Research Objective
Research is an organized investigation of a problem in which there is an attempt to gain solution to a problem.
To get right solution of a right problem, clearly defined objectives are very important.
Clearly defined objectives enlighten the way in which the researcher has to proceed.
What is Research Objective?
A research objective is a clear, concise, declarative statement, which provides direction to investigate the variables.
Generally research objective focus on the ways to measure the variables , such as to identify or describe them.
Sometime objectives are directed towards identifying the relationship or difference between two variables.
Research objective are the results sought by the researcher at the end of the research process, i.e. what the researcher will be able to achieve at the end of the research study.
The objectives of a research project summarize what is to be achieved by the study.
Objective should be closely related to the statement of the problem.
CHARACTERISTICS OF RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
Research objectives is a concrete statement describing what the research is trying to achieve. A well-worded objective will be SMART, i.e Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, & Time-bound.
Research objective should be Relevant, Feasible, Logical, Observable, Unequivocal & Measurable.
Objective is a purpose that can be reasonably achieved within the expected timeframe &with the available resources.
The objective or research project summarizes what is to be achieved by the study.
The research objectives are the specific accomplishment the researchers hopes to achieve by the study
The objective include obtaining answers to research questions or testing the research hypothesis.
Why need Research Objectives?
The formulation of research objectives will help researcher to:
With clearly defined objectives, the researchers can focus on the study.
Avoid the collection of data which are not strictly necessary for understanding & solving problem that he or she has defined.
The formulation of objectives organize the study in clearly defined parts or phases.
Properly formulated, specific objectives will facilitate the development of research methodology & will help to orient the collection, analysis, interpretation, &utilization of data.
Types of Research Objectives
General Objective
General objectives are broad goals to be achieved.
The general objectives of the study state what the researcher expects to achieve by the study in general terms.
General objectives are usually less in number.
Scope of research - Research Methodology - Manu Melwin Joymanumelwin
Technological innovations: Research is conducted to know & adapt new technological innovations, developments in machinery, method, etc. used . For e.g., to know level of use of information technology e.g. Networking, Tally, SAP, etc. in the organization.
Characteristics of Scientific Method
Replicability
Precision
Parsimony
Falsifiability
Replicability
When other people follow the same steps in your research and get the same or identical result.
Precision
Theoretical concepts, which are often hard to measure, must be defined with such precision that others can use those definitions to measure those concepts and test that theory.
Parsimony
When there are many explanations of a phenomenon, researchers must accept the simplest and most logical of them, to prevent explaining with many complex theories. This concept is called Parsimony or “Occam’s Razor”.
Occam’s razor or Ockham’s Razor is a principle from philosophy.
Falsifiability
A theory must always be stated in a way that it can be Disproved.
It must be tested or falsified
Theories that cannot be tested or falsified are not scientific theories and any such knowledge is not scientific knowledge.
Whose concepts are not accurately measurable cannot be tested, and is therefore not scientific.
Others Characteristics of Scientific Method
Verifiability
Objectivity
Generalization
Systematic study

Collaborative, Program-wide Alignment of Assessments and ePortfolios to Build...ePortfolios Australia
During their course of study, medical science students are generally unaware that they are developing professional skills related to graduate capabilities. Interestingly, at a program level the institution finds it difficult to view the development of these capabilities. In this session we will discuss our own learning journey as discipline specific teachers who have worked collaboratively to implement ePortfolios and rubrics across courses and within the medical science degree program at UNSW Australia. Our approach to supporting student learning and development of reflective practice and professional skills in teamwork by cross-discipline alignment of assessment coupled with ePortfolio thinking and doing will be presented.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

4. Research is an area many people try to avoid:
Disinterested Academics: for some of
academic, it is only a means for securing a job
or promotion. Once they get to the height, they
say: “Not again”
Students: research is for some students, a
source of secret anxiety and the day they
graduate, they say: “Not again”
However, it is important to note that research is
not just an imperative, it is a need.

Introduction…/2
This presentation on the
significance of research
points to the reasons
why a person should
appreciate research and
engage it.
1/28/2021 Dr.C.Thanavathi 5
7. It depends on the type of research, i.e.,
whether it is exploratory research or explanatory
or descriptive research. In other words, the
research depends upon the general goals, the
academic goals, the theoretical goals, and the
pragmatic goals of research.
1/28/2021 Dr.C.Thanavathi 7
8. • Hudson Maxim, “All progress is born of
inquiry. Doubt is often better than
overconfidence, for it leads to inquiry, and
inquiry leads to invention”
• Research encourages scientific and inductive
thinking, besides promoting the development
of logical habits of thinking and organisation.
