Q4. Who would be theQ4. Who would be the
aaudience for yourudience for your
media product?media product?
These are two mood boards for our film opening and its target
audience. One slide will analyse the female target audience and
the other will present the male target audience. Both of the
target audiences, male and female are older teenagers aged, 15-
21. Despite our opening having two target audiences, it is likely
more females will be interested in our film and therefore we will
focus on them.
Female audience
• Hipster/alternative teenage girls, because we used a range of unique shots
and our concept is quite original. Therefore the mainstream audience may
not understand the storyline, leading to them not enjoying our film.
Additionally, they may understand it but they may not be interested in it.
We think the audience we are attracting would like TV programs such as
Skins and My Mad Fat Diary.
• Interested in makeup, this is because the character LÉA is wearing a full face of
doll like makeup due to her stay in the asylum and therefore people that
are interested in makeup may relate to it.
• Involved in recreational drug use, since people of our target audience are
coming of age and therefore may like to experiment.
• Intelligent as the storyline is not generic, and quite hard to follow.
• Group of friends, due to our target audience being teenagers, as well as LÉA
being a teenager, which creates a sense of relatability.
•
Male audience
• Hormonal guys, going through a range of emotions, instead of guys that
enjoy football and are usually tough. Our audience could be depressed
or sad, this is because the thriller opening is quite emotional and has
depth and therefore needs audience that understand it deeply.
• Likes violence, video games and girls, due to the opening having an all
female cast, also most teenage boys going through puberty that we
target our film to have these things on their mind all the time.
• Intelligent because they need to understand the concept of the opening,
just like the female audience.
• May sexualise girls, due to the revealing clothing in the film – LÉA is
wearing a blue dress that is low cut and fishnets.
