Is homework more trouble than it is worth? Many students would say it is. Often times, students will
work on homework for several hours a day and produce no results. Whether it is in tests, quizzes, or
real life situations, improvement does not always show in the results. In fact, homework can cause
many different problems. Teachers should stop assigning homework so students will not feel as
stressed about school, will have more time to do activities, will have less strain in their relationships,
and will not have the negative effects that homework brings.
Having too much homework causes students large amounts of stress and lack of sleep that can cause
health problems. On a survey that Stanford researchers tested on 4317 students, fifty six percent of the
students considered homework a primary source of stress, forty three percent of the students viewed
tests as a primary stressor, thirty three percent put pressure to get good grades in that category
(Parker). Less than one percent of the students said that homework was not a stressor (Parker). That
means that about 4273 students considered homeword a stressor, while less than 50 out of 4317
students believed homework to not be a stressor. Out of the students surveyed, the average amount of

The key realisation recognised throughout my art practice this semester has been my investigation of
various binaries; including the study of public and private spheres, internal and external thoughts, and
individual works versus participatory projects. Further consideration of nostalgia, poetry, and the idea

examining the connection my practice has to gesture and the body where my handwriting is perceived

Exposure to ionizing radiation is of concern to many medical practitioners. The risks of radiation
exposure are well documented within the scientific literature and include cataract formation, skin
cancer, thyroid disease and leukaemia.1 Medical staff who work in the operating theatre are a sizable
population potentially at risk for these complications.2 With advances in medical technology in past
decades and an ongoing trend towards minimally invasive techniques, there has been a significant
increase in the use of fluoroscopy.3 5 During fluoroscopic procedures staff are exposed to both direct
and scattered radiation. Procedures that require long fluoroscopic screening times, such as
interventional radiology, cardiology and orthopaedic surgery, place the proceduralist at high risk of
radiation exposure. Orthopaedic surgeons must often remain close to the x ray beam during
procedures and cannot use distance to reduce radiation exposure.
In recent years, there is a rising alertness concerning the harmful effects of exposure of long term low
dose irradiation. In 2005 a report by Mastrangelo et al identified orthopaedic surgeons as having an

Oscar Wilde s The Importance of Being Earnest presents a satirical play that is used to emphasize the
insignificance and absurdity of certain rules within Victorian society. The main characters in the play
characterize Victorian high society; therefore, the criticism that arises from Wilde s exaggeration
extends further than the play itself. More specifically, Wilde exaggerates the consumption of food,
something that seems to be routine in everyday life. Wilde plays on this theme of presenting such an
ordinary event as an emotionally moving experience. He does this by making a connection between
the presentation of food and a characters feeling of emotion that is unusual during the Victorian
society.
During the Victorian society, it was considered disrespectful for members of the upper classes of
society to show conflicting and personal feelings. In public, any kind of overbearing emotions needed
to be prevented in order to maintain proper appropriateness. In response to these societal rules, Oscar
Wilde uses the characters exaggeration of their food intake to represent the emotions that they are
unable to show. By using food to mask and restrain unpleasant feelings like lust, aggression, and
stress, Wilde conveys the Victorian Era s dislike towards public displays of such emotions.

specific examples of representation within the novel are highlighted due to the fact that they together
compose an allegory.
Within the novel, three main societies are expressed through the representation of various groups or

society is allowed to read and possess literature. The middle society has banned literature in order to

Kelley expresses, the middle society are a people, who willingly give up their right to be happy in
