Review of a live piece of theatre
Introduction:We went to see the Blood Brothers on the 23rd of May at the Phoenix Theatre. The
plot of the story was that there were two twins separated at birth. One of the twins grows up in a
middle class house hold. The other one in a working class house hold we see the different ways in
which they grow up and the clothes that they wear are different. The play examines the issue of
social in Britain.
Structure: The plot was structured at the begging there was a death scene of the two twins the rest

gob shone waves on to the gauze the effect of this was that he stayed was a sad place a scary
place to be the river of blood but the river is not really all blood it s the death of the Johnston
Twins. The Atmosphere it created was like death it made you feel sad and interested on what was
going to happen.
The sounds that they made was a lot effective like when Sammy wanted him do the robbery and
when they ran away the music then was very effective. The music was effective when there was
sad thing going on like when the was depressed the music was put on at the right time.
The narrator always dressed in black the black that the narrator dressed represented the death of the
Johnston twins. The audience could see him but the characters on stage could not see him and he
could moved all around the stage, also explained each scene when it finished. The narrator made the
part more interacting and understanding by explaining what has happening.
The conclusion: I think the play was very good because you

My 5 Significant Events Of The Canadian Elections Act
My 5 significant events i have chosen for my Canada 150 is Canada Elections Act, The stock
market crash, Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission, The adoption of the new flag, and
Canadian Bill of Rights and freedoms . And My top 3 hits i will be talking about later are about
The Canadian Charter of Rights, Viola Desmond , and Agnes Macphail
The Canada Elections Act is an election that is held ever since 1917 to allow all citizens of
Canada to vote for whom they want to represent their country and govern them. Permitting all
citizens the ability to be able to take part in their country and choose the best one they think is

This law also has more updated rights than the previous one ensuring everyone in Canada to have a
safe environment to live in. canadian charter of rights and freedoms is important to be understood
today because first of all this law still exists which means it has been acknowledged by many
people and nobody had a problem with it. second it sets out civil rights Canadians believe are
necessary in a free and democratic society resulting in everybody being able to take part of it
since they are canadian citizens. The historical significance fits into this because: As a result of
this law it had affected many people: ex Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in
and leave Canada is one of the acts. This insures that everyone is equal.
Viola Desmond was a Black Nova Scotian who was strained of racial segregation at a film
theatre in New Glasgowa. Viola was important and still is through her actions even though she
had passed away because she had stood up for herself when racism was involved. Viola is
important to understanding Canada since she is canadian herself and also her acts provided
inspiration to a later generation of Black persons in Nova Scotia and in the rest of Canada. As a
result of this incidence it had made an significant overview throughout time because slowly viola
got well known for standing up for herself since she was black and people

Analysis Of The Grand Vienna Hotel
Director Wes Anderson and writer Stefan Zweig come together to bring this epic adventure to
life. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a narrative driven master piece of cinema set in 1932. Mr.
Gustave played by Ralph Fiennes, is a legendary concierge who befriends a new lobby boy Zero
played by Tony Revolori. Gustave and Zero set out on an adventure together after his love
Madame D. is found murdered. Anderson has come a long way since his short filmBottle Rocket,
but the success of that movie at the Sundance Film Festivalset him on a path to greatness. Andersons
continued success is contributed to his cinematography style. Let me say experiencing all of Wes
Andersons body of works, this is by far my favorite film to date. I was mesmerized by the Grand
Budapest Hotel itself, as one of the prominent center points the hotel shines. Anderson takes his
acclaimed cinematography style and makes the hotel a shining star. Every frame features
architecture and color pallet of soft oranges, pinks, and yellows bringing about a certain look of
luxury. One camera trick I found I was the use of windows, hallways, and doors in every scene,
and camera positions taking full advantage of those spaces and shapes. The story moves from the
hotel where Zero is learning his day to day duties as a lobby boy. The death of Gustave friend is
seen in the newspaper, and the adventure begins. The tight close shots on board the train, while the
narrator updates the story, keeps the audience in suspense. The

Christmas Cookie Research Paper
History of the Christmas Cookie
Before Christmas brought its traditions into the world, ancient cooks baked sweets for different
occasions. In the Middle Ages, Europeans started cooking cookies for Christmas. Christmas cookies
were defined by cut outs and molds brought over to Europe by the Dutch. The first American
Christmas cookie is documented by Amelia Simmons, who wrote American Cookery. The very
first cookey had flour, coriander seed, butter, sugar, pearlash and milk. A far cry from what
Americans have come to know and love as the Christmas Cookie.
By 1924, the ingredients had started to change to what Americans know as butter, eggs, sugar, flour
and milk. In most cases, nuts were added into the mixture to bring in a Bohemian fill ... Show more

Using a mixing bowl, mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract, almond extract and eggs until
completely blended. Stir in flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Cover and put into refrigerater
for at least three hours. Once dough is chilled, cut the dough in half. Roll out the first half then the
second half to 3/16 inch thick.
Preheat over to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the cookies with the cookie cutters and lay onto a non
stick cookie sheet. While the cookies are baking for 7 to 8 minutes, make the frosting. Beat
powdered sugar, vanilla and milk together until the ingredients become smooth, not runny. Once
cookies are done, decorate with frosting, springs and sugars.
Conclusion
Although cookies have developed from ancient times, the tradition is still in place. People love
to cook cookies and share a well honed recipe with a friend. Today, bakers can find recipes all

Why Bother By Michael Pollen
In the article, Why Bother written by Michael Pollen, he explains how the environment has
gotten very bad over time. He talks about sustainability, global warming, and the cheap energy
mind in his article. He tells us that we need to act now before the phenomenon gets worse. Have
you paid attention to the environment lately? Have you noticed the rising temperature around
the world? Have you noticed the melting of the ice caps? If you haven t you are about to be in
for a surprise. The world has gotten very bad and we need to act now. There are a lot of causes to
the environmental problems. The main cause are from farmers all around the world. Farmers are
a lot more technologically advanced then what they were 50 years ago compared to now. The
problem with the farmers are the overuse of energy, erosion of the soil, and pollution. The answer
to all of these problems is sustainable agriculturebecause it is more efficient and better for the
environment.
What is sustainable agriculture? Sustainable agriculture is an alternative for solving fundamental
and applied issues related to food production in an ecological way. Sustainable agriculture
integrates three main goals environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic
equity (Kaushik 92). Energy conservation is a huge controversy around the world. There is too
much energy being wasted and people are not caring enough to fix this problem. To fix this
problem we need to turn to renewable energy resources.

Research On Vigilance And Sustained Attention
Introduction:
Studies on vigilance and sustained attention have been a widely studied part of psychology since
the Second World War. This is because it was found that people monitoring radars for enemy ships
experienced what is now known as vigilance decrement. That is when the ability of a subject to
detect an abnormality during a task which primarily displays a normal screen. In the case of WWII
radar monitors, this was to detect when an enemy submarine entered the radar. (Helton, W. S.
Russell, P. N. (2012). ) After a short time, typically 20 30 minutes but in certain cases as little as 5
minutes, vigilance decrement can occur. (Caggio, D. M., Parasuraman, R. (2004)). There are two
main theories commonly cited to explain this phenomenon, mindless theory and resource theory.
Resource theory says that the vigilance decrement is due to the exhaustion of brain resources
required to maintain focus on the task. Mindless theory simply explains vigilance depletion as
being caused by disengagement from the task due to boredom. (Helton, W. S. Russell, P. N.
(2012).) The two theories explain the same phenomenon much differently; resource theory says it
s caused in part by cognitive overload, while mindless theory suggests it s caused by cognitive
under load causing boredom. (Helton, W. S., Russell, P. N. (2015)). Resource theory is strongly
supported by a wide array of evidence from behavioural studies, mental workload studies, and brain
imaging studies. When the

Coral Away Essay
The play Away by Michael Gow shoes the character of Coral to be in need of change in her
distinctive world. Discuss how this applies to the play.
Michael Gow s play Away presents Coral as a character that is in urgent need to undergo profound
change. At the introduction of the play, Coral is introduced to the audience as an emotionally
unstable and isolated character. Through the use of stage directions, Coral doesn t respond , it is
clear that Coral is in her own distinctive world and alienated from society unable to deal with the
real world. However, at the conclusion of the play, Coral is presented to be no longer absorbed in
her own grief by being able to finally accept her son s death and express her emotions with her
husband, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the scene, we view Coral engaging in conversation with Leonie, another
resident at the Hotel. The dialogue reveals a conversation that is unstable and awkward. Coral
starts to become overpowering and questioning by asking, Isn t hard making contact with other
people in this kind of place? Everyone s enjoying themselves but, I don t know, I feel it s a bit
forced, do you feel that? Are you really enjoying yourself? Or are you only pretending. To please
your husband, perhaps? The stage directions allow the audience to see that Leonie is almost in
tears and asks Why are you staring like that? Coral ignores her questions and remarks and continues
to question the woman. Corals language is clichГ© and proves she is still not coping. Coral
starts to scare Leonie where she says Let me go, please, I want to go reinforcing Corals inability
to make contact and communicate with other people and her lack of social skills. Rather than
talking to the woman she starts to override the conversation and become overwhelming revealing
her isolation and alienation. Coral continues to ignore the woman s pleads to leave and Leonie
begins to struggle and starts crying sobbing, I want to go in. I m hungry. Let me go . This shows
Coral is unable to concentrate on her own issues and decides to force herself upon someone else s
problems in order to take away her own pain.
Coral then meets another important character named Rick. Rick uses short sentences and

Summary Of Tom Wright s PlayBlack Diggers
Tom Wright demonstrated through his play Black Diggers the harsh reality of the treatment of
indigenous Australian during the time of World War 1. Black Diggers captured the exclusion, the
violence and loss of opportunities faced by the Indigenous Australians. Australia 100 years on still
shows similar hostilities towards Aboriginal individuals, some movement has been may towards
Aboriginals being equal but still not much meaningful change has occurred.
Wright demonstrates the limit opportunity that the Indigenous people had for their inherited land.
The land that they owned was taken over by the white Europeans and called Australia a name never
heard of in the Aboriginal community. Wright demonstrated that the land was taken over, and they
had no choice in the decision they had to live with the choice. Furthermore Wright empathised their
unpresented land right when presenting the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act of 1917 , the
public servant had the authority to acquire land of the Indigenous without giving them a choice you
can t just take the land off us , however the reality is that they could. Wright also demonstrated that
Indigenous servicemen couldn t apply for land in the same way white servicemen could. The
viewers of the play are presented with the harsh reality of what the white individuals could take
from the Aboriginals without them be able to defend themselves eliciting a sense of sadness and
reject of the treatment towards them. On the other

(AI) of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Mr. Vlasek first arrived at the AI in 1995
as a student working towards becoming a professional pilot. However, Mr. Vlasek soon found

aviation. It was at this point he decided to make a career in some sort of leadership position in the
aviation field. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Mr. Vlasek accepted a position as a

The AI is a relatively small group within the larger organization of the College of Public Affairs and
Community Service (CPACS) at UNO. As a separate department within CPACS, the AI offers two
tracks of study for undergraduates: aviation administration and professional pilot. Making up the AI
are five faculty members responsible for teaching the core courses, two full time staff members,
three graduate students and simulator instructors. On the surface, the AI appears to be a typical
department nestled within a larger collegiate system, however, there is some qualities that make the
AI unique. The most important distinction is the flight training program. This is because of the
various stakeholders that are involved with flight training. One of the key stakeholders is the
Federal Aviation Association (FAA). The FAA heavily dictates the ground and flight training
curriculum. There is a specific list of standards and training time that must be met in order to reach
compliance, and in addition, the AI prepares for an annual inspection by a designated principle
operation inspector (POI) who ensures compliance. This poses a challenge for the AI being that the
requirements set forth by the FAA do not always lend themselves to the traditional collegiate
structure. In addition to the FAA, the AI works with two independent flight schools that are
contracted to provide service for the students of the AI. Each flight school is a separate business
with a separate organizational culture, yet they partner with the AI students who are in pursuant of
their flight certificates. Finally, on the airport administration side of the AI, there is an equal
amount of external stakeholders made up of organizational leaders and alumni that assist in the
development of the aviation administration

Permian and Cretaceous Mass Extinctions Essay
Assess the different hypotheses put forward for the mass extinctions at the end of the Permian and
Cretaceous (KT) Periods.
A mass extinction is an event in which at least 25 75% of species in the global environment are
eradicated in a short period of time. Where as a regional extinction event is when the extinction is
confined to a specific zone. Five mass extinctions have occurred throughout time, two of the most
well known of these are the Permian and Cretaceous extinction events.
There are several hypotheses that are used to explain the causes of mass extinctions. Climate
change, the warming or cooling of global environments over a short period of time, can lead to
other occurrences. Shifts in climate can cause extinction by ... Show more content on

A crater, the Bedout crater, in Australia has been discovered. A bolide impact would have lead to
mass death of marine and terrestrial organisms. The force of the impact could have released
methane from stored organic matter and large earthquakes. These earthquakes would have
triggered the volcanism in the Siberian traps, leading to the release of large amounts of CO2 and
sulfur dioxide. These gases combined with methane previously released would have created a
noxious atmosphere, combined with climate change that killed a large scale of life.
It is most likely that a simultaneous occurrence of the different global environmental changes was
responsible for ending the Permian period, and the lives of 96% of species. Each environmental
issue is a major geological event, and amplified the other events, leading to catastrophic
environmental situation, in which barely any life could survive.
The Cretaceous Tertiary mass extinction, commonly referred to as the KT extinction, occurred 65
million years ago. As the most recant extinction event it is more easily studied as more evidence has
been preserved than for the earlier extinctions. This extinction is the most commonly known, as it is
the extinction of the dinosaurs, but the smallest scale mass extinction with only 76% of species
dying out.

Cultural And Ethical Issues Of Homosexuality
The world today faces many cultural and ethical issues that some believe are only relevant in
today s day and age. The Bible bluntly states that homosexuality is a sin. However, would it still
be considered homosexuality if there were a gender change surgery before going through with
the immoral act? There are many scripture verses in the Old Testament that evidence the
demoralization of a sex change both then and there and here and now. The bible goes into depth
explaining that God painstakingly made man and woman deliberately as they are. So God
created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created
them. (Genesis) Gender identity confusion is not a sexual problem but an emotional one. For
God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2
Timothy 1:7) A person s gender is predestined along with all other facets of their life. (Henry)
God would not create a person with the genitalia of a female and the heart and consciousness of a
male. (Bohlin) For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
(1 Corinthians 14:33) Gender identity comprehension occurs early on in childhood development. It
begins at birth and messages of assertion and authentication of one s personhood can be distorted
from many factors such as parents and family, society and even media. If a child is not ensured of

Open Border Migration
Dating as far back as the revolution, Americans have always rallied around the concept of change.
Occupy Wall Street, though a unorganized protest, has successfully created a stir throughout the
nation by demanding modifications to society. Among the many appeals, the demonstration insist
on open borders migration which would enable easier immigrationbetween countries, in this case it
would be Mexico and the United States. Republicans and Democrats are split on how correctly
solve this seemingly unsolvable issue. The Republican Party is in no way attempting to meet this
demand; however, the Democratic Party s is trying to implement reforms in the immigration
process, which is a step towards accomplishing the protest s goal. I believe that the best way to
meet Occupy Wall Street s demand is to have a mix of the two parties solution. This conflict
between the two parties is significant because it can lead to a complete halt in creating a solution.
One of the key components needed to establishing open borders migration in the United States is to
create and passing a reform that makes the immigration process both easier and less time
consuming. The Republican Party has no intention to making the immigration process any simplier.

A Streetcar Named Desire Gender Roles
The roles and representations of the women are shown to have changed dramatically, reflected
through contrasting roles women take within the Traditional period of the 1940 s and the
Contemporary Period of the 1980 s to the present. Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named
Desire , explores the submissive and dependent roles of a women, while exploring how rebellion
against societal norm can ostracise. Contrasted by John Lee Hancock s biopic, The Blind Side ,
which juxtaposes these values by showing women in positions of empowerment.
In A Streetcar Named Desire , Williams explores the representation of women in the Traditional
Period, through strict gender roles, which force women into submissive and dependent roles.

Williams reflects this through Blanche s challenge to the status quo as a promiscuous woman, a non
existent action in the Traditional Period. Blanche s argumentation of her promiscuous past: You
ve got to be soft and attractive , investigates her psychological turmoil. Blanche struggles to accept
that her youth and status as a Southern Belle are fading, aspects of a woman that allowed her to
find a husband, which in turn prevented societal ostracism. The metaphor Kiefaber, Stanley and
Shaw have tied an old tin can to the tail of the kite , illustrates that Blanche is tied to her
promiscuous past, meaning she is incapable of finding a husband. Desirable qualities of a wife
were respectable caste and no past sexual relations, without these Blanche develops into a destitute
woman and social pariah, meaning her only chance at marriage, is through deception. Through her
failed attempt at deceiving Mitch, he rejects her with the extended metaphor You re not clean
enough to bring in the house with my mother , which refers to bloodstained pillow slips . Which
exhibit that the contamination of her past cannot be cleaned, only changed through deception,
which causes her to be further ostracised as the truth is revealed. The roles of women in the

Police Enforcement Agency Of Bangladesh Essay
Introduction:
The Bangladesh Police is the main law enforcement agency of Bangladesh. It is administered
under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. It plays a crucial role in
maintaining peace, and enforcement of law and order within Bangladesh. Though the police are
primarily concerned with the maintenance of law and order and security of persons and property
of individuals, it also plays a big role in the criminal justice system.
After decades of misuse and neglect, Bangladesh police is a source of instability and fear rather
than a key component of a democratic society. A friend asks another friend How many people
were there at the tea shop? He replies, Oh, only a few, just a couple of gentle men and a cop. You
must have heard this joke or one of its many variations. The implied hint is clear. There are obvious
reasons behind this common perception. But like all generalizations, these do not portray the whole
truth.
Abstract:
Police is one of the important law enforcing agencies to control the pace of crime and law and
order situation. Subordinate Police Officers are the key role players in this context. At present,
crime is increasing; the criminal justice system is cracking under heavy workload; society s
expectations from the police are high but the police s status and resources, working and living
conditions leave a lot to be desired. Moreover, the law enforcers are encountering some

Open and Closed Source Systems Essay
An operating system is a considered a set of programs that schedule tasks, assign storage and
presenting an interface to the user. There are many operating systems to choose from. Some are
created for personal use, some for business use, and some can be used for both. One of the biggest
differences is whether the operating system is open sourceor closed source. Operating systems are
created with programming code. Programmers are responsible for writing the source code, which
is compiled into executable code. This executable code is what creates the product ran on
computers. An open source system is a system in which the source code is visible. A closed source
system keeps the source code hidden.

Users have several options when choosing a closed source system. Some examples would include
Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X operating systems. Like open source systems, closed source
systems offer software for a variety of uses that include personal, server and mobile.

UnixWindows 97, XP, 7, Vista
Versions of Window Server
Mac OS X
Closed source systems are usually found in personal computers because the level of expertise
needed to use them is minimal. There are many factors to consider when determining which
system to use. The level of expertise of the user, the costs of the system and any add ons, and the
flexibility of the system must all be considered. The type of application also plays some role in
the decision. Both types can be found in personal, server, and mobile applications. However, open
source systems are often found more in mobile and server applications.
Using the UNIX Environment
I am currently using Windows 7 as my primary operating system and I have been a Windows user
since I started really using computers so the transition for me to a UNIX/Linux environment has
been a bit daunting. For the purposes of this comparison I downloaded Cygwin, which emulates a
Linux environment quite well. The first issue that I had to figure out was where did the GUI go? I
realized that a UNIX/Linux system uses the command prompt

As I Lay Dying Essay
As I Lay Dying is an archetypal novel where the journey the characters embark on is a model for
others. Little Miss Sunshine, a movie rather than a novel, takes the basics of As I Lay Dying and
alters them to form a more modern version with a slightly different storyline. Little Miss Sunshine
successfully interprets the journey in As I Lay Dying because aspects of both the characters and
their trek emulate that of the novel As I Lay Dying.
The major events in the journey of the Hoovers in Little Miss Sunshine are analogous to that of
the Bundrens in As I Lay Dying. In both, the cause of the undertaking of the journey is because of
a promise. In one a promise to Addie Bundren that she will be buried in Jefferson, and in the other

Darl is different than [the] others, as is Frank (Faulkner 21). Because of Darl s differences and
his unique personality, folks say [he] is queer [and] lazy and he is generally looked down upon
by others (Faulkner 24). However, people simply misunderstand him and his individuality.
Frank, because of his sexuality and his attempted suicide, is also different than those around
him. He is misunderstood and judged by others, even by some within his own family. Both
become outsiders in their respective families, in part because they distance themselves, and also
because they are simply different than the others in their family. They are both smarter than the
people in their families, although the ways in which they are smarter differ. Darl is smarter in
that he is able to infer things that most do not notice. He somehow knows that Dewey Dell is
pregnant even though she has kept it a well protected secret, and he refers to the fact that Jewel
is not their father s son despite their mother never disclosing that fact to anyone. Frank on the
other hand, is an intellectual. He is more intelligent than his family simply because he knows
more and has learned more. While Darl is an excellent archetype for Frank s character, there is a
major difference between the two. Darl ends up being rejected from the family and is sent to a
cage in Jackson where his grimed hands [lie] light in the quiet interstices (Faulkner 254). Frank

But it takes even more to be a role model. As John Cena grows as an entertainer and a wrestler,
his fan base grows rapidly and there are numerous children in the world that adore, respect, and
have him as a role model. Although it sounds like a daunting task to be a role model, it is not
hard at all for the 16 time World Champion. John Cena has given to the WWE community ever
since his inception into the business. He brings joy to millions of kids every day. You can tell
this by his merchandise sales. John Cena s apparel and merchandise have consistently been one
of the biggest sellers ever. Compared to the likes of greats as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk
Hogan, and many iconic figures in the business, John Cena s merchandise is the best selling of all

seen as a role model. Most notably, John Cena gives back to the community a lot. Although most of
his commitment and work goes into wrestling and entertaining, Cena also gives back to the children
of special needs. The Make A Wish Foundation is an organization that grants wishes to children

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in
the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall

Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components
with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product
quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to

The Things They Carried Vietnam Essay
How Society Influences Man: Tim O Brien in Vietnam
Tim O Brien s novel The Things They Carried is meant to display the effects of Vietnam on both
American soldiers as well as the boys they once were. Vietnam is a society where human
decency is left behind, and death is embraced as either a joke or an escape where the horrors of
reality are turned comical and exaggerated in order to keep going. Tim O Brien shows how Vietnam
turns him from a boy unknowing of death, to a young man unwilling to face it, to a soldier
laughing in the face of it, to a veteran unwilling to leave it behind, and finally, to an author left to
make sense of it all.
Before describing the effects of Vietnam, first it is necessary to know how Tim O Brien was...

a draft board, he rages against having no options and the unfairness of it all he revels in his
righteousness, his feeling of being wronged, and uses this to help convince himself that he has
every right to run from Vietnam. O Brien convinces himself he has every right to run from
death, yet still managed to be divided when it came to actually getting up to run. Thus, when he
abandons his little town to flee to Canada and escape the war, his constant juggle between doing
what was expected of him and doing what would keep him alive is the conflict between the
young boy clinging to Linda alive and healthy and the soldier he will soon have to become. In
the end, his fear of facing the disappoint of his family and peers is too great, and he returns home
to face the war. While this decision is what gets him to Vietnam, however, it is not the decision that
alters him forever. No, it is Vietnam that sheds away both the little boy O Brien once was and the
righteous college graduate who feared his town s judgement.

mind floods with memories of his younger days, when he lived in a town called Macondo. This
town can only be described as mystical, as many things, explainable and unexplainable, always

these all things contribute to persuade people to go and watch the movie. As a class we

How Did The Federalist Papers Influence The Ratification...
Section A: Identification and Evaluation of Sources This investigation will explore the
question: To what extent did The Federalist Papers influence the ratification of the Constitution?
The publications, arguments, and effects of this document will be the focus of the investigation
to allow for an analysis of where and in what ways The Federalist was influential during the
constitutional conventions from 1787 to 1789. The first source that will be evaluated in depth
is Ron Chernow s book Alexander Hamilton which was published in 2005. The origin of this
source is valuable because Chernow is a historian and writer who graduated from Yale university,
Pembroke College, and Cambridge. He has won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography and the
American History Book Prize and has written many books about the founding fathers and early
republic, indicating his extensive knowledge on the subject. The purpose of Alexander Hamilton
is to tell the story of the first secretary of the treasury and his influence on the new nation from
his birth in 1755 to his death in 1804. This is valuable, because as the author of more than half of
The Federalist, extensive knowledge on Hamilton s political pursuits and views is helpful in
creating an informed conclusion. However, since the main focus of the novel is Hamilton, the role
of Madison and Jay may have been downsized or less researched. Also, the focus of the book was
not the Constitutional convention and impact of the federalist papers, so

Gasoline Powered Vehicles
Harrison Ford once said, Nature does not need people, people need nature. In these eight simple
words, Harrison Ford has managed to boil down every single reason to switch from gasoline
powered vehicles to vehicles using alternative fuel sources. Nature does not need humans to
survive; humans need nature to survive. Complying to every human s need, moving from
gasoline to an alternative fuel source is the responsibility of each and every human being. This
responsibility is bestowed upon everyone as to obtain and improve one s environmental condition.
This includes the current generation as well as all of the following generations to come. There are
many reasons to switch from gasoline powered vehicles to vehicles using an alternative fuel
source. Each main reason has several smaller reasons that can build up and link together. The main
reasons that Americans need to switch from gasoline powered vehicles to vehicles using
alternative fuels are as follows: gasoline prices are increasing, the United States is moving from
gasoline to alternative fuel sources, the environment is deteriorating, and the emissions from
gasoline vehicles are posing health risks to humans and animals. Gasoline prices are continuously
rising. The steady increase of gasoline has caused some companies and individuals to convert from

Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner By Randall Jerrell Analysis
During war, there are two possible outcomes for a soldier engaged in battle life or death. In the
poem Randall Jerrell wrote in 1945, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner , the most significant
thing one notices about the speaker is the fact that he s dead. The airman is telling the story of his
own deathfrom the grave. This gives a different perspective on the poem than if his friend were
the speaker. If the airman s friend were telling the story, it would have a more dramatic detailed
account of the incident; however, since the speaker is dead, he doesn t get too worked up

La Vita Nuova
The promise of a new life at a wedding is an optimistic rebirth; the loss of a lover is an obligatory
uprooting. Allegra Goodman s La Vita Nuova records the changed life of a freshly dumped bride
to be. As she endures her altered life, Amanda occupies herself by babysitting her student Nathaniel.
Amanda uses irony, dark humor, and juxtaposition as a coping mechanism; instead of facing the
new life she has to live, she uses sardonic reflection to elongate her mourning period.
When Amanda digs up memories of her ex fiancГ©, her timing and choice of anecdote help her
wallow in rejection for longer. Reflecting on her breakup, she says We had too many differences...
For example, I loved him and he didn t love me (Goodman). She proves this with the things she

Advantages Of Traditional Market Research Methods
Lisel Douglas Argumentative Essay 2014 11 04 (Title) There is no doubt that traditional market
research methods have proven themselves to be valuable in helping businesses to determine the
next steps in, and governmental organizations study the population over which it governs.
Traditional market research methods such as surveys in person, mail, telephone, and now,
online, have proven to be reliable means of gathering information about a market. Qualitative
methods, like focus groups, and in depth interviews have also been accepted as reliable means
for collecting a certain kind of information about a market. However, according to the AAPOR,
we are entering a new era, where traditional survey research may play a less dominant role.
Businesses and organizations may look more to Big Data and social media research for answers
to their questions. This paper is not a discussion of the merits of traditional methods vs. newer
methods, from an either/or perspective. The intention is to explain why social media as a
potentially reliable market research method, should not be dismissed due perceived pitfalls. There
are many areas of concern, but this paper will address only three: measurement challenges, wrong
answers, and quality. The AAPOR states that, the reasons to consider social media in public opinion
and survey research are no different than those of any alternative method as essentially the ultimate
concern of market research is answering research questions, and

Externalities Of Unemployment In Australia
The problem of unemployment has been a significant one in Australia. Unemployment is a major
cost to an economy not only in terms of opportunity cost of lost production but also in terms of
major long term social costs including increased inequality, poverty and crime. Unemployment
statistics reflect the total available labour force divided by the number of people recognised as
being unemployed and are actively seeking work within a percentage. Australia s Unemployment
rate currently stands at 5.7% with the RBA considering 5% unemployment a good guide. The
cause of Australia s unemployment is widely varied and does not have a single root. One cause of
increasing unemployment could be linked to the mining boom. The mining boom led to increased
demand for Australian exports, and increased demand for the AUD on the FOREX market. This led
to an appreciation in the AUD which led to increased relative export prices, and decreased
international competitiveness in other industries such as manufacturing. A decrease in the demand
for Australian manufactured goods then occurred, causing firms to decrease supply and cut costs,
resulting in a decrease in the demand for labour, and therefore,... Show more content on

The final problem that ARPAnet came across was the fact that most computers did not run exactly
the same hardware or software as another. Their solution to this was to build smaller computers
(called Interface Message

the other IMPs on the network. All of the IMPs were built to the same specifications so that one
could easily communicate with the other5.
In 1968 all three of these developments were put into action when ARPA sent out proposals and

Symbolism In St George And The Dragon
Known from legend, St. George is the knight who is told to have slain a dragon in Libya to save a
young woman, generally known as holding the title of princess, as expressed in Raphael s painting
St. George and the Dragon. In this oil painting, the dragon is seemingly the embodiment of evil in
the town while St. George is the knight that risks his life to slay and rid of the evil within the town
in a somewhat chivalrous manner. In St. George and the Dragon, Raphael expresses Christianity
combined with chivalry in his painting through the use of small details, symbolic representations,
contrast, human figures, and the depiction of these human figures and or characters. Raphael could
have done this due to the rise of Christianity in the Renaissanceera and chivalry in art at the time.
The expression of Christianity can be represented through symbolism, color, and the details of
Raphael s painting. The dragon can be seen as symbolic of the Devil in Christianity and in turn St.
George slaying the dragon can be represented as the destruction of the Devil and all evil within
that setting. The color of the dragon is dark and is viciously drawn which contrasts with the white
and seemingly lightness of St. George s horse that brings out the good and evil within the painting.
This corresponds with Christianity as the Devil is normally depicted as dark and cruel compared to
the white that represents purity of those who are righteous. Continuing on with the darkness of the
dragon, in

Replacement of sex hormones during puberty may result in development of adequate secondary
sex characteristics e.g. breasts, pubic hair and a deeper voice.
How it is diagnosed
Genetic testing can be used to check blood for the genetic abnormalities known to cause PWS.
Any suspected diagnosis of PWS is usually made by a physician based on clinical symptoms.
The preferred method of testing is a methylation analysis, which detects 99% of cases.
A FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization) test will identify those patients with PWS due to a
deletion, but it will not identify those who have PWS by UPD (uniparental disomy) or an
imprinting error.
PWS can be detected before birth if the mother undergoes amniocentesis testing or chorionic villus
sampling but this testing is only recommended if the mother or father is known to have a
chromosome rearrangement, or if they already have a child with PWS.
Incidence in the population
Approximately one out of every 15,000 births.
Males and females equally effected as are all races and ethnicities.
Most common genetic cause of life threatening childhood obesity.

Arundel Case Essay
Case 3: Arundel Partners
1. Arundel has an interesting idea to buy rights to movie sequels. Their theory is that they can
make a profit by securing sequel rights and providing seed capital to films even before production
starts, thus avoiding the asymmetric information problem that would arise as the film progresses and
the studio gains more and more inside information about the film s prospects. Buying rights in
advance allows Arundel to buy rights to the sequels of eventually successful movies much more
cheaply than after their success is proved, and also eliminates any potential bidding wars that may
arise for sequel rights to successful films. Furthermore, securing a (relatively) inexpensive option to
potentially tremendously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The DCF yields an average NPV of $2.41 million (please see Exhibit 1). Clearly this approach
points to an unfavorable outcome for Arundel s investment. However, this approach assumes static
information and the absence of an option to choose only good projects.
The options valuation approach reveals a much different result. Using the values Rf=6%, a 3 year
time to maturity, and an estimated standard deviation of 50%, we get an NPV of $3.23 million on
average per film. Even taking into account potential changes in the standard deviation we get a
range of $2.27 $4.16 million with standard deviation from 40 60%. See Exhibit 2 for calculations.
3. In the event of a hugely successful movie, the studio may want more compensation for the sequel
than agreed. Also, studios might potentially seek additional money from Arundel in the event of
cost overruns during the making of an initial film. In light of this, we would recommend that
Arundel take the following actions in formulating its contracts:
В•In case of cost escalations, they are not responsible for overruns and have a right to refuse the
share of additional cost
В•Negotiate a clause where they can back out of the sequel rights or sell the sequel rights to some
other investor
В•Arundel Partners needs to negotiate that the script leaves room open for a sequel
В•If the movie does not get made, Arundel gets back the sequel option money for the movie

The Natural And Physical Aspects Of The World We Live
Physical Chemical Oceanography I Science is the study of the natural and physical aspects of the
world we live in. Science is the way humans try to understand why the environment acts in the way
it does. Science has set of rules and guidelines that must be followed. The most important step in
science is observation, the point of observation is so that the experiment can be measured and or
the experiment can be repeated with similar or the same results. Hypotheses are then developed to
disprove the observation as many scientists believe hypothesis can never be proven. Opinions are
not facts and are based on subjective influences. Opinions cannot be measured or disproven because
it is personal. Science cannot address all the issues and concerns due to the limit and restrictions it
has. The fact that not everything can be proven shows how science cannot address all the issues.
Even though everyday mankind is creating new technology to help humans better understand
nature, there will always be some elements that are beyond human capabilities. Water is unique in
that it is the only natural substance that is found in all three states liquid, solid (ice) and gas
(steam) at the temperatures normally found on earth . (http://aquarius.umaine.edu/activities
/prop_fresh_sea.pdf) In order to understand why water has such a high boiling point, high freezing
point, and high capacity of heat the molecule itself has to be examined. The water molecule is
made up off a special type of bond

Persuasive Reflection Paper
I never really thought about the problem that was going on until it happened to me, it was a
block hour at my old school classes 6 12th grade were together. It was a normal day just like
every other, we did everything we were supposed to. We all gathered in the gym to do our group
study thing that we always did on Thursday.
We were asked to stand up to do the pledge, when suddenly, I noticed that some people were not
standing. When it was over, we sat back down and I turned to my friend and asked what was
going on and asked why they did not stand, she looked at me and said that it was because of the
Black Lives Matter thing that was going on and because Colin Kaepernick had kneeled during the
anthem. I really didn t know how to feel, I was more upset than anything because I was always
taught to stand for the pledge and respect the flag cause many people have fought and risked
their lives for it everyday. People were disrespecting it for a reason they don t even know simply
because they saw it on T.V. and want to join the bandwagon. I went to my principal after that and
told her what had happen and how I didn t think it was right. Therefore, the next day when I came
to school they were all dressed in black and were wearing the african garments. I at that point
knew what they were doing. They were going to protest in school the whole day. I was getting
really dirty looks and things were said behind my back, but I wasn t the only one. Another girl also

Compare And Contrast Abraham Lincoln And The Civil War
In order to understand the American Civil War, one must know more about the leaders who
controlled both sides. As many Americans know, Abraham Lincoln participated in the command
of troops on the Northern side of the conflict. On the Southern side, a very influential leader was
also present; Nathan Bedford Forrest was a well known general in the South and was renowned
for his brilliant tactics in combat. One is known as the great emancipator of the slaves, the other, as
the first leader of the Ku Klux Klan(Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.). The roles could have
been greatly reversed, had their upbringings been different. Despite their many differences, these
two influential figures had a surprising amount of similarities. Abraham... Show more content on

After the war, Nathan Bedford Forrest returned to his old life as a businessman, working with
railroads and lumber companies to make his living. Later in the 1860s, Forrest was chosen to be
the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan (Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.). It was here
where he led the Klan members on horseback to intimidate former slaves, republicans, and other
northern civilians. In 1869, he reportedly disbanded the cult, and when later asked about his
association, he denied all ties to the group. After this disbanding of the Ku Klux Klan, Forrest saw
his businesses fail and would manage a prison camp until he succumbed to complications with
diabetes (Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.).. When looking for similarities between Nathan
Bedford Forrest and Abraham Lincoln, it is important to look at their upbringings. When the
magnifying glass is put up to these influential figures, it is clear that they had extremely similar
childhoods. Lincoln and Forrest both started out poor and would go on to teach themselves how
to read and write. Later they would slowly rise to the occasion, and be put in a place of power.
For Forrest, that is when he started making money as a cotton plantation owner; for Lincoln, it is
when he became a lawyer and invested with politics.

Integrative Research On Patients With Venus Leg Ulcers
Integrative Review of Research on Patients with Venus Leg Ulcers
In the world of medicine, evidence base practice has been a great strength to show how through
research we can provide better quality care to our patients. Evidence base practice can be defined as
the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the
care of the individual patient. It means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best
available external clinical evidence from systematic research ( Overview Introduction to Evidence
Based Practice LibGuides at Duke University Medical Center , 2016).
There are many questions that one has to come into conclusion when doing research and that is the
validity of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this review, we will look at three research articles that explore the effect on mental health and
disease perception in patients with Venus Leg ulcers and the effect it can have on disease
management and recurrences of these ulcers. This topic is very important for nursing because
health care costs are on the rise, and the decrease in reimbursements from Medicare based
readmissions.
The goal in nursing is that we must prevent these types of patients, from being readmitted into the
hospital. We need to focus on ways to help these patients manage their leg ulcers at home with the
proper support and follow up care and by addressing the psychological effect of the leg ulcers it
may help these patients with their self esteem and body image.
Breakdown
In all of the three articles, the research authors were qualified to perform the research concerning
Venus Leg Ulcers (VLU). These authors worked in a University setting in Australia and Liverpool
and having credentials at the level of a PhD, CNS, and BA in nursing. In the research of Examining
factors that influence... Venus disease (Miller, Kapp, Donohue, 2012), their focus was the
relationship between education and health promoting behaviors based on patients whom
participated in e learning educational sessions.
This research was a quantitative research; the patients that participated on the research received a

Campaign Finance Reform
Freedoms Versus Federal Election Commission
Since the era of Watergate, limits to monetary contributions to campaigns have yielded a debate
regarding the degradation of First Amendment rights and the fight against corrupt politics. Many of
the most significant Supreme Court cases of the twenty first century such as, Citizens United v.
Federal Election Commission, and McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission, have dealt with
the controversial topic of campaign finance reform and citizens most basic freedoms (Federal
Election Commission 2015). Landmark cases regarding campaign finance reform and implications
on First Amendment rights have become a controversial issue in American politics that will

In the Presidential race of 2008, it is estimated that the combined spending of outside groups,
political parties, and candidates totaled to over five billion dollars (Beneson and Tarr 2012).
American politics has created a culture of political elites that requires every candidate to raise
millions of dollars. Although organizations like the FEC tracks these large sums of money, the
amount of money a person must spend publicizing and promoting themselves has become
uncontrollable. Jeb Bush s Super PAC has already raised over 103 million dollars and filmed
countless hours of interviews of the Candidate, skirting regulations within McCain Feingold that
prevent outside sources from directly creating scripts and advertisements with the Bush campaign
(Miller and Elliot 2015). Although Bush and his supporters may have the constitutional right to
raise millions of dollars, and publish deceptive advertisements, their actions still promote a
sentiment of power that should not be allotted to one person. Regardless of the strides that have
been made to reduce corruption within campaign finance reform, and support citizen s most basic
freedoms to support whichever candidate they wish, the entire campaign process has become too
politically elite. The necessity for million dollar campaigns and extensive financial backing prevents

The Convention Center Is The Host Of The Independent Party...
The Charlotte Convention center is proud to be the host of the Independent party convention;
throughout the convention we will be the host to the various activities that will enhance the party s
incentives. During political conventions there are a lot of activities that happen throughout the
course of these events. The event planning committee is preparing for a wide range of events such
as speeches, nomination process, seminars, the stating of the party platform, and parades. While all
these activities have a certain amount of riskinvolved, parades and the demonstrations that occur
during a political convention provide a greater amount of risk. As a result, the following risk
managementplan will address the risk associated with parades and demonstrations, and offer
solution that will reduce the risks associated with these events. A parade is a public celebration
of a special day or event that usually includes many people and groups moving down a street by
marching or riding in cars or on special vehicles (called floats) (Simple Definition of Parade,
2015, para.1). When planning a parade there is plenty of risks that can happen, which can cause
harm to the attendees. As a result, strict guidelines on the manner the parade will happen will be
developed and communicated with all the stakeholders of the parade. The first guideline that will
be developed to mitigate the risk of the parade is the creation of a fire safety parade code. The fire

Anna Quindlen The Name Is Mine Analysis
Summary and respond to The Name is Mine
In the article The Name Is Mine (1998),Anna Quindlen tells the reason why she doesn t change
her name after getting married. She claims that she doesn t change her last name because this
name belongs to her and she is not part of her husband, not because of rational reasons. Initially,
she thought she made a good personal choice, but she didn t consider group relationships. For
example, when her child ask her why her name is different with her family, Quindlen feels that she
is not part of her family. She also realized that those women who changed their name are also
independent because they made their own choice. Now Quindlen feels that she is able to

It is a normal phenomenon that people will be affected by various reasons when they decide to
make a choice. Unfortunately, this situation looks like more common in females, especially in
young females. For example, some girls that graduated from high school want to choose math or
physics as their college major while their parent force them choose education or art as their
major, even as their job in future. At least half of girls would follow their parents decisions
because it is generally. One mother would follow her child s demanding; one wife would agree
her husband s points; one daughter would listen to parents. However, an individual should make
decisions for herself even it is a simple thing such as her name, what she will eat today or what
her job is. Like Quindlen said that women did their choices about themselves as individuals and
they do what they want to do is good decisions.(2016).This means that regardless of whether the
decision looks good or bad, they make decision for themselves, which would be a good decision.
To summarize, don t let others choose your life and choose something for you, to make decision for

Why Did Shakespeare Introduce Romeo In Act 1
How does Shakespeare introduce Romeo to the audience in act 1 scene 1? Romeo and Juliet is a
play by William Shakespeare written in 1595. The play explores the theme of love, hate and
death. One of the main characters in the play is Romeo who is a heartbroken, overemotional
teenage boy. Shakespeare uses many techniques such as reported action, metaphor, hyperbole etc.
to introduce Romeo to the audience in the play. By analysing what is said about Romeo, what he
says, his general mood and his imagery of Rosaline, it is possible to infer how Shakespeare

Although Rosaline never speaks or appears in the book, Romeo s imagery of her gives you a
very good idea of what she is like. First of all, Romeo thinks Rosaline is very beautiful, so much
so that he is overwhelmed with thoughts of her, she is too fair, too wise, wisely to fair. The use
of repetition and rule of three shows how obsessive Romeo is and exaggerates how compulsive
Rosaline s beauty and wisdom is. Romeo s imagery of Rosaline shows how unforgettable
Rosaline is. O teach me how I should forget to think. This is a self contradiction and is a sort of
paradox. It shows how Romeo still misses Rosaline and even though she is unavailable , he is
still in love and can t forget about her. Romeo s imagery of Rosaline indicates that Rosaline is
not touched by Romeo s infatuation of her, and in strong proof of chastity well armed, from love
s weak childish bow she lives uncharmed. Imagery and metaphor is used here to show how
Rosaline will not indulge in Romeo s love for her or allow herself to be charmed by him.
Rosaline is described as different and unique, for beauty starved with her severity. Because
Rosaline will not accept his love and lives in chastity, love cannot exist because of her
unwillingness to accept. This quotation is a use of hyperbole. From Romeo s imagery of
Rosaline, I can tell he is quite obsessive and enamoured by Rosaline s

The magnitude of job losses and tighter credit standards will restrain consumer spending for a
long time. The deleveraging of consumer balance sheets is likely to take years, as this
unwinding is concurrent with increased levels of unemployment, both of which will be a drag
on a recovery in consumer spending. Moreover, we see less credit available to fund extravagant
purchases. Demographics specifically, the retirement of baby boomers will change spending and
savings patterns. The events of 2007 08 have become the impetus for more responsible behavior,
and we see a savings rate increase in tandem with a population taking greater responsibility for its
future. Consumers are in the process of resetting priorities and that spending patterns will look
different from the recent past. We see a new normal shopping environment, with a more
constrained consumer, which will force the sector to adjust to lower sustainable levels of demand,
and lead investors to lower their long term secular growth expectations. In June 2010, the NPD

  • 4. Analysis Of The Grand Vienna Hotel Director Wes Anderson and writer Stefan Zweig come together to bring this epic adventure to life. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a narrative driven master piece of cinema set in 1932. Mr. Gustave played by Ralph Fiennes, is a legendary concierge who befriends a new lobby boy Zero played by Tony Revolori. Gustave and Zero set out on an adventure together after his love Madame D. is found murdered. Anderson has come a long way since his short filmBottle Rocket, but the success of that movie at the Sundance Film Festivalset him on a path to greatness. Andersons continued success is contributed to his cinematography style. Let me say experiencing all of Wes Andersons body of works, this is by far my favorite film to date. I was mesmerized by the Grand Budapest Hotel itself, as one of the prominent center points the hotel shines. Anderson takes his acclaimed cinematography style and makes the hotel a shining star. Every frame features architecture and color pallet of soft oranges, pinks, and yellows bringing about a certain look of luxury. One camera trick I found I was the use of windows, hallways, and doors in every scene, and camera positions taking full advantage of those spaces and shapes. The story moves from the hotel where Zero is learning his day to day duties as a lobby boy. The death of Gustave friend is seen in the newspaper, and the adventure begins. The tight close shots on board the train, while the narrator updates the story, keeps the audience in suspense. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Research On Vigilance And Sustained Attention Introduction: Studies on vigilance and sustained attention have been a widely studied part of psychology since the Second World War. This is because it was found that people monitoring radars for enemy ships experienced what is now known as vigilance decrement. That is when the ability of a subject to detect an abnormality during a task which primarily displays a normal screen. In the case of WWII radar monitors, this was to detect when an enemy submarine entered the radar. (Helton, W. S. Russell, P. N. (2012). ) After a short time, typically 20 30 minutes but in certain cases as little as 5 minutes, vigilance decrement can occur. (Caggio, D. M., Parasuraman, R. (2004)). There are two main theories commonly cited to explain this phenomenon, mindless theory and resource theory. Resource theory says that the vigilance decrement is due to the exhaustion of brain resources required to maintain focus on the task. Mindless theory simply explains vigilance depletion as being caused by disengagement from the task due to boredom. (Helton, W. S. Russell, P. N. (2012).) The two theories explain the same phenomenon much differently; resource theory says it s caused in part by cognitive overload, while mindless theory suggests it s caused by cognitive under load causing boredom. (Helton, W. S., Russell, P. N. (2015)). Resource theory is strongly supported by a wide array of evidence from behavioural studies, mental workload studies, and brain imaging studies. When the ... Through the use of stage directions, Coral doesn t respond , it is clear that Coral is in her own distinctive world and alienated from society unable to deal with the real world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the scene, we view Coral engaging in conversation with Leonie, another resident at the Hotel. The dialogue reveals a conversation that is unstable and awkward. Coral starts to become overpowering and questioning by asking, Isn t hard making contact with other people in this kind of place? Everyone s enjoying themselves but, I don t know, I feel it s a bit forced, do you feel that? Are you really enjoying yourself? Or are you only pretending. To please your husband, perhaps? The stage directions allow the audience to see that Leonie is almost in tears and asks Why are you staring like that? Coral ignores her questions and remarks and continues to question the woman. Corals language is clichГ© and proves she is still not coping. Coral starts to scare Leonie where she says Let me go, please, I want to go reinforcing Corals inability to make contact and communicate with other people and her lack of social skills. Rather than talking to the woman she starts to override the conversation and become overwhelming revealing her isolation and alienation. Coral continues to ignore the woman s pleads to leave and Leonie begins to struggle and starts crying sobbing, I want to go in. I m hungry. Let me go . Australia 100 years on still shows similar hostilities towards Aboriginal individuals, some movement has been may towards Aboriginals being equal but still not much meaningful change has occurred. Wright demonstrates the limit opportunity that the Indigenous people had for their inherited land. The land that they owned was taken over by the white Europeans and called Australia a name never heard of in the Aboriginal community. Wright demonstrated that the land was taken over, and they had no choice in the decision they had to live with the choice. Furthermore Wright empathised their unpresented land right when presenting the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act of 1917 , the public servant had the authority to acquire land of the Indigenous without giving them a choice you can t just take the land off us , however the reality is that they could. Mr. Vlasek first arrived at the AI in 1995 as a student working towards becoming a professional pilot. However, Mr. Vlasek soon found out that, due to color blindness, he would never be able to pursue a career in professional aviation. It was at this point he decided to make a career in some sort of leadership position in the aviation field. The AI is a relatively small group within the larger organization of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) at UNO. As a separate department within CPACS, the AI offers two tracks of study for undergraduates: aviation administration and professional pilot. Making up the AI are five faculty members responsible for teaching the core courses, two full time staff members, three graduate students and simulator instructors. On the surface, the AI appears to be a typical department nestled within a larger collegiate system, however, there is some qualities that make the AI unique. The most important distinction is the flight training program. This is because of the various stakeholders that are involved with flight training. One of the key stakeholders is the Federal Aviation Association (FAA). The FAA heavily dictates the ground and flight training curriculum. There is a specific list of standards and training time that must be met in order to reach compliance, and in addition, the AI prepares for an annual inspection by a designated principle operation inspector (POI) who ensures compliance. This poses a challenge for the AI being that the requirements set forth by the FAA do not always lend themselves to the traditional collegiate structure. In addition to the FAA, the AI works with two independent flight schools that are contracted to provide service for the students of the AI. Each flight school is a separate business with a separate organizational culture, yet they partner with the AI students who are in pursuant of their flight certificates. Finally, on the airport administration side of the AI, there is an equal amount of external stakeholders made up of organizational leaders and alumni that assist in the development of the aviation administration ... A mass extinction is an event in which at least 25 75% of species in the global environment are eradicated in a short period of time. Where as a regional extinction event is when the extinction is confined to a specific zone. Five mass extinctions have occurred throughout time, two of the most well known of these are the Permian and Cretaceous extinction events. There are several hypotheses that are used to explain the causes of mass extinctions. Climate change, the warming or cooling of global environments over a short period of time, can lead to other occurrences. Shifts in climate can cause extinction by ... The force of the impact could have released methane from stored organic matter and large earthquakes. These earthquakes would have triggered the volcanism in the Siberian traps, leading to the release of large amounts of CO2 and sulfur dioxide. These gases combined with methane previously released would have created a noxious atmosphere, combined with climate change that killed a large scale of life. It is most likely that a simultaneous occurrence of the different global environmental changes was responsible for ending the Permian period, and the lives of 96% of species. Each environmental issue is a major geological event, and amplified the other events, leading to catastrophic environmental situation, in which barely any life could survive. The Cretaceous Tertiary mass extinction, commonly referred to as the KT extinction, occurred 65 million years ago. As the most recant extinction event it is more easily studied as more evidence has been preserved than for the earlier extinctions. The Bible bluntly states that homosexuality is a sin. However, would it still be considered homosexuality if there were a gender change surgery before going through with the immoral act? There are many scripture verses in the Old Testament that evidence the demoralization of a sex change both then and there and here and now. The bible goes into depth explaining that God painstakingly made man and woman deliberately as they are. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis) Gender identity confusion is not a sexual problem but an emotional one. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) A person s gender is predestined along with all other facets of their life. (Henry) God would not create a person with the genitalia of a female and the heart and consciousness of a male. (Bohlin) For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, (1 Corinthians 14:33) Gender identity comprehension occurs early on in childhood development. Occupy Wall Street, though a unorganized protest, has successfully created a stir throughout the nation by demanding modifications to society. Among the many appeals, the demonstration insist on open borders migration which would enable easier immigrationbetween countries, in this case it would be Mexico and the United States. Republicans and Democrats are split on how correctly solve this seemingly unsolvable issue. The Republican Party is in no way attempting to meet this demand; however, the Democratic Party s is trying to implement reforms in the immigration process, which is a step towards accomplishing the protest s goal. I believe that the best way to meet Occupy Wall Street s demand is to have a mix of the two parties solution. This conflict between the two parties is significant because it can lead to a complete halt in creating a solution. One of the key components needed to establishing open borders migration in the United States is to create and passing a reform that makes the immigration process both easier and less time consuming. • 33. La Vita Nuova The promise of a new life at a wedding is an optimistic rebirth; the loss of a lover is an obligatory uprooting. Allegra Goodman s La Vita Nuova records the changed life of a freshly dumped bride to be. As she endures her altered life, Amanda occupies herself by babysitting her student Nathaniel. Amanda uses irony, dark humor, and juxtaposition as a coping mechanism; instead of facing the new life she has to live, she uses sardonic reflection to elongate her mourning period. When Amanda digs up memories of her ex fiancГ©, her timing and choice of anecdote help her wallow in rejection for longer. Reflecting on her breakup, she says We had too many differences... For example, I loved him and he didn t love me (Goodman). She proves this with the things she remembers her fiancГ© saying to her. There are two basic types of ex fiance quotes: insults with witty retorts from Amanda and compliments contrasted with Amanda s current cynical views. As an example of the former, while spending time with Nathaniel, Amanda thinks of her fiance s cutting words: It s hard to be with you, her fiancГ© had said. I feel like I m suffocating. • 34. Advantages Of Traditional Market Research Methods Lisel Douglas Argumentative Essay 2014 11 04 (Title) There is no doubt that traditional market research methods have proven themselves to be valuable in helping businesses to determine the next steps in, and governmental organizations study the population over which it governs. Traditional market research methods such as surveys in person, mail, telephone, and now, online, have proven to be reliable means of gathering information about a market. Qualitative methods, like focus groups, and in depth interviews have also been accepted as reliable means for collecting a certain kind of information about a market. However, according to the AAPOR, we are entering a new era, where traditional survey research may play a less dominant role. Businesses and organizations may look more to Big Data and social media research for answers to their questions. This paper is not a discussion of the merits of traditional methods vs. newer methods, from an either/or perspective. The intention is to explain why social media as a potentially reliable market research method, should not be dismissed due perceived pitfalls. There are many areas of concern, but this paper will address only three: measurement challenges, wrong answers, and quality. The AAPOR states that, the reasons to consider social media in public opinion and survey research are no different than those of any alternative method as essentially the ultimate concern of market research is answering research questions, and ... • 35. Externalities Of Unemployment In Australia The problem of unemployment has been a significant one in Australia. Unemployment is a major cost to an economy not only in terms of opportunity cost of lost production but also in terms of major long term social costs including increased inequality, poverty and crime. Unemployment statistics reflect the total available labour force divided by the number of people recognised as being unemployed and are actively seeking work within a percentage. Australia s Unemployment rate currently stands at 5.7% with the RBA considering 5% unemployment a good guide. The cause of Australia s unemployment is widely varied and does not have a single root. One cause of increasing unemployment could be linked to the mining boom. The mining boom led to increased demand for Australian exports, and increased demand for the AUD on the FOREX market. This led to an appreciation in the AUD which led to increased relative export prices, and decreased international competitiveness in other industries such as manufacturing. A decrease in the demand for Australian manufactured goods then occurred, causing firms to decrease supply and cut costs, resulting in a decrease in the demand for labour, and therefore,... The final problem that ARPAnet came across was the fact that most computers did not run exactly the same hardware or software as another. Their solution to this was to build smaller computers (called Interface Message Processors or IMPs) that were in direct contact with the main computer and also in connection with the other IMPs on the network. All of the IMPs were built to the same specifications so that one could easily communicate with the other5. In 1968 all three of these developments were put into action when ARPA sent out proposals and requests for contractors. Bolt, Beranek, and Newman, Inc. • 37. Symbolism In St George And The Dragon Known from legend, St. George is the knight who is told to have slain a dragon in Libya to save a young woman, generally known as holding the title of princess, as expressed in Raphael s painting St. George and the Dragon. In this oil painting, the dragon is seemingly the embodiment of evil in the town while St. George is the knight that risks his life to slay and rid of the evil within the town in a somewhat chivalrous manner. In St. George and the Dragon, Raphael expresses Christianity combined with chivalry in his painting through the use of small details, symbolic representations, contrast, human figures, and the depiction of these human figures and or characters. Raphael could have done this due to the rise of Christianity in the Renaissanceera and chivalry in art at the time. The expression of Christianity can be represented through symbolism, color, and the details of Raphael s painting. The dragon can be seen as symbolic of the Devil in Christianity and in turn St. George slaying the dragon can be represented as the destruction of the Devil and all evil within that setting. The color of the dragon is dark and is viciously drawn which contrasts with the white and seemingly lightness of St. George s horse that brings out the good and evil within the painting. This corresponds with Christianity as the Devil is normally depicted as dark and cruel compared to the white that represents purity of those who are righteous. Their theory is that they can make a profit by securing sequel rights and providing seed capital to films even before production starts, thus avoiding the asymmetric information problem that would arise as the film progresses and the studio gains more and more inside information about the film s prospects. Buying rights in advance allows Arundel to buy rights to the sequels of eventually successful movies much more cheaply than after their success is proved, and also eliminates any potential bidding wars that may arise for sequel rights to successful films. Using the values Rf=6%, a 3 year time to maturity, and an estimated standard deviation of 50%, we get an NPV of $3.23 million on average per film. Even taking into account potential changes in the standard deviation we get a range of $2.27 $4.16 million with standard deviation from 40 60%. See Exhibit 2 for calculations. 3. Also, studios might potentially seek additional money from Arundel in the event of cost overruns during the making of an initial film. In light of this, we would recommend that Arundel take the following actions in formulating its contracts: В•In case of cost escalations, they are not responsible for overruns and have a right to refuse the share of additional cost В•Negotiate a clause where they can back out of the sequel rights or sell the sequel rights to some other investor В•Arundel Partners needs to negotiate that the script leaves room open for a sequel В•If the movie does not get made, Arundel gets back the sequel option money for the movie ... Science is the way humans try to understand why the environment acts in the way it does. Science has set of rules and guidelines that must be followed. The most important step in science is observation, the point of observation is so that the experiment can be measured and or the experiment can be repeated with similar or the same results. Hypotheses are then developed to disprove the observation as many scientists believe hypothesis can never be proven. Opinions are not facts and are based on subjective influences. Opinions cannot be measured or disproven because it is personal. Science cannot address all the issues and concerns due to the limit and restrictions it has. The fact that not everything can be proven shows how science cannot address all the issues. Even though everyday mankind is creating new technology to help humans better understand nature, there will always be some elements that are beyond human capabilities. Shakespeare uses many techniques such as reported action, metaphor, hyperbole etc. to introduce Romeo to the audience in the play. By analysing what is said about Romeo, what he says, his general mood and his imagery of Rosaline, it is possible to infer how Shakespeare introduces Romeo in act 1, scene one. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Rosaline never speaks or appears in the book, Romeo s imagery of her gives you a very good idea of what she is like. First of all, Romeo thinks Rosaline is very beautiful, so much so that he is overwhelmed with thoughts of her, she is too fair, too wise, wisely to fair. The use of repetition and rule of three shows how obsessive Romeo is and exaggerates how compulsive Rosaline s beauty and wisdom is. Romeo s imagery of Rosaline shows how unforgettable Rosaline is. O teach me how I should forget to think. This is a self contradiction and is a sort of paradox. It shows how Romeo still misses Rosaline and even though she is unavailable , he is still in love and can t forget about her. Romeo s imagery of Rosaline indicates that Rosaline is not touched by Romeo s infatuation of her, and in strong proof of chastity well armed, from love s weak childish bow she lives uncharmed. Imagery and metaphor is used here to show how Rosaline will not indulge in Romeo s love for her or allow herself to be charmed by him. Rosaline is described as different and unique, for beauty starved with her severity. Because Rosaline will not accept his love and lives in chastity, love cannot exist because of her unwillingness to accept. This quotation is a use of hyperbole.
