Josh Mcdowell Research Paper
Josh McDowell
In 1939, Josh McDowell was born in Union City, Michigan. He grew up with an abusive father and
was sexually abused from age six to thirteen. Josh McDowell thought of himself as an agnostic and
thought Christianity is worthless. He always wondered: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I
going? At community college, he was challenged by his friends to write a paper to disprove the
existence of Christianity. It started when he saw his friends were always happy and joyful. Josh really
wanted the inner joy this group contained. He always believed that Christianity was weak and couldn t
be argued, but after research, he discovered the faith of Christianity and trusted Jesus Christ as his
Lord and Savior. Once accepting Jesus Christ into his life he changed for the better. He ... Show more

These accomplishments still haven t stopped Josh. In 1960 he has written 147 books in over one

when he discovered the real truths about the New and Old Testament, in college. New Evidence That
Demands a Verdict was named twentieth century s top forty books and one of the thirteen most
influential books on Christianity thought by World Magazine. Josh was also nominated thirty six times
and received the Gold Medallion award four times. In the midst of spreading God s word, his greatest

Benefits of Artificial Reefs Essay
Thesis: When an artificial reef is made many just see trash going into the sea, however there are
positive benefits that come from the making of the reef.
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of an artificial reef is the creation of a new community for aquatic
creatures to live. It is like a developer going out to sea and making a new subdivision out there for
fish. This creation of an artificial reef is the most natural way to protect the marine habitat, by
providing shelter, a source of food, and an area for mating and reproduction for a numerous amount of
creatures. The reason this is so important is because a given area of water can only support so many
marine creatures, none of these creatures can live in mid water where there is ... Show more content

The majority of this revenue is created by the tourism that these reefs create. If you don t know much
about diving here is a figure that will help you, a large percentage of all the tourism industries revenue
is from these people diving. When these sites are created this is exactly what they have in mind,
attracting thousands of divers to these easily accessible sites. These divers come to see these reefs
because the sites are known locations and the organisms growing on and the ecosystem around it is a
beautiful site that is a joy to partake in. As a matter of fact the view is so spectacular that today the
sale of underwater cameras far exceeds the sale of spear guns, which creates even more revenue for
local dive shops. This is why divers travel around the world to get a look at these sites. When these
divers come into town this is where the revenue comes in from anything such as boat tours/charters,
hotel stays, food consumption, and equipment. Many companies have keyed into this market and have
started making their own natural reefs. These companies have used them for everything from
submarine tours to burial sites for the deceased ashes. Don t forget about the fishermen, whom are also
getting wealthy due to the reefs. The fish swarm to these areas now, so the fishermen know exactly
where to fish and fill their boats up. All of these reasons can bring in anywhere from fifty to ninety

The Challenges Of Virtual Team Collaboration
The challenges of virtual team collaboration are numerous and significant. However, several
organizational best practices exist, which companies can employ to maximize virtual team
development and collaboration. By applying these practices, organizations can overcome virtual team
challenges, such as time, distance, size, diversity, communication, and specialization. The
organizational best practices fall into four primary categories, namely Executive support, HR
Practices, Leadership Strength, and Team Structure (Gratton Erickson, 2007).
Executive Support: Investing in Signature relationship practices
The success or failure of virtual team collaboration in organizations is often reflected in the
philosophies and support of its executives. For example, when company executives demonstrate
collaborative behaviors and create collaborative environments where social interactions thrive, virtual
team collaboration also thrives. Executives achieve this by establishing, encouraging, and maintaining
strong social interactions throughout the organization. These practices are often tailored to the unique
culture of the organization and are effective because of its unique signature or fit to the organization.
By investing in signature relationship practices, executives can encourage collaboration across the
organization (Gratton Erickson, 2007).
Executive Support: Modeling collaborative behavior
Executives can also influence virtual team development through their actions and

Emily Rose Religion
The benefits that religion and spirituality provide in recovery and psychotherapeutic support are
exponential (Bradshaw et. al). It is one of the reasons the correlation between religious mindset and
mental health continues to draw scholarly attention. Another confounding variable is that there is little
cultural separation between spiritual guidance and psychotherapy. Most Catholic Priest s come
equipped with undergraduate and seminary work, the minimum requirement to perform basic
counseling in most states. Gettis, a psychiatrist and scholar, postulates that both priest and
psychotherapists are mutual socially sanctioned healers drawn together by the belief that they possess
healing power (Gettis 188). Alternatively, religion can also induce feelings of shame and bare negative
effects on one s mental health (Keks et.al). The Exorcism of Emily Rose utilized this theme to
confound audience s perceptions of religion. In life, most of whom we ... Show more content on

Instead, her story unfolds through the various perceptions of individuals ranging from her family, her

bright courtroom (a place of facts) to a landscape filled with dark overtones, where we wittiness

demonic possession the lighting is dark. A symbolic feature selected to exhibit not only the torment
Emily was going through, but the absence of actual truth. The various shades of light and dark used in
the film supports the idea of how non religious society approaches the idea of possession and
exorcism. To this cultural group, the idea of demonic or spiritual possession is abnormal. As is the idea
of exorcism as a curative

John Locke Unspoken Contract Essay

Option #1
The Unspoken/Unwritten contract of Mankind
Is there an unwritten rule or acknowledgement between mankind in which we have agreed to a
disproportionate and unequal amount of earthly possessions? Or have we been coerced by our
ancestors through rules and laws of society that have been forgotten through time? John Locke a
rational and just man who usually battles his arguments with morals and logic speaks in his treatise
chapter V about God. John Locke opens the chapter speaking about equality and that God gave the
earth to the children of man therefore no one was granted more than the other. Locke took his stance
on the appropriation of lands and earthly possessions. Locke proposed the theory of labor. Locke s ...

Claiming that it is acceptable to own more than one s labor can service as long as that perishable is
bartered for money (non perishable). Like this, Locke realizes the unspoken contract between
mankind. Indeed one can have a disproportionate and unequal possession of the earth by agreeing to
use gold and silver. Since everyone agrees to use currency inequality becomes fair and just due to the
fact that a man s worth is determined by his labor. Locke believed that bartering for goods with money
was presumably prejudiced, and voluntary because both sides would have something to gain. A
famous saying silence is consent has also lead me to believe that throughout time some became more
entitled to more than others. With a vast quantity of land per capita some found themselves acquiring
more just because they could. Others allowed it therefore if it was accepted.
But many questions are still unanswered. If we can accumulate as much money without causing others
poverty are those who are poor entitled to my money? According to Locke s view if we did not cause
that persons poverty we are not responsible for their suffering. A catch 22 indeed though we did not
cause the persons suffering, it is the same that we did nothing to stop it. This is a question of ethics
John Locke overlooked. It is a question of ethic though helping a person who is in need can be
debatable, is helping a person who is condemned to death by hunger

Essay on The Arabic Invasion
Early history of Islam is marked by a remarkable political will to consolidate the fragmented tribes of
the Arabian Peninsula. Accordingly, it emerged a unified polity and administration, first under Prophet
Muhammad and then the first Caliph Abu Bakr that set the stage for the early Arab conquests. The
conquests continued unabated during the reigns of Caliphs Omar and Othman, and then by the
Umayyads and the Abbasids and other Muslim dynasties that established strong centers of power in
the world. By the 11th century AD, the Islamic society could boast of a number of cultural and
technical centers of leaning with eminent scholars of all the known disciplines of the time. Thus, when
the Arab Islamic armies invaded distant lands, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Church was also vibrant but largely in acquiring lands for donor s salvation, to the extent that by
the end of Carolingian era, over one third of the land of Gaul belonged to the church. The Arabic
culture, politics, and economy influenced Europe tremendously. The Arabic conquest of Spain shows a
great example for its succession. The kingdom of Al Andalus displayed political centralism; it became
an important location for trade It is also true that conquering armies too are affected by the culture of
the conquered lands. The Abbasid period also witnessed the Muslim Agriculture Revolution and the
Scientific Revolution during the reigns of al Mansur 9754 775, Harun Al Rashid 786 809 and Al
Mamun 809 813.Thus, when Crete was conquered in 827 AD, the Arab civilization was surely at its
peak.
Initially, indeed, the Arab society was not an ideal social and cultural set up and the Muslims were
aware of the fact that contemporary civilizations are far superior. To fulfill the requirements of a
developing intercontinental empire they adapted at a large scale. They tried and benefitted liberally
from Babylonian, Hellenic, Roman, Persian, Indian and Egyptian civilizations. The rich heritage thus
gathered was judged and reinterpreted in the light of contemporary demand and they never shied away
from experimenting and upgrading. They updated math to calculate inheritance and taxes, made

Essay on Pros and Cons of the Atkins and South Beach Diets
Pros and Cons of the Atkins and South Beach Diets
People consider many factors when choosing a diet: what best suites their needs, how it fits with their
body type, and what the diet entails, are all aspects taken into account. The Atkins and South Beach
diets are plans that take different approaches in style but end up having similar results in the end.
Atkins serves to eliminate carbohydrates and focus on more protein enriched foods; this idea sells
because it offers a way to lose weight fast. The South Beach diet on the other hand is a method that
takes a more balanced approach; it aims to teach people about the good carbohydrates and the good
fats versus the bad. Because these diets have both pros and cons, it ... Show more content on

This idea is one of many involving the pros and cons of the Atkins plan in comparison to diets similar
to it.
Another reason why so many people choose the Atkins plan is because dieters are allowed to consume
good tasting, fatty foods, during the induction phase of the diet. However, as tempting as these food
options may be, the end result shows an increase in cholesterol that is proven to have a negative effect
on the heart and body as a whole. Furthermore, another aspect of the Atkins diet is the fact that it is
proven to generate weight loss, however, the drawback is that the loss is only for a short amount of
time, and not easily maintained. The likelihood of losing the weight and keeping it off is something
that researchers are still trying to show as a possibility (Harper, 1). But there are alternatives to the
Atkins plan, the most common of which is Dr. Arthur Agatston s South Beach diet. While Atkins
serves to eliminate almost all carbohydrates and replace them with foods high in fat, the South Beach
diet attempts to simply teach people how to eat the good carbohydrates and fats, and eliminate the bad.
Not only does Dr. Agatston want to teach people the correct way to eat, he also reinstates the
importance of exercise intermixed with a healthy food regimen. Similar to the Atkins diet, South
Beach starts with a two week induction phase where

Relationships Between Western And Western Culture
Intertextual relationships between texts exist to influence a reader s perception and add layers of depth
to the texts meanings resulting in a heightened experience and a more significant comprehension of
the texts ideas. Detecting such intertextual relationships between two wildly different texts; Walt
Disney s 1994 animated musical epic, The Lion King, and Studio Gainax s 2007 animated mecha
television series, Gurren Lagann, has enriched my understanding of the differences between the texts

Both the two texts follow the The Hero s Journey story structure (also known as a monomyth),
featuring the distinct departure, initiation and return phases and many of the twelve steps associated,
thereby establishing an intertextual link. Both main characters embark on a journey, witness the death
of a significant role model, mature as they encounter various trials and triumph over their enemies,
transforming into adults throughout the process. The Lion King s story of Simba s rise to succeed his
father as king reflects western attitudes towards growing up and how maturing from a child into an
adult is perceived: meeting the expectations of family and society, and accepting the responsibilities
associated with adulthood. Unlike The Lion King where the film ends when the protagonist, Simba,
has matured into an adult, Gurren Lagann follows its protagonist, Simon, throughout his entire life
detailing phases of growth a person experiences. Following his story well beyond having matured into
an adult, the show proceeds beyond his first major victory and shows his struggles against an unideal
future. This continuation and expansion of the story beyond adulthood represents the eastern cultural
attitude towards growing up that suggests a person s growth doesn t end at adulthood but

leadership competencies that are important for athletic training practice and education. The study

The Theory Of Management And The Scientific Management...
Theories of management date back to the beginning of times. Every aspect of life contains some form
of management. From managing oneself, to managing employees, to managing an entire corporation,
management is a key part of life. Over time different theories have been developed and have evolved.
Some of the first theories ever explored include the administrative management theory and the
scientific management theory. While both of these theories were studied in depth, I believe that one of
the greatest theories to ever arise deprived from the Neoclassical Theory of Management, the Human
Relations Theory. As previously mentioned, the Human Relations Theory was part of a larger
movement called the Neoclassical Theory of Management and was created to provide a new
environment and approach to employees in their workplace. Its origins date back to the early 1920 s
from a man by the name of Professor Elton Mayo, who began to start the research that would later
bring the Human Relations Theory into play (Perry,Gail).
The Human Relations theory focused more on human relations and their environment as opposed to
previous theories that focused on treating employees more as just an extension of a factory machine.
Before this revolution classical management theorist such as Fredrick Taylor, and Henry Gantt, Frank
and Lillian Gilbreth used a majority of their resources studying exactly how a job was done. They
wanted to find the quickest route of using employees to achieve an end

After the remembrance of how he was undressed, the speaker describes how Aunt Frieda would
undress herself. Frieda undressed herself in her younger days. Her slow removal of clothes seemed
like seduction. To the narrator, Frieda undressing herself represented a time of health, independence
and youth, I try to imagine her healthy, undressing herself (12). The speaker then remembers how her
aunt s body looked naked. She was a petite girl whose body had flaws. Her marks represent the tough
times Frieda had growing up. The poem eludes that it was her inner beauty that stands out. It mentions
two seventeenth century artists, Rubens and Rembrandt, who have different styles of work. I
researched their work and found that Rubens is known for his very sensual and elegant work. In
contrast, Rembrandt portrayed tragedy especially in his old age. Aunt Frieda s life was not always
glorious, and she endured many tough times. whose scarred beauty Ruben would surely have missed,/
but Rembrandt, in the loneliness of his dying days,/ might have been immortalized (16 18). The poem
begins to wind down with the undressing of the newest generation, the daughter. Just like her dad used

Comparing Berger And Luckmann
Traditional economics bases human decisions off of price and income; however, Berger and
Luckmann differentiate their theory by utilizing social construction to explain behavior. At the most
basic level, Berger and Luckmann view man as homo socius, individuals influenced and molded by
their social surroundings into the person that they are. Humans come to understand their personal
reality through socialization as it provides them with their own meanings of themselves and the world
that they are in. Two main types of socialization function to form humans in this model: primary
socialization, which begins at birth and develops as the core of one s self and secondary socialization,
which occurs after primary socialization from the accrual of information ... Show more content on

Habitualization allows an everyday act to become engrained into reality and require less effort as it
becomes increasingly fortified in daily life. Narrowed choices simplify decision making and generate
a stable foundation that allows people to make larger decisions without worrying about the less
important ones. Since all human activity can be habitualized, each individual will develop different
habits based off of their own daily routines. For instance, if Starbucks is directly on my way to class
and I have been socialized to enjoy drinking coffee, I begin to stop in at Starbucks increasingly more
before class. With repetition, this activity becomes solidified as a part of my daily routine and takes
less effort to decide whether I want to stop at Starbucks or suffer through my class under caffeinated.
Eventually, when both actors reciprocally typify habitualizations, these actions become
institutionalized. Typification is the process we undergo to create standard social constructions based
on the standard assumptions we share. Actors typify interactions between individuals, externalizing
their own subjective ideas and making them more concrete as they now become objective to the other
actors. Typically, these institutions are considered to be obvious social structures such as family or
government, however, they can even be extended to my Starbucks example. My role as the customer
is buying coffee, while the employee s role is providing service. This action becomes typified by us
and replicated by others, forming an institution of social construction; as the subjective memory of the
actions fades, they become the natural order of things. As institutions form, they guide human
behavior as an objective facilitator of activity in our

How The Kinkajou Is A Relative Of The Raccoon And Lives
The kinkajou is a relative of the raccoon and lives in tropical forests or Central and South America

kinkajous are larger. Color morphs have been observed in different regions (Animal Diversity Web).
Their tails are like another arm, it helps them balance and use their tail to hang from trees and as cozy

The European colonization was a period in history when European countries such as Britain rapidly
took over and colonized many parts of the world which led to trade and interaction between different
peoples. Throughout the centuries of European control much advancement has been made in
transportation, communication and technology. In particular, the printing press, which was created
around the 1500 s was a printing medium used to copy text. The printing press was slow to develop,
but it gradually initiated one of the first technological advancements which spread throughout
European cities and countries. This meant that with more printing presses being made there were more
copies of texts which led to a faster way of communication. The invention and advancement of the
printing press was one of the first contributing factors of globalization through communication. One of
the other major events that shaped history was the Silk Road. The Silk Road was an ancient trade
route stretching from Europe to Asia. It was used to export goods, but also served as a means of
carrying out cultural trade amongst different civilizations and it was used to exchange ideas. This
presents the idea that even though initially its purpose was only to trade and gain materials, it
eventually transformed into a way of communication between many different

How Did The Beatles Contribute To The Popularity Of Rock N...
The Beatles were the first British Rock group. Their band consisted of members, John Lennon
(vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitarist), George Harrison (guitarist), and Ringo Starr (Drummer).
The Beatles performed Rock N Roll and Pop. In 1960, the band formed in Liverpool, England and
were acknowledged as on of the most influential music groups. They became more popular around
1963 with Paul McCartney and John Lennon as primary songwriters. The Beatles laid a foundation for
Rock N Roll in the 60 s. The Beatles manager and producer started recording music which helped
grow their popularity in the United Kingdom. Their first primary hit Love Me Do led to such a great
popularity that they kept recording albums such as Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, and Let It Be. Over
time, The Beatles became the Best Selling Band In History with over 800 million albums sold.
Billboard magazine named them Most Successful Artist of all time in 2017, also stating the fact that
they had 20 number one hits on the top 100. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Japan Before Pearl Harbor
1942 was a very pivotal year the the United States during the War. Pearl Harbor has been attacked a
few months earlier on December 7, 1941, which launched the official start of the U.S entering the war.
The U.S was now faced with a war on two fronts. Roosevelt was being pulled between attacking the
Japanese in the West or to aid his ally England in the East. Although Roosevelt promised Churchill to
aid them as soon as the U.S enters the war, Roosevelt decided to deal with matters in the West first. He
would execute Executive order 9066 (the relocation of Japanese Americans into concentration camps).
Shortly after this order was executed, the coast of California was attacked a few days later. Roosevelt

I will be highlighting the untalked about German weapons that will be used against Great Britain, but
first I will recap the fighting between America and Japan throughout the duration of 1942. America
continues to battle with the Japanese in the Pacific after Pearl Harbor. Tensions would rise when a
once American, Japanese student (Iva Toguri A.K.A Tokyo Rose), would go to Japan and criticize the
Americans and try to kill the American moral. Instead Americans would be reminded of what they are
fighting for and continue to be strong on their attack against the Japanese. In the Spring of 1942,
America would suffer the loss at the fall of the Philippines. The battles in the Philippines was led by
General Douglas MacArthur. Following the fall of Bataan and in the Philippines, the Americans would

Herman Boone Belonging
Question 1: Personal power is when one impacts another person or group of people through their
actions and behaviour. This is depicted in Coach Herman Boone as he uses his power as coach to
teach the white team and coloured team to work together to create the perfect team. It is also seen
when Louie Lastik sat with the people with coloured skin at lunch instead of with the people with
white skin . Social power is when a group of people have are more dominant or have a higher status
from something. In the movie Remember the titans, the people with white skin have more social
power at the beginning as they are considered better than people with coloured skin. Institutional
power is when individuals have more power than others from their experience and knowledge.
Institutional power is portrayed through the two coaches (Boone and Yoast) as they have more power
than the students since they have studied and finished. Question 2: Belonging is the ability to feel
wanted and included in a group, team or with other people. It is imperative that the younger generation
understand the concept of belonging as it will help them find themselves as they grow. Personally, I
had difficulty finding friends that I felt comfortable with in primary school. However, after entering
high school and finding an amazing group of people who accept and understand me, both my
emotional and mental well being has improved greatly. Belonging is a vital component to have to
ensure a positive well being.

Disadvantages Of Intelligence Led Policing
In preparation for my debate on the topics of intelligence led policing and Compstat policing, I have
discovered the many advantages and disadvantages of using intelligence led policing and Compstat
policing. According to Carter Carter (2009), intelligence led policing is the collection of and analysis
of data relating to crime, used by law enforcement in developing tactical responses to threats and/or
strategic planning related to emerging changing threats (p. 317). When applied correctly, intelligence
led policing is a tool used for information sharing in identifying threats and developing responses to
prevent those threats from reaching fruition (Carter, 2011). One of the advantages of using intelligence
led policing is its incorporation of data analysts. The role of the data analyst in the context of
intelligence led policing allows them to take specially trained analysts to take raw data from
information found in reports and translate it into useful information for the officers, allowing the
police to deploy resources more effectively and efficiently (Griffiths, 2016). Another advantage is its
application through preventative and predictive policing (proactive policing), in which law
enforcement take data and identify crucial variables such as terrorism or the emergence of criminal
organizations, in hopes of stopping the problem at its roots (Carter, 2011). Terrorism is especially
important and emphasized after the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Centers in

Definition Of Income Inequality
In my opinion, one of the most controversial topic in the recent election was Income Inequality. The
real reason people are unable to talk others into believing them when they argue on the Income
Equality is because not everyone knows the correct definition of Income Inequality. Income inequality
means unequal distribution of household and income in the economy. Income inequality is also
presented as the percentage of income to a percentage of the population ( Income Inequality ) which
means the difference between the amounts of money each family spend on themselves. On the other
hand, economic inequality is measured among groups in the population or between countries.
(Wikipedia, Economic inequality ) In my opinion, income inequality is a problem that is faced by
every country, but it is not a problem that should be tackled immediately. The rich are money making
machines. Today, the top mega wealthy the top 1% earn an average of $1.3 million a year. It s more
than three times as much as the 1980s, when the rich only made $428,000; on average... Meanwhile,
the bottom 50% of the American population earned an average of $16,000 in pre tax income in 1980.
That hasn t changed in over three decades (Long, Inequality in America is getting worse); state that
the way the United States economy has been it is a home of many rich people. One of the downsides
of living in US that top 1% earning are increasing dramatically every year, whereas the bottom 50% of

Chemical Structure Of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
Chemical structure
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (chemical formula (C8H8)x·(C4H6)y·(C3H3N)z) is a graft copolymer
synthetised from polymerisation of three monomers, acrylonitrile, 1,3 butadiene and styrene which are
shown in Figure 1, and the side chains of ABS plastic are structurally distinct from the main chain.
Carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen are the main atoms present in ABS polymers with carbon being the
predominant atom. It is a thermoplastic polymer that becomes more pliable when heated and then
becomes harder and more rigid when cooled which is a reversible physical change. Each ABS plastic
has two phases, a continuous phase of styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) and a dispersed phase of
polybutadiene which are shown in Figure 2. The properties of ABS plastic are dependent on the ratios
of monomers and molecular structure of two phases. An ABS polymer is comprised of 21% 27%
acrylonitrile, 12% 25% butadiene and 54% 63% styrene. In addition, an ABS polymer typically
contains 70% 90% SAN phase and 10% 30% rubber phase to meet its optimal commercial
characteristics.
Manufacturing processes of ABS plastic
The general preparation of ABS plastic is to graft a polymerization of acrylonitrile styrene mixture
(SAN phase) in the presence of a suitable rubber component. There are five steps involved in an
emulsion process which are rubber polymerization, agglomeration, grafted polymerization, polymer
recovery and compounding, and all polymerisation reactions take place in the presence of water. The
grafting of SAN phase can be achieved by reacting with an initiator radical () from the polybutadiene:
High levels of emulsifier are then added to maintain a separated suspension during the aqueous phase.
A stable dispersion is formed in the SAN phase after the polybutadiene is partially grafted. The latex
particles are then extracted through a coagulation process and produce an ABS concentrate. After the
compounding process, ABS polymers are produced. The advantages of the emulsion process are that
the resultant ABS resins are more flexible and they can have different hardness, resistance and tensile
strength depending on the different combinations of monomer ratios. However, residual monomers
and solvents will make

Women s Rights Violations Analysis
No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body, nor can no woman call herself
free until she can choose consciously whether she will or will not be a mother. Margaret Sanders, an
early feminist and birth control activist, strove greatly for women, especially in their stand for
contraceptives that would help prevent unwanted pregnancies. She understood that women become
greatly affected by the choice of having an abortion for that right alone assures them that they are in
complete control over their bodies. Denying women of this right would not only make it
unconstitutional, it would make it to where the woman does not even have the right to decide matters
regarding her own body. Stemming from that, there have been many ... Show more content on

From different aspects, there came different rights being violated and constrained. For example, there
are privacy rights, equality rights, bodily rights, reproductive rights and many more. Since abortion is
unconstitutional, it violated at least one of the amendments, which in fact, it violated more than one.
For instance, it violated the first and fourteenth amendment. It violated the first amendment by
violating women s religious freedom. Argued by Peter Wenz, he believed that it s a religious belief to
consider the fetus as a person before the twenty week gestation period, resulting in the violation of
religious freedom stated in the first amendment. The fourteenth amendment violated the basic rights of
citizens. ( Ethics: Abortion ). On the other hand, FOCA: Freedom of Choice Act, protects women.
FOCA states that every woman has the right to bear a child and terminate pregnancy before and after
viability of the fetus in order to protect the mother s life. Along with FOCA, women have body
sovereignty, which is when women have the right to decide matters regarding her body. Having the
choice over whether or not to have children is vital to women s independence and ability to determine
their own futures ( Rights of fetus ). Restrictions on abortion can take away the rights of women and
the aspect of equality rights. Women become deprived of their equalities in education, social life, and
economic life due to childbirth and having to raise children against their will. The restrictions set forth
the layout of the mother s life, therefore, taking away her equal rights to her own life( Equality
Arguments ). With the case of minor mothers, there are some restrictions set because they re underage.

The Signalman by Charles Dickens and The Red Room by H.G. Wells
To be denied of information as a reader is far more powerful than to know the truth.
In this assignment I will be looking at the two short stories written in the 1800 s: The Red Room by
H.G.Wells where a man goes into an apparently haunted room and although he is warned by other old
characters he does not listen and the tension builds up as he goes into the room where fear gets the
better of him in a room which might not be haunted in the end. The other short story is The Signalman

Charles Dickens. In The signalman a man lives separated from the real world living a lonely life as a

The structures of the two stories are structured to create and sustain suspense. Both Dickens and Wells
try to build up suspense in the beginning of the stories and to add to the tension the stories end with
mystery and lead you to your own interpretation of what could have happened. The Signalman opens
with the quote Halloa! Below there this short, but effective line becomes very decisive as the story
goes on. We don t know whose speaking and so creates tension already. The man he is shouting at
below looks round to face the tunnel Looked down the line . Any normal person would look upwards
in response to this. Dickens is creating the unexplainable which builds up the tension and suspense. It
is the Described that The Signalman thinks the narrator is a ghost and visa versa, The monstrous
thought came into my mind as I perused the fixed eyes and the saturnine face, that this was a spirit,
not a man . This immediately hints the involvement of the supernatural which can build suspense and
mystery to the story. Commenting on the atmosphere around him the narrator tells that it struck chill
to me, as if I had left the natural world. The end of The Signalman is full of mystery after the suspense
is built through out. When the narrator went in the morning to the signalman s box and finds him dead,
under the danger light peacefully it is very strange and mysterious because he knew his job very well
and was very safe I should

Personal Opinion Regarding Education and High Taxes
I was in fourth grade, and we used paper and pencil. Then we switched to the flip program. I liked it
but now we have to raise taxes to keep it. We don t even need it! I Think we should get rid of flip,
because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a
book when they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and paper more than typing, and it will
increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days are high enough, and raising the taxes even
more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves and the
higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! If we raise the taxes
even more it COULD cause fights over taxes being too high.Think about the people who barely have

My Experience At The End Of The Summer
We live in a world in which we are expected to work and survive; working provides the resources
needed for survival, but working does not necessarily bring happiness to our lives. When I was in high
school I got a summer job and was hoping for the best, before I even started working I had already
calculated how much I would earn at the end of the summer. Everything seemed perfect I was not
excited about having to wake up early but I knew I could manage it and I did. For three consecutive
summers I worked packing fruit out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fig trees. The first week

I felt like I was sacrificing valuable time in order to do the most painful thing in the world. Marx
recognizes that external labour, labour in which man alienates himself, is a labour of self sacrifice, of
mortification. I did not feel embarrassed to be working out in the fields, but I did hate my life and I
felt like time was passing slowly. While working in the summer I made money but I also learned a lot.
Before working I knew that life could be difficult; however, I was never consciously aware of the
competition/envy that exists among workers. I had always heard my parents talk about their jobs and
they would mention greedy co workers but I thought that was just something they did in order to scare
me away from working. However, when I started working I realized that my parents were not playing
when they would tell me that people can be very greedy. At work not only did I experience subject
alienation, but I also experienced and saw how species alienation comes into play when individuals
compete for the resources available. The first week of work was very fun because everyone got along
and everyone worked together; however, by the third week the work environment was different.
People were now greedy with their things, the ladies did not want to share boxes or share the fruit,

Autonomous Vehicles Essay
One of the touted benefits of autonomous vehicles is that it will reduce the need for parking in urban
areas, where parking is often a premium. By 2035, it is estimated that the need for parking space
should decline more than 5.7 billion square meters as a result of driverless cars. Experts speculate that
individual car ownership will become a thing of the past, and that individuals will purchase a
subscription service or buy into a cardominium where an autonomous vehicle, that no longer needs to
be parked on site, will arrive and take an individual to their desired destination.
For condominiums that are located in densely populated urban areas, parking spaces are often sold
between co owners at a premium. In most cases, onsite parking spaces are limited common elements
that are associated with an individual unit. The Michigan Condominium Act, specifically MCL
559.139, allows for limited common element parking spaces to be transferred as follows:

The Importance Of Adversity And Character Challenges By...
Everyone has faced adversity at some point in their lives, yet we survive and emerge from our
obstacles more resilient than before. As the proverb states, What doesn t kill you makes you stronger.
Whether it is a hidden gift that may lead to future success, or simply determination that helped you
power through the obstacle, people always end up discovering talents that they didn t have before.
Like Roman poet Horace claims, adversity induces hidden talents that would not have been unmasked
under prosperous conditions. How exactly does adversity bring forth special abilities? Adversity
creates opportunities to discover talents that are used to face it. After falling ill at eighteen months,
Helen Keller became deaf and blind, destined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

find a new way to support the remainder of his family. My uncle was able to start a new business from

everything himself out of necessity. Adversity forced him to do what he needed to do to survive,
bringing out talents which he didn t know he had before. Another example of adversity pushing
someone to the limit is Kris Carr, a woman who found out she had a rare stage four cancer in her liver
and lungs. With no other option, Kris Carr decided to create a new nutritional lifestyle for herself to
fight against her illness. She managed to survive her severe cancer and become an expert on healthy
living, writing several self help books. The will to survive pushed Kris to change her life for the better
and discover talents that were previously hidden. If you work hard, you gain hard. This popular saying
is supported by Malcolm Gladwell who states that there is a direct correlation between effort and
reward on page 149 of Outliers. The concept highlights the fact that effort is essential for success.
Gladwell provides the example of a clothes maker Borgenicht and his wife who were successful
because they sewed aprons all night long, putting in a lot of effort for their business. To overcome
adversity, people have to work through it. Benjamin Franklin was ten years old when he was

What The Title Of Hobsbawm s Book Can Indicate At A First...
Despite what the title of Hobsbawm s book can indicate at a first glance, his work is neither a step by
step textbook of factual information about how history should be written nor a series of directly given
guidelines that historians should follow. Instead it is a book composed of twenty one essays that
represent his own work transformed from their previous form as lectures, contributions to conferences
or articles and reviews in different journals. As Hobsbawm himself explains, his reflections on history
for the better of his fifty year career in history have brought together this collection of papers. His
essays deal with issues like the uses and abuses of history in both society and politics and concerns
with historical interpretation while also looking at the history of the discipline itself from the 1890s
when it became an academic subject to the newer historical trends and fashions like postmodernism.
When looked at separately, the chapters in the book appear to be too different to fit in the same
volume and developed by themselves each can form a new book. However, Hobsbawm explains his
reasoning behind adding each of them to the book. Chapter one stands out as Hobsbawm addresses
future generation of historians (it was at first an introductory lecture given at a university in
Budapest), warning about the dangers of writing history wrongly and outlining the main
responsibilities of historians. Chapters two, three and four focus on the historian s concern with

  • 2. Josh Mcdowell Research Paper Josh McDowell In 1939, Josh McDowell was born in Union City, Michigan. He grew up with an abusive father and was sexually abused from age six to thirteen. Josh McDowell thought of himself as an agnostic and thought Christianity is worthless. He always wondered: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? At community college, he was challenged by his friends to write a paper to disprove the existence of Christianity. It started when he saw his friends were always happy and joyful. Josh really wanted the inner joy this group contained. He always believed that Christianity was weak and couldn t be argued, but after research, he discovered the faith of Christianity and trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Once accepting Jesus Christ into his life he changed for the better. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1960 he has written 147 books in over one hundred languages. His two most famous books are More Than A Carpenter and New Evidence That Demands a Verdict. • 3. Benefits of Artificial Reefs Essay Thesis: When an artificial reef is made many just see trash going into the sea, however there are positive benefits that come from the making of the reef. Perhaps the most obvious benefit of an artificial reef is the creation of a new community for aquatic creatures to live. It is like a developer going out to sea and making a new subdivision out there for fish. This creation of an artificial reef is the most natural way to protect the marine habitat, by providing shelter, a source of food, and an area for mating and reproduction for a numerous amount of creatures. The reason this is so important is because a given area of water can only support so many marine creatures, none of these creatures can live in mid water where there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of this revenue is created by the tourism that these reefs create. If you don t know much about diving here is a figure that will help you, a large percentage of all the tourism industries revenue is from these people diving. When these sites are created this is exactly what they have in mind, attracting thousands of divers to these easily accessible sites. These divers come to see these reefs because the sites are known locations and the organisms growing on and the ecosystem around it is a beautiful site that is a joy to partake in. As a matter of fact the view is so spectacular that today the sale of underwater cameras far exceeds the sale of spear guns, which creates even more revenue for local dive shops. This is why divers travel around the world to get a look at these sites. When these divers come into town this is where the revenue comes in from anything such as boat tours/charters, hotel stays, food consumption, and equipment. Many companies have keyed into this market and have started making their own natural reefs. These companies have used them for everything from submarine tours to burial sites for the deceased ashes. Don t forget about the fishermen, whom are also getting wealthy due to the reefs. The fish swarm to these areas now, so the fishermen know exactly where to fish and fill their boats up. • 4. The Challenges Of Virtual Team Collaboration The challenges of virtual team collaboration are numerous and significant. However, several organizational best practices exist, which companies can employ to maximize virtual team development and collaboration. By applying these practices, organizations can overcome virtual team challenges, such as time, distance, size, diversity, communication, and specialization. The organizational best practices fall into four primary categories, namely Executive support, HR Practices, Leadership Strength, and Team Structure (Gratton Erickson, 2007). Executive Support: Investing in Signature relationship practices The success or failure of virtual team collaboration in organizations is often reflected in the philosophies and support of its executives. For example, when company executives demonstrate collaborative behaviors and create collaborative environments where social interactions thrive, virtual team collaboration also thrives. Executives achieve this by establishing, encouraging, and maintaining strong social interactions throughout the organization. These practices are often tailored to the unique culture of the organization and are effective because of its unique signature or fit to the organization. By investing in signature relationship practices, executives can encourage collaboration across the organization (Gratton Erickson, 2007). • 6. Emily Rose Religion The benefits that religion and spirituality provide in recovery and psychotherapeutic support are exponential (Bradshaw et. al). It is one of the reasons the correlation between religious mindset and mental health continues to draw scholarly attention. Another confounding variable is that there is little cultural separation between spiritual guidance and psychotherapy. Most Catholic Priest s come equipped with undergraduate and seminary work, the minimum requirement to perform basic counseling in most states. Gettis, a psychiatrist and scholar, postulates that both priest and psychotherapists are mutual socially sanctioned healers drawn together by the belief that they possess healing power (Gettis 188). Alternatively, religion can also induce feelings of shame and bare negative effects on one s mental health (Keks et.al). • 8. John Locke Unspoken Contract Essay Winder Perez Hum3306 Option #1 The Unspoken/Unwritten contract of Mankind Is there an unwritten rule or acknowledgement between mankind in which we have agreed to a disproportionate and unequal amount of earthly possessions? Or have we been coerced by our ancestors through rules and laws of society that have been forgotten through time? John Locke a rational and just man who usually battles his arguments with morals and logic speaks in his treatise chapter V about God. John Locke opens the chapter speaking about equality and that God gave the earth to the children of man therefore no one was granted more than the other. Locke took his stance on the appropriation of lands and earthly possessions. Locke proposed the theory of labor. Locke s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Claiming that it is acceptable to own more than one s labor can service as long as that perishable is bartered for money (non perishable). Like this, Locke realizes the unspoken contract between mankind. Indeed one can have a disproportionate and unequal possession of the earth by agreeing to use gold and silver. Since everyone agrees to use currency inequality becomes fair and just due to the fact that a man s worth is determined by his labor. Locke believed that bartering for goods with money was presumably prejudiced, and voluntary because both sides would have something to gain. A famous saying silence is consent has also lead me to believe that throughout time some became more entitled to more than others. With a vast quantity of land per capita some found themselves acquiring more just because they could. Others allowed it therefore if it was accepted. But many questions are still unanswered. If we can accumulate as much money without causing others poverty are those who are poor entitled to my money? According to Locke s view if we did not cause that persons poverty we are not responsible for their suffering. A catch 22 indeed though we did not cause the persons suffering, it is the same that we did nothing to stop it. This is a question of ethics John Locke overlooked. Accordingly, it emerged a unified polity and administration, first under Prophet Muhammad and then the first Caliph Abu Bakr that set the stage for the early Arab conquests. The conquests continued unabated during the reigns of Caliphs Omar and Othman, and then by the Umayyads and the Abbasids and other Muslim dynasties that established strong centers of power in the world. By the 11th century AD, the Islamic society could boast of a number of cultural and technical centers of leaning with eminent scholars of all the known disciplines of the time. Essay on Pros and Cons of the Atkins and South Beach Diets Pros and Cons of the Atkins and South Beach Diets People consider many factors when choosing a diet: what best suites their needs, how it fits with their body type, and what the diet entails, are all aspects taken into account. The Atkins and South Beach diets are plans that take different approaches in style but end up having similar results in the end. Atkins serves to eliminate carbohydrates and focus on more protein enriched foods; this idea sells because it offers a way to lose weight fast. The South Beach diet on the other hand is a method that takes a more balanced approach; it aims to teach people about the good carbohydrates and the good fats versus the bad. Because these diets have both pros and cons, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea is one of many involving the pros and cons of the Atkins plan in comparison to diets similar to it. Another reason why so many people choose the Atkins plan is because dieters are allowed to consume good tasting, fatty foods, during the induction phase of the diet. However, as tempting as these food options may be, the end result shows an increase in cholesterol that is proven to have a negative effect on the heart and body as a whole. Furthermore, another aspect of the Atkins diet is the fact that it is proven to generate weight loss, however, the drawback is that the loss is only for a short amount of time, and not easily maintained. The likelihood of losing the weight and keeping it off is something that researchers are still trying to show as a possibility (Harper, 1). But there are alternatives to the Atkins plan, the most common of which is Dr. Arthur Agatston s South Beach diet. While Atkins serves to eliminate almost all carbohydrates and replace them with foods high in fat, the South Beach diet attempts to simply teach people how to eat the good carbohydrates and fats, and eliminate the bad. Not only does Dr. Agatston want to teach people the correct way to eat, he also reinstates the importance of exercise intermixed with a healthy food regimen. The Lion King s story of Simba s rise to succeed his father as king reflects western attitudes towards growing up and how maturing from a child into an adult is perceived: meeting the expectations of family and society, and accepting the responsibilities associated with adulthood. Unlike The Lion King where the film ends when the protagonist, Simba, has matured into an adult, Gurren Lagann follows its protagonist, Simon, throughout his entire life detailing phases of growth a person experiences. • 14. The Theory Of Management And The Scientific Management... Theories of management date back to the beginning of times. Every aspect of life contains some form of management. From managing oneself, to managing employees, to managing an entire corporation, management is a key part of life. Over time different theories have been developed and have evolved. Some of the first theories ever explored include the administrative management theory and the scientific management theory. While both of these theories were studied in depth, I believe that one of the greatest theories to ever arise deprived from the Neoclassical Theory of Management, the Human Relations Theory. As previously mentioned, the Human Relations Theory was part of a larger movement called the Neoclassical Theory of Management and was created to provide a new environment and approach to employees in their workplace. Its origins date back to the early 1920 s from a man by the name of Professor Elton Mayo, who began to start the research that would later bring the Human Relations Theory into play (Perry,Gail). The Human Relations theory focused more on human relations and their environment as opposed to previous theories that focused on treating employees more as just an extension of a factory machine. Comparing Berger And Luckmann Traditional economics bases human decisions off of price and income; however, Berger and Luckmann differentiate their theory by utilizing social construction to explain behavior. At the most basic level, Berger and Luckmann view man as homo socius, individuals influenced and molded by their social surroundings into the person that they are. Humans come to understand their personal reality through socialization as it provides them with their own meanings of themselves and the world that they are in. Two main types of socialization function to form humans in this model: primary socialization, which begins at birth and develops as the core of one s self and secondary socialization, which occurs after primary socialization from the accrual of information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Habitualization allows an everyday act to become engrained into reality and require less effort as it becomes increasingly fortified in daily life. Narrowed choices simplify decision making and generate a stable foundation that allows people to make larger decisions without worrying about the less important ones. Since all human activity can be habitualized, each individual will develop different habits based off of their own daily routines. For instance, if Starbucks is directly on my way to class and I have been socialized to enjoy drinking coffee, I begin to stop in at Starbucks increasingly more before class. With repetition, this activity becomes solidified as a part of my daily routine and takes less effort to decide whether I want to stop at Starbucks or suffer through my class under caffeinated. Eventually, when both actors reciprocally typify habitualizations, these actions become institutionalized. Typification is the process we undergo to create standard social constructions based on the standard assumptions we share. Actors typify interactions between individuals, externalizing their own subjective ideas and making them more concrete as they now become objective to the other actors. Typically, these institutions are considered to be obvious social structures such as family or government, however, they can even be extended to my Starbucks example. My role as the customer is buying coffee, while the employee s role is providing service. • 24. Disadvantages Of Intelligence Led Policing In preparation for my debate on the topics of intelligence led policing and Compstat policing, I have discovered the many advantages and disadvantages of using intelligence led policing and Compstat policing. According to Carter Carter (2009), intelligence led policing is the collection of and analysis of data relating to crime, used by law enforcement in developing tactical responses to threats and/or strategic planning related to emerging changing threats (p. 317). When applied correctly, intelligence led policing is a tool used for information sharing in identifying threats and developing responses to prevent those threats from reaching fruition (Carter, 2011). One of the advantages of using intelligence led policing is its incorporation of data analysts. The role of the data analyst in the context of intelligence led policing allows them to take specially trained analysts to take raw data from information found in reports and translate it into useful information for the officers, allowing the police to deploy resources more effectively and efficiently (Griffiths, 2016). Another advantage is its application through preventative and predictive policing (proactive policing), in which law enforcement take data and identify crucial variables such as terrorism or the emergence of criminal organizations, in hopes of stopping the problem at its roots (Carter, 2011). • 27. Chemical Structure Of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Chemical structure Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (chemical formula (C8H8)x·(C4H6)y·(C3H3N)z) is a graft copolymer synthetised from polymerisation of three monomers, acrylonitrile, 1,3 butadiene and styrene which are shown in Figure 1, and the side chains of ABS plastic are structurally distinct from the main chain. Carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen are the main atoms present in ABS polymers with carbon being the predominant atom. It is a thermoplastic polymer that becomes more pliable when heated and then becomes harder and more rigid when cooled which is a reversible physical change. Each ABS plastic has two phases, a continuous phase of styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) and a dispersed phase of polybutadiene which are shown in Figure 2. The properties of ABS plastic are dependent on the ratios of monomers and molecular structure of two phases. An ABS polymer is comprised of 21% 27% acrylonitrile, 12% 25% butadiene and 54% 63% styrene. In addition, an ABS polymer typically contains 70% 90% SAN phase and 10% 30% rubber phase to meet its optimal commercial characteristics. Manufacturing processes of ABS plastic The general preparation of ABS plastic is to graft a polymerization of acrylonitrile styrene mixture (SAN phase) in the presence of a suitable rubber component. There are five steps involved in an emulsion process which are rubber polymerization, agglomeration, grafted polymerization, polymer recovery and compounding, and all polymerisation reactions take place in the presence of water. The grafting of SAN phase can be achieved by reacting with an initiator radical () from the polybutadiene: High levels of emulsifier are then added to maintain a separated suspension during the aqueous phase. A stable dispersion is formed in the SAN phase after the polybutadiene is partially grafted. The latex particles are then extracted through a coagulation process and produce an ABS concentrate. After the compounding process, ABS polymers are produced. The advantages of the emulsion process are that the resultant ABS resins are more flexible and they can have different hardness, resistance and tensile strength depending on the different combinations of monomer ratios. However, residual monomers and solvents will make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She understood that women become greatly affected by the choice of having an abortion for that right alone assures them that they are in complete control over their bodies. Denying women of this right would not only make it unconstitutional, it would make it to where the woman does not even have the right to decide matters regarding her own body. Stemming from that, there have been many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From different aspects, there came different rights being violated and constrained. For example, there are privacy rights, equality rights, bodily rights, reproductive rights and many more. Since abortion is unconstitutional, it violated at least one of the amendments, which in fact, it violated more than one. For instance, it violated the first and fourteenth amendment. It violated the first amendment by violating women s religious freedom. Argued by Peter Wenz, he believed that it s a religious belief to consider the fetus as a person before the twenty week gestation period, resulting in the violation of religious freedom stated in the first amendment. The fourteenth amendment violated the basic rights of citizens. ( Ethics: Abortion ). On the other hand, FOCA: Freedom of Choice Act, protects women. FOCA states that every woman has the right to bear a child and terminate pregnancy before and after viability of the fetus in order to protect the mother s life. Along with FOCA, women have body sovereignty, which is when women have the right to decide matters regarding her body. Having the choice over whether or not to have children is vital to women s independence and ability to determine their own futures ( Rights of fetus ). Restrictions on abortion can take away the rights of women and the aspect of equality rights. Women become deprived of their equalities in education, social life, and economic life due to childbirth and having to raise children against their will. The restrictions set forth the layout of the mother s life, therefore, taking away her equal rights to her own life( Equality Arguments ). With the case of minor mothers, there are some restrictions set because they re underage. For instance, in 37 states, minor mothers wishing to get an abortion need parental involvement, in 26 ... Wells To be denied of information as a reader is far more powerful than to know the truth. In this assignment I will be looking at the two short stories written in the 1800 s: The Red Room by H.G.Wells where a man goes into an apparently haunted room and although he is warned by other old characters he does not listen and the tension builds up as he goes into the room where fear gets the better of him in a room which might not be haunted in the end. The other short story is The Signalman by Charles Dickens. In The signalman a man lives separated from the real world living a lonely life as a signal man at a train station and thinks he might be being visited by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structures of the two stories are structured to create and sustain suspense. Both Dickens and Wells try to build up suspense in the beginning of the stories and to add to the tension the stories end with mystery and lead you to your own interpretation of what could have happened. The Signalman opens with the quote Halloa! Below there this short, but effective line becomes very decisive as the story goes on. We don t know whose speaking and so creates tension already. The man he is shouting at below looks round to face the tunnel Looked down the line . Any normal person would look upwards in response to this. Dickens is creating the unexplainable which builds up the tension and suspense. It is the Described that The Signalman thinks the narrator is a ghost and visa versa, The monstrous thought came into my mind as I perused the fixed eyes and the saturnine face, that this was a spirit, not a man . This immediately hints the involvement of the supernatural which can build suspense and mystery to the story. Commenting on the atmosphere around him the narrator tells that it struck chill to me, as if I had left the natural world. The end of The Signalman is full of mystery after the suspense is built through out. When the narrator went in the morning to the signalman s box and finds him dead, under the danger light peacefully it is very strange and mysterious because he knew his job very well and was very safe I should ... • 31. Personal Opinion Regarding Education and High Taxes I was in fourth grade, and we used paper and pencil. Then we switched to the flip program. I liked it but now we have to raise taxes to keep it. We don t even need it! I Think we should get rid of flip, because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a book when they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and paper more than typing, and it will increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days are high enough, and raising the taxes even more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves and the higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! If we raise the taxes even more it COULD cause fights over taxes being too high.Think about the people who barely have enough money to pay for their taxes already. Us raising it would make it worse. It could even effect you! A democracy is three wolves and one sheep voting on what s for dinner. Neil Boor. • 33. My Experience At The End Of The Summer We live in a world in which we are expected to work and survive; working provides the resources needed for survival, but working does not necessarily bring happiness to our lives. When I was in high school I got a summer job and was hoping for the best, before I even started working I had already calculated how much I would earn at the end of the summer. Everything seemed perfect I was not excited about having to wake up early but I knew I could manage it and I did. For three consecutive summers I worked packing fruit out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fig trees. The first week on the job was fun and manageable; however, as time progressed I began to hate my life. I hated the fact that I had to wake up at four in the morning and ... Marx recognizes that external labour, labour in which man alienates himself, is a labour of self sacrifice, of mortification. I did not feel embarrassed to be working out in the fields, but I did hate my life and I felt like time was passing slowly. While working in the summer I made money but I also learned a lot. Before working I knew that life could be difficult; however, I was never consciously aware of the competition/envy that exists among workers. I had always heard my parents talk about their jobs and they would mention greedy co workers but I thought that was just something they did in order to scare me away from working. However, when I started working I realized that my parents were not playing when they would tell me that people can be very greedy. At work not only did I experience subject alienation, but I also experienced and saw how species alienation comes into play when individuals compete for the resources available. The first week of work was very fun because everyone got along and everyone worked together; however, by the third week the work environment was different. People were now greedy with their things, the ladies did not want to share boxes or share the fruit, even though all the workers were getting paid the same for the same exact work. At that moment ... • 34. Autonomous Vehicles Essay One of the touted benefits of autonomous vehicles is that it will reduce the need for parking in urban areas, where parking is often a premium. By 2035, it is estimated that the need for parking space should decline more than 5.7 billion square meters as a result of driverless cars. Experts speculate that individual car ownership will become a thing of the past, and that individuals will purchase a subscription service or buy into a cardominium where an autonomous vehicle, that no longer needs to be parked on site, will arrive and take an individual to their desired destination. For condominiums that are located in densely populated urban areas, parking spaces are often sold between co owners at a premium. In most cases, onsite parking spaces are limited common elements that are associated with an individual unit. The Michigan Condominium Act, specifically MCL 559.139, allows for limited common element parking spaces to be transferred as follows: (1) Assignments and reassignments of limited common elements shall be reflected by the original master deed or an amendment to the ... As the proverb states, What doesn t kill you makes you stronger. Whether it is a hidden gift that may lead to future success, or simply determination that helped you power through the obstacle, people always end up discovering talents that they didn t have before. Like Roman poet Horace claims, adversity induces hidden talents that would not have been unmasked under prosperous conditions. How exactly does adversity bring forth special abilities? Adversity creates opportunities to discover talents that are used to face it. After falling ill at eighteen months, Helen Keller became deaf and blind, destined ... Adversity forced him to do what he needed to do to survive, bringing out talents which he didn t know he had before. Another example of adversity pushing someone to the limit is Kris Carr, a woman who found out she had a rare stage four cancer in her liver and lungs. With no other option, Kris Carr decided to create a new nutritional lifestyle for herself to fight against her illness. She managed to survive her severe cancer and become an expert on healthy living, writing several self help books. The will to survive pushed Kris to change her life for the better and discover talents that were previously hidden. If you work hard, you gain hard. This popular saying is supported by Malcolm Gladwell who states that there is a direct correlation between effort and reward on page 149 of Outliers. The concept highlights the fact that effort is essential for success. • 36. What The Title Of Hobsbawm s Book Can Indicate At A First... Despite what the title of Hobsbawm s book can indicate at a first glance, his work is neither a step by step textbook of factual information about how history should be written nor a series of directly given guidelines that historians should follow. Instead it is a book composed of twenty one essays that represent his own work transformed from their previous form as lectures, contributions to conferences or articles and reviews in different journals. As Hobsbawm himself explains, his reflections on history for the better of his fifty year career in history have brought together this collection of papers. His essays deal with issues like the uses and abuses of history in both society and politics and concerns with historical interpretation while also looking at the history of the discipline itself from the 1890s when it became an academic subject to the newer historical trends and fashions like postmodernism. When looked at separately, the chapters in the book appear to be too different to fit in the same volume and developed by themselves each can form a new book. However, Hobsbawm explains his reasoning behind adding each of them to the book. Chapter one stands out as Hobsbawm addresses future generation of historians (it was at first an introductory lecture given at a university in Budapest), warning about the dangers of writing history wrongly and outlining the main responsibilities of historians. Chapters two, three and four focus on the historian s concern with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
