– How much something had been classified. (4/5 5 stars, 95% etc)

– How many products have been bought.
Primary Research
• Definition
– Research what you have done.
• Advantages
– You can research to collect information that you might need for
your work. Also ask questions during and interview.
• Disadvantages
– You can take a long time to research and finding the right people
to ask.
• Example
– Questionnaires/Surveys, interviews, focus groups, vox pops and
product analysis
Secondary Research
• Definition
– Previously done research, using existing research in your
project.
• Advantages
– Can find own sources already done for your wide range of
resources.
• Disadvantages
– Might not be quite what you want.
• Example
– Internet research, library research and archive research
Quantitative Research
• Definition
– Research and put into percentages, fractions and numbers.
• Advantages
– Using graphics you can know if they like your
work/product.
• Disadvantages
– Lack of detail, you can’t have enough information.
• Example
– Sales, box office figures, website hits, TV rating and closed
questions.
Qualitative Research
• Definition
– Research what the people think, if they like or not.
• Advantages
– You can improve your work by using open questions from
the others.
• Disadvantages
– You might not get the information that you need or don’t
understand what they want.
• Example
– Reviews, responses, discussions and forums.
Audience Research
• Definition
– Finding out who consumes your product.
• Advantages
– You can improve your product by asking them questions.
– It can help you to understand your audience
• Disadvantages
– It can limit your creativity.
– It can be hard to collect all information that you need.
• Example
– Films, newspaper, magazines, television programs, etc.
Market Research
• Definition
– Where the product is sold.
• Advantages
– It helps you to minimize risks and focus attention on objectives.
– Helps you to identify opportunities in the market.
• Disadvantages
– They only produce qualitative information which is not
representative.
– Information only as good as the method used.
• Example
– Market research your business can use to test your business
idea, find customers, and create new products.
Production Research
• Definition
– Information and resources needed for budgets or crow.
• Advantages
– Helps to explain the features of the product.
• Disadvantages
– It can be very time consuming.
• Example
– An online library so that you can find out information
about what books you want to buy.
Terminology
• Objective
– It isn’t influenced by personal feelings or opinions.
• Subjective
– Has been influenced by personal feelings or opinions.
• Valid
– It is able to answer the intended outcome/questions.
• Reliable
– It produces accurate and consistent results.

  • 3. Primary Research • Definition – Research what you have done. • Advantages – You can research to collect information that you might need for your work. Also ask questions during and interview. • Disadvantages – You can take a long time to research and finding the right people to ask. • Example – Questionnaires/Surveys, interviews, focus groups, vox pops and product analysis

Secondary Research • Definition – Previously done research, using existing research in your project. • Advantages – Can find own sources already done for your wide range of resources. • Disadvantages – Might not be quite what you want. • Example – Internet research, library research and archive research

Quantitative Research • Definition – Research and put into percentages, fractions and numbers. • Advantages – Using graphics you can know if they like your work/product. • Disadvantages – Lack of detail, you can’t have enough information. • Example – Sales, box office figures, website hits, TV rating and closed questions.

Qualitative Research • Definition – Research what the people think, if they like or not. • Advantages – You can improve your work by using open questions from the others. • Disadvantages – You might not get the information that you need or don’t understand what they want. • Example – Reviews, responses, discussions and forums.

Audience Research • Definition – Finding out who consumes your product. • Advantages – You can improve your product by asking them questions. – It can help you to understand your audience • Disadvantages – It can limit your creativity. – It can be hard to collect all information that you need. • Example – Films, newspaper, magazines, television programs, etc.

Market Research • Definition – Where the product is sold. • Advantages – It helps you to minimize risks and focus attention on objectives. – Helps you to identify opportunities in the market. • Disadvantages – They only produce qualitative information which is not representative. – Information only as good as the method used. • Example – Market research your business can use to test your business idea, find customers, and create new products.

Production Research • Definition – Information and resources needed for budgets or crow. • Advantages – Helps to explain the features of the product. • Disadvantages – It can be very time consuming. • Example – An online library so that you can find out information about what books you want to buy.
  • 10. Terminology • Objective – It isn’t influenced by personal feelings or opinions. • Subjective – Has been influenced by personal feelings or opinions. • Valid – It is able to answer the intended outcome/questions. • Reliable – It produces accurate and consistent results.
