Understanding Key Words Analysis
1.According to the Google video being clear when you write is when you have a full understanding
and clarity across when your writing. To ensure your writing has clarity you can read it out loud, try
and make it sound as naturally as possible.Try not to use scientific terms so it is more understandable
for regular people you can use the scientific terms but not by itself use them more a definition of what
you are trying to explain.
2.From my understanding key phrases are a phrase that gives the writing meaning or a strong point
across. This message should be used frequently so its not forgotten. Im not sure if I used key phrases
or not in my week of change essay but if it can be just a one word that you can use I would say that

Pershing Square Capital Management Essay
In 2011, Pershing Square Capital Management acquired some 14.2% of Canadian Pacific Railway s
(CP) outstanding shares and proceeded to require several changes in the management and governance
of the company. The CP board resisted fiercely these entreaties, which led to an intense proxy fight.
Eventually, Pershing won the battle and brought in a new CEO and new board members and designed
a new strategy for CP as well. Since the shakeup of the CP s board and senior management, the
company s stock price has more than triple between 2011 and 2016. Furthermore, under the new
management, CP increased operational efficiency, improved performance and enhanced
competitiveness. These performance ratios and financial indicators show that CP benefited ... Show

It is often the case that activist shareholders are only interested in the short term profit; a strategy that
is at odds with the interest of the company and the ordinary shareholders.
In 2016, for example, the hedge fund firm Pershing Square Capital Management sold its 9.8 million
shares it held in CP. At that time, the stake was worth $1.9 billion at the railway s closing price of
$192.49 per share on the Toronto Stock Exchange, while Pershing acquired the stock when it was
trading at around $69 in 2011.
Although CP s performance and efficiency improved after Pershing brought in a new management
between 2011 and 2016, it seems that Pershing was primarily interested in the short term profit from
the investment in CP Rail and not in the long run success and health of the company.
In the case of the bankruptcy of Sears, the company s pensions were short of $300 million in 2018
while the firm s shareholders had received 3 billion over the past few years. Some of payments went
to the U.S. hedge fund ESL Investments and its CEO Eddie Lampert, who took control of Sears in
2005. Former Sear s employees are understandably upset as it looks as if their pensions were
sacrificed at the expense of a hedge fund firm s

Def Leppard Influence On History
Def Leppard
Def Leppard was a music band of the 20th century, that brought heavy metal music to people all
around the world. It all started when five kids came together wanting to play music. Then went on to
be the most well known bands in history. Def Leppard has become one of the best bands of the 20th
century.
Def Leppard was a band that had five kids interested in music in many ways. For example, Phillip
Kenneth became interested when he got his first guitar when he was 16. Also, Rick Allen was 11 years
old when his parents got him his first drum set (Jeffery, 2011). When the band began to play at a
younger age, it inspired them to play for a career. This inspired them to love playing music which lead
them to their successful career. In addition, to them being inspired to play, their childhood has played
a role too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, once Rick Allen got his drum set he practice every morning when he woke up he would

listening to the beatles throughout his childhood (Jeffery, 2011). Their childhood did indeed affect
them to start their career. Since, their childhood played a role they went to start their career, which
later played out as them meeting.
The members of the band came from different paths, but eventually formed one group. Some
examples are, Richard savage and Peter Willis knew each other from school and started up a band
called Atomic Mass. Another example is that Rick Allan dropped out of school to be in the band Def
Leppard (Jeffery, 2011). Once they started the band, Joe Elliott contributed to the naming of the band
Def Leppard . How the band met was very important and that s what started it all. In addition, to them

Killings By Andre Dubus Analysis
The way the plot of Killings by Andre Dubus is arranged changes how the reader sees the characters
in the story. This plot starts out in the present, then goes into the past, then back to the present. There
are two main characters, and three secondary characters in this story. The way the reader views all of
these characters is affected by the plot arrangement. The two primary characters who are most
important to the plot, and also most affected by the plot arrangement, are Matt Fowler and Richard
Strout. Because the first thing the reader reads in the exposition of the story is On the August morning
when Matt Fowler buried his youngest son, Frank, who had lived for twenty one years, eight months,
and four days... pg 93, and not Richard Strout s backstory and reasoning for his actions, they are
immediately persuaded by the author to feel sympathy towards Matt. The author needs the reader to
feel this sympathy so that when Matt kills Strout at the climax of the plot, Matt is not viewed as the
antagonist of the story, but rather as the protagonist. The author needs the reader to view Strout as the
antagonist so that the reader does not dislike Matt, and so that the story is one of justified revenge and
not just another murder. If the reader had been presented with the plot in chronological order, with
Strout s backstory and reasoning for killing Frank first, then the reader might almost feel bad for
Strout. If seen like this, one might conclude that, while he did not take

Comparing Marvell’s To His Coy Mistress and Herrick’s To...
Comparing Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make
Much of Time
Ever since the beginning of time, love has played an enormous role among humans. Everyone feels a
need to love and to be loved. Some attempt to fill this yearning with activities and possessions that
will not satisfy with activities in which they should not participate and possessions they should not
own. In Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress, the speaker encounters an emotion some
would call love but fits better under the designation of lust for a woman. In contrast, the speaker of
Robert Herrick s poem, To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time, urges virgins to marry, to make a
lasting commitment in which love plays a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the lustful lover of Marvell s poem also bases his love on physical beauty, the speaker in
Herrick s poem neither condones nor condemns this societal standard, but simply acknowledges its
existence. Because he realizes beauty plays a huge role in society s standards for marriage, he urges
the virgins he addresses to go marry (14). He explains that they may for ever tarry if they do not marry
when youth and blood are warmer and they are in their prime (16,10,15). After all, who wants to
marry some gnarly old woman?
The speaker in Herrick s poem makes a reasonable request, urging virgins to marry. On the contrary,
the infatuated boyfriend in Marvell s poem makes an unreasonable request, even for today. In essence,
the speaker of Marvell s poem asks his girlfriend to lie with him. Even if God deemed fornication an
acceptable practice, the speaker shows no true love for his girlfriend. The Bible explains, Love is
patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act
unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered
(1 Corinthians 13:4 5). The speaker shows absolutely no patience and looks out only for himself,
clearly indicating he has no love, as 1 Corinthians describes it. Jesus

Arnold s Use Of Gender Roles In Torch Song Trilogy
Torch Song Trilogy
During the movie Torch Song Trilogy there is a use of numerous concepts. Each pertaining to the
relationship with Arnold. This movie took place in Brooklyn 1952, when Arnold was a young boy
until 1977, when Arnold is a grown man. This movie shows how homosexuals try to be happy with
who they are and just not everything goes the way you hope it would. Family may not be accepting
and once you fall in love sometimes it doesn t end up how you expected it would. This was such a
great movie to define homosexuality and the struggles they may go through to find themselves and be
accepting to who they are when everyone around them doesn t accept them.

Jesus The Liberator
Fr. Jon Sobrino, in his book Jesus the Liberator, focuses on the historical Jesus in an effort to highlight
the abuses being suffered by the poor and oppressed in Central and South America. Unfortunately by
highlighting the words and actions of the human Jesus and claiming that the Kingdom of God was
particularly meant for the world of the poor , Sobrino ran afoul of the Congregation of the Doctrine of
Faith (CDF) who believed, among other things, that his argument somehow failed to affirm the
divinity of Jesus the Christ. By focusing on a Christology from below , Sobrino champions the
equalizing of an imbalance of Christologies where the focus tends to be predominantly on the divine
and mystical Christ, also known as Christology from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most Christian Americans do not find themselves in the category of oppressor the way Jesus thought
of them during His time. We learn from Sobrino that Jesus believed the oppressors to be, ...the rich,
scribes and Pharisees, priests and rulers, as those who hold economic, cultural, religious, and political
power... (170). Yet, most Christian Americans also do not find themselves in the abject poverty or
oppressive conditions faced by those during Jesus time and even today in places like Central and
South America, Africa, Asia and the war torn Middle East. Understanding this, Sobrino clearly points
out the need to choose to find solidarity with the poor and oppressed in order to journey towards the
Kingdom of God. As Christians, we understand that we have an obligation to use our time, talent, and
treasure to help do our share in bringing about the Kingdom. What better way in making use of the
attributes than to direct them towards those in most

The Source Woman Of A Great Family And The Virgin Suicides...
Primary Source Paper For this primary source paper, I decided to write a comparison on the source
Women s Place in Renaissance Italy: Alessandra, Letters from a Widow and Matriarch of a Great
Family and The Virgin Suicides written by Jeffrey Eugenides. Immediately reading the first paragraph
of Women s Place in Renaissance Italy, it strongly resonated with The Virgin Suicides in a way. I
thought these two would make an interesting comparison due to the way they both address men, death,
complexity of being a female, and family.
In the primary source, it talks about women from the upper class who gain prestige and power through
widowhood. While lower class women had more freedom in their early life with work and marriage,
upper class women were pressured to keep the wealth going throughout generations which led to a
great deal of pressure to marry a rich man and benefit from that in any way that they could. The source
focuses on a woman named Alessandra, who lived in the years between 1450 1465; married a wealthy
merchant, named Matteo Strozzi, who then died of the plague thus leaving her with branches of
businesses all across Europe and a sudden new access to these things that her husband previously took
charge of. She talked to her sons about their role in the family with political, marital, and economical
issues and duties for the family. She talked to her daughters about the men they should strive to marry
and the duties they have at home that they should learn and do to

Duty to Warn Essays
Duty to Warn Jessica Hall PSYCH/545 09/4/2011 Dr. P. Duty to Warn The ethical dilemma I wish to
explore is The Duty to Warn. This refers to the duty of a counselor, therapist to breach one of the most
important bonds between a client and a therapist; the law of confidentiality. The therapist has the right
to break confidentiality without the fear of being brought up for legal action. If the therapist believes
that the client poses a danger, or is a threat to himself, someone else, or society as a whole, the
therapist must decide how serious of a threat the client may be, then if he decides it s a serious issue,
he must notify the person in danger, which would e the third party, or the police, or other people who

The situation is the decision to breach the confidentiality between a client and his patient. The
therapist has to decide if the client will pose a threat to himself or any other 3rd party, or society as a
whole. If the therapist feels in any way that the client could be a threat, he has the right to notify the
person or the correct officials to insure that no harm comes to anyone involved. 2. Anticipate who will
be affected by your decision. The client would be affected, and his family, if he still has ties with his
parents or siblings. If it was a specific person that the anger was focused on, they would be affected, as
well as their families. If the anger was just targeted at society, society as a whole would be affected.
By making a decision to report such anger, the therapist is taking everyone out of harms ways, or the
chance of potential danger. 3. Figure out if who is the client. In this certain dilemma, the client has
already been identified. 4. Assess the relevant areas competence and of missing knowledge, skills,
experience, or expertise in regard to the relevant aspects of the situation. The therapist has to be ready
for whatever the outcome of his decision may be. The biggest thing will be the breach of
confidentiality, but he is protected by law. It is better for him to report the client to the 3rd party or
official and nothing occurs, then to not report the client, and someone

Human Condition
One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have
differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of existentialism.
Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their consistent and
utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that attempt to answer the
question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a comprehensive approach
whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy.
One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential
questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the
existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating meaning
and purpose. Existentialist thinkers have adopted the belief that following organized ... Show more

Oftentimes, constructs such as religion offer a partial experience, often such systems will see the
meaning and purpose to life as somehow emanating from an alternative, objective realm, such as
heaven. However; in doing so they lose sight of the perspective of what life is like for an individual
living on this earth and experiencing all the fears, anxieties, hopes and disappointments that are a part
of the human condition. For example, many of the mass organized religions often provide answers to
many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and all powerful God,
whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. However, existentialists stress that
what we most need is not a divine perspective of the human condition, but a human perspective, for as
Nietzsche put it we are ultimately, much to his chagrin, human, all too

Justice And Justice In Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice
In Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, there is a conflict between two understandings of justice
justice as the letter of the law and justice as mercy. Because this play is typically classified as a
comedy, it is natural to view the trial s ruling against Shylock as just, since this best fits in with the
genre of Comedy. My aim is to show that this interpretation is not without its problems, and is in fact
called into question by the text. I will accomplish this analyzing the legal aspects of the court s ruling
and the tribal behavior of the Venetian Christians, as well as taking a close look at the supposed mercy
shown by Antonio to Shylock. After dissecting these ideas, I will relate them to several modern
questions of justice and their accompanying tradeoffs.
Without further ado, et us meet our plaintiff turned defendant, Shylock. While his motives are
questionable (to say the least), Shylock does remain logical in his own defense, at one point saying:
Till thou canst rail the seal from off my bond,
Thou but offend st thy lungs to speak so loud.
Repair thy wit, good youth, or it will fall
To cureless ruin. I stand here for law.
(4.1.141 4) Here, Shylock stands firm in his argument, essentially asserting that his right to contract is
unassailable, regardless of the emotional attacks his Christian opponents throw at him. This is quite
representative of the trial as a whole: Shylock remains dispassionate and uses sound argument, while
his adversaries are emotional and

A Journal Of The Plague Year
A Journal of the Plague Year , is a novel written in first person, told by the protagonist H.F. It was
written by Daniel Defoe and speaks of the plague that occurred in London. This book was published
about 57 years after the plague occurred. This novel is a story of his experiences during that plague
that occurred in London in the year 1665. It is a fictional book but there is a lot of data, statistics, and
even government documents throughout the pages.
H.F. speaks on how the plague must have come to them from Holland. As the plague worsens H.F.
wonders if he should leave the city or not after the number of deaths starts to rise. The main reason he
does not want to leave is because he is a saddler and feels like he needs to stay and keep up his shop.
He knew that if he left he would lose his business and all he had worked for.
Throughout his story we gain and understanding of his observations and how he was seeing this
horrible plague affect his home. He notices that the rich are leaving the city while the poor have no
choice but to stay and try and fight for their lives. Once H.F. does decide to flee the city we learn that
things are not going to go as smoothly as he had hoped. H.F. had hoped to find a horse to help flee the

Anti-Semitism In Ww2
Desmond Tutu once said, if you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the
oppressor. The United States of America knew about the atrocities being committed in World War II,
and still did nothing. America is complicit in the deaths of all those we turned away. When the St.
Louis brought us Germany s huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we turned away, dooming so
many souls on that ship. But why? Are we not a nation created by immigrants fleeing persecution?
The cold, hard truth of the matter is that the United States let six million people die because of
institutionalized anti semitism, which impacted the economic crisis and isolationist policy within the
government.
In 1883 Emma Lazarus wrote upon the Statue of Liberty give me your tired, your poor, your huddled
masses yearning to breathe free. Apparently, in the 1930s, unless they re Jews was added in fine print.
Of course, anti semitism in the United States was nothing new, especially in cities. Jewish people were
banned from hotels, businesses, and even beaches. It was perfectly legal for someone to be fired
because he or she was Jewish. That is why, when Hitler came to power, America did not even flinch.
In fact, many Americans rallied behind his intense nationalist policies. Organizations sprung up in ...

Anthropomorphism in Greek Myth Essay
Paper #1: The role of anthropomorphism in Greek mythology.
God created man in his image, and man, being a gentleman, returned the compliment.
Mark Twain
In his beginning, man was part of nature. He knew little about the causes of natural phenomenon and
certainly knew of no way to control them. This is perhaps the reason for his creation of ritual and later
religion. As man evolved he began to consider the possibilities of gaining some type of control over
his environment. If nature was simply a random set of events ruled only by chaos than this wouldn t
be possible. However, if something or better yet someone was in control, one could acquire what they
desired by pleasing this entity. In the beginning, according to some ... Show more content on

It is obvious therefore that there are, as always seems to be the case, exceptions; however in most
cases the gods are seen as similar to man s image. Aside form the human form, gods speak the same
language as the Greeks and use the same organs to do so, in other words, no telepathy. While they are
able in some cases to reproduce asexually, sexual reproduction seems to be the more often used
method. The asexual reproduction of Gaea produced Uranus, the Mountains, and Pontus. Later her
sexual reproduction with Uranus produced numerous offspring. While the use of sexual reproduction
was human like (obviously not exclusive to humans but still human like), the use of alternative
reproduction was represented in the myths. An example of such an alternative would be the
conception of the Giants and Erinyes by Gaea when the blood of Uranus fell onto her. While the
Greeks seem to have known that human reproduction was related to the sperm entering the woman,
they also seem to think the Gods had ways to bypass this requirement. Going along with this
observation of sperm into woman, they Greeks recognized the woman as the vessel in which life
developed, whether she attributed to this life s origination is another question. However there are some
exceptions to this such as when Zeus eats his pregnant wife, thus becoming the

technologies revolve, more initiative has been taken to ensure that the scholarly works of an institution
can be disseminated to various part of the world in order to share the knowledge. During the early
days the information is published using printed method and the time taken to disseminate it is far too
long and the cost is also very high. Other than that, it is very hard to preserve printed materials in a big
number. As the institution is now using digital format in publishing their scholarly works, the process
of disseminating the knowledge become easier and faster. Now days the digitization activity for
materials seems to be increasing as people are now more concern about the preservation of printed
materials which lead to the needs of a repository to keep and manage those materials.
Today s institutions are mostly now having their own institutional repository. What is an

The Wife of His Youth
Question: Discuss the theme of race in Chesnutt The Wife of His Youth ?
After the civil war, racial issues affect society and Charles Chesnutt a regional realist writer tackles the
subject. The difference between black and white, which should logically disappear, increases, and the
African American community is experiencing exclusion in some societies. Chesnutt through his text
The Wife of his youth refers to the problem by showing the contrast between black and white. He does
not hesitate to create a character belonging to the two worlds so that embodies the image of a possible
unification.
The essay begins by the exclusion accentuated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the guests become witnesses and take part in the story. Mr Ryder tells the story as an exterior
character, we can note the use of the pronoun he throughout its history.
He raises many questions to guests to make sure they understand the situation and that they approve of
his decision; Suppose That he was young, and she much older than he, that she was light, and she was
black (Chesnutt 35), Suppose, too, that he made his way to the North ... (Chesnutt 35). He does not
seek to prolong the suspense, but to test and measure the reaction of the members. This attitude shows
that despite his loyalty to his wife, he is none the less attached to his current status. He unveils the
truth when he feels that the members approve the eventual choice; And now, ladies and gentlemen,
friends and companions, I ask you, what he should have done? (Chesnutt 36).
Presumably Chesnutt put his character in a dilemma in order to show that unification is possible
because at the end members share the opinion of Ryder knowing that Liza is black. This is more than
an approval; it is a step forward.
Charles Chesnutt uses some specific techniques of regional realist. First, he plays with the tone of his
characters by using the regional dialect, but he describes some real facts, as in many others of his
writings. For example in The Goophered Grape Vine (26), the narrator is an old black and the

The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car
Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous
situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an
excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about
autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are
insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making
abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, as we look to do so, we
are also departing from the ethical philosophy that has been utilized for many years to pioneer many
of the safety features, laws, and regulations to enhance automobile ... Show more content on

However, there was little discussion about the significant consequences associated with the human
driver s split second decision (Lin, n.d.). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react
to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a
cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral
philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently,
manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react
in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these
excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also
enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they
have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate
and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air
bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed
to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). Consequently, enabling consumers to
reap the many other safety benefits of autonomous vehicles, while having a clear understanding that
when faced with a split second perilous decision, the vehicle will mirror the instinctual actions of a
human driver, utilize deontological moral philosophy, and attempt to safeguard the lives of the car s

The Evolution Of Leadership And Organizational Impact
Leadership History: The Evolution of Leadership and Organizational Impact
Keywords: Leader, leadership, organizational impact, organizational performance
Introduction
The common denominator, according to Stone and Patterson (2005), shared by biblical patriots, Greek
heroes Egyptian rulers is leadership; regardless of its influence, their lessons and philosophies
continue to contribute to leadership today. This paper will present the definition of leadership that
provides a framework for exploring leadership theories in this paper, and the subsequent impact on
individual and organizational performance, while providing recommendations for future exploration
of global expansion.
Leadership Definition Leadership is comprised of three components: (1) a bi directional process
during which a transaction occurs between the leader and the follower; (2) influence, the affect the
leader has on followers; and (3) it occurs in groups of individuals focused on achieving a common
objective or task (Northouse, 2013; Lussier Achua, 2013). Therefore, a concise definition of
leadership according to Northouse is, a process whereby an individual influences a group of
individuals to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2013, p. 5). The differentiation between leadership
and management is the former establishes direction, aligns people, provides motivation and inspiration
(Northouse, 2013). Influence, when coupled with power provides a moving force. While permeating

Oaxaca Background
My background began with my birth in Managua, Nicaragua and my father was born in Oaxaca,
Mexico. I remember when I was younger and I thought to my self, Why do I have a beautiful name
with a unappealing last name Pablo ? And Why do boys use the adjective exotic to describe my beauty
? These questions boggled me until my late teens since my mother was unable to clarify to me my
father s background. They divorced when I was 5 years old and the only origin fact she had about my
father was that he and his family were Oaxacan Indians. On account of the lack of relationship my
siblings and I have with our father, we grew up in the shadows of not knowing our Mexican heritage.

I always thought of Mexico s history as a whole, failing to realize that each state in Mexico has its

Oaxaca written by History.com Staff gives a magnificent insight of the history of Oaxaca beginning
from 1500, 500 b.c. and to today s date. To be candid after reading the article I feel that Oaxaca is
underrated and outshine by other exotic places in Mexico. Oaxaca is full iconic ruins build by the
Zapotecas. Who in my view have a great amount of similarities between the Mayan group as far as
intellectual and creativity. According to History.com, The Zapoteca were skilled in astronomy and
excavation, and leveled the top of a local a local mountain around 450 B.C and created the ceremonial
center now called Monte Alban. One of the most densely populated cities in Mesoamerica, Monte
Alban is estimated to have had 18,000 Zapotecan residents at its peak (History.com Staff). Indeed, that
is an astonishing fact I was unaware of as the case may be for other individuals who are unenlightened

The Synthesis of Aspirin Chemistry Standard Level Lab Report Data Collection and Processing and
Conclusion and Evaluation Date: December 8th, 2011 Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to
synthesize aspirin, determine the theoretical yield, compare the percent yield to the theoretical yield
and test the purity of aspirin by adding Iron (III) chloride to the product. Hypothesis: I hypothesize
that salicylic acid will react with acetic anhydride to produce acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and acetic
acid (vinegar). Variables: Independent and controlled variables: The amount of sulfuric acid used for
catalysis and the amount of salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. Dependent variables: Theoretical and

The aspirin crystals were washed by pouring 10 mL of water over them through the funnel. The filter
paper, holding the aspirin crystals, was removed from the funnel and was left to dry before being
weighed. Once the aspirin crystals were weighed, the theoretical yield and the percent yield of the
experiment were calculated. The procedure was repeated once more using the same steps. Procedure
for the test of purity of aspirin: 0.1 gram of salicylic acid was weighed in a tray and was then added to
a test tube containing 2.0 mL of Iron (III) chloride, which was measured using a 10 mL graduated
cylinder, to test for phenols. 0.1 gram of commercial aspirin was weighed in a tray and was then added
to a second test tube containing 2.0 mL of Iron (III) chloride, which was measured using a 10 mL
graduated cylinder, to test for phenols. This was repeated once more to validate results. 0.1 gram of
my product from the first trial was weighed in a tray and was then added to a third test tube containing
2.0 mL of Iron (III) chloride, which was measured using a 10 mL graduated cylinder, to test for

Protecting Ip And The Ethical Issues Related
In a world where innovation, technology, and the digital age is moving at such a rapid rate, Intellectual
Property (IP) becomes a hot button across business, law and ethics. In like manner, the complications
with protecting and managing IP increases. The demand on IP policy has grown from the need to
protect a simple invention, such as a light bulb, to the need to protect an idea, a slogan, or even a gene
(i.e. biotech). To further complicate things, IP protections are no longer just in the interest of
preserving a trade secret; it is now focused on monetary gains, economic strength and a means for
businesses to compete. One can only imagine how complex the issues can become when focused on so
many issues. This paper will discuss why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By striking the right balance between the interests of innovators and the wider public interest, the IP
system aims to foster an environment in which creativity and innovation can flourish. Therefore, IP is
a critical piece of our country s economic development, social and cultural welfare. Enforcement of
these protections are relied upon in many industries, scientists and not to mention, many artists. It
helps to foster competition, betterment, creativity and innovation. In addition, the American consumer
benefits as IP ensures they are purchasing products that are safe and effective. Given these points,
there is no doubt that IP rights must be protected in order for the U.S. to continue to be productive.
One key reason protecting IP is important is its impact on the U.S. job market. IP industries put forty
million Americans to work and it is expected that as technology continues to advance, those industries
will continue to grow and do so rapidly. This is expected to happen not just in the U.S., but globally.
In addition, IP intensive positions tend to pay higher salaries averaging about $50,576 per employee in
comparison to the national average of $38,768. (U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 2016) IP is also a key
aspect of the overall U.S. Economy. With IP intensive industries accounting for more than one third of
the U.S. GDP, it has become key to the country s economic growth. Currently, U.S. IP is worth $5.8
trillion, more than the nominal

Applications of Piaget and Vygostsky s cognitive developmental theories in a practical classroom
environment Piaget and Vygotsky have antonymous beliefs when dealing with the concepts of
cognitive development. Vygotsky believes in development through social behaviour whilst Piaget
believes in individuals acquiring knowledge on their own. Both however, believe that the interaction
between development and learning hold significant implications for a child s growth. This essay
discusses some of the philosophical beliefs of each theorist in regards to a scenario based in the
classroom of a year five teacher named Ann. Ann reinforces classroom lessons through the outdoor

Woolfolk amp; Markets (2007) discuss the use of certain cultural tools playing an important role in
cognitive development; these tools can be anything from the Internet to language or numbers. Ann
displays techniques through collaborative group work that run true to these theories. Piaget also
suggested an individual would not come to organise his/her operations in a coherent whole if they did
not engage in thought exchanges and cooperation with others (Piaget, 1947, p. 174). Ann is breaking
students up into different groups to perform different activities; this is portrayed through one group
collecting rainfall data and another group taking notes on the impact the rain has on ants living in the
area. Ann s socially constructive pedagogical approach to her lessons through the use of cooperative
learning will exemplify Vygotsky s theories of peer peer scaffolding as well as the zone of proximal
development. Vygotsky s theory The zone of proximal development is also being demonstrated
through Ann s teaching methods for her year five class. The zone of proximal development refers to a
conceivable range of learning evolution in regards to the students age and the amount of assisted
knowledge they are given. This information can be given through direct information, scaffolding or
cooperative learning. Ann (as the more knowledgeable) would be required to offer a certain level of
information to the children before expecting them to

Term Investment Tactics That A Capital Market Analyst
Everything comes at an expense. The world revolves upon an axis of currency. Although this has an
immoral implication, it contributes to capital market analysts having a job. They are responsible for
abetting clients, or investors, distinguish when to purchase/sell their shares in the stock market.
Besides aiding them with stocks, a capital market analyst yields several presentations and
demonstrates they have an established affiliation with the bank. Before helping the investors identify
when to purchase and sell, they must assist them decide on what to capitalize in. There happen to be
various different long term investment tactics that a capital market analyst may practice. One strategy
they may exercise is investing in a stock and industry that their client comprehends. If the client has
no knowledge in the industry, it remains dangerous since they are not informed on what is happening
within the field. Another approach is to begin investing as early as possible; this allows the money to
have additional time to multiply. The other tactic is to diversify the investments. This safeguards
investors if one industry or the stock crashes; they ensure to not completely lose all of the money they
have invested. As of now, pharmaceuticals and 3D printing happen to be two industries that remain
appropriate for a long term investment. There are several explanations why the pharmaceutical
industry is a popular long investment industry amid capital market analysts.

Overpopulation Is A Global Catastrophe
Naturally, as our population grows in size our growth rate increases exponentially. As a result, we face
the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends discussed in Anthony Barnosky and
Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is
expected that we will reach a population size over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100.
Along with this massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water
shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent
these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating
overpopulation a global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and
contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent
overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and
the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the
population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a
pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population density and nation level conflict has
been made, the connection between overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998).
Thus, it would be preferable to take advantage of the other solutions like the one child policy that

Supernova Persuasive Essay
A possible external threat from space that could result in the extinction of human life on Earth is a
supernova. A supernova is an explosion of a star in the universe. There are more than a hundred billion
stars in our milky way galaxy (226). Most of the star explosions happen fairly far away from our solar
system. However, because our sun orbits the galaxy we will be neighbouring different sets of stars at
different points in time. Sometimes we are even just tens of light years away from a supernova (226).
The closer you are to a supernova the most damage will be done. When supernovae happen there are
large amounts of very high energy particles called cosmic rays that can cause lethal mutations which
lead to mass extinctions (226). Apart from

Residential Schools Vs. Public Schools
Residential School s were introduced back in the 1870 s, they were made to change the way native
children spoke their languages and how they viewed their cultures. The residential school system in
Canada was operated by the government, where the native children were aggressively forced away
from their loved ones to participate in these schools (1000 Conversations). The government had a
concept, where they can modernize the native children, aged of three to eighteen and extinguish the
aboriginal culture. In the twentieth century the Canadian Public School s had arrived and had
improved treatments than residential schools. In Contrast, the treatments within these schools were
both different, whereas Canadian public school students had more freedom than residential school
students because children were taken away from their families. However, the treatment in these
schools were different and some what similar. Even though Residential schools and Canadian Public
schools were similar in some form, there were numerous amounts of differences in how the children
were taught, how they were treated and how their living conditions were like throughout these
schools.
Residential schools were the one of the worst decisions the Canadian government had made. As they
planned this idea with the churches across Canada, it became unforgettable for the native people.
These schools changed the way native people lived in Canada. The children in these schools were
abused and neglected everyday

  • 3. Pershing Square Capital Management Essay In 2011, Pershing Square Capital Management acquired some 14.2% of Canadian Pacific Railway s (CP) outstanding shares and proceeded to require several changes in the management and governance of the company. The CP board resisted fiercely these entreaties, which led to an intense proxy fight. Eventually, Pershing won the battle and brought in a new CEO and new board members and designed a new strategy for CP as well. Since the shakeup of the CP s board and senior management, the company s stock price has more than triple between 2011 and 2016. Furthermore, under the new management, CP increased operational efficiency, improved performance and enhanced competitiveness. These performance ratios and financial indicators show that CP benefited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is often the case that activist shareholders are only interested in the short term profit; a strategy that is at odds with the interest of the company and the ordinary shareholders. In 2016, for example, the hedge fund firm Pershing Square Capital Management sold its 9.8 million shares it held in CP. At that time, the stake was worth $1.9 billion at the railway s closing price of $192.49 per share on the Toronto Stock Exchange, while Pershing acquired the stock when it was trading at around $69 in 2011. Although CP s performance and efficiency improved after Pershing brought in a new management between 2011 and 2016, it seems that Pershing was primarily interested in the short term profit from the investment in CP Rail and not in the long run success and health of the company. In the case of the bankruptcy of Sears, the company s pensions were short of $300 million in 2018 while the firm s shareholders had received 3 billion over the past few years. Some of payments went to the U.S. hedge fund ESL Investments and its CEO Eddie Lampert, who took control of Sears in 2005. Former Sear s employees are understandably upset as it looks as if their pensions were sacrificed at the expense of a hedge fund firm s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It all started when five kids came together wanting to play music. Then went on to be the most well known bands in history. Def Leppard has become one of the best bands of the 20th century. Def Leppard was a band that had five kids interested in music in many ways. For example, Phillip Kenneth became interested when he got his first guitar when he was 16. Also, Rick Allen was 11 years old when his parents got him his first drum set (Jeffery, 2011). When the band began to play at a younger age, it inspired them to play for a career. • 5. Killings By Andre Dubus Analysis The way the plot of Killings by Andre Dubus is arranged changes how the reader sees the characters in the story. This plot starts out in the present, then goes into the past, then back to the present. There are two main characters, and three secondary characters in this story. The way the reader views all of these characters is affected by the plot arrangement. The two primary characters who are most important to the plot, and also most affected by the plot arrangement, are Matt Fowler and Richard Strout. Because the first thing the reader reads in the exposition of the story is On the August morning when Matt Fowler buried his youngest son, Frank, who had lived for twenty one years, eight months, and four days... pg 93, and not Richard Strout s backstory and reasoning for his actions, they are immediately persuaded by the author to feel sympathy towards Matt. The author needs the reader to feel this sympathy so that when Matt kills Strout at the climax of the plot, Matt is not viewed as the antagonist of the story, but rather as the protagonist. The author needs the reader to view Strout as the antagonist so that the reader does not dislike Matt, and so that the story is one of justified revenge and not just another murder. If the reader had been presented with the plot in chronological order, with Strout s backstory and reasoning for killing Frank first, then the reader might almost feel bad for Strout. If seen like this, one might conclude that, while he did not take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Comparing Marvell’s To His Coy Mistress and Herrick’s To... Comparing Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time Ever since the beginning of time, love has played an enormous role among humans. Everyone feels a need to love and to be loved. Some attempt to fill this yearning with activities and possessions that will not satisfy with activities in which they should not participate and possessions they should not own. In Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress, the speaker encounters an emotion some would call love but fits better under the designation of lust for a woman. In contrast, the speaker of Robert Herrick s poem, To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time, urges virgins to marry, to make a lasting commitment in which love plays a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the lustful lover of Marvell s poem also bases his love on physical beauty, the speaker in Herrick s poem neither condones nor condemns this societal standard, but simply acknowledges its existence. Because he realizes beauty plays a huge role in society s standards for marriage, he urges the virgins he addresses to go marry (14). He explains that they may for ever tarry if they do not marry when youth and blood are warmer and they are in their prime (16,10,15). After all, who wants to marry some gnarly old woman? The speaker in Herrick s poem makes a reasonable request, urging virgins to marry. On the contrary, the infatuated boyfriend in Marvell s poem makes an unreasonable request, even for today. In essence, the speaker of Marvell s poem asks his girlfriend to lie with him. Even if God deemed fornication an acceptable practice, the speaker shows no true love for his girlfriend. The Bible explains, Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered (1 Corinthians 13:4 5). The speaker shows absolutely no patience and looks out only for himself, clearly indicating he has no love, as 1 Corinthians describes it. Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Jesus The Liberator Fr. Jon Sobrino, in his book Jesus the Liberator, focuses on the historical Jesus in an effort to highlight the abuses being suffered by the poor and oppressed in Central and South America. Unfortunately by highlighting the words and actions of the human Jesus and claiming that the Kingdom of God was particularly meant for the world of the poor , Sobrino ran afoul of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith (CDF) who believed, among other things, that his argument somehow failed to affirm the divinity of Jesus the Christ. By focusing on a Christology from below , Sobrino champions the equalizing of an imbalance of Christologies where the focus tends to be predominantly on the divine and mystical Christ, also known as Christology from ... We learn from Sobrino that Jesus believed the oppressors to be, ...the rich, scribes and Pharisees, priests and rulers, as those who hold economic, cultural, religious, and political power... (170). Yet, most Christian Americans also do not find themselves in the abject poverty or oppressive conditions faced by those during Jesus time and even today in places like Central and South America, Africa, Asia and the war torn Middle East. Understanding this, Sobrino clearly points out the need to choose to find solidarity with the poor and oppressed in order to journey towards the Kingdom of God. As Christians, we understand that we have an obligation to use our time, talent, and treasure to help do our share in bringing about the Kingdom. • 9. The Source Woman Of A Great Family And The Virgin Suicides... Primary Source Paper For this primary source paper, I decided to write a comparison on the source Women s Place in Renaissance Italy: Alessandra, Letters from a Widow and Matriarch of a Great Family and The Virgin Suicides written by Jeffrey Eugenides. Immediately reading the first paragraph of Women s Place in Renaissance Italy, it strongly resonated with The Virgin Suicides in a way. I thought these two would make an interesting comparison due to the way they both address men, death, complexity of being a female, and family. In the primary source, it talks about women from the upper class who gain prestige and power through widowhood. While lower class women had more freedom in their early life with work and marriage, upper class women were pressured to keep the wealth going throughout generations which led to a great deal of pressure to marry a rich man and benefit from that in any way that they could. The source focuses on a woman named Alessandra, who lived in the years between 1450 1465; married a wealthy merchant, named Matteo Strozzi, who then died of the plague thus leaving her with branches of businesses all across Europe and a sudden new access to these things that her husband previously took charge of. She talked to her sons about their role in the family with political, marital, and economical issues and duties for the family. She talked to her daughters about the men they should strive to marry and the duties they have at home that they should learn and do to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This refers to the duty of a counselor, therapist to breach one of the most important bonds between a client and a therapist; the law of confidentiality. The therapist has the right to break confidentiality without the fear of being brought up for legal action. If the therapist believes that the client poses a danger, or is a threat to himself, someone else, or society as a whole, the therapist must decide how serious of a threat the client may be, then if he decides it s a serious issue, he must notify the person in danger, which would e the third party, or the police, or other people who may be in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The situation is the decision to breach the confidentiality between a client and his patient. The therapist has to decide if the client will pose a threat to himself or any other 3rd party, or society as a whole. If the therapist feels in any way that the client could be a threat, he has the right to notify the person or the correct officials to insure that no harm comes to anyone involved. 2. Anticipate who will be affected by your decision. The client would be affected, and his family, if he still has ties with his parents or siblings. If it was a specific person that the anger was focused on, they would be affected, as well as their families. If the anger was just targeted at society, society as a whole would be affected. By making a decision to report such anger, the therapist is taking everyone out of harms ways, or the chance of potential danger. 3. Figure out if who is the client. In this certain dilemma, the client has already been identified. 4. • 11. Human Condition One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of existentialism. Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their consistent and utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that attempt to answer the question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a comprehensive approach whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy. One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating meaning and purpose. Existentialist thinkers have adopted the belief that following organized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However; in doing so they lose sight of the perspective of what life is like for an individual living on this earth and experiencing all the fears, anxieties, hopes and disappointments that are a part of the human condition. For example, many of the mass organized religions often provide answers to many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and all powerful God, whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. • 12. Justice And Justice In Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice In Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, there is a conflict between two understandings of justice justice as the letter of the law and justice as mercy. Because this play is typically classified as a comedy, it is natural to view the trial s ruling against Shylock as just, since this best fits in with the genre of Comedy. My aim is to show that this interpretation is not without its problems, and is in fact called into question by the text. I will accomplish this analyzing the legal aspects of the court s ruling and the tribal behavior of the Venetian Christians, as well as taking a close look at the supposed mercy shown by Antonio to Shylock. After dissecting these ideas, I will relate them to several modern questions of justice and their accompanying tradeoffs. Without further ado, et us meet our plaintiff turned defendant, Shylock. While his motives are questionable (to say the least), Shylock does remain logical in his own defense, at one point saying: Till thou canst rail the seal from off my bond, Thou but offend st thy lungs to speak so loud. Repair thy wit, good youth, or it will fall To cureless ruin. I stand here for law. (4.1.141 4) Here, Shylock stands firm in his argument, essentially asserting that his right to contract is unassailable, regardless of the emotional attacks his Christian opponents throw at him. This is quite representative of the trial as a whole: Shylock remains dispassionate and uses sound argument, while his adversaries are emotional and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States of America knew about the atrocities being committed in World War II, and still did nothing. America is complicit in the deaths of all those we turned away. When the St. Louis brought us Germany s huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we turned away, dooming so many souls on that ship. But why? Are we not a nation created by immigrants fleeing persecution? The cold, hard truth of the matter is that the United States let six million people die because of institutionalized anti semitism, which impacted the economic crisis and isolationist policy within the government. In 1883 Emma Lazarus wrote upon the Statue of Liberty give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Mark Twain In his beginning, man was part of nature. He knew little about the causes of natural phenomenon and certainly knew of no way to control them. This is perhaps the reason for his creation of ritual and later religion. As man evolved he began to consider the possibilities of gaining some type of control over his environment. If nature was simply a random set of events ruled only by chaos than this wouldn t be possible. However, if something or better yet someone was in control, one could acquire what they desired by pleasing this entity. In the beginning, according to some ... While they are able in some cases to reproduce asexually, sexual reproduction seems to be the more often used method. The asexual reproduction of Gaea produced Uranus, the Mountains, and Pontus. Later her sexual reproduction with Uranus produced numerous offspring. While the use of sexual reproduction was human like (obviously not exclusive to humans but still human like), the use of alternative reproduction was represented in the myths. An example of such an alternative would be the conception of the Giants and Erinyes by Gaea when the blood of Uranus fell onto her. While the Greeks seem to have known that human reproduction was related to the sperm entering the woman, they also seem to think the Gods had ways to bypass this requirement. Going along with this observation of sperm into woman, they Greeks recognized the woman as the vessel in which life developed, whether she attributed to this life s origination is another question. This is because some of the institution did not have a very large storage to cater the needs to keep the materials as the institution not only keep materials publish from the institution only but also from another institution. As the technologies revolve, more initiative has been taken to ensure that the scholarly works of an institution can be disseminated to various part of the world in order to share the knowledge. During the early days the information is published using printed method and the time taken to disseminate it is far too long and the cost is also very high. Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently, manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). This paper will present the definition of leadership that provides a framework for exploring leadership theories in this paper, and the subsequent impact on individual and organizational performance, while providing recommendations for future exploration of global expansion. Leadership Definition Leadership is comprised of three components: (1) a bi directional process during which a transaction occurs between the leader and the follower; (2) influence, the affect the leader has on followers; and (3) it occurs in groups of individuals focused on achieving a common objective or task (Northouse, 2013; Lussier Achua, 2013). As a result, we face the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends discussed in Anthony Barnosky and Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is expected that we will reach a population size over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100. Along with this massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating overpopulation a global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a pandemic could occur.
