Chapter Two The Health Improvement Issue From the various studies, reports and statistics (many
of which have been referenced and/or quoted in the Introduction) it is clearly evident that there are
a number of different health improvement issues in the town of Middlesbrough. Whilst these health
improvement issues cover such things as alcohol and drug misuse, from the reports, statistics and
studies, it is clear that the key and predominant health related improvement issue in the town of
Middlesbrough, is smoking. The Middlesbrough Health Profile 2012 says that smoking is one of
the main priorities for improvement in this area; approximately 30,000 people smoke in
Middlesbrough (Middlesbrough JSNA, 2012). As a result of this large section of
Middlesbrough s population smoking, it would come as no surprise that a high number of
people are suffering from smoke related illnesses and diseases and worst still, dying of these
related illnesses and diseases prematurely. The high numbers of people suffering smoke related
illnesses and disease will have an adverse impact on the local NHS and other services and in turn,
be a high impact in terms of money, budgets and increasing costs that the local NHS

Analysis Of The Poem The House Of Asterion
The House of Asterion is a marvel. The concepts, writing style, and use of literary devices all pay
tribute to Jorge Borges s skill as a writer. The House of Asterion has many points that prompt an in
depth literary discussion. At first glance at this written work, the reader may see some obvious
themes. The story is basically a different perspective on the Minotaur myth, it explores the extreme
loneliness the main character, Asterion, feels, and it challenges common roles of good against evil.
The different perspective is perhaps the most prominent theme readers see in the story. Additionally,
the very real loneliness and boredom Asterion experiences, and the path he seemingly chooses
towards the end of the story, shows an almost human aspect to an otherwise mindless monster; this
would most certainly also attract a reader s attention. And finally the theme of roles being switched
from traditional places would perhaps catch the attention of a majority of readers. However, there is
one more theme that is quite awe inspiring but rarely considered. That of the labyrinthin The House
of Asterion being the center of the universe, and at its center, the Minotaur. It is said by many that
perhaps Asterion is dreaming. That his world is the labyrinth and he is the center of it. This will be
explored with the examining the literary devices Jorge Borges uses, other written works he has used
this concept in, and his own personal accounts.
The labyrinth is the universe with

Cesar Chavez Nonviolent Resistance Summary
Cesar Chavez argues about the importance of using nonviolent resistance to achieve change in
society. His use of historical allusions, pathos, and logos leave his audience with little doubt as to
the proper course of action. Further on in the article, Chavez adds power to his contentions with
implications. The boycott, Gandhi taught, is the most nearly perfect instrument of nonviolent
change. This implication to Gandhi, a notable and regarded advocate for serene resistance, adds
validity to Chavez contention by suggesting that Gandhi would have concurred with and bolstered
Chavez claims. Chavez increases on his believability by making a historical allusion soon after.
Examine history. Who gets killed in the case of violent revolution?

The Revolution Of Rio De Janeiro
Introduction In 1565, the Portuguese discovered SГЈo SebastiГЈo do Rio de Janeiro, and was
named after St. Sebastian, who was the namesake and patron of the Portuguese Monarch D.
SebastiГЈo. In the late 1600s, the Bandeirantes, fortune hunters, discovered gold and diamonds
nearly Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, the city became more convenient for the Portuguese
exportations. During 1800s, many Portuguese fled to Rio in order to escape Napoleon s
invasion of Portugal. There were hundreds of noblemen who were simply homeless because of
their sudden arrival in the city. Also, during the exile of numerous Portuguese men into the city,
an influx of 145,000 of African slaves arrived in the capital of Rio. By the year of 1840, the rate of
African slavery increased up to 220,000 people. In 1822, Prince Pedro declared the independence
of Brazil, and kept Rio de Janeiroas the country s capital. Early in the 1900s, the centre of the city
was developing; the first tunnel in the capital was built under the mountains of Botafogo and
Copacanaba, and electric streetcars travelled from north to south of the urban. At the same time,
the population of Rio was growing, and the amount of landscapes were getting limited, therefore
the city started to shift from north to south. Between 1960 and 1975, Rio de Janeiro was
removed as the capital of the country for some political reasons, and became one of Rio de Janeiro
s states. Nowadays, Rio de Janeiro is the second most populous city of Brazil, and the

Bob Fosse s 1972 Cabaret
Prior to World War I, German cinema was a thriving industry being seen across Europe and North
America. Various European cultures of the 1920s embraced new ideas and artistic styles called
expressionism that focused on experimental fields of expression and looking into the future. In
Bob Fosse s 1972 musical Cabaret, the flamboyant world of art appears under the intimidating Nazi
era. This film follows the German Expressionismtrend as seen through its avant garde style and
sense of emotion. The editing techniques, featured art, and deeper meaning all testify to the German
Expressionismera.
During the 1920s, German Expressionism emerged because of the number of related artistic
movements beginning in Germany that reached an all time high in Berlin, where nightlife was
booming. These expressive movements impressed the multicultural European culture in fields such
as: architecture, painting, sculpting, and film. A crucial notion in the movement was to portray the
world in an emotionally distorted perspective to evoke different moods and participate in new
philosophies. Physical reality was not a concern during this movement. Popular story plots of the
Expressionist films often involved situations concerning madness, betrayal, and insanity, all which
can be found in Cabaret. This obscure style of filmmaking was brought to America when the Nazis
gained political power and a number of German filmmakers immigrated to Hollywood.

Analysis Of Frank Zappa, John Cage, And Pamela Z
Throughout this course, the composers we studied all had different approached to creating music,
and that is why many of them are well known today. The three most notable composers who
combine unusual elements in their music were Frank Zappa, John Cage, and Pamela Z.
Frank Zappa was an American artist who had no desire to fit into a single style of music, and he had
no interest in creating music for cultural conventions. He created music in the manners he saw fit.
His music has influence from rock, pop, modern classical, and jazz music, but his pieces are far
from fitting into one of those labels. The most notable album Frank Zappa created that was Jazz
From Hell. This album was highly unique because all the pieces on this album were ... Show more

Living Room Music is one his most performed pieces because it was fun for both the players and
the audience. In this piece, the player use common household items as instruments, often times
where house clothes, and are playing on a set designed to look like a living room. The quartet
uses unspecified items that could range from magazines, newspapers, tables, wooden furniture,
large books, the floor, the wall or a door. Within in this piece there are four movements. This piece
is an excellent example of John Cage s interest in non traditional instruments and timbre. John Cage
was willing to push many boundaries in his pieces. Although some individuals may not agree with
John Cage s approach to music, I believe his pieces are a great example of using unusual elements
to create a music that is characteristic to Cage.
Pamela Z is a composer who performs her compositions with her highly developed voice and
computer software. Pamela Z, although trained in classical performance, wanted to find a way to
perform contemporary music. In order to perform contemporary music, Pamela Z bought a delay
unit and began creating loops using her voice. Z was able to think about her voice in the areas of
texture and rhythm, the influence of outside texts, and how she could vary her vocal technique.
One of Pamela Z s most notable pieces that integrates the unusual elements of looping and layer is
Gaijin. Gaijin is the Japanese word for foreigner and this

What Is Sexism
Sexism is a form of discrimination that harms both males and females. Sexism is not only
practiced in culture but it is reinforced in schools through hidden curriculum. In order for the this
issue to be eradicated you need to make people aware that gender discrimination still exist in
todays society. This essay will discuss the issue of sexism. Sexism is a human rights concern as it
violates rights of women by not being treated equally and violates the right to freedom of
expression for men. Gender rolestereotypes are socially constructed by society following the view
of functionalism, conflict theory and symbolic interaction. There are two types of sexism
benevolent sexism and hostile sexism that affects both genders. Sexism impacts negatively on
education in regards to girls, causing girls to feel uncomfortable, unwelcomed and scared and
leads to them dropping out of school. Examples provided discusses some peoples experiences of
being victims of sexism. To address the issue of concern the Department of Education must provide
workshops and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few examples of such incidents I will mention in my essay will include experiences of my
own, family members and friends. The first time I picked up on people being sexist was when I
started to notice how differently my brother and I were treated. For example my brother was
allowed to go out at night, stay over at his friends house, do as he pleases, wake up late and does
not have to answer anybody about what he is doing or where is going. On the other hand I had
to wake up early clean up after my brother make breakfast for him and I, do housework and I was
not allowed to go anyway at night and had to ask for permission before making any decision. I did
everything unquestionably without complain because this is what a girls duty is according to
society. The other reason was because I feared the consequences and appreciated what I

Participants: For my research question, I will have to find a sample out of the population who
had body modifications to be participants of my research. Participants that I wish to seek include
people who voluntarily got a body modification to change their physical appearance. I would like
to sample females and males from ages starting at 18. Although my target population is people who
have body modifications, I want a variety of participants ranging from people with and without
body modifications in order to provide variation in my data.
Procedure and Instruments: In the research I am trying to conduct, I am seeking to study the
relationship between body modifications and bullying. I will be conducting my research by using
both a quantitative and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, a qualitative research is more exploratory and the research has more control in
the research. Qualitative research can be conducted through interviews. It is good to use
qualitative methods in your research, but one can only use a small sample and often it is not
representative. Both methods complement each other in their weaknesses and strengths, so it is
good to use both in a research design. In the inductive approach of looking at my research, I
would use the qualitative method to perform interviews. I would have to pick a subject that has
body modifications and a topic guide to guide my interviews. In my interview, I would ask the
subject about his or her background. I would also ask questions that are related to the topic of
bullying, culture, media, and family. I want to explore other factors that might influence the person
in getting body modifications. Through I would then code the interview and assign a social type to
the interviewee. For the following interviews, I would want to pick a participant that is different

Summary Of The Selfish Gene By Richard Dawkins
In the book, The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins he elaborates on two very important phrases
that he will share throughout the entire book. This book will show how both individual selfishness
and individual altruism are explained by the fundamental law that I am calling gene selfishness. (6)
I am sure we all know the word selfishness pretty well, but to some altruismmay be new. The way I
view it is that if someone is altruistic, than they do things that benefit the good of the group, species,
or simply, anyone but themselves. In this book we learn the difference in natural selection and how
selfishness and altruism effect those things. Dawkins will mainly relate his matter to different types
of animals and explain the biological changes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main idea of the book was somewhat interesting, but science has never been by favorite
subject . But some things did pop out to me. This is a book about someone s theory of how
animals and in way even hums are what they are. This is something that based on my religion
can be debatable but i do fully understand where and why this information is stated. I do agree
that humans should act, in way, similar to animals because i have noticed with just some of my
observations that the growing process of these animals turn out to be marvelous creatures. I also
know that humans are very selfish in many ways and do not always focus on the final result
because they are to occupied focusing on the now and what they want now. If we were more like
the altruistic behavioural species then we would definitely be a much more successful kind. For
example, a long time ago humans became up with the word changing idea of electricity, factories,
etc. then, it was the best thing to ever happen. Things got done people were happy live was
fantastic. Although today this advances are not necessarily helpful as helpful to us. Of course i do
know we would be nothing without them, but we are also suffering very much with global
warming and smog, etc.but way back when we didn t even think about all this. This is a harsh
example but in smaller portions, according to The Selfish Gene, animals would plan this out better
because they look at the good

Great Breeds of Dogs
Papillon
Racial origin
The papillon breed is one of the oldest races, pudenda recognized in works of art from Europe
700 years ago. An example is the painting of Titian Vercelli. Their country of origin is the United
Kingdom, Belgium and France. They were first recognized by the AKC in 1935.
Character and Temperament
The papillons are very affectionate and playful. They like to go out and play in the outdoors and
are stronger and more durable than it looks due to their size and softness. You have to socialize
the dog well and mark them of their place in the family because if not they could possessive
sometimes even jealous. They can be a perfect pet for all the family, plus you can do a great ride
with them because of their small size. But they can live agitated and barking voice where they
cannot because they have a protective instinct indentificar enough.
The quality of this type of
Buenos protects their families; provide alarm when they feel something is wrong, they are very
good at agility activities.
About the breed :

Sustainable Tea at Unilever
op yo To survive and prosper over the long term, learn how to adapt your business model by
making it servant to society and the environment. Not the other way around.
Paul Polman, CEO, Unilever
In 2010 Unilever announced its commitment to a new Sustainable Living Plan , a document that set
wide ranging company wide goals for improving the health and well being of consumers, reducing
environmental impact, and, perhaps most ambitiously, sourcing 100% of agricultural raw materials
sustainably by 2020. Such a goal implied a massive transformation of a supply chain that sourced

India, for example, was a major tea producer and consumer, but the small scale of many of the
farms and the nature of local farming practices made certification a significant challenge. What
should Unilever do in such markets? Should Unilever hold fast to Rainforest Alliance certification
or instead work to implement incremental change through standards better suited for Indian
practices? How could they persuade hundreds of thousands of smallholders to adopt new farming
methods in market s where most tea production and consumption was local and Unilever was far
from the dominant buyer?
op yo The second issue was whether and how Unilever could gain market advantage from its move
to sustainable tea. While the adoption of Rainforest Alliance certification appeared to have led to
market share growth in some Western markets, it was not clear either that this would continue or
that the concept of a sustainability message would resonate with consumers in developing markets
like
Turkey, India, or Russia. How should Unilever market its sustainability efforts in emerging markets?
Beyond these two key issues several other smaller but also potentially important questions also
consumed Unilever s attention. The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan committed the company to

The Debate On Same Sex Marriage
As citizens of the United States, we all have rights protected by our constitution set forth by our
founding fathers; however, the right to marry whichever one we choose has been a hot topic for
endless debate. In recent years, the repealing of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in
California had stirred great deliberation. Marriageequality has been a nation s issue on and off
election agenda. Back in 2013, Supreme Court s decisions on Hollingsworth vs. Perry, also
known as Proposition 8 established oppositions from around the world. As a nation, there should
not be any reasons as to why there is sill no clear declaration of answers for this issue. The small
percentage would argue that there seem to be progress toward same sex marriage,... Show more

God does not allow marriage between people of the same gender. Conservatives tend to align their
decisions of politics with guidance of the Church s views, and that marriage is a union between a
man and a woman. This attitude leads to their opposition of homosexuality. But there is always an
odd one in among others. Our second populated state, Texas, has been known for it conservative
ness, yet it have the sixth largest LGBT population beside California and Atlanta. These few
constituencies will always be the one that astonish and be an outlier in statistical sense. The
Cathedral of Hope situated in Dallas is home to over 30,000 gay/lesbian members as its name gave
away, the Church served to hold events that will hopefully turn people s attitude toward gay
marriage. Lastly, Texas ranked first in the race of having the most number of same sex households
with children, proving that even in the most conservative state will not follow the GOP Platform
effectively .
These new ideologies did not occurred when President Ronald Reagan s was in office. However
after his election, the Republican Party began a new reign of Christian conservatism, and continues
to converse ideologies until now. The conservative is not a proponent of marriage equality. Because
conservatives are strict on laws, they tend to lean toward powers outline in the constitution by our
founding fathers.

The Discovery Of Ancient Egyptian Art
The first time I saw this topic on Unit 2:Egypt, a beautiful quote came to my mind from Pablo
Picasso. He once said that Painting is just another way of keeping a diary , and even though, we
know a little bit about Nebamun, by what I perceived from the paintings or frescoes found in his
tomb is that, Nebamun was a nobleman during the new kingdom. And to understand Ancient
Egyptian art it must be viewed from the point of Ancient Egyptians noblemen. My goal of this
essay is to tell my readers what mean the frescoes in the Tomb of Nebamun and how two of the
frescoes found in the Tomb of Nebamun: hunting birds and Female musicians and dancers
entertaining guests at a meal tell us about Egyptian daily life. To achieve this goal, I have... Show

Before I begin explaining about the frescoes, I would like to explain the technique used in the
paintings found on the Tomb of Nebamun. It is called Fresco and according to Sayre is a
technique used for painting on walls. The wet plaster is applied to a section of a wall that is
small enough to stay wet while the artist works on it. Then the artist mixes pigments or dry color
with limewater and applies the paint to the wet wall. The wet plaster soaks up the wet pigment, so
the painting becomes part of the wall. (Cave Paintings to Picasso 15). Now that we have learned
about the frescoes, it is time to focus our attention on the first section, Thebes is the Greek name for
a city in Ancient Egypt, known as Waset, located about 800 km south of the Mediterranean, on
the east bank of the river Nile. In this place, we can find at least 415 known and unknown tombs
of the Egyptians, and most of them are painted with beautiful frescoes. According to Sporre, the
painted tombs of Thebes provide most of our knowledge of Egyptian painting for the period of
the New Kingdom, which lasted from around 1575 to 1000 B.C.E (39). This, like almost all
Egypt art, compromises funerary art, and it reinforces the concept of religion as a pervasive force
in Egyptian life. For the first time in history, we find in Theban tombs representations of the gods.
The paintings also portray the vivacity and humor of daily life. Theban tombs portray workmen and
peasants differently

debut album, Hybrid Theory, was released in the United States. The record s first single was One

The Second Generation Asian Americans
The United States is known to acquire more opportunities and to allow people around the world to
make a better living for themselves and their family. As many migrated over to the U.S., immigrants
found themselves going through economic hard times. The most dramatic turn of the century was
during the 1920s with the emergence of second generation Asian Americans. Although some Asian
Americans were born in their homeland, coming to the U.S. at the age of six still classified them as
Asian Americans as they were raised within assimilation of America. Second Generation Asian
Americans experienced America more than their parents ever did and that caused a lot of concerns
and tension between them and their parents. The Second Generation Asian Americans experienced
tension between their parents with the emergence of the second generation, the influence of the
American culture, creating their own paths and future, and the racial discrimination while growing
up. The emergence of the second generation bloomed quickly and by 1930, 41% of the Chinese
population in America was naturalized born citizens. The birth of a child in America was
symbolization of an elite status in an Asian Americans family (Lee 177). First generation immigrant
parents feared the worst for their children who were second generation Asian Americans. The
parents of the children feared that their children will grow up learning the American culture and

Mary Todd Lincoln s Life
One cannot say that Mary Todd Lincoln did not suffer great loss in her lifetime. From a young
age, she became familiar with loss when she lost her mother at the age of six (Baker 2002).
Some people looked at her as crazy and thought she should be locked up in a mental hospital like
her son had done to her. If they took the time, though, to read through her great losses and look
from her perspective, maybe they could realize that she was just a mourning daughter, sister,
mother, and wife. Mrs. Lincoln was raised in a wealthy, southern family(Baker 2002). Her family
represented the slaveholding gentry of a new community, although she was uncomfortable with the
southern slaveholding ways (Baker 2002). She lost her mother at the age of... Show more content on

This caused her family to look at her as a traitor, they supported the Confederates and her

the rest of the United States, the Northerners saw her from the South, and easterners saw her as a
uncouth westerner (Norbut 2008). When Willie died in 1862 from typhoid fever, Mrs. Lincoln
didn t get any sympathy from the rest of the United States because every mother out there was
potentially losing their sons (Baker 2002). This caused problems between the married couple
because Lincoln mourned his death more privately in Willie s bedroom as she took it more as a
personal blow, he saw it as a shared grief of the parents and families whose soldier sons and
husbands he had sent off to the war (Baker 2002). Mrs. Lincoln never did anything bland, including
mourning the death of Willie ( Family: Mary Todd Lincoln). She had an eye for fashion, even
during the period in 1862 and 1863 when Mrs. Lincoln was in mourning for her son Willie and
wore only black, she managed to go further into debt for new clothes ( Family: Mary Todd
Lincoln ). Mrs. Lincoln shed her mourning attire a little over a year later, but she did start reaching
out and seeing spiritualist ( Family: Mary Todd Lincoln ). She would invite them to the White
House for sГ©ance circles so the mediums could conduct the call to the dead (Anthony 2014).

Cause And Effect Essay On Smoking
Smoking is a habit of inhaling and exhaling the smoke of tobacco or a drug. Smoking cigarettes is
the inhalation of the smoke of burned tobacco that may occur occasionally or habitually because of
a physical addiction to some chemicals, primarily nicotine. It causes many different diseases such as
acute myeloid leukemia, cataract, cervical cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, pneumonia,
periodontitis, stomach cancer etc. Tabaco like many other drugs contains over 60 known cancer
causing chemicals that affect organs inside your body.
The topic that will be discussed and analysed today are what effects of smoking cigarettes have on
smokers, on other people that live with them, and the effects on unborn children if their mothers are
smoking during their pregnancies. This issue analysis will cover the problem in depth and why
smoking should be illegal and prohibit.
Firstly, the effects of smoking cigarettes have on smokers. Nicotine can enter the human body
through lungs, skin and mucous membrane. It easily absorbed into the blood through the vessels
and spreads out throughout the body. Chemicals that are in the cigarettes reduce receptor s
sensitivity that s why people don t feel the disgusting smoke and taste while or after smoking.
Smokers inhale about 7,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke. Many of these chemicals come from
burning tobacco leaves. Some of these compounds are chemically active and trigger profound and
damaging changes in the body. This is the reason that smoking is linked to diseases such as lung
cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and birth defects. Nicotine is the addictive drug in
tobacco smoke that cause smokers to continue to smoke. Addicted smokers need enough nicotine
over a day to satisfy cravings or control their mood. If they do not get enough nicotine they can be
angry, sad, stressed or just generally moody. Smokers have lots of trouble quitting for this exact

Argument On Virtue In Meno
Virtue In Plato s Meno, Socrates presents two different arguments in his attempt to define virtue.
One of his arguments is presented in 71e 73c, where Socrates argues that virtue has unity to it and
that simply giving examples of virtue will not tell us what virtue itself is. His second argument is
given in 87b 89c, where Socrates presents the idea that virtuemust be a kind of knowledge that
makes other goods such as wealth, health or courage worthwhile. I believe that the stronger
argument here is that virtue must be a kind of knowledge, because without knowledge nothing is
beneficial or good in the world. Without knowledge one is more likely to make mistakes and put
themselves in bad situations. Without knowledge we cannot lead a good,... Show more content on

Socrates first argues that virtue has unity to it and then goes on to argue that virtue is knowledge. I
believe his second argument is in fact stronger because he presents a logical justification of how
virtue is knowledge. Through this argument it becomes obvious that without knowledge nothing is

Using One-Stage Cluster Sampling
In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the
researcher must take several steps in order to gather his or her sample population.
First, the researcher must select various groups or clusters, and then from each cluster, the
researcher begins to choose the individual subjects by either simple random or systematic random
sampling. The researcher can even opt to include the entire cluster and not just a subset from it
depending on the design study they have chosen.
For my particular study, I have chosen to use a simple random control trial, which is pretty
common for the testing of behavioral sciences. I have also chosen to use one stage cluster sample,
this sample includes all of the children with PTSD and severe forms of trauma that were picked
from all the randomly selected clusters in the sample set. I did this to keep my internal validity
high and avoid selection bias, as well as minimizing any other form of bias and threats to internal
validity by equalizing the conditions on all other influences except for the ... Show more content on

Stress-Induced Cardiomyopathy Research Paper
From birth to death, loss is an inevitable part of each person`s lifetime. Most people are loved as
soon they come into this world, but are loved by many more when they go. Nonetheless, in the
journey of life, people will face obstacles that will shape them into different people than they were
yesterday, and most people will find themselves loving another person at one point in time.
However, certain circumstances, such as deathor a breakup, can cause a person to feel like the entire
world is crashing down upon his or her shoulders. Some deaths can be signaled by sickness or
old age, but like anything, some do come unexpectedly. The same trend goes for breakups as well.
Sometimes, a breakup can come as a shock to one person or both people... Show more content on

Sometimes, mourning is the best way for someone to accept the reality of the situation they are
in. Research has shown that if a person goes through a loss of any kind, they will most likely go
through what has been termed as the stages of grief. In some cases, the loss of a loved one could
be seen from a distance, but in other cases, it can leave a person blindsided. After a loss of a loved
one, those affected by it will often find themselves in denial, and wondering why it happened or
what they could`ve done to change the outcome. Then, that feeling of helplessness and confusion
will turn into anger, which can be dangerous to those surrounding the person, as well as the
person`s own emotional health. But after the feelings of rage settle, some people will find
themselves beginning to accept that someone whom they loved has left their lives. This is the
one stage of grief that can linger for a very long time, and some people will never be able to get
out of this stage, which can eventually lead to depression and other emotional issues. But after a
person affected has his or her required amount time to mourn the loss, he or she may finally be able
to completely accept the situation and move on with their individual lives.
Altogether, losses can prompt many physical and emotional problems to those who experience
them. Those who are affected by a loss of a loved one will often experience

Black Power By Stokely Carmichael
Almost fifty years ago members of the Black Panther Party, carrying shotguns and rifles, marched
into the California State Capitol to protest the Mumford Bill, which would soon severely restrict
their right to carry around these weapons. Months before this show de force, which would soon
become one of the most famous historical depictions of the Black Powerera, reporters and
government agents had already began to follow each and every step of Stokely Carmichael,
chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordination Committee. Carmichael, who had popularized
the slogan Black Power in mid June of 1966, polarized the nation. The media, which largely
portrayed him as an irresponsible proponent of violence over his failure to distance himself from...

Recent scholarship has challenged this notion by scrutinizing the high level of racial discrimination
and segregation that existed in the city despite the lack of codified Jim Crow legislation. Hence, an
examination of the patterns that shaped the reactions to Carmichael s visit, especially those of the
local racial etiquette, which might have been compounded by the fact that Nashville is the capital
of Tennessee, will contribute to our understanding of the local framing of the Black liberation
struggle in the later half of the 1960s. Moreover, scholars have shown that the outsider theme has
been a common and popular notion in regulating and reinforcing the racial status quo in Nashville
and in other place around the nation. Hence, an examination of the complex nature of local
opposition to Black Power has the potential to increase our understanding about the exploits of the
resistance to Carmichael s presence in Music City. Contrary to what most of the literature on the
Black Power movement suggests, the radicals criticism cannot be reduced to a contestation and
negation of the legitimacy of prominent civil rights leadership or White society, it also entailed a
condemnation of the power structure and the lack of solidarity within the Black community.

Microsoft s management to make plans to pursue the advanced abilities the Internet has created.
Microsoft s current goal is to achieve acknowledgement in the business arena of advertisement via

A Brief Note On Conflict Management And Negotiation

Option 2: Exploring Negotiations Gender Why are women reluctant to negotiate? In a country
that values self reliance and independence, there appears to be a cultural divide between men and
women when it comes to negotiation and its practice. According to Babcock, Laschever, Gelfand,

Women should have a clear idea of what a win will look like and the point in which they will
stop negotiating or their resistance point. According to Lewicki, Barry, and Saunders, (2011)
good preparation is having a clear goal. For example, a 10 percent salary increase rather than I
want a raise. However, to identify this goal, one must also do research to determine the value of
the item to be negotiated. For example, when asking for a raise, women should research what
salaries others are receiving for similar work by checking the bureau of labor statistic and web sites
like glass door. Once a market value has been determined, women can have a better idea of what is a
realistic and achievable goal and then determine their opening bid and resistance point based on this
information. According to the Kellogg School of Management. (2015), women often start
negotiations with too low of an opening bid. Women s undervaluation of worth perpetuates the
cycle of never quite catching up to what men achieve. This also communicates to the other party
that women believe they deserve less. One way to combat this common pitfall is through strategic
negotiation actions. Strategic Planning Second, women must be strategic in determining if they
will negotiate; what tactics they will utilize in order to achieve a successful outcome; and how they
will handle the various negotiation styles one can encounter in a negotiation and preserve their

Public schools originated in 1647 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony and soon spread across New

every one hundred families. Their mission was to ensure that Puritan children learn to read the
Bible and receive basic information about their Calvinist religion. 1 By 1840, conflict was at a

U.s. Dprk, Nuclear Weapons, And Violation Of Human Rights
Summary This briefing will address the necessities of United Nations to pressure the Democratic
People of the Republic Korea, also known as North Korea, by adding sanction to the country. As
a hegemonic state, the United States is a significant state to play a role as the leader to enforce
DPRK to withdraw itself from the threat of the global security and morality. DPRK had broken
many regulations of the UN treaties on militarization, nuclear activities, and violation of human
rights. Although the US is one the countries that has the most stock of nuclear weapons , it is
aware of its destructiveness and vulnerability more than any country that hold nuclear weapons
today. After continuous negotiations to suspend its conductivity of nuclear activities, DPRK had
repeatedly engaged and disengaged its pursuit for a nuclear reform. Should the U.S. violate
DPRK sovereignty and prioritize world peace and order? As an established great militarily
powerful state, the United States must persuade the UN to keep adding sanctions against the
DPRK. Background Korea as One It is necessary to know the process of how Democratic People
of the Republic of Korea was established and how its brutality and thirst for power became
unmanageable. DPRK was not a demonic state since birth. It was once an empire with both the
North and South, together with a connected peninsula. However, once imperialism and colonialism

The 3rd Tuesdays With Morrie

Title: The Third Tuesday, We Talk About Dependence
Throughout pages 60 to 79 of Tuesdays with Morrie , the story touches upon the topics of trust,
nostalgia (a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past), and affection; topics that require
us to rely on something or someone and teach us the important of dependency.
In the chapter The Second Tuesday , Morrie teaches his class about trust through an activity
where We are to stand, facing away from our classmates, and fall back ward, replying on another
student to catch us (Albom, 60). The moral of this activity is to teach us how and who to trust, as
evident in the following passage. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to
believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that
you can trust them, too even when you re in the dark. Even when you re falling (61). Morrie is

The Purpose of the Federal Reserve System Essay
Over the past few years we have realized the impact that the Federal Government has on our
economy, yet we never knew enough about the subject to understand why. While taking this
Economics course it has brought so many things to our attention, especially since we see inflation,
gas prices, unemployment and interest rates on the rise. It has given us a better understanding of
the effect of the Government on the economy, the stock market, the interest rates, etc. Since the
Federal Government has such a control over our Economy, we decided to tackle the subject of the

One form of direct control can be exercised by adjusting the legal reserve ratio (the proportion of
its deposits that a member bank must hold in its reserve account), and as a result, increasing or
decreasing the amount of new loans that the commercial banks can make. Because loans give
rise to new deposits, the possible money supply is, in this way, expanded or reduced. This policy
tool has not been used too much in recent years. The money supply may also be influenced
through manipulation of the discount rate, which is the rate if interest charged by the Federal
Reserve banks on short term secured loans to member banks. Since these loans are typically
sought to maintain reserves at their required level, an increase in the cost of such loans has an
effect similar to that of increasing the reserve requirement. The classic method of indirect control
is through open market operations, first widely used in the 1920s and now used daily to make
some adjustment to the market. Federal Reserve bank sales or purchases of securities on the open
market tend to reduce or increase the size of commercial bank reserves. When the Federal Reserve
sells securities, the purchasers pay for them with checks drawn on their deposits, thereby reducing
the reserves of the banks on which the checks are drawn. The three instruments of control explained
above have been conceded to be more effective in preventing inflation in times of high economic
activity than in bringing about revival from a

to being constitutional by being under the Tennessee statute. The Court of Appeals affirmed with
regard to Hymon, finding that he had acted accordingly to the Tennessee statute. The Court of
Appeals then reversed and remanded. It reasoned that the killing of a fleeing suspect is seizure

The first theme in the film the The Lion King would have to be manipulation. Although this theme

manipulation would have to be when Scar says I will be king. Stick with me, and you ll never

manipulates the hyenas because he wants them to become his soldiers for him. Another
example of manipulation would have to be when Scar says Now, you wait here. Your father has

due to greed. An example of manipulation is when Scar says But the king is dead. And if it weren

Response Structure
Creating an emergency response plan is very important in any business. There are different plans
for medical, fire, police, and school. The following plans are imperative in any environment. There
are many things that will happen and Incident Command System (ICS) will help to provide the
responders with an effective system that works. But before we go into the structures, an
understanding of an incident command system needs to be addressed.
According to OSHA, n.d., ICS is a standardized on scene incident management concept designed
specifically to allow responders to adopt an integrated organizational structure equal to the
complexity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows hospitals to know how many beds they are going to need. Demobilization is the next
level. In this level, the responders are either sent back to the area they came from, set back in
service after they transport a victim, or they are cancelled all together. The last level is
termination. In this level, the incident commander decides that no further action is required and
everyone is sent back to their units. The next thing we need to look at are the responsibilities of
the incident commander. The first one, according to FEMA, 1999, is to rescue all victims. The
second is making sure the victims are taken out of the situation and moved to a medical facility.
And the third is to make sure the personnel are safe.
Next we will look at fire and rescue. The organization of the incident command is almost the same
as the medical responders. According to Fire and Rescue, 2008, the following are the organizational
areas for fire and rescue: Organization on the incident ground, this gives the Incident Commander a
recognized system from which to work when organizing and using resources at an Incident, Incident
Risk Management, the principal consideration of Incident Commanders is safety of their personnel.
Therefore, prior to deciding upon the tactics an assessment of risk must be performed. The Incident
Commander must identify the hazards, assess the risks, and implement all reasonable control
measures before committing crews into a risk area,

The former ES A Bank is sitting on the corner of Queen St and Collins St in Melbourne CBD
with the main Entrance on Collins Street. The Gothic revival design of the former ES A Bank
was done by architect William Wardell and was modified by the General Manager of the bank, Sir
George Verdon, who also commissioned the project. The contractors were Goss Masson of
Hawthorn. The final cost of the building was over ВЈ77,000 which was about twice the budget. The
construction of the bankbegan in October 1883 and was opened in May 1887. It was combined in
1923 with the Former Melbourne StockExchange, which sits beside it on Collins Street, forming
the famous ANZ Gothic Bank. The ground floor of former ES A Bank building is now functioning

The interior of the bank is far more ornate than the exterior. One of the features of the banking
chamber is the appealing cast iron columns and decorated trusses. The cast iron columns and
scallop brackets are locally made in a Carlton foundry. Each column capitals was designed
differently with wrought copper flowers, foliage or vegetatbles. The cast iron metal trusses were

structural elements and decorations were accomplished in the Gothic idiom.
The ceiling panels are covered with white canvas and hand painted with five coats of oil paint

King Charles II
When we think of a King we have a Royal figure in mind that is chosen or while others are not, to
rule their country, an extravagant non ordinary person. What about the King of England,
Scotland, and Ireland. That was King Charles II, an extra ordinary person that the people loved,
especially the women. Charles the Second was a man of high stature who accomplished good deeds
and was a very merry monarch behind the scenes. Exactly who was Charles II? He was born May
29, 1630. Charles II was the eldest son of King Charles I of England and Queen Henrietta Maria.
Preparations were made for the young prince to be baptized in July. The baptism of a prince is an ...

Louise de Keroualle attempted to persuade Charles to become a Catholic, a suicidal move in
strongly Protestant England; Charles was canny enough to resist, despite his own Catholic
leanings (Jokinen). On his deathbed in 1685, the King begged his brother and successor, James
Do not let poor Nelly starve. James generously paid Nell s debts and gave her an allowance, but
it was not for long. After Nell s death she became something of a legend, as a good natured
charmer, and an ordinary girl from the slums who was probably the only mistress of King
Charles who truly loved him (Abbott). He is known as the Merry Monarch in reference to both
the liveliness and hedonism of his court as well as the relief to return to normality after ten years
of puritan rule (Jokinen). Charles II was definitely a lady s man considering he had no children
with his wife, Catherine. Charles II made changes in England that affected the entire world so to
speak. Charles created a council of five men who were to be his ministers and a liaison with
Parliament (Abbott). They were members of Parliament and the beginning of what would
eventually become the cabinet of parliamentary government that portion of the government that
would perform government functions in the place of the monarch (Abbott). Charles was extremely
tolerant of those who had condemned his father to death (Jokinen). He was also tolerant in religious

The Memoirs of Abbot Guibert of Nogent Essay
The Memoirs of Abbot Guibert of Nogent
When thinking about a medieval monastery the first thing that comes to mind is the origin of the
word monastery which comes from the Greek monos, meaning alone. Monasticism in itself is a
way of life that is devoted to God in seclusion. A large part of monasticism is isolation, not only
from the neighbors but from family. When taking the vows to be a monk one not only completely
devotes ones life to God but all friends, family and earthly possessions are left behind. Taking the
vows of monasticism takes brutal dedication and severe strength. What pushed Guibert of Nogent
into monasticism is that his mother withdrew from the world after his father s death. During that
time he was left alone and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When monasteries first started to appear during the third and fourth centuries it was far more
somber and focused towards the hermit form of life. During the eleventh and twelfth centuries
monasteries became more community focused and more socially drawn. Guibert chose monastic
life because how communal it had been reformed during the Middle Ages. During his run as abbot
Guibert became involved inn all aspects of his community surrounding his monastery. On his
affairs, he says, We see him involved in ecclesiastical affairs, attending courts of the bishop of
Laon and larger councils, and at one time traveling to Langres to see the pope Living in
monastery no longer meant that he would live life alone and without peers. As an abbot he was
able to gain so superiority which Guibert sought. Additionally, he states that he had always wanted
to be an abbot: ...A person well fitted for worldly success with moderately good birth, both my
own heart and some of my associates evilly suggested to me that it would be proper for me to
advance in this world by promotion to some office. He was giving the opportunity to become a
member of the community because of the smaller amount of communal restrictions put on monks.
This was unheard of during the begging of monasticism where there was strict isolation. A hermit
would never even consider traveling or taking part in any community council. Guibert was very
keen on being involved in the community surrounding his

Cosmopolitanism And The Role Of Diversity In American Cinema
Cosmopolitanism or the capacity of belonging everywhere has been defined by a high level of
mutual respect for the rights of others and a generalized tolerance of ethnic, cultural, political and
national differences (Buchanan, 2010, p. 99). Beyond the Kantian, individual definition, some
recent sociological and cultural approaches on the issue suggest that it could be more productive to
study it in a situated context and not as an abstract idea (Glick Schiller and Irving, 2015). Now that
the concept is becoming more relevant to the study of transnational cinemas, it is worth to notice
that this interpretation of filmcosmopolitanism is not necessarily subscribed to the idea of a neutral
cinema, free from local or national perspectives.
In order to analyse the particular case of international film festivals as showcases of diversity in the
Colombian cinema, this paper addresses the ideas of cosmopolitanism as ... Show more content on

For instance, critical cosmopolitanism, seen within the scope of cultural modes of mediation
emphasizes moments of world openness created out of the encounter of the local with the global
(Delantey, 2006, 27). But the ideas of cosmopolitanism may also be related to a colonial gaze upon
the discovery of the other and here the postcolonial theory provides a critical overview that
questions the univocal idea of modernity. This perspective opens up the possibility of understanding
a cosmopolitanism from below or diversality (Mignolo, 2000). Beyond a uniform idea of
globalization studies on cultural media industries in Latin America point out to the idea of
mundialization of culture (Ortiz, 2006) an approach recognize the determinant role of the power
relationships among economy, technology and government structures in the production, consume
and circulation of cultural

Praying For Sheetrock Book Report
There were many things you could have learned from reading the book Praying for Sheetrock that
would be very useful to your lives. Segregation was one of those things because in the book the
white had their own community in the book and African Americans had their own communities in
the wood they both were separated but not equal because the white were in charge of both
communities. Corruptionwas happening all through this book from the sheriffPoppell tipping the
truck on the highway so the poor people could get shoes to it bring down the hero Thurnell
Alston. The violent acts in this book, like Sheriff Hutchinson shoots Flinch in the mouth and
leaving him for dead in jail cell. Many things that happened in this book happened in real life that
we could all learn from, like making sure we re integrated and were equal, were not corrupt, and
not use violence as a way to discipline someone.
In the rural town of McIntosh County, Georgia there were two... Show more content on

One important thing I learned was about segregation and how it could deeply hurt a town and
that if we don t integrated that we will never be equal. I also learned how bad corruption could
affect a town like McIntosh County in a good and bad way. Corruption could be used in a good
way, for example, when the trucks were on the road and sheriff Poppel let the poor people take
what s on the truck because they couldn t afford to buy them. Corruption could also be used in a
bad way, like when they were ticking the northerners to take their money or how it took down the
hero. The violent act of an unarmed black man being shot in the mouth and dragged to jail with
no medical attention was also a concept still happening to this day. We should all take a lesson
from this book and making sure we re integrated and were equal, were not corrupt, and not use
violence as a way of disciplining

The Spiral Road Summary
The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the
People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just
another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the
people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a
series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the
PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both
of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book
with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is
slowly opening up to the rest of the world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to
the peasantry, who feed the development of Chinafrom bottom up. However, Huang s adaptation
of Secretary Ye s voice skews his work towards subjectivity or bias that... Show more content on

The repeated problem reading this book was a desire to know more, which sometimes was
fulfilled in later chapters. However, the question of validation was another. Ye just was not
enough. His own behavior and practices of traditional storytelling and keeping alive the family
value suggested that the purge of traditions in countryside did not leave a significant result as
wanted by the nationalist government. However, in the midst of the book foreseeing the Cultural
Revolution is overshadowed by Ye s tone describing his earlier political activism after end of
Shaoqi s rule, where his military aims transformed to a menial local post in his home village as a
result of the Four Cleanup movement. Again, Ye s self serving bias in the context of the reforms
from the Four Cleanups to the Cultural Revolution withhold the power of historical experiences of

Chapter Two The Health Improvement Issue From the various studies, reports and statistics (many of which have been referenced and/or quoted in the Introduction) it is clearly evident that there are a number of different health improvement issues in the town of Middlesbrough. Whilst these health improvement issues cover such things as alcohol and drug misuse, from the reports, statistics and studies, it is clear that the key and predominant health related improvement issue in the town of Middlesbrough, is smoking. The Middlesbrough Health Profile 2012 says that smoking is one of the main priorities for improvement in this area; approximately 30,000 people smoke in Middlesbrough (Middlesbrough JSNA, 2012). As a result of this large section of Middlesbrough s population smoking, it would come as no surprise that a high number of people are suffering from smoke related illnesses and diseases and worst still, dying of these related illnesses and diseases prematurely. The high numbers of people suffering smoke related illnesses and disease will have an adverse impact on the local NHS and other services and in turn, be a high impact in terms of money, budgets and increasing costs that the local NHS

  • 5. Analysis Of The Poem The House Of Asterion The House of Asterion is a marvel. The concepts, writing style, and use of literary devices all pay tribute to Jorge Borges s skill as a writer. The House of Asterion has many points that prompt an in depth literary discussion. At first glance at this written work, the reader may see some obvious themes. The story is basically a different perspective on the Minotaur myth, it explores the extreme loneliness the main character, Asterion, feels, and it challenges common roles of good against evil. The different perspective is perhaps the most prominent theme readers see in the story. Additionally, the very real loneliness and boredom Asterion experiences, and the path he seemingly chooses towards the end of the story, shows an almost human aspect to an otherwise mindless monster; this would most certainly also attract a reader s attention. And finally the theme of roles being switched from traditional places would perhaps catch the attention of a majority of readers. However, there is one more theme that is quite awe inspiring but rarely considered. That of the labyrinthin The House of Asterion being the center of the universe, and at its center, the Minotaur. It is said by many that perhaps Asterion is dreaming. That his world is the labyrinth and he is the center of it. This will be explored with the examining the literary devices Jorge Borges uses, other written works he has used this concept in, and his own personal accounts. The labyrinth is the universe with ... His use of historical allusions, pathos, and logos leave his audience with little doubt as to the proper course of action. Further on in the article, Chavez adds power to his contentions with implications. The boycott, Gandhi taught, is the most nearly perfect instrument of nonviolent change. This implication to Gandhi, a notable and regarded advocate for serene resistance, adds validity to Chavez contention by suggesting that Gandhi would have concurred with and bolstered Chavez claims. Chavez increases on his believability by making a historical allusion soon after. Examine history. Who gets killed in the case of violent revolution? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Revolution Of Rio De Janeiro Introduction In 1565, the Portuguese discovered SГЈo SebastiГЈo do Rio de Janeiro, and was named after St. Sebastian, who was the namesake and patron of the Portuguese Monarch D. SebastiГЈo. In the late 1600s, the Bandeirantes, fortune hunters, discovered gold and diamonds nearly Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, the city became more convenient for the Portuguese exportations. During 1800s, many Portuguese fled to Rio in order to escape Napoleon s invasion of Portugal. There were hundreds of noblemen who were simply homeless because of their sudden arrival in the city. Also, during the exile of numerous Portuguese men into the city, an influx of 145,000 of African slaves arrived in the capital of Rio. By the year of 1840, the rate of African slavery increased up to 220,000 people. In 1822, Prince Pedro declared the independence of Brazil, and kept Rio de Janeiroas the country s capital. Early in the 1900s, the centre of the city was developing; the first tunnel in the capital was built under the mountains of Botafogo and Copacanaba, and electric streetcars travelled from north to south of the urban. At the same time, the population of Rio was growing, and the amount of landscapes were getting limited, therefore the city started to shift from north to south. Between 1960 and 1975, Rio de Janeiro was removed as the capital of the country for some political reasons, and became one of Rio de Janeiro s states. • 8. Bob Fosse s 1972 Cabaret Prior to World War I, German cinema was a thriving industry being seen across Europe and North America. Various European cultures of the 1920s embraced new ideas and artistic styles called expressionism that focused on experimental fields of expression and looking into the future. In Bob Fosse s 1972 musical Cabaret, the flamboyant world of art appears under the intimidating Nazi era. This film follows the German Expressionismtrend as seen through its avant garde style and sense of emotion. The editing techniques, featured art, and deeper meaning all testify to the German Expressionismera. During the 1920s, German Expressionism emerged because of the number of related artistic movements beginning in Germany that reached an all time high in Berlin, where nightlife was booming. These expressive movements impressed the multicultural European culture in fields such as: architecture, painting, sculpting, and film. A crucial notion in the movement was to portray the world in an emotionally distorted perspective to evoke different moods and participate in new philosophies. Physical reality was not a concern during this movement. Popular story plots of the Expressionist films often involved situations concerning madness, betrayal, and insanity, all which can be found in Cabaret. This obscure style of filmmaking was brought to America when the Nazis gained political power and a number of German filmmakers immigrated to Hollywood. • 9. Analysis Of Frank Zappa, John Cage, And Pamela Z Throughout this course, the composers we studied all had different approached to creating music, and that is why many of them are well known today. The three most notable composers who combine unusual elements in their music were Frank Zappa, John Cage, and Pamela Z. Frank Zappa was an American artist who had no desire to fit into a single style of music, and he had no interest in creating music for cultural conventions. He created music in the manners he saw fit. His music has influence from rock, pop, modern classical, and jazz music, but his pieces are far from fitting into one of those labels. The most notable album Frank Zappa created that was Jazz From Hell. This album was highly unique because all the pieces on this album were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quartet uses unspecified items that could range from magazines, newspapers, tables, wooden furniture, large books, the floor, the wall or a door. Within in this piece there are four movements. This piece is an excellent example of John Cage s interest in non traditional instruments and timbre. John Cage was willing to push many boundaries in his pieces. Although some individuals may not agree with John Cage s approach to music, I believe his pieces are a great example of using unusual elements to create a music that is characteristic to Cage. Pamela Z is a composer who performs her compositions with her highly developed voice and computer software. Pamela Z, although trained in classical performance, wanted to find a way to perform contemporary music. In order to perform contemporary music, Pamela Z bought a delay unit and began creating loops using her voice. Z was able to think about her voice in the areas of texture and rhythm, the influence of outside texts, and how she could vary her vocal technique. This book will show how both individual selfishness and individual altruism are explained by the fundamental law that I am calling gene selfishness. (6) I am sure we all know the word selfishness pretty well, but to some altruismmay be new. The way I view it is that if someone is altruistic, than they do things that benefit the good of the group, species, or simply, anyone but themselves. I do agree that humans should act, in way, similar to animals because i have noticed with just some of my observations that the growing process of these animals turn out to be marvelous creatures. I also know that humans are very selfish in many ways and do not always focus on the final result because they are to occupied focusing on the now and what they want now. If we were more like the altruistic behavioural species then we would definitely be a much more successful kind. For example, a long time ago humans became up with the word changing idea of electricity, factories, etc. then, it was the best thing to ever happen. How could they persuade hundreds of thousands of smallholders to adopt new farming methods in market s where most tea production and consumption was local and Unilever was far from the dominant buyer? op yo The second issue was whether and how Unilever could gain market advantage from its move to sustainable tea. While the adoption of Rainforest Alliance certification appeared to have led to market share growth in some Western markets, it was not clear either that this would continue or that the concept of a sustainability message would resonate with consumers in developing markets like Turkey, India, or Russia. The Debate On Same Sex Marriage As citizens of the United States, we all have rights protected by our constitution set forth by our founding fathers; however, the right to marry whichever one we choose has been a hot topic for endless debate. In recent years, the repealing of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in California had stirred great deliberation. Marriageequality has been a nation s issue on and off election agenda. Back in 2013, Supreme Court s decisions on Hollingsworth vs. Perry, also known as Proposition 8 established oppositions from around the world. As a nation, there should not be any reasons as to why there is sill no clear declaration of answers for this issue. Conservatives tend to align their decisions of politics with guidance of the Church s views, and that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. This attitude leads to their opposition of homosexuality. But there is always an odd one in among others. Our second populated state, Texas, has been known for it conservative ness, yet it have the sixth largest LGBT population beside California and Atlanta. These few constituencies will always be the one that astonish and be an outlier in statistical sense. The Cathedral of Hope situated in Dallas is home to over 30,000 gay/lesbian members as its name gave away, the Church served to hold events that will hopefully turn people s attitude toward gay marriage. • 16. The Discovery Of Ancient Egyptian Art The first time I saw this topic on Unit 2:Egypt, a beautiful quote came to my mind from Pablo Picasso. He once said that Painting is just another way of keeping a diary , and even though, we know a little bit about Nebamun, by what I perceived from the paintings or frescoes found in his tomb is that, Nebamun was a nobleman during the new kingdom. And to understand Ancient Egyptian art it must be viewed from the point of Ancient Egyptians noblemen. My goal of this essay is to tell my readers what mean the frescoes in the Tomb of Nebamun and how two of the frescoes found in the Tomb of Nebamun: hunting birds and Female musicians and dancers entertaining guests at a meal tell us about Egyptian daily life. To achieve this goal, I have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before I begin explaining about the frescoes, I would like to explain the technique used in the paintings found on the Tomb of Nebamun. It is called Fresco and according to Sayre is a technique used for painting on walls. The wet plaster is applied to a section of a wall that is small enough to stay wet while the artist works on it. Then the artist mixes pigments or dry color with limewater and applies the paint to the wet wall. The wet plaster soaks up the wet pigment, so the painting becomes part of the wall. (Cave Paintings to Picasso 15). Now that we have learned about the frescoes, it is time to focus our attention on the first section, Thebes is the Greek name for a city in Ancient Egypt, known as Waset, located about 800 km south of the Mediterranean, on the east bank of the river Nile. In this place, we can find at least 415 known and unknown tombs of the Egyptians, and most of them are painted with beautiful frescoes. According to Sporre, the painted tombs of Thebes provide most of our knowledge of Egyptian painting for the period of the New Kingdom, which lasted from around 1575 to 1000 B.C.E (39). This, like almost all Egypt art, compromises funerary art, and it reinforces the concept of religion as a pervasive force in Egyptian life. As many migrated over to the U.S., immigrants found themselves going through economic hard times. The most dramatic turn of the century was during the 1920s with the emergence of second generation Asian Americans. Although some Asian Americans were born in their homeland, coming to the U.S. at the age of six still classified them as Asian Americans as they were raised within assimilation of America. Second Generation Asian Americans experienced America more than their parents ever did and that caused a lot of concerns and tension between them and their parents. The Second Generation Asian Americans experienced tension between their parents with the emergence of the second generation, the influence of the American culture, creating their own paths and future, and the racial discrimination while growing up. The emergence of the second generation bloomed quickly and by 1930, 41% of the Chinese population in America was naturalized born citizens. The birth of a child in America was symbolization of an elite status in an Asian Americans family (Lee 177). • 19. Mary Todd Lincoln s Life One cannot say that Mary Todd Lincoln did not suffer great loss in her lifetime. From a young age, she became familiar with loss when she lost her mother at the age of six (Baker 2002). Some people looked at her as crazy and thought she should be locked up in a mental hospital like her son had done to her. If they took the time, though, to read through her great losses and look from her perspective, maybe they could realize that she was just a mourning daughter, sister, mother, and wife. Mrs. Lincoln was raised in a wealthy, southern family(Baker 2002). Her family represented the slaveholding gentry of a new community, although she was uncomfortable with the southern slaveholding ways (Baker 2002). She lost her mother at the age of... When Willie died in 1862 from typhoid fever, Mrs. Lincoln didn t get any sympathy from the rest of the United States because every mother out there was potentially losing their sons (Baker 2002). This caused problems between the married couple because Lincoln mourned his death more privately in Willie s bedroom as she took it more as a personal blow, he saw it as a shared grief of the parents and families whose soldier sons and husbands he had sent off to the war (Baker 2002). Mrs. Lincoln never did anything bland, including mourning the death of Willie ( Family: Mary Todd Lincoln). She had an eye for fashion, even during the period in 1862 and 1863 when Mrs. Lincoln was in mourning for her son Willie and wore only black, she managed to go further into debt for new clothes ( Family: Mary Todd Lincoln ). Smoking cigarettes is the inhalation of the smoke of burned tobacco that may occur occasionally or habitually because of a physical addiction to some chemicals, primarily nicotine. It causes many different diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia, cataract, cervical cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, pneumonia, periodontitis, stomach cancer etc. Tabaco like many other drugs contains over 60 known cancer causing chemicals that affect organs inside your body. The topic that will be discussed and analysed today are what effects of smoking cigarettes have on smokers, on other people that live with them, and the effects on unborn children if their mothers are smoking during their pregnancies. This issue analysis will cover the problem in depth and why smoking should be illegal and prohibit. Firstly, the effects of smoking cigarettes have on smokers. Nicotine can enter the human body through lungs, skin and mucous membrane. It easily absorbed into the blood through the vessels and spreads out throughout the body. Chemicals that are in the cigarettes reduce receptor s sensitivity that s why people don t feel the disgusting smoke and taste while or after smoking. Smokers inhale about 7,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke. Many of these chemicals come from burning tobacco leaves. Some of these compounds are chemically active and trigger profound and damaging changes in the body. This is the reason that smoking is linked to diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and birth defects. Nicotine is the addictive drug in tobacco smoke that cause smokers to continue to smoke. Addicted smokers need enough nicotine over a day to satisfy cravings or control their mood. If they do not get enough nicotine they can be angry, sad, stressed or just generally moody. Smokers have lots of trouble quitting for this exact reason. Secondly, the effect on people that live with or are around smokers. People that live with or breath around smokers can be described as second hand smokers. Second hand smoke is the smoke that comes out of the lit end of a cigarette and that a smoker exhales. Second hand smoke is also called passive smoke, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of his arguments is presented in 71e 73c, where Socrates argues that virtue has unity to it and that simply giving examples of virtue will not tell us what virtue itself is. His second argument is given in 87b 89c, where Socrates presents the idea that virtuemust be a kind of knowledge that makes other goods such as wealth, health or courage worthwhile. Using One-Stage Cluster Sampling In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the researcher must take several steps in order to gather his or her sample population. First, the researcher must select various groups or clusters, and then from each cluster, the researcher begins to choose the individual subjects by either simple random or systematic random sampling. The researcher can even opt to include the entire cluster and not just a subset from it depending on the design study they have chosen. For my particular study, I have chosen to use a simple random control trial, which is pretty common for the testing of behavioral sciences. I have also chosen to use one stage cluster sample, this sample includes all of the children with PTSD and severe forms of trauma that were picked from all the randomly selected clusters in the sample set. Sometimes, mourning is the best way for someone to accept the reality of the situation they are in. Research has shown that if a person goes through a loss of any kind, they will most likely go through what has been termed as the stages of grief. In some cases, the loss of a loved one could be seen from a distance, but in other cases, it can leave a person blindsided. After a loss of a loved one, those affected by it will often find themselves in denial, and wondering why it happened or what they could`ve done to change the outcome. Then, that feeling of helplessness and confusion will turn into anger, which can be dangerous to those surrounding the person, as well as the person`s own emotional health. But after the feelings of rage settle, some people will find themselves beginning to accept that someone whom they loved has left their lives. This is the one stage of grief that can linger for a very long time, and some people will never be able to get out of this stage, which can eventually lead to depression and other emotional issues. But after a person affected has his or her required amount time to mourn the loss, he or she may finally be able to completely accept the situation and move on with their individual lives. Recent scholarship has challenged this notion by scrutinizing the high level of racial discrimination and segregation that existed in the city despite the lack of codified Jim Crow legislation. Hence, an examination of the patterns that shaped the reactions to Carmichael s visit, especially those of the local racial etiquette, which might have been compounded by the fact that Nashville is the capital of Tennessee, will contribute to our understanding of the local framing of the Black liberation struggle in the later half of the 1960s. Moreover, scholars have shown that the outsider theme has been a common and popular notion in regulating and reinforcing the racial status quo in Nashville and in other place around the nation. Hence, an examination of the complex nature of local opposition to Black Power has the potential to increase our understanding about the exploits of the resistance to Carmichael s presence in Music City. Women should have a clear idea of what a win will look like and the point in which they will stop negotiating or their resistance point. According to Lewicki, Barry, and Saunders, (2011) good preparation is having a clear goal. For example, a 10 percent salary increase rather than I want a raise. However, to identify this goal, one must also do research to determine the value of the item to be negotiated. For example, when asking for a raise, women should research what salaries others are receiving for similar work by checking the bureau of labor statistic and web sites like glass door. Once a market value has been determined, women can have a better idea of what is a realistic and achievable goal and then determine their opening bid and resistance point based on this information. According to the Kellogg School of Management. (2015), women often start negotiations with too low of an opening bid. Women s undervaluation of worth perpetuates the cycle of never quite catching up to what men achieve. This also communicates to the other party that women believe they deserve less. One way to combat this common pitfall is through strategic negotiation actions. One form of direct control can be exercised by adjusting the legal reserve ratio (the proportion of its deposits that a member bank must hold in its reserve account), and as a result, increasing or decreasing the amount of new loans that the commercial banks can make. Because loans give rise to new deposits, the possible money supply is, in this way, expanded or reduced. This policy tool has not been used too much in recent years. The money supply may also be influenced through manipulation of the discount rate, which is the rate if interest charged by the Federal Reserve banks on short term secured loans to member banks. Since these loans are typically sought to maintain reserves at their required level, an increase in the cost of such loans has an effect similar to that of increasing the reserve requirement. The classic method of indirect control is through open market operations, first widely used in the 1920s and now used daily to make some adjustment to the market. Federal Reserve bank sales or purchases of securities on the open market tend to reduce or increase the size of commercial bank reserves. When the Federal Reserve sells securities, the purchasers pay for them with checks drawn on their deposits, thereby reducing the reserves of the banks on which the checks are drawn. • 37. The Lion King ( Film ) The Lion King (FILM) This Disney animated film follows the adventures of the young lion Simba, the heir of his father, Mufasa. Simba s wicked uncle, Scar plots to usurp Mufasa s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa. The first theme in the film the The Lion King would have to be manipulation. Although this theme may just be linked to Scar, I will mention it because he is a main character. A second example of manipulation would have to be when Scar says I will be king. Stick with me, and you ll never go hungry again! This quote is clear evidence that manipulation is a key theme because Scar constantly manipulates a lot of people. This quote also shows us that Scar manipulates the hyenas because he says you ll never go hungry , when in actual fact they do. Scar just manipulates the hyenas because he wants them to become his soldiers for him. Another example of manipulation would have to be when Scar says Now, you wait here. Your father has a marvelous surprise for you. This quote shows that Scar manipulates Simba because he wants to become king of Pride rock. These quotes also show that the purpose of Scar s manipulation is due to greed. An example of manipulation is when Scar says But the king is dead. And if it weren t for you, he d still be alive . This shows that Scar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are different plans for medical, fire, police, and school. The following plans are imperative in any environment. There are many things that will happen and Incident Command System (ICS) will help to provide the responders with an effective system that works. In this level, the incident commander decides that no further action is required and everyone is sent back to their units. The next thing we need to look at are the responsibilities of the incident commander. The first one, according to FEMA, 1999, is to rescue all victims. The second is making sure the victims are taken out of the situation and moved to a medical facility. And the third is to make sure the personnel are safe. Next we will look at fire and rescue. The organization of the incident command is almost the same as the medical responders. The Memoirs of Abbot Guibert of Nogent Essay The Memoirs of Abbot Guibert of Nogent When thinking about a medieval monastery the first thing that comes to mind is the origin of the word monastery which comes from the Greek monos, meaning alone. When taking the vows to be a monk one not only completely devotes ones life to God but all friends, family and earthly possessions are left behind. • 44. Cosmopolitanism And The Role Of Diversity In American Cinema Cosmopolitanism or the capacity of belonging everywhere has been defined by a high level of mutual respect for the rights of others and a generalized tolerance of ethnic, cultural, political and national differences (Buchanan, 2010, p. 99). Beyond the Kantian, individual definition, some recent sociological and cultural approaches on the issue suggest that it could be more productive to study it in a situated context and not as an abstract idea (Glick Schiller and Irving, 2015). Now that the concept is becoming more relevant to the study of transnational cinemas, it is worth to notice that this interpretation of filmcosmopolitanism is not necessarily subscribed to the idea of a neutral cinema, free from local or national perspectives. This perspective opens up the possibility of understanding a cosmopolitanism from below or diversality (Mignolo, 2000). • 47. The Spiral Road Summary The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is slowly opening up to the rest of the world.
