Robert Frost: Modern Multiplicity
Robert Frost is a multiple poet.
Louis Untermeyer
What is customary and, therefore, stereotypical of modern artistic thought is the belief that only one
central meaning can be gathered from any one reading; that these singular interpretations support, give
credence and justify hegemonic forces or grand narratives in society. Defining the term modern in his
work The Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge, Jean Francois Lyotard designate[s] this
name and movement to any science ... legitimat[ing] itself ... [by] making an explicit appeal to some
grand narrative (xxiii). It is thus to the disgust of postmodernists to find Robert Frost s name, poems
and poetry listed with such a narrow minded, self aggrandizing, so called sophisticated group (like
T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound and Amy Lowell) since Frost was not a poet who believed science and
language nor the source of science and language to be singular, but rather ulterior, double speaking or
multiplicitous. In short, Frost believed duplicity or duplicitous interpretations should be drawn out of
the reader with the help of the author through the medium of poetic form which, to him, paradoxically
eliminates the author s influence on the reader.
A sample of Frost s multiplicity or multiplicitous form can be extracted from the opening line of one
of his last well known poems Directive whose first line begins Back out

The Methodist Hospital Of Indiana
Problem summary
The Methodist hospital of Indiana was undergoing organizational and leadership change in 1988.
Their longtime head had retired and William J. Loveday became their new CEO. He brought in a
whole new management team to help him implement new ideas and create a new culture there. His
new CFO was in charge of the IS department and after discovering that the department was in
shambles with no real direction, he hired Walter C. Zerrener to become the Chief Information Officer.
Zerrener found that the Methodist Hospital had spent about $20 million to install a state of the art
proprietary patient management system called TDS in 1970s but had done no upgradation after that .
The IS department was solely focused on keeping the TDS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They also allowed the outdated technology to be maintained instead of replacing it with new
technology. The organizational structure created problems for the systems used at Methodist as well.
All the departments using the old system had no problem internally, but they were not connected with
any other departments. There was no common database and processes. For example, different
departments used different patient identifiers and when physicians needed information on a patient s
history, they could not get it from the various computers because the patient was identified differently
in each of them. This created a lot of dissatisfaction for both the doctors and the patients.
Technologically they were dependent on an outdated system which created a backlog of five to seven
months. Further, the mainframe system could only be accessed from terminals inside the hospital
which made it inaccessible to doctors, patients and other interested parties. The system could only
keep current information on patients formally admitted for a week and if older records were required
one had to go look at the paper records. All of these created a disorganized and fragmented working
environment.
Process Evaluation
Zerrenner suggested they create a short term task force of 25 members to determine an appropriate
solution instead of using the IS

Arguments Against Banning Catcher in the Rye Essay
The Catcher in the Rye
By: JD Salinger
Why The Catcher in the Rye Should Not be Banned
By: Ryan Gash
By: Ryan Gash
There are people who would like to see The Catcher in the Rye banned from our schools because it
contains disturbing issues. In my opinion they are overlooking the message that J.D. Salinger was
trying to communicate. In this novel, the characters exhibit a wide scope of behaviors from honorable
to ignominious. The novel presents issues such as respect for religion, or lack thereof. As though these
issues were not enough by themselves, there is also the subject of intolerance of others. How, may you
ask, should this novel be allowed in our schools? Well, the answer lies deep within the symbolism of
the novel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Holden considers himself somewhat of a pacifist, he does care enough about certain things in
his life that he is willing to fight for them. This devotion should be respected, not frowned upon.
Holden s moral behaviors are not the only things that he should consider improving. Holden also
seems to have a lack of respect toward religion. We hear him say that he doesn t really like the twelve
disciples but he does like Jesus. He says his reason is because the disciples didn t help Jesus while he
was alive. This particular idea of Holden s is totally askew. He evidently has not understood the Bible
clearly and therefore his feelings may be derived from his misinterpretations. He also mentions that he
considers himself an atheist because religion seems to be too much for him. Holden seems to have had
too many negative experiences for him to be able to believe in God. This is all ironic though because
when he talks to the nuns he insists upon giving them a $10 donation and attempts to pay for their
lunch but they do not allow him to. I believe that Holden truly believes in God and is just waiting until
something good happens for him to be able to start having faith.
Holden s lack of religious knowledge is not the only thing that Holden is intolerant of; he also is
intolerant of most people. Holden s lack of respect for nearly

Research Paper On Pigs
From updated Pigknows reports we saw that for the 26 weeks completed thus far this year, you are at
112% of your weaned pig target. You re at 100% of your efficiency goal and, 99% of your quality goal
giving your farm and overall farm score of 103% or, A+ work. Congratulations on all of these
achievements. We also went over your updated annual graphs and quarterly graphs and, saw that the
last two quarters have had tremendous improvements. Those improvements being you are now
weaning 36,000 pigs a quarter with an 86% farrowing rate, 16 total pigs born, 14 live born and,

their environment. Dropping the feed afterwards doesn t help. They don t really get that concept.
Please be sure that any sows that are not eating are gotten up, so at least twice a day so they are

Plenti Case
Background
American Express (AXP) recently launched a multi sponsor coalition program called Plenti in which
sponsors (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid, and ATT) issue loyalty points which can be redeemed across
them and are valid for 3 years. In 2014 we were negotiating participation contract with Rite Aid.
Under their existing loyalty program (Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+Ups) which were
valid for 2 weeks and could be used only within their stores. Rite Aid was concerned that if they join
Plenti that they will issue a large number of loyalty points which will be redeemed at other partners
especially the Grocery partner and they will be effectively subsidizing the program for them.
Challenge
As part of the negotiations, our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used Census data to estimate customer shopping frequency at sponsors and geographic overlap.
We estimated approximately 70% of coalition members stay in Rite Aid s footprint while only 40% of
members will be enrolled through Rite Aid. The analysis implied $30 $40M redemptions will happen
at other sponsors within Rite Aid s footprint.
We estimated we could influence redemption behavior at Rite Aid by running promotions (e.g., 1000
points are worth $12). So by spending $2 $6M we could influence $10 $30 of redemptions at Rite Aid.
As we discussed with Rite Aid, their concern was more around losing margin on sales associated with
point redemption. At 30% margin it implied risk of $3 10M risk each year
Result
We combined the information and agreed with Rite Aid to reimburse them for margin shortfall if
points redeemed in stores was less than points redeemed outside their stores and also proposed annual
cap of $3M $9M, with claw backs if are able to outperform in subsequent years.
The structure helped address Rite Aid s concern and at same time limited our risk to $2 6MM each
year which was significantly lower than the revenue

Universal Design Model
When teaching students with diverse needs depending on the student s disabilities the individual
student will need different accommodations or modifications to access the curriculum. Throughout a
teacher s career special education teachers will come across a wide range of diverse learning needs. I
think that one helpful way to help all students with or without diverse needs access the curriculum can
be done through the concept of Universal Design for Planning. According to Kristen Lee Howard
(2004), UDL consists of, Focusing educators on developing flexible curriculum that provides students
with multiple ways of accessing content, multiple means for expressing what they learn, and multiple
pathways for engaging their interest and motivation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These strategies for students can be built on their strengths of learning. The students can demonstrate
their work through ways that help them build on their weaknesses through using their strengths. The
students will begin to feel confident in themselves and their individual learning. One way of
implementing UDL into the classroom is through a three step model that focuses on Respecting
Diversity, Inclusion Instructional Practices and System and Structure. The first model Respecting
Diversity, according to Katz (2011) states, Programs that help teachers to create a classroom climate
that improves students self concept, sense of belonging, and respect for diverse others (4). I believe
that respecting students diversity in learning styles will help provide a safe learning environment for
all students. When working with students with diverse needs in an inclusion classroom it s important
for the students to believe in themselves. Students with learning needs can feel overwhelmed with the
other students in the class. It s our job as the teachers to help build a community amongst the

The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada
The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada
The Great Depression of the 1930 s is a benchmark for all depressions and recessions in the past and
in the future. In the booklet The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada , Michiel Horn gives an
intellectual dissection of the events that occurred during the Great Depression. Michiel Horn s
approach leaves the reader with a foul taste for the Dirty Thirties. This essay will summarize Michiel
Horns key points as well as discuss the ability of Michiel Horn to report his findings.
Michiel Horn is currently the Chairman of the History Department at York University. His interests in
the Great Depression revolve around the history of taxation. Therefore, he is interested in making ...

As people were having fewer children at this time, the population growth of Canada slowed. In an
effort to keep jobs for Canadians, the government decided that it would reduce immigration. The first
group targeted was the Jewish people. Some Canadians even decided to go to the United States in
search of greener pastures . The movement of people from the country to cities also slowed. This was
because it was easier for people to subsist in the country where they could chop their own firewood
and live off the land. Life on the farm was actually not much better than in the city, as a drought cost
many farmers, particularly those in the west, their crops.
The political scene was dominated by a Liberal party that would not commit a five cent piece towards
the cost of unemployment relief . This eventually led to their defeat in the summer of 1930. The
winner of the election was the Conservative party. Their goal was to get Canada back up and running.
In an effort to do so, they raised tariffs on imports and tried to protect national interests. This actually
had the opposite affect on the economy and pushed the country further into economic hardship. The
government around this time was also trying to balance the budget. In order to balance the budget,
they increased taxes which also had a detrimental affect on the economy. After five years, the
Conservatives were defeated due to unorganized leadership. The Liberals won the election in 1935.

New York Stock Exchange Essay
On May 17, 1792 24 stock brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement on Wall Street in New York
City under a Buttonwood tree. The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need
for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the
American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock
Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its
present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. During the 19th century, most of the things traded in the
Stock Exchange were government bonds. Few corporations were in existence during this time but they
were primarily banks that people could buy and sell stocks. Over the centuries more companies joined
the exchange with the railroad industry dominating the market through the 20th century. The invention
of the telegraph allowed for easier trading and membership expansion. The current membership is
limited to 1,300. The organization is a nonprofit organization that minimizes fraudulent offers and

Sustainable Agriculture Vs. Traditional Agriculture
Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional
Agriculture. First I ll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture
are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer
way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool
or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn t damage a lot like traditional
agriculture does. But that s my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and
what advantages it has.
A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil. Also
it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected when
the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and that s how
traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals. It also affects different
species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the level is
high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live close to these
farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going through their family
generations.
Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops.
Other advantages that it

Gilgamesh Conflict Analysis
In the beginning of Chapter 3 of the epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is faced with a difficult decision:
should he reject the goddess of love and war, Ishtar s romantic advances? It may appear that
Gilgamesh should have accepted Ishtar s offer of marriage, as the rejection led to the death hundreds
of innocent citizens of Uruk. On the surface, the epic could easily mislead the reader to believe this is
the case, but without further analysis, the reader may miss the epic s major character flaws that would
have made a relationship between Gilgamesh and Ishtar catastrophic. Through studying the behavioral
tendencies each character possesses, this misunderstanding can be addressed. Through this study, it
becomes clear that Gilgamesh s pride and Ishtar s sharp temper prove that a relationship between them
should not happen because this combination of traits tend to escalate each other to extreme levels of
conflict. In order to prove this claim, the paper will be structured to follow the order of the plot. I will
be focusing on Gilgamesh s harsh rejection to Ishtar, and how it begins to undermine any chance of a
healthy relationship between them. Then, I will be analyzing Ishtar s reaction to the insults, and then I
will be studying Gilgamesh s celebration to his victory over Ishtar. For each component, I will be
studying how Gilgamesh s pride and Ishtar s temper escalate their conflict.
Gilgamesh and Ishtar would make a poor couple because Gilgamesh s pride and Ishtar s short

Abstract
Android one of the simplest mobile operating system developed by google on the basis of Linux
kernel. Android SDK is used to develop android applications. It uses Java programming language. It is
designed to run on different types of devices. It is composed of OS, user interface and application
components. Android has built in tools. Android platform composed of Linux kernel, system libraries,

It provides core system services security, memory management, process management, network group,

device. Android devices however, don t all come from one place, the open nature of the platform
allows for proprietary extensions and changes. These extensions can help or could interfere with
security, being able to analyze a distribution of Android is therefore an important step in protecting
information on that system. The resulting security model is much more like a multi user server than
the sandbox found on the J2ME or Blackberry platforms. Unlike in a desktop computer environment
where a user s applications all run as the same UID (UNIX user identifiers). Android applications run
in separate processes under distinct UIDs each with distinct permissions. Programs can typically

Western Film Conventions
The western film Shane (1953) was produced by director George Stephens and is based on the original
book Shane (1949) written by Jack Schaefer. The western genre has specific codes and conventions
that make it easy for an audience to recognise, such as; iconography (guns, horses, and typical cowboy
costume), frontier towns, ranchers and homesteaders, gamblers, bandits, vast open lands and
conquering virgin territory. Furthermore, western films often include binary oppositions such as; the
individual versus the community, civilisation versus the wilderness, nature versus culture, good versus
bad etc. The film Shane incorporates all of these aspects well, making it a recognisable and successful
western film.
The opening scene makes quite clear many of the binary oppositions, although focuses primarily on
the individual and civilisation. The first glimpse we get of Shane is a lone cowboy riding through a
wide, empty valley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fences, barriers and their destruction play a key role throughout the film and emphasise the theme of
freedom versus restriction that is present throughout. Again from the opening sequence, we see the
wooden fence surrounding the homestead put there in order to keep trespassers from invading their
land, their livestock from escaping or from desert animals coming in and destroying their crops and
livelihood, the river also provides a further barrier from these things. Therefore the fence and river act
as protection from individuals outside of their family community. It may also be used to keep the
community in; during the film it becomes obvious that little Joey develops a huge friendship and
admiration for Shane, who is not part of the community. This could suggest that Joey wants to grow
up and be like Shane and the fence therefore is to keep Joey in and a part of the homesteader s

Ladies and gentlemen. 1 Today is indeed a remarkable day. I therefore count it as a great honour to be
among you to share some wisdom together. I thank the executive of the club for putting up this kind of
forum. This is highly commendable and I salute your outstanding leadership! I also greet my audience
with great humility, for while some are on their bed sleeping off destiny, you have rather chose to

audience. 2 The topic before me simply states; The Role of Discipline in Destiny Fulfillment. It is
such a very interesting subject matter. Whosoever may have thought of it has done quite a very good
job. Many people dream about fulfillment, but only few see it, for while they are still on the road to
destiny, many young girls become young mothers and young boys take to drug and other dangerous
habits. And as we together dissect the topic, I beseech you all to demonstrate the first discipline, by
listening with open minds. 3 Before I begin to analyse all my analytical analysis, we may need to
define some terms and terminologies for us to have a proper comprehension. Discipline is defined as a
method of training your body and mind or of controlling

Augustine Confessions Analysis
In Confessions by Saint Augustine he comes to the realization that friendships are fundamental to a
human s life because they bring people happiness. As Augustine reflects back on his own life he
questions his friendships and how the role of happiness plays over his lifetime. Another ancient Greek
philosophical term for happiness is Eudaimonia. The most accurate translation of this word is human
flourishing which is imperative to creating a whole person and directly applies to Augustine s life.
Friends give him guidance which Augustine needs because he isolated himself from his community.

Specifically in adolescence Augustine s relationship with God is non existent and he is not religious
even though his mother Monica pushes for him to be religious. His lack of religious affiliation is
because he is inexperienced and does not have the knowledge to think for himself. His rebellious
attitude and intolerance for religion can be directly linked to whom Augustine associates himself with.
The association of these friends served Augustine s satisfaction for rebellion. Augustine was lead
down a narrow minded and secular view of the world and his friends brought out the worst in him.
When Augustine started hanging out with these friends he knew that they did not share different
morals and beliefs but the more he hung out with them he stopped acknowledging this and accepted
their lesser morals as if they were his own. Augustine enjoyed the company of these friends and
remained close with them. During this time Augustine s friends did not bring him happiness because
peer pressure only ushered misery. This misery lead Augustine to start acknowledging that he was not

A Critical Analysis Of Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Shirley Jackson s short story The Lottery is set in a small village who relies deeply on their crops. This
story is about a sacrifice that takes place every year in which the heads of households draw for their
families in order to see who wins and saves the town. The readers grow close to a character named
Tessie who decides to speak her mind when it s too late. In the end, the townsfolk realise that what
comes around goes around. Before the ceremony started, Tessie Hutchinson was almost late. Instead
of apologizing, she joked and acted as if it was nothing. This day is one of the most important days of
the year for the town folk, it should not be easily forgotten. When she finally arrived the first thing she
said was, Clean forgot what day it was... and then I looked out the window and the kids was gone, and
then I remembered it was the twenty seventh and came a running, instead of formally addressing the
serious situation and apologizing, she gave an inadequate excuse. Tessie was so late that people knew
that her priorities aren t in the right places. By the time she had gotten there, people started to think
she wasn t going to show up without notice, we can recall a few people saying, Bill, she made it after

The Basic Function Of The Hydraulic System
As we know that there is increase in population and due to this there is a very high demand of
vehicles. As the sales of cars and bikes are increasing there is a shortage of parking spaces. People
park their cars on road, which causes very long traffic jams and due to this common man faces a lot of
problems. So we came up with what was called Multilevel Parking .
Its sounds pretty cool, but the main problem was how are we going to achieve it?
We build track through the building for the vehicles to take them on different parking level, which will
cost more and will not be for generations.
Another solution was using Hydraulics, motors and electric system to take the cars to different level
and it will last much longer.

How Automated parking System Work
Automated car parking system using a similar type of technology to use the package for mechanical
handling and document retrieval.
The driver leaves the car inside the system/parking lot with the help of equipments (like sensors) the
vehicle is parked in an assigned area. Hydraulic lift or Mechanical jack is used to move the vehicle to
higher or lower levels of the parking for proper parking. The vehicle can be moved vertically in the
parking (up down) and horizontally (left or right) until the car needed again. When the vehicle is
required, the process is reversed and the transport car raises the vehicle again to the same area where
the driver left. In some cases, a turntable be used to position the car so that the driver comfortable
drive away without saving the need. The car parking system uses hydraulic lifters for this purpose.

right next to Juarez, Mexico with a population of over 2 million. As stated in the Debate.org article,
Border Fence , El Paso, San Diego, and McAllen are the epicenter for cartel violence, hub for drug
trafficking, and illegal immigration. There is a border fence that stretches over 30 miles in and around
the El Paso area, with a border patrol agent stationed every 300 yards over the same span. With a
population of close to 800,000 with over 80% of that being Hispanic, it is a very controversial subject
along the border region. (Debate.org Article)
There are multiple political forces that are playing a part in the border security/illegal immigration
controversy. The current administration has publicly made reference that they will not revisit securing
the border without a comprehensive immigration reform bill. The conservatives believe that in order
to have a discussion regarding immigration reform, securing the border must come first. Depending
upon which side of the isle that a person takes regarding the securing of the border, they fall in two
categories the conservatives mainly reside on the pros, and the liberal party tends to side on the cons
of building a fence.
Pros of Building a Fence
One of the pros for building the fence is that control of the borders are required for national security .
With the rise of terrorist groups around the world including

African American Ministry Research Paper
These are the issue that the modern African American pastor must address currently. His/Her
preaching must speak true, authentic words for the oppressed, the down trodden, the deprived, the
captives, the poor, the rich, the illiterate, as well as to the intellect. Presently, the hostile moment of
worldliness is a belief that life is to be realized at any cost to self. Thus, here lies the Christian
paradox: through the Gospel we have to see Jesus as a truth relevant to humanity s need to rise higher.
The Gospel is to be preached to all. It is a Gospel to save the humanity of African American people
but the gospel is beneficial for all. Therefore, the African American preacher s message must have
within its content something more than that which causes the people to enter in a foot patting, hand
clapping, highly emotional, ecstatic worldly experience, but also a content which serves to balance the
life of God s people on earth.

These systems historically have been fragmented and inadequate causing program ineffectiveness and
personal stress among pastors. The degree to which the African American pastors are effective is
crucial to the health of the church. Pastors with strong support systems based upon sound theology,
spiritual disciplines, management training, insurance systems, and outplacement services, have a
better chance of producing strong effective ministries, as compared to unhealthy leaders producing
unhealthy, ineffective leadership. Not only can ineffective leadership cause by certain types of stress
and stressors produce poor ministries, but it can also produce unhealthy people living unhealthy
doctrines. These issues have a spiritual effect on the pastors. These choices may lead to stress and,

Rousseau And Wollstonecraft And Women In The Age Of The...
Ever since the emergence of civilizations, men and women have had completely different and unequal
roles in society. For centuries, women have been oppressed by the theories of men theories that
declare women to be physically and intellectually inferior to them. As a result, the social expectations
for both genders have stayed static for hundreds of years: men are expected to dominate the world,
while women are expected to take care of the household. However, in the 18th century, an age of
intellectual enlightenment where the development of new ideas was encouraged, women began to gain
more access to education. As women gained more education, there were many women thinkers who
began to question and argue against the role that society had given them. In contrast, male thinkers
found new ways to reaffirm traditional ideas about the inferiority of women. Thus, in the opposing
viewpoint, Women in the Age of the Enlightenment: Rousseau and Wollstonecraft, two philosophers,
Jean Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft, provide their own interpretations of this debate,
offering completely different perspectives. In his work Émile, Rousseau reflects the views of many
male thinkers of his time, as he argues that there are natural biological differences (592) between men
and women that make women mothers and not intellectuals. In contrast, Mary Wollstonecraft, also
known as the founder of modern European feminism (591), believes in the equality between men and
women, but

Arab Nationalism Research Paper
At present, many Arabs have suspended their belief in the Arab nation, and now openly doubt whether
there is a collective Arab mission. Those recently swept up by Islamic activism prefer to think of
themselves first and foremost as Muslims, and do so without apology. However, for a significant
period of time, Arab nationalism was considered the leading ideology in the Arab world. In the 20th
century, Arab nationalism proved to be a dominant and influential movement. However, the inability
of the ideology to remain credible following the defeat of the Arab states in 1967, the rise and growing
significance of nation state nationalism, and the rise of fundamentalism resulted in its eventual
decline.

Arab nationalism would begin to gain popularity in the 1910s, as the power of the Ottoman Empire
steadily decreased and Arab people were increasingly enticed by the idea of an Arab unity. The
development of Arab nationalism, especially in the 1910s and 1920s revolved around three critical
events and movements. The first major development in Arab nationalism was the emergence of the
ideology itself from cities throughout the Middle East, particularly in the Fertile Crescent where the
movement gained popularity in reaction to changes that happened in 1908 in Istanbul, the heart of the
Ottoman Empire. Second, WWII made it possible for some Arabs, with the support and direction of a
new ally, the British to fight against the rule of the Ottomans. Thirdly, with the Ottoman Empire
crumbling in the late 1910s, Arab nationalism was able to became the dominant ideology and would
subsequently became increasingly popular after the British backtrack on its promise to Sharif Husayn
and the Hashemite family to form an Arab kingdom (Khalidi, 1991, p 205). The British, for their part,
incited the Sharif of Mecca to launch the Arab Revolt during the First World War. The Ottomans were
defeated and the rebel forces, loyal to the Sharif s son Faysal ibn al Husayn entered Damascus in
1918. By now, Faysal along with many Iraqi intellectuals and military officers had joined al Fatat
which would form the backbone of the newly created Arab state that consisted of much of the Levant
and the Hejaz. In addition to Arab revolt by Sharif Husayn in 1916, various revolts had significant
influence in the spread of nationalism in the Middle East. A number of Arab revolts against the
European powers took place following the establishment of the British and French

Ultrasound Technician, No Two Days
However for an ultrasound technician, no two days are exactly the same. Each shift brings with it a
new docket of patients with different ailments. The ultrasound technician job description may call for
a tech to be on their feet for a majority of the day; working in darkened rooms while performing their
scan. Every appointment is different from the last and these sessions can last anywhere from 20
minutes to an hour. When finished, the reports are then sent to a radiologist for review and diagnosis.
Like many healthcare jobs, working so closely with a physician or surgeon under stressful
circumstances can become a little overwhelming. This is why proper training comes in hand. A very
talented Ultrasound Technician should have an excellent grasp on anatomy and an ability to spot
irregularities with the imagery. Ultrasound technicians, also known as diagnostic medical
sonographers, operate machines called sonographic scanners that create images of patients internal
organs. Sonographers can work in physicians offices, clinics or hospitals, and night and weekend
shifts may be required. They may specialize in certain areas, such as breast, obstetric or vascular
sonography. An associate s or bachelor s degree is usually required, and individuals who already hold
a degree in another area of healthcare often can complete sonography training through a one year
certificate program. Sonographers spend much of their day moving around from room to room in a
medical setting or

Functional Movement Analysis Essay
Intro: This movement analysis project examines the free throw of a male college basketball player.
The foul shot was broken up into four segments of movement which can be listed in order as the wind
up, the set, the shot, and the follow through. We also examined the athlete s
Functional Movement Screen (FMS), highlighting where the athlete excelled and where he had
deficits. The FMS findings were applied to the skills needed to compete in basketball at the collegiate
level. Lastly, we analyzed the arthrokinematics and osteokinematics of the joints during these
movements, the angles of those joints, as well as the muscles involved during the movements.
Description: To begin the study, our group was given an athlete. First, our athlete was asked to
perform a FMS, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, the athlete was positioned standing behind a college regulation basketball foul line, in front of
and in line with the basket and given a basketball to hold at waist level. The athlete was then asked to
perform a foul shot, and was video recorded from a lateral and frontal view using an app called
Technique. The video captured the full movement in two lines of sight.
Using the app, the motion was broken into segments, paused and a still shot was taken. A still shot was
taken at the beginning and end of each segment. The segments included backswing where the ball was
brought from waist level to just anterior to the head. Next was force producing movement where the
ball was positioned slightly inferior to its previous position to where max power could be produced.
Then critical instant , where the ball is pushed with great force (up until ball leaves fingertips), Lastly,

Environmental Effects Of Plastics
Plastic never leaves. Also, it s inexorably discovering its way into our seas and onto our shorelines.
Huge amounts of plastics are drifting around the sea today like grocery plastic bags, straws and bottles
are conveyed into the Pacific Sea consistently. Today billions of pounds of plastic can be found in
twirling convergences on the world s sea surfaces. Plastics contamination has an immediate and fatal
impact on wildlife. A vast amount of seabirds and ocean turtles, seals and other marine animals are
killed every year subsequent to ingesting plastic or getting snared in it. Plastics are detrimental to
aquatic ecosystems for a number of different reasons: they may entangle animals, be ingested by
aquatic organisms and cause their death. Plastic causes pollution in the ocean and endangers the
inhabitants of many sea creatures. Plastic comes in many different kinds and variety, some are largely
noticeable and some are micro particles. Tiny plastic objects are the most dangerous to the sea
creatures especially to the marine mammals. These micro or tiny bits and pieces of plastics tend to get
consumed accidentally by many marine animals. Plastic is the great pretender, conceived in mimicry
and dedicated to the simulation of everything else in art and nature (208, Ebbesmeyer). Ebbesmeyer
claims that plastics can be any sort of form(s). Just like any other object in the world has some plastic

restless, Nietzsche inspired, Catholic shaming, husband snatching, money marrying, worldly
ambitious woman Clare was so famously thought of as. The content of these articles, consequently,
rendered over a thousand letters of feedback, both negative and positive. A friend, in particular, wrote
on the positive side stating, Clare always had the capability of being great... Her conversion to
Catholicism had given her the humility, the gentleness, and the warmth to love individual people as
opposed to a sense of duty to humanity. These were the things she needed to make her the really great
woman she now is. She was officially accepted into the Catholic church in 1946, the same year she
decided she would retire from politics. This decision was, in truth, greatly influenced by her faith. In a
conversation with Wilfrid Sheed, she stated that the trouble with politics was you could never admit a
mistake, which hardly suited her confessional mood at the moment. Furthermore, she was determined
to avoid assumptions that her Catholic conversion was for political

The Sustainability Website, And There Are Some Positive...
I have recently reviewed the UMass sustainability website, and there is some positive things that I
have seen. There are also some things that could be improved upon. I will be discussing a number of
different issues regarding communication of sustainability, and how UMass appears to be approaching
those issues, as well as ways to improve our initiative.
To begin with I would like to state that there is a difference between the dominant and ecological
paradigm in the context of the sustainability initiative. The dominate paradigm is what values in a
society that are most standard and widely held. Dominant paradigms are shaped both by the
community s cultural background. The ecological paradigm sees the current dominant paradigm as ...

If what they say in their first statement is true, this is a good step. Exploring and communicating ways
to improve upon our communities practices, ideas, and technologies would fall into the new ecological
paradigm. It would be an attempted to shift away from the dominant unsustainable paradigm. The next
point mentioned in the mission statement is We educate the campus community to create a healthier
and more responsible environment . Education of a community is how a paradigm shift will happen.
Education about what is unsustainable, why being unsustainable is harmful, and how to become more
sustainable is absolutely vital in order to shift a community s thoughts, ideas, and behaviors. Next the
mission statement says that We develop progressive solutions to reduce negative environmental
impacts in ways that are economically beneficial . Solutions to reduce negative environmental impacts
are what is needed in order to change from unsustainable to sustainable. Understanding problems won
t help unless solutions to those problems are known. Lastly, the mission statement says that We create
and consistently advocate for a diverse inclusive culture of sustainability throughout the campus
community and beyond . By trying to create and advocate a culture of sustainability, they are also
trying to shift the paradigms from the dominate to ecological. Based on the information provided by
the mission statements, I would have to say

Annotated Bibliography On The Midwifery
Midwifery in rural Ghana Across the enormous continent of Africa, there are a myriad of birth
practices, customs, and traditions. From spiritual ceremonies, consumption of certain fruits, blessing
ways to having supportive birthing assistants are some of the very common and important customs
from African countries, especially Ghana. One of the oldest and most widely recognized customs is
midwifery. Midwifery is the act of assisting women and their families before, during, and after
childbirth. Moreover, some midwives also perform abortions and aid in post abortion care
(Otsea et al., 1997). Midwifery includes aiding expectant mothers in labor, food preparation for their
families while the mother is recovering from labor, breastfeeding, emotional support for new parents,
postpartum care and child care. Midwives are also called traditional birth assistants or TBAs (Nicholas
et al., 1976). Midwifery has been practiced for hundreds of years in Africa, especially Ghana. As a
result of moderate technology improvements and medical advancements, midwifery is not commonly
practiced in more developed countries in Africa. Everyone in Ghana do not engage in midwifery.
However, in communal and small villages in rural parts of Ghana midwifery is a well known and
revered custom. In most northern rural areas of Ghana, midwifery is preferred over modern birth
practices. In the rural parts of Ghana, midwives are loved and admired in their villages. Midwives are

  • 2. Modern F. Robert Frost David Ahlman Charles Vogel English 2520 601 Due Date: November 9th, 2015 Robert Frost: Modern Multiplicity Robert Frost is a multiple poet. Louis Untermeyer What is customary and, therefore, stereotypical of modern artistic thought is the belief that only one central meaning can be gathered from any one reading; that these singular interpretations support, give credence and justify hegemonic forces or grand narratives in society. Defining the term modern in his work The Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge, Jean Francois Lyotard designate[s] this name and movement to any science ... legitimat[ing] itself ... [by] making an explicit appeal to some grand narrative (xxiii). It is thus to the disgust of postmodernists to find Robert Frost s name, poems and poetry listed with such a narrow minded, self aggrandizing, so called sophisticated group (like T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound and Amy Lowell) since Frost was not a poet who believed science and language nor the source of science and language to be singular, but rather ulterior, double speaking or multiplicitous. In short, Frost believed duplicity or duplicitous interpretations should be drawn out of the reader with the help of the author through the medium of poetic form which, to him, paradoxically eliminates the author s influence on the reader. A sample of Frost s multiplicity or multiplicitous form can be extracted from the opening line of one of his last well known poems Directive whose first line begins Back out ... • 3. The Methodist Hospital Of Indiana Problem summary The Methodist hospital of Indiana was undergoing organizational and leadership change in 1988. Their longtime head had retired and William J. Loveday became their new CEO. He brought in a whole new management team to help him implement new ideas and create a new culture there. His new CFO was in charge of the IS department and after discovering that the department was in shambles with no real direction, he hired Walter C. Zerrener to become the Chief Information Officer. Zerrener found that the Methodist Hospital had spent about $20 million to install a state of the art proprietary patient management system called TDS in 1970s but had done no upgradation after that . The IS department was solely focused on keeping the TDS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also allowed the outdated technology to be maintained instead of replacing it with new technology. The organizational structure created problems for the systems used at Methodist as well. All the departments using the old system had no problem internally, but they were not connected with any other departments. There was no common database and processes. For example, different departments used different patient identifiers and when physicians needed information on a patient s history, they could not get it from the various computers because the patient was identified differently in each of them. This created a lot of dissatisfaction for both the doctors and the patients. Technologically they were dependent on an outdated system which created a backlog of five to seven months. Further, the mainframe system could only be accessed from terminals inside the hospital which made it inaccessible to doctors, patients and other interested parties. The system could only keep current information on patients formally admitted for a week and if older records were required one had to go look at the paper records. All of these created a disorganized and fragmented working environment. Process Evaluation Zerrenner suggested they create a short term task force of 25 members to determine an appropriate solution instead of using the IS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Arguments Against Banning Catcher in the Rye Essay The Catcher in the Rye By: JD Salinger Why The Catcher in the Rye Should Not be Banned By: Ryan Gash By: Ryan Gash There are people who would like to see The Catcher in the Rye banned from our schools because it contains disturbing issues. In my opinion they are overlooking the message that J.D. Salinger was trying to communicate. In this novel, the characters exhibit a wide scope of behaviors from honorable to ignominious. The novel presents issues such as respect for religion, or lack thereof. As though these issues were not enough by themselves, there is also the subject of intolerance of others. How, may you ask, should this novel be allowed in our schools? Well, the answer lies deep within the symbolism of the novel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Holden considers himself somewhat of a pacifist, he does care enough about certain things in his life that he is willing to fight for them. This devotion should be respected, not frowned upon. Holden s moral behaviors are not the only things that he should consider improving. Holden also seems to have a lack of respect toward religion. We hear him say that he doesn t really like the twelve disciples but he does like Jesus. He says his reason is because the disciples didn t help Jesus while he was alive. This particular idea of Holden s is totally askew. He evidently has not understood the Bible clearly and therefore his feelings may be derived from his misinterpretations. He also mentions that he considers himself an atheist because religion seems to be too much for him. Holden seems to have had too many negative experiences for him to be able to believe in God. This is all ironic though because when he talks to the nuns he insists upon giving them a $10 donation and attempts to pay for their lunch but they do not allow him to. I believe that Holden truly believes in God and is just waiting until something good happens for him to be able to start having faith. Holden s lack of religious knowledge is not the only thing that Holden is intolerant of; he also is intolerant of most people. Holden s lack of respect for nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plenti Case Background American Express (AXP) recently launched a multi sponsor coalition program called Plenti in which sponsors (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid, and ATT) issue loyalty points which can be redeemed across them and are valid for 3 years. In 2014 we were negotiating participation contract with Rite Aid. Under their existing loyalty program (Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+Ups) which were valid for 2 weeks and could be used only within their stores. Rite Aid was concerned that if they join Plenti that they will issue a large number of loyalty points which will be redeemed at other partners especially the Grocery partner and they will be effectively subsidizing the program for them. We estimated approximately 70% of coalition members stay in Rite Aid s footprint while only 40% of members will be enrolled through Rite Aid. We estimated we could influence redemption behavior at Rite Aid by running promotions (e.g., 1000 points are worth $12). So by spending $2 $6M we could influence $10 $30 of redemptions at Rite Aid. As we discussed with Rite Aid, their concern was more around losing margin on sales associated with point redemption. At 30% margin it implied risk of $3 10M risk each year Result We combined the information and agreed with Rite Aid to reimburse them for margin shortfall if points redeemed in stores was less than points redeemed outside their stores and also proposed annual cap of $3M $9M, with claw backs if are able to outperform in subsequent years. Michiel Horn s approach leaves the reader with a foul taste for the Dirty Thirties. In an effort to keep jobs for Canadians, the government decided that it would reduce immigration. The first group targeted was the Jewish people. Some Canadians even decided to go to the United States in search of greener pastures . The movement of people from the country to cities also slowed. This was because it was easier for people to subsist in the country where they could chop their own firewood and live off the land. Life on the farm was actually not much better than in the city, as a drought cost many farmers, particularly those in the west, their crops. The political scene was dominated by a Liberal party that would not commit a five cent piece towards the cost of unemployment relief . This eventually led to their defeat in the summer of 1930. The winner of the election was the Conservative party. Their goal was to get Canada back up and running. In an effort to do so, they raised tariffs on imports and tried to protect national interests. This actually had the opposite affect on the economy and pushed the country further into economic hardship. The government around this time was also trying to balance the budget. In order to balance the budget, they increased taxes which also had a detrimental affect on the economy. After five years, the Conservatives were defeated due to unorganized leadership. The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. During the 19th century, most of the things traded in the Stock Exchange were government bonds. Few corporations were in existence during this time but they were primarily banks that people could buy and sell stocks. • 10. Sustainable Agriculture Vs. Traditional Agriculture Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional Agriculture. First I ll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn t damage a lot like traditional agriculture does. But that s my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and what advantages it has. A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil. Also it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected when the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and that s how traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals. It also affects different species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the level is high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live close to these farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going through their family generations. Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops. Other advantages that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Gilgamesh Conflict Analysis In the beginning of Chapter 3 of the epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is faced with a difficult decision: should he reject the goddess of love and war, Ishtar s romantic advances? It may appear that Gilgamesh should have accepted Ishtar s offer of marriage, as the rejection led to the death hundreds of innocent citizens of Uruk. On the surface, the epic could easily mislead the reader to believe this is the case, but without further analysis, the reader may miss the epic s major character flaws that would have made a relationship between Gilgamesh and Ishtar catastrophic. Through studying the behavioral tendencies each character possesses, this misunderstanding can be addressed. Through this study, it becomes clear that Gilgamesh s pride and Ishtar s sharp temper prove that a relationship between them should not happen because this combination of traits tend to escalate each other to extreme levels of conflict. In order to prove this claim, the paper will be structured to follow the order of the plot. I will be focusing on Gilgamesh s harsh rejection to Ishtar, and how it begins to undermine any chance of a healthy relationship between them. Then, I will be analyzing Ishtar s reaction to the insults, and then I will be studying Gilgamesh s celebration to his victory over Ishtar. For each component, I will be studying how Gilgamesh s pride and Ishtar s temper escalate their conflict. Gilgamesh and Ishtar would make a poor couple because Gilgamesh s pride and Ishtar s short ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Android SDK is used to develop android applications. It uses Java programming language. It is designed to run on different types of devices. It is composed of OS, user interface and application components. Android has built in tools. Android platform composed of Linux kernel, system libraries, android run time, and application framework and so on five parts. Android relies on Linux 2.6 version. Android has a unique security model, which focuses on putting the user in control of the device. Android devices however, don t all come from one place, the open nature of the platform allows for proprietary extensions and changes. These extensions can help or could interfere with security, being able to analyze a distribution of Android is therefore an important step in protecting information on that system. The resulting security model is much more like a multi user server than the sandbox found on the J2ME or Blackberry platforms. • 13. Western Film Conventions The western film Shane (1953) was produced by director George Stephens and is based on the original book Shane (1949) written by Jack Schaefer. The western genre has specific codes and conventions that make it easy for an audience to recognise, such as; iconography (guns, horses, and typical cowboy costume), frontier towns, ranchers and homesteaders, gamblers, bandits, vast open lands and conquering virgin territory. Furthermore, western films often include binary oppositions such as; the individual versus the community, civilisation versus the wilderness, nature versus culture, good versus bad etc. The film Shane incorporates all of these aspects well, making it a recognisable and successful western film. The opening scene makes quite clear many of the binary oppositions, although focuses primarily on the individual and civilisation. Therefore the fence and river act as protection from individuals outside of their family community. It may also be used to keep the community in; during the film it becomes obvious that little Joey develops a huge friendship and admiration for Shane, who is not part of the community. This order authorized the removement of all Japanese Americans into internment camps. One of those camps being located 30 minutes away from where I reside. It horrifies me to picture how this man could exclude and relocate innocent people into camps simply because they were of the same race as our country s enemy at the time. These Americans were treated with no respect, stripped from their rights, and even killed at these camps. The name of the camp near me is Rohwer and it is located in Desha county. The most accurate translation of this word is human flourishing which is imperative to creating a whole person and directly applies to Augustine s life. His/Her preaching must speak true, authentic words for the oppressed, the down trodden, the deprived, the captives, the poor, the rich, the illiterate, as well as to the intellect. Presently, the hostile moment of worldliness is a belief that life is to be realized at any cost to self. Thus, here lies the Christian paradox: through the Gospel we have to see Jesus as a truth relevant to humanity s need to rise higher. The Gospel is to be preached to all. It is a Gospel to save the humanity of African American people but the gospel is beneficial for all. Therefore, the African American preacher s message must have within its content something more than that which causes the people to enter in a foot patting, hand clapping, highly emotional, ecstatic worldly experience, but also a content which serves to balance the life of God s people on earth. 6. • 25. Rousseau And Wollstonecraft And Women In The Age Of The... Ever since the emergence of civilizations, men and women have had completely different and unequal roles in society. For centuries, women have been oppressed by the theories of men theories that declare women to be physically and intellectually inferior to them. As a result, the social expectations for both genders have stayed static for hundreds of years: men are expected to dominate the world, while women are expected to take care of the household. However, in the 18th century, an age of intellectual enlightenment where the development of new ideas was encouraged, women began to gain more access to education. As women gained more education, there were many women thinkers who began to question and argue against the role that society had given them. In contrast, male thinkers found new ways to reaffirm traditional ideas about the inferiority of women. Thus, in the opposing viewpoint, Women in the Age of the Enlightenment: Rousseau and Wollstonecraft, two philosophers, Jean Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft, provide their own interpretations of this debate, offering completely different perspectives. In his work Émile, Rousseau reflects the views of many male thinkers of his time, as he argues that there are natural biological differences (592) between men and women that make women mothers and not intellectuals. The first major development in Arab nationalism was the emergence of the ideology itself from cities throughout the Middle East, particularly in the Fertile Crescent where the movement gained popularity in reaction to changes that happened in 1908 in Istanbul, the heart of the Ottoman Empire. Second, WWII made it possible for some Arabs, with the support and direction of a new ally, the British to fight against the rule of the Ottomans. Huge amounts of plastics are drifting around the sea today like grocery plastic bags, straws and bottles are conveyed into the Pacific Sea consistently. A vast amount of seabirds and ocean turtles, seals and other marine animals are killed every year subsequent to ingesting plastic or getting snared in it. Plastics are detrimental to aquatic ecosystems for a number of different reasons: they may entangle animals, be ingested by aquatic organisms and cause their death. From spiritual ceremonies, consumption of certain fruits, blessing ways to having supportive birthing assistants are some of the very common and important customs from African countries, especially Ghana. One of the oldest and most widely recognized customs is midwifery. Midwifery is the act of assisting women and their families before, during, and after childbirth.
