Netflix Satire Examples Of Satire
In the Netflix mockumentary series, American vandal, made by Dan Perrault, the main character
Dylan Maxwell, an 18 year old senior at Hanover High School was held responsible for performing
vandalism on 27 cars causing $100K worth of disfiguring. Everybody believed that Dylan was in
charge of the destruction, despite the fact that he claimed innocence. Instead, they thought Alex
Trimboli, the eyewitness, Ms Shapiro, the Spanish teacher and everyone else that claimed he was
behind the vandalism were speaking the truth. They put Dylan as the prime suspect based on his past
with Ms Shapiro and furthermore because they believed he was capable of committing such crime.
The thesis of the show is never to prejudge a person based on their past. That may sound as cliche as it
appears to be yet the accompanying procedures used to shape the show will enable one to see how
under the circumstances this might be viewed as a cliche thesis. The examples of satire that the
creators used were humour, exaggeration and irony. A diversion was utilised to make the show
enjoyable for young people, yet with the use of satire, they could influence teenagers to appreciate the
show while accepting a genuine message about how a false allegation against anyone could destroy
their lives. Many of the people in the show were biased against rebellious teenagers which was
something that Dylan was known for being. In the mockumentary, Dylan Maxwell was accused based
off his image, his past, as well as his

Claude Monet Research Paper
The Water lily s Claude Monet Has been a big interest of mine after last summer. Last summer I
traveled to Pairs and was super exited to see the Monet s garden on my journey. This was one of the
best days in my travel to see this Monet s garden and house. After touring the garden I was astonished
by the view. When I toured Claude Monet s house I was interested in him as an artist and wanted to
know more about him. His paintings and garden were beautiful, breathtaking, and I enjoyed every
minute that I spent there. Claude oscar Monet was born in Laffitte in Pairs on November 14th 1840.
His parents were Adolphe and Louise Justine Aubrée Monet, His mother was a singer and father was a
grocery store owner. On April 18 Claude was accepted in to the secondary art school of Le Havre. He
became known for his charcoal drawings that he sold for money and took a class for drawing. Though
is time working with drawing he meet artist Eugène Boudin, which became his mentor. Monet was
mentored by Eugène Boudin in how to use oil paint, thus started Claude s love ... Show more content

Gave me a wonderful opportunity to go back and learn more about him. I have seen these gardens and
there as gorgeous, wonderful, and breathe taking as the description makes it seem. I have also seen a
number of Claude paintings in his house, not only did he paint landscape and seascapes he also
painted his wife, and so much other important paintings to him. Claude was a very brilliant painter
that loved flowers and nature. Researching and reading about the different paintings takes me back to
the garden and his house looking at all the magnificent art works. His work is extraordinaire to me and
I believe that anyone that is interested in art, loves art, or just loves flowers should go to his house and
garden in Pairs if they ever got the chance. It was one of my favorite places on my trip in Pairs and I
would gladly go back if I ever got the

Play, By Marc Leblanc
When describing the characteristics of play, Huizinga (1995) pointed out that engaging in the activity
of play is not essential, yet engaging in the act of play is a voluntary activity. It is an activity that can
start and stop at any time and often carried out during leisure time. He also mentioned that play only
gets urgent when the enjoyment of play becomes a need. Thus, playing is enjoyable.
Games are compelling because it provides players several uses such as allowing players to pass time,
to procrastinate, to cheer oneself up or to play just for enjoyment (Phillips et al. 1995). As an
entertainment source, games allow people to enter a world of fantasy and escape the boredom of
reality (Sherry 2004).
Games are compelling because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is goals which bestow these interactions its purpose (Costikyan 2002). Goals are a
stimulus in games which motivates players to interact with the game system further and furthermore.
These goals could be an explicit win state, a set of victory conditions or smaller goals that adds up to
the bigger objective in the game. Goals could be in numerical form such as getting the highest score or
in status form such as the development of a city. On the other hand, there are games that have no
explicit winning conditions. These are usually sand box games like Grand Theft Auto V or simulation
games like The Sims series, whereby players have a wide variety of goals to choose from or a wide
variety of possibilities to play with. Therefore, games are goal directed interactions that involves
decision making (Costikyan 2002), that are up to the player s discretion and the system of the game.
Games are compelling this way because each gameplay of the same game will be dfferent....
To make achieving goals in games a little more challenging for the players, games have the element of
struggle to make things interesting. Games would have a form of conflict, competition, challenge,
oppositions or even puzzles to make players to struggle interactively towards a goal (Costikyan 2002)

Chapter Guide for Twilight of Atheism
Justin Segovia
Fr. Denniston
Faith and Critical Reasoning
Chapter 1
The French Revolution was one of the first instances were the ideas of atheism were made public.
The Revolution led many of the clergy to be expelled from the state or killed.
After the Fall of Berlin Wall, atheism declined in popularity.
Russian Revolution continued what French Revolution started. People began to speak of atheism
outside of their own homes.
The classical version of atheism is vastly different than the atheism that is known today.
Some consider modern atheism as one of the greatest achievements of human intellect.
Immortalization in Greek myths meant infinite extension of existence, not the infinite projection of
moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A.C. Swinburne was more avant garde and aggressive in his approach to spreading atheism. He
visualized god as a birch wielding tyrant that oppresses humanity.
Swineburne believed that only the rejection of God would open the way to human self fulfillment.
By the middle of the Nineteenth Century Jesus was seen as a moral sage, or as a role model.
George Tyrrell was appalled that Jesus was seen as less captivating, but conceded that the Christ was a
pale reflection of his biblical self.
Chapter 6
Dostoyevsky was a Russian novelist that wrote on a fictional Russia that turned to atheism to solve its
problems.
While he showed attractive of that choice, he also presented some of its more troubling features.
His criticisms were directed more toward the world God supposedly created, more than critiquing God
himself.
Nietzsche emphasized that the belief in the Christian God became unbelievable.
Nietzsche admits that the realization that God is dead will travel slowly because it is just too
unthinkable .
For nihilism, a religious worldview is oppressive because it insists that we will be held accountable for
our actions.
In a nihilistic view, there are no sins, because nothing matters in the end.
Albert Camus argued that human life is rendered meaningless by death, which prevents the individual
from making sense of existence.

Summary Of Life In The Arctic National Wildlife By Jimmy...
The Arctic National Wildlife is a beautiful forest with various wildlives. Jimmy Carter describes his
time spent with his wife in the Arctic forest. He was amazed by the beauty of such place. As stated,
During bright July days, we walked along ancient caribou trials. Jimmy gave his audience a sense of
imagery when he described the way the place is. The wildlife that Jimmy saw was extraordinary to
him as he examines more about the life in the Arctic National Wildlife. He experienced things that he
calls once in a lifetime, with him saying this, he draws the audience and citizens towards his view of
the place. Choosing to explain what he visualized in his writing makes it difficult to destroy the land.

To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our Love Now by Martyn
Lowery both see men trying to use methods of persuasion to get what they want. How successful are
they?
I have recently studied To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, written in the 17th Century and Our
Love Now by Martyn Lowery, written in the 19th century. Attitudes to love have changed a lot since
the 17th Century. When To His Coy Mistress was written, men were in charge of the relationship. It
would take a lot longer for this relationship to progress than it would today. The man would court the
woman for months before anything progressed. He would write her letters and poems, and then
eventually, if he loved her, he would ask her to marry him. They ... Show more content on

but she says There is always a scar.. implying the wound in their relationship is too deep to mend fully.
In this poem it seems like she has the final word. It is a modern poem about love.
Marvell uses different methods of persuasions. He bombards her as the poem is very long and has no
stanzas, so she has to keep reading and listening to his arguments. He has also divided the poem into
three sections. The first section is about him romancing and flattering her.
He shows his love for her by using time, place and exaggeration. Had we but world enough, and time /
This coyness, lady, were no crime. shows Marvell using time. He is telling the woman that if they had
all the time in the world her shyness would not matter. They by the
Indian Ganges side / Should st rubies find: I by the tide / Of Humber would complain. This shows
Marvell using place and distance to persuade her. He tells her that she could sit by the Indian Ganges,
and he would sit by the Humber in England and wish for her. He then goes on to say, that if she
wishes; she can keep him at arms length, and that his feelings will wait until she is ready. This makes
her feel that he is not pressuring her in to anything she does not want to do. Marvell uses a lot of
exaggeration, for example I would / Love you ten years before the flood.. He is referring to the bible,
making him seem religious and that he supports the religious beliefs of sex after marriage,

Keirsey Temperament Test Analysis
Filling out bubbles, circling answers, rating descriptions; taking tests is one of the various ways to
learn about yourself. According to science, the Keirsey Temperament Test should be one of the the
most correct personality tests crafted. After taking three various personality tests in my English class,
the True Colors, the Keirsey, and the Tibetan test, I surmised that the Keirsey Temperament Test was
the most exact regarding my character and attributes. It was especially valid in extrapolating that I am
very dependable, thorough, and serious. Some may claim that science cannot tell you who you are,
because it is our emotions that rein us. Overall, though the other tests were somewhat precise; this one
most reflected my personality.
Firstly, this test was correct because it stated that I persevere and am a dependable person. Last year,
for example, I was put in charge of choir quite often since I prefer to stay on task and people trust me.
One day I actually lead and taught the choir class, because the substitute never showed up. I was also

myself as intelligent and that one of my best friends is a true friend. Those were both true, while it

This was incorrect for I value my career highly and do not value pride above other things. Another test
that we also took said many things that were correct to a certain degree, such as that I am logical and
like to be challenged. This test was in fact very correct about myself. I thought the Keirsey Test was
better, because it gave more data on myself, as well as a better description and elaboration. These were
all very good tests in their own right, but for myself the Keirsey was the most exact and

How Is Anarres A Utopian Society
To answer the question, How is the utopian society Anarres structured, one can attack it at many ways.
First one can look at the cultural context of the time period in which the novel was written. LeGuin
wrote The Dispossessed in 1974. One can argue that the community of Anarres was in inspired by the
social movements of the late 1960 s and early seventies. The civil rights movement, the feminist
movement, the environmental movement, and the 60 s counter culture or hippie values are all reflected
in the culture and society of Anarres.
Anarres is a society of anarchists. The society was formed after a revolution and war against the
centralized government and plutocracies of Urras. On Anarres every one was created equal because ...

Although refusing posting is met with great disapproval and rejection from their peers. An Anarrasti s
incentive to work is not a need for money, finances or the desire for profit but they take pride and
pleasure in completing tasks and working with others. A person likes to do what he is good at doing.
People take the dangerous, hard jobs because they take pride in doing them, they can egoize (they call
it) or show off to the weaker. Its is the opinion of they neighbor that becomes the all mighty driving
force. The private and social conscience knows that, there is no other reward, on Anarres, no law. One
s own pleasure, and the respect of one s fellows, that is all they have.
This relationship between the individual and society is later recognized as the bureaucratic machine
(centralized government) that these Anarchists fight against. The Anarresian people can not refuse a
posting (order by PDC) because they are ashamed. The social conscience completely dominates the
individual conscience, in stead of striking a balance. We don t cooperate we obey. We fear being
outcast, being called lazy, dysfunctional, eoizing, as Shevek once pointed out, We fear our neighbors

Merrill s arguments in The Professionalization of Journalism against professionalizing journalism
What is a profession? The Oxford English Dictionary defines professions as that way of life/manner of
making a living that involves the application of a specialized knowledge of particular subjects, field,
or science to fee paying clientele. Examples of professions include nursing, architecture, medicine and
engineering.
Although journalism has some characteristics of a profession, for Merrill it cannot be considered a
profession due to the fact that journalists do not have a direct relationship with their clients, there are
no entry requirements and they do not follow a prescribed code of ethics or a standard way by which

For Wasserstrom, the lawyer client relationship is morally objectionable because it is a relationship
which the lawyer dominates allowing inevitably for a situation where the lawyer treats the client in
both an impersonal and a paternalistic fashion. He sees the lawyer as a professional, one that is
different from other professionals. He sees this profession to be more vulnerable to moral criticism
than any other.
In the Watergate affair, it was noted that most of the persons involved in the cover up were lawyers.
Wasserstrom proposes that it is not an accident, the fact that most of the characters involved belonged
to the legal profession; the fact is, lawyers see society through the eyes of one who understands the
labyrinth of legalities which made it rather easy for them to manipulate the affair and do what they
have done. For him, this was a good example of noting the intricacies of the lawyering profession,
particularly professionalism.
Wasserstrom holds that the core of the problem is professionalism and its role differentiated behavior.
Role differentiation refers to situations in which one s moral response will vary depending upon
whether one is acting in a personal capacity or in a professional, representative one. In one of his
examples, he illustrates that the way a parent would distribute assets among children who are strangers
would be morally different if it was being distributed among children whom they have reared and

How Is Rafael Trujillo Similar To Hitler
Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo, Hitler, the Holocaust and the Jews of Sosua
In the beginning of the nineteen thirties in the midst of the Great Depression, General Rafael Trujillo
of the Dominican Republic and Adolf Hitler of Germany, both came into power. Their goals and the
way they tried to achieve them were somewhat similar.
Upon achieving power both crushed their opposition, ran their governments as dictatorships and
persecuted various classes of people.
General Trujillo rose from obscurity. After the Dominican Government defaulted on its debt to North
American creditors in 1905, Washington assumed control of their custom houses, and garnished their
receipts. When political instability occurred in 1916, the United States put the Dominican Republic
under military occupation, which lasted till 1924. During that period of time the United States Marines
created a modern army which was meant to discourage unrest. Trujillo joined the National Guard in
1918 and trained with the United States Marines. Trujillo impressed the recruiters and won promotion

On the other hand, after hundreds of years, our dear ancestors, whom I m so thankful for, stumbled
upon this idea that practicality of life in earth is supposed to be our priority instead of worrying so
much about this vague idea of the afterlife. They basically started the idea of YOLO (You Only Live

thankful for. They were also infatuated with simple geometry, precise symmetry, and the system of
proportion The Golden Mean, just like in ancient Romans. They badly wanted to revive the ancient
Roman architecture that they stuck with one specific style unlike the Medieval period. In addition,
since the religious dogma is not the main law of land anymore, structures built during the Renaissance
period were able to flexibly embody these characteristics without further problems. Many structures
were built for wealthy families, such as the Medicis, to show off their influence. As a result, the
aesthetics of the buildings became the priority instead. The structure of the building was still very

In the beginning of the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet when Juliet is first introduced, she is

willing to love. She even confesses her love to Romeo on her balcony by saying, Take all myself

Romeo, she was uninterested in marriage, It is an honor that I dream not of. (1.3.66). Juliet had said
this to her mother, Lady Capulet, when the general topic of marriage was being discussed. But after

The Necessity Of Careful Environmental Scanning Essay
Every successful organization uses the five management functions; but not many can compare with
the United States Armed Forces. I am currently serving in the United States Air Force and this
organization has effectively applied the five management functions, because its existence depends on
those five functions. From the initial planning to the final execution steps, we perform all five
functions in our day to day operations in flawless manners and pride ourselves in the job well done.
The Air Force is constantly engaging in the five management functions; their operations are well led,
organized, carefully planned, staffed, and constantly evaluated. I do not believe there is any
organization other than the military where you would see these five functions linking so well
coordinated. Planning
Planning is a systematic process in which managers make decisions about future activities and the key
goals that the organization will pursue. The necessity of careful environmental scanning has an
immediate impact on planning processes (Reilly, Minnick, and Baack, 2011, sec. 7.2). Making plans
for future activities is one of the Air Force s key functions; without planning its subordinate
commands would deteriorate and lose focus on mission objectives and the quality of work. In the Air
Force each career field has a different method for planning depending on the mission. I find the

The Foundation Of The Roman Culture Essay
Nathaniel Spina HIST 103 T/R 3:50 5:15 History Question #2 Question 1 The foundation of the
Roman culture had a strong Etruscan influence due to their taking control of Rome circa 650 BC. The
Etruscans transformed Rome into an actual, functioning city through urban planning and civil
engineering projects. Although the Etruscans were hostile in their take over, the Romans would not
have accomplished what they did alone. It was not until circa 500 BC that Rome successfully shook
off Etruscan rule. Once they were free, the Romans established a republic, a form of government also
to be used by many countries later. Rome set up a constitution consisting of a senate, consuls and
tribunes. The Roman senate became the most powerful governing body. Rather than advising the head
of state, it elected the chief executives, called consuls. Consuls were ordinary magistrates that had the
authority to command a military force. Tribune was a title given to various officers within the Roman
army. Rome waged war on its neighboring cities. In order to defend themselves against the Etruscan
cities, the cities of Latium allied to defend each other in an alliance called the Latin League.
Eventually, the Romans were able to conquer their most dangerous early rival, the city of Veii.
However, they were setback soon after when the Gauls sacked Rome. After the sack, the Romans
recovered and continued their conquests with a bigger, better army. Rome and the Latin League next

Singer s Principle Of Equality
Singer s principle of equality is the equal, impartial consideration of all like interests (Singer, p. 20). It
is a non factual principle that presents an ideal, normative approach, rather than reflecting how the
world actually looks. It relates to racism as it is the neglect of the interests of a race, or the
prioritisation of a race that leads to racist policies (Study Guide, p. 63). Principle of equality would
require the interests are weighed impartially, and seeing as weighing interests based on race is as
arbitrary as hair colour or names and therefore irrelevant, it would eliminate much blatant racism.
Singer (p. 27)holds even if different averages in IQ among different races were found, it wouldn t
result in different treatment as intelligence doesn t affect basic human interests. This doesn t rule all
forms of racism, interests based on beliefs and statements, or attitudes and emotions are still
considered (Study guide, p. 58). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How can Warranty and Contract Management benefit the Government Customer?
The management of warranty and contracts is a key aspect of procurement both for the government
and the contractors. While there are numerous advantages of maintaining an effective contract system,
some of the key benefits include; tracking, contract vendors and their contact details, and knowing the
assets covered under the contracts. It also assists in maintaining the profiles of all the client contracts
under a single space.
The primary benefit of warranty and contract management is the reduction of administrative overhead
costs. Hoskisson Hitt (2008) explain that, with a centralized log of assets and contracts, the misuse of
resources is heavily minimized, thus giving the management an opportunity to allocate resources
where they are needed. Further, this translates into immediate savings of costs for the government
customer owing to the decommissioning of outdated machines off the contracts and

marry so they could both travel abroad. They planned a fictitious marriage whereby a man would
agree to the marriage ceremony, but would then let the woman pursue her own life. This was not an
unusual arrangement at the time since it was the only way to free a woman from her parents authority.
The sisters decided that Anna should partake in the fictitious marriage since she was older. However,
when the intended husband, nihilist Vladimir Onufrievich Kovalevsky, a publisher of political and
scientific works, met the sisters, he was more interested in Sonya because of her intellectual
achievements. They got married in September of 1868and settled down in St. Petersburg. Sonya
continued her lessons in math but also sat in on classes at the Medical Surgical academy. There she
befriended a women who had started her own gynecological practice, but Sonya s briefly entertained

intrinsic advantage, typically related to their technology and brand recognition, which gave them a
competitive advantage in offshore markets (Bartlett Beamish, 2014).
Competitive positioning: the most controversial of the many global competitive strategic actions taken
by MNEs...have been those base on cross subsidization of markets (Bartlett Beamish, 2014).

Professionalism Is Defined As Work Place Behaviors
To remain productive and successful in the workplace, an individual must maintain a superior level of
professionalism. Professionalism is defined as work place behaviors that result in positive business
relationships. In the How Do You Rate assessments, all of my results showed a clear understanding in
business etiquette. To put in my own words what professionalism means to me, it is your ability to
demonstrate yourself in an appropriate, responsible, goal determined manner, while working
respectively and alongside your business community. Your professionalism is presented by you and
interpreted by others. The projections you portray to others can increase/decrease the value of your
input in the workplace. I have developed an action plan that will guide myself to achieve the highest
professionalism possible. I decided to call my brother up to ask his input on professionalism. Jason is
a graduate from Georgetown University with a finance major. He is currently working for a
commercial real estate finance company in Washington D.C. and is blessed with a great job and great
opportunities . I asked him how he defines professionalism, and he answered, Professionalism is who
you are within the company, and how your values are perceived by others. I told him about my paper
and he mentioned to speak on the proper attitude to have, the appearance to show, the communication
skills to have, and the motivation to achieve your goals. The first step in the direction of
professionalism

The History Of Social Work
The history of social work demonstrates how statutory and voluntary agencies adapted to the changing
social conditions and increasing societal problems as a result of influence of industrialization and
urbanization (Red). Social and economic changes such as the Black Death that severed the British
populations, the closure of common land for self profit in the 1530s, and unrest and riots during the
1700s left many people in need alone and without care from their families (lecture). Industrialization
and urbanization created a widespread movement toward cities, separation over wealth and classes,
and caused challenges which established systems of care could not longer cope with (lecture). During
the late 16th century, the population in the United Kingdom increased by 25% and widespread famine
contributed to the increasing poverty rate, which called for a new system of help for the poor (black).
Over almost a 400 year period, poor laws were established in the United Kingdom to provide
systematic help for those facing poverty.
Within the United Kingdom, there was a division of approaches to address rising social problems
(lecture). England and Whales created the Elizabethan Poor Law Act of 1601 to classify the poor into
categories and allocate responsibility of care and control for these classifications. The poor law
separated those who could not work versus those who would not work in three ways: the impotent
poor , the aged, chronically sick, or mentally ill; the able bodied poor , those who could work but didn
t; and the able bodied poor who absconded or refused work (red). The impotent poor were housed in
voluntary institutions under the care of parishes and churches whereas the able bodied poor were sent
to statutory workhouses or house of correction punishment facilities (red). The Poor Law Act of 1601
sought to make a distinction between individuals who were poor by no fault of their own and
individuals who were to blame for there poverty, and thus putting them in the care of either the state or
private sectors (red).
Workhouses were some of the most inhumane aspects of history and a dark space in the public
imagination (red). Under public authority, these institutions had harsh conditions,

Groan Group Observation
Through the observation, I hardly saw any progression through the Groan Zone and I assume that is
because this group has been meeting once a week for about 10 years and while they may face
misunderstanding or miscommunication they have worked though enough of it that they have a solid
foundation of shared understanding and the collective thought processes of their teammates. The
group did in fact progress through the Divergent and Convergent Zones. At some points, they seemed
to work through both zones at the same time. For example, while generating a list of ideas they made
sure to summarize the key points of their ideas. After this step they not only looked for the conflicting
issues between their ideas but they could come to agreement on which brainstormed ideas would work
and which ones were forgettable. Finally, the last point that they processed through was exercising
judgment. This process was interesting to observe. First off, it was difficult to observe and not
comment on their ideas and secondly, I could notice the sensitivity when giving the judgment. No one
wanted to sound harsh when giving their feedback. Which I found was a smart option since they work
together daily. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, I noticed the paraphrasing that was done by the facilitator. If anything, this was one of the most
used techniques. I think it was the dominate approach because she could create a new conversation
through paraphrasing and it stopped her from giving her input, while also giving her clarification on
an idea she might have been questionable about. Secondly, I noticed the facilitator using the drawing
out method. She realized my director was being silent and she managed to draw her out and add her

Participation Trophy Persuasive Speech
Participation Trophy
When you re dribbling down the court and suddenly lose the ball, do you think you should deserve a
participation award for that? I think they don t deserve a trophy because they are entitled to
everything, makes them feel special, and the hard workers receive the same trophy including first,
second, or third place. Even though you may have strived for the best of your ability without coming
on top, we still all want a trophy of some sort. Some of us have received a participation trophy of
some kind. The year is now 2017, and we all think want to be rewarded for doing the little things out
in the court. As one of my favorite song says We All Want What We Ain t Got, by Jake Owen. Because
we want everything in life, we hope that life just throws something amazing at us. In the world today,
that s all we want, and no one wants to put the effort in for trying to receive the 1st place ... Show

Again, this is something this generation feels that we should have trophies. We are known as the
millennials and we are entitled to everything, which this isn t a lie. The younger generation thinks that
we should have a participation trophy for everything that we ve done. This could be in sports like
basketball, or an extracurricular activity like quiz bowl. For coming in last place and didn t attempt
your best, do you still want that participation trophy? Since majority of the people think they deserve a
participation trophy, that s what they get. Money just goes to waste into buying these small trophies
for kids who think they deserved that medal. The money could be used for so much more, but instead
we just give it away. As in sports as well as life, it is a fact that there s room for only a select few on
the winners podium, Betty said. This is a great life lesson too, not just in sports, but in other events

Islam the Straight Path
Islam The Straight Path
An evaluation of the book by John L. Esposito: Islam The Straight Path.
In this book , Esposito provides a succinct, up to date survey of the Islamic experience, an
introduction to the faith, belief, and practice of Islam from its origins to its contemporary resurgence.
He traces the emergence and development of this dynamic faith and its impact on world history and
politics. He discusses the formation of Islamic belief and practice (law, theology, philosophy, and
mysticism), chronicling the struggle of Muslims to define and adhere to their Islamic way of life.
Equally important is the essential information Esposito provides on the contemporary world of Islam,

Coming to an end at the Muslims of Western Europe, the presence of Muslims in Europe is not a new
force, but a generation of siege and conquer. Over the years Ottomans and other missionaries have put
forward their idea of Islam in many parts of Europe, including Bosnia and Romania.
The Importance of Understanding Muslims and Islam:
Muslims and Islam are two related terms, at the same time different in its application. Let us first talk
about the importance of understanding the term Muslims. Muslims are people who belong to the
religion Islam. Muslims could act in various ways, presenting their actions differently, a Muslim from
India or South Africa. Another good example of a Muslim view would be, the performance of their
political and sect actions.
For example, Saidi Qutb of Egypt believed the west is corrupt in their actions and he has different
view of the West. The other example would be Saudi Arabia s acceptance of United States Forces to
land in the holy place of Islam and welcoming the west.
Our second question deals with the understanding of Islam. The message that this faith brings to the
world is important to understand that Islam claims the holy message of God, a force that has brought a
completion to the writings of the three holy books of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Islam is a
religion that has brought peace,

The Business Model Conceived By Ceo Michael O Leary
Introduction
Ryanair has long been the pioneer for low cost commercial air travel. The business model conceived
by CEO Michael O Leary affords the company much in the ways of agility and long term adaptability.
With the economic recovery of the European Union, new threats arise to challenge Ryanair such as an
emerging budget air carrier market, fluctuating fuel prices, and controversial customer relations.
Examined in this paper will be the internal cost accounting factors that affect the firm as well as an
analysis of Ryanair s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Environmental Threats (SWOT).
Through all of this many opportunities arise in the way of route expansion and capitalizing on existing
revenue. To understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many air carriers were denied use of the air space in another country simply due to nations holding a
strong opposition to commercial air competition. In 1986, Ryanair obtained permission to service the
airline s second route running from Dublin, Ireland to London Luton and compete directly with British
Airways. This permission was given by each host nation that had begun a progressive movement
towards the liberalization of air travel between European Union (EU) nation states.
From 1987 to 1990 Ryanair opened an additional 17 Routes and begins to emulate jet travel into the
route structure. However, during this period Ryan air continued to emulate the standard business
model due to continued fare regulation as well as a lack of innovation. Deregulation of air travel with
European Union members had not yet taken full effect, and thus led to continued high operating costs
and losses for Ryanair. Ryanair eliminated the frequent flyers program as well as no longer offering
business class which caused a continued increase in passenger traffic but still had the airline operating
at a loss. In 1987, Michael O Leary was hired by Tony Ryan as a tax and personal finance director. O
Leary was soon tasked with aiding in the restructuring of Ryanair in an effort to return the airline s
profitability. O Leary is a believer of a low fare

The Indian Reservation System
An Indian Reservation is a legal territory managed by a certain Native American tribe given to them,
with only partial sovereignty, by the United States government. Only 326 of the country s 567
recognized tribes were granted land, but even the land they were granted is not sufficient enough to
support a sustainable lifestyle. With no rights to their land, no sense of home, and a rapidly dying
culture, native americans have been dealt with in the worst ways possible after their own massacre and
consistently broken treaties. An analysis of the Indian reservation system in the US provides deeper
insight to the idea that the treatment of natives has left profound, long lasting negative impacts on the
lives of native Americans. BODY PARAGRAPH NUMBER 1: (PUT IN TOPIC SENTENCE) Some
officials in the early years of the American republic, such as President George Washington, believed
that the best way to solve this Indian problem was simply to civilize the Native Americans. The goal
of this civilization campaign was to make Native Americans as much like white Americans as possible
by encouraging them convert to Christianity, learn to speak and read English, and adopt European
style economic practices such as the individual ownership of land and other property (including, in
some instances in the South, African slaves). Analysis: This quote shows the urgency by the US
government to wipe out native culture during the start of the reservation system. Words used in this
quote such

Essay An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form
An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form Wideman s quotation from Brothers and Keepers could be
interpreted to say a number of different things. The interpretation I could make is no person could
explain the reason things are the way they are in life. In trying to come up with a logical answer they
dwell on it and it becomes even more confusing. Afterwards they settle upon the conclusion that
things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not have
the power to control their own destinies. They are simply a product of their own environments and the
events that make and shape them. John Edgar Wideman s Our Time is an essay ... Show more content

The epilogue helps me to kind of understand where John and Robby are coming from but still does not
justify their actions. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family member
died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas paint a
picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the death of
Robby s friend Garth in Robby s point of view. This is important because this is what sparks Robby s
behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how he views
Robby. He understands Robby s behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful things that
Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to accept that
Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John visits Robby
in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They decide to write a
book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby s story because he was
tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar in the hospital. Gar
seems very sick, he s stuck in a hospital bed. He was misdiagnosed by the doctors and dies because of
it. After the death of Gar, Robby turned into a hardcore gangster. He vowed to make it to the top of the
street world . This was his own choice. No one told him he had to

industry. Kudler Fine Foods has planned on contracting with local growers to obtain their produce and
now they want to add a catering service. Before they can do so, they must run the possibility fully

Also they can have a wide array of choices since they do not have to keep large quantities of all items
in stock. They should also offer a little flexibility to the customer by letting them bring some idea into
the catering service that they may have, or have seen some other place. This will show that they are
interested in the needs of the customer as well as offering them goods and services for profit. This
ultimately could be a way of marketing research that helps the company stayed informed on the
introduction of new products in the industry. Also Kudler needs to make sure that their prices stay
competitive to other catering services in the area. They can offer services that may result in a higher
fee; for example it will cost more to have the meal prepared by a celebrity chef. They should be
flexible with the costs offering different meals at different costs to the customer. It cannot be stressed
enough that Kudler needs to focus on staying competitive since this is a new service that will be added
and they do not have the reputation of some other catering companies in the area. Kudler also needs to
decide if they will start off as a small caterer only doing small parties or will they do banquets and
weddings. The difference in the location is the staffing that they will have to offer at the events as well
as the staffing it

  • 2. Netflix Satire Examples Of Satire In the Netflix mockumentary series, American vandal, made by Dan Perrault, the main character Dylan Maxwell, an 18 year old senior at Hanover High School was held responsible for performing vandalism on 27 cars causing $100K worth of disfiguring. Everybody believed that Dylan was in charge of the destruction, despite the fact that he claimed innocence. Instead, they thought Alex Trimboli, the eyewitness, Ms Shapiro, the Spanish teacher and everyone else that claimed he was behind the vandalism were speaking the truth. They put Dylan as the prime suspect based on his past with Ms Shapiro and furthermore because they believed he was capable of committing such crime. The thesis of the show is never to prejudge a person based on their past. That may sound as cliche as it appears to be yet the accompanying procedures used to shape the show will enable one to see how under the circumstances this might be viewed as a cliche thesis. The examples of satire that the creators used were humour, exaggeration and irony. A diversion was utilised to make the show enjoyable for young people, yet with the use of satire, they could influence teenagers to appreciate the show while accepting a genuine message about how a false allegation against anyone could destroy their lives. Many of the people in the show were biased against rebellious teenagers which was something that Dylan was known for being. In the mockumentary, Dylan Maxwell was accused based off his image, his past, as well as his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Claude Monet Research Paper The Water lily s Claude Monet Has been a big interest of mine after last summer. Last summer I traveled to Pairs and was super exited to see the Monet s garden on my journey. This was one of the best days in my travel to see this Monet s garden and house. After touring the garden I was astonished by the view. When I toured Claude Monet s house I was interested in him as an artist and wanted to know more about him. His paintings and garden were beautiful, breathtaking, and I enjoyed every minute that I spent there. Claude oscar Monet was born in Laffitte in Pairs on November 14th 1840. His parents were Adolphe and Louise Justine Aubrée Monet, His mother was a singer and father was a grocery store owner. On April 18 Claude was accepted in to the secondary art school of Le Havre. He became known for his charcoal drawings that he sold for money and took a class for drawing. Though is time working with drawing he meet artist Eugène Boudin, which became his mentor. I have also seen a number of Claude paintings in his house, not only did he paint landscape and seascapes he also painted his wife, and so much other important paintings to him. Claude was a very brilliant painter that loved flowers and nature. Researching and reading about the different paintings takes me back to the garden and his house looking at all the magnificent art works. His work is extraordinaire to me and I believe that anyone that is interested in art, loves art, or just loves flowers should go to his house and garden in Pairs if they ever got the chance. • 4. Play, By Marc Leblanc When describing the characteristics of play, Huizinga (1995) pointed out that engaging in the activity of play is not essential, yet engaging in the act of play is a voluntary activity. It is an activity that can start and stop at any time and often carried out during leisure time. He also mentioned that play only gets urgent when the enjoyment of play becomes a need. Thus, playing is enjoyable. Games are compelling because it provides players several uses such as allowing players to pass time, to procrastinate, to cheer oneself up or to play just for enjoyment (Phillips et al. 1995). As an entertainment source, games allow people to enter a world of fantasy and escape the boredom of reality (Sherry 2004). Games are compelling because it ... Goals are a stimulus in games which motivates players to interact with the game system further and furthermore. These goals could be an explicit win state, a set of victory conditions or smaller goals that adds up to the bigger objective in the game. Goals could be in numerical form such as getting the highest score or in status form such as the development of a city. On the other hand, there are games that have no explicit winning conditions. These are usually sand box games like Grand Theft Auto V or simulation games like The Sims series, whereby players have a wide variety of goals to choose from or a wide variety of possibilities to play with. Therefore, games are goal directed interactions that involves decision making (Costikyan 2002), that are up to the player s discretion and the system of the game. Games are compelling this way because each gameplay of the same game will be dfferent.... To make achieving goals in games a little more challenging for the players, games have the element of struggle to make things interesting. Denniston Faith and Critical Reasoning Chapter 1 The French Revolution was one of the first instances were the ideas of atheism were made public. The Revolution led many of the clergy to be expelled from the state or killed. After the Fall of Berlin Wall, atheism declined in popularity. Russian Revolution continued what French Revolution started. People began to speak of atheism outside of their own homes. The classical version of atheism is vastly different than the atheism that is known today. Some consider modern atheism as one of the greatest achievements of human intellect. Swinburne was more avant garde and aggressive in his approach to spreading atheism. He visualized god as a birch wielding tyrant that oppresses humanity. Swineburne believed that only the rejection of God would open the way to human self fulfillment. By the middle of the Nineteenth Century Jesus was seen as a moral sage, or as a role model. George Tyrrell was appalled that Jesus was seen as less captivating, but conceded that the Christ was a pale reflection of his biblical self. Chapter 6 Dostoyevsky was a Russian novelist that wrote on a fictional Russia that turned to atheism to solve its problems. While he showed attractive of that choice, he also presented some of its more troubling features. His criticisms were directed more toward the world God supposedly created, more than critiquing God himself. Nietzsche emphasized that the belief in the Christian God became unbelievable. Nietzsche admits that the realization that God is dead will travel slowly because it is just too unthinkable . For nihilism, a religious worldview is oppressive because it insists that we will be held accountable for our actions. In a nihilistic view, there are no sins, because nothing matters in the end. Albert Camus argued that human life is rendered meaningless by death, which prevents the individual from making sense of existence. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our Love Now by Martyn Lowery both see men trying to use methods of persuasion to get what they want. How successful are they? I have recently studied To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, written in the 17th Century and Our Love Now by Martyn Lowery, written in the 19th century. Attitudes to love have changed a lot since the 17th Century. When To His Coy Mistress was written, men were in charge of the relationship. It would take a lot longer for this relationship to progress than it would today. The man would court the woman for months before anything progressed. He would write her letters and poems, and then eventually, if he loved her, he would ask her to marry him. They ... It is a modern poem about love. Marvell uses different methods of persuasions. He bombards her as the poem is very long and has no stanzas, so she has to keep reading and listening to his arguments. He has also divided the poem into three sections. The first section is about him romancing and flattering her. He shows his love for her by using time, place and exaggeration. Had we but world enough, and time / This coyness, lady, were no crime. shows Marvell using time. He is telling the woman that if they had all the time in the world her shyness would not matter. They by the Indian Ganges side / Should st rubies find: I by the tide / Of Humber would complain. This shows Marvell using place and distance to persuade her. He tells her that she could sit by the Indian Ganges, and he would sit by the Humber in England and wish for her. He then goes on to say, that if she wishes; she can keep him at arms length, and that his feelings will wait until she is ready. This makes her feel that he is not pressuring her in to anything she does not want to do. Marvell uses a lot of exaggeration, for example I would / Love you ten years before the flood.. According to science, the Keirsey Temperament Test should be one of the the most correct personality tests crafted. After taking three various personality tests in my English class, the True Colors, the Keirsey, and the Tibetan test, I surmised that the Keirsey Temperament Test was the most exact regarding my character and attributes. It was especially valid in extrapolating that I am very dependable, thorough, and serious. Some may claim that science cannot tell you who you are, because it is our emotions that rein us. Overall, though the other tests were somewhat precise; this one most reflected my personality. Firstly, this test was correct because it stated that I persevere and am a dependable person. This was incorrect for I value my career highly and do not value pride above other things. • 11. How Is Anarres A Utopian Society To answer the question, How is the utopian society Anarres structured, one can attack it at many ways. First one can look at the cultural context of the time period in which the novel was written. LeGuin wrote The Dispossessed in 1974. One can argue that the community of Anarres was in inspired by the social movements of the late 1960 s and early seventies. The civil rights movement, the feminist movement, the environmental movement, and the 60 s counter culture or hippie values are all reflected in the culture and society of Anarres. Anarres is a society of anarchists. The society was formed after a revolution and war against the centralized government and plutocracies of Urras. On Anarres every one was created equal because ... Its is the opinion of they neighbor that becomes the all mighty driving force. The private and social conscience knows that, there is no other reward, on Anarres, no law. One s own pleasure, and the respect of one s fellows, that is all they have. This relationship between the individual and society is later recognized as the bureaucratic machine (centralized government) that these Anarchists fight against. The Anarresian people can not refuse a posting (order by PDC) because they are ashamed. The social conscience completely dominates the individual conscience, in stead of striking a balance. The Oxford English Dictionary defines professions as that way of life/manner of making a living that involves the application of a specialized knowledge of particular subjects, field, or science to fee paying clientele. Examples of professions include nursing, architecture, medicine and engineering. Although journalism has some characteristics of a profession, for Merrill it cannot be considered a profession due to the fact that journalists do not have a direct relationship with their clients, there are no entry requirements and they do not follow a prescribed code of ethics or a standard way by which their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Wasserstrom, the lawyer client relationship is morally objectionable because it is a relationship which the lawyer dominates allowing inevitably for a situation where the lawyer treats the client in both an impersonal and a paternalistic fashion. He sees the lawyer as a professional, one that is different from other professionals. He sees this profession to be more vulnerable to moral criticism than any other. In the Watergate affair, it was noted that most of the persons involved in the cover up were lawyers. Wasserstrom proposes that it is not an accident, the fact that most of the characters involved belonged to the legal profession; the fact is, lawyers see society through the eyes of one who understands the labyrinth of legalities which made it rather easy for them to manipulate the affair and do what they have done. For him, this was a good example of noting the intricacies of the lawyering profession, particularly professionalism. Wasserstrom holds that the core of the problem is professionalism and its role differentiated behavior. Role differentiation refers to situations in which one s moral response will vary depending upon whether one is acting in a personal capacity or in a professional, representative one. In one of his examples, he illustrates that the way a parent would distribute assets among children who are strangers would be morally different if it was being distributed among children whom they have reared and ... How Is Rafael Trujillo Similar To Hitler Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo, Hitler, the Holocaust and the Jews of Sosua In the beginning of the nineteen thirties in the midst of the Great Depression, General Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic and Adolf Hitler of Germany, both came into power. Their goals and the way they tried to achieve them were somewhat similar. Upon achieving power both crushed their opposition, ran their governments as dictatorships and persecuted various classes of people. General Trujillo rose from obscurity. After the Dominican Government defaulted on its debt to North American creditors in 1905, Washington assumed control of their custom houses, and garnished their receipts. When political instability occurred in 1916, the United States put the Dominican Republic under military occupation, which lasted till 1924. They basically started the idea of YOLO (You Only Live Once). Not only that, they also became obsessed with science and reasoning, another thing I m oh so thankful for. They were also infatuated with simple geometry, precise symmetry, and the system of proportion The Golden Mean, just like in ancient Romans. They badly wanted to revive the ancient Roman architecture that they stuck with one specific style unlike the Medieval period. In addition, since the religious dogma is not the main law of land anymore, structures built during the Renaissance period were able to flexibly embody these characteristics without further problems. Many structures were built for wealthy families, such as the Medicis, to show off their influence. As a result, the aesthetics of the buildings became the priority instead. • 16. The Necessity Of Careful Environmental Scanning Essay Every successful organization uses the five management functions; but not many can compare with the United States Armed Forces. I am currently serving in the United States Air Force and this organization has effectively applied the five management functions, because its existence depends on those five functions. From the initial planning to the final execution steps, we perform all five functions in our day to day operations in flawless manners and pride ourselves in the job well done. The Air Force is constantly engaging in the five management functions; their operations are well led, organized, carefully planned, staffed, and constantly evaluated. I do not believe there is any organization other than the military where you would see these five functions linking so well coordinated. Planning Planning is a systematic process in which managers make decisions about future activities and the key goals that the organization will pursue. The necessity of careful environmental scanning has an immediate impact on planning processes (Reilly, Minnick, and Baack, 2011, sec. 7.2). Making plans for future activities is one of the Air Force s key functions; without planning its subordinate commands would deteriorate and lose focus on mission objectives and the quality of work. • 17. The Foundation Of The Roman Culture Essay Nathaniel Spina HIST 103 T/R 3:50 5:15 History Question #2 Question 1 The foundation of the Roman culture had a strong Etruscan influence due to their taking control of Rome circa 650 BC. The Etruscans transformed Rome into an actual, functioning city through urban planning and civil engineering projects. Although the Etruscans were hostile in their take over, the Romans would not have accomplished what they did alone. It was not until circa 500 BC that Rome successfully shook off Etruscan rule. Once they were free, the Romans established a republic, a form of government also to be used by many countries later. Rome set up a constitution consisting of a senate, consuls and tribunes. The Roman senate became the most powerful governing body. Rather than advising the head of state, it elected the chief executives, called consuls. Consuls were ordinary magistrates that had the authority to command a military force. Tribune was a title given to various officers within the Roman army. Rome waged war on its neighboring cities. In order to defend themselves against the Etruscan cities, the cities of Latium allied to defend each other in an alliance called the Latin League. Eventually, the Romans were able to conquer their most dangerous early rival, the city of Veii. However, they were setback soon after when the Gauls sacked Rome. After the sack, the Romans recovered and continued their conquests with a bigger, better army. Rome and the Latin League next waged war against the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a non factual principle that presents an ideal, normative approach, rather than reflecting how the world actually looks. It relates to racism as it is the neglect of the interests of a race, or the prioritisation of a race that leads to racist policies (Study Guide, p. 63). Principle of equality would require the interests are weighed impartially, and seeing as weighing interests based on race is as arbitrary as hair colour or names and therefore irrelevant, it would eliminate much blatant racism. • 23. The History Of Social Work The history of social work demonstrates how statutory and voluntary agencies adapted to the changing social conditions and increasing societal problems as a result of influence of industrialization and urbanization (Red). Social and economic changes such as the Black Death that severed the British populations, the closure of common land for self profit in the 1530s, and unrest and riots during the 1700s left many people in need alone and without care from their families (lecture). Industrialization and urbanization created a widespread movement toward cities, separation over wealth and classes, and caused challenges which established systems of care could not longer cope with (lecture). During the late 16th century, the population in the United Kingdom increased by 25% and widespread famine contributed to the increasing poverty rate, which called for a new system of help for the poor (black). Over almost a 400 year period, poor laws were established in the United Kingdom to provide systematic help for those facing poverty. Within the United Kingdom, there was a division of approaches to address rising social problems (lecture). England and Whales created the Elizabethan Poor Law Act of 1601 to classify the poor into categories and allocate responsibility of care and control for these classifications. The poor law separated those who could not work versus those who would not work in three ways: the impotent poor , the aged, chronically sick, or mentally ill; the able bodied poor , those who could work but didn t; and the able bodied poor who absconded or refused work (red). The impotent poor were housed in voluntary institutions under the care of parishes and churches whereas the able bodied poor were sent to statutory workhouses or house of correction punishment facilities (red). The Poor Law Act of 1601 sought to make a distinction between individuals who were poor by no fault of their own and individuals who were to blame for there poverty, and thus putting them in the care of either the state or private sectors (red). The group did in fact progress through the Divergent and Convergent Zones. At some points, they seemed to work through both zones at the same time.
