The Gilded Age
CECIL DIAMOND
Analyze the Learner.
 Students are 11th Graders
 There are 20 students in total
 11 are Female, 9 are male
 12 of the students are Caucasian , 5 are African-American, and 3 are
Hispanic.
 Students should have prior knowledge of U.S. history up to 1870.
Main Objective
 Over the course of one school week, Students will show an understanding
of the major Socio-Political events of the Gilded Age and will acquiring the
knowledge through webquest, YouTube Videos ,class discussion, and other
various forms of technology, while also demonstrating this knowledge
through the use of twitter, wikispaces, moviemaker, photo story,
PowerPoint, Prezi, or a Robot, with a 100 % degree of accuracy.
Day by Day Breakdown.
 Day One: Students will complete the Gilded Age Webquest, then use Wikispaces to discuss key
people of the Gilded Age.
 Day Two: Students will watch two short YouTube videos on immigration and Native Americans
during the Gilded Age, then complete a multimedia project using moviemaker, PowerPoint, or
photo story, about the two groups.
 Day Three: Students will examine the various Presidencies throughout the Gilded Age by being
shown a PowerPoint and how those Presidencies influenced the Gilded Age. Students will then
examine the photo shops of President Garfield, and a poster supporting a labor organization, then
“tweet” a short response to my educational twitter account, about their reactions to the photo
shopped picture and the labor organization poster.
 Day Four: Students will begin creating multimedia presentations using movie maker, photostory,
PowerPoint, Prezi, or by creating a Robot, based on their experiences following a prominent
politician of the day on Facebook , or by reading a blog about the current political events of the
day, then comparing their political viewpoints to a prominent political figure, or figures, of the
Gilded Age. If students have any questions pertaining to this assignment, they can contact me on
Zello.
 Day Five : Students will present their multimedia projects to their fellow classmates, and should
be prepared to answer questions about the person of their choosing.

The gilded-age-unit-plan-power point

  • 2. Analyze the Learner.  Students are 11th Graders  There are 20 students in total  11 are Female, 9 are male  12 of the students are Caucasian , 5 are African-American, and 3 are Hispanic.  Students should have prior knowledge of U.S. history up to 1870.
  • 3. Main Objective  Over the course of one school week, Students will show an understanding of the major Socio-Political events of the Gilded Age and will acquiring the knowledge through webquest, YouTube Videos ,class discussion, and other various forms of technology, while also demonstrating this knowledge through the use of twitter, wikispaces, moviemaker, photo story, PowerPoint, Prezi, or a Robot, with a 100 % degree of accuracy.
  • 4. Day by Day Breakdown.  Day One: Students will complete the Gilded Age Webquest, then use Wikispaces to discuss key people of the Gilded Age.  Day Two: Students will watch two short YouTube videos on immigration and Native Americans during the Gilded Age, then complete a multimedia project using moviemaker, PowerPoint, or photo story, about the two groups.  Day Three: Students will examine the various Presidencies throughout the Gilded Age by being shown a PowerPoint and how those Presidencies influenced the Gilded Age. Students will then examine the photo shops of President Garfield, and a poster supporting a labor organization, then “tweet” a short response to my educational twitter account, about their reactions to the photo shopped picture and the labor organization poster.  Day Four: Students will begin creating multimedia presentations using movie maker, photostory, PowerPoint, Prezi, or by creating a Robot, based on their experiences following a prominent politician of the day on Facebook , or by reading a blog about the current political events of the day, then comparing their political viewpoints to a prominent political figure, or figures, of the Gilded Age. If students have any questions pertaining to this assignment, they can contact me on Zello.  Day Five : Students will present their multimedia projects to their fellow classmates, and should be prepared to answer questions about the person of their choosing.
