The, And Corpus Linguistics Theories And Gender Studies
Based on the CDA and corpus linguistics theories and gender studies, this study conducts an analysis
of how the descriptions and representations of rape incidents and the offenders and victims in the
discourse of rape cases have influence in the determination of rape cases in terms of the court appeal
decision. In particular, this study focuses on the discourse of appeal decisions on rape cases on
processes of education, surveillance, control and discipline of social and sexual gender behaviors in
fifty British appeal court
The analysis reveals that the legal decision on rape cases are greatly affected by the languages used to
depict and represent the appellant by the defense council. Depending on the lexical descriptions of the
characteristics and behaviors of the offenders and victims, the judging cases are broadly categorized
into two spheres: hard criminals and psychologically disturbed . In the cases that are classified as hard
criminals as the description of the offenders were the ones with sexually violent and out of control
tendencies, and strangers to the victims such as violent sexual crime , and danger to female members
of the public , thus, pose a great threat to the public. On the other hand, the cases that are seen as
psychologically disturbed , the appellants in the discourse of the legal writings were described as the
sympathetic portrayal of sexually abusive partners and the ones who are in pain and suffering from
mentally and emotionally

Examples Of Figurative Language In A Sound Of Thunder
Ray Bradbury s story, A Sound of Thunder, comes alive with vivid images and creative figurative
language that creates an atmosphere of exotic and apprehensiveness. In this story, by Ray Bradbury, a
hunter named Eckels pays $10,000 to travel with Time Safari, a time machine company that takes
hunters back to the time of dinosaurs and allows them to hunt ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex. Truly,
Bradbury s figurative language immerses the reader into a rather frightening exotic world where the
unexpected can easily occur.
To convey this glorious mood, Bradbury uses several phrases that seem to ooze with feeling. One
example of figurative language he uses is personification or the attribution of human traits to an object
that is not human. For example, The sign on the wall seemed to quaver. By using the word quaver
which means a shake or tremble in speaking it shows the latent fright and uneasiness. This highlights
the overall uneasiness of Eckels as he is going to go on hunting journey. Another example is, The
Machine howled....The Machine slowed; its scream fell to a murmur. This is a great example of
personification. It really shows how the theme of fright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sound: twitterings, rustlings, murmurs, and sighs. And, then there is silence as the small animals sense
the approach of a monster. Silence. A sound of thunder. The steps of the huge dinosaur shake the earth
as though thunder were rattling. Further, the sounds of the Tyrannosaurus Rex are described as lizard

Examples Of Insider Threat
Insider threat: What is insider threat? What is an insider threat? By definition, an insider threat is a
malicious threat where it attacks organisations that comes from the people within the organisation,
getting information and exit without been caught depending on how they want this attack to be
executed. Example of an Insiders threat is employees, in most cases, who have inside information of
that organisation, give these information to other rival companies with a high price. Another example
of insider threat, is by social engineering. These people from the outside poses as employees and enter

Relationship Between Marcus Aurelius And Fronto
Juan Avila
Professor Anne Haeckl
Seminar 203
11 January 2017
Structured Reflection on Marcus Aurelius life Although Marcus Aurelius had many Second Sophistic
teachers during his youth, it can be noted that his relationship with Marcus Fronto was unique. From
an examination of the epistolary Marcus Aurelius in Love, the expression of appreciation, longing, and
concern between the erastes and the eromenos is evident and of great interest. In comparing the letters
exchanged between Marcus Aurelius and Fronto with Chapter One of Meditations, there is an
observable change in the manner that Marcus Aurelius articulates his thoughts and feelings for Fronto,
showing that his sentiments for his mentor have changed from great admiration to remorse. ... Show

He says, I am thankful...that I have preserved the flower of my youth, and that I did not make proof of
my virility before the proper season, but even deferred the time. The peculiarity of this line lies in the
fact that there was no proper season for having sexual intercourse in ancient Rome. Even so, Marcus
Aurelius shows that he was able to prevent himself from rushing into having intercourse with his wife.
Thus, in refraining from having a sexual relationship with his slaves and delaying his proof of virility,
Marcus Aurelius makes an indirect statement to Fronto that, unlike him, he is able to control himself

Walmart Negative Impact
Negative Impact of Wal Mart When Wal Mart comes to town, the local economic framework is
immediately thrown into turmoil (Wolff Mann). Almost all Wal Mart stores crush nearby communities
and local businesses. Wal Mart stores effect everyone; senior to youngsters, high end stores to low end
stores, and grocery stores to pharmacies. Wal Mart has a major impact on the community s economy
and the overall economy. The stores even have a negative impact on their employee s as well because
they give them bad benefits and low wages. Ethan Wolff Mann states that the low prices made
possible by the massive economies of scale of the giant retailer trample many small and regional
businesses. When Wal Mart comes to town the local businesses have a hard time to make profit due to
Wal Mart cutting prices of items. Whenever, the local business cut price Wal Mart cuts the price to
match it or makes it cheaper which attract consumers. But Wal Mart mainly effect the rural area the
most because there is no store nearby so Wal Mart knows that the community is relying on them for

giving new access like never seen before. By understanding the costs involved, you will be able to
appreciate just how important investing in social networking can be for your business and why despite
the costs, we think you should invest. This list will explain the true cost of social media marketing!

Explain The Key Features Of The Inquisitorial System
The adversary system is the legal system adopted by Australia, Britain, the United States, and New
Zealand. Where two advocates represent their parties positions before an impartial person or group of
people, usually a jury or judge, who attempt to determine the truth of the case.[ Adversarial System
Wikipedia ] The inquisitorial system is the legal system used in most nations in Europe, Africa, Asia,
and South America. A system of trial where the court is actively involved. While the two legal systems
are are different, they also have some of the same features.

In the adversary there are 8 advantages and disadvantages, The adversary system advantages are; the
judge is an independent and impartial party from the executive or legislative. Both parties are allowed
to present their own cases, and are treated as equals ensuring the basic right of individuals, and the
right to equal opportunity s are confirmed. Each party is also allowed to cross examine the other
parties evidence, to confirm the accuracy of the evidence. Accused persons are judged solely on the
evidence presented at the trial. This determines that evidence such as a past conviction, is
inadmissible. This advantage preserves the principle of treating a person as being innocent until
proven guilty. Equally, this protects the civil rights of the individual, as the adversary system is
structured to permit ten guilty men go free rather than convict one innocent man. Another advantage
that the adversary system has is that the accused has the right to be tried by their peers. The doctrine of
precedent ensures people are treated consistently, and justly. The last advantage is that all parties have
the right to appeal to the Appellate court. Consistently there are also eight disadvantages, that match
the advantages. Firstly, the judge is not completely independent as they are appointed by the
Executive. When individuals are left to present their own case the trial becomes slow,

Marriage Private By Stephanie Coontz
For the past, few centuries the concept of marriage has become a matter of church and state. Those
who wish to become a married couple within the United States must get permission from the states by
obtaining a marriage license. According to Taking Marriage Private by Stephanie Coontz for sixteen
centuries marriage was valid based upon the couples wishes. If both the man and women claimed they
had exchanged vows, then the Catholic Church would recognize it as a valid marriage. Today all states
require that a couple obtain a marriage license from the state if they want the marriage to be legal and
valid in the eyes of the state. Taking Marriage Private by Stephanie Coontz discusses the concept of

In the United States Constitution, the Ninth Amendment is often forgotten or not commonly taught.
The ninth amendment is often denoted as Enumeration of Rights. This amendment outlines the human
rights that were not written or protected by the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. Marriage is a right.
Everybody and anybody should have the right to marriage. Putting rules and regulations on marriage
is a clear violation of the United States Constitution and a clear violation of our unalienable rights.
Marriage has only become a way for the government to collect extra tax money and fees. Marriage is
only a business for the government. Instead of marriage being a civil union of a man and a woman. It
is a union between a man, woman, and government. For many gay, bisexual, or lesbian couples
privatizing marriage would allow them to marry who they want freely without any government say.
Therefore, no institution will be able deny marriage to nontraditional marriage couples because of
personal beliefs of government employees or because of state laws. Supporters of marriage
privatization believe it is a very personal thing between two people who want celebrate their life
together. Marriage after all is a celebration of the connection between one another. Anybody should be
able to marry whoever they want without having to worry about what the government would say about
that marriage. Rather if it is right or wrong. The government shouldn t interfere with marriage no

Review 1 Flowers Review
When it comes to online casino gaming and slot machines, NetEnt certainly know a thing or two that s
for sure. Showing that they can think outside of the lines when needed, the 5 star developer has
released flowers, a game that exudes flower power to say the very least. Built upon 5 reels, this game
unloads double symbols and the chance to win big!
Theme and Design
If you really had to summarise the theme of this slot machine in one word it would be adorable . In a
departure from the usual NetEnt offerings, Flowers abandons all things serious to deliver something
goofy and refreshingly basic. To be honest, it is a surprise to see NetEnt head down this route, but
there is no denying that through Flowers that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

budgetary implications. Taking your coins, you are free to spread them on all 30 paylines, should
really wish to maximise your betting efforts.
How to Play Flowers
While its abstract nature is pretty much undeniable, you won t need too much knowledge outside of
the norm to play this game. Sticking to what s simple and for the most part what works, when playing
Flowers you can control the paylines in place by using the button labelled Lines . For reference, you
can also alter the paylines by using the numbers located to both the right and left of the reels. Setting
the wager amount can be done via the green Bet Level buttons, with the coin value altered in a very
similar fashion. All paylines can be immediately wagered upon at the highest coin value via the Max
Bet button, while you can also implement autoplay if you wish. Hardly complex, Flowers is one of
those slot games that is easy to get around.
Flowers Final Verdict
Appearing seemingly out of nowhere and certainly throwing the cat amongst the pigeons, few would
have ever predicted that NetEnt would head down the happy go lucky route with a major slots release.
However, having opted to do so, they have certainly set a brand new benchmark in the

Porter s Generic Strategies Framework
Introduction Porter s generic strategies framework constitutes a major contribution to the development
of the strategic management literature. Generic strategies were first presented in two books by
Professor Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School (Porter, 1980, 1985). Porter (1980, 1985)
suggested that some of the most basic choices faced by companies are essentially the scope of the
markets that the company would serve and how the company would compete in the selected markets.
Competitive strategies focus on ways in which a company can achieve the most advantageous position
that it possibly can in its industry (Pearson, 1999). The profit of a company is essentially the
difference between its revenues and costs. Therefore high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies employ this strategy by focusing on the areas in a market where there is the least amount
of competition (Pearson, 1999). Organisations can make use of the focus strategy by focusing on a
specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This is why the focus
strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003). Therefore, competitive
advantage can be achieved only in the company s target segments by employing the focus strategy.
The company can make use of the cost leadership or differentiation approach with regard to the focus
strategy. In that, a company using the cost focus approach would aim for a cost advantage in its target
segment only. If a company is using the differentiation focus approach, it would aim for differentiation
in its target segment only, and not the overall market. This strategy provides the company the
possibility to charge a premium price for superior quality (differentiation focus) or by offering a low
price product to a small and specialised group of buyers (cost focus). Ferrari and Rolls Royce are
classic examples of niche players in the automobile industry. Both these companies have a niche of
premium products available at a premium price. Moreover, they have a small percentage of the
worldwide market, which is a trait characteristic of niche players. The downside of the focus strategy,
however, is that the niche characteristically is small and may not be significant or large

Residential Life Sets The Tone For Ones College Experience
As the year comes to an end so will many students experience in the residence halls. Residential life
sets the tone for ones college experience and with four different places to live means four different
experiences to have had this year. Name: Mollie Merino Hometown: Denver, Colorado Residence

living in Cate has been really positive, just because it s given me the opportunity to meet so many
people. Which coming from out of state was a really unique and cool opportunity . At the start of the

the cultures are really similar, the buildings themselves are pretty different, obviously Cates a little bit

Voting Age Voting
In the most recent election in 2016 only 59% of Americans voted. Many people today see this as a
major issue; however, a major argument has risen on how to solve this problem. One of the solutions
that have been considered is lowering the voting age to 16 to get younger Americans votes. However
many Americans think that this is crazy to allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote. The clear and only
answer to this contentious question is that 16 and 17 year olds should not be able to vote. As stated
before 16 and 17 year olds should not be allowed to vote because sixteen and seventeen year olds are
not mature enough, their opinions can be easily swayed or changed based on what others think, and
they are not educated enough on politics in order to vote. To begin, Americans under the age of
eighteen should not be allowed to vote because they aren t mature enough. Headcount.org points out
that, Minors, according to current laws are not mature enough to take part in consuming alcohol, [or]
tobacco... is voting any different? (Debanno n.pag.) In other words, if sixteen year olds are not old
enough to handle these substances then they are clearly not mature enough to vote. In the article For
and Against: lowering voting age, it states that, 18 year olds may think that they know everything but

What Are The Similarities Between America And Usa
In a world with numerous countries and adversities, every country has its different appeal. Sometimes
we find ourselves comparing their similarities and differences, like there topography, culture,
language, and so on. In this essay, based on my experiences and research, I am going to compare
Jamaica and U.S. Although both countries are compelling in different ways, they hold more
similarities than we even imagine. Jamaica and U.S are located in two different geographical settings.
The U.S is a country which consists of 50 states covering North America, and surrounded by oceans
on all sides. It s the fourth largest country in the world with a population of approximately 318.9

Second Industrial Revolution Research Paper
The second industrial revolution refers to the time period of 1870s and 1880 s, which profoundly
altered the European life. The major innovations of the second industrial revolution include the
widespread use of steel and electricity in the industries, the perfection of mass production technology,
the rise of technical education in colleges and universities and the growth of a new professional class
in the society (More). It was a period of centralized management and control, which integrated the
means of production, distribution and marketing of goods. The second industrial revolution resulted in

English politics during this period. Industrial revolution emphasized individualism and natural
economic law, supporting the ideas of a planned economy and social cooperation. England paralleled
an incomparable degree of political liberty with economic and social reforms, avoiding the extremes
of the industrial revolution (More). However, political upheaval, wars, fluctuations in imports and
exports resulted in unemployment and widespread distress. Technological improvements mobilized
the factors of production, namely, land, labor and capital. During the First Industrial Revolution, there

Minor Characters In The Film Strictly Ballroom
In the film, Strictly Ballroom, there are many topics that can be explored. The topic/statement that I
will be discussing is: Perhaps the films greatest treasure is its cast of minor and other characters, each
of whom is a gem of observation and performance. With their plastic faces and hired hair and their
deluding sense of self importance, they convey an almost pathetic conviction that all their actions are
for the greater good. Of the minor characters to choose from I have selected Barry Fife, Liz Holt and
Shirley Hastings.
The first character we will be analysing is Barry Fife. This character is a very superficial, self
absorbed as well as overly obsessed with his appearance. During the course of strictly Ballroom we
notice that Barry wears a lot of blue which helps portray his cold, uninvolved emotional state. He
firmly believes that his way is the right way and shows us this by the video he makes which is aptly
titled only way to dance . His arrogance is revealed when he makes a statement saying, Dance any
steps you want, but you won t win. This statement shows us that he believes he holds all the power
and is the dominant figure in the ballroom dancing community. Barry seems to only support
likeminded people and the reason for this is because he fears the idea of ... Show more content on

all about the prospect of winning, and we see this in the way she leaves Scott for Ken because Scott is

practice in the dance community. She wears yellow because she believes that this is her lucky colour,
this shows her cowardliness. The language that Liz uses shows us her innocence and vulnerability.

A Comparative Analysis of Shakespeares Shall I Compare...
A Comparative Analysis of Shakespeares Shall I Compare Thee and Donne s The Flea In shall I
Compare Thee Shakespeare is addressing a woman, although it is not clear who, the most likely
person is his dark lady. Shakespeare addresses this woman directly in a charming way. The poem is
not said to of been set in a particular place but I believe it is more then likely to of have been set in a
garden because the things he compares the woman with are found outside. The poem is about
Shakespeare trying to explain he deep his love is for this woman. Although I would like to believe that
this poem is about platonic love it is my opinion that Shakespeare is trying to ensure a sexual
relationship with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poems second argument is marked with a discourse marker, in this case But . The poems second
argument is why the woman is better then summer, Shakespeare says Sommers lease hath all too short
a date….but thy eternall sommer shall not fade Shakespeare is saying that summer ends and fades, but
you never will. The last two lines of Shall I Compare Thee , So long as men can see, so long lives this,
and this gives life to thee. The first thing I noticed about the final couplet is that they are indented
from the rest of the text; I believe this is to give this final couplet the feel of a conclusion. These two
lines mean that as long as people can read then this woman s beauty will live forever and that in the
poem she can never die. In The Flea the poems first argument is when Donne uses the flea to add
impact and emphasise his point that her losing her virginity is not a big deal. He says it has already
sucked from him and from her and that in this flea their blood is mingled. Donne uses this type of
sexual innuendo a lot in this poem. After Donne says this the woman tries to kill the flea. When this
happens Donne changes the direction he was going with his argument and starts to say that this flea is
a very big deal, that they have been married inside this flea and that if she kills it she will commit not
just one crime but in killing the flea she

The Destruction Of The Second Temple
Essay question: Which is the most significant event for the transformation of Judaism: (a) the
Babylonian Exile; or (b) the destruction of the second temple in 70CE?
Introduction
Judaism as one of the oldest religions in the world has been through various historical changes. Started
with the practice and belief of ancient Israeli people, through the conquering and changing of different
kingdoms and empires, Judaism and Jewish people changed and adapted to maintain their identity,
belief and existence. Judaism that we know nowadays is a result of its historical changes, primarily
from the Babylonian Exile and the second temple periods.

Jewish sacrificial practice was originally offered in the Jerusalem Temple (Sanders 2016). They
sacrificed animals to gain peace and forgiveness, and the animals were distributed among the priest,
the altar and the worshipper after the ritual slaughter (Sanders 2016). The exile disrupted the religious
identity of Jewish people that was closely tied to their native land, the place that was seen as YHWH s
house. The captivity resulted in the abolition of their temple, which led to the changes in their
religious practices as Jewish people could no longer perform their rituals at their sacred homeland.
The focus of Jewish religion was then shifted to studies and prayers. Instead of sacrificing animals,
they promoted the worshipping and the study of the Torah. This was the foundation of the
development of the synagogue. Synagogue was the house of assembly where the Jews could gather,
study and pray. The growth of the synagogues helps to maintain Jewish tradition and religious culture
while they were in the host country (Hammer 2010). Therefore, the synagogue was the central
institution of Judaism after the exile.
In the beginning, Israel was a tribal society that was organised according to the acknowledgement of
the twelve sons of patriarch Jacob (Zvi 2012, p.25). After the exile, tribal groups were replaced by
clans. The tribal society was only credible before the Jews left their motherland. Within the tribal
society, the rights of citizenship were given at birth, which

One idea key idea presented by Dr. Gregg Steinberg s seminar on leadership involves the use of a
success pyramid for defining a personal definition of success and steps to achieve that success (G.

large part due to UCLA coach John Wooden and consists of building blocks that lead to greatness or
success (Fifer, 2006). Dr. Steinberg stated that the pyramid of success or greatness has been used
successfully by numerous head coaches in various athletic fields and has also been adapted to use in

Steinberg involves the use of personality and workplace fit tools to ensure increased efficiency (G.
Steinberg, personal communication, August 13, 2016). Dr. Steinberg spoke about the importance of
the corporate culture and individual supervisory leadership style needing to mesh well. He also
discussed the important of hiring the correct candidate based on personality fit so that resources are
not wasted with low efficiency and high employee turnover. The employee s ability to form good
working relationships with coworkers in the specific workgroup is extremely important, and strong
coworker relationships can at times mediate conflicts that arise between corporate and personal values
(Menguc, Auh, Katsikeas, Yeon Sung, 2016). Turnover rate is particularly important in the nursing
profession in which I am currently employed. The turnover cost for a nurse in the U.S. is estimated to
be at least $20,000, with many areas reporting even higher costs (Duffield, Roche, Homer, Buchan,
Dimitrelis, 2014). As nursing is typically one of the larger budget items for a healthcare system, it is
very important that the right nurses are chosen during the selection process. Evaluating personality
and workplace fit is one way to help reduce the turnover cost and ensure that the right candidate is

This article is about the declination of blacks in the game of baseball. It begins by talking about how
successful blacks were in baseball from 1981 1997. Blacks such as Tony Gwynn, Tim Raines, and
Gary Sheffield were winning National League Batting Titles 16 out of those 17 years. From 1998
2004, only one black player has won the batting title. As a huge baseball fan, I never knew that stat
and find it very interesting. The article also entails that black players had won the National League

impact on the game too. I think that RBI programs across America are gradually starting to help.
Recently, Mark Teixeira of the New York Yankees donated over 1 million dollars to open an RBI

The Green Banana Sparknotes
Donald Batchelder s The Green Banana conveys readers that we create our own center and once
individuals leave that special place we are able to learn more about the special geniuses around us.
When we venture out of that secure and comfortable space, then we gain insight on the world around
us and educates us on new perspectives. Batchelder gains a new perspective on the different cultures
around the world when his car breaks down and needs help. Although, Batchelder puts off his want to
expose his ignorance by wondering what a banana would do to help his car. The way he admits his
ignorance about not understanding why they would use a banana to help him shows that he stays in his
special place and never ventures out of that. Bachelder s ignorance is showing when he expresses his
views on America s higher education . He makes it seem that American s are smarter and better than
the rest of the world, but that changes when he realizes the special potential of the green banana. He is
showing himself as arrogant to prove that most of America would see it as the same way. The green
banana had never been of any use other than as a food item and once he forces himself to go outside of
his special place, he shows the creativity of the various cultures. The village has little to no education
or technological help, they end up having to use other aspects from nature to do that same kind of
work, which is different from Batchelder s norm. This teaches him to not

Lewis didn t show any signs of a reflexive or a social smile during the observation, but his mother said
that he is easily able to giggle in response to external stimuli in various forms (Santrock, 2014). Lewis

be experienced by like he does. This factor comes in the form of his lifestyle with two older siblings,
as described by Santrock on page 179 (Santrock, 2014). Birth order might be a strong predictor of
behavior, contributing to why Lewis s temperament was described as extremely laid back, a quality
that wasn t as prevalent in his other siblings (Santrock, 2014, p. 179). Perhaps because of his naturally
high exposure to social stimuli, Lewis displayed a healthy reaction to the Strange Situation, defined by

Keeping the Company s goal of maximizing shareholder value in mind, the best option based on the
aforementioned calculations is for the Company to increase dividend per share by $1.75. A crucial
source for increases in a business s dividend per share payout is a swing in growth strategy leading to
the business s decision to expend less of its earnings in seeking growth and expansion, thus leaving a
greater segment of profits available to be given to investors in the form of dividends (Maverick,
2015). The uptick in dividend per share gives an investor more bang for their buck as it ultimately
affects the ROI. Further, this is apparent when comparing recalculated ROI. In Table 3: ROI
Comparisons, ROI #1 represents the ROI based on actual dividends per share; ROI #2 represents the
recalculation based on the $1.75 increase.
Table 3: ROI Comparisons
Fiscal Year (FY) ROI #1 ROI #2 % Increase
2012 1.67% 3.42% 205%
2013 1.71% 3.46% 203%
2014 2.24% 3.99% 178%

maximization, while the other options are not as supportive.
Dividend Policies

focus has been maintained on expense control, resulting in higher returns on invested capital and

I believe that industrialization was generally beneficial to the lives of the American people and the
history of the United States. Several of the advantages are outlined in the above paragraph. Overall,
Americans enjoyed a higher standard of living and a longer life span, thanks to the Industrial
Revolution. ...before the eighteenth century there was no mechanism by which long term sustainable
growth could take place. By the mid nineteenth century such growth was an established fact of life:
for the first time rapid population increase was accompanied by sustained growth in income per

In this brief paper, we have discussed two elements of industrialization that positively affected
American lives and two elements of industrialization that negatively affected American lives. One of
these negative elements was the employment of children in the industrial arena. The second negative
aspect was that the roots of our environmentally challenged society stemmed from the Industrial
Revolution.
From a positive stance, American grew and prospered economically, and became a superpower on the
world stage. Laws governing child labor were enacted and in general the population became healthier
and enjoyed a longer life span.

Children Vaccinated Against Common Illnesses
In recent years vaccines have been a major topic of discussion. While some people still think having
your children vaccinated against common illnesses such as chicken pox and the flu is dangerous, I
myself think it is perfectly fine to have your children vaccinated on the schedule recommended by
pediatricians. Some parents choose to have their children vaccinated on a delayed schedule, which I
still find acceptable. However, the parents who choose not to have their children vaccinated at all are a
danger to the public.
Unvaccinated people can cause outbreaks of viruses that have been eradicated. In late 2014 a measles
outbreak occurred when an unvaccinated child who was a carrier of the disease visited Disneyland.
This caused 173 people from seventeen different states to contract the virus that was eradicated from
the United States in 2002. In order for measles to be under control 94 99% of the population must be
vaccinated. With the recent trend of not vaccinating, measles, along with other once eradicated, or
nearly eradicated diseases are making a come back.
Since early 1998 autism and the MMR vaccine, a vaccine that protects the body from measles,
mumps, and rubella viruses, has said to been linked. In an article written by Jeffery S. Gerber and Paul
A. Offit published in Clinical Infectious Diseases, Andrew Wakefield discovered this apparent link.
According to Gerber and Offit:
On 28 February 1998, Andrew Wakefield, a British gastroenterologist, and colleagues

Definition Of Termite Extermination
Wikipedia has millions of articles online based on a broad range of topics, including termite
extermination. Commonly, this web source ranks first in the search engines, but the credibility and
reliability fall short in terms of termite extermination. What are some of the ways that Wikipedia does
not stand up to the test? 5. Relying on a Single Source of Information Everyone will make mistakes,
and it does not matter who they are. Newspapers and scholarly sources will all contain errors that need
to be corrected. The best method of doing this is to call a termite extermination professional. They will
give you accurate information because they understand how to exterminate termites. When you re

Literary Devices In Middlemarch
In Middlemarch, George Eliot utilizes several literary devices to portray her two characters and their
complex relationship that reveals their marriage is dominated by the husband who objectifies his wife
into silence. Throughout the passage, Eliot makes it clear that Rosamond and Tertius Lydgate are in an
uneven relationship, considering Tertius refuses to listen to his wife who seems to only have his best
interest at heart, yet still, he continues to yell at her for thinking she knows what is best for him. With
the help of details, Tertius s critical tone, and imagery, Eliot is able to showcase how complex their
relationship is when it comes to Rosamond giving her opinions and ideas, just to be casted to the side.
In several parts of the passage, Eliot hints that Rosamond loves her husband, however, is constantly
disciplined by Tertius when she speaks up on his actions. With her selection of details, it exemplifies
the complexities of the couple s marriage and how as a newlywed, their life together is only just
beginning, yet already, Rosamond is getting cold feet. This is asserted when it states, the thought in
her mind was that if she had known how Lydgate would behave, she would never have married him
(77 79). Eliot explains how Rosamond is doubting Tertius s love for her, considering the fact he is
always making her feel inferior to him. Certain details such as Rosamond being sensitive and a young
creature who had known nothing but indulgence and whose

Reflective Essay On Stress Management
Stress management course has been very exciting for me because I never thought that these small
stresses about my daily life could change my personality and the way I see this world. I wasn t
expecting that yoga can do any good against stress; Because now I ve done a lot of sessions in last 3
weeks, I can guarantee that I can get rid of stress in next few weeks.
I always wonder how I was unknown to this treasure of art; all those years when I was living in India,
I never tried it, but here, I m making it my daily habit. The word yoga comes from ancient Indian. It
has been a great part of Hinduism which is third most followed and practiced religion in the world.
There are some other religions like Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism which also practice yoga in a certain
way,but it s said that yoga is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a
healthy body. Maybe that s why it has become so popular among all. Everyone is eager to learn and
practice, so do I. Good thing about yoga is that I don t need anyone to help. I can practice it whenever
I want, wherever I want to; there s no limitation to that. Moreover, there is no need for me to do
meditation at a different time if I m doing yoga, because most of yoga s postures itself consist
meditation Even though, it is not easy to do correctly when we begin, but time and understanding
make it easier each time we try it.
It is important to understand that yoga has a broad variety of postures and

  • 3. Examples Of Figurative Language In A Sound Of Thunder Ray Bradbury s story, A Sound of Thunder, comes alive with vivid images and creative figurative language that creates an atmosphere of exotic and apprehensiveness. In this story, by Ray Bradbury, a hunter named Eckels pays $10,000 to travel with Time Safari, a time machine company that takes hunters back to the time of dinosaurs and allows them to hunt ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex. Truly, Bradbury s figurative language immerses the reader into a rather frightening exotic world where the unexpected can easily occur. To convey this glorious mood, Bradbury uses several phrases that seem to ooze with feeling. One example of figurative language he uses is personification or the attribution of human traits to an object that is not human. For example, The sign on the wall seemed to quaver. By using the word quaver which means a shake or tremble in speaking it shows the latent fright and uneasiness. This highlights the overall uneasiness of Eckels as he is going to go on hunting journey. Another example is, The Machine howled....The Machine slowed; its scream fell to a murmur. This is a great example of personification. It really shows how the theme of fright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As it walks, the earth shakes and rumbles. Relationship Between Marcus Aurelius And Fronto Juan Avila Professor Anne Haeckl Seminar 203 11 January 2017 Structured Reflection on Marcus Aurelius life Although Marcus Aurelius had many Second Sophistic teachers during his youth, it can be noted that his relationship with Marcus Fronto was unique. From an examination of the epistolary Marcus Aurelius in Love, the expression of appreciation, longing, and concern between the erastes and the eromenos is evident and of great interest. Even so, Marcus Aurelius shows that he was able to prevent himself from rushing into having intercourse with his wife. Thus, in refraining from having a sexual relationship with his slaves and delaying his proof of virility, Marcus Aurelius makes an indirect statement to Fronto that, unlike him, he is able to control himself and his ... Almost all Wal Mart stores crush nearby communities and local businesses. Wal Mart stores effect everyone; senior to youngsters, high end stores to low end stores, and grocery stores to pharmacies. Wal Mart has a major impact on the community s economy and the overall economy. The stores even have a negative impact on their employee s as well because they give them bad benefits and low wages. Both parties are allowed to present their own cases, and are treated as equals ensuring the basic right of individuals, and the right to equal opportunity s are confirmed. Each party is also allowed to cross examine the other parties evidence, to confirm the accuracy of the evidence. Accused persons are judged solely on the evidence presented at the trial. This determines that evidence such as a past conviction, is inadmissible. This advantage preserves the principle of treating a person as being innocent until proven guilty. Equally, this protects the civil rights of the individual, as the adversary system is structured to permit ten guilty men go free rather than convict one innocent man. Another advantage that the adversary system has is that the accused has the right to be tried by their peers. The doctrine of precedent ensures people are treated consistently, and justly. The last advantage is that all parties have the right to appeal to the Appellate court. Consistently there are also eight disadvantages, that match the advantages. • 16. Porter s Generic Strategies Framework Introduction Porter s generic strategies framework constitutes a major contribution to the development of the strategic management literature. Generic strategies were first presented in two books by Professor Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School (Porter, 1980, 1985). Porter (1980, 1985) suggested that some of the most basic choices faced by companies are essentially the scope of the markets that the company would serve and how the company would compete in the selected markets. Competitive strategies focus on ways in which a company can achieve the most advantageous position that it possibly can in its industry (Pearson, 1999). The profit of a company is essentially the difference between its revenues and costs. Therefore high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Companies employ this strategy by focusing on the areas in a market where there is the least amount of competition (Pearson, 1999). Organisations can make use of the focus strategy by focusing on a specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This is why the focus strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003). Therefore, competitive advantage can be achieved only in the company s target segments by employing the focus strategy. The company can make use of the cost leadership or differentiation approach with regard to the focus strategy. In that, a company using the cost focus approach would aim for a cost advantage in its target segment only. If a company is using the differentiation focus approach, it would aim for differentiation in its target segment only, and not the overall market. This strategy provides the company the possibility to charge a premium price for superior quality (differentiation focus) or by offering a low price product to a small and specialised group of buyers (cost focus). Ferrari and Rolls Royce are classic examples of niche players in the automobile industry. Both these companies have a niche of premium products available at a premium price. Moreover, they have a small percentage of the worldwide market, which is a trait characteristic of niche players. The downside of the focus strategy, however, is that the niche characteristically is small and may not be significant or large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Voting Age Voting In the most recent election in 2016 only 59% of Americans voted. Many people today see this as a major issue; however, a major argument has risen on how to solve this problem. One of the solutions that have been considered is lowering the voting age to 16 to get younger Americans votes. However many Americans think that this is crazy to allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote. The clear and only answer to this contentious question is that 16 and 17 year olds should not be able to vote. As stated before 16 and 17 year olds should not be allowed to vote because sixteen and seventeen year olds are not mature enough, their opinions can be easily swayed or changed based on what others think, and they are not educated enough on politics in order to vote. To begin, Americans under the age of eighteen should not be allowed to vote because they aren t mature enough. Headcount.org points out that, Minors, according to current laws are not mature enough to take part in consuming alcohol, [or] tobacco... is voting any different? (Debanno n.pag.) In other words, if sixteen year olds are not old enough to handle these substances then they are clearly not mature enough to vote. In the article For and Against: lowering voting age, it states that, 18 year olds may think that they know everything but they really do not. (Blacklock n.pag.) The topic/statement that I will be discussing is: Perhaps the films greatest treasure is its cast of minor and other characters, each of whom is a gem of observation and performance. With their plastic faces and hired hair and their deluding sense of self importance, they convey an almost pathetic conviction that all their actions are for the greater good. Of the minor characters to choose from I have selected Barry Fife, Liz Holt and Shirley Hastings. The first character we will be analysing is Barry Fife. This character is a very superficial, self absorbed as well as overly obsessed with his appearance. During the course of strictly Ballroom we notice that Barry wears a lot of blue which helps portray his cold, uninvolved emotional state. He firmly believes that his way is the right way and shows us this by the video he makes which is aptly titled only way to dance . His arrogance is revealed when he makes a statement saying, Dance any steps you want, but you won t win. The last two lines of Shall I Compare Thee , So long as men can see, so long lives this, and this gives life to thee. Jewish sacrificial practice was originally offered in the Jerusalem Temple (Sanders 2016). They sacrificed animals to gain peace and forgiveness, and the animals were distributed among the priest, the altar and the worshipper after the ritual slaughter (Sanders 2016). The exile disrupted the religious identity of Jewish people that was closely tied to their native land, the place that was seen as YHWH s house. The captivity resulted in the abolition of their temple, which led to the changes in their religious practices as Jewish people could no longer perform their rituals at their sacred homeland. The focus of Jewish religion was then shifted to studies and prayers. Instead of sacrificing animals, they promoted the worshipping and the study of the Torah. This was the foundation of the development of the synagogue. Synagogue was the house of assembly where the Jews could gather, study and pray. The turnover cost for a nurse in the U.S. is estimated to be at least $20,000, with many areas reporting even higher costs (Duffield, Roche, Homer, Buchan, Dimitrelis, 2014). As nursing is typically one of the larger budget items for a healthcare system, it is very important that the right nurses are chosen during the selection process. Evaluating personality and workplace fit is one way to help reduce the turnover cost and ensure that the right candidate is chosen for the open ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. African Americans in Baseball Michael Rizzo Murray, Chass (2004). Game Fights Trend of Fewer Blacks. The New York Times This article is about the declination of blacks in the game of baseball. It begins by talking about how successful blacks were in baseball from 1981 1997. Blacks such as Tony Gwynn, Tim Raines, and Gary Sheffield were winning National League Batting Titles 16 out of those 17 years. From 1998 2004, only one black player has won the batting title. As a huge baseball fan, I never knew that stat and find it very interesting. The article also entails that black players had won the National League MVP award quite often from 1949 1970. More recently from 1985 2004, black players had won the MVP 11 times, with Barry Bonds winning 6 of the 11. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This program has produced a number of current Major League Players such as Carl Crawford, Coco Crisp and Wil Nieves. About 190 RBI programs have been started domestically and at military bases around the country. Major League Baseball is also giving Little League Baseball $250,000 a year to expand their leagues to urban programs. They have also constructed a baseball academy in Compton, California to try to duplicate the success baseball has had in influencing Latin American countries to the game. I think that this article, for being almost ten years old, is still pretty accurate and agree with all of its points. There are still not enough blacks in the game of baseball today. There are also not enough black managers in Major League Baseball which could have an impact on the game too. I think that RBI programs across America are gradually starting to help. Recently, Mark Teixeira of the New York Yankees donated over 1 million dollars to open an RBI program in Harlem, New York. This goes to show that white players are even noticing the problem and are trying to do something about it. The League has very few black ambassadors today and can definitely use more to influence young blacks. The most popular players today are either American born or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Green Banana Sparknotes Donald Batchelder s The Green Banana conveys readers that we create our own center and once individuals leave that special place we are able to learn more about the special geniuses around us. When we venture out of that secure and comfortable space, then we gain insight on the world around us and educates us on new perspectives. Batchelder gains a new perspective on the different cultures around the world when his car breaks down and needs help. Although, Batchelder puts off his want to expose his ignorance by wondering what a banana would do to help his car. The way he admits his ignorance about not understanding why they would use a banana to help him shows that he stays in his special place and never ventures out of that. Bachelder s ignorance is showing when he expresses his views on America s higher education . He makes it seem that American s are smarter and better than the rest of the world, but that changes when he realizes the special potential of the green banana. He is showing himself as arrogant to prove that most of America would see it as the same way. The green banana had never been of any use other than as a food item and once he forces himself to go outside of his special place, he shows the creativity of the various cultures. The village has little to no education or technological help, they end up having to use other aspects from nature to do that same kind of work, which is different from Batchelder s norm. The observation was conducted at Dordt College in Room CL 1143 and the infant s parent consented to participate in the live observation. From the instant that Lewis and his mother walked into the classroom, the pair exemplified Santrock s concept of bonding (Santrock, 2014). The front facing carrier sling allowed the infant to benefit from the physical contact of being secured against his mother s chest. Lewis didn t show any signs of a reflexive or a social smile during the observation, but his mother said that he is easily able to giggle in response to external stimuli in various forms (Santrock, 2014). Lewis is exposed to ample stimuli for social development that not all infants his age have the opportunity to be experienced by like he does. This factor comes in the form of his lifestyle with two older siblings, as described by Santrock on page 179 (Santrock, 2014). Birth order might be a strong predictor of behavior, contributing to why Lewis s temperament was described as extremely laid back, a quality that wasn t as prevalent in his other siblings (Santrock, 2014, p. 179). Perhaps because of his naturally high exposure to social stimuli, Lewis displayed a healthy reaction to the Strange Situation, defined by Santrock as, a measure of infant attachment in which the infant experiences a series of introductions, separations, and reunions with the caregiver. When Lewis s mother handed him to a student, thus causing an object permanence discrepancy in which his mother disappeared and he was abruptly exposed to a stranger, Lewis still remained calmly ... A crucial source for increases in a business s dividend per share payout is a swing in growth strategy leading to the business s decision to expend less of its earnings in seeking growth and expansion, thus leaving a greater segment of profits available to be given to investors in the form of dividends (Maverick, 2015). The uptick in dividend per share gives an investor more bang for their buck as it ultimately affects the ROI. Further, this is apparent when comparing recalculated ROI. While some people still think having your children vaccinated against common illnesses such as chicken pox and the flu is dangerous, I myself think it is perfectly fine to have your children vaccinated on the schedule recommended by pediatricians. Some parents choose to have their children vaccinated on a delayed schedule, which I still find acceptable. However, the parents who choose not to have their children vaccinated at all are a danger to the public. Unvaccinated people can cause outbreaks of viruses that have been eradicated. In late 2014 a measles outbreak occurred when an unvaccinated child who was a carrier of the disease visited Disneyland.
