The Importance of Language and Culture
The importance of language is a repeated trend throughout history. The lack of language weighs
negatively on an individual s intellect and the acquisition of language feeds the development of one s
cultural identity. The greatest historical conquest began in the realm of linguistic turmoil. Examples of
this are vast in the capturing of American Americans slaves, and injustice towards the Native
Americans on the home front. The captured people were taken from a variety of tribes speaking
different native tongues to insure communication barriers resulting in the slaves not being able to
overtake the ship or rally an uprising. The linguistic and cultural differences lead to the manipulation
of the semantics of agreements, which lead to many Native Americans to lose their land. The British
taken continentally instilled linguistic control over people from India to Southern Africa. British
forcefully mandated the educational system be taught in English therefore ultimately taking over the
languacultural acquisition of the continent of India s future. The pedagogy of language is connected to
perpetuation of culture, traditions, and social norms. The Deaf community is another example of the
importance of language acquisition throughout history. The impact of how a deaf child is educated
impacts more than that deaf child alone but also the future of the Deaf community and the
languaculture rich in American Sign Language. Classrooms mediate unique and diverse

Statement of Cash Flows Essay
Statement of Cash Flows
STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS 1
The Statement of Cash Flows is a very viable and helpful resource. Decision makers use the Statement
of Cash Flows in many instances to assess the viability of a firm. Within the statement are many types
of elements that are incorporated to create the complete Statement of Cash Flows. Also within the
statement is what is known as the inflows and outflows. In some cases, activity notes may be
incorporated to help complete such representations. To fully understand the Statement of Cash Flows
one must know the definition of it and what it in fact means. The Statement of Cash Flows is a change
statement summarizing the transactions that caused cash to change ... Show more content on

The cash flow statement has three components of cash flow which includes how cash enters and
leaves a company such as operating, investing and financing as mentioned above.
The Statement of Cash flows includes measuring the cash inflows and outflows caused by operations.
Cash inflows include cash received from: * Owners when sales are sold to them * Creditors when cash
is borrowed through notes, loans, mortgages, and bonds
Whereas cash outflows includes cash paid to: * Owners in the form of dividends or distributions
STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS 3 * Owners for the reacquisition of shares previously sold *
Creditors as repayment of the principal amounts of debt (excluding trade payables that relate to
operating activities)
The operations component of cash flow reflects how much cash is generated from a company s
products or services. Generally, changes made in cash, accounts receivable, depreciation, inventory
and accounts payable are reflected in cash from operations.
The cash flow is calculated by making certain adjustments to net income by adding or subtracting
differences in revenue, expenses and credit transactions (appearing on the balance sheet and income
statement) resulting from transactions that occur from one period to the next. These adjustments are
made because non cash items

Essay On Adaptive Filters
Adaptive filters have been successfully applied to diverse fields including communications, speech
recognition, control systems, radar, seismology and biomedical engineering. Among various types of
adaptive algorithms, the least mean square (LMS) algorithm is well known and widely adopted due to
its simplicity and robustness to initial condition and noise. The performance of the LMS algorithm, in
terms of convergence rate, maladjustment, mean square error (MSE), and computational cost, is
governed by the step size. The frequency domain (FD) adaptive filter algorithm is known to be able to
reduce the numerical complexity by using the overlap and save implementation method. It
incorporates block updating strategies where the fast Fourier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A variable step size algorithm is proposed in,by focusing on achieving low residual error specifically
for the acoustic echo cancellation applications and also lacks of convergence analysis. Thus, we are
motivated to develop an FD step size control for LMS algorithm. Our objective is to achieve both fast
convergence and low steady state error, and to provide theoretical analysis on the convergence. A new
bin wise block varying step size for the FD LMS algorithm. The optimal solution of step size at each
iteration is derived by cancelling the a posteriori error in each frequency bin, and its estimate is
connected to the magnitude squared coherence (MSC) function. This Performs better than the existing
FD algorithm in terms of both convergence rate and mean square deviation (MSD). Furthermore,
compared to the TD algorithm, the proposed method converges faster in the presence highly of
correlated filter input. 5.1.1 frequency Domain Variable Step Size LMS The derivation of the

The Chef With Jon Favreau
Top Dog and Underdog
Do you think you are having a hard month? Have you ever felt like the underdog and you aren t every
going to be on top? Then you should watch the movie The Chef with Jon Favreau. The Chef is a great
film about a Head Chef, who quits his high end restaurant job and buys a food truck to reclaim his
creative promise; while piecing back together his estranged family. It is strongly agreed with LA
Times writer Gary Goldstein whom stated, Warm, dimensional and intuitive, this Carl proves an ideal
combo of top dog and underdog as well as a thoroughly credible kitchen master. The Chef can be
highly recommended for many different reasons. One may say, for the famous A List cast members
like Sofia Vergara and Henry Winkler. Sofia Vergara is one of the main actors of Modern Family.
Henry Winkler is also, a known top actor from the 1970 s sitcom Happy Days. Another reason this
film maybe highly recommended is for its great scene locations. The Chef was filmed in many
different foods from the fancy restaurants to the Farmers Market; where the food is displayed in a way
that enhance four of your five human senses. Maybe The Chef can be recommended for the eye
catching landscapes locations from the streets of New Orlando to the beaches of Florida. However,
one may say the film is an overwhelming delightful watch, because it is Jon Favreau writing and
directing.
The film, Favreau directing and writing was so delightful that subsequently the IMdb.com gave

Christine Castel Biography
Christine took up writing so she could support her family. Her father, Tommaso Di Benvenuto di
Pizzano, was an astrologer to Charles the Fifth, the king at the time. He was respected greatly by
Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they
loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part
of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine
had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight
years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost
his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. Just a few months later, Christine s
husband, Etienne, got the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so devastated she wished she could
just die. The thing was, Christine had to take care of her family or else they would starve to death. She

The first works Christine started to write were poems. Poems make up most of her writing. Usually
those poems were about Christine s long lost love, Etienne, but that was before she realized how badly
women were being treated. Remember, these were the Middle Ages; women weren t even able to work
back then. Women also (usually) had no form of education. Women were even considered their
husband s property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in her works. She believed
strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave. Other than gender equality
and love poems, she also wrote biographies and autobiographies. This includes a biography about
Charles the Fifth, which was very flattering and pleasing, and her autobiography, which talks about
her thoughts on women. This was written to cease the continued debate about women. Christine was

The Christianic Secret William Wilhelm Wrede Summary
Wilhelm Wrede Overview
The Messianic Secret is a theme of biblical criticism developed in 1901 by a German Lutheran
theologian named Wilhelm Wrede. The Messianic Secret involves Wrede s explanation for Jesus
wanting to hide his identity from his enemies by commanding the disciples to keep silent about his
mission on earth and the miracles he performed. Wrede claimed that Jesus did not ever think he was
the Messiah and that Mark and the rest of the New Testament authors sensationalized Jesus and made
him into the Messiah. Wrede claims Mark added the Messianic Secret in an attempt to give a reason
for why Jesus was not accepted by many as Messiah until after his death. Wrede s theory enjoyed
some popularity during the 1920s but faded soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of the Messianic Secret was thus an effort to harmonize the two conflicting
traditions the true one about the real Jesus and the theological one developed by his followers after he
was gone.
It was observed by William Wrede in 1901 that the inconsistencies in the narrative about Jesus in
Mark render incredible some accounts of the life of Jesus. It is not possible to trace how Jesus became
during his ministry increasingly conscious of his Messianic status. Wrede remarked on the oddness
that Jesus commanded people he had healed to be silent about it. (Mark 5: 43) Indeed sometimes
(Mark 7: 36) they immediately disobeyed the request.
Wrede explained that Mark was giving not a historical account but a theological interpretation. It was
impossible for Jesus Messiahship to have been accepted until after belief in the resurrection. Then it
was realized that Jesus had been the Messiah all along. But how was it that he was not recognized?
The answer was that he had sworn people to secrecy though the demons, being supernatural beings,
recognized the truth (Mark 1: 24). When Jesus spoke in parables, Mark s view was that they were
deliberately couched in language which concealed the truth from the listening crowd. (Mark 4:

KRONOS Book Review
An irrefutable quality of a strong leader is an unyielding desire to gain knowledge. Former President
John F. Kennedy himself stated that leadership and learning are indispensable to each other , which
can only further the argument of a necessity for a strong education system to develop a solid base
early in a student s life. Amelia Arcamone Makinano brings forth this debate and discussion in her
book KRONOS: All Devouring Federal Reserve , highlighting the profound implications of the
federal government s grip in the education system. In KRONOS , Amelia Arcamone Makinano wisely
asserts that illiteracy and the lack of education in American public schools has had indirect ties to the
state of the country s welfare and handling of the economy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Amelia Arcamone Makinano brings this issue to light in her extremely informative book KRONOS:
All Devouring Federal Reserve , where she speculates how this very problem has occurred for nearly
50 years in the United States. She juxtaposes many instances of great leadership and strong
educational reforms throughout moments in history, cementing her belief that the literacy of citizens
can be considerably beneficial to a country s success. Arcamone Makinano utilizes a structure of
example followed by analysis to further her arguments of the present day crisis of education, while
citing the main source of constant problems coming from the Federal Reserve Board, whose hold on
the education system has been depleting the strength of the American education system. Though a sign
of a good leader are the inclination to gain knowledge, the United States is losing its desire to gain
knowledge, which is resulting in an increase in illiteracy and a problem that will many future

The customer is a main thing from the business, without customer, the business will not run. As an
entrepreneur, we have to observe what the needs of the customers become. When we think about

Government In Cannery Row
The Government is a source of help for many people. Sometimes this grand of a government fails on
us. Then people begin to struggle. However sometimes the government takes over our lives to help us.
Not like a National Socialistic take over of our lives, but a socialistic. However, there are also many
different types of ideologies that the government controls its people. The people of Cannery Row have
created a socialist atmosphere to replace the government that has failed them.
Socialism in America began in Chicago IL, June 15 21, 1897. This ideology was founded at a joint
convention of the new combined American Railway Union. This was due to the two Railway
Industries combining with each other, Eugene V. Debs and the Brotherhood of the ... Show more

Lee knew some people would never pay back and some people would need to take time to pay back

Communism is a very similar ism to socialism. Both are left winged. However, Communism is more
similar to Liberalism in the aspect of helping out its own people. In communism the government
makes everyone at the same level, no one richer or poorer nor have more pay or less pay. And there is
no such thing as private property, government monopolizes with industries. Everyone is an equal and
everyone helps each other. This is a revolutionary socialistic concept.
The last to understand Socialism is National Socialism. This is Hitler s form of government, also
known as Nazism. This form of government is nothing like Cannery Row s government, at all. In
National Socialism people are not equal, racist, value of property and race are above equality, and the
absence of religion. This ideology is almost the complete opposite of socialism that is running through
Cannery Row. What is similar is absence of religion, Cannery cease to have any type of religion and
the people in the town are no racists at all. Otherwise everything in Cannery Row is the complete
opposite of Socialism.
Many causes converged to upset old beliefs and solidarities of the rich, and to reconstruct some of
their relations with one another and with government. They brought some of their troubles on
themselves. Others were forced on them by indignant

Quadratic Formula Research Paper
Completing the square is use to prove the quadratic formula. Given ax^2+bx+c=0 we first have to
make the coefficient of x^2 to be one. We divided the original formula by a: x^2+b/c x+c/a=0/a since
0/a we still have our quadratic equation. Subtract that c/a in both sides: x^2+b/c x+c/a c/a= c/a
remember that b/a is b/2(a) now we will have to add it to the root of two: x^2+b/a x+b^2/(4a^2
)=b^2/(4a^2 ) c/a next is to set up our denominators to be the same we should have
(x+b/2a)^2=b^2/(4a^2 ) 4ac/(4a^2 ) now that our denominators are the same we need to combine like
terms: (b^2 4ac)/(4a^2 ) in this step it resembles somewhat a part of the quadratic formula but we still
missing more steps. Now grab the x+b/2a and subtract the b/2a also put the ... Show more content on

Writing the y intercept in interval notation is [15/8,∞). The axis of symmetry has been found also
which is where the x of the vertex is meaning that it is x=1/4. We will now find where does it
increases and decreases, this should be easy now that we have our vertex and knowledge that all
quadratic equations are parabolas. We know that the domain is ( ∞,∞) any line coming from the
negative side it will decrease while the positive side will increase. Then the side that is decreasing will
stop to decrease at ( ∞,1/4), it will then begin to increase at (1/4,∞). This time we are finding the x and
y intercept, beginning with the x intercept we are going to use the discriminant of the quadratic
equation which is b^2 4ac. Plugging the numbers, it will be ( 1)^2 4(2)(2) the solution will be a
negative fifteen. The rule of a discriminant is that there cannot be negative numbers for x, this time
there are no x intercept. the x intercept does not exist we will replace it with a zero so the y intercept
can be found, by plugging the numbers y=2(0)^2 0+2 we will have the answer of y=2. The quadratic
equation will be crossing the y intercept at (0,2). Now writing the

Introduction into Treating Anaemia with Iron Tablets
Anemia, which is a condition that develops when there is a lack of red blood cells or isn t enough
healthy cells to support the body.
The symptoms are:
 Extreme fatigue
 Pale skin.
 Weakness.
 Shortness of breath.
 Chest pain.
 Headache.
 Dizziness or light headedness.
Causes of Anaemia can vary depending on the person. Iron Deficiency Anaemia can be caused by
bleeding, for example if a person has lost blood due to injury. The body may also not manufacture
enough healthy red blood cells to support the body. This can be due to not having a healthy or
balanced diet, also if you have a disease that limits the amount of nutrients your body absorbs can be a
cause of Anaemia. (NHS, 2012)
The aim of this Titration is to calculate the amount of IRON in the tablets to see if how much they are

As a result of increased corruption in the Catholic Church, a significant number of priests in the 16th
century tried to transform Christianity back to its previous Biblical basis and simplicity. Initially,
priests channeled much of their efforts in reforming the church, but they discovered that it was very
challenging, and the only viable solution was to split completely from the Catholic Church. There
were four movements as a result of the reformation events. They include the Anglicans, Lutherans,

Reformations Theological Issues
Luther identified three major principles that were acknowledged by other Protestant factions.
According to the theological premises, all Christians are mandated to believe in the Scripture s
primacy. The idea means that the Biblical literal meaning should be favored in contrast to any learned
or conventional readings. Christians are also supposed to reject anything not founded in Scripture.
Secondly, justification is by faith alone, and Christians through believing will be saved, and not by
their good works; as maintained by the Catholic Church. The other premise is the priesthood of the
believer. The idea meant that it was not ideal to consider ordained priests as the true spiritual estate
members. Priesthood was eliminated by Luther in Protestant Churches though some still make use of
pastors or ministers to lead.
Apart from the three principals, the Eucharist sacrament was also elucidated by Luther with reference
to consubstantiation. Consubstantiation refers to the assurance that Christ is indeed present in the
Eucharist celebration. The belief is also similar to the transubstantiation doctrine. However, in the
transubstantiation doctrine, it is believed that wine and bread factually change to the blood and body
of Jesus Christ during the

Carl Sandburg s Use of Allusion in Grass Essays
Carl Sandburg s Use of Allusion in Grass
Carl Sandburg s short poem Grass represents a metaphor for the disguise of history. The persona tells
how histories that have taken place are sooner or later disregarded. The persona tells that the histories
should not be disregarded, but be left the way it is as cited in the poem I am the grass .Let me work.
People should notice the events that took place and learn from their mistakes and be better people. The
places that are mentioned in the poem are allusions. The allusions are indirect references that Carl
Sandburg utilizes to exhibit the seriousness of the past events.
Every place that is mentioned in the poem is a well known bloody fight in wars that claimed many

At Austerlitz, even though Napoleon tasted his first victory he lost many men in the process.
Eventually his defeat at Waterloo obviously meant that he lost more men than in his victory. This is
where one of Carl s arguments of the poem comes into play. It is meaningless if one wins or looses the
reason being that the grass will get rid of all the signs of battles such as the dead people and would
have no effect whatsoever on people in the future.
The opening two lines of the following stanza is similar to the first line of the first stanza being that
the grass commands for more history left behind for it to wipe out at Gettysburg, Ypres, and Verdun.
All the grass wants to do is to accomplish its objective of wiping out physical signs of history.
However, these events are recent and so there may still be some visibility of the battles. Some
societies think that what happened hundreds of years ago happened yesterday. Carl then uses the
image of the passengers who pass the places mentioned in the poem now covered with the grass. They
ask the conductor What is this place? Where are we now? The passengers do not have a clue as to how
much blood had been dropped there in the stated places. They then carry on with their voyage just as
the grass keeps on growing.
While the grass covers all signs of history, it may also be pointed out that the allusions where battles
of war took place will be embraced by societies that see it as

The Effects Of Co2 On The Permeability Of Indian...
Introduction
In the storage of CO2 in the deep geologic reservoirs for enhancing extraction of coalbed methane
area, Vishal et al. argue against the consequences of CO2 injection on the permeability of Indian
bituminous coal at different confining and injection pressure.
The major approach of the journal is to clarify about when and how would the incensement of
injection pressure have impact on the permeability of coalbed methane.
As a final year Civil Engineering student, I found this journal is educational and inspiring. The
research shows a comprehensive explanation of how pressure and stress of permeability of coal to sub
critical CO2 is tested.

The effective stress is proportional to the confining pressure and pore pressure. Results, a trend of
exponential decline in permeability with increasing effective stress is observed. During the passage of
CO2 through the coal sample, the gas is absorbed, which cause volume deformation.
The journal concluded that the reduction in permeability of coal maybe attributes to the role of coal
matrix expansion. CO2 gets preferentially adsorbed onto the surface of the coal. At the same time,
adsorption induces swelling at the time of coal exposure to the gas. The increase of injection of gas
will cause the decline in permeability is belongs to the fracture spacing is not completely closed and
the movement of gas cause swelling. However, the closure of fractures, a flow with increase
permeability at higher injection pressure occurs at the highest confining pressure.. This is because the
opening of fracture by increases the fracture apertures and this can enable easier flow (The University
of Alabama. College of Continuing Studies, College of engineering, 2004).

number of standards, but all are separated through domains of mathematical learning. For example,
out of the fourteen NCTM Curriculum Standards for Secondary Mathematics, five standards detail the
process of learning mathematics. These standards include Mathematics as Problem Solving,
Mathematics as Communication, Mathematics as Reasoning, Mathematical Connections, and
Mathematical Structures. Similarly, Common Core State Standards provide the state of Alabama with
Mathematical Practice Standards which parallel with similar methods of learning mathematics. Within
the Virginia Standards of Learning are embedded similar languages describing mathematical learning.
There are several parallel thoughts concerning the mathematical learning process. NCTM Standard 1:
Mathematics as Problem Solving outlines the expectations for students to refine their method of
problem solving by investigation and integration of

Native Hawaiians And Asian Immigrants
In Hawaii, in the 1940 s, Caucasians, or haoles as they were commonly referred to, unfairly targeted
Native Hawaiians and Asians by giving them significantly lower wages. This treatment, along with
other social, economic, and political issues, created the negative atmosphere that led to 1949 Dock
Strike. On the one side of this conflict were the haole controlled companies known as the Big Five :
on the other side were the longshoreman workers made up mostly of Native Hawaiians and Asian
Immigrants. Although Native Hawaiians and Asian Immigrants struggled for decades against the Big

Analyzing Cicero s On Duties
In On Duties, Cicero argues that the moral connection between humankind should know no
boundaries. While making many arguments for this statement, the strongest point that Cicero makes
concludes that the art of speech ties all humans together and separates us from animals. In this paper, I
will argue that Cicero s view on the fellowship among the human race, is more plausible than it might
at first appear.
In order to understand his influence, you must understand Cicero s background. Cicero had a
remarkable political career during the time of the Roman Empire. Unlike most citizens during this era,
he believed in peace and unity among all humans. This was a different view than the Romans as they
fought for everything they wanted, and were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cicero believed in equality and peace, in a time where men were raised only to fight and be violent to
their neighbors. Cicero was a visionary who opened up a side to a common argument on war and
peace, that others had not thought of yet. Cicero believed that through the power of speech, we as
humans could overcome our violent primal urges and rise above our primate cousins. Cicero also
believed that through this natural connection between mankind, came moral obligations that needed to
be kept, no matter what time it was, whether it be peace or war time. To every argument ever made,
comes at least one counter argument. In order to not fall victim to the counter argument, it is important
to keep your moral compass aligned and to remember that every human was created equal. It does not
matter where you are on the developmental scale because as long as you are human you are equal to
those around you. Cicero may have found this out ahead of his time, but that does not make his
argument at all less valid. When it comes to the Just War Tradition, it is important to keep all sides
opinions in mind, as this moral agreement will be a part of every civilizations lives. No matter how
hard anyone tries to be peaceful, there will always be an enemy who refuses to settle for anything but
war. If everyone must agree to a set of rules that govern how and why each war

find it so fascinating is because of how easy it is to find the information needed for how much data it

Margaret Steffler s A Complicated Kindness
Margaret Steffler s article, Fragments and Absences, states, Language in A Complicated Kindness,
constructed, responded to, and commented on by Nomi as first person narrator, demonstrates a
linguistic fragmentation comparable to the material fragments surrounding the deserted daughter and
sister (5). To understand this comment further, we have to analyze A Complicated Kindness. In
Miriam Toews novel, we focus on the protagonists Naomi Nomi Nickel; she is a curious and defiant
sixteen year old who is developing in a kind of stunted world, or as she states a non progressive
community (11). Nomi is trying to find herself, and this brings her into conflict with the community,

Her narration is filled with constant deviations, jumping around, and incomplete endings; her inability
to maintain focus, it seems, is stated at the very beginning of the novel, Nomi has a problem with
endings (1). So, instead of an ending, she simply states a memory, or begins another story; we can see
this in the spaces between some paragraphs, the lines that indicate a beginning of a new fragment, or
simply a new chapter. Another example of her inability to conclude is the novels ending, it seems like
she is writing to her teacher her final assignment. In the assignment she ends it by saying she will do
things like leave and start a new life, but in actuality she hasn t done anything she is still sitting in the
empty house, so the reader is left wondering, did Nomi really get out of the Mennonite community?

The Gulf Between was wrote by Andre Siegfried. It had a big purpose during the time it was written.
The Gulf between was created to talk about the new society that America has created. Siegfried was a
Frenchman who has been to America numerous times, and made the comment that the life in America
has changed. The Gulf Between tells the reasons why American society has been changing and why
they are now in a new society. The audience for this section of the book could be for European
natives, American natives, history majors, or anyone who is wanting to learn about American and their
new society. The Gulf Between, was a part of the Atlantic Monthly that was wrote in 1928. In 1928
Calvin Coolidge was the president of the United States. However, in November Herbert Hoover wins
the presidential election and is to start his term. There were a few events that occurred in 1928. One of
the most popular events was Amelia Earhart starting and succeeding to be the first woman to cross the
Atlantic Ocean. The document was created in 1928, and published in 1928 as well. The dates mainly

The Klux Klan And The Klan
Throughout the 1920 s the Ku Klux Klan or KKK were a very powerful and influential group of white
protestant men in the United States. This powerful group advocated white supremacy, racism, anti
Catholicism, and nativism just to name a few things. Many of the KKK members, as well as their
followers disagreed with abolishing slavery and believed that immigrants, homosexuals, and southern
Republicans along with many others threatened American values. The Klan hit its peak during the mid
1920s with millions of members across the country (Wormser, 2002). The groups popularity came
from their violent reputations, as well as the print and media coverage they received throughout the
years. This soon allowed the Klan to have a powerful political influence at both the state and local
level. Although the media and newspapers were important elements in helping the Klan grow it was a
double sided blade, and soon was a leading cause in the group s demise.
The Ku Klux Klan has been classified as one of the first hate groups in the United States. This was
due to their excessive amount of violent acts towards any group of people who did not meet their
standards. A few of the goals of this group included; defeating the Republican Party and its supporters,
as well as trying to maintain an absolute white reigned America. The Klan was not afraid to use
violence to get their message across, and did so on many occasions. According to Jonathan M. Bryant

Throughout The History Of Mankind, The Greatest Inventors
Throughout the history of mankind, the greatest inventors were the few who paved their own roads to

printing store did well for them they mostly dealt with advertisements and a few newspapers here and

them. It wasn t the idea of printing that was so exciting it was building the printing press that Orville
enjoyed the most. In the 1890s bicycles were starting to get very popular and Orville and Wilbur were
infatuated with them. Orville went even as far entering local bike races. The brothers found a new
passion and in 1893 they would go on to open their own bicycle shop. This shop mostly sold bicycles
but also had a repair shop where they would fix them up if needed. Most of the bikes they sold were
bought from outside companies but they would end up making a small amount of them on their own in
the shop. The bicycle shop did well enough to relocate to a larger location but 1895. As interested as

Essay On Biomeltration
Currently, there are no effective treatments that actively promote tissue repair and regeneration post
moderate to severe TBIs. While there have been efforts to mitigate the secondary damage post TBI,
these measures have been proven clinically unsuccessful. At present, there is no cure for neither the
initial damage nor the secondary loss of tissue post the biomechanical insult. In this study, we sought
to devise a mechanism that would provide neuroprotective factors and facilitate tissue repair post
moderate to severe TBIs. We developed a sulfated CS GAG matrix, a biomaterial native to the brain s
ECM, capable of regulating NSC behavior.29 As part of this study, we acutely delivered these sulfated
CS GAG matrices into the rat cortex after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a local upregulation of BDNF in the GAG treated animals; BDNF is known to promote
angiogenesis.30 In addition, SDF 1α also promotes angiogenesis by elucidating homing mechanisms
that facilitate hematopoietic progenitor cell migration to the injury site post TBI.31 Previous studies
indicate that blocking the CXCL12/CXCR4 axis results in abolished hematopoietic progenitor cell
homing and decreased angiogenesis.31 Our CS GAG treated animals demonstrated an upregulation of
both the CXCL12 ligand and its corresponding CXCR4 receptor. The CS GAG treated animals also
exhibited upregulation of locally produced FGF2 which is a growth factor that is pro mitogenic and
pro angiogenic. Hence, the enhanced presence of NSCs in the sulfated GAG matrices depict the
bystander effect explained earlier by promoting tissue repair through cellular mitogenesis and
angiogenesis. The amalgamation of NSC proliferation and growth factor retention in the sulfated
GAG constructs promote repair post TBI. We have previously demonstrated that CS GAGs have high
binding affinity to FGF2,26 and additionally the local upregulation of FGF2 in the lesion site post TBI
of the treated animals suggests the potential role of CS GAGs in the maintenance of undifferentiated
NSCs. BDNF is a neurotrophic factor that has demonstrated neural regeneration, reconnection, and
improved synaptic efficacy.23

Gödel s Incompleteness Theorems
Gödel s incompleteness theorems were mathematically proven results but they had broad
philosophical consequences. They were proofs that would show that there are certain true propositions
that are improvable. They were epistemological truths, meaning they dealt with the nature of
knowledge itself by proving an absolute limitation on what we can mathematical prove. (Goldstein
2013)
To assess the effects of Gödel s results, the theorems themselves will be outlined, as will the three
schools of logicism, formalism and intuitionism, then the effects of the theorems on the schools shall
be considered. To appreciate the consequences of the incompleteness theorems there is a need to

(Struik 1987, 203). Logicism disagrees with Intuitionism as it asserts that we do not create knowledge
but simply reveal existing truths (Brown 2008, 125). Since in intuitionism abstract entities are
admitted only if they are man made (Snapper 1979, 209). Brouwer s criticism of Logicism is that they
use the principles of finite sets and their subsets as a form of logic beyond and prior to mathematics
and used it to reason about infinite sets (Kleene 1952, 46 7).
Intuitionism was developed as a reaction to Cantor s set theory and its paradoxes. Intuitionists sought
to rebuild mathematics from the bottom up . They saw Mathematics as an activity ; Mathematicians do
not access pre existing knowledge but construct knowledge (Brown 2008, 121).
Brouwer saw logic as an unreliable basis for mathematics and therefore Brouwer s intuitionism sees
mathematics as having its foundations with Ur Intuition, a basic intuition of the natural numbers
(Struik 1987, 202, Palmgren 2009). Its fundamental and defining characteristic is its analysis of what
it means for a statement to be true. In Brouwer s original intuitionism he demands truth though
constructivity (Struik 1987, 202). This means that he only allowed entities that had a clear and
definable method of construction. For example, in this way Brouwer would accept the idea of possible
infinitely, as it required a continuous set of constructions and remains forever in the

The American Dream Is A Flawed Concept
The American Dream is a flawed concept, a deceptive motivator, which promotes fantasy and
unrealistic capitalist goals (ideals) of success, while disregarding the immense costs. The American
Dream, conceptualized among early American frontiersmen deeply impacted societal thinking and
motivation. America meant more . More ideas, more possibilities, more space, more land, and finally,
more success. This concept is timeless for Americans and aspiring American citizens. The American
Dream can be broken down into two pieces, the illusion and reality of the dream. The white picket
fence, a classic symbol which represents the American Dream of owning private (protected) property
and raising a family, was an expensive decoration during the colonial era, which many Americans
desired. This symbol was maintained through early cinema and advertisements and is well known
internationally as a symbol for new opportunity in America. This is the illusion of the American
Dream. The financial success required to purchase this dream home is far more expensive than it
looks. The Average price of a home in the United States was $361,600 in July 2015 (U.S. Census),
while the average household income of 2013 was only $52,250. Some may think highly of this
number, however, it is far from being close enough to afford an average home. This is the painful
reality of the American Dream. For most people, in order to obtain this dream, one has to enter the

Repercussions In Sports
This article focuses on the severity of contact sport related injuries, more specifically head injuries and
concussions. This has been a hot top throughout many different professional organizations and it is
often discussed how each organization should handle these types of injuries. More recently they have
began to administer tests before each season so that when a head related injury occurs, team doctors
can more easily determine whether or not the athlete should return to the field and when the
appropriate time to do so is. Since the repercussions of allowing an athlete to return to quickly to play
can leave long term consequences, professional, college, and even high school teams have begun to
take these injuries more seriously by administering these tests. These tests are given before the season
starts ensuring that there has been no injury to the athletes head. After the season starts, if there is
some type of injury related to the head the athlete is given the test at three different times. These times
are 24 hours after injury, 5 days after injury and 10 days after injury. For the most part, the athletes are
back at their original test results from before the season started, during the 5 to 10 day span after the

Role of brands to consumers. To consumers, brands provide important functions. Brands identify the
source or maker of a product and allow consumers to assign responsibility as to which particular
manufacturer, distributor, or provider should be held accountable. More importantly, brands can take
on special meaning to consumers. Because of past experiences with the product and its marketing
program over the years, consumers learn about brands. They find out which brands satisfy their needs
and which ones do not. As a result, brands provide a shorthand device or means of simplification for
their product decisions. If consumers recognize a brand and have some knowledge about it, then they
do not have to engage in a lot of additional thought or processing of information to make a product
decision. Thus, from an economic perspective, brands allow consumers to lower search costs for
products both internally (in terms of how much they have to think) and externally (in terms of how
much they have to look around). Based on what they already know about the brand its quality, product
characteristics, etc. consumers can make assumptions and

The Bombing Of Lahore, Pakistan
On Easter Sunday, Lahore, Pakistan was next in a growing list of countries attacked on a large by a
suicide bomber in the past six months. The bombing, later claimed by Taliban affiliate Jamaat ul
Ahrar, targeted a park populated with Christian women and children celebrating the holiday. Photos of
bloody victims and rescuers soon surfaced as well as first hand accounts of the explosion. The sheer
horror and violent nature of the story and the photos as well as the constant international attention on
terrorism makes the story impactful and fits with the unfortunately familiar narrative that has
developed in the post 9/11 world. The story broke on Easter morning all over the world, and therefore,
it fits four of the five criteria that Doris Graber and Johanna Dunaway set in Mass Media and
American Politics for how stories are deemed newsworthy (113 114). However, the final criterion,
proximity, is the significant in regards to how the Lahore bombing was and continues to be covered in

portray the brand image similar to the one Nike has established. Asics and Nike both developed shoes
that appeal to athletes, runners, and fashion forward individuals that tailor to individuals looking
firstmost for comfort. Nike targets over all major sports and casual wear. Since Nike and Asics both
originally started as a shoe company, it still seems impossible for Asics to reach the numbers that Nike
strikingly accumulates year after year. Ironically, when Nike first established themselves in 1964, they
were purchasing Onitsuka Tiger shoes from Japan, the brand that Asics was originally known as. This
image that Nike has built over time and the fact they began as a shoe company originally has made it
Nike seem impenetrable to slow down by Under Armour. Under Armour hired Nike s old shoe
designer to recreate new shoes, but the same problem still exists: Under Armour is viewed as strictly

The remarkable differences between the trait and behavioural theory are that the last one emphasises
on both the accomplishment of the task as the main indications for the leader success, and employees

Situational leadership: According to this theory, the effectiveness of the leader is significantly
correlated with situational factors which restrict the performance of the leader positively or negatively.
In other words, the efficiency of leader s skills or traits are determined by the situation in which
leaders exercise leadership (Dessler,1976), These factors are:
Follower s contributions.
The availability and the utilization of the resources.
However, creating the harmonisation and the collaboration between the situational factors and the
leader are essential to determine leader s effectiveness.
Contingency Theories: basically, the assumption of this theory, that the behaviour of the leader can not
be standardised, instead, the leader should consider situational factors. The success of the leader in this
theory is measured by the ability of leader to adopt such a style to achieve certain task with a

Environmental Problems Of Global Warming
Introduction
Along with the rapid economic development in the past several decades, environmental problems
come to the public s attention recently. People from different countries all around the world start to
pay more attention to the environmental issues. One of the most concerned issues is global warming
which is mostly caused by the greenhouse gases emissions. Global warming will lead to long lasting
changes in our climate and may threaten people s health and welfare for current and future
generations. [1] United States Environmental Protection Agency finds that in 2012, the electric power
sector accounted for 32% of U.S. total greenhouse gas emissions. [1] Power plants are the largest
source of U.S. CO2 emissions. [1] Since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All over the world, sea levels will rise, perhaps by as much as 20 to 40 cm, by the beginning of the
next century. Higher sea levels will threaten the low lying coastal areas of the world, such as the
Netherlands and Bangladesh. Consequently, millions of people will have to leave their homes and
large areas of farmland will be ruined because of floods.
Besides, the changes in the weather will do the damages to the various kinds of crops grown in
different parts of the world. Many plants, such as maize and sugarcane, do not grow in higher
temperature. Changes in the amount of rainfall will also harm many plants grow. This will lead to
some countries not having enough food. Brazil, parts of Africa, south east Asia, and China will be
affected the most and many people could suffer from hunger.

Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy ( Msbp )
Abstract
MSbP is a mental disorder that causes parents to falsify their child s symptoms and predetermined
diagnosis. This is normally done by mothers who are seeking attention from the preferred environment
of the medical field. The offenders themselves do not suffer from MSbP, they inflict it onto their
children and therefore are the indirect patient, using their children as the one who actually undergoes
all of the treatments.
Keywords: MSbP, Disorder, Parent, Child, Medical Staff
Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (MSbP), is a form of child abuse in which a parent or caregiver
makes up or actually causes illnesses within a child so that they may obtain professional medical
treatment and advice for the child all the while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years there has been one common factor that many professionals who study MSbP have
concluded and that is the fact that it is one of the hardest types of abuse to establish a diagnosis on.
There was little to no records of it in previous years so the work being done to better understand this
disorder have all been done within the last few decades (Castiglia, 1995). When looking at the
previous recorded cases of MSbP, more than one third of the victims at the time did not realize they
were undergoing abuse (Castiglia, 1995). This is one of the most collective reasons as to why this
disorder lacks the history it needs to be further studied and thought of when looking at types of abuse.
When first discovered and studied, more than two thirds of people did not believe that MSbP could be
or was a real disorder. Today, even with history and scholarly studies backing up its allegations and
results, only one fourth of the population say s that they completely believe in it and think it is a
serious matter that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible (Beard, 2007).
Symptoms and Signs
When looking at MSbP, the first part to take into account is that it is an active type of abuse. There are
two types of MSbP noted

Business Ethics And Corporate Morals
Wall Street Journal
Introduction
Business ethics and corporate morals have been evolving over the years, and continue to do so. These
guidelines are constantly molding and vary as businesses become more integrated. Costco Wholesale
Corporation, is a very successful multinational business, but has had issues in following along with
social responsibility trends that come with advancements in domestic and worldwide partnerships.
Costco was established on September 15, 1983 by James Sinegal, and Jeffrey Brotman. They opened
their first warehouse in Seattle and has since become one among the world s most successful
multinational wholesalers. Costco Wholesale has its subsidiaries operating world wide. The wholesale

run into issues with corporate social responsibility, due to their lack of consumer product auditing,
false product provisions and affiliation with human rights neglecting subsidiaries.
The wholesale company values its employees, but as a business, it is important to take care of your
customer base. Sadly in retrospect, Costco managed to cause harm to their consumer and further
damage their name within the western market. Most recently Costco s salad consumers within the
United States have been infected with E. Coli. This recent outbreak spread across 7 states, and
according to Business Insider Five people have been hospitalized, and two have developed hemolytic
uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. . Costco was required to receive assistance and
consultation of the Food and Drug Administration due to the lack of proper produce regulation. Costco
has yet to give an official statement on this issue, but have removed all remaining rotisserie chicken
salad from all stores in the US and stopped further production of the product until further notice for
pandemic protection purposes. The contaminated products have made domestic consumers aware of
Costco s lack of care towards not only auditing through their products but also their lack of knowledge
of subsidiary companies who provide such faulty goods. Due to the state of America s

Happiness In The Movie Pursuit Of Happiness
Believing in self or self trust could save someone s life and lead life into the right direction toward
success. It did in Pursuit of Happyness where Mr. Gardner was losing control over his life until he
trusted himself. Then his life started to turn around and when he believed in himself, everyone else
believed in him and he succeed. Losing something of value can cause pain but when self trust is lost,
there is not much to do when you don t have self trust. When self trust is present, believing and
achieving soon follow leading to success in life. When America wrote the Declaration of
Independence, one of the most important, and well known lines was Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness . Something that is interesting to look into is why Thomas Jefferson put pursuit of happiness
instead of just happiness . The pursuit of happiness is about the journey, the good and the bad. Getting
through the hard times knowing there s light at the end of the tunnel. If happiness is always present,
there is no pursuit then happiness is suddenly taken away, and the person doesn t know how to pursuit
it again due to no pursuit at the beginning of happiness. The actual pursuit to happiness is more
important than the happiness itself due to the fact that happiness can be taken away at anytime but the
pursuit to get back will always be there. This is shown through the movie Pursuit of Happyness and
how self trust is so important in someone s life. In the movie, Mr. Gardner loses his wife, his
apartment, and almost loses his kid. He couldn t catch a break, everything that could go wrong went
wrong did. What he didn t lose what his self trust; that he could provide for little boy, be the father
figure his kid needs, and still be on the pursuit of happiness when it seemed like happiness was a
million miles away. The job he was applying for was a stockbroker and it was him and 20 other smart
people fighting for it. Nobody thought he could do it, not even his own wife who left him shortly after.
One example of self trust in the movie is when Mr. Gardner and his son Christopher are playing
basketball and talking then Mr. Gardner said You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can t do

Foundation of Orthodoxy and Formation of the Canon
THE FOUNDATION OF ORTHODOXY AND THE FORMATION OF THE CANON
Presented to

By
Dana Peebles

July 18, 2015 Throughout the legacy of Rome there has been much conversation over the rise and fall
of the empire. From the government and its ideas to establish an effective common law, to the
economic and social status of the culture and what the values and beliefs are for Christians, the
foundation of orthodoxy and the formation of the canon becomes quite influential in this process. It is
my desire to explain that despite the disputes going on within the early church, the essential matters
such as the nature, humanity, and deity of Christ are critical to the rise of ... Show more content on

Materials had to be collected, and the textual criticism and credibility needed to be established. By
doing this, the canon was discovered. In the discovery of canonicity, Erwin Lutzer describes how this
happened. Lutzer notes that the canon came to be through the chosen people of God. This collection of
books was not selected by a synod or council of the church, but rather by the recognition of
authoritative people of God. [8]. Elmer Towns, agrees with Lutzer s view and adds that the basis for
including a book in Scripture means that it needs to withstand six specific terms of criteria. First, it
must be prophetic (written by a prophet). Second, it must be authoritative (claims to be God s message
. . . thus saith the LORD ). Third, it must be authentic (written by the person who claimed to be its
author). Fourth, it had life transforming power. Fifth, it was widely recognized as the Word of God,
and lastly it was reliable (the contents were consistent with the rest of Scripture, the data were
accurate, and there were no inconsistencies in the book). [9]. Towns standard, is one that applies to
Christianity and orthodox when identifying what the canon is and which 66 books would make up the
content of the Bible and God s revelation to man through Scripture. Since the revelation of God is
personal and there are more than 20,000 religious denominations to sort through, we can see how key

Terry Gilliam s Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
For my micro analysis I have chosen Terry Gilliam s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (US, 1998). It is
a niche film, and while initially a commercial failure, quickly developed cult status. It is a black
comedy set in the 1960s, and revolves around the protagonist Raoul Duke and his helper Dr. Gonzo s
adventures in Las Vegas, as they traverse the city in a drug induced haze.
The sequence I will be looking at in this essay is the carnival scene [31:30 38:03], which takes place
in the second act of the film. It is difficult to say this with total certainty however, as Fear and
Loathing doesn t clearly follow Field s Three Act Structure there is no obvious
complication/confrontation, but rather several loosely related situations. In this part ... Show more

This creates a slapstick comedy moment with Gonzo falling about while Duke attempts to help him.
The long shot dominates this moment effectively due to how much of the environment is shown the
carousel, the casino, and other potential obstacles are visible in the background, combining to create
several planes of depth and movement, producing a parallax effect and disorientating the viewer. This
shot type positions the audience to sympathise with Gonzo s comedic struggle through the movement
of the camera, spinning of the carousel and the diegetic, fast paced carnival music it induces a
dizzying sensation, allowing the viewer to understand how the characters are feeling.
After the two manage to remove themselves from the carousel, they land in front of a group of
tourists, who recoil in horror or simply stare. This reminds the audience who may have become
adjusted to the pair s eccentric behaviour that they are still considered abnormal, even in the carnival.
The tourists could also be representative of the audience, in the sense that they can do nothing but
watch the characters in shock, unable to intervene. The medium shot used enforces that idea, as it
shows the scene from the POV eyeline of a confused

Diction In Zora Neale Hurston
In the opening sentence of the story Hurston s writes, It was eleven o clock of a Spring night in
Florida. It was Sunday (Hurston, 73). The beginning signifies correct English grammar and proper
sentence structure, but in seamless Zora Neale Hurston s fashion, the dialogue from the protagonist
Delia Jones reads in broken incorrect syntax, Sykes, you quit grindin dirt into these clothes! How can
Ah git through by Sat day if Ah don t start on Sunday (74)? In her short stories Hurston s diction is
elevated with the usage of morphology with the constant exchange of word formation with infixes,
affixes and the combining of word choices. Hurston s choice of diction offered a rhymical affect that
adds a melodious tone to her writing shaped by the Harlem Renaissance period. As noted in the, The
Florida Historical Quarterly Hurston blended narrator and protagonist through language (Haskin, 207)
Her writing style aid in the management of mood, tone, character depiction, movement, and
atmosphere in storytelling procedures. In the commencement of her stories, the storyteller, is
communicating in standard English, the third party narrative speaks as a representative for the
character waiting to find his or her voice. As the character(s) discoveries their voice, they sway the
narrator, and in the conclusion the narrator and central character are speaking for each other, using
equally poetic, participating language (207).
For illustration, in the story, The Back Room, Hurston

National Environmental Policy Act ( Nepa )
In the United States, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) was enacted on January 1, 1970 and
Environmental Protection Agency began operation December 2, 1970. In many developed countries,
since 1960s growing awareness about the side effects of unrestricted development and
industrialisation had pressured policy makers to establish environmental policies and agencies. During
that period, the policies were designed to focus on prompt and remedial action plans rather than
prevention tools. As a result, Command and Control (CAC) approach became the dominant tool which
is comprised of setting environmental standards (command) and penalising non complied actions
(control).
The experience with CAC during 70s and 80s suggests that the regulatory policies in practice cost far
greater than expected. Since CAC has been introduced by many countries, economists focused on the
economic evaluation of the approach in terms of its efficiency and cost effectiveness. Some studies
suggest that the environmental standards mandated by governments are hard to be set at an efficient
level because of legislative constraints, imperfect information, regional differences and non uniformity
of pollutants. Another issue with CAC is associated with enforcement problems such as costs of
monitoring and administration.
For the reasons mentioned above, new approach has been recommended by many economists. The
new policy is called Economic Instrument (EI) which provides incentives to companies or

is evident in both the first and second votes where Juror No9 and Juror No8, respectively, voted guilty.
At first he attacks Juror No8 saying it was a cut and dry case and then wrongly jumps down Juror No5
s throat accusing him for changing his vote when it fact it was Juror No9. His outburst exposed his hot
temper. Some of his outburst ... he was an old man! Half the time he was confused. How could he be
positive about anything? , helped introduce more reasonable doubt into the room which aided jurors in
changing his vote. Other evidence of his aggression is when he and Juror No12 were playing Tic Tac

Relationships In Dante s Inferno And Gunther
Throughout this semester all of the assigned texts have relationships between characters. There was
female female, male female, and male male relationships. Each of these categories drive the plot with
the use of relationships and bonds typically found between the characters. Today let us focus on male
male groupings and how their relationships were written and interpreted. Since there are many
different pairs to choose from I will be focusing on Dante and Virgil,Siegfried and Gunther, as well as
Roland and Charlemagne. Each of these relationships have similarities and differences that highlight
and expand upon the character s traits. To start off with in The Divine Comedy, Dante and Virgil s
relationship can be interpreted as Guide and pupil, pseudo familial, or even of a tyrant. The
relationship demonstrated from the first page describes
And I to him: Poet, I beg of you, in the name of God, that God you never knew, save me from this evil

  • 2. The Importance of Language and Culture The importance of language is a repeated trend throughout history. The lack of language weighs negatively on an individual s intellect and the acquisition of language feeds the development of one s cultural identity. The greatest historical conquest began in the realm of linguistic turmoil. Examples of this are vast in the capturing of American Americans slaves, and injustice towards the Native Americans on the home front. The captured people were taken from a variety of tribes speaking different native tongues to insure communication barriers resulting in the slaves not being able to overtake the ship or rally an uprising. The linguistic and cultural differences lead to the manipulation of the semantics of agreements, which lead to many Native Americans to lose their land. The British taken continentally instilled linguistic control over people from India to Southern Africa. British forcefully mandated the educational system be taught in English therefore ultimately taking over the languacultural acquisition of the continent of India s future. The pedagogy of language is connected to perpetuation of culture, traditions, and social norms. The Deaf community is another example of the importance of language acquisition throughout history. The impact of how a deaf child is educated impacts more than that deaf child alone but also the future of the Deaf community and the languaculture rich in American Sign Language. • 3. Statement of Cash Flows Essay Statement of Cash Flows STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS 1 The Statement of Cash Flows is a very viable and helpful resource. Decision makers use the Statement of Cash Flows in many instances to assess the viability of a firm. Within the statement are many types of elements that are incorporated to create the complete Statement of Cash Flows. Also within the statement is what is known as the inflows and outflows. In some cases, activity notes may be incorporated to help complete such representations. To fully understand the Statement of Cash Flows one must know the definition of it and what it in fact means. The Statement of Cash Flows is a change statement summarizing the transactions that caused cash to change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cash flow statement has three components of cash flow which includes how cash enters and leaves a company such as operating, investing and financing as mentioned above. The Statement of Cash flows includes measuring the cash inflows and outflows caused by operations. Cash inflows include cash received from: * Owners when sales are sold to them * Creditors when cash is borrowed through notes, loans, mortgages, and bonds Whereas cash outflows includes cash paid to: * Owners in the form of dividends or distributions STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS 3 * Owners for the reacquisition of shares previously sold * Creditors as repayment of the principal amounts of debt (excluding trade payables that relate to operating activities) The operations component of cash flow reflects how much cash is generated from a company s products or services. Generally, changes made in cash, accounts receivable, depreciation, inventory and accounts payable are reflected in cash from operations. The cash flow is calculated by making certain adjustments to net income by adding or subtracting differences in revenue, expenses and credit transactions (appearing on the balance sheet and income statement) resulting from transactions that occur from one period to the next. • 4. Essay On Adaptive Filters Adaptive filters have been successfully applied to diverse fields including communications, speech recognition, control systems, radar, seismology and biomedical engineering. Among various types of adaptive algorithms, the least mean square (LMS) algorithm is well known and widely adopted due to its simplicity and robustness to initial condition and noise. The performance of the LMS algorithm, in terms of convergence rate, maladjustment, mean square error (MSE), and computational cost, is governed by the step size. The frequency domain (FD) adaptive filter algorithm is known to be able to reduce the numerical complexity by using the overlap and save implementation method. It incorporates block updating strategies where the fast Fourier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A variable step size algorithm is proposed in,by focusing on achieving low residual error specifically for the acoustic echo cancellation applications and also lacks of convergence analysis. Thus, we are motivated to develop an FD step size control for LMS algorithm. Our objective is to achieve both fast convergence and low steady state error, and to provide theoretical analysis on the convergence. A new bin wise block varying step size for the FD LMS algorithm. The optimal solution of step size at each iteration is derived by cancelling the a posteriori error in each frequency bin, and its estimate is connected to the magnitude squared coherence (MSC) function. This Performs better than the existing FD algorithm in terms of both convergence rate and mean square deviation (MSD). Furthermore, compared to the TD algorithm, the proposed method converges faster in the presence highly of correlated filter input. 5.1.1 frequency Domain Variable Step Size LMS The derivation of the proposed FD step size control algorithm, ... • 5. The Chef With Jon Favreau Top Dog and Underdog Do you think you are having a hard month? Have you ever felt like the underdog and you aren t every going to be on top? Then you should watch the movie The Chef with Jon Favreau. The Chef is a great film about a Head Chef, who quits his high end restaurant job and buys a food truck to reclaim his creative promise; while piecing back together his estranged family. It is strongly agreed with LA Times writer Gary Goldstein whom stated, Warm, dimensional and intuitive, this Carl proves an ideal combo of top dog and underdog as well as a thoroughly credible kitchen master. The Chef can be highly recommended for many different reasons. One may say, for the famous A List cast members like Sofia Vergara and Henry Winkler. Sofia Vergara is one of the main actors of Modern Family. Henry Winkler is also, a known top actor from the 1970 s sitcom Happy Days. Another reason this film maybe highly recommended is for its great scene locations. The Chef was filmed in many different foods from the fancy restaurants to the Farmers Market; where the food is displayed in a way that enhance four of your five human senses. Maybe The Chef can be recommended for the eye catching landscapes locations from the streets of New Orlando to the beaches of Florida. However, one may say the film is an overwhelming delightful watch, because it is Jon Favreau writing and directing. The film, Favreau directing and writing was so delightful that subsequently the IMdb.com gave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Christine Castel Biography Christine took up writing so she could support her family. Her father, Tommaso Di Benvenuto di Pizzano, was an astrologer to Charles the Fifth, the king at the time. He was respected greatly by Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. Just a few months later, Christine s husband, Etienne, got the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so devastated she wished she could just die. Poems make up most of her writing. Usually those poems were about Christine s long lost love, Etienne, but that was before she realized how badly women were being treated. Remember, these were the Middle Ages; women weren t even able to work back then. Women also (usually) had no form of education. Women were even considered their husband s property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in her works. She believed strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave. Other than gender equality and love poems, she also wrote biographies and autobiographies. This includes a biography about Charles the Fifth, which was very flattering and pleasing, and her autobiography, which talks about her thoughts on women. This was written to cease the continued debate about women. Christine was the original advocate for women s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Christianic Secret William Wilhelm Wrede Summary Wilhelm Wrede Overview The Messianic Secret is a theme of biblical criticism developed in 1901 by a German Lutheran theologian named Wilhelm Wrede. The Messianic Secret involves Wrede s explanation for Jesus wanting to hide his identity from his enemies by commanding the disciples to keep silent about his mission on earth and the miracles he performed. Wrede claimed that Jesus did not ever think he was the Messiah and that Mark and the rest of the New Testament authors sensationalized Jesus and made him into the Messiah. Wrede claims Mark added the Messianic Secret in an attempt to give a reason for why Jesus was not accepted by many as Messiah until after his death. Wrede s theory enjoyed some popularity during the 1920s but faded soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The development of the Messianic Secret was thus an effort to harmonize the two conflicting traditions the true one about the real Jesus and the theological one developed by his followers after he was gone. It was observed by William Wrede in 1901 that the inconsistencies in the narrative about Jesus in Mark render incredible some accounts of the life of Jesus. It is not possible to trace how Jesus became during his ministry increasingly conscious of his Messianic status. Wrede remarked on the oddness that Jesus commanded people he had healed to be silent about it. (Mark 5: 43) Indeed sometimes (Mark 7: 36) they immediately disobeyed the request. Wrede explained that Mark was giving not a historical account but a theological interpretation. It was impossible for Jesus Messiahship to have been accepted until after belief in the resurrection. Then it was realized that Jesus had been the Messiah all along. But how was it that he was not recognized? The answer was that he had sworn people to secrecy though the demons, being supernatural beings, recognized the truth (Mark 1: 24). When Jesus spoke in parables, Mark s view was that they were deliberately couched in language which concealed the truth from the listening crowd. (Mark 4: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. KRONOS Book Review An irrefutable quality of a strong leader is an unyielding desire to gain knowledge. Former President John F. Kennedy himself stated that leadership and learning are indispensable to each other , which can only further the argument of a necessity for a strong education system to develop a solid base early in a student s life. Amelia Arcamone Makinano brings forth this debate and discussion in her book KRONOS: All Devouring Federal Reserve , highlighting the profound implications of the federal government s grip in the education system. In KRONOS , Amelia Arcamone Makinano wisely asserts that illiteracy and the lack of education in American public schools has had indirect ties to the state of the country s welfare and handling of the economy. ... Amelia Arcamone Makinano brings this issue to light in her extremely informative book KRONOS: All Devouring Federal Reserve , where she speculates how this very problem has occurred for nearly 50 years in the United States. Arcamone Makinano utilizes a structure of example followed by analysis to further her arguments of the present day crisis of education, while citing the main source of constant problems coming from the Federal Reserve Board, whose hold on the education system has been depleting the strength of the American education system. However sometimes the government takes over our lives to help us. Not like a National Socialistic take over of our lives, but a socialistic. However, there are also many different types of ideologies that the government controls its people. The people of Cannery Row have created a socialist atmosphere to replace the government that has failed them. Socialism in America began in Chicago IL, June 15 21, 1897. This ideology was founded at a joint convention of the new combined American Railway Union. This was due to the two Railway Industries combining with each other, Eugene V. Communism is a very similar ism to socialism. Both are left winged. However, Communism is more similar to Liberalism in the aspect of helping out its own people. In communism the government makes everyone at the same level, no one richer or poorer nor have more pay or less pay. And there is no such thing as private property, government monopolizes with industries. Everyone is an equal and everyone helps each other. This is a revolutionary socialistic concept. The last to understand Socialism is National Socialism. This is Hitler s form of government, also known as Nazism. This form of government is nothing like Cannery Row s government, at all. In National Socialism people are not equal, racist, value of property and race are above equality, and the absence of religion. This ideology is almost the complete opposite of socialism that is running through Cannery Row. What is similar is absence of religion, Cannery cease to have any type of religion and the people in the town are no racists at all. We divided the original formula by a: x^2+b/c x+c/a=0/a since 0/a we still have our quadratic equation. Subtract that c/a in both sides: x^2+b/c x+c/a c/a= c/a remember that b/a is b/2(a) now we will have to add it to the root of two: x^2+b/a x+b^2/(4a^2 )=b^2/(4a^2 ) c/a next is to set up our denominators to be the same we should have (x+b/2a)^2=b^2/(4a^2 ) 4ac/(4a^2 ) now that our denominators are the same we need to combine like terms: (b^2 4ac)/(4a^2 ) in this step it resembles somewhat a part of the quadratic formula but we still missing more steps. Now grab the x+b/2a and subtract the b/2a also put the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Writing the y intercept in interval notation is [15/8,∞). The axis of symmetry has been found also which is where the x of the vertex is meaning that it is x=1/4. We will now find where does it increases and decreases, this should be easy now that we have our vertex and knowledge that all quadratic equations are parabolas. We know that the domain is ( ∞,∞) any line coming from the negative side it will decrease while the positive side will increase. Then the side that is decreasing will stop to decrease at ( ∞,1/4), it will then begin to increase at (1/4,∞). This time we are finding the x and y intercept, beginning with the x intercept we are going to use the discriminant of the quadratic equation which is b^2 4ac. Plugging the numbers, it will be ( 1)^2 4(2)(2) the solution will be a negative fifteen. The rule of a discriminant is that there cannot be negative numbers for x, this time there are no x intercept. the x intercept does not exist we will replace it with a zero so the y intercept can be found, by plugging the numbers y=2(0)^2 0+2 we will have the answer of y=2. The quadratic equation will be crossing the y intercept at (0,2). Now writing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Iron Titration Essay Iron Titration Practical Introduction into Treating Anaemia with Iron Tablets Anemia, which is a condition that develops when there is a lack of red blood cells or isn t enough healthy cells to support the body. The symptoms are:  Extreme fatigue  Pale skin.  Weakness.  Shortness of breath.  Chest pain.  Headache.  Dizziness or light headedness. Causes of Anaemia can vary depending on the person. Iron Deficiency Anaemia can be caused by bleeding, for example if a person has lost blood due to injury. The body may also not manufacture enough healthy red blood cells to support the body. This can be due to not having a healthy or balanced diet, also if you have a disease that limits the amount of nutrients your body absorbs can be a cause of Anaemia. (NHS, 2012) The aim of this Titration is to calculate the amount of IRON in the tablets to see if how much they are actually benefiting people with Anaemia. What are the hazards? KEITH GOAD LIBERTY UNIVERSITY NOVEMBER 05, 2013 As a result of increased corruption in the Catholic Church, a significant number of priests in the 16th century tried to transform Christianity back to its previous Biblical basis and simplicity. Initially, priests channeled much of their efforts in reforming the church, but they discovered that it was very challenging, and the only viable solution was to split completely from the Catholic Church. Reformations Theological Issues Luther identified three major principles that were acknowledged by other Protestant factions. According to the theological premises, all Christians are mandated to believe in the Scripture s primacy. The idea means that the Biblical literal meaning should be favored in contrast to any learned or conventional readings. Christians are also supposed to reject anything not founded in Scripture. Secondly, justification is by faith alone, and Christians through believing will be saved, and not by their good works; as maintained by the Catholic Church. The other premise is the priesthood of the believer. The idea meant that it was not ideal to consider ordained priests as the true spiritual estate members. Priesthood was eliminated by Luther in Protestant Churches though some still make use of pastors or ministers to lead. Apart from the three principals, the Eucharist sacrament was also elucidated by Luther with reference to consubstantiation. Consubstantiation refers to the assurance that Christ is indeed present in the Eucharist celebration. The belief is also similar to the transubstantiation doctrine. At Austerlitz, even though Napoleon tasted his first victory he lost many men in the process. Eventually his defeat at Waterloo obviously meant that he lost more men than in his victory. This is where one of Carl s arguments of the poem comes into play. It is meaningless if one wins or looses the reason being that the grass will get rid of all the signs of battles such as the dead people and would have no effect whatsoever on people in the future. The opening two lines of the following stanza is similar to the first line of the first stanza being that the grass commands for more history left behind for it to wipe out at Gettysburg, Ypres, and Verdun. All the grass wants to do is to accomplish its objective of wiping out physical signs of history. However, these events are recent and so there may still be some visibility of the battles. Some societies think that what happened hundreds of years ago happened yesterday. Carl then uses the image of the passengers who pass the places mentioned in the poem now covered with the grass. They ask the conductor What is this place? Where are we now? The passengers do not have a clue as to how much blood had been dropped there in the stated places. They then carry on with their voyage just as the grass keeps on growing. Introduction In the storage of CO2 in the deep geologic reservoirs for enhancing extraction of coalbed methane area, Vishal et al. argue against the consequences of CO2 injection on the permeability of Indian bituminous coal at different confining and injection pressure. The major approach of the journal is to clarify about when and how would the incensement of injection pressure have impact on the permeability of coalbed methane. The effective stress is proportional to the confining pressure and pore pressure. Results, a trend of exponential decline in permeability with increasing effective stress is observed. During the passage of CO2 through the coal sample, the gas is absorbed, which cause volume deformation. The journal concluded that the reduction in permeability of coal maybe attributes to the role of coal matrix expansion. CO2 gets preferentially adsorbed onto the surface of the coal. At the same time, adsorption induces swelling at the time of coal exposure to the gas. The increase of injection of gas will cause the decline in permeability is belongs to the fracture spacing is not completely closed and the movement of gas cause swelling. However, the closure of fractures, a flow with increase permeability at higher injection pressure occurs at the highest confining pressure.. This is because the opening of fracture by increases the fracture apertures and this can enable easier flow (The University of Alabama. College of Continuing Studies, College of engineering, 2004). For example, out of the fourteen NCTM Curriculum Standards for Secondary Mathematics, five standards detail the process of learning mathematics. These standards include Mathematics as Problem Solving, Mathematics as Communication, Mathematics as Reasoning, Mathematical Connections, and Mathematical Structures. Similarly, Common Core State Standards provide the state of Alabama with Mathematical Practice Standards which parallel with similar methods of learning mathematics. The CS GAG treated animals also exhibited upregulation of locally produced FGF2 which is a growth factor that is pro mitogenic and pro angiogenic. Hence, the enhanced presence of NSCs in the sulfated GAG matrices depict the bystander effect explained earlier by promoting tissue repair through cellular mitogenesis and angiogenesis. The amalgamation of NSC proliferation and growth factor retention in the sulfated GAG constructs promote repair post TBI. We have previously demonstrated that CS GAGs have high binding affinity to FGF2,26 and additionally the local upregulation of FGF2 in the lesion site post TBI of the treated animals suggests the potential role of CS GAGs in the maintenance of undifferentiated NSCs. • 30. Gödel s Incompleteness Theorems Gödel s incompleteness theorems were mathematically proven results but they had broad philosophical consequences. They were proofs that would show that there are certain true propositions that are improvable. They were epistemological truths, meaning they dealt with the nature of knowledge itself by proving an absolute limitation on what we can mathematical prove. (Goldstein 2013) To assess the effects of Gödel s results, the theorems themselves will be outlined, as will the three schools of logicism, formalism and intuitionism, then the effects of the theorems on the schools shall be considered. (Struik 1987, 203). Logicism disagrees with Intuitionism as it asserts that we do not create knowledge but simply reveal existing truths (Brown 2008, 125). Since in intuitionism abstract entities are admitted only if they are man made (Snapper 1979, 209). Brouwer s criticism of Logicism is that they use the principles of finite sets and their subsets as a form of logic beyond and prior to mathematics and used it to reason about infinite sets (Kleene 1952, 46 7). Intuitionism was developed as a reaction to Cantor s set theory and its paradoxes. Intuitionists sought to rebuild mathematics from the bottom up . They saw Mathematics as an activity ; Mathematicians do not access pre existing knowledge but construct knowledge (Brown 2008, 121). Brouwer saw logic as an unreliable basis for mathematics and therefore Brouwer s intuitionism sees mathematics as having its foundations with Ur Intuition, a basic intuition of the natural numbers (Struik 1987, 202, Palmgren 2009). Its fundamental and defining characteristic is its analysis of what it means for a statement to be true. In Brouwer s original intuitionism he demands truth though constructivity (Struik 1987, 202). This means that he only allowed entities that had a clear and definable method of construction. For example, in this way Brouwer would accept the idea of possible infinitely, as it required a continuous set of constructions and remains forever in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American Dream Is A Flawed Concept The American Dream is a flawed concept, a deceptive motivator, which promotes fantasy and unrealistic capitalist goals (ideals) of success, while disregarding the immense costs. The American Dream, conceptualized among early American frontiersmen deeply impacted societal thinking and motivation. America meant more . More ideas, more possibilities, more space, more land, and finally, more success. This concept is timeless for Americans and aspiring American citizens. The American Dream can be broken down into two pieces, the illusion and reality of the dream. The white picket fence, a classic symbol which represents the American Dream of owning private (protected) property and raising a family, was an expensive decoration during the colonial era, which many Americans desired. This symbol was maintained through early cinema and advertisements and is well known internationally as a symbol for new opportunity in America. This is the illusion of the American Dream. They find out which brands satisfy their needs and which ones do not. As a result, brands provide a shorthand device or means of simplification for their product decisions. If consumers recognize a brand and have some knowledge about it, then they do not have to engage in a lot of additional thought or processing of information to make a product decision. Thus, from an economic perspective, brands allow consumers to lower search costs for products both internally (in terms of how much they have to think) and externally (in terms of how much they have to look around). Elmer Towns, agrees with Lutzer s view and adds that the basis for including a book in Scripture means that it needs to withstand six specific terms of criteria.
