of the total City Council Members, meaning all City Council Members must vote in order to pass a law. Most importantly, the Mayor and City Council primary role lies in the establishment of a strategic vision for the city. Once this is accomplished, the Mayor and the City Council are responsible for generating a strong mission statement that aligns with a set of clear goals, resulting in effective government policy guidance for execution by the City Manager to run the city. Collectively, the Mayor and City Council hire the City Manager who has full management authority, to execute the Mayor s and City Council s vision for the city. However, a City ... I intended certainly to have made a clean thing of that matter, as I did last winter when I went into Missouri and there took slaves without the snapping of a gun on either side, moved them through the country, and finally left them in Canada. I designed to have done the same thing again on a larger scale. That was what I intended. I never did intent murder, or treason, or the destruction of property, or to excite or incite slaves to rebellion, or to make insurrection.(Fanton 82) These are some of the words spoken by abolitionist John Brown at his trial in Charles Town, Virginia (now part of West Virginia) following his violent raid at Harper s Ferry Federal Arsenal in October, 1859 (Fanton 82). John Brown played a vital role in the anti slavery movement and his actions opened the eyes of a nation that would become divided in a war of brother against brother. He clearly states his intentions, but did he really not mean to excite or incite a rebellion among slaves? John Brown represented the ideals and thoughts of many Americans. John Brown s strong beliefs on a violent insurrection of the slaves gave rise to the beginning of the Civil War. John Brown was born on May 9, 1800 in Torrington, Connecticut (McPhail). Student s Transition Into Elementary School Essay A student s transition into elementary school marks a unique gateway into formal schooling that is encumbered with new demands and susceptible to new influences. Within the past few decades, researchers have used students school transitions as a context to examine the influence of student teacher relationships (e.g., Birch Ladd, 1997; Ewing Taylor, 2009; Pianta Stuhlman, 2004). The quality of these dyadic relationships is an important platform through which teachers instruct students and students acquire multifaceted knowledge from their teachers (Pianta, 1999). Researchers suggest that certain aspects of student teacher relationships support and regulate students development, particularly during the early years (Pianta, 1999). Although these aspects include teachers instruction (e.g., explicit, systematic, etc.), they also include features of the classroom environment, such as teachers sensitivity and warmth, responsiveness, and verbal engagement (Downer, Sabol, Hamre, 2010). When combinations of high quality and supportive instruction are embedded within students learning, students are able to interact constructively with their teachers and peers (Gallagher, Kainz, Vernon Feagans, White, 2013). The Importance Of Walking Under Steady State Conditions The current knowledge available from the literature on walking at different speeds assumes a direct relationship between the level of activity of lower extremities muscles and speed. Several studies in the past have looked into this relationship for walking under steady state conditions. In this section we review these studies and their findings and we highlight limitations of their approaches and discuss the suggestions to expand the analysis to walking under transient conditions. Hof et al. [21] were one of the first groups to measure surface electromyograms (EMGs) from subjects walking at different speeds. Five speeds were instructed for over ground walking and EMGs were measured for ten walking steps at each speed. Parts of EMG profiles showed considerable changes with speed while other parts did not show any changes. The authors suggested that the activity at any speed could be estimated through a linear interpolation of sum of the profile at the lowest speed and a function that represents the increase in the activity per unit increase of normalized speed. One limitation of the calculations here was lack of statistical tests. Because of this shortcoming the linear interpolation model could be used to make reliable conclusions only about the effect of speed on the activity in the vicinity of the peak of each signal. Without building the confidence intervals we cannot infer the effect of speed on activation profiles over the entire gait cycle. In addition to lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will be discussing the question using the following case studies, Sichuan, Indonesia and L Aquila. On the 12th May 2008 an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This lack of management lead to the collapsing of 5m buildings along with a further 21m damaged. This included 8 schools which were toppled in Dujjangyan, killing and trapping school students. China did not create an adequate seismic design code until after the 1976 quake and even then it was difficult to enforce building regulations, producing a total estimated economic loss of $86b. Making this the second mostly costly earthquake from 1900 2013. The impacts of this earthquake were caused primarily on human factors, with adequate predicting systems and improved infrastructure the total loss and damage could have been reduced. From the case study above we can see that human influences were the main cause in the severity of the impact, but that s not always the case, physical factors are just as important. This can be seen in the great Sumatra Andaman earthquake which took place on the 26th of December 2004 and registered a 9.1 magnitude, one of the third biggest recorded quakes. The subduction of the Indo Australian plate under the Burma plate triggered the tsunami responsible for the greatest loss of life in a tectonic event. A 15 20m slip occurred along 1600km of fault line in two phases over a period of around 3 4 minutes, the longest rupture ever recorded in an earthquake. The focus was located just 30km below sea level, which resulted in serval billion tonnes of water being displaced across ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. A Short Note On Engine Power And Its Impact On The World... I. Summary After World War II, aircraft structures had to be redesigned to enable the use of turbojet power instead of piston engine power. After its first flight on February 15th, 1946, the DC 6 piston powered aircraft quickly became the workhorse for passenger aircraft. With a wingspan of one hundred and seventeen feet, six inches, and a total length of one hundred feet, seven inches, this airframe was able to hold roughly one hundred and five individuals. For nearly ten years, the DC 6 was incomparable to any other airframes at that time. It was capable of carrying over a hundred passengers, and also very heavy cargo payloads. However, on December 20th, 1957 a new bird entered the sky, and its name was the Boeing 707. With four 13,500 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a high demand of passengers from civilian airliners after World War II, aircraft manufacturers, such as Boeing, needed to create an airframe capable of meeting such demands. They needed an airframe that could withstand extremely altitudes, high cruising speeds, and be capable of higher payloads. III. Significance of the Problem The problem was significant because major airliners in the United States needed an airframe as soon as possible, and that could outweigh the competition of other airliners. The Boeing Company had the answers to all the airliner s questions and concerns, and within no time engineers began working on the design for a new turbojet aircraft. IV. Factors, Issues and Solutions Factor 1. Design an airframe capable of extreme altitudes Issue. Even though the DC 6 cabin was pressurized, and could operate at nearly 29,000 feet, Boeing had to create an airframe that could cruise even higher. The higher cruising altitude would allow for better fuel consumption, and cruising range. It would also allow for smoother air travel for passengers because weather would be no factor at such altitudes. Solution. In order to accomplish this, Boeing would need to create an airframe out of aluminum alloy and have a very sleek shape to constrict drag. The DC 6 like many other airframes used aluminum alloy because it was strong, lightweight, and durable at extreme temperatures. Boeing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LA 10 21 November, 2017 Man Is The Cause Of Climate Change Imagine this; Our world with thick coal colored clouds, we re having to wear gas masks to breathe. Animals, except fish, are going extinct due to not having grass to eat. There isn t any fresh water so we have to boil our water over terribly hot fires. The nights are freezing cold and the days are extremely hot with humid thick air, even sometimes there are immensely strong rainstorms of acid rain. Our world doesn t need to be like this; Man is the cause of climate change due to the overuse of fossil fuels, using aerosol products, and even deforestation.. sw3The most impactful way man causes climate change is through burning fossil fuels, we as humans cause air pollution directly through our use of gases, electricity and transportation. Also air pollution can be caused indirectly, when we buy our food and other goods it uses energy to create, clean, and ship the item. The foremost way we cause air pollution is through emissions from vehicles, and even greenhouses use fossil fuels, the greenhouse effect makes it warmer. How the greenhouse effect works is that chemicals are let out into the atmosphere then some of the chemicals absorbs heat, some examples of greenhouse gases are nitrous oxide , methane, ozone, and carbon dioxide. Another way man causes climate change is by the use of aerosol cans and product. Aerosols effect on Earth s climate is that it will scatter light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A valid argument can be made that more people spend their money on video games than films and music. In today s generation, video games have become a part of our American culture. Some of the most precious memories kids have upon their childhood are the video games they played when they were young. Influenced by Boccaccio s Decameron, a collection of tales told by Italian nobility, Chaucer introduces thirty unique characters in the book, writing himself as one of the thirty and the ultimate narrator. These thirty men and women from middle class families convene in Southwark before embarking on a journey to Canterbury, where they will pay respect to St. Thomas Beckett. Traveling on a pilgrimage in the fourteenth century England parallels a retirement cruise in the twenty first century United States; half of the amusing drunkenness occurs before the colorful travelers arrive at their destination. Receiving a pardon for one s sins was an ideal way for wealthy land owners to stay in communion with the Church without having to confess their more embarrassing sins. Before diving into the story, the Pardoner explains how homilies about greed produce more money than any other sin, so he will tell his famous greed is the root of all evil tale. When three deplorable friends hear word that the despicable Death killed their long time friend, they swear an oath to find and kill the ruthless monster. On their way they ridicule an elderly man who is wishing Death would come to take him. The man tells the friends to look under a tree, where instead of Death they find eight bushels of gold coins. The three friends fall to greed when they devise separate plans to kill the others so that each can spend more money gambling, drinking, and eating. In doing so all three so called friends end up dead, and no one enjoys the gold. The obvious moral of the story is that greed is parasitic and causes people to commit grave sins. The Reeve s Tale also ends in tragedy when a greedy, deceitful miller named Simpkin wakes up to hear that two mischievous students, Alan and John, raped not only his daughter but also his wife. • 39. Impact Of Technology On Our Modern World One small step for technology, one large step for mankind Take a moment and look around you. What do you see? Most likely you are surrounded by technology. This new phenomenon is a vital part in the modern world. The domination of technology has engulfed our culture, it has become a large portion of our everyday life and the way that we function. Three authors; Christine Rosen, Lakshmi Chaudhry, and Jim Taylor, have illustrated the foundations of technology on our modern world. They have all taken sides on the cultural alterations, social effects, and distortion of our true identity due to technology. It is thought that social Media is a way to portray yourself and your life online so that others can easily access it; to comment, like, or share your life events. It is a way of being social without truly seeing that person. According to Rosen, social media resembles a modern manipulation, in a way that we portray what we want others to see and can distort the true essence of our being. The easy accessibility of social media it has allowed our culture to flourish in ways it has never before. Providing that technology has become so easily accessible, it has allowed one to effortlessly alternate and updates their social media. But this accessibility has caused a social anxiety in its user, causing a need to be like others; to be cool, or known. This idea of fame has made our generation of social media users monotonous and analogous. However, our easy accessibility to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King Do you really have a choice? Many people believe that there is no such thing as fate. That a person can decide their own fate and nothing is set in stone. Although, people today don t think the same as the people from the ancient societies. Back then, a person s fate was handed down from the gods to oracles and was decided before the child was born. People had no choice back then, what the gods say aren t taken lightly. But yet, people still attempted to trick fate and escape their destined paths. And in one of the many ancient greeks stories, Oedipus Rex, a major theme was do not try to outsmart fate . Throughout the story, many people attempted to escape or outsmart fate, but instead fate outsmarted them, leading them down their already chosen paths. Nevertheless, the main characters in Oedipus Rex, the kings and queen, who thought themselves worthy enough to test fate, seemed to be the ones to lose to fate in the end. It s important to realize, that the first ones to test fate were King Laios and Queen Jocasta. In Scene II, Jocasta tells Oedipus that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DACA is a program that allows young people from other countries to come live in the U.S with no risk of being deported. This program has helped roughly 665,000 people live in the U.S (Wolgin). Although it has become harder to live in the U.S many people still try and enter because they know America gives them an opportunity that no other country does. This is what continues to make America great. While a constant flow of people coming to America seems like a great idea to most, President elect Trump thinks the U.S need to limit the people it let in. During his campaign he said he would repeal DACA and kick out all illegal immigrants. His thought process behind this is that it will free up jobs for Americans. Trump is right that it will free up jobs as roughly 8 million illegal immigrants currently have jobs , but the issue is that Americans won t have the proper training to take all of these jobs (Krogstad). This will lead to companies not producing what they should and being forced to lay off people. So overall by kicking out all immigrants Trump will be costing many Americans jobs and could lead to another depression. Another thing that Trump has said he will do is build a wall around the U.S and Mexico. He has said he will get Mexico to pay for it and that he has a plan to do it, but nobody knows what that is. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
