Evaluation Of The Research And Creative Work
UROP Application Spring 2016
Christopher Jones
Mentor: Trafton Drew
Department of Psychology Statement of the Problem/Topic of the Research or Creative Work Visual
Search is important in our everyday lives, and search relies on cues from the environment and uses
object similarity to guide search. While much research has been done to see how visual similarity
between objects affects visual search (Duncan and Humphreys 1989), very little research has been
done to see how different types of similarity between objects compare in their effects on visual search.
Specifically the proposed project would investigate how semantic similarity and visual similarity
influence visual search using real world objects. The usage of real world objects is important because
many laboratory visual search tasks are not reflective of visual search in a real world setting. Neural
measures gathered from EEG (Electroencephalogram) data in the form of ERP (Event Related
Potential) components can be used to measure onset of attentional processing, as well as how
distracting certain objects may or may not be. Specifically the N2PC reflects a shift in attention to a
visual target. Using this ERP component, the neural differences between visual and semantic
similarity in objects can be evaluated and compared between participants. While research shows there
is a behavioral effect between visual and semantic similarity among distractors in visual search (De
Groot, Huettig, and Olivers 2016),

Animal And Non Infectious Diseases
Until the last half of the 20th century, the emphasis of veterinary medicine had been on the treatment
of individual animals with clearly identifiable diseases or defects. Apart from immunization against
rabies and prophylactic treatment of internal parasites, restricted attention had been given to animal
health and comprehensive preventive medicine, which give proper consideration to both infectious
and non infectious diseases.
Currently, the nature of traditional clinical practice is changing in all developing and developed
countries. The pet owners are better educated, and the value of individual animals relative to
veterinary fees has decreased. It is imperative to develop pet animal health programmes designed to
prevent infectious diseases, rather than just dispensing traditional treatment to clinically sick animals.
Due to the vast demographic changes in India, pet animal populations have increased above 10
millions within 2002 2012. Thus as a part of pet animal welfare, preventive measures for infectious
diseases like vaccination against parvoviral enteritis, canine distemper, leptospirosis, infectious canine
hepatitis, parainfluenza, kennel cough etc; deworming schedule for parasitic diseases like
ancylostomiosis, toxocarosis etc; grooming practices to avoid skin problems and ectoparasites for
control of hemoprotozoan diseases like babesiosis, ehrlichiosis etc.; hygenic measures are to be

Sophocles Oedipus The King
The renowned Greek philosopher, Aristotle, is widely known for his theories in mathematics, physics,
and politics. However, he is also known for establishing ideas in the field of literature, such as the
concept of tragedy and the theory of the importance of scenes of recognition and reversal. This ancient
concept and theory are still highly discussed and used to analyze numerous pieces of literature to this
day. One piece that could be considered as an ideal tragedy is the play Oedipus the King written by
Sophocles. In this play, Sophocles utilizes the concept of tragedy as well the theory of the importance
of scenes of recognition and reversal to create a setting, tone, and mood throughout the play. Oedipus,
the mythical king of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of the use of fear to bring emotion to the reader in Oedipus the King is when the city of
Thebes is suffering from a plague that destroys fields of crops as well as the fertility of its woman. A
blight is on the fruitful plants of the earth, a blight is on the cattle in the fields, a blight is on our
women that no children are born to them; a God that carries fire, a deadly pestilence, is on our town
(Sophocles 26 30). At the beginning of the play when Oedipus is asking the people of Thebes why
they are sitting in front of his palace, a Priest explains that there is a plague going on in the city and
they want an end to it. It is later known that the plague will never end until the murderer of Laius, the
king of Thebes before Oedipus, is found. Oedipus vows to find the murderer, which eventually leads
to him finding out he was the one who killed his father and married his own mother, thus fulfilling his
fate. This extracts pity from the reader, for all the character tried their hardest to run from the
prophecy but in the end, it still catches them. Lastly, tragedy can be seen throughout the entire play, as
readers see the steady downfall of a hero, who was heavily influenced by his hubris or pride. Aristotle
s ideal tragic hero is one the must exceed the average man intellectually, physically and mentally.
Oedipus not only travels throughout the city defeating numerous foes, but eventually becomes the
king of Thebes. Not only that, according to

video at least once in their life. Most of us watch videos on youtube weekly if not daily. It is playing
an important role in defining todays pop culture. This famous website was created by three friends:
Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. At first, they came up with an idea of creating a website
called HotOrNot, where people get to upload their videos and the viewers would then decide whether
they were hot or not. But this idea was too specific. So, in february 2005 they came up with a website
called YouTube and it went live on May 2005. The first ever video was a 19 second clip of Jawed at

The Deaf Community and Its Culture
During registration last semester, when I decided to take this course to see if I wanted to continue
onward with ASL as my minor, I was not sure what to expect. Through my brief introduction of Deaf
culture during my first sign language courses, I knew some vague details about historical events.
Gallaudet had been mentioned several times within not only my workbook, but also by my professor. I
could have given you a short synopsis of the oral movement that threatened to wipe ASL out as a
language. Though I knew these facts, and a few traits about Deaf culture that I had experienced
firsthand, there was so much that I had not considered before the readings and journals for this course
opened my eyes. The Deaf community is a group that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As ASL is a visual language, it is necessary that both of the people move to a different room if they
wish to discuss something in private. Without the readings for this class, most of these social rules
would have been lost on me. One of the biggest changes I have noted in myself in the course of the
semester is how my view of deafness has changed through meeting Deaf people and experiencing
Deaf culture. Prior to this course, or any of my sign language courses, it is safe to say that I would
have considered deafness a disability. It is not to say that I considered Deaf people any less intelligent
or able bodied than those with normal hearing, I certainly did not. If the topic of deafness ever came
up, I mourned for the sense that I considered Deaf people to be deprived of. Having met several Deaf
people now, I understand that even though they cannot hear like the average person, they gained the
support and the culture that comes with involvement in the Deaf community. I am a communication
disorders major at Western Kentucky University, and my hope is to eventually become a speech
language pathologist. When I first started taking ASL classes, it was to not only gain knowledge of a
language I found interesting, but to also aid in my communication skills with others, should I ever

The Four Main Types Of Radiological And Nuclear Terrorism
Describe the four main types of radiological and nuclear terrorism (25 points). The four main types of
radiological and nuclear terrorism are Chemical, Biological, Radiological and nuclear (CBRN)
attacks. These types of attacks can have deadly consequences and significantly impact a country if an
attack is carried out. Not only can causality rates be high, but there can also be significant economic
consequences as well. Chemical attacks involve the use of chemical agents that are man made gases,
liquids, or powders that can have incapacitating or lethal effects on humans. Most chemical weapons
fall into five broad categories: blister, nerve, choking, blood, and incapacitating (Forest Howard,
2013). Chemical agents will vary in their degree of potency and volatility. Depending on how volatile
or potent the agent is, the stronger the effects of agent will be on humans. Biological weapon attacks
involve the intentional release of a pathogen or bio toxin against humans, animals, or plants (Forest
Howard, 2013, pg. 113). Similar to chemical attacks, biological attacks can cause, death, illness, and
societal disruption. Additionally, these attacks can cause widespread economic damage by poisoning
agriculture crops and livestock. Biological attacks can be carried out by dispersing the pathogen
through aerosol mechanisms, food and water supplies, and infected animals. A radiological attack is
the intentional spreading of radioactive material with the intent to do

Analysis Of Waking Sleeping Beauty
Rafiki, the wise baboon from The Lion King, explains to Simba that the past can hurt. But the way I
see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it. Rafiki teaches Simba a valuable lesson: to use other
peoples mistakes to avoid making the same ones; when people reflect on their past and are willing to
confront the mistakes head on, they can be very successful. Waking Sleeping Beauty gives viewers an
inside look from 1984 to 1994 when Disney reached the peak of The Disney Renaissance during this
period of time, Disney produced some of their best animated movies. Although Disney was successful
during this era, it took a lot of work for them to get to that stage. During the late 1960s and early
1970s, Disney was put into shambles due to the death of Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney.
Simultaneously, Disney produced The Black Cauldron which proved to be a failure; not only was it
expensive and made little return, it was beat out in the box office by The Care Bears Movie which was
an embarrassment for Disney Animation Studios. At this point in time Disney was a hopeless,
downwards spiral on its way towards bankruptcy. Disney needed a leader that was willing to take
charge and restore the company to its magical ways and beyond. Ultimately, Waking Sleeping Beauty
answers the following question: After their downfall, how was Disney able to recover and produce
successful movies in the 1980s and 1990s? The documentary has several responses to this question,
but its main focus explains that Disney was able to thrive once again by hiring new personnel in
leadership positions who were willing to lead Disney into The Disney Renaissance . By hiring Frank
Wells as Disney s COO and President, Michael Eisner as CEO and Chairman, and Jeffrey Katzenberg
as head of the film division, Disney was able to begin the transition from their greatest downfall to
their greatest success. These three men were ready to lead the company to avoid the same mistakes it
had made in the past. Although, Disney was looking to hire new leaders to steer the company into the
right direction, they wanted to make sure that the new personnel was qualified and fit for the job.
When it came time to hire Eisner, Schneider, a Disney s first

Research Paper On Taoism
Immortality does not mean living forever in the present physical body. In Taoism, death is just the
final step in achieving complete unity with the universe when Taoist draws closer and closer to nature
throughout their life. Taoism has a goal to raise the immortal practise to a higher level which is
spiritual immortality. To attain it, people have to transform all their qi into primordial qi and proceed
to refine it to subtler levels. This finer qi will eventually turn into pure spirit, with which practitioners
increasingly identify to become transcendent spirit people. To achieve this, intensive meditation and
trance training as well as more radical forms of diet and other longevity practices are needed.
Immortality implies the overcoming of the natural tendencies of the body and its transformation into a
different kind of qi constellation. It is a bypassing of death so that the end of the body has no impact
on the continuation of the spirit person. In addition, practitioners attain super sensory powers and
eventually gain residence in wondrous otherworldly paradises (Kohn 2005).
Taoism is a polytheist religion. Taoists believes that the universe is divided into human being and
gods. The latter is further divided into gods and ghosts. Each kind of god has ... Show more content on

The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures

The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of the
Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The
Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but
eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics
have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the
rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been
lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during
the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers,
artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the
philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived
interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts,
and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Italian
thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the
Renaissance. It was the Florentines who first set out to rediscover the glorious past of these cultures.
They strongly believed

I like almost every Pixar film that s out on film but some are more realistic and relatable
than others. Monster s Inc. is one of my favorites for a couple reasons. Its very realistic to a
certain extent but it lets your adult mind go back for a while. It may even help some adults
understand their child s imagination. The target audience, in my opinion are children but it can
also be for adults. At least the adult would be able to follow and relate to the storyline. This film
connects to its target audience by using colorful scenes and relatable grammar
to the age group watching. A lot of children see the bright pretty colors and want to see more

The Role Of Socialization On Gender Identity
The Influence of Socialization on Gender Identity Gender Role Conformity
As evident from the generalized patterns found in differences in behaviour and outlook observed
between the sexes, it may be tempting, as has been done in the past, to conclude that gender is an
unavoidable aspect of human existence as determined purely from one s genes. Indeed, human
physiology is subject to sexual dimorphism; statistically significant differences in brain size and rate
of maturation of specific substructures in the brain exist between males and females (Giedd,
Castellanos, Rajapakese, Vaituzis, Rapoport, 1997), yet these physical differences fail to explain how
individuals form their concept of their own gender, and why they tend to conform to their perceived
gender roles as defined by the society in which they live, when these roles are ever changing. Thus, it
is important to differentiate between the physical and nonphysical traits, and how the labels of
femininity and masculinity should not confuse the two aspects. As defined by Unger (1979), sex
would be used to refer to the biological differences in males and females, while gender describes
socioculturally determined, nonphysiological traits which are arbitrarily designated as being
appropriate for either females or males. With more recent awareness and interest in matters of gender
nonconformity and individual gender identity, new research now explains how these concepts of
gender are shaped by social influences (Perry

Character Sketch Of Padre Pino
Padre Pio (Francesco Forgione) was destined to Giuseppa and Grazio Forgione, in the little cultivating
town of Pietrelcina, Italy on May 25, 1887. In spite of the fact that the Forgione s were poor in
material products, they were unquestionably rich in their confidence life and in the affection for God.
Indeed, even as a young man, Francesco had just hinted at unprecedented endowments of elegance. At
five years old, he committed his life to God. From his initial adolescence, he demonstrated a
momentous memory of soul and an affection for the religious life. His mom depicted him as a
peaceful kid who, from his most punctual years, wanted to go to chapel and to ask. As a young man,
he could see and speak with, his watchman blessed messenger as well as with Jesus and the Virgin
Mary. In his straightforwardness, Francesco expected everybody had similar encounters. Once a lady
who saw his otherworldly attitude asked him, When did you sanctify your life to God? Was it at your
first Holy Communion? and he replied, Always,Daughter,Always.
At the point when Francesco was fifteen years of age, he was admitted to the novitiate of the Capuchin
Order of the Friars Minor in Morcone, Italy. He was respected by his kindred understudies and in
addition by his Superiors for his model conduct and his profound devotion. One of the beginners

Bridget Jones Character Analysis
Throughout this novel, we see Bridget Jones having a breakdown as she writes her way through her
struggles. In the novel, the quote her nerves are shot to ribbons is used to describe Bridget. This is a
perfect quote to overlook the whole book honestly, because the meaning behind it is that she is either
disappointed or depressed. In most of her situations she never knows what to do. Her mom also
explains that she cannot stand her own problems and tries to solve them through others. This metaphor
is a huge part of this book because it is clear that Bridget has many issues she needs to work out.
The first major aspect in this novel would be the ideal of self perfection. In the article Contextualizing
Bridget Jones it says, Bridget is always trying to better herself with diets, self help books, and other
American pop culture (Marsh, 53) . In the end, she still is not happy with herself. She sees that
American way of how girls should look and feels this need to make all of these changes in her life by
starting a diary that begins with a list of things to better herself . One scene that was ironic was the
fact that after she lost a certain amount of weight she wanted, people said that she had looked better
the other way. Even if she thought she was doing the right thing, whether it was for her or for herself,
her wants/needs still were not met. In this novel we see that she is in a state of being disappointed in
whatever relationship she is dealing with or even herself. As

How Did Artemis Influence Culture
Artemis: An Influence on Culture
You hear the night wind blowing and see the bright shine of the full moon. Walking carefully with
your bow and arrows in hand, you creep up with the rest of the hunters. Drawing your bow, the wolves
get ready to attack, waiting for your signal. Artemis is the goddess of the moon, prophecy, hunters,
virginity, and healing. She leads her pack of immortal hunters, known as the Hunters of Artemis. The
hunters would travel with Artemis through the woods, protecting wild life and hunting. Through this
they helped keep balance like hunters today do. Greek gods and goddesses have greatly influenced our
culture, especially Artemis.

Arthur M. Schlesinger says that Science and technology revolutionize our lives, but memory, tradition,
and myth frame our response. ( Mythology Quotes ) This quote is saying that we use science and
technology to make our lives better, but what we know effects how we accept us. I think this is
backing up the idea that mythology has a great influence on modern culture. We see how Artemis
especially influences culture through her history, allies, enemies, special abilities, and ties to culture.
So, let s go back to our story. You draw your bow, and, shoot. You make your target, a huge monster.
You keep loosing your arrows until it drops dead. You and your hunters go to celebrate the victory. We
see through the Greek myths that tension can be caused by individual differences. This is not only true
for the Greek myths, but it applies to modern life, to our society that we live in. In the myths we saw
that when the tension rose from the individual differences they would fight, and the people with
individual differences would become enemies. These stories can be fun to read, but we need to take
from them that we can t just fight people when the tension rises from differences. We need to settle
our differences, and not become enemies with people. This doesn t mean we have to be best friends
with these people, but they should become our enemies, we need to love everyone, even if they are

Abstract
Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work
and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the
creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate,
mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its
humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise
against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely
sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known
as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to
the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and
influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction
The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the
early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the
telephone nor the automobile nor the printing press has the impact of the internet on the human
civilization as a

Essay On Grendel In Beowulf
Grendel, the offspring of Cain the outcast, is a demon. He is a scaly creature that lives in a swampy
area. He is a reptilian human, with spikes on him. He is a human like figure, in which the way he
stands. He stands on two feet, and has arms. In the book Beowulf removes Grendel s arm and
shoulder, defeating him. This must mean he has a shoulder blade and can walk like a human. He also
has razor sharp talons as it says in the book Venturing closer, his talon was raised to attack Beowulf
where he lay on the bed (Heaney 51). One night when he is prowling around, he hears the King and
his kinsmen singing out to the Lord. He hears the songs of how great God is, and is outraged. As the
outcast of God, Grendel despised of God. The songs and happiness, pushes him over the edge. He
plans the downfall of the hall, in spite of their songs. He will attack at night, as everyone sleeps, and
butcher them dead. He sneaks in at night, watching over the guards, ready to pounce. He rips apart the
men eating them alive. Suddenly then the God cursed brute was creating havoc: greedy and grim, he
grabbed thirty men from their resting place and rushed them to his lair (Heaney 11). This shows just
how When the king awoke the next morning he grieved for his men, but little did he know Grendel

A Study On Corporate Ownership And News Bias
Martin Gilens and Craig Hertzman at Yale University, have conducted a study on the Corporate
ownership and news bias through the newspaper coverage of the 1996 Telecommunication Act
addressing the claim: Financial interests of corporate owners lead America s news bureaus to
downplay the significant issues surrounding the growing concentration of ownership of the country s
mass media (Martin and Hertzman, 2000.) These researchers affirm that it is impossible to think of
any democratic society deprived of the mass media because in such utopist environment the citizens
would miss the information they need to evaluate the desirability or undesirability of public choices
and assess the value of political leaders and social conditions. They state that the essential role of the
press is what leads critics to wonder about the danger derived from the mass media concentration.
Their case study focuses on one part of the 1996 Act that specifically removed restrictions on TV
stations ownership with the result to benefits companies that already owned many TV stations at the
disadvantage of those that did not. They underline that the similarity of interests in the conglomerate
has reduced diversity in the news and enhanced self interest bias. The conclusion of this serious study,
performing multivariate analysis tests, of which the researchers provide exhaustive data, translates to
the relevant issue of a systematically slanted press aimed at improving its own business rather than

A Discussion Of Administrative Law Essay
A Discussion of Administrative Law Congress and the state legislature pass laws that align to the U.S.
Constitution. However, the laws enacted are general provisions that do not explain how they should be

statutes. The rules and regulations established by the agency are known as administrative laws (Walsh,
Maniotis, Kemerer, 2014). Educators must follow the laws passed by the state legislature such as the
Texas Education Code (TEC), which contains numerous guidelines related to the education of our
students (Essex, 2008). Administrative laws impact the daily instruction of the K 12 education system.
Educators must be cognizant of these laws because the laws ensure a successful learning environment
for all students. Moreover, the laws provide guidelines that influence the education of students with
unique needs such as English Learners (ELs).
Administrative Law
Federal Administrative Law At the federal level, the U.S. Department of Education serves as a major
entity for the well being of America s students. The Department of Education (ED) originated in 1867,
to provide an adequate education system by gathering data on schools and teachers. Modifications to
the ED have taken place because of new laws and events that have occurred. In 1980, the U.S.
Congress appointed the ED to take part as a cabinet agency; hence, the ED holds a vital role in the

Kami Is Like Shintoism
Within all religions, there is a belief in beings that live around us and can have the means to answer
certain prayers. Kami is a term used in Shintoism as spirits that live closely with human beings, which
are anything out of the ordinary, awe inspiring, mysterious, powerful, marvelous, and beyond human
control or comprehension. (Brood 318) Kami is often associated with ancestors and loved ones who
have passed on from the world of the living or even evil being who wish to do harm to those still
living. Shintoism states that many of these Kami can have the power to not only alter human events
but can also influence natural forces. Kami when applied to spirits that live in things is a way to attach
a meaning to the word, but it also applies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shinto has no concept of sin, but rather it teaches that evil actions can contaminate individuals by
causing them to accrue impurities that poison innocence and offend the Kami. To rid one s self of
these impurities, Shintoism prescribes ritual washings in natural phenomena like a large source of
flowing water or salt. The symbolism of water recognizes that the purification process is letting the
person previous sins and acts of uncleanliness flow out of their soul and allowing the Kami, in this
case water spirit, to carry it away. The uses of salt could be applied to purify the land before any use
such as agriculture or construction of buildings. The rituals of purification do not apply to only
individuals and groups, but to the christening of new buildings and the start of a new business or a
change in government officials. A high priest, who calls out to the Kami, performs most rituals where
large groups are involved to request the Maiden of the Descent into the Current, Maiden of the Swift
Cleaning, the lord of the Breath blowing place, and the Maiden of Swift Banishment to wash away,
gulp down, blow away, and to abolish away the sins of the group to purify their minds and souls. (The

I am going to compare Patagonia Outdoor Clothing s and Columbia Sportswear s mission statements.
Both of these companies focus provides clothing for the outdoorsman. A mission statement is an
important message from the company to all of their stakeholders. (King D. C., 2012) Patagonia
Outdoor Clothing s mission statement is to build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use
business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis. Columbia Sportswear s
mission statement is to design and deliver authentic, outdoor, high value products for active
consumers of all ages. Both of these mission statements are different but do have ... Show more

This is clearly stated in both of their mission statements, the best product and high value product.
Aside from that, I do not feel that both companies are heading in the same direction. Patagonia
Outdoor Clothing clearly positions itself to consider what effects on the environment they will have in
the future. This is telling both the employees and stakeholders not only are they proving the best
product, they care about the future of the planet and to ensure it will still be here for our family and
friends. Columbia Sportswear does not mention or even elude caring about the environment in their
mission statement.
A company s social responsibility is now a focus not only by investors but to consumers as well.
Social responsibility is for organizations to behave ethically and show consideration regarding social,
cultural, economic and environmental issues. (What is Social Responsibility? Why is it Important,
2008) Patagonia Outdoor Clothing takes this head on. When the company opened its first store in
Boston, Massachusetts all of the employees were experiencing headaches. Upon a thorough
investigation, it was discovered that their inventory of cotton based clothing in the basement was
generating toxic fumes. They used conventional cotton, which is the use of insecticides and other
chemicals to grow the cotton. This incidence led Patagonia Outdoor Clothing switch to the use of only

Meursault s Death
In the novel, The Stranger, by Albert Camus, Meursault s murder of the Arab helps to illuminate the
meaning of the work as a whole. The Stranger tells the story of Meursault, a man who passively lives
his life until he kills a man and is then put on trial and sentenced to death. The murder of the Arab is
the climax of the novel and signals a shift in Meursault s thought and character. Through Meursault s
killing of the Arab, Camus brings attention to the absurdity of social expectations and shows how it is
possible to change from passivity to consciousness in order to give one s life meaning.
Meursault s murder of the Arab highlights the absurdity of societal norms. Meursault has no true
motive for killing the Arab and instead cites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with the death of the Arab, Meursault starts to become aware of his choices and actions.
Although he had no clear reason to kill the Arab, in the death scene, Meursault realizes that he can
either shoot or not shoot, and he chooses the former. This is the first time in the novel Meursault
makes a conscious choice. In Part 1 of the novel, Meursault is simply skimming the surface of his life
with no real emotions or strong feelings. He lives in a daily routine until the murder of the Arab
drastically awakes him. After the death scene, Meursault becomes more aware of the importance of his
choices and how to give his life meaning. He begins to reminisce over memories that give his life
meaning and evaluates his relationship with his mother, Marie, and religion. To Meursault, the sound
of the bullet leaving the gun marks a new beginning, characterized by consciousness and awareness.
Much like Sisyphus, in The Myth of Sisyphus, Meursault is now aware of his burden and his existence
as a result of shooting the Arab. The death scene is the start of Meursault gaining awareness of the

Birth Defects Of Babies Are Serious Functional Or...
Birth defects in babies are serious functional or structural abnormalities that are present at birth in 3%(
approximately 120,000 (Simeone 1104) ) of infants in the United States each year. There are quite a
few different types of defects that you may not even be able to see on the infant at first. It could be
something developmental that will only get worse as they get older. If you believe that birth defects
are only caused by women doing illegal drugs and drinking while pregnant, you re wrong. It could be
a complete genetic disorder that the baby has inherited or a chromosome problem where the baby is
missing even just a part or a whole chromosome and in some cases gains an extra. Sometimes before

It could be very mild and be solved with therapy, or there are some extreme cases that need surgery as
soon as the child is born. Spina Bifida is another common structural defect that is very serious and it
messes with spine. There is a three different types of spina bifida; the first type is Myelomeningocele
which is where the baby s spine doesn t completely close. With this condition, a sac of fluid comes
through an opening in the baby s back. Part of the spinal cord and nerves are in this sac and are
damaged. This type of spina bifida causes moderate to severe disabilities. (CDC) The next type is
meningocele this has some similarities to the first type with the sac but with this the spine isn t in the
sac, this type will only have some minor disabilities. The final type is Spina Bifida Occulta which is
the more mild out of the three. This is where there is only a small gap in the baby s back with no sac.
This is harder to find in infants usually is isn t even discovered until people are young adults, not
many disabilities are caused by this type. There is not only common structural defects, but also
developmental or functional defects. A well known type that affects the nervous system is Down
Syndrome. This is when people either have an extra piece on a chromosome or they have a whole
extra chromosome number 21. It is the most common chromosomal cause of mild to moderate
intellectual disabilities. People

The, The Fundamental Way Of Communication
Introduction
In whole of the animal kingdom, human being s voice is unique and is the fundamental way of
communication. The flexibility of sound production and the range of frequency allow people use their
voice to express their emotions (Chatterjee, 2011). Ageing is the process for each human being to go
through. As we all known, linguistic and acoustic characteristics of children s voice and speech pattern
are quite different from adults. Males and females voices are striking different in pitch. These
differences are mainly caused by differences in the anatomical structures of the larynx, which change
rapidly over time due to individual s growth(Tielen, 1989; Kaur, 2015). Especially during childhood
and adolescence, personal physiology changes quickly and their skill of co articulation also increased
(Kaur, 2015). The larynx and vocal folds do not entirely mature until late adolescence (Mwangi et al.,
2009). In particular, noticeable change related to Hormone occurs among boys. For pre pubertal boys
and girls, their vocal apparatus is almost the same, which means their fundamental frequencies are
entirely similar. During puberty, the changes in the larynx s size and character causes voice cracking
and characteristic pitch breaks. This grows more rapidly and extremely among boys, rather than girls,
due to the inner secretion of sex hormones (Tielen, 1989). After this period, individual s voice might
be stable in several decades (Chatterjee, 2011). While, a significant

Immigration In The 1800 s
Nativists Immigration is something that nativists have been fighting ever since the first ship load of
immigrants came to America. Even today we see the struggle to keep them out of our country,
although the tactics and overall feelings might be a little different today than in the 1800 s. When an
immigrant first arrives to America one of his first priorities is to get a job, and that posed a problem
for the Nativists because the immigrants were working for such low wages that they ending up taking
all the jobs of the Nativists. Another thing that the Nativists had a thought might be a problem was
over crowdedness, with millions of people coming to America they saw growth in cities and in rural
areas. And of course with growth in population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like when immigration first started people still dislike the idea of it and want it to stop. It just so
happens that some of the nativist political parties that were started in the 1800 s gained power and are
still around today fighting to control the war on immigration. Many of the laws that were passed are
still around today. Today since illegal immigration is a big problem they have made a border between
Mexico and America, with very strict border patrol. But for the immigrant who come to America
whether illegal or legal if they want to become a citizen they must pass a test first. In the present
people aren t as worried about immigrants causing unsanitary living or overpopulation as much, now
their main focuses are crime, such as smuggling drugs over the border. Smuggling people into
America and selling them as working slaves. Though, jobs is still a current issue since people can pay
illegals under the table for a lot cheaper than a citizen. Another worry that was not one in the past is
terrorism, when an immigrant sneaks into the US illegally then they are able to do terrorist acts easier.
Because of that security is very strict and many background checks are run before they are allowed to

What Is The Hunger In Nigeria
Jocelyn Bennett
Instructor Williamson
ENG III
8 December 2017
The Hunger in Nigeria The world s hunger is ridiculous. There is more fruit in a rich man s shampoo
than on a poor man s plate (The World S). Nigeria consists of 186 million people and of those 450,000
are malnourished children (Nigeria). A malnourished child is one not receiving the appropriate amount
of nutrients in their system. In America, this can be from eating a substantial amount of unhealthy
food or from not eating enough.. Unfortunately, the situation in Nigeria is strictly not obtaining
enough food or any at all. Nigeria is only one of many that need help in getting food to its people.
Therefore, the number of people with an inadequate amount of food in Nigeria is increasing due to
conflict and needs to be decreased due to it causing a variety of diseases and making it easier for
viruses to spread throughout the country. The question the whole world has been asking is why the
amount of Nigeria s malnourished population has increased. It all begins with a group named Boko
Haram. Boko Haram is a group similar to ISIS and has been capturing multiple cities throughout
Nigeria. The group is making it extremely difficult for the natives to continue their farming, as well as
their everyday life. The Nigerian government has been trying extremely hard to gain control of their
cities once again (Conflict). However, there have been many times where Nigeria was too late. Boko
Haram has harmed and killed over 100,000 people in Borno alone.(Nigeria) The group has managed
to force over two million people to relocate their lives elsewhere within the region of Nigeria. This can
be referred to as internally displacing someone (Tukur). Nigeria has been trying it s hardest to
recapture the sites taken, especially Borno. Unfortunately, Boko Haram hasn t been stopped yet and
the number of malnourished natives is rapidly increasing.
According to Inland Valley Daily, each day, about 29,000 children worldwide die from hunger and
preventable diseases such as malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and acute respiratory infections
(Guerrero). The malnutrition in Nigeria may not seem like such a problem; however, it is a major one.
The Nigerian population cannot grow

The Influences Of C. G. Jung
The Influences of C. G. Jung Carl Gustav Jung II was a psychiatrist whose theories of the mind
challenged the existing dogma. His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche, and
association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert and the
extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many basic
principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were not
conceived without external insight. Social, economic, and cultural influences upon Carl Jung greatly
affected his lifetime achievements and provided inspiration for many of his theories. Born Carl Gustav
Jung II on July 26, 1875, to Emilie Preiswerk and the pastor Paul Jung in Kesswil, Switzerland, he
was not without a notable ancestral background. Jung s paternal grandfather, Dr. Med. Karl Gustav
Jung I, an expatriate from Germany who engaged in liberal political agitation, drew fame to himself
upon moving to Switzerland when he reformed the University of Basel, established moderate wealth,
and participated in local government. (Bair 7 8). Carl Jung s maternity was no less distinguished in its
own right; both of Emilie Preiswerk s parents were favorably regarded in their own community,
though both were intensely superstitious, ascribing mystical causes to their frequent visions, which
were peculiar to the Preiswerk family. The hereditary nature of these visions accounts for a set of Jung

  • 3. Evaluation Of The Research And Creative Work UROP Application Spring 2016 Christopher Jones Mentor: Trafton Drew Department of Psychology Statement of the Problem/Topic of the Research or Creative Work Visual Search is important in our everyday lives, and search relies on cues from the environment and uses object similarity to guide search. While much research has been done to see how visual similarity between objects affects visual search (Duncan and Humphreys 1989), very little research has been done to see how different types of similarity between objects compare in their effects on visual search. Specifically the proposed project would investigate how semantic similarity and visual similarity influence visual search using real world objects. The usage of real world objects is important because many laboratory visual search tasks are not reflective of visual search in a real world setting. Neural measures gathered from EEG (Electroencephalogram) data in the form of ERP (Event Related Potential) components can be used to measure onset of attentional processing, as well as how distracting certain objects may or may not be. Specifically the N2PC reflects a shift in attention to a visual target. Using this ERP component, the neural differences between visual and semantic similarity in objects can be evaluated and compared between participants. While research shows there is a behavioral effect between visual and semantic similarity among distractors in visual search (De Groot, Huettig, and Olivers 2016), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Animal And Non Infectious Diseases Until the last half of the 20th century, the emphasis of veterinary medicine had been on the treatment of individual animals with clearly identifiable diseases or defects. Apart from immunization against rabies and prophylactic treatment of internal parasites, restricted attention had been given to animal health and comprehensive preventive medicine, which give proper consideration to both infectious and non infectious diseases. Currently, the nature of traditional clinical practice is changing in all developing and developed countries. The pet owners are better educated, and the value of individual animals relative to veterinary fees has decreased. It is imperative to develop pet animal health programmes designed to prevent infectious diseases, rather than just dispensing traditional treatment to clinically sick animals. Due to the vast demographic changes in India, pet animal populations have increased above 10 millions within 2002 2012. Thus as a part of pet animal welfare, preventive measures for infectious diseases like vaccination against parvoviral enteritis, canine distemper, leptospirosis, infectious canine hepatitis, parainfluenza, kennel cough etc; deworming schedule for parasitic diseases like ancylostomiosis, toxocarosis etc; grooming practices to avoid skin problems and ectoparasites for control of hemoprotozoan diseases like babesiosis, ehrlichiosis etc.; hygenic measures are to be carried out which is now practiced up to an extend in cities but rare in rural ... • 6. Sophocles Oedipus The King The renowned Greek philosopher, Aristotle, is widely known for his theories in mathematics, physics, and politics. However, he is also known for establishing ideas in the field of literature, such as the concept of tragedy and the theory of the importance of scenes of recognition and reversal. This ancient concept and theory are still highly discussed and used to analyze numerous pieces of literature to this day. One piece that could be considered as an ideal tragedy is the play Oedipus the King written by Sophocles. In this play, Sophocles utilizes the concept of tragedy as well the theory of the importance of scenes of recognition and reversal to create a setting, tone, and mood throughout the play. Oedipus, the mythical king of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of the use of fear to bring emotion to the reader in Oedipus the King is when the city of Thebes is suffering from a plague that destroys fields of crops as well as the fertility of its woman. A blight is on the fruitful plants of the earth, a blight is on the cattle in the fields, a blight is on our women that no children are born to them; a God that carries fire, a deadly pestilence, is on our town (Sophocles 26 30). At the beginning of the play when Oedipus is asking the people of Thebes why they are sitting in front of his palace, a Priest explains that there is a plague going on in the city and they want an end to it. It is later known that the plague will never end until the murderer of Laius, the king of Thebes before Oedipus, is found. Oedipus vows to find the murderer, which eventually leads to him finding out he was the one who killed his father and married his own mother, thus fulfilling his fate. This extracts pity from the reader, for all the character tried their hardest to run from the prophecy but in the end, it still catches them. Lastly, tragedy can be seen throughout the entire play, as readers see the steady downfall of a hero, who was heavily influenced by his hubris or pride. Aristotle s ideal tragic hero is one the must exceed the average man intellectually, physically and mentally. Oedipus not only travels throughout the city defeating numerous foes, but eventually becomes the king of Thebes. Not only that, according to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of us watch videos on youtube weekly if not daily. It is playing an important role in defining todays pop culture. This famous website was created by three friends: Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. At first, they came up with an idea of creating a website called HotOrNot, where people get to upload their videos and the viewers would then decide whether they were hot or not. • 8. The Deaf Community and Its Culture During registration last semester, when I decided to take this course to see if I wanted to continue onward with ASL as my minor, I was not sure what to expect. Through my brief introduction of Deaf culture during my first sign language courses, I knew some vague details about historical events. Gallaudet had been mentioned several times within not only my workbook, but also by my professor. I could have given you a short synopsis of the oral movement that threatened to wipe ASL out as a language. Though I knew these facts, and a few traits about Deaf culture that I had experienced firsthand, there was so much that I had not considered before the readings and journals for this course opened my eyes. The Deaf community is a group that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As ASL is a visual language, it is necessary that both of the people move to a different room if they wish to discuss something in private. Without the readings for this class, most of these social rules would have been lost on me. One of the biggest changes I have noted in myself in the course of the semester is how my view of deafness has changed through meeting Deaf people and experiencing Deaf culture. Prior to this course, or any of my sign language courses, it is safe to say that I would have considered deafness a disability. It is not to say that I considered Deaf people any less intelligent or able bodied than those with normal hearing, I certainly did not. If the topic of deafness ever came up, I mourned for the sense that I considered Deaf people to be deprived of. Having met several Deaf people now, I understand that even though they cannot hear like the average person, they gained the support and the culture that comes with involvement in the Deaf community. I am a communication disorders major at Western Kentucky University, and my hope is to eventually become a speech language pathologist. When I first started taking ASL classes, it was to not only gain knowledge of a language I found interesting, but to also aid in my communication skills with others, should I ever meet Deaf people either at work or in my free ... • 9. The Four Main Types Of Radiological And Nuclear Terrorism Describe the four main types of radiological and nuclear terrorism (25 points). The four main types of radiological and nuclear terrorism are Chemical, Biological, Radiological and nuclear (CBRN) attacks. These types of attacks can have deadly consequences and significantly impact a country if an attack is carried out. Not only can causality rates be high, but there can also be significant economic consequences as well. Chemical attacks involve the use of chemical agents that are man made gases, liquids, or powders that can have incapacitating or lethal effects on humans. Most chemical weapons fall into five broad categories: blister, nerve, choking, blood, and incapacitating (Forest Howard, 2013). Chemical agents will vary in their degree of potency and volatility. Depending on how volatile or potent the agent is, the stronger the effects of agent will be on humans. Biological weapon attacks involve the intentional release of a pathogen or bio toxin against humans, animals, or plants (Forest Howard, 2013, pg. 113). Similar to chemical attacks, biological attacks can cause, death, illness, and societal disruption. Additionally, these attacks can cause widespread economic damage by poisoning agriculture crops and livestock. Biological attacks can be carried out by dispersing the pathogen through aerosol mechanisms, food and water supplies, and infected animals. A radiological attack is the intentional spreading of radioactive material with the intent to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Analysis Of Waking Sleeping Beauty Rafiki, the wise baboon from The Lion King, explains to Simba that the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it. Rafiki teaches Simba a valuable lesson: to use other peoples mistakes to avoid making the same ones; when people reflect on their past and are willing to confront the mistakes head on, they can be very successful. Waking Sleeping Beauty gives viewers an inside look from 1984 to 1994 when Disney reached the peak of The Disney Renaissance during this period of time, Disney produced some of their best animated movies. Although Disney was successful during this era, it took a lot of work for them to get to that stage. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Disney was put into shambles due to the death of Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney. Simultaneously, Disney produced The Black Cauldron which proved to be a failure; not only was it expensive and made little return, it was beat out in the box office by The Care Bears Movie which was an embarrassment for Disney Animation Studios. At this point in time Disney was a hopeless, downwards spiral on its way towards bankruptcy. Disney needed a leader that was willing to take charge and restore the company to its magical ways and beyond. Ultimately, Waking Sleeping Beauty answers the following question: After their downfall, how was Disney able to recover and produce successful movies in the 1980s and 1990s? The documentary has several responses to this question, but its main focus explains that Disney was able to thrive once again by hiring new personnel in leadership positions who were willing to lead Disney into The Disney Renaissance . By hiring Frank Wells as Disney s COO and President, Michael Eisner as CEO and Chairman, and Jeffrey Katzenberg as head of the film division, Disney was able to begin the transition from their greatest downfall to their greatest success. These three men were ready to lead the company to avoid the same mistakes it had made in the past. Although, Disney was looking to hire new leaders to steer the company into the right direction, they wanted to make sure that the new personnel was qualified and fit for the job. • 12. Research Paper On Taoism Immortality does not mean living forever in the present physical body. In Taoism, death is just the final step in achieving complete unity with the universe when Taoist draws closer and closer to nature throughout their life. Taoism has a goal to raise the immortal practise to a higher level which is spiritual immortality. To attain it, people have to transform all their qi into primordial qi and proceed to refine it to subtler levels. This finer qi will eventually turn into pure spirit, with which practitioners increasingly identify to become transcendent spirit people. To achieve this, intensive meditation and trance training as well as more radical forms of diet and other longevity practices are needed. Immortality implies the overcoming of the natural tendencies of the body and its transformation into a different kind of qi constellation. It is a bypassing of death so that the end of the body has no impact on the continuation of the spirit person. In addition, practitioners attain super sensory powers and eventually gain residence in wondrous otherworldly paradises (Kohn 2005). Taoism is a polytheist religion. • 13. The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures Teresa Fang Professor Moore Humanities 310 25 November 2015 The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of the Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Italian thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the Renaissance. It was the Florentines who first set out to rediscover the glorious past of these cultures. They strongly believed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monster s Inc. is one of my favorites for a couple reasons. Its very realistic to a certain extent but it lets your adult mind go back for a while. It may even help some adults understand their child s imagination. The target audience, in my opinion are children but it can also be for adults. At least the adult would be able to follow and relate to the storyline. This film connects to its target audience by using colorful scenes and relatable grammar to the age group watching. A lot of children see the bright pretty colors and want to see more The different characters with life like features and ways are also eye catching. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Role Of Socialization On Gender Identity The Influence of Socialization on Gender Identity Gender Role Conformity As evident from the generalized patterns found in differences in behaviour and outlook observed between the sexes, it may be tempting, as has been done in the past, to conclude that gender is an unavoidable aspect of human existence as determined purely from one s genes. Indeed, human physiology is subject to sexual dimorphism; statistically significant differences in brain size and rate of maturation of specific substructures in the brain exist between males and females (Giedd, Castellanos, Rajapakese, Vaituzis, Rapoport, 1997), yet these physical differences fail to explain how individuals form their concept of their own gender, and why they tend to conform to their perceived gender roles as defined by the society in which they live, when these roles are ever changing. Thus, it is important to differentiate between the physical and nonphysical traits, and how the labels of femininity and masculinity should not confuse the two aspects. As defined by Unger (1979), sex would be used to refer to the biological differences in males and females, while gender describes socioculturally determined, nonphysiological traits which are arbitrarily designated as being appropriate for either females or males. With more recent awareness and interest in matters of gender nonconformity and individual gender identity, new research now explains how these concepts of gender are shaped by social influences (Perry ... In spite of the fact that the Forgione s were poor in material products, they were unquestionably rich in their confidence life and in the affection for God. Indeed, even as a young man, Francesco had just hinted at unprecedented endowments of elegance. At five years old, he committed his life to God. From his initial adolescence, he demonstrated a momentous memory of soul and an affection for the religious life. His mom depicted him as a peaceful kid who, from his most punctual years, wanted to go to chapel and to ask. As a young man, he could see and speak with, his watchman blessed messenger as well as with Jesus and the Virgin Mary. In his straightforwardness, Francesco expected everybody had similar encounters. Once a lady who saw his otherworldly attitude asked him, When did you sanctify your life to God? Was it at your first Holy Communion? and he replied, Always,Daughter,Always. At the point when Francesco was fifteen years of age, he was admitted to the novitiate of the Capuchin Order of the Friars Minor in Morcone, Italy. • 17. Bridget Jones Character Analysis Throughout this novel, we see Bridget Jones having a breakdown as she writes her way through her struggles. In the novel, the quote her nerves are shot to ribbons is used to describe Bridget. This is a perfect quote to overlook the whole book honestly, because the meaning behind it is that she is either disappointed or depressed. In most of her situations she never knows what to do. Her mom also explains that she cannot stand her own problems and tries to solve them through others. This metaphor is a huge part of this book because it is clear that Bridget has many issues she needs to work out. The first major aspect in this novel would be the ideal of self perfection. In the article Contextualizing Bridget Jones it says, Bridget is always trying to better herself with diets, self help books, and other American pop culture (Marsh, 53) . In the end, she still is not happy with herself. She sees that American way of how girls should look and feels this need to make all of these changes in her life by starting a diary that begins with a list of things to better herself . One scene that was ironic was the fact that after she lost a certain amount of weight she wanted, people said that she had looked better the other way. Even if she thought she was doing the right thing, whether it was for her or for herself, her wants/needs still were not met. In this novel we see that she is in a state of being disappointed in whatever relationship she is dealing with or even herself. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Walking carefully with your bow and arrows in hand, you creep up with the rest of the hunters. Drawing your bow, the wolves get ready to attack, waiting for your signal. Artemis is the goddess of the moon, prophecy, hunters, virginity, and healing. She leads her pack of immortal hunters, known as the Hunters of Artemis. The hunters would travel with Artemis through the woods, protecting wild life and hunting. Through this they helped keep balance like hunters today do. ( Mythology Quotes ) This quote is saying that we use science and technology to make our lives better, but what we know effects how we accept us. I think this is backing up the idea that mythology has a great influence on modern culture. We see how Artemis especially influences culture through her history, allies, enemies, special abilities, and ties to culture. So, let s go back to our story. You draw your bow, and, shoot. You make your target, a huge monster. You keep loosing your arrows until it drops dead. You and your hunters go to celebrate the victory. We see through the Greek myths that tension can be caused by individual differences. This is not only true for the Greek myths, but it applies to modern life, to our society that we live in. In the myths we saw that when the tension rose from the individual differences they would fight, and the people with individual differences would become enemies. These stories can be fun to read, but we need to take from them that we can t just fight people when the tension rises from differences. We need to settle our differences, and not become enemies with people. This doesn t mean we have to be best friends with these people, but they should become our enemies, we need to love everyone, even if they are different from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Internet Of Things The Revolutionary Creation The Liberation Of The World Wide Web Gary Kwong 8/11/2014 Dr. Michael Jones CIS 206 Business Software Applications Abstract Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the telephone nor the automobile nor the printing press has the impact of the internet on the human civilization as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These researchers affirm that it is impossible to think of any democratic society deprived of the mass media because in such utopist environment the citizens would miss the information they need to evaluate the desirability or undesirability of public choices and assess the value of political leaders and social conditions. They state that the essential role of the press is what leads critics to wonder about the danger derived from the mass media concentration. Their case study focuses on one part of the 1996 Act that specifically removed restrictions on TV stations ownership with the result to benefits companies that already owned many TV stations at the disadvantage of those that did not. They underline that the similarity of interests in the conglomerate has reduced diversity in the news and enhanced self interest bias. However, the laws enacted are general provisions that do not explain how they should be utilized. Consequently, federal, state, and local agencies must define the policies and regulations of the statutes. The rules and regulations established by the agency are known as administrative laws (Walsh, Maniotis, Kemerer, 2014). Educators must follow the laws passed by the state legislature such as the Texas Education Code (TEC), which contains numerous guidelines related to the education of our students (Essex, 2008). Administrative laws impact the daily instruction of the K 12 education system. Educators must be cognizant of these laws because the laws ensure a successful learning environment for all students. The symbolism of water recognizes that the purification process is letting the person previous sins and acts of uncleanliness flow out of their soul and allowing the Kami, in this case water spirit, to carry it away. The uses of salt could be applied to purify the land before any use such as agriculture or construction of buildings. The flexibility of sound production and the range of frequency allow people use their voice to express their emotions (Chatterjee, 2011). Ageing is the process for each human being to go through. As we all known, linguistic and acoustic characteristics of children s voice and speech pattern are quite different from adults. Males and females voices are striking different in pitch. These differences are mainly caused by differences in the anatomical structures of the larynx, which change rapidly over time due to individual s growth(Tielen, 1989; Kaur, 2015). Especially during childhood and adolescence, personal physiology changes quickly and their skill of co articulation also increased (Kaur, 2015). The larynx and vocal folds do not entirely mature until late adolescence (Mwangi et al., 2009). In particular, noticeable change related to Hormone occurs among boys. For pre pubertal boys and girls, their vocal apparatus is almost the same, which means their fundamental frequencies are entirely similar. During puberty, the changes in the larynx s size and character causes voice cracking and characteristic pitch breaks. This grows more rapidly and extremely among boys, rather than girls, due to the inner secretion of sex hormones (Tielen, 1989). After this period, individual s voice might be stable in several decades (Chatterjee, 2011). While, a significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is more fruit in a rich man s shampoo than on a poor man s plate (The World S). Nigeria consists of 186 million people and of those 450,000 are malnourished children (Nigeria). A malnourished child is one not receiving the appropriate amount of nutrients in their system. In America, this can be from eating a substantial amount of unhealthy food or from not eating enough.. Unfortunately, the situation in Nigeria is strictly not obtaining enough food or any at all. Nigeria is only one of many that need help in getting food to its people. Therefore, the number of people with an inadequate amount of food in Nigeria is increasing due to conflict and needs to be decreased due to it causing a variety of diseases and making it easier for viruses to spread throughout the country. The question the whole world has been asking is why the amount of Nigeria s malnourished population has increased. It all begins with a group named Boko Haram. Boko Haram is a group similar to ISIS and has been capturing multiple cities throughout Nigeria. The group is making it extremely difficult for the natives to continue their farming, as well as their everyday life. The Nigerian government has been trying extremely hard to gain control of their cities once again (Conflict). However, there have been many times where Nigeria was too late. Boko Haram has harmed and killed over 100,000 people in Borno alone.(Nigeria) The group has managed to force over two million people to relocate their lives elsewhere within the region of Nigeria. This can be referred to as internally displacing someone (Tukur). Nigeria has been trying it s hardest to recapture the sites taken, especially Borno. Unfortunately, Boko Haram hasn t been stopped yet and the number of malnourished natives is rapidly increasing. According to Inland Valley Daily, each day, about 29,000 children worldwide die from hunger and preventable diseases such as malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and acute respiratory infections (Guerrero). His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche, and association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert and the extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many basic principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were not conceived without external insight.
