Southern Italy Research Paper
Italy, the place where thousands of people go to get away from their normal lives, has been facing
many struggles of its own. The ancient buildings, rivers, and popular attractions make Italy look like a
perfect, easy living society. Yet, Italy has lots of problems, from governmental money issues to the
everyday lives of people. Italy s economy is continuing to get worse, causing the European and other
country s people to worry.
There are many THINGS that later result in a bad economy. Employment is a cause Italy has been
facing. Back to the 1990 s, Italian employees have been clocking longer hours while producing less.

government isn t able to keep up with the problems. The government has reduced its growth
expectations for the current year to minus 1.3 percent (Basta). This shows how bad the problem is

Social Issues of the Seventies Essay
The 1970s can be best understood as a transitional period in America. Starting in the 1950s, the power
of the youth was on the rise, through civil rights activism and anti war protests. This decade s ideal
citizen seemed to be the person helping others. Then the 1980s are more financially centered and
individualistic. This decade s ideal citizen is the one who measured success by how much money they
made. The 1970s proved to be a time of bitterness, cynicism, and increased interest in one s self for
most of the people in America. Some of the events that contributed to this were the Kent State
Massacre, Roe v. Wade, and the economic stagflation that happened in the latter part of the decade.
President Richard Nixon announced on April ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The events at Kent State were a catalyst that helped strengthened the American Citizens hatred of the
Vietnam War and distrust in the Government that promised to end the war. The case of Roe vs. Wade
was an example of an individual s rights and privacy against long held doctrines based on religious
beliefs. In 1973, a woman by the name of Norma L. McCorvey, using an alias of Jane Roe, was single
and living in Texas. She got pregnant and wanted an abortion, but it was illegal. The case eventually
made its way to the United States Supreme Court. The Court recognized in a 7 to 2 decision that the
Constitutional right to privacy should include a person s choice to terminate their pregnancy. This case
became not known as one of a person s right to privacy, but rather the case that legalized abortion
(Roe v. Wade). This case, in some ways, is not only about abortion, but it also illustrates the effects of
the feminist movements throughout the country. After this landmark decision of the Supreme Court, a
woman could now choose if and when to have children. No longer was sex only socially acceptable
for married couples ready to procreate. Another event that made a woman s position in American
society more independent was the economic recession, sometimes referred to as a stagflation, which
occurred during the middle to late part of the 1970s. Stagflation is a term in economics that describes a

The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable
John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English
countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the
artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the
city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were
brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life.
Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of
their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers.
From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s
properties that he had grown up on. Sloan, however, was more disposed to painting scenes he saw in
the city, usually involving people from many different walks of life. Even so, a great deal of affinity
can be found between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most prominent of these is the differences in composition between them. Constable uses a lower
perspective that is close to the ground in contrast to Sloan s bird s eye view. Constable s perspective
causes the viewer to feel like they are on the same level as the scene he s depicting, while Sloan s
angle causes the viewer to feel as if they are floating somewhere above, looking down on the scene.
Sloan s painting also has a lot more focus on the buildings in his picture; they are right in the
foreground, and they block out most of the view of the sky. The difference of focus can be seen as one
observes and compares that to the more prominent natural components in Constable s piece. The
buildings in his painting are more in the background and don t take up very much space in the picture
compared to the sky, grass, water, and trees surrounding

Mononucleosis Research Paper
Infectious Mononucleosis is a viral infection characterized by swelling of the lymph glands.
Mononucleosis is more commonly referred to as mono or kissing disease because it is transferred by
saliva. Mono was first named glandular fever in the 1880s by a group of german physicians; the name
stems from the characteristics of having swollen glands and high fever. Glandular fever was given the
name Infectious Mononucleosis in 1920 by Thomas P. Sprunt and Frank A. Evans. In 1932, two
researchers that go by the names of Paul and Bunnell discovered a way to help doctors diagnose mono
more accurately. A few years later Anthony Epstein, Barr and Achong discovered Epstein Barr Virus
(EBV) in the year 1964 and categorized it in the herpes family. Epstein Barr Virus and Infectious
Mononucleosis had no connection until 1968 when Gertrude and Werner Henle discovered how to
inoculate EBV and found a link between the two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About 85% 90% of Americans have developed antibodies to the Epstein Barr virus by the time they
are 40 years of age, which indicates that they have been infected with the virus during their lifetime. A
person can live with someone that has EBV and never become infected, but it is possible that a person
is susceptible to spreading the virus even if they no longer have symptoms. Epstein Barr virus lives in
the nose and throat and is spread when a person comes in contact with infected saliva, tears and
mucus.
The most common group of people to contract EBV are teenagers from the ages of 15 17 years old,
but anyone can contract the virus. Young adults that become infected with this virus will usually
experience common symptoms, such as, headache, sore throat, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, fever
and in some cases an enlarged spleen. Swelling of the spleen can get as large as two to three times the
normal size and occurs in about 75 out of 100 people that are

Persuasive Essay On Paid Family Leave
We all care about a family, we would all drop everything if they were to extremely sick out of
nowhere. The only thing that is stopping us from doing this is our work. As medicine keeps on
advancing, people will start to live longer than in the past. That would mean that we would have to be
very careful with our parents, but how are we going to take care of them if something were to happen
to them and not just the elderly but everyone that we care about. Our children, our sisters and brothers,
our uncle and aunts and cousins, who knows what could happen to all our loved ones. If we were to
get some sort of program or law that would let us be able to take care of our families, then we should
make sure that we have job protection and some sort of income that would help us out during the
tough times. We should also make sure that every person that is working has the same benefits as
every other worker in the U.S. In Lisa Belkin s article Paid Family Leave , she states that we, as a
country, should have paid family leave like many other countries around the world. It should not just
have to deal with maternity or paternity leave but it should also deal with our sick relatives. The
benefits that would come with this are good but the problem that most people have with this program
is where the money would come from and if this program were to affect everybody or just a select
handful. The benefits that come with paid family leave are good, but what comes because of those
benefits outweigh them. A lot of people have said that paid family leave in some way hurts a business
but studies have shown that because of paid family leave, workers have been more productive and
want to come back and work. Studies have shown that having some sort of program where you can
have some sort of leave has increased business productivity and it has made the employees loyal to the
company. It boosts the employee s morale, making them want to work (Chen). If you think about it, it
would make sense that people are wanting to go to work. If the company would allow this to happen,
then they would not have to care about losing their job because of a sick family member and they
could continue their work. If a family member

Use of DSM 5 and Class Material Criteria on Diagnostic Categories Exhibited in the Case Study
Based on both the DSM 5 and the class material criteria, Kimmy s diagnosis of Asperger syndrome
meant that it involved an exact number of items that were placed under the qualitative impairment
headings, specifically in a social interaction, stereotyped, restrictive, and repetitive patterns of
interests, behavior, and activities. The disturbance may have been caused by clinically essential
impairments in occupational or social areas of the functioning. Sperry (2001) noted that there is no
significant clinical delay in social language or developmental cognition. The criteria mentioned above
in the case study are based on the age appropriate self skilled help, adaptive behavior, apart from
social interaction and childhood curiosity.
The criteria used for eligibility were met for the diagnosis of Kimmy s Asperger syndrome, the
following criteria:
Evidence of the following:
1. The unequal developmental profile evidenced by the inconsistencies within or across social
interaction includes language domain, cognitive skills, and adaptive behavior.
2. Kimmy s impairment in either verbal or nonverbal language came as a result of social
communication skills,
3. And stereotyped patterns and/or restrictive, repetitive behaviors, activities, or interests, and,
4. Kimmy s need for special education defined by Sainsbury (2000).

Symbolism In The Faerie Queene
Intentions of The Faerie Queene In The Faerie Queene , Spencer Edmund produces an allegory. His
intention was to relate England in the 1590s to a mythical land in which each character had a symbolic
meaning as well as the events they were undergoing. He lived in an era where Roman Catholicism was
replaced with Protestantism and he dedicated himself to unconsciously teach and educate his readers
the Catholic Church was corrupted and was the wrong religion to follow. For this reason, he gave each
character a common role who would relate to anyone in England and showed the readers how his role
in the story symbolized good or evil. The themes he expressed in his books talked about his
interpretation in religion, politics, symbolism, and his dedication to make his allegory as influential as
possible. As mentioned before, Spencer s feelings about Catholicism were extremely important
because in time, England s religious beliefs represented the aspects and motivations of the good and
evil. Being the reason why England separated from the Catholic church and formed the Protestant
Church, since they defined Catholicism to be evil and dirty. This is when he decided to share his
beliefs and write several books that could be interpreted to reveal a hidden moral message. It was a
genius idea because he described the protagonists to be knights and princesses as protestants, and the
antagonists to be evil snakes and the devil himself that symbolized the Catholic Church. It is typical to

Chapter 29 is composed mainly of letters that were sent between Jerusalem and Babylon. Jeremiah
received information that false prophets in Babylon were telling the exiles they would return home
soon. Therefore, the exiles made little or no effort, to adjust to their new surroundings. When King
Zedekiah sent an official delegation to Babylon, Jeremiah used the occasion to secretly send a letter,
carried by Elasah and Gemariah, two of Jeremiah s few supporters, to the rest of the elders of the
exile, the priests, the prophets and all the people (29: 1 3). Disturbed by their unrealistic attitude,
Jeremiah exhorted them to settle down, build homes, and plant gardens; for he knew they would be in
Babylon many years (25:11).5
The Letter: Jeremiah 29:4 14
The message to the exiles was very practical. First, they should realize that God had sent them into
captivity. There are no greetings from Jeremiah here, no personal words. Instead the letter begins with
This is what the Lord says, as Yahweh addresses the entire exilic community and identifies himself as
the one who exiled them from Jerusalem to Babylon. 6 That being the case, they should make the best
of their situation. The normal activities of life should be resumed. Specifically he mentioned building
houses, planting gardens, and marrying their children. Jeremiah directed them to pray for the

Dr Sage Monologue
Dr. Sage, Goodness, where do I start? I must first start by saying this year has been one of the best of
my whole entire life! I m incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to shadow you, not
only shadow you, but develop a relationship with you and get to know you as a doctor and on a
personal level. It s complete devastation to know you are leaving, however I am so excited for you. I
wish you nothing but the best on this new chapter in your life; I know you ll go off and continue to
heal and inspire just as you have here at St. Mary Corwin. My life has always been filled with
hospitals and multiple doctors. From the time of being born (which I don t remember, of course) up

I m learning from observations and witnessing it first hand that there are many mishaps in life which
seem to be unexplainable and unfair, and have devastating consequences. It takes a special person to
work in the medical field, especially the Emergency Room. ER s see the worst of the worst. You have
the gentlest touch and most calming words, whether you are giving a diagnosis of something minor, to
advising someone they may have cancer, to breaking it to a mother that her baby is not viable. When I
get to that point I want to handle situations just like you do. I could go on and on about what an
amazing person I think you are and how much you have influenced me, but I m going to close it out
by saying Thank You. Thank you for taking me under your wing and teaching me so much. I never
imagined I would ever get to do anything like this in my life. I m so glad I got to experience it with
you. You will always be my favorite doctor, I will always look up to you. Thanks for an awesome
journey. You gave me your time, the most thoughtful gift of all. Fly in the plane of ambition and land
in the airport of success. Luck is yours, wish is mine. May your future always shine! Good luck.

The Lady or the Tiger
Characters
From my point of view, in this short story The Lady, or The Tiger?, the writer, Frank Stockton has
included and narrated some of the characters. The characters are the people who responsible for the
thought and actions in this short story. They are extremely important because they will help the
readers to understand the whole parts of the story line through their actions. Each character has he/her
own attitudes, mannerism and appearances or making it briefly, their personalities will greatly give an
influence to the progress of the story line, starting from the beginning of the story until the end. In this
short story, Frank Stockton has included some of the characters with different personalities to make

At the resolution, the writer does not tell the outcome of the short story either the princess has do
overcome her jealousy towards the lady, and let her have him or choose the death for the young man
because of her jealousy. Her jealousy will influence the outcome of the story.
The next theme is social status. From the beginning of the story, this theme already could be seen
when the writer narrates the atmosphere and scenery of the kingdom with the life of the people. The
social status here divides the royal family with the people. The serious relationship between these two
groups is prohibited as this will give a bad image to the royal family. That s why the young man is
being trialled in the arena as his punishment when the love between the princess and himself has been
known by the king.
Lastly, the theme that also can be interpreted in this short story is loyalty or we can said, blindly loyal.
This theme covers up mostly the part starting when the young man has been accused and will be
trialled in the arena. The young man loyal to the king s command and does not dispute or argue about
it. The people also blindly loyal to their king and no one questioned about the king s command
although they know that this is not fair for the young man.
Symbol
First symbol is the arena itself. The arena symbolizes the place of judgement for an

Arriving in Babylon, Persia the movie depicted him running to his major and now to be life time
servant Bagoa s. Another key element, that was present when Alexander first arrived in Babylon was
when he met Darius s family in high political positions. In the movie, they describe this occasion that
these people in higher rank positions were begging for their very own lives. The thing that stressed
this ideology that really struck on who Alexander the Great really was that in the movie he sparred
these people and kept them in their own ranks. It showed that Alexander the Great wasn t just a
barbarian and trying to dismantled everything but to show he was still a compassionate man. As the

Global Marketing Management
Global marketing management first involves the same elements as any type of marketing management
and then must take into account the different requirements of the global marketplace, the different
opportunities, and the pitfalls that must be avoided in this developing arena. Deciding what works and
what does not and seeing to it that the company follows what works is the job of the marketing
manager. While the purpose of marketing is the same in the global marketplace as in the domestic
market, namely to decide what the customer wants and then to provide it, the task can be more
complicated in the global market because the manager will not be as familiar with that market,
because that market is not one market at all but many markets in ... Show more content on

Such marketing is necessarily global as well, for the Internet crosses borders quite freely, except in
those countries able to impose limitations, such as China has been doing. Geraldine T. Cohen notes,
The nationally based business will start with cautious testing of new markets, often selected with a
similar culture, having a focus that is culturally and managerially ‘ethnocentric or centered around
the home market. A multinational business will have a ‘polycentric orientation, i.e. a focus based on
the understanding and appreciation of different operating contexts. (Cohen 195)
Global marketing has to begin with a decision about how broad a market is to be served, and the
choice of media may determine this question to a great extent. This is why an e company by its very
nature has to have a global perspective to be successful. Many marketing experts would agree with
John Quelch and Edward Hoff when they write, The big issue today is not whether to go global but
how to tailor the global marketing concept to fit each business and how to make it work (Quelch and
Hoff 60). That was in the 1980s, and the demand is even greater today as companies seek to compete
in the global arena on the Internet and in more traditional venues at the same time. Global trade shapes
the way companies operate, the goods they produce, the alliances they make, and certainly the
messages they use to sell their products. In the past, a product might be sold one way

issue for all road drivers. Nearly 1.3 million people die due to car accidents globally every year,

Canada represents the biggest market for the car manufacturer almost 40 percent of all luxury cars are

The Darling By Anton Pavlovich Chekhov
All throughout time women have been seen as lesser equals to men. For most individuals it has been a
natural instinct to assume the roles of women. However, making these assumptions is degrading and
unjust. While some women try and object the status quo, others accept it and continue on with their
lives. In The Darling by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, the protagonist Olenka can be seen as a prime
example of the perfect women. In Chekhov s short story, a young Russian woman named Olenka
marries twice after the death of each husband. Soon after each husband passes, Olenka begins to
isolate herself until she discovers a new person to fall in love with. This pattern reveals that Olenka
relies on others for satisfaction and acceptance. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

him. Olenka loved Kukin and had soaked in every single bit of him, but without his presence she was
left at a standstill. After she had received the news of his death, Olenka was devastated and had
nothing exciting to live for. And for a second time, a man in her life whom she cherished had died.
However, after only three months of grieving, Olenka had met another male figure in her life named
Vassily Andreitch Pustovalov. For Olenka, this had once again given her the optimism to see through a
fulfilling future with a partner by her side. Immediately after meeting Vassily, a timber merchant, she
befriends him and becomes infatuated with his presence. The speaker goes on to state that After seeing
Olenka to her gate, he said good bye and went on. All day afterwards she heard his sedately dignified
voice, and whenever she shut her eyes she saw his dark beard. She liked him very much (Chekov). In
these lines it is evident that Olenka was desperate for affection once again, and craved to be desired by
someone else. Finding such an immediate connection when meeting someone for the first time is odd,
especially considering her husband had just passed three months prior. To no surprise Vassily visited
Olenka three days later, which ensured her that a marriage was to be arranged. Just as in Olenka s

House Of The Red Fish Analysis
Do you find it hard to when looking for the similarities and differences of an object. Well you can use
the Double Bubble Map method to compare two subjects, there are three sides. The similarities, and
the different things about the subjects. In this case, the subjects were Tomi and Keet, the main
characters of House of The Red Fish . One of the many differences between Tomi and Keet is that
Tomi is determined to get his father s fishing sampan to the surface, but Keet is adamant about
keeping it at the bottom of the canal where it lays. The Double Bubble Map is convenient because it
keeps your notes organized, you can also virtually compare any two things, and lastly it s a fun
different way to taking dull notes. Firstly, this strategy is convenient because of how organized it is.
Even though there are a jumble of circles and words, the adjacent lines connecting one circle to the
next keep the space tidy and easy to find. In addition, when comparing Tomi and Keet, there are many
differences, but just as many similarities between the two. Using the Double Bubble method, you can
easily decipher the things they have in common, and the things that contrast. For example, both
characters share the trait of being stubborn, because Tomi will not give up raising his father s sampan,
the Taiyo Maru, but Keet on the other hand will do anything to keep the sampan on the ocean floor. ...

Siddhartha, By Hermann Hesse
Siddhartha Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse was a very interesting book to read. I found it to be a very
interesting way for people, like myself, who are not Hindus, and who do not live in India to learn
about the Indian and Hindu culture and religion without being there physically to experience it. This
book is about a boy, Siddhartha, who is probably somewhere in his teenage years. He lives with his
father, who is a Brahmin, they live together in ancient India. As in many cases, there is an expectation
that Siddhartha is going to follow in his father s footsteps. If this were to take place then Siddhartha
would become a Brahmin and do the same types of things in his life that his father has done in his. I
particularly liked this book because I felt as though it was something that many people can relate to.
While a lot of people, at least not in the United States, do not have the expectation of becoming a
Brahmin, there are a lot of children and young adults who are expected to follow what their parents
have done in their life, or what if not following their exact path then they are expected to follow the
path that their parents have chosen for them. Going back to the book, Siddhartha continues to struggle
after he and his friend hang out together, and everything is perfect, but then, all of a sudden he doesn t
feel anything, he isn t happy, which concerned him because it was something that would normally
make him and other people very happy. Siddhartha, the book, is about

Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer s Twilight Books And...
Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer s
Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the
fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well
known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner).
However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the
subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that
Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media
claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media s
biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate
to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from
the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms
was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page
(Brodesser akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for married women
and mothers; however, that definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more
inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight

The Mississippi River Battle Analysis
The defiance of nature bespeaks a rare relationship between a river and adjacent terrain any river,
anywhere, let alone the third ranking river on earth. Cajun country is the adjacent terrain, in a

Louisiana, with its base the Gulf Coast from the mouth of the Mississippi almost to Texas, its two
sides converging up here near the lock. The Mississippi River, with its sand and silt. It could not have

There was no high ground worth mentioning, and planters had to live on their plantations. The waters
of the Nile were warm; the Mississippi brought cold northern floods that sometimes stood for months.
In 1735, New Orleans went under. The intervals were generally long enough to allow the people to
build up a false sense of security. In response to the major floods, they extended and raised the levees.
A levee appeared across the river from New Orleans, and by 1812 the west bank was leveed to the
vicinity of Old River, the east bank was leveed as far as Baton Rouge. Neither of the levees was

Analysis Of Martin Luther King s Beyond Vietnam-A Time To...
Martin Luther King Jr., one of America s greatest civil rights leaders, was an avid protester of the
Vietnam War. Claiming that it is an enemy of the poor, he delivered a powerful speech called Beyond
Vietnam A Time to Break Silence at Riverside Church on April 4, 1967. Historically, King s speeches
have been known to evoke strong emotional responses from his audience. This speech does not differ;
the strong word choice and touching life stories King includes are essential in connecting with the
readers. With details and examples, he writes a compelling statement for his cause, including logic
while he develops his arguments. These two elements lead to the success of Martin Luther King Jr. s
speech. The combination of the two strengthen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the ghettos of the North over the last three years. He says that as he walked among the desperate,

his reasoning falls in his counterclaim. While subtle, he includes it in the beginning of the fourth
paragraph, quoting the people who asked him: Aren t you a civil rights leader? and thereby mean to
exclude me from the movement for peace. By including this statement, King allows for a differing
perspective in his work, showing that he understands both sides of the argument. King knows and
acknowledges that to many, he seems a hypocrite: someone who claims to be a civil rights leader
fighting for equality but also someone who says he wants peace. But by showing the differing sides of
public opinion, he demonstrates that he understands the diverse opinions that the readers may hold. It
makes the argument seem less biased and instead, more fair, which definitely causes his speech to

How Did Religion Change Throughout The 16th Century
Throughout the sixteenth century, religion was the main focus of society. The corruption of the
Catholic church led to reformation. Through this reformation of religion, it created rifts in society,
hence outbreak of religious wars. During the Protestant reformation, the monarchy was the most
influential system that affected the European wars of the sixteenth century. Economically, Spain s
wars with just about every nearby country left it economically struggling. Inflation was high due to the
large amounts of Gold and Silver found in the new world. War was expensive and detrimental to the
Spanish economy. These wars were both religious and territorial in nature.

Panic Buying
Prepper Journal: Panic Buying Maybe That s What They Want
Panic buying is the act of buying unusually large amounts of product in anticipation. In anticipation of
a perceived or actual disaster, or anticipation of price increases, shortages, or because of anticipated
governmental action, action that may ban or increase governmental regulation of a particular product.
According to some statistics there are more guns in America than there are people. Obviously, not
everyone owns a firearm, so this means that a rather large number of people own more than one,
several in fact. There is certainly nothing wrong with this fact, but how do the manufactures sell more
guns, if statistically speaking everyone owns one.

The voting booth is one way you can fight back however.
We will not get into the debate about who should be able to own a firearm, and who should not. Too
much passion involved, and too many knee jerk reactions. People have strong opinions on the matter,
and for some, facts and logic cannot sway their thinking, and we certainly will not try.
The only thing we can say here is do not panic, do not take anything at face value. Dig down into the
small print and read carefully before deciding you need to run out and spend money you don t have for
another firearm, because you are convinced that tomorrow the option to buy one is gone.
Panic buying will continue, and it is because of a lack of preparedness. Generators, candles, batteries,
bread, milk, canned goods, and eggs fly off the shelves hours before the big storm. This is because
there are very few that are actually prepared for anything, many do not know how to prepare, do not
know what to do in an emergency and so people panic when they do not have the answers, and are not
ready.

Robots
Robots always had a special place in mankind s heart. There has always been an aura of mystery and
discovery surrounding them. What is a robot? Wikipedia defines it as an automatically guided
machine which is able to do tasks on its own. That is a good definition of a robot, but there are few
exceptions too. The term robot was first created by Josef Capek. It was used by his brother Karel
Capek in his play Rossum s Universal Robots. The word literally means work in Czech. The science
fiction author Isaac Asimov was the first person to use the word robotics in his short story Liar! One
of the first robots was thought up by Leonardo Da Vinci. It was only a sketch of a mechanical knight,

R2 D2 and C 3PO each had interesting personalities and major parts in the storyline. Movies have also
shown robots in a different way. People thought of the idea that robots will become smarter than
humans. This, they think, will cause the robots to destroy the human race. Another hypothetical end
would be gray goo, which is when a swarm of nanobots will self replicate until they consume the
entire Earth or universe. Even if those events are unlikely to occur, robots can be harmful if they are
not working properly, or they aren t being used properly. There has been two deaths caused by robots.
One was struck by a robot arm. The other was pushed into a grinding machine. Robotics is still
developing, and they still have many flaws in them, many of which are hard to solve. For instance,
robots have no intelligence. This makes it hard for them to correct their mistakes. The robot might be
doing a task wrong, but it won t notice. This makes it important that there is constant human
supervision. Robots also tend to be very pricey. This is because of the many parts in a robot which are
needed to accomplish a task. The future of robotics is coming to us very quickly. Soon, other different
robots will emerge. Nanotechnology creates robots which cannot be seen with the human eye. These
robots can be used in medicine, or they can be used for surgery. Another idea is for robots to change
their form based on the task which they are doing. There is also the idea of robots

Examples Of Reoccurring Motifs In Literature
There are many different motifs themes in literature, but some of them are reoccurring. Examples of
this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen
Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl, Mattie, who lives in
Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death, is about Prince Prospero,
and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death; Pestilence is a poem written about
the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. Some of the reoccurring motifs are fear, visions of America,
and science. To start off, one of the reoccurring motifs is the idea of fear the theme that pertains to the
motif, is fear is stronger than the feared. Anderson has almost written her book around this idea,

She is scared because she feels abandoned and alone, not because she has seen a dead body or saw her

the Red Death. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they were, being a chef would be a
horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear is the thought of themselves
getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in
his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time
had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. Just like every
other passage, the people are not scared of a bunch of priests leaving their jobs, they fear the thought
that not even Gods teachers are safe from this disease, so since the priests are fleeing the city, the

The Theme Of Restorative Justice In The Kite Runner
Restorative justice, a key factor in today s society that allows us to function in a orderly way can be
portrayed in many ways such as the loyalty towards one friend or the redemption from despair and
pain.In the story The Kite Runner restorative justice is the leading factor in the role of the main
character Amir and is quest of redemption. Restorative Justice itself can only be achieved through
hard work along with the willingness to change and because of this I feel as though the movie (The
Kite Runner) had less of an impact showing the struggle of redeeming oneself unlike the actual
book. This being said having the opportunity to watch the film and read the book both greatly impacted
how I now view restorative justice. It made the theme of redemption being something you only
achieve with hard work and willingness to change oneself clear to me as the reader.
Now, likewise to what I said earlier watching the movie and reading the book did in fact make the
theme clear to me. The movie, to a certain extent showed how redeeming oneself requires hard work
and effort. This can be shown in the scene where Amir literally had to fight in order to take Sohrab
from Asself. In addition this can be read in the book when Amir says My memory of the fight with
Assef is amazingly vivid in stretches... .In like manner, both adaptations of the story showed how
change is necessary for redemption such as how Amir told Soraya of his wrong doing that happened
so many years ago. This

A Doll s House Review Essay
A Doll s House Review A Doll s House was published in Norway in 1879 by Henrik Isben. He is
known as the father of Modern Theatre. He is also referred as the father of realism. The play is very
interesting because of the funny dialogue, the unique characters, and Ibsen s view of the place of
ladies in the public eye. The main characters of the play is Nora Helmer and her husband Torvald
Helmer. Imagine what it would be like to live in a doll s home? It s a house in which you are
controlled and have no energy to settle on any solid choice; It s a house in which you are a play thing
for another person s amusement. This sounds a ton like an awful marriage, so it s a house in which
your husband holds the satchel strings, in a manner of speaking, and abandons you with no influence
over your family s accounts. In fact, your husband keeps you on a tightrope. Such is the perceived life
of Nora Helmer. A Doll s House is an example of a literacy work with numeral possible themes. The
idea of the play is an expression of the need for women to escape from the confinement and restriction
that they faced in nineteenth century European society, it is supported by the condescending manner in
which Torvald treats Nora and by his frequent references to the respective value of men and women.
Another theme is in order for a marriage to be successful, the people involved should know and trust

Slavery From The Slave s Point Of View
Since very few slaves knew how to read much less write, there are only a few telling s of slavery from
the slave s point of view. Frederick Douglass added to this by writing about his life in his memoir.
This was able to happen because Mrs. Auld did not think it was a crime to teach a young slave boy to
read and when Mr. Auld tried to put a stop to it, Douglass just gained a bigger thirst for knowledge
wanting to learn how to write. With the help of some local young white children, Douglass learned
how to write and was able to write down his life in slavery. In the Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglass, Douglass wrote about the violence he endured and saw happen, how he was able to get an

Captain Anthony made his aunt have her hands tied and stand on a stool to whip her for being in the
company of a young male slave. After seeing her blood on the floor, Frederick feared that the same
punishment would happen to him. This shows that the violence surrounding Douglass as a young boy
had a great impact on his mental state and how it made his foundation of trust for the white people in
his life unstable and start to crumble. Sometimes the masters may not have had the greatest reasons for
punishing their slaves. An example of this is when Colonel Lloyd would severely punish old and
young Barney for the mistreatment of his horses. Colonel Lloyd would punish them if he felt like his
horses had too much or too little grain or hay, if their food was too wet or too dry, or if old Barney left
the horses to young Barney s care. Since the slaves could not explain what they did or why they did
something the way they did for fear of being punished worse than they would be if they stayed silent,
they were forced to take the beatings even if they did nothing wrong. Colonel Lloyd opened up
Douglass s eyes that the masters did not care if a slave was young or old, male or female, guilty or
innocent to a punishment, if they thought something was done or handled wrong the slave had to pay
the price. While still on the plantation of Colonel Lloyd, Mr. Gore became the new overseer replacing

The Effect Of Humans s Effect On The Environment
In this day in age we often forget our effect on the environment. From driving cars to using paper, we
forget that we have a large impact. Research has found that humans have easily used more than 30%
of the worlds resources. With the increase in population, this number will increase rapidly. One
organization that represents the effects humans have on the environment is World Wildlife Fund or
WWF. This organization promotes ads and campaigns to help people see the big picture. It goes
without saying that our effect on the environment is one of the most important issues facing us today.
When it comes to the effect we have on the environment humans are greedy. Living in a first world we
feel entitled to everything. Many organizations promote the effect we have on the environment.
Claiming we are over using our resources. In my opinion I agree. One imagine that stood out to me
was by WWF. The imagine was made from trees, it depicted human lungs. One area of the lungs was
brown and dead. In the imagine you can clearly see that the forest had been harvested. By representing
the forest as lungs this ad makes you think of yourself. Are we killing ourselves? In my opinion yes,
we are slowly over using major resources. This set of lungs also makes me think about the living
animals we are killing by destroying their habitat. Consequently, animals will move and try to survive.
But without the proper food and habitat most will not survive. In terms of animals moving to new
habitats, humans will discover new species in different parts of the world. This can also damage the
environment because every ecosystem is different depending on the environment. As a factor to this
we are seeing a rise in endangered species. Therefore, I believe this picture represents the effects
humans have on the environment.
Many people claim that humans do not have an effect on the environment. According to experts we
have the largest impact. Ripping down tree s and harvesting oil we destroy the earth slowly. The
organization WWF clearly and effectively represents the effects we have on the environment. For
instance, by promoting the forest as a set of lungs it makes us connect environmental damage to
ourselves as humans. Such things inside

says that Uncle Pumblechook will take Pip in his chaise cart.
Chapters 8 14
Chapter 8 In the morning, Pumblechook took Pip to Miss Havisham s house for Pip to play. Miss

Estella is very rude to Pip and once Pip has to leave the house he starts to cry.
Chapter 9 When Pip returns back home he tells Pumblechook, Mrs. Joe, and Joe a wild story about his

Taking Water And Marketing Something That Should Be A...
California is going through a very difficult period right now because of this drought and there are still
people who think that Nestle taking water and marketing something that should be a public right is
okay. For example, people like the Chief Executive Officer of Nestle waters, Peter Brabeck Letmath,
recently said that water is a food like any other and it should have a price value because it is not a
human right (Bacher). Pumping water out of California s water sources while in an exceptional
drought is outrageous. Many people might believe that it is okay for Nestle to pump water because it
is for the people and they have the permission to do so, but at what cost? This constant pumping has
already hurt the ecosystems and its animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the many jobs offered by Nestle mean more production of plastic bottles creating more
waste and more pollution. As I interviewed one of my classmates, Tiffany Xiong, she brought up the
point about how some people might say that water bottles are good because they provide water access
for when there are no other options or when access to clean water is lost. Even though the bottled
water might provide water in times of crisis, relying too much on bottled water can eventually lead up
to the same crisis that other disadvantaged regions are facing. Bottled water might be convenient and
fitting for most people, but it is still very expensive and corrupt compared to tap water. Also, bottled
water companies have great impacts of producing and distributing millions of gallons of water on
global warming. Many cities of California are suffering from the devastating drought and Nestles
pumping and Sacramento is amongst the top.
In the state of California, the city of Sacramento is feeling the outcome of the water pumping by
Nestle, as well as the drought. Sacramento has reached its Fourth year of this record braking drought,
but this is not stopping Nestle from pumping water into water bottles and selling it to the public for
profit. Nestle water has pumped approximately eighty million gallons of water out of the aquifers in
Sacramento during this historic drought (Bacher). A lot of people in Sacramento

Cracker Barrel Murder Case Report
5:42. 10:08. 10:24. 1 shooter. 8 shot. 6 dead. Thousands of lives changed forever.
Jason Brian Dalton, 45 year old married man with two children, is responsible for shooting 8 and
murdering 6 in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, on February 22, 2016. Dalton was driving an Uber,
targeting people at stops and picking up people in between attacks. The victims ages ranged between
14 and 74. For all intents and purposes, he was your average Joe, the Kalamazoo County Public Safety
Chief said.
ABC reported attorney Paul Vlachos stating that before the shootings on February 22, Carol Dalton,
Jason Dalton s wife, was out running errands with their children. Dalton spent the day with a friend,
visiting a gun store before picking up Uber passengers.

Two of the shootings were captured on video.
The Kalamazoo shooting has been the 26th mass shooting in 2016.
Many of those affected have been wondering, what was the motive? Was he mentally stable? CNN
said the motive for this chaotic shooting spree is unknown, and Dalton has no record of any mental
health issues. The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor said, There is this sense of loss, anger (and) fear. On
top of that, how do you tell the families of these victims that they were not targeted for any other
reason than they were a target?
According to the Detroit Free Press, 11 long guns and 4 handguns were recovered in Dalton s home
after the shooting rampage. A man who lives near Dalton said, Dalton regularly shot his guns,

  • 3. Social Issues of the Seventies Essay The 1970s can be best understood as a transitional period in America. Starting in the 1950s, the power of the youth was on the rise, through civil rights activism and anti war protests. This decade s ideal citizen seemed to be the person helping others. Then the 1980s are more financially centered and individualistic. This decade s ideal citizen is the one who measured success by how much money they made. The 1970s proved to be a time of bitterness, cynicism, and increased interest in one s self for most of the people in America. Some of the events that contributed to this were the Kent State Massacre, Roe v. Wade, and the economic stagflation that happened in the latter part of the decade. President Richard Nixon announced on April ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The events at Kent State were a catalyst that helped strengthened the American Citizens hatred of the Vietnam War and distrust in the Government that promised to end the war. The case of Roe vs. Wade was an example of an individual s rights and privacy against long held doctrines based on religious beliefs. In 1973, a woman by the name of Norma L. McCorvey, using an alias of Jane Roe, was single and living in Texas. She got pregnant and wanted an abortion, but it was illegal. The case eventually made its way to the United States Supreme Court. The Court recognized in a 7 to 2 decision that the Constitutional right to privacy should include a person s choice to terminate their pregnancy. This case became not known as one of a person s right to privacy, but rather the case that legalized abortion (Roe v. Wade). This case, in some ways, is not only about abortion, but it also illustrates the effects of the feminist movements throughout the country. After this landmark decision of the Supreme Court, a woman could now choose if and when to have children. No longer was sex only socially acceptable for married couples ready to procreate. Another event that made a woman s position in American society more independent was the economic recession, sometimes referred to as a stagflation, which occurred during the middle to late part of the 1970s. • 4. The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life. Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers. From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s properties that he had grown up on. Sloan, however, was more disposed to painting scenes he saw in the city, usually involving people from many different walks of life. Even so, a great deal of affinity can be found between ... Sloan s painting also has a lot more focus on the buildings in his picture; they are right in the foreground, and they block out most of the view of the sky. The difference of focus can be seen as one observes and compares that to the more prominent natural components in Constable s piece. Mononucleosis is more commonly referred to as mono or kissing disease because it is transferred by saliva. Mono was first named glandular fever in the 1880s by a group of german physicians; the name stems from the characteristics of having swollen glands and high fever. Glandular fever was given the name Infectious Mononucleosis in 1920 by Thomas P. Sprunt and Frank A. Evans. In 1932, two researchers that go by the names of Paul and Bunnell discovered a way to help doctors diagnose mono more accurately. A few years later Anthony Epstein, Barr and Achong discovered Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) in the year 1964 and categorized it in the herpes family. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Paid Family Leave We all care about a family, we would all drop everything if they were to extremely sick out of nowhere. The only thing that is stopping us from doing this is our work. As medicine keeps on advancing, people will start to live longer than in the past. That would mean that we would have to be very careful with our parents, but how are we going to take care of them if something were to happen to them and not just the elderly but everyone that we care about. Our children, our sisters and brothers, our uncle and aunts and cousins, who knows what could happen to all our loved ones. If we were to get some sort of program or law that would let us be able to take care of our families, then we should make sure that we have job protection and some sort of income that would help us out during the tough times. We should also make sure that every person that is working has the same benefits as every other worker in the U.S. In Lisa Belkin s article Paid Family Leave , she states that we, as a country, should have paid family leave like many other countries around the world. It should not just have to deal with maternity or paternity leave but it should also deal with our sick relatives. The benefits that would come with this are good but the problem that most people have with this program is where the money would come from and if this program were to affect everybody or just a select handful. The benefits that come with paid family leave are good, but what comes because of those benefits outweigh them. A lot of people have said that paid family leave in some way hurts a business but studies have shown that because of paid family leave, workers have been more productive and want to come back and work. Studies have shown that having some sort of program where you can have some sort of leave has increased business productivity and it has made the employees loyal to the company. It boosts the employee s morale, making them want to work (Chen). If you think about it, it would make sense that people are wanting to go to work. If the company would allow this to happen, then they would not have to care about losing their job because of a sick family member and they could continue their work. If a family member ... His intention was to relate England in the 1590s to a mythical land in which each character had a symbolic meaning as well as the events they were undergoing. He lived in an era where Roman Catholicism was replaced with Protestantism and he dedicated himself to unconsciously teach and educate his readers the Catholic Church was corrupted and was the wrong religion to follow. For this reason, he gave each character a common role who would relate to anyone in England and showed the readers how his role in the story symbolized good or evil. The themes he expressed in his books talked about his interpretation in religion, politics, symbolism, and his dedication to make his allegory as influential as possible. As mentioned before, Spencer s feelings about Catholicism were extremely important because in time, England s religious beliefs represented the aspects and motivations of the good and evil. Being the reason why England separated from the Catholic church and formed the Protestant Church, since they defined Catholicism to be evil and dirty. This is when he decided to share his beliefs and write several books that could be interpreted to reveal a hidden moral message. It was a genius idea because he described the protagonists to be knights and princesses as protestants, and the antagonists to be evil snakes and the devil himself that symbolized the Catholic Church. Instead the letter begins with This is what the Lord says, as Yahweh addresses the entire exilic community and identifies himself as the one who exiled them from Jerusalem to Babylon. 6 That being the case, they should make the best of their situation. From the beginning of the story, this theme already could be seen when the writer narrates the atmosphere and scenery of the kingdom with the life of the people. The social status here divides the royal family with the people. The serious relationship between these two groups is prohibited as this will give a bad image to the royal family. That s why the young man is being trialled in the arena as his punishment when the love between the princess and himself has been known by the king. Lastly, the theme that also can be interpreted in this short story is loyalty or we can said, blindly loyal. This theme covers up mostly the part starting when the young man has been accused and will be trialled in the arena. The young man loyal to the king s command and does not dispute or argue about it. A multinational business will have a ‘polycentric orientation, i.e. a focus based on the understanding and appreciation of different operating contexts. This is why an e company by its very nature has to have a global perspective to be successful. Many marketing experts would agree with John Quelch and Edward Hoff when they write, The big issue today is not whether to go global but how to tailor the global marketing concept to fit each business and how to make it work (Quelch and Hoff 60). • 29. Panic Buying Prepper Journal: Panic Buying Maybe That s What They Want Panic buying is the act of buying unusually large amounts of product in anticipation. In anticipation of a perceived or actual disaster, or anticipation of price increases, shortages, or because of anticipated governmental action, action that may ban or increase governmental regulation of a particular product. According to some statistics there are more guns in America than there are people. Obviously, not everyone owns a firearm, so this means that a rather large number of people own more than one, several in fact. There is certainly nothing wrong with this fact, but how do the manufactures sell more guns, if statistically speaking everyone owns one. Some of you may remember growing ... Too much passion involved, and too many knee jerk reactions. People have strong opinions on the matter, and for some, facts and logic cannot sway their thinking, and we certainly will not try. The only thing we can say here is do not panic, do not take anything at face value. Dig down into the small print and read carefully before deciding you need to run out and spend money you don t have for another firearm, because you are convinced that tomorrow the option to buy one is gone. Panic buying will continue, and it is because of a lack of preparedness. Generators, candles, batteries, bread, milk, canned goods, and eggs fly off the shelves hours before the big storm. This is because there are very few that are actually prepared for anything, many do not know how to prepare, do not know what to do in an emergency and so people panic when they do not have the answers, and are not ready. Wikipedia defines it as an automatically guided machine which is able to do tasks on its own. That is a good definition of a robot, but there are few exceptions too. The term robot was first created by Josef Capek. It was used by his brother Karel Capek in his play Rossum s Universal Robots. The word literally means work in Czech. The science fiction author Isaac Asimov was the first person to use the word robotics in his short story Liar! One of the first robots was thought up by Leonardo Da Vinci. R2 D2 and C 3PO each had interesting personalities and major parts in the storyline. Movies have also shown robots in a different way. People thought of the idea that robots will become smarter than humans. This, they think, will cause the robots to destroy the human race. Another hypothetical end would be gray goo, which is when a swarm of nanobots will self replicate until they consume the entire Earth or universe. Even if those events are unlikely to occur, robots can be harmful if they are not working properly, or they aren t being used properly. There has been two deaths caused by robots. One was struck by a robot arm. The other was pushed into a grinding machine. Robotics is still developing, and they still have many flaws in them, many of which are hard to solve. For instance, robots have no intelligence. This makes it hard for them to correct their mistakes. The robot might be doing a task wrong, but it won t notice. This makes it important that there is constant human supervision. Robots also tend to be very pricey. This is because of the many parts in a robot which are needed to accomplish a task. The future of robotics is coming to us very quickly. Soon, other different robots will emerge. Nanotechnology creates robots which cannot be seen with the human eye. These robots can be used in medicine, or they can be used for surgery. Another idea is for robots to change their form based on the task which they are doing. There is also the idea of robots ... Examples of this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl, Mattie, who lives in Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death, is about Prince Prospero, and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death; Pestilence is a poem written about the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. Some of the reoccurring motifs are fear, visions of America, and science. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they were, being a chef would be a horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear is the thought of themselves getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. The Theme Of Restorative Justice In The Kite Runner Restorative justice, a key factor in today s society that allows us to function in a orderly way can be portrayed in many ways such as the loyalty towards one friend or the redemption from despair and pain.In the story The Kite Runner restorative justice is the leading factor in the role of the main character Amir and is quest of redemption. Restorative Justice itself can only be achieved through hard work along with the willingness to change and because of this I feel as though the movie (The Kite Runner) had less of an impact showing the struggle of redeeming oneself unlike the actual book. This being said having the opportunity to watch the film and read the book both greatly impacted how I now view restorative justice. It made the theme of redemption being something you only achieve with hard work and willingness to change oneself clear to me as the reader. Now, likewise to what I said earlier watching the movie and reading the book did in fact make the theme clear to me. The movie, to a certain extent showed how redeeming oneself requires hard work and effort. This can be shown in the scene where Amir literally had to fight in order to take Sohrab from Asself. In addition this can be read in the book when Amir says My memory of the fight with Assef is amazingly vivid in stretches... .In like manner, both adaptations of the story showed how change is necessary for redemption such as how Amir told Soraya of his wrong doing that happened so many years ago. • 34. A Doll s House Review Essay A Doll s House Review A Doll s House was published in Norway in 1879 by Henrik Isben. He is known as the father of Modern Theatre. He is also referred as the father of realism. The play is very interesting because of the funny dialogue, the unique characters, and Ibsen s view of the place of ladies in the public eye. The main characters of the play is Nora Helmer and her husband Torvald Helmer. Imagine what it would be like to live in a doll s home? It s a house in which you are controlled and have no energy to settle on any solid choice; It s a house in which you are a play thing for another person s amusement. This sounds a ton like an awful marriage, so it s a house in which your husband holds the satchel strings, in a manner of speaking, and abandons you with no influence over your family s accounts. In fact, your husband keeps you on a tightrope. Such is the perceived life of Nora Helmer. A Doll s House is an example of a literacy work with numeral possible themes. The idea of the play is an expression of the need for women to escape from the confinement and restriction that they faced in nineteenth century European society, it is supported by the condescending manner in which Torvald treats Nora and by his frequent references to the respective value of men and women. Another theme is in order for a marriage to be successful, the people involved should know and trust each other, show view each other as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Frederick Douglass added to this by writing about his life in his memoir. This was able to happen because Mrs. Auld did not think it was a crime to teach a young slave boy to read and when Mr. Auld tried to put a stop to it, Douglass just gained a bigger thirst for knowledge wanting to learn how to write. With the help of some local young white children, Douglass learned how to write and was able to write down his life in slavery. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Captain Anthony made his aunt have her hands tied and stand on a stool to whip her for being in the company of a young male slave. After seeing her blood on the floor, Frederick feared that the same punishment would happen to him. This shows that the violence surrounding Douglass as a young boy had a great impact on his mental state and how it made his foundation of trust for the white people in his life unstable and start to crumble. Sometimes the masters may not have had the greatest reasons for punishing their slaves. An example of this is when Colonel Lloyd would severely punish old and young Barney for the mistreatment of his horses. Colonel Lloyd would punish them if he felt like his horses had too much or too little grain or hay, if their food was too wet or too dry, or if old Barney left the horses to young Barney s care. Since the slaves could not explain what they did or why they did something the way they did for fear of being punished worse than they would be if they stayed silent, they were forced to take the beatings even if they did nothing wrong. Colonel Lloyd opened up Douglass s eyes that the masters did not care if a slave was young or old, male or female, guilty or innocent to a punishment, if they thought something was done or handled wrong the slave had to pay the price. • 37. The Effect Of Humans s Effect On The Environment In this day in age we often forget our effect on the environment. From driving cars to using paper, we forget that we have a large impact. Research has found that humans have easily used more than 30% of the worlds resources. With the increase in population, this number will increase rapidly. One organization that represents the effects humans have on the environment is World Wildlife Fund or WWF. This organization promotes ads and campaigns to help people see the big picture. It goes without saying that our effect on the environment is one of the most important issues facing us today. When it comes to the effect we have on the environment humans are greedy. Living in a first world we feel entitled to everything. Many organizations promote the effect we have on the environment. Claiming we are over using our resources. In my opinion I agree. One imagine that stood out to me was by WWF. The imagine was made from trees, it depicted human lungs. One area of the lungs was brown and dead. In the imagine you can clearly see that the forest had been harvested. By representing the forest as lungs this ad makes you think of yourself. Are we killing ourselves? In my opinion yes, we are slowly over using major resources. This set of lungs also makes me think about the living animals we are killing by destroying their habitat. Consequently, animals will move and try to survive. But without the proper food and habitat most will not survive. In terms of animals moving to new habitats, humans will discover new species in different parts of the world. This can also damage the environment because every ecosystem is different depending on the environment. As a factor to this we are seeing a rise in endangered species. Therefore, I believe this picture represents the effects humans have on the environment. Many people claim that humans do not have an effect on the environment. According to experts we have the largest impact. Ripping down tree s and harvesting oil we destroy the earth slowly. The organization WWF clearly and effectively represents the effects we have on the environment. For instance, by promoting the forest as a set of lungs it makes us connect environmental damage to ourselves as humans. Such things inside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the many jobs offered by Nestle mean more production of plastic bottles creating more waste and more pollution. As I interviewed one of my classmates, Tiffany Xiong, she brought up the point about how some people might say that water bottles are good because they provide water access for when there are no other options or when access to clean water is lost. Even though the bottled water might provide water in times of crisis, relying too much on bottled water can eventually lead up to the same crisis that other disadvantaged regions are facing. Bottled water might be convenient and fitting for most people, but it is still very expensive and corrupt compared to tap water. Also, bottled water companies have great impacts of producing and distributing millions of gallons of water on global warming.
