Cesar Chavez s Authentic Activist Cesar Chavez
It is important to fight for what is right, like iconic activist Cesar Chavez had done.Chavez, a child of
Mexican American migrant farmers, was born in Arizona in 1927. He co founded the National Farm
Workers Association (NFWA) in 1962 and never stopped fighting for their rights. In 1970, Chavez
successfully pressured powerful grape growers to give farm workers a contract with fair rights, wages,
and respect. Cesar Chavez showed great courage and intelligence in helping the cause and
contributing to the civil rights movement. Cesar Chavez deserved to win the 2018 UnidosUS award
because of his effective use of economic pressure and he showed great perseverance. Cesar Chavez
deserved to win the award because he successfully used the strategy ... Show more content on

Cesar Chavez was a child of migrant workers and was born in 1927. He founded the NFWA, and he
never quit fighting for equality. Chavez, a former migrant worker said, I could dramatize it by saying
that I want to bring social justice to farm workers. But the truth is that I went through a lot of hell, and
a lot of people did. If we can even the score a little for the workers then we are doing something.
(Chavez, 2) This means that Chavez never gave up regardless of what he has been through. When
Chavez stated that he went through a lot, this shows that he never quit. Chavez s perseverance helped
the Chicanos get closer to their goal of equal rights. Despite what he had been through, he never
wanted to quit fighting. In addition, Cesar Chavez showed perseverance during a protest march from
Delano to Sacramento. Chavez, who was honored for his great activism, started the march to get the
attention of the country. As noted, during the 300 mile march, Chavez sprained his ankle. When told to
rest, Chavez declined and continued to march. (Viva La Causa, 2010) When Chavez decided to still
walk, it showed how passionate he was for the cause. This implies that Chavez never quit fighting,
even with a hurt ankle. Chavez s perseverance is yet another factor that helped the

A Quilted Balance Essay
The earth is filled with all sorts of substance, all sorts of matter. This is the fabric that sews it together.
That is how our faith should be, filled with all sorts us substance. We sew pieces of God s instructions
together for our faith to work and keep the seams nice and tight so the seam does not come lose. For
example, those pieces are belief, practice, knowledge, testing, exercising, growing pains, strength, and
stableness. All those substances are allowing for God to make us as a beautiful quilted blanket.
Faith cannot be seen with the physical eye. That is why the word says that we walk by faith and not by
sight. Each piece of fabric that we add to our faith makes up that quilted blanket, it starts takes up
space. The pieces fit together to fulfill a purpose. When we give faith a place in our lives, we are
allowing for God to do His will, His work in our lives. This allows for us to be protected and for us to
continue our walk to fulfill our purpose. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all the patches are the same size, they are not all perfect. Even though they are not all perfect you
can size them to one another to make one perfect patch that fits the blanket. With each added patch
you have to bind. The binding is what strengthens the quilt. It is the same thing with each added
instruction of obedience of the Word of God will strengthen your

What Is Homeostasis Why Is It So Important
1. What is homeostasis? Why is it so important? Homeostasis is maintaining constant internal
conditions regardless of changing external conditions. It is important because it is the key to survival
as without it the body would come to equilibrium with its environment which would result in death. 2.
What is the definition of anatomy? Describe the various methods used to study anatomy. Anatomy is
the study of structure and what makes up all the pieces parts of the human body. The easiest way to
study anatomy is observation, dissection is also needed to see structures found below the surface, and
there are other means of studying anatomy such as such as auscultation (listening) and percussion
(touching). 3. What is the definition of physiology? Describe how comparative physiology is used to
study physiology. Physiology is the study of function and how various body parts work. Comparative
physiology is the study of organisms closely related to humans in order to gain a better understanding
of the human model. 4. Name and describe the various levels of the hierarchy of complexity of the
human body. The levels of hierarchy of complexity are organism, organ system, organ, tissue, cells,
organelles, molecules, and atoms. An organism is composed of organ systems. Organ systems are
composed of organs. Organs are composed of tissues. Tissues are composed of cells. Cells are

Humanities Faire Analysis
The Humanities Faire was both an amazing and stressful challenge this year, which started in
September and ended in October. The ending was a showcase, but there was a long road before that to
get to where it ended. On the first day, we did a really rough overview of the time periods we wanted
to include, the characters, and what the main view to get across was. On September 1st, that is what
we looked at. Breaking into small groups, we got some ideas rolling and brought them to the big
group. After about a week of conversing and little researching, we came to one conclusion as to what
we wanted to get across: God can and will use different groups of people for his plans. Now that the
theme was found, we moved on to narrowing our times and people. For ... Show more content on

Looking at them, we narrowed down the groups of civilizations. Afterwards we each chose a group to
be in, and then we met with them. I personally was in the Persian group. As we met with our groups,
we conversed and decided what we personally would want to present and also the characters that
would be needed. Once each of us got characters, we researched them and brought our information to
the group to them down. Along with the evaluated information, we wrote a script and designed
costumes and set design. As the showcase drew closer, we tried to perfect as much as we could and
practiced our lines a lot. Within the final two weeks, the sets were going up and being painted. Games
were being created and lines were still being practiced. Our costumes were being found, and this all
led up to the dress rehearsal. During this day, we each ran through the whole faire, and as the other
groups were running through their parts, we either watched or finished our sets. This was a successful
practice, with a few things that needed improving, such as studying lines or performance techniques.
Then, it was the big day the

Research Paper On Queen Hatshepsut
Pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut
Allie Rupkalvis
Queen Hatshepsut of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt was one of the first known female pharaohs.
Born in 1507 BC, Hatshepsut was the longest reigning female pharaoh, who was in power from
almost twenty two years. Queen Hatshepsut is often considered to be one of the most successful
pharaohs in the history of ancient Egypt.
Daughter to Egyptian king, Thutmose I, and his principal wife, Ahmose, Hatshepsut was destined to
be the queen one day. King Thutmose I also had another child with one of his lesser wives, Thutmose
II. After her father s death, twelve year old Hatshepsut was married off to her half brother, Thutmose
II. Marrying within your family was common during that time period because they wanted to keep the
royal bloodline pure.
King Thutmose II s reigned over the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt for fifteen years, and Hatshepsut
took the traditional role as queen and principal wife. During Thutmose II and Hatshepsut s marriage,
Hatshepsut bore a daughter, Neferure, but no sons. However, Thutmose II had a male heir, Thutmose
III, with one of his lesser wives.
At the time of Thutmose II s death, Thutmose III was still an infant, unable to ascend the throne
unaided. Hatshepsut initially served as Thutmose III s regent, until, for reasons unknown, Hatshepsut
assumed the role of pharaoh. While Hatshepsut never officially gained possession of the crown
because Thutmose III was never uncrowned, it was clear that Hatshepsut was the primary ruler.
Under the reign of Hatshepsut, Egypt flourished. Hatshepsut focused on economic prosperity and
rebuilding and restoring monuments throughout Egypt, rather than battles and conquering new lands.
Hatshepsut is credited for a trading expedition to the land of Punt, ships returned from the island filled
with gold, ivory, ebony, and myrrh trees. One of Hatshepsut s greatest accomplishments as pharaoh
was the memorial temple at Deir el Bahri. Hatshepsut s Mortuary Temple is considered one of the
architectural wonders of ancient Egypt.
On Year 22, 11 Peret day 10 (January 16, 1458 BC) of her reign Hatshepsut died. After the mummified
Hatshepsut was found, a CT scan showed that she had suffered from bone cancer, diabetes, and

How United States Made the Miracle:
The Great Strategy in the Battle of Midway
Battle of Midway was one of the most famous battles in World War II, was the best navel warfare that
United States Navy had ever won. A lot of people like to call it a Miracle at Midway. It changed the
war situation of the Pacific Ocean Battle. After this battle, the Empire of Japan lost the superiority in
the Ocean.
Due to the troubles in China, and the economic sanctions form the United States and Europe; Japan
had to find more resources to support the war. After rejected the requirements of Western World, Japan
started to target Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, to defeat America in the Pacific Ocean became the most
important strategy.
On 7th December 1941, Japan launched a major surprise carrier based air strike on Pearl Harbor
without explicit warning, which crippled the United States Pacific Fleet, leaving eight American
battleships out of action, 188 American aircraft destroyed, and 2,403 American citizens dead.
In the spring of 1942, a few months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Empire of Japan planned to
attack southern New Guinea, to knock Australia and New Zealand. The Allies, including the United
States, and Australia, assembled a large fleet in the Coral Sea to block the Empire of Japan. After
several days of searching and fighting, the Japanese and Allied fleets found each other on May 8 and
sent aircraft to attack the

Differences In The Outsiders Movie And Novel
The Outsiders movie and novel are both great. After finishing both I found out they are very similar ,
but they also have some differences. The movie and novel both share similarities that are very alike.
For example , both have the same characters , the church burns down , and the greasers and Socs both
hate each other. They might have these major similarities ,but they have a lot of very minor
differences. In The Outsiders there are a lot of similarities . For example , the church that Ponyboy and
Johnny stayed in burnt down . The story takes place in Tulsa Oklahoma . They might be similar , but
they have some differences as well . A major difference is that in the book the greasers live on the East

Social Issues In Brave New World
The people who govern the Brave New World may not be sane; but they are not madmen, and their
aim is not anarchy, but social stability. In the novel, Brave New World, the motto is: Community,
Identity, and Stability. (1)This motto is very satirical due to the scientific advancement identifying
who people are and who they associate with and the humans are far from stable. Aldous Huxley
portrays the political and social issues in the novel by using imagery, diction, and allusions to bring a
connection to similar hardships in1930 s.
Imagery is used a lot throughout Brave New World especially in the form of comparing humans to
animals. It is repeatedly stated strait from the horse s mouth , and when foster says that any cow could
merely hatch out embryos.(1) Another example, is how humans are born in hatcheries rather than
hospitals. There is also fertilizing rooms for humans, that process would normally happen with plants.
Animals are usually under control and are conditioned to act right just like humans in this society. It s
as if the government is the owners and all the people are the pets. Huxley seems to be dehumanizing
the people of the world state. In Germany Hitler was in some way dehumanizing the Jews and they
were being treated like animals and being controlled.
With this perspective the question may arise, who is actually more animal like the savages or the
people of the world state?
Todd 2
Diction plays a huge role in the novel. Huxley s uses diction to paint a

The Failure Of Power In George Orwell s Animal Farm
No one knows for sure how many people were murdered during Stalin s Great Purge, but estimates
put the figure at more than 1 million. Over the course of his reign, Joseph Stalin has executed and
imprisoned perceived threats to his power. During the three public trails of former prominent
Communist Party leaders, and plenty of other private trails held, the defendants have been charged
under pretenses fabricated by the NKVD, the Soviet Secret Police. The defendants have fully
confessed to their crimes in court after facing intense beatings, sleep deprivation, and threats to arrest
and execute their families. However, the West has continued to see Stalin and the Soviet Union
favorably. This has urged George Orwell to write Animal Farm so he can expose the truth about the
Soviet regime. In Animal Farm, the author George Orwell uses the manipulation, and fear of the
leaders and the naivety, and loyalty of the followers to contribute to the theme of loss of freedom and
equality in order to show how power can lead to corruption. Orwell uses the manipulation of the
leaders to contribute to the theme of loss of freedom and equality in order to show how power can lead
to corruption. As stated in the text, The windmill however, had not after all been used for generating
electrical power. It was used for milling corn, and brought in a handsome money profit (Orwell 129).

Heuristics And Systematic Decision Errors
Heuristics and systematic decision errors are made even in extremely large or important purchases. A
year ago, my sister and her husband moved to Houston from New York City and decided to purchase
their first house. Having never lived in Houston, or purchased a house, they had very little inherent
knowledge about the local real estate market or experience with what their lifestyle was going to be.
Their decisions therefore would be based almost entirely on published data and first hand house visits.
Jennifer and Jimmy are both medical doctors, eminently rational and meticulous about their finances,
their careers, and life planning. When deciding which medical residency programs to apply to, a 100
row spreadsheet was constructed, detailing and weighting each desirability factor. They trusted the
same analytical approach with their house purchase decision; for the purposes of this discussion I ve
condensed their table as follows:
House A
House B
Commute Time
45 minutes
10 minutes
Quality of Space
High
Medium
Relative Price
200,000
200,000
While Jennifer and Jimmy recognized that the daily Commute Time was an important attribute, it
ended up being severely underweighted in their final decision. Having just moved from New York
City, neither had ever dealt with traffic or extended highway driving on a regular basis. While it was
obvious that a 10 minute commute is quantitatively better than a 45 minute one, the qualitative
difference to happiness and lifestyle was very hard for

A Case Study Of 27 Working Class Students Across The Uk...
This is a case study of 27 working class students across the UK higher education institutions looking
at the different sociological understanding of student identification to determine their social and
academic aspects ( Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. 2010). In 2010 the year which this paper was
written statistics from the U.K Universities and College Admissions Services (UCAS) showed that the
24.72% of those accepted were from the four lowest socio economic groups in 2005 and in the
previous year it was 25.62% (Shepherd, 2007).
The aim of the whole paper was to find out if students from a working class background felt as if they
were fitting in or if they felt as if they were standing out when it came to attending higher education
studies (Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. (2010). They study was carried across four institutions
of higher learning comprising of Southern elite university, Civic in the Midlands, s post 1922 in the
North and a college of further education in the East of England. The selection for these universities
was to get a cross section of experiences by working class students (Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton,
J. (2010),

Critical Analysis Of A Neural Network
First, we have encountered one major problem that is how to interpret a neural network given its black
box characteristics. We really wanted to try ourselves, giving interpretation of our results so that we

1991. In « Illuminating the black box: a randomization approach for understanding variable
contributions in artificial neural networks », Olden and al. describes Garson s algorithm very
concisely so that we could create a user defined function on Python that replicates the method. The
interpretation of the method is provided below. The outputs of the different algorithms in the context

The BM ratio allows us to categorize companies into either a growth (low BM ratio) or a value (high
BM ratio) profile and past empirical studies (see Fama and French) suggest that portfolios formed
over value companies tend to out perform portfolios formed over growth companies over time. We
don t know the influence direction of the variable (given the PCA black box transformation and
Garson s output) but we can formulate hypotheses on the fact that value companies tend to beat the
market more often than growth companies. Dividend yield and EVtoEBITDA that are our 2nd and 3rd
most relevant variables for Neural Nework output also support this previous fact high dividend yield
paying companies characterize generally value companies, while the EVtoEBITDA ratio characterize
the relative price of a company since it returns how many times an investor is willing to buy the
EBITDA (Earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of a company when he
purchases a share of the company. An investor that invests in high EVtoEBITDA companies has
generally good growth prospects views regarding the recurrent earnings of the company. Finally, the

Assessing Microsoft s Corporate Strategy Development and...
Assessing Microsoft s Corporate Strategy Development and Governance
Introduction Microsoft has one of the most pervasive portfolios of software applications, services and
products globally, equally effective in gaining and keeping customers in the consumer, small business
and enterprise markets. The series of broad business models that comprise the company require
intensive levels of governance, risk and compliance management (Ali, Green, 2012). Microsoft
operates in over 160 different nations and needs to balance the many requirements of internal and
external stakeholders while also meeting governance and compliance requirements globally.
Balancing the three strategic priorities of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) requires intensive
levels of stakeholder ownership, participation, support in addition to the precise defining of financial
and strategic controls as well. GRC considerations are often managed at the board of director level
where it is common to find frameworks designed to balance each area of GRC performance in
conjunction with a series of analytics and metrics of performance to evaluate relative progress over
time (Frigo, Anderson, 2009).
As Microsoft is often at the center of litigation and foreign government inquiries regarding their
competitive market and pricing practices, the frameworks used within the company are
multidimensional and often used for long range GRC planning and performance management. GRC
frameworks are indispensable to boards

Examples Of Friar Lawrence
In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, I believe that Friar Lawrence is responsible for Juliet s and Romeo

the situation they are dealing with. He is also saying that they can prevent the execution by following

Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman
Critical Essay
In Arthur Millers Death of a salesman we encounter an on going feud between salesman Willy Loman
and his son Biff Loman. In Willy s eyes the key to gaining success in life is to be well liked, attractive
and having a great personality, he is convinced if you have all these traits it guarantees you success
and that you could outrun those with qualifications in terms of being employed.
Willy bestows this theory of his onto his sons Biff and Happy during their teenage years. During Biffs
High School years he attains the captain position for the school s football team which gave Willy
another reason to believe that he and his son were on track to achieving the American Dream. Willy is
more than convinced at this point that they are both heading down the same path: to be known, to
achieve success and to be liked.
When Biff fails his maths exam during his senior year in high school he loses all hope, furthermore he
discovers Willys involvement with another woman after he decided to pay Willy a surprise visit. This
heavily influences their relationship they had as Biff realises the ugly truth and felt betrayed by his
father.
Willy has soaring expectations of Biff, however Biff fails to meet his father expectations, and hides his
failures from Willy in order to keep him happy. Even after Biff flunks maths, Willy still believes Biff
can make it . He doesn t believe this because Biff is his son, but rather because Biff is a handsome

Diagnosis And Treatment Of Adhd
Another developing concern in regard to the prevalence of ADHD is that there is a growing shifts in
the onset span and in the population currently diagnosed with ADHD. A clinical practice guideline
published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (2011) reported the expansion of the age range in
regard to diagnosis and treatment of ADHD from 6 through 12 years of age to 4 through 18 years of
age. More recent studies substantiated that a majority of ADHD cases persists well into adulthood in
spite of the widespread recognition of this neurodevelopmental disorder s onset for which it only
occurs in childhood and adolescent years (Simon, Czobor, Balint, Meszaros, Bitter, 2009).
Furthermore, some adults are diagnosed with ADHD without having been diagnosed previously
(National Resource Center on ADHD, 2013). Moreover, Asherson et al. (2012) raised a crucial
argument in their research that adults with ADHD likely underestimate or ignore the influence brought

New Mexico Suarez
Writing Assignment #6
The history of more than fifty million Latinos in the United States is your history too, Suarez stated in
his book. His argument was that no matter how you see it, the Latin culture is part of your life in the
US no matter what ethnicity you are. He wrote this book to let his readers learn and know about the
Latino history in the territories, where it is now considered as California, New Mexico, Arizona, and
Texas. Suarez wants his readers to know that the Spanish culture has been in those areas ever since the
people of Mexico City traveled North in search for gold. He reveals this by stating that the first
language heard in those territories was Spanish and the earliest land titles were granted to Spanish
families (Suarez). Some Americans may not believe the fact about Spain owning part of the land;
however, there is evidence that supports that fact. There are literally signs around California, Texas,
and etc. that demonstrates the Spanish language. Suarez states that more Americans unwittingly speak
Spanish every day, heading into a Luby s luncheonette in El Paso, the pass, sitting in traffic in San
Diego, Saint James ... (Suarez). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exactly how the Spaniards enforced their culture to the Native people, the English obligated the
Mexicans to take up the English culture and to switch sides by remaining faithful to the US. This
process is known as convergence. Convergence is when someone converts to a different religion,
culture, and lifestyle. In the first chapter The Convergence Begins, Suarez described examples that
explain convergence, such as the Native people converting to the missionary lifestyle, Lorenzana s
story, and Seguin s story about his loyalty to the

Mere Christianity Book 1 Summary
Book 3 of Mere Christianity contains 12 separate chapters, which has far too great a scope to address
properly here, so a glimpse will have to suffice. In the first, Lewis examines three components of
morality; the relations between men, the interior moral mechanics of a man, and the relationship
between a man and the God who made him. Lewis makes the case that, since we are destined to live
forever in one state or another, it is desperately important that we pay attention to the sort of Being we
are becoming. Lewis points out that most of humanity can agree that keeping relations between men
running smoothly are important, but varying world views and religions or lack of religion, have
produced some disagreements on the necessity of keeping one s own ship in order, as it were, and it
completely breaks down when the relationship between a man and his Maker are addressed, as there is
virtually no agreement there.
In the second section, he outlines the principle, or cardinal virtues: Prudence, Temperance, Justice and
Fortitude, which could also be termed wisdom, self control, fairness, equity, and steadfastness. He
uses the vivid illustration of an athlete, or mathematician who practices a virtue, making a shot in
tennis, or solving problems till they become internalized, a part of the person who disciplined himself
to perfect them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Anxiety Of Anxiety And Hopelessness
Introduction
Hopelessness
Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are common in people who are unhappy. There are also
some most irritating, annoying and depress feelings that repress individual s skill. Cognitive theory of
depression research has shown that people with depression are struggling with the feelings of
hopelessness instead of people who have no depression (Sacco and Beck, 1995). A sense of
hopelessness reflects a negative view of the outlook. This includes failure, and a persistence of pain
and difficulty, and expectations of personal pleasure, a belief that nothing will get better. Thoughts of
negative self also reflect by hopelessness. Depressed individuals view themselves more
unresponsively, their self esteem suffers, and they have little or no self confidence. They do not
believe they have any control or that they can help themselves to feel better. They may have an urge to
give up and think, What s the use? Research has also indicated that severe hopelessness may be a
forecaster of suicide (Beck, 1987; Fawcett, 1990) Hopelessness is conceptualized as an individual s
negative anticipation regarding the future and it is characterized by negative emotions, pessimistic
expectations, and loss of happiness in life (Beck, Weismann, Lester, and Trexler, 1974; Heliman,
Coffey Lover, Frutos. 2004) Hopelessness is having no expectations of good or success, despondent,
not vulnerable to remedy or cure, incapable of redemption or improvement.

Examples Of Short Stories
When people interact with one another, they will leave impacts on one another. These imprints can
take only seconds of someone s time, but those imprints can last a lifetime. The short stories All
Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury, Through the Tunnel by Doris Lessing, and The Veldt by Ray
Bradbury are fine examples of the impact of parental figures in upbringings.
The three stories setting s are similar because they set up for the plot. For instance, in All Summer in a
Day, the author describes the setting as, It had been raining for seven years; thousand upon thousands
of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain, with the drum and gush of water,
with the sweet crystal fall of showers and the concussion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In All Summer in a Day, for example, {The Children} surged about her, caught her up and bore her,
protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a room, a closet, where they
slammed and locked the door. They stood looking at the door and saw it tremble from her beating and
throwing herself against it. They heard her muffled cries. Then, smiling, they turned and went out and
back down the tunnel, just as the teacher arrived. The children react in a bullying fashion to Margot
because they had not been taught better. Another reference in Through the Tunnel of parenting
indecision is She was thinking, Of course he s old enough to be safe without me. Have I been keeping
him too close? He mustn t feel he ought to be with me. I must be careful. He was an only child, eleven
years old. She was a widow. She was determined to be neither possessive nor lacking in devotion. She
went worrying off to her beach. Jerry strikes out on his own because of his mother s free range
parenting. In the third story, He heard Peter s voice outside, against the door. Don t let them switch off
the nursery and the house, he was saying. Mr. and Mrs. George Hadley beat at the door. Now, don t be
ridiculous, children. It s time to go. Mr. McClean ll be here in a minute and... And then they heard the

Motherhood
The story To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee takes place in a fictional town of Maycomb,
Alabama, this is based on Lee s hometown of Monroeville, Alabama. In the story Calpurnia is the
maid for the Finch family, because in the 1930 s it was still common for negroes to work as house
servants for low pay and little respect. Calpurnia is the only present female figure in the Finch
household, which in a sense makes her the mother to Scout and Jem. Atticus and Calpurnia are both
parents to the children, but Calpurnia is more of a stickler especially since she has already had
children of her own. Cal embraces her second motherhood to do the best possible job at hoping she
can make a difference in their lives which was not present with her biological children. In the story
Scout and Calpurnia share many parallels with a mother and daughter. For instance, She was always
ordering me out of the kitchen, asking me why I couldn t behave as well as Jem when she knew he
was older, and calling me home when I wasn t ready to come (Lee 6). This shares many similarities
with the epic battles that mothers and children face through raising their children and growing up,
given my parents are sticklers I have been in my fair share of wars. Growing up in my house and
being at my friends behavior, getting out of the kitchen, and getting called inside was, and still is a
vicious cycle constantly in motion enacted by our mothers and is

Cesar Chavez s Authentic Activist Cesar Chavez It is important to fight for what is right, like iconic activist Cesar Chavez had done.Chavez, a child of Mexican American migrant farmers, was born in Arizona in 1927. He co founded the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) in 1962 and never stopped fighting for their rights. In 1970, Chavez successfully pressured powerful grape growers to give farm workers a contract with fair rights, wages, and respect. Cesar Chavez showed great courage and intelligence in helping the cause and contributing to the civil rights movement. He founded the NFWA, and he never quit fighting for equality. Chavez, a former migrant worker said, I could dramatize it by saying that I want to bring social justice to farm workers. But the truth is that I went through a lot of hell, and a lot of people did. If we can even the score a little for the workers then we are doing something. (Chavez, 2) This means that Chavez never gave up regardless of what he has been through. When Chavez stated that he went through a lot, this shows that he never quit. Chavez s perseverance helped the Chicanos get closer to their goal of equal rights. Despite what he had been through, he never wanted to quit fighting. In addition, Cesar Chavez showed perseverance during a protest march from Delano to Sacramento. Chavez, who was honored for his great activism, started the march to get the attention of the country. As noted, during the 300 mile march, Chavez sprained his ankle. When told to rest, Chavez declined and continued to march. (Viva La Causa, 2010) When Chavez decided to still walk, it showed how passionate he was for the cause. This implies that Chavez never quit fighting, even with a hurt ankle. That is how our faith should be, filled with all sorts us substance. We sew pieces of God s instructions together for our faith to work and keep the seams nice and tight so the seam does not come lose. For example, those pieces are belief, practice, knowledge, testing, exercising, growing pains, strength, and stableness. All those substances are allowing for God to make us as a beautiful quilted blanket. Faith cannot be seen with the physical eye. That is why the word says that we walk by faith and not by sight. Each piece of fabric that we add to our faith makes up that quilted blanket, it starts takes up space. The pieces fit together to fulfill a purpose. • 6. Humanities Faire Analysis The Humanities Faire was both an amazing and stressful challenge this year, which started in September and ended in October. The ending was a showcase, but there was a long road before that to get to where it ended. On the first day, we did a really rough overview of the time periods we wanted to include, the characters, and what the main view to get across was. On September 1st, that is what we looked at. Breaking into small groups, we got some ideas rolling and brought them to the big group. After about a week of conversing and little researching, we came to one conclusion as to what we wanted to get across: God can and will use different groups of people for his plans. Now that the theme was found, we moved on to narrowing our times and people. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at them, we narrowed down the groups of civilizations. Once each of us got characters, we researched them and brought our information to the group to them down. Along with the evaluated information, we wrote a script and designed costumes and set design. As the showcase drew closer, we tried to perfect as much as we could and practiced our lines a lot. Within the final two weeks, the sets were going up and being painted. Games were being created and lines were still being practiced. Our costumes were being found, and this all led up to the dress rehearsal. • 7. Research Paper On Queen Hatshepsut Pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut Allie Rupkalvis Queen Hatshepsut of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt was one of the first known female pharaohs. Born in 1507 BC, Hatshepsut was the longest reigning female pharaoh, who was in power from almost twenty two years. Queen Hatshepsut is often considered to be one of the most successful pharaohs in the history of ancient Egypt. Daughter to Egyptian king, Thutmose I, and his principal wife, Ahmose, Hatshepsut was destined to be the queen one day. King Thutmose I also had another child with one of his lesser wives, Thutmose II. After her father s death, twelve year old Hatshepsut was married off to her half brother, Thutmose II. Marrying within your family was common during that time period because they wanted to keep the royal bloodline pure. King Thutmose II s reigned over the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt for fifteen years, and Hatshepsut took the traditional role as queen and principal wife. During Thutmose II and Hatshepsut s marriage, Hatshepsut bore a daughter, Neferure, but no sons. However, Thutmose II had a male heir, Thutmose III, with one of his lesser wives. At the time of Thutmose II s death, Thutmose III was still an infant, unable to ascend the throne unaided. Hatshepsut initially served as Thutmose III s regent, until, for reasons unknown, Hatshepsut assumed the role of pharaoh. While Hatshepsut never officially gained possession of the crown because Thutmose III was never uncrowned, it was clear that Hatshepsut was the primary ruler. Under the reign of Hatshepsut, Egypt flourished. Hatshepsut focused on economic prosperity and rebuilding and restoring monuments throughout Egypt, rather than battles and conquering new lands. Hatshepsut is credited for a trading expedition to the land of Punt, ships returned from the island filled with gold, ivory, ebony, and myrrh trees. One of Hatshepsut s greatest accomplishments as pharaoh was the memorial temple at Deir el Bahri. Hatshepsut s Mortuary Temple is considered one of the architectural wonders of ancient Egypt. On Year 22, 11 Peret day 10 (January 16, 1458 BC) of her reign Hatshepsut died. After the mummified Hatshepsut was found, a CT scan showed that she had suffered from bone cancer, diabetes, and ... A lot of people like to call it a Miracle at Midway. It changed the war situation of the Pacific Ocean Battle. After this battle, the Empire of Japan lost the superiority in the Ocean. Due to the troubles in China, and the economic sanctions form the United States and Europe; Japan had to find more resources to support the war. After rejected the requirements of Western World, Japan started to target Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, to defeat America in the Pacific Ocean became the most important strategy. On 7th December 1941, Japan launched a major surprise carrier based air strike on Pearl Harbor without explicit warning, which crippled the United States Pacific Fleet, leaving eight American battleships out of action, 188 American aircraft destroyed, and 2,403 American citizens dead. In the spring of 1942, a few months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Empire of Japan planned to attack southern New Guinea, to knock Australia and New Zealand. • 10. Social Issues In Brave New World The people who govern the Brave New World may not be sane; but they are not madmen, and their aim is not anarchy, but social stability. In the novel, Brave New World, the motto is: Community, Identity, and Stability. (1)This motto is very satirical due to the scientific advancement identifying who people are and who they associate with and the humans are far from stable. Aldous Huxley portrays the political and social issues in the novel by using imagery, diction, and allusions to bring a connection to similar hardships in1930 s. Imagery is used a lot throughout Brave New World especially in the form of comparing humans to animals. It is repeatedly stated strait from the horse s mouth , and when foster says that any cow could merely hatch out embryos.(1) Another example, is how humans are born in hatcheries rather than hospitals. There is also fertilizing rooms for humans, that process would normally happen with plants. Animals are usually under control and are conditioned to act right just like humans in this society. It s as if the government is the owners and all the people are the pets. Huxley seems to be dehumanizing the people of the world state. In Germany Hitler was in some way dehumanizing the Jews and they were being treated like animals and being controlled. With this perspective the question may arise, who is actually more animal like the savages or the people of the world state? Todd 2 Diction plays a huge role in the novel. Huxley s uses diction to paint a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Failure Of Power In George Orwell s Animal Farm No one knows for sure how many people were murdered during Stalin s Great Purge, but estimates put the figure at more than 1 million. Over the course of his reign, Joseph Stalin has executed and imprisoned perceived threats to his power. During the three public trails of former prominent Communist Party leaders, and plenty of other private trails held, the defendants have been charged under pretenses fabricated by the NKVD, the Soviet Secret Police. The defendants have fully confessed to their crimes in court after facing intense beatings, sleep deprivation, and threats to arrest and execute their families. However, the West has continued to see Stalin and the Soviet Union favorably. This has urged George Orwell to write Animal Farm so he can expose the truth about the Soviet regime. In Animal Farm, the author George Orwell uses the manipulation, and fear of the leaders and the naivety, and loyalty of the followers to contribute to the theme of loss of freedom and equality in order to show how power can lead to corruption. Orwell uses the manipulation of the leaders to contribute to the theme of loss of freedom and equality in order to show how power can lead to corruption. As stated in the text, The windmill however, had not after all been used for generating electrical power. It was used for milling corn, and brought in a handsome money profit (Orwell 129). • 12. Heuristics And Systematic Decision Errors Heuristics and systematic decision errors are made even in extremely large or important purchases. A year ago, my sister and her husband moved to Houston from New York City and decided to purchase their first house. Having never lived in Houston, or purchased a house, they had very little inherent knowledge about the local real estate market or experience with what their lifestyle was going to be. Their decisions therefore would be based almost entirely on published data and first hand house visits. Jennifer and Jimmy are both medical doctors, eminently rational and meticulous about their finances, their careers, and life planning. When deciding which medical residency programs to apply to, a 100 row spreadsheet was constructed, detailing and weighting each desirability factor. They trusted the same analytical approach with their house purchase decision; for the purposes of this discussion I ve condensed their table as follows: House A House B Commute Time 45 minutes 10 minutes Quality of Space High Medium Relative Price 200,000 200,000 While Jennifer and Jimmy recognized that the daily Commute Time was an important attribute, it ended up being severely underweighted in their final decision. Having just moved from New York City, neither had ever dealt with traffic or extended highway driving on a regular basis. While it was obvious that a 10 minute commute is quantitatively better than a 45 minute one, the qualitative difference to happiness and lifestyle was very hard for ... This is a case study of 27 working class students across the UK higher education institutions looking at the different sociological understanding of student identification to determine their social and academic aspects ( Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. 2010). In 2010 the year which this paper was written statistics from the U.K Universities and College Admissions Services (UCAS) showed that the 24.72% of those accepted were from the four lowest socio economic groups in 2005 and in the previous year it was 25.62% (Shepherd, 2007). The aim of the whole paper was to find out if students from a working class background felt as if they were fitting in or if they felt as if they were standing out when it came to attending higher education studies (Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. (2010). They study was carried across four institutions of higher learning comprising of Southern elite university, Civic in the Midlands, s post 1922 in the North and a college of further education in the East of England. The selection for these universities was to get a cross section of experiences by working class students (Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. (2010), Literature Review The weaknesses of this section lie in the researchers lack of relevant articles regarding U.K institutions. In « Illuminating the black box: a randomization approach for understanding variable contributions in artificial neural networks », Olden and al. describes Garson s algorithm very concisely so that we could create a user defined function on Python that replicates the method. • 18. Assessing Microsoft s Corporate Strategy Development and... Assessing Microsoft s Corporate Strategy Development and Governance Introduction Microsoft has one of the most pervasive portfolios of software applications, services and products globally, equally effective in gaining and keeping customers in the consumer, small business and enterprise markets. The series of broad business models that comprise the company require intensive levels of governance, risk and compliance management (Ali, Green, 2012). Microsoft operates in over 160 different nations and needs to balance the many requirements of internal and external stakeholders while also meeting governance and compliance requirements globally. Balancing the three strategic priorities of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) requires intensive levels of stakeholder ownership, participation, support in addition to the precise defining of financial and strategic controls as well. GRC considerations are often managed at the board of director level where it is common to find frameworks designed to balance each area of GRC performance in conjunction with a series of analytics and metrics of performance to evaluate relative progress over time (Frigo, Anderson, 2009). As Microsoft is often at the center of litigation and foreign government inquiries regarding their competitive market and pricing practices, the frameworks used within the company are multidimensional and often used for long range GRC planning and performance management. GRC frameworks are indispensable to boards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Diagnosis And Treatment Of Adhd Another developing concern in regard to the prevalence of ADHD is that there is a growing shifts in the onset span and in the population currently diagnosed with ADHD. A clinical practice guideline published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (2011) reported the expansion of the age range in regard to diagnosis and treatment of ADHD from 6 through 12 years of age to 4 through 18 years of age. More recent studies substantiated that a majority of ADHD cases persists well into adulthood in spite of the widespread recognition of this neurodevelopmental disorder s onset for which it only occurs in childhood and adolescent years (Simon, Czobor, Balint, Meszaros, Bitter, 2009). Furthermore, some adults are diagnosed with ADHD without having been diagnosed previously (National Resource Center on ADHD, 2013). Moreover, Asherson et al. (2012) raised a crucial argument in their research that adults with ADHD likely underestimate or ignore the influence brought by the disorder and attempt to compensate for or rationalize the deficiencies by adapting lifestyle that works for them. Thus, it is likely that the current prevalence of ADHD in adults is underreported. Essentially, it indicates that ADHD is a life long neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorder attributed to a sophisticated combination of genetic and environment components. As ADHD is categorized in neurodevelopmental disorders in the DSM 5, this psychiatric disorder involves selective impairment in relation to neurological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. New Mexico Suarez Writing Assignment #6 The history of more than fifty million Latinos in the United States is your history too, Suarez stated in his book. His argument was that no matter how you see it, the Latin culture is part of your life in the US no matter what ethnicity you are. He wrote this book to let his readers learn and know about the Latino history in the territories, where it is now considered as California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. Suarez wants his readers to know that the Spanish culture has been in those areas ever since the people of Mexico City traveled North in search for gold. He reveals this by stating that the first language heard in those territories was Spanish and the earliest land titles were granted to Spanish families (Suarez). Some Americans may not believe the fact about Spain owning part of the land; however, there is evidence that supports that fact. There are literally signs around California, Texas, and etc. that demonstrates the Spanish language. • 27. Mere Christianity Book 1 Summary Book 3 of Mere Christianity contains 12 separate chapters, which has far too great a scope to address properly here, so a glimpse will have to suffice. In the first, Lewis examines three components of morality; the relations between men, the interior moral mechanics of a man, and the relationship between a man and the God who made him. Lewis makes the case that, since we are destined to live forever in one state or another, it is desperately important that we pay attention to the sort of Being we are becoming. Lewis points out that most of humanity can agree that keeping relations between men running smoothly are important, but varying world views and religions or lack of religion, have produced some disagreements on the necessity of keeping one s own ship in order, as it were, and it completely breaks down when the relationship between a man and his Maker are addressed, as there is virtually no agreement there. In the second section, he outlines the principle, or cardinal virtues: Prudence, Temperance, Justice and Fortitude, which could also be termed wisdom, self control, fairness, equity, and steadfastness. He uses the vivid illustration of an athlete, or mathematician who practices a virtue, making a shot in tennis, or solving problems till they become internalized, a part of the person who disciplined himself to perfect them. ... • 29. The Anxiety Of Anxiety And Hopelessness Introduction Hopelessness Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are common in people who are unhappy. There are also some most irritating, annoying and depress feelings that repress individual s skill. Cognitive theory of depression research has shown that people with depression are struggling with the feelings of hopelessness instead of people who have no depression (Sacco and Beck, 1995). A sense of hopelessness reflects a negative view of the outlook. This includes failure, and a persistence of pain and difficulty, and expectations of personal pleasure, a belief that nothing will get better. Thoughts of negative self also reflect by hopelessness. Depressed individuals view themselves more unresponsively, their self esteem suffers, and they have little or no self confidence. They do not believe they have any control or that they can help themselves to feel better. They may have an urge to give up and think, What s the use? Research has also indicated that severe hopelessness may be a forecaster of suicide (Beck, 1987; Fawcett, 1990) Hopelessness is conceptualized as an individual s negative anticipation regarding the future and it is characterized by negative emotions, pessimistic expectations, and loss of happiness in life (Beck, Weismann, Lester, and Trexler, 1974; Heliman, Coffey Lover, Frutos. 2004) Hopelessness is having no expectations of good or success, despondent, not vulnerable to remedy or cure, incapable of redemption or improvement. • 31. Theme Of Childhood In To Kill A Mockingbird Evan Carlson 11 15 17 Adv Eng 4th Motherhood The story To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee takes place in a fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, this is based on Lee s hometown of Monroeville, Alabama. In the story Calpurnia is the maid for the Finch family, because in the 1930 s it was still common for negroes to work as house servants for low pay and little respect. Calpurnia is the only present female figure in the Finch household, which in a sense makes her the mother to Scout and Jem. Atticus and Calpurnia are both parents to the children, but Calpurnia is more of a stickler especially since she has already had children of her own. Cal embraces her second motherhood to do the best possible job at hoping she can make a difference in their lives which was not present with her biological children. In the story Scout and Calpurnia share many parallels with a mother and daughter. For instance, She was always ordering me out of the kitchen, asking me why I couldn t behave as well as Jem when she knew he was older, and calling me home when I wasn t ready to come (Lee 6). This shares many similarities with the epic battles that mothers and children face through raising their children and growing up, given my parents are sticklers I have been in my fair share of wars. Growing up in my house and being at my friends behavior, getting out of the kitchen, and getting called inside was, and still is a vicious cycle constantly in motion enacted by our mothers and is ...
