Why Do People Commit Crimes In The 16th Century
Crimes and Punishments in the 16th Century
The punishments in the 16th century were extremely firm and horrifying for criminals. People who
committed crimes in the 16th century had to face serious punishments, such as the rack, weight placed
on breast, and were placed on a sharp stone. Not to mention in this time period, people were living in
poverty and some people could not find money to buy food for their families. The population of
England was growing faster than food resources. One result of this was occasional and localized food
shortages so severe as to occasion hunger, starvation, and death (Morgan 288). In addition, many
people did not have money even to buy basic things they needed to survive and many of them became
criminals in the eye of the 16th century law. Punishments in the 16th century were unjust able for
crimes such as begging, theft, and treason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Begging may seem okay, but it is a crime in the 16th century. Punishments may include the scavenger
s daughter, the iron maiden, and the branding iron. The scavenger s daughter is the opposite of the
rack, which were on the rack, a victim s legs and arms were tied to bars at either end of the device, and
rollers were then used to stretch the body. The tension was maintained and gradually increased by use
of a ratchet. This caused terrible pain for the victim as well as increasing physical damage as the
torture continued. Tendons were ripped, joints separated and bones fractured. The sounds of muscles
and tendons tearing and snapping provided audible signs of the damage being done (Crime in Tudor
and Stuart England). The iron maiden is a sarcophagus with spikes and the branding iron is a hot

Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals
1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on organisational
performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its members could display
varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to maintain affiliation while others
may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond their stipulated job description and
likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli: 2005). This latter behaviour where the
employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in such activities has been described by various
nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in
Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour (Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual
performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB
has been one of the important and popular research subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the
most preferred employee level outcomes at workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983,
Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in
the early 1980s, the origins of this concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized
three distinct behavioural entities for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes
induction and retention of the workforce in the organisation, employees performing specific
dependable job roles in addition to

Wartime Propaganda During World War II
Wartime propaganda has always been a beneficial tool for warring nations. Its ability to effectively
persuade, influence, and convince citizens even in a time of distress has made it a vital component of
many war engaged countries. The United States, for example, reaped great benefits by using war
propaganda in World War II. American propaganda helped dramatically increase the sale of war
bonds, rate of civic engagement, and public morale. Although American propaganda during World
War II can be considered as extremely biased and racist, it would have been more difficult to for the
Americans to defeat Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany if propaganda was not used at all. The general
concept of propaganda, information or news intentionally spread ... Show more content on

Euphoric advertisements and posters were made to promote the United States and its allies strength,
courage and bravery. A well known example is the 1943 poster, United We Are Strong, United We
Will Win , displaying artillery guns decorated with the flags of the Allies, all firing in unison. Along
with boosting morale, many enthusiastic posters also encouraged women to join the workforce and to
convince their male partners that this activity was normal. As a result, the employment of women
jumped 15 percent from 1941 to 1943. Unfortunately, the United States government also engaged in
racism and discrimination to foster enthusiasm. Many posters and videos were created demonizing the
Japanese, representing them as subhuman and animalistic. Although this type of propaganda
motivated soldiers to fight by making the Japanese seem barbaric and savage, it also worsened
Japanese Americans relationships on home soil. Americans started to discriminate Japanese even
more, eventually forcing them out of their homes and placing them in internment camps, where they
were separated from American

Steganography Is The Method Of Hiding A Secret Message
Abstract: Steganography is the method of hiding a secret message with in a cover medium. The
intention of steganography is secret communication to hide the existence of a message from a third
party. It has found use in variously in diplomatic, personal, military and intellectual property
application. This paper emphasis is on digital applications and current and future use of
steganography, focusing on hiding information in online image files. Examples of software tools that
employ steganography to hide data inside of other files as well as software to detect such hidden files
will also be presented.
Introduction: In today s information technology era, the internet has played a crucial part in the
communication and information sharing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of those use redundant bits to replace by message bits. Therefore Text steganography is not a
famous technique; rather it is less likely used as a cover medium as it contains less redundant
information. Similarly audio and video steganography are less used method for their large size and
complex algorithm for compression and coding. Again in protocol steganography, messages are
inserted in network layer. Which may result in increasing the network congestion. So image
embedding is a famous technique in the area of steganography because it contains larger amount of
redundant bits and changes in least significant bit is unrealizable to human eye. In short:
steganography_medium = hidden message + carrier + key
Digital Image Carrier Methods:
In digital steganography techniques mostly graphical images file are used as the carrier medium
because of large amount of redundant bits and its simplicity. Messages can be hidden in digital media
in number of ways. The most common steganography method in image files employs some type of
least significant bit substitution or overwriting. In this method high order or most significant bit is the
one with the highest arithmetic value (i.e., 27=128), while the low order or least significant bit is the
one with the lowest arithmetic value (i.e., 20=1). In this approach only few bits of image are
overwritten by the message (ASCII) value, the numeric value of the byte

Mutual Mistakes In Business Law Essay
Mutual Mistakes in Contract Law
This situation raises some questions for me. Did the manufacturer notify the dealers of the fact that
they were making these changes to the cars? Where the dealers told that the manufacturer was going
to stop making the 3.9 liter as well as the 3.2 liter engines and planned to replace the engines with a
3.5 liter engine. If the dealer had was informed of the changes, why didn t the salesperson know this
information. Or did the salesperson know and just forgot to tell the customer. Was the information in
any of the paperwork for the car?
Yes both parties in this sales contract should be able to resend the contract due to mutual mistake of
facts. Mistake of facts is when both parties enter into an agreement under a mistake as to a matter of
fact essential to the agreement, almost to the point where it s a completely different agreement,
making the agreement voidable. A mutual mistake occurs when the parties to a contract are both
mistaken about some material fact pertaining to their contract. I m that if the dealer knew the car they
sold Josh was actually a 3.5 liter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That I believe is not the fault of either party, but rather the manufacturer for not informing the dealer
of the changes made to the car. Since both parties were ignorant to this fact, they should both be
allowed to void the contract or at the very least renegotiate the terms of the agreement. Maybe they
could come to an agreement on a different price for the car that offers a better engine but also worse
fuel economy for Josh. It may be necessary to make a deal for an entirely different car all together,
that way all the facts will be known upfront and Josh can get the fuel economy he wants at a price that
both he and the dealer can be happy with. Either way Josh reserves the right to completely walk away
from the agreement and not make any new deals with the dealer. The dealer can do the same with the

The Philosophies Of Christianity And Buddhism Essay

A worldview is the way an individual understands and processes the world and reality. Worldviews
can be realized by answering seven questions. Most religions have a worldview that is unique to its
belief system. This paper aims to compare the worldviews of Christianity and Buddhism, and their
implications on health care. Important factors regarding care provided by those of other religions will
be discussed. The common components to different religions, as well as the author s personal views
and new perspectives, will also be discussed.
Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity America is known as a melting pot of cultures, and because
of this, health care providers encounter patients and families from a multitude of different
backgrounds and religions. Every religion comes with its own set of beliefs, rituals, and worldview.
What each culture or religion believes as truth can effect their view of health and wellness. Health care
providers must be accommodating and understanding of these differences. This paper will discuss the
differences in worldview between Christianity and Buddhism, as well as the implications of these
beliefs for health care. It will also discuss the common factors between religions regarding healing,
and important issues to be aware of when caring for patients of a different belief system.

various things. This included that of the effects of religion, methods of family planning, and women s

This then will holds our population to maintain its current numbers longer along with an increase from
that of newer generations being born. There are several reasons of why applying the concept of
population carrying capacity is difficult to apply to the human population. This includes that humans
are able to adapt and we are able change our food source depending on availability. We are also use
variety of resources ; however, when our resource run out we import it from another location or
substitute it for another resource. We have also discovered technological advances and agricultural
techniques that allow for us to maximize the productivity of agricultural land. Some of the dynamics
of food supply for the increasing human populations include ways that our population must learn to
increase yields. This includes increasing the use of urban farming in cities, avoid planting mono
cropping, reducing food waste, and increasing human consumption of grains and less of meat due.
Part II: In researching why population growth is more rapidly growing in the lower developed
countries and will account for most of the new population by 2025, I found that this is due to various
reasons. This includes that of lack of education or family planning in females in these countries. Once
the these countries began to make advances in things such as decreasing infant mortality rate, better

Advantages And Disadvantages Of International Commercial...
5.1 Critical Analysis
International commercial arbitration has evolved, primarily, against the background of two unifying
international traditions: the private international legal tradition, directed at the harmonization of laws;
and the public international law tradition, committed to reducing global barriers to trade. International
Commercial arbitration is the most widely used tool for resolution of trade or commercial disputes.
The effort should be made to tackle the problems which will benefit commercial transaction activities.
Most of the domestic courts were very slow in dealing with Arbitration cases. Therefore, parties now
resort to Arbitration in order to avoid lengthy and complex litigation procedure.
The Study findings revealed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A practical solution to avoid this issue is to include an Immunity Waiver Clause in the arbitration
agreement. States are generally not comfortable with this clause; however, this puts an obligation on
the state to not use this as a defence during enforcement of awards. Once any State agrees to
arbitration, it is an assumed principle that the State has waived its Sovereign Immunity. Under
International Conventions like New York Convention, if the state enters into an agreement, it is treated
as if the State has waived its Immunity and can be taken up as strong evidence against the State. The
situation is difficult as national courts (dealing with enforcement of awards) refuse to build up special
rules and regulations for the enforcement of arbitral awards and they are guided by the principles
applicable in judicial proceedings . Therefore it is probable on some occasions for litigants to conquer
the hindrance that are present while enforcing an award against

The Big Black Smiling Mammy, The Sexual Deviant, And The...
The big Black smiling mammy, the sexual deviant, and the angry sapphire are historically depicted
images of Black women. Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black
Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the
Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about
recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the
historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the
imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial
gains and transnationality.
Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators
, and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the
(mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and
the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used
illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication
of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an
argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects
popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. In

Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner Analysis
It s not to hard to sacrifice for someone you love, but it s hard to find someone who s worth your
sacrifice. When you have a reason for what you do then, it makes it easier to work harder. One
example is when you have a job, you work harder so you can get paid money. This can also apply to
soldiers in war, they work hard for citizens to live freely. When you are trying to do something that is
worth sacrificing you start with what you love and teach or spread it to those around you. A man by
the name Randall Jarrell, he was a writer that loved reading and writing and teaching. He had a love
for writing, this helped him describe situations in history. His poetry was very deep Horne wrote that,
moving back and forth between life and the life that is created by writing Randall tells of life in his
stories, in one called The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner. In this poem he tells about the lifestyle that
Turret Gunners have in WWII. In The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, there are 3 messages
described. Jarrell tells of how being a turret Gunner is like coming out a mother s womb. A Turret
Gunners job is to hang upside down in a chair at the bottom of bomber planes. The task is to shoot any
fighters trying to destroy the plane. Due to the task being so dangerous men would only on average
make it three trips. The situation these brave men were in was that they were you in upside down, they

For instance, I read about the three mixed media collages by David Maxim, studied the picture of one
of them, Time s Speed, and searched for it when we arrived at the Polk Museum of Art; I was
interested to see how the artist s signature expressive style, with its energetic line and spilled color,
contributes to depicting power and the anxiety of being impacted by that power ( Current Exhibitions
). When I found it, however, I was shocked at how much larger it was than what I expected, and the
splattered bulbs of fabric and rope hung off the canvas as large as my head, compared to the size of a
golf ball I had been imagining. In addition, being in the actual place with the artwork was a much
more educational experience than trying to glean knowledge from the web; seeing the physical objects
made them so much more interesting, and interacting with the docent was much more informative
than reading paragraphs, since we could ask her questions and hear her anecdotes. For instance, in the
Ancient Art of the Americas gallery, our kind tour guide described the cultures and people that used
the artifacts we saw, which without her information might have been easy to gloss over. She told us
about how some cultures in Mexico would use Chihuahuas as a food source and how they were

understanding. Yet since she explained it, I remember it clearly, unlike the information on that same

Biodiversity In Belize Essay
Biodiversity in Belize The South Caye Marine Reserve region is located along the Belize Barrier Reef.
This reef is the second largest in the world, and the largest in the northern hemisphere. Two very
important ecosystems in the Belize Barrier Reef area are the coral reef, and the mangrove trees. These
ecosystems assist in determining the biodiversity of the area, affecting animals of the water, land, and
sky. Without each other these two ecosystems would diminish, they rely on the other to thrive. These
two ecosystems benefit the environment, and also the economy. Since the economy tends to be viewed
as more important than preservation of nature, the government had to step in and create laws that will
preserve the ecosystem. Mangroves are the centre of a very intricate ecosystem. As a whole,
mangroves are sometimes considered to be the most complex and productive ecosystem on earth
(Frost, Emily). Many individuals consider the mangrove trees to be where the sea meets the land,
since it benefits animals of all kinds. There are four different species of mangroves located in Belize,
these include: the red mangove (Rhizophora mangle), the black mangove (Avicennia germinans), the
white mangrove (Laguncalaria racemosa), and the buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus). The red
mangrove is usually found along the water on the cayes and waterways, the black mangroves are
found farther from the waters edge, followed by the white mangrove and buttonwood being found
furthest inland.

The Nazi Party Of Germany
The Nazi Party of Germany aimed to create a racially pure society between the years 1933 through to
1945. This society, or Volksgemeinschaft, was to contain Hitler s ideological view on what a pure
person, or Aryan should be. It also involved the exclusion of anyone who did not fit this mould. The
Nazi party was extremely successful in achieving their highly aimed goal. Through the Nazi s control
over youth groups and in children s education, the Nazi Party and Hitler were able to reach this goal in
the years 1933 to 1939, and this continued through World War Two till the end of 1945. The Nazi
Party convinced children about their ideologies and by doing so paved a path for the new generation to
be followers of the Third Reich. Not everyone supported the Nazi regime, but overall it was accepted
by society, and the youth groups helped the Nazi party form their ideal society leading up to and
during the war. When Hitler became Chancellor and passed the Enabling Act in 1933, it allowed the
Nazi Party to have control over Germany. The controlling of the education system allowed the Nazi s
to implement their beliefs and ideas in subjects. The Hitler Youth organisations were a way for the
Nazi party to groom future supporters and members of the Nazi party. This included future SS
members and the future perfect Aryan Nazi family. The policies they implemented in the schools and
youth groups were what ultimately helped the Nazi party be successful in forming their idealistic

Richard Wright s Writing Style
It is probably a mere accident that I never killed, states Richard Wright during an interview.
(Kinnamon 596) Often times, an alternative people would turn to would be violence in a way to
escape the world they lived in, but one man held so much inspiration over a society that was and still
is shaded by prejudice. What many fail to realize is one can transform the direction of the way society
works simply by using words. Because of Richard Wright s writing style, he depicts the racism and
bigotry set in American society in his novel and writes this story by using examples of his personal
experiences to create an impact for the later generations. Since Richard exited his mother s womb, he
had to undergo bigotry and unseen detestation from white southerners because of his color (Hart 35).
Starting his first day of life on September 4, 1908, Richard Wright overcame several impediments and
later became one of the first famous African American authors. The Wright family lived in Natchez,
Mississippi, and his parents worked, during his toddler years. Nathaniel Wright, Richard s father, was
a sharecropper. He labored for the rich plantation owners, while Richard s mother was a school
teacher. (Shuman 1697)Because of the constant beatings, Wright was obedient to all types of authority
but anxiety and distrust formed in his mind. Richard unintentionally set his grandparents house

Watching Pollan s Series Documentary
INTRODUCTION
I selected to watch Pollan s series documentary instead of his book due to my difficulties in reading
and being a visual learner. I am grateful to Pollen for being able to see his story as the documentary.
This allowed a visual and hearing experience with the professionals he spoke with within their
environment along with demonstrations of what they were talking about. It was an experience to join
the people from the countries he visited in their homes/work and to learn what he was taught. This
video brings more meaning and life into his story than just words on a page.
AUTHOR
Michael Pollan is an American author, journalist, activist, and professor of journalism at the UC
Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. For the last 25 years he has written about nature and culture
and their intersection in what we put on our plates, what is in our farms/gardens and in the
environment we have built. In 2010, he was named in TIME s 100 Most Influential People, and
received a few other awards. He does not seem to have a formal education in nutrition, however, based
off this documentary he completes thorough research through speaking with professionals, specialists
and highly regarded (in this case) makers as well as people who live in the communities he is
reporting about.

Explain how prices of coal, steel rails, and copper in 1871, 1876, and 1879 relate to points on the
graph of the business cycle. The graph shows in 1871 there was an industrial overexpansion boom that
resulted in the production of railroads; this called for more materials and caused the increase in price
for the steel rails in the Document F chart. In 1876 there was there was the secondary post war
depression causing things to go under causing the price of items to decline, causing the lower copper
and steel rail prices in the chart. And in 1879 there was the gold resumption boom caused the prices to
go down. All in all the prices of coal went down because of the over expansion, which led to less
money being made to pay the employees, causing the rates to go up and down. 7. From the
documents, what inferences can you make about the disastrous effects of the business cycle for each
group below: d. Corporations: when the price of products went down, the more of the product that was
made. But the cycle got better during the War Boom , but went down during the post war depression.
e. Workers: the workers were given less money when the prices of the goods decreased.
Part C. 8. In what way do the above documents on labor union membership and the Knights of Labor
philosophy reflect concerns of J.P. Morgan? The chart shows the rising number of workers, but an

Titration Of An Unknown Solution
A titration is a method to determine the concentration of an unknown solution by using the known
concentration of another solution. An analyte is the concentration of an unknown solution . A titrant is
the concentration of a known solution. The glassware needed to perform a titration are a buret, a flask,
and an indicator of pH meter. The buret sends the second reactant to the flask. An indicator detects the
endpoint of this reaction. Standardization is the process in which you determine the concentration of
the titrant before performing the titration. One would need to make a standard solution to be precise,
and make sure the titration experiment is being done correct. The equivalence point is point in the
titration when the quantity of titrant is the right amount for the reaction with the analyte. ... Show

You prepare a standard solution by using the M1V1=M2V2 formula, and putting the information to
solve the equation. An indicator is going to have a reaction with hydroxide ions or hydrogen ions to
determine whether the substance is a base or acid. The role of an indicator in a titration is to determine
how many oxygen or hydroxide ions are in a solution. The laboratory method that is used to titrate an
unknown strong acid solution is a titration. When you drop NaOH ions the OH ions unite with H ions
creating water which leave less H ions in the solution making the solution less acidic. The more
NaOH ions you add the solution will eventually change color due to the indicator. The data that should
be collected during the titration in order to calculate the concentration of HCl should be the number of
moles, the volume of the solution, and the amount dropped to make the solution less acidic. You
calculate the molarity/ concentration of the unknown HCl solution by using the formula

Serena s Door-Personal Narrative
My eyes are stinging from the bright florescent light hanging from the ceiling, like the feeling of
uneasiness thats been settling in my chest since i woke up on this thin peice of foam. It smells used

prime location for me and my two younger sisters to play hide and seek. There goes that feeling again

Employment Relationship Within The Usa
The USA is one of the only some countries where employment is principally at will. All states apart
from Montana assume such relationship of employment in the U.S (2005, Ewing, North, Taylor). The
majority countries of the world let employers to release employee simply for cause. A number of the
reasons specified for the retention of the at will assumption comprise employer deference, respect for
autonomy of contract, and the faith that equally employers and employees support an at will
employment relationship above security of job. At will denotes that an employer can fire an employee
at whatever time for any cause apart from some biased reasons, or for no reason devoid of sustaining
legal accountability. Likewise, an employee has right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agreements of Collective bargaining typically offer that represented employees might merely be
terminated for a cause. Cause usually comprises reasons for instance poor employee misconduct,
employee performance, or economic necessity. A contract of employment might exclusively delineate
the situations or employee actions that would direct to termination for cause.
Courts above the years, have carved out exemptions to the Employment at will (EAW) assumption to
lessen its sometimes inconsiderate outcomes (Karen, 2005). The 3 foremost exceptions of common
law are implied contract, public policy, and implied convention of good faith. The presumption of at
will is strong, on the other hand, and it can be hard for an employee to establish that his circumstances
fall in one of the exemptions. Additionally, not all of the exceptions are distinguished by all
jurisdictions.

Now let s appraise the acts of employees :
Joe threatening to sue the company for privacy invasion subsequent to being disciplined for criticizing

In this situation I would utilize the utilitarian theory. Initially, Joe has no grounds to take legal action
for incursion of privacy, owing to signing the Employee Electronic Device Policy. I might not fire him
owing to the retaliation exception to the doctrine of at will. Laws of Federal and/or state forbid

Which Alkali Metal Carbonate Abstract:
The purpose of this lab was determining which alkali metal carbonate composes a given unknown
sample by using three different methods. These three methods of flame test, simple weight loss
calculation, and gravimetric analysis method were used to identify the properties and the molar mass
of the unknown given sample. After doing the previous tests, it was discovered that the metal was
Na2CO3 (sodium carbonate), and the mass of the molar mass was 37.158 g/mol, and the recovery rate
was 95.58%.

Brazil Power In South America
Although, Brazil has not fully attained the international power that its leaders covet, Brazil s
diplomatic capabilities through foreign policy, immense territorial size, and increasing economic
power has allowed them to establish their current position as a rising international power.
The foundation of Brazil s acquisition of dominance in the international community began during the
1990 s when President Fernando Henrique Cardoso opted to shift their foreign policy from autonomy
through distance to autonomy through participation (Vigevani and Cepaluni, 2007, p. 1311). As a
result of this, Brazil s prior hesitation to participate in international affairs started to dissipate. Another
reason this shift in foreign policy was important is because the historical protectionist economic
policies that the past military regime had hindered the nation s growth in the ... Show more content on

Being located in the Western Hemisphere results in Brazil having to compete with the hemisphere s
and world s most powerful leader, the United States. Even though Brazil continues to displace the U.S.
as a dominant power in South America, the potential that Brazil possess as a global force is often
overshadowed by the U.S. Though their overall relationship remains positive, at times, this creates
hemispherical tension between the two nations. One of the most notable cause of tension stemmed
from Brazil s desire to obtain a permanent seat on the United Nation Security Council being
undermined from the U.S. s lack of support (Snow, 2014, p. 218). This served as a reminder that
similarly to China, who was hesitant on having two Asian rivals, India and Japan, have a permanent
seats, the United States values its position as the on permanent member of the Western Hemisphere
and did not want a seemingly rival to also possess the power associated with having a permanent seat

Parenting And Religion In Stephen King s Carrie
In Stephen King s Carrie, later turned into a movie produced by Kevin Misher, with a screenplay by
Lawrence D. Cohen Roberto Aguirre Sacasa, Carrie White is a young girl who is subject to mental and
physical abuse. With a mother who believes life should revolve around praying, and being religious,
Carrie finds it nearly impossible to fit in socially. Due to dealing with her mother s religious intensity,
Carrie can t live the normal life she longs for. Carrie s home environment is toxic in such ways that it
creates physical and emotional strain, being made to attend chapel and worship services on Sundays,
Tuesdays, and Fridays Carrie can t participate in normal teenage activities such as parties, football
games, etc. Like all teenagers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every once in a while when Carrie worked up enough courage to ask her mother about things like
menstruation, she was accused of sinning for even thinking about those things. Carrie was alienated
from society, and ended up using her psychic powers to hurt the people who made fun of her.
The abuse that Carrie experienced from her mother, that started at such a young age the day she was
born, impedes upon normal psychosocial development in an adolescent. When examining Erikson s
Theory of Psychosocial Development, Carrie missed a couple of stages, this is obvious to any person
that is familiar with the theory. In Erikson s first stage, Trust Versus Mistrust, it is essential that the
child s caretaker provides proper compassion, love, and care to the child (Psych^5, pg. 244). Carrie s
mother hasn t successfully delivered the proper care required to allow a child to flourish. Margaret
attempted to take Carrie s life on a couple of occasions, proving she was unfit from the beginning. For
example, in the very first scene of the movie Margaret attempted to kill Carrie with a pair of scissors,
she didn t go through with it, and later said that she was weak for not giving Carrie to God. Due to all
of the traumatic events Carrie has been through, she has failed the Trust Versus Mistrust stage. She is
unable to trust her own mother, and when she was asked to the prom, she believed she was being
tricked, the

In both characters, Lear and Larry banishes their daughter, Cordelia and Caroline, due to his pride and
blindness. However, in King Lear , Lear gave his power to his daughter who do not actually love him.
Afterword s Lear realizes he was wrong and his youngest daughter Cordelia was the good one. In A
Thousand Acres , Larry accuses Rose and Ginny even though it is wrong about treating him badly and
become blinder as the story goes on. Caroline and Cordelia both stick by their father, even after he
shuns them but Caroline is ignorant, as she does not see her father s true side that her sisters know of.
In King Lear , Goneril and Regan betray Lear by shutting him down after he gave them his power.
Unlike Goneril and Regan, Ginny and Rose only deny Larry s requests for his safety, not because they
are selfish. These motifs are similar but have been flipped around in the two works. Instead of Ginny
and Regan being selfish, Larry is the bad guy, who does not learn from his mistakes. Jess is also
similar to Edmund, as he did something not socially acceptable by leaving the farm and returning
years later. However, he never did anything extremely cruel or evil that causes death and havoc, like

  • 2. Why Do People Commit Crimes In The 16th Century Crimes and Punishments in the 16th Century The punishments in the 16th century were extremely firm and horrifying for criminals. People who committed crimes in the 16th century had to face serious punishments, such as the rack, weight placed on breast, and were placed on a sharp stone. Not to mention in this time period, people were living in poverty and some people could not find money to buy food for their families. The population of England was growing faster than food resources. One result of this was occasional and localized food shortages so severe as to occasion hunger, starvation, and death (Morgan 288). In addition, many people did not have money even to buy basic things they needed to survive and many of them became criminals in the eye of the 16th century law. Punishments in the 16th century were unjust able for crimes such as begging, theft, and treason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Begging may seem okay, but it is a crime in the 16th century. Punishments may include the scavenger s daughter, the iron maiden, and the branding iron. The scavenger s daughter is the opposite of the rack, which were on the rack, a victim s legs and arms were tied to bars at either end of the device, and rollers were then used to stretch the body. The tension was maintained and gradually increased by use of a ratchet. This caused terrible pain for the victim as well as increasing physical damage as the torture continued. Tendons were ripped, joints separated and bones fractured. The sounds of muscles and tendons tearing and snapping provided audible signs of the damage being done (Crime in Tudor and Stuart England). The iron maiden is a sarcophagus with spikes and the branding iron is a hot touches certain spot on the criminal. In addition, you will regret being a beggar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals 1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on organisational performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its members could display varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to maintain affiliation while others may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond their stipulated job description and likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli: 2005). This latter behaviour where the employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in such activities has been described by various nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour (Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB has been one of the important and popular research subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the most preferred employee level outcomes at workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983, Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in the early 1980s, the origins of this concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized three distinct behavioural entities for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes induction and retention of the workforce in the organisation, employees performing specific dependable job roles in addition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Wartime Propaganda During World War II Wartime propaganda has always been a beneficial tool for warring nations. Its ability to effectively persuade, influence, and convince citizens even in a time of distress has made it a vital component of many war engaged countries. The United States, for example, reaped great benefits by using war propaganda in World War II. American propaganda helped dramatically increase the sale of war bonds, rate of civic engagement, and public morale. Although American propaganda during World War II can be considered as extremely biased and racist, it would have been more difficult to for the Americans to defeat Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany if propaganda was not used at all. The general concept of propaganda, information or news intentionally spread ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Euphoric advertisements and posters were made to promote the United States and its allies strength, courage and bravery. A well known example is the 1943 poster, United We Are Strong, United We Will Win , displaying artillery guns decorated with the flags of the Allies, all firing in unison. Along with boosting morale, many enthusiastic posters also encouraged women to join the workforce and to convince their male partners that this activity was normal. As a result, the employment of women jumped 15 percent from 1941 to 1943. Unfortunately, the United States government also engaged in racism and discrimination to foster enthusiasm. Many posters and videos were created demonizing the Japanese, representing them as subhuman and animalistic. Although this type of propaganda motivated soldiers to fight by making the Japanese seem barbaric and savage, it also worsened Japanese Americans relationships on home soil. Americans started to discriminate Japanese even more, eventually forcing them out of their homes and placing them in internment camps, where they were separated from American ... The intention of steganography is secret communication to hide the existence of a message from a third party. It has found use in variously in diplomatic, personal, military and intellectual property application. This paper emphasis is on digital applications and current and future use of steganography, focusing on hiding information in online image files. Examples of software tools that employ steganography to hide data inside of other files as well as software to detect such hidden files will also be presented. All of those use redundant bits to replace by message bits. Therefore Text steganography is not a famous technique; rather it is less likely used as a cover medium as it contains less redundant information. Similarly audio and video steganography are less used method for their large size and complex algorithm for compression and coding. Again in protocol steganography, messages are inserted in network layer. Which may result in increasing the network congestion. So image embedding is a famous technique in the area of steganography because it contains larger amount of redundant bits and changes in least significant bit is unrealizable to human eye. In short: steganography_medium = hidden message + carrier + key Digital Image Carrier Methods: In digital steganography techniques mostly graphical images file are used as the carrier medium because of large amount of redundant bits and its simplicity. Messages can be hidden in digital media in number of ways. The most common steganography method in image files employs some type of least significant bit substitution or overwriting. In this method high order or most significant bit is the one with the highest arithmetic value (i.e., 27=128), while the low order or least significant bit is the one with the lowest arithmetic value (i.e., 20=1). In this approach only few bits of image are overwritten by the message (ASCII) value, the numeric value of the byte ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mutual Mistakes In Business Law Essay Mutual Mistakes in Contract Law This situation raises some questions for me. Did the manufacturer notify the dealers of the fact that they were making these changes to the cars? Where the dealers told that the manufacturer was going to stop making the 3.9 liter as well as the 3.2 liter engines and planned to replace the engines with a 3.5 liter engine. If the dealer had was informed of the changes, why didn t the salesperson know this information. Or did the salesperson know and just forgot to tell the customer. Was the information in any of the paperwork for the car? Yes both parties in this sales contract should be able to resend the contract due to mutual mistake of facts. Mistake of facts is when both parties enter into an agreement under a mistake as to a matter of fact essential to the agreement, almost to the point where it s a completely different agreement, making the agreement voidable. A mutual mistake occurs when the parties to a contract are both mistaken about some material fact pertaining to their contract. That I believe is not the fault of either party, but rather the manufacturer for not informing the dealer of the changes made to the car. Since both parties were ignorant to this fact, they should both be allowed to void the contract or at the very least renegotiate the terms of the agreement. Maybe they could come to an agreement on a different price for the car that offers a better engine but also worse fuel economy for Josh. It may be necessary to make a deal for an entirely different car all together, that way all the facts will be known upfront and Josh can get the fuel economy he wants at a price that both he and the dealer can be happy with. Either way Josh reserves the right to completely walk away from the agreement and not make any new deals with the dealer. The dealer can do the same with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of International Commercial... 5.1 Critical Analysis International commercial arbitration has evolved, primarily, against the background of two unifying international traditions: the private international legal tradition, directed at the harmonization of laws; and the public international law tradition, committed to reducing global barriers to trade. International Commercial arbitration is the most widely used tool for resolution of trade or commercial disputes. The effort should be made to tackle the problems which will benefit commercial transaction activities. Most of the domestic courts were very slow in dealing with Arbitration cases. Therefore, parties now resort to Arbitration in order to avoid lengthy and complex litigation procedure. The Study findings revealed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A practical solution to avoid this issue is to include an Immunity Waiver Clause in the arbitration agreement. States are generally not comfortable with this clause; however, this puts an obligation on the state to not use this as a defence during enforcement of awards. Once any State agrees to arbitration, it is an assumed principle that the State has waived its Sovereign Immunity. Under International Conventions like New York Convention, if the state enters into an agreement, it is treated as if the State has waived its Immunity and can be taken up as strong evidence against the State. The situation is difficult as national courts (dealing with enforcement of awards) refuse to build up special rules and regulations for the enforcement of arbitral awards and they are guided by the principles applicable in judicial proceedings . Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial gains and transnationality. Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators , and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the (mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. • 14. Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner Analysis It s not to hard to sacrifice for someone you love, but it s hard to find someone who s worth your sacrifice. When you have a reason for what you do then, it makes it easier to work harder. One example is when you have a job, you work harder so you can get paid money. This can also apply to soldiers in war, they work hard for citizens to live freely. When you are trying to do something that is worth sacrificing you start with what you love and teach or spread it to those around you. A man by the name Randall Jarrell, he was a writer that loved reading and writing and teaching. He had a love for writing, this helped him describe situations in history. His poetry was very deep Horne wrote that, moving back and forth between life and the life that is created by writing Randall tells of life in his stories, in one called The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner. In this poem he tells about the lifestyle that Turret Gunners have in WWII. In The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, there are 3 messages described. Jarrell tells of how being a turret Gunner is like coming out a mother s womb. A Turret Gunners job is to hang upside down in a chair at the bottom of bomber planes. The task is to shoot any fighters trying to destroy the plane. Due to the task being so dangerous men would only on average make it three trips. For instance, I read about the three mixed media collages by David Maxim, studied the picture of one of them, Time s Speed, and searched for it when we arrived at the Polk Museum of Art; I was interested to see how the artist s signature expressive style, with its energetic line and spilled color, contributes to depicting power and the anxiety of being impacted by that power ( Current Exhibitions ). When I found it, however, I was shocked at how much larger it was than what I expected, and the splattered bulbs of fabric and rope hung off the canvas as large as my head, compared to the size of a golf ball I had been imagining. In addition, being in the actual place with the artwork was a much more educational experience than trying to glean knowledge from the web; seeing the physical objects made them so much more interesting, and interacting with the docent was much more informative than reading paragraphs, since we could ask her questions and hear her anecdotes. For instance, in the Ancient Art of the Americas gallery, our kind tour guide described the cultures and people that used the artifacts we saw, which without her information might have been easy to gloss over. She told us about how some cultures in Mexico would use Chihuahuas as a food source and how they were therefore depicted in art, and pointed at sculptures that I would have otherwise looked at with no understanding. • 18. Biodiversity In Belize Essay Biodiversity in Belize The South Caye Marine Reserve region is located along the Belize Barrier Reef. This reef is the second largest in the world, and the largest in the northern hemisphere. Two very important ecosystems in the Belize Barrier Reef area are the coral reef, and the mangrove trees. These ecosystems assist in determining the biodiversity of the area, affecting animals of the water, land, and sky. Without each other these two ecosystems would diminish, they rely on the other to thrive. These two ecosystems benefit the environment, and also the economy. Since the economy tends to be viewed as more important than preservation of nature, the government had to step in and create laws that will preserve the ecosystem. Mangroves are the centre of a very intricate ecosystem. As a whole, mangroves are sometimes considered to be the most complex and productive ecosystem on earth (Frost, Emily). Many individuals consider the mangrove trees to be where the sea meets the land, since it benefits animals of all kinds. There are four different species of mangroves located in Belize, these include: the red mangove (Rhizophora mangle), the black mangove (Avicennia germinans), the white mangrove (Laguncalaria racemosa), and the buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus). The red mangrove is usually found along the water on the cayes and waterways, the black mangroves are found farther from the waters edge, followed by the white mangrove and buttonwood being found furthest inland. ... This society, or Volksgemeinschaft, was to contain Hitler s ideological view on what a pure person, or Aryan should be. It also involved the exclusion of anyone who did not fit this mould. The Nazi party was extremely successful in achieving their highly aimed goal. Through the Nazi s control over youth groups and in children s education, the Nazi Party and Hitler were able to reach this goal in the years 1933 to 1939, and this continued through World War Two till the end of 1945. The Nazi Party convinced children about their ideologies and by doing so paved a path for the new generation to be followers of the Third Reich. Not everyone supported the Nazi regime, but overall it was accepted by society, and the youth groups helped the Nazi party form their ideal society leading up to and during the war. When Hitler became Chancellor and passed the Enabling Act in 1933, it allowed the Nazi Party to have control over Germany. (Kinnamon 596) Often times, an alternative people would turn to would be violence in a way to escape the world they lived in, but one man held so much inspiration over a society that was and still is shaded by prejudice. What many fail to realize is one can transform the direction of the way society works simply by using words. Because of Richard Wright s writing style, he depicts the racism and bigotry set in American society in his novel and writes this story by using examples of his personal experiences to create an impact for the later generations. Since Richard exited his mother s womb, he had to undergo bigotry and unseen detestation from white southerners because of his color (Hart 35). Starting his first day of life on September 4, 1908, Richard Wright overcame several impediments and later became one of the first famous African American authors. The Wright family lived in Natchez, Mississippi, and his parents worked, during his toddler years. Nathaniel Wright, Richard s father, was a sharecropper. He labored for the rich plantation owners, while Richard s mother was a school teacher. An analyte is the concentration of an unknown solution . A titrant is the concentration of a known solution. The glassware needed to perform a titration are a buret, a flask, and an indicator of pH meter. The buret sends the second reactant to the flask. An indicator detects the endpoint of this reaction. Standardization is the process in which you determine the concentration of the titrant before performing the titration.
