The White And Black Progress During Segregation Time Period
Introduction:
There a hundred or more houses in the quarters. The streets of the quarters are unpacked, sandy places.
The woods surround everything. Bull alligators can be heard booming like huge bass drums from the

1800 s who sought opportunity of cattle and developed cities dedicated to their kind. Even with the
success of building multiple towns with railroads, cattle, citrus production, and phosphate industry
attracted blacks for job and property opportunities. With the migration of blacks to Polk county caused

Lakeland was established January 1, 1885 by Abraham Munn the first American who founded

Why Do The Historic Theories Of The Origins Of Religion...
Introduction Why study comparative religions? You could study religion for the same reason you
study music or biology or drama. It is based on your interests. The second cultures of the world cannot
be understood without a knowledge of the influence of religion on everyday life. Lastly, politics is a
huge contribution for knowledge about world religions. How do the historic theories of the origins of
religion begin? Well the first theory is Animistic Theory which Edward Burnett Tylor in his primitive
culture Tylor hypothesized that primitive peoples developed a sense of the soul or the other from
experiences with death and dreams. The nature worship theory was developed by Max Muller, an
Oxford Professor. The magic theory in which Sir James Frazer wrote a huge book on religion called
The Golden Bough . The first phase people attempted to control the world of nature through magic.
Then the second phase people turned to religion with the premise that nature could be implored or
begged to cooperate by the use of scarifies and offerings. The last phase was when religion failed
people and turned to science showing a progress to a more rational understanding of nature. The last
theory is religion as a projection of human needs which a German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach
claimed that religions were essentially projections of the wishes and needs of humanity. There are
many different ways to approach the study of religion. Even though this class is about religions it is

Romeo And Juliet Film Analysis
Baz Luhrmann s 1996 Romeo and Juliet plays with the genre of Shakespearean tragedy as much as it
plays with it s chosen medium, film. It draws from it s Elizabethan language and also plays with the
conventions of postmodernism, melding in aspects of popular 90 s film, like crime and mob movies.
Luhrmann s use of intensified continuity, motifs, and exciting editing styles all serve to show you
Shakespeare s poetics rather than recite the poetry to you. However, that is not to say that Luhrmann
entirely leaves the text behind in his film. His overtly clever imagery and word play creates a world
that is detailed, textured and intertextual. The level of detail in his world indicates that a certain level
of fantastical realism remains in this film, but every aspect of that detail exists to serve the poetry and
the understanding and entertainment of the audience. There is never a detail that is too realist to the
point of redundancy, it s all innately clever. Luhrmann is in every sense of the term, a film poet. Baz
Luhrmann s use of the filmic mode is made glaringly clear from the prologue sequence. The entire
thing revels in the convention of film. He draws attention to his playfulness with film convention in
having one of the very first image of his film of a tv screen. The introductory monologue: Two
households, both alike in dignity/ (In fair Verona, where we lay our scene)... (1.1.1 2), turns into a
mediatization of the events of Romeo and Juliet rather than a theatrical

Choir Critique
The following is a performance critique of the Lakeview Middle School Winter Choir concert held on
Monday, December 12, 2016. The performance was held in the Lakeview middle School Gymnasium.
The concert was performed by the 7th grade choir, master choir, and the 8th grade choir, and directed
by Mr. Bellof. After watching the performance on a video my overall reaction was very good. I
believe all the choirs did an excellent job of portraying the Christmas and Winter festivities through
music. The first performance was given by the Lakeview Middle SChool 7th grade choir. The first
song sung was Going on a Sleigh Ride by: Sally blah blah. The choir as a whole did well on this song

The first song sung by the 8th grade choir was Bi Bom by: David Hill. The choir did well on this song
by having good tempo and volume. At the end it was very cool to hear the choir speed up the song and
throughout the song the maintain a steady volume. I believe if they wished to improve, the 8th grade
choir could work on their articulation and balance. They still did very well in these sections but at
some parts of the song it was hard to understand the lyrics and sometimes the sections overpowered
one another. The second song sung by the 8th grade choir was Go Tell it on the Mountain by: John
Wesley Jr. The choir did well on this song by having good dynamics and articulation. Throughout the
song, especially the end, the choir had different volumes and maintained a clear song so the lyrics
could be understood. I believe if they wished to improve, the 8th grade choir could work on their
balance and tempo. Only at some points of the song did one section overpower another section and the
speed was the same throughout the song. The third Oceans and Star by: Amy blah. The choir did well
on this song by having good blend and articulation. All the sections blended very well together and all
the lyrics could be clearly understood. I believe if they wished to improve, the 8th grade choir could

SWOT Analysis And Environmental Analysis Of Apple
Environmental Analysis A SWOT analysis is an evaluation of the business environment and
organizational strategic capability to identify key issues that may impact strategy development

Margaret Sanger And Eleanor Roosevelt
I. Introduction. There are many remarkable personalities in our history, which made revolutionary
changes in women s lives. Two of them were Margaret Sanger and Eleanor Roosevelt. They
contributed immensely to change the women s fates and lives and to position them equally with men.

Nordic Countries Built on a Culture of Equality and...
The notion of consensual politics in Nordic countries is built on a culture of equality and the
importance of persistently trustworthy behaviour which are based on a common set of values (Delhey
and Newton, 2004). These Nordic countries include Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
The following values, institutional and political characteristics are typically highlighted when making
reference to these countries: egalitarianism by means of universal and generous social insurance
systems, solidarity, public welfare service systems, proactive labour market and finally agreed
industrial policies which maintain a level of consensus within Nordic politics (Strandberg, 2006).
These characteristics have been one of the main reasons for the development of their comprehensive
welfare provisions, which creates a sense of solidarity among these countries (Kuhnle, 1991: Peterson,
1994 cited in Lee Miles, 1996). This paper will start by assessing and defining the existence of
consensual Nordic politics today by discussing how it had been in the past, and then looking at the
future of consensual politics in Nordic countries. Also in this essay the two countries, which will be
compared, are Finland and Sweden showing, which state has maintained a consensual form of policy
making and which have had more of a decline and how it got to that point. It will then go on to explain
the reasons for the decline and what sort of reforms can be done in order to ensure a rise in consensual

Sociological Effects Of Media Violence
Violence has become a major social disturbance that is continuously on the rise to become more
common within the media. Movies, TV shows, video games and the music in this era are being
heavily influenced by violent notions. Some of the most popular TV shows that are aired have a
significant amount of violence engulfed in the scripting. Even games and music that are produced are
commonly centered on a violent scheme. Media violence has become a sociological issue for many
reasons. Media inspires people in dramatic ways, which poses an issue when what is being portrayed
is violence. Society grasp ideas through many ways, media being one, and accept them as norms.

Violence has always been embedded in the infrastructure of media. Since it has been this way for such
a long time and is not causing a major threat to the upper classes, it is les beneficial to eradicate the
amount of violence in media. Subsequently, media violence exist because it does not cause major
issues to the one at the top. Also the media in violence exist because it serves a function in society.
One of its many functions is to retain the lower class. By targeting the youth, media encourages
violent acts that lead to imprisonment. This hinders the future advancement of the youth in the lower
class making them suffer in strife. In alignment with keeping the lower class down, it entices the
proliferation of the wealth and fame of the individuals that contribute in the productions of the media.
A functionalist would believe that since media violence does not falter the stability of society, it is

Erosion is unfortuanately present at Cronulla beach, the local government have tried to tackle this
problem with solution such as dune stabilization and rip rap walls. Rip rap walls are when larged
rocks are piled in a certain angle to catch drifting sand and protect the beaches from harsher waves
and to protect buildings from high tides. There are also many programs which help to ensure the
stabilization of dunes, these include the planting of new vegetation to combat erosion, fencing and
designated walkways to prevent human interference. The main reason of dune stabilization is to slow
down the speed of erosion. In 1974 the Cronulla beaches were at an all time low and was in a critical
state, from this the University of New South Wales designed a new wall, a wall which is different
from the conventional walls used to prevent erosion and transportation with these hexagonal concrete

These concrete walls over a period of time have increased the size of the beach. Enviromental

Lady Macbeth Monologue
Lady Macbeth first appears in act 1 scene 5. She enters with a soliloquy; reading a letter that she has
received from Macbeth.
With the use of superlatives Macbeth refers to Lady Macbeth at the start of his letter as his dearest
partner of greatness. She reads the letter aloud and is astounded by what it has to say. The first thing
she says after finishing the letter is that Macbeth has already sustained the titles of Thane of Glamis
and Thane of Cawdor and shalt be what thou art promis d. She knows two of the prophesies have
come true and she will make sure that the third one does likewise. This indicates to us that Lady
Macbeth is very sure of herself; she is presented as having manly qualities such as leadership and
determination.

Object Relational Mapping ( Orm )
Object Relational Mapping (ORM) is a programming technique for converting data between
incompatible types in object oriented programming languages. ORM can be considered as a
mechanism that helps and aids in addressing, accessing and manipulating data without having to
necessarily consider the relationship between the data and the data source. Programmers can maintain
a constant view of objects over time and can adapt to application access or data delivery changes
while using ORM. ORM manages the mapping properties amongst a set of objects that have
underlying relational databases, repositories or other sources of data that simultaneously hide constant
details that have been changed in related interfaces from the developers and the code they create.
ORM makes it theoretically possible for developers to switch applications between relational
databases. Since ORM tools mostly rely heavily on metadata of both the database and objects, the
objects do not need to know anything about the database and the database doesn t need to know
anything about how the data is structured in the application. ORM provides a clean well designed data
application.
Advantages of ORM
The most important key feature of using ORM is the mapping it uses to bind an object to its database.
ORM performs the task of managing the application s interactions with the database. There are various
number of benefits to using ORM for development of database applications. The productivity
increases as during

Persuasive Speech On Endangered Species
Introduction
An endangered species is a group (population) of plants, animals or other organisms that is in danger
of becoming extinct. This could happen because there are few of that animal left, its predators have
grown in number, or the climate that it lives in is changing, or the places it lives in have been
destroyed. The World Conservation Union (IUCN) has worked out that endangered species are 40% of
all organisms. This research paper aims to see why we should protect the endangered species, ways to
protect and the causes of endangered species becoming more and more. Some people do not really
understand the importance of keeping a healthy population of animals or plants in the planet so this
report will show you what we had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything stays right here on the plant. Help with breeding
There are breeding programs out there that help animals from becoming extinct. You can join the
program, it s going to take your money but it s going to be worth saving the animals and plants.
Controlling hunting A lot of countries allow a certain numbers of animals to be hunted but no more. If
any hunters doesn t follow the laws, the will be charged.
Conclusion The amount of endangered species has been rising due to human factors such as hunting
and over exploitation. So of this, we should protect the endangered species and stop them from rising
the amount. We can do the easy ways like, be careful about what we buy because there is no away to
throw trash, everything stays on the plants, as easy as it looks, we already protect them. We should
conserve them not only because they benefit us but because they play a role in nature and have a right
to survive.

La Siest A Known Component Of The Spanish Culture
La Siesta is a commonly known component of the Spanish culture. In seeking to strike a balance
between work and pleasure, for long Spaniards have practiced the traditional siesta. Professionals
along with students often return to their respective homes around noon for a couple of hours to rest
and enjoy family time coupled with a heavy lunch. Most businesses will always shut down for a few
hours during this time. Conversely, the 21st century Spanish generation has slowly evaded this
cultural practice. Much as the big cities are constantly busy moving at faster paces similar to most
Western countries, smaller towns and villages nonetheless continue to take siestas as part of their daily
routine (Thyberg).
Attending Tapas: Tapa holds as one of the most famous Spanish traditions and a major tourist
attraction for centuries. However, Tapa has its roots from ancient Spain. Interestingly, Tapa is not
necessarily a specific food but a way of eating certain foods. They are always small portions of food
and can be any type of food packaged uniquely. Spanish terminology for Tapa is tapear and going for
Tapa hardly implies ordering several dishes in one particular restaurant, but bar hopping from one
restaurant to another eating a different Tapa for each round in every spot.
Spanish Flamenco: It s probably the most common and famous traditions in Spain but often
misunderstood by outsiders. To begin with, Flamenco is not actually a dancing style, although it might

auditory canal is to transport sound waves to the tympanic membrane (Mohua, 2016).
3.4.9. Ossicles
The ossicles are three little bones, which are located in the middle ear. The names of the bones are in
order; first is the malleus this bone is attached to the tympanic membrane. Next is the incus this the
second bone and is attached to the malleus. Last but not least the stapes is after the malleus but before
the oval window (Debara, T.I 2016). The main role for the ossicles are that they receive vibrations
from the tympanic membrane. When the ossicles receives the vibrations they then amplify
automatically; enabling them to transmit these vibrations to the oval window (Debara, T.I 2016). ...

Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure Essay
Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure
If a reader is given two short stories, two stories that are seemingly different on the surface, to read
and compare and contrast, a surprising amount of similarities and differences can be found. Unless
they deal with the same subject matter, most short stories aren t really related, until some analysis is
done. The stories A P, by John Updike, and An Ounce of Cure, by Alice Munro, are very similar but
very different. One of the mot important similarities between these two stories is the problems the
opposite sex causes for the main character. In A P, Sammy, the main character, quits his job because he

In An Ounce of Cure, the main character and her mother have to use and ounce of cure to try and
make up for the main character s mistakes. If only an ounce of prevention had been used, there
wouldn t have been any of those horrible problems that arose. These two stories are also very
different. The main difference is that Sammy takes less dramatic measures to resolve his problems
than the girl in An Ounce of Cure. Sammy only quits his job. Since he is young and it is summer time,
he shouldn t have any problems finding another job. The girl in An Ounce of Cure, however, takes far
more drastic measures to solver her problems. She tries to kill herself, gets drunk, and endangers the
lives of the two young children that she supposed to be watching. Another difference is that An Ounce
of Cure has far less detail in it than in A P. An Ounce of Cure is much longer, but much more
straightforward. It gives the story and a few extra details, but not many. On the other hand, A P
Sammy gives vivid details of everything around him. He paints a very clear picture of the store, the
young ladies, the other shoppers, and his every thought. Both main characters in these stories have
very different attitudes towards everything. Sammy, in A P, is very self assured. He realizes that he
may be making a mistake halfway through quitting his job, but goes through with it anyway. By

My Mother Essay
In most cases, we develop some outstanding qualities and attributes through training and learning.
However, my mother attained those unique qualities through life experience. From a very humble
background, she has struggled with life, passed through a lot to be the person she is today. She always
tells us that experience is the best teacher. Also, through proper parenthood. My grandparents were
very strict and observant. They laid a good foundation to my mother through teaching her on good
moral, and how to be responsible. Our parents always act as our role models, so when they teach us
good life techniques, there is the possibility of us being better than them. Hence, in one way or

She could not afford to get a sitter and pay her to look over us; hence, she was kind of socially
isolated.
Fatigue
Parenthood is usually meant to involve two players, that is husband and wife. To some cases, the man
may be irresponsible, or the woman may be single. My mother was always physically, emotionally
and spiritually worn out because of multitasking and overthinking. As a family, we depended on her,
and to some point, she had no power to provide on to us. She had to balance work and her health,
which was very challenging. She could not get ways to take a breather or refresh, as she was all
committed to giving us the best. She could not have enough sleep, as she was to wake up early in the
morning, prepare us and go to work.
My Mother s Impacts on to my Life
My mom inspired me on being hard working, responsible and accountable. Her perseverance in life
gave me the inspiration for putting more effort in any activity I undertake and get the best out of my
life. She had a goal of giving us a decent and comfortable life, and she made us proud of her.
Again, she impacted me with love and respect to other people. Since she was compassionate and
empathetic, I inherited an attribute of loving anyone despite their social background. In fact, I
wondered how she managed everything perfectly. She also surprised me of her kind nature.
Sometimes I could offend her, hurt her, but she still had that parental

Essay On Symbolism In Peter Cather
3. Cather uses many symbols throughout her story to express the essential aspects of the lives of the
characters. One example includes the badger. Cather writes, Don t be scared if you see anything look
out of that hole in the bank over there. That s a badger hole. He s about as big as a big possum, and his
face is striped, black and white. He takes a chicken once in a while, but I won t let the men harm him.
In a new country a body feels friendly to the animals. When she says In a new country a body feels
friends to the animals she is actually relating to Jim. Since Jim is in a new area that he has never been
to, a body (animal or human) can be somewhat comforting to have around. Another example is when
Cather writes, It s no better than a badger hole; no proper dugout at all. the symbol she uses is a
badgers hole. She says this because Peter Krajiek tricks the bohemian family because he is the only
interpreter and the Bohemians didn t speak enough english to ask for advice before buying his cave of
a house. She uses this symbol to describe how awful of a place the Bohemian family is staying in.
Lastly Cather uses the symbol of grass to describe the characters point of view and her point of view
when looking at the earth. Cather says, I felt motion in the landscape; in the fresh, easy blowing
morning wind, and in the earth itself, as if the shaggy grass were a sort of loose hide, and underneath it
herds of wild buffalo were galloping, galloping. Cather uses Jim to

Gangs And The United States
Gangs are very dangerous to everyone in society. Gangs are groups of people (mostly young males)
who band together for protection and a sense of belonging. The U.S. Department of Justice officially
defines a youth gang as a group of young people involved in criminal activity (Gangs 1). There are
about one million gang members in more than 20,00 criminally active gangs in the United States.
Also, that group of about one million people, are accountable for up to eighty percent of our nation s
crimes. Since 2005, gangs have nationally added about 200,000 members (Targeting Gangs 1). This is
why more action from the community needs to be taken to help with the growing gang related crimes
here in America.
To start off, origins of gangs are unclear, but some researchers say that gangs came to America in the
early 1800s. These first gangs were in New York and Philadelphia and members of these adult gangs
were from the Irish, German, and Italian ethnic groups. Youth gangs did not start to form until after
World War II (Opposing Viewpoints Gangs 109 110).
Additionally, what kind of people are in gangs? Well first off, there are Latinos, which make up forty
nine percent of gang members ; African Americans, thirty four percent; White, ten percent; Asian, six
percent; and the other one percent is just the other category ( Facts About Gangs 109). Also in 1996,
according to the National Youth Gang Survey, the members of gangs were fifty percent under eighteen
years old and fifty

Diagnosis Thyroid Cancer
Diagnosis of Thyroid Cancer: It is important for patients to understand how thyroid cancer is detected
and then officially diagnosed. What usually occurs is that a physician will remove a thyroid nodule or
take a tissue sample of the nodule for futher investigation. A pathologist then closely examines the
tissue sample or nodule under a microscope and decides if the nodule is benign (95% to 99% of all
nodules that are biopsied are benign) or malignant (less than 1% of all nodules, and about 1% to 5% of
nodules that are biopsied)1. The physician and pathologist conclude whether a diagnosis of thyroid
cancer is warranted, and also the type of thyroid cancer the patient has: papillary, follicular, medullary,

The Science Of Shopping Malcolm Gladwell Analysis
Article Analyzing Essay Malcolm Gladwell s piece, The Science of Shopping , causes his audience to
fear retail anthropologists such as Paco Underhill. On the surface, Gladwell appears to write a short
documentary of sorts about the manipulation of businesses and stores. Venturing deeper into the story
provides the reader with vision of the importance businesses place on their layouts and strategies.
Gladwell continues to assure his point that consumers are not mindlessly obeying what retailors want
them to do. Store owners are required to accommodate to how their customers behave, and what their
target market wants. Gladwell refers to significant moments with Underhill by directly quoting Paco.

The Theory Of The Drive Theory
Drive Theory The Drive theory was so named by Freud because of its emphasis on libidinal and
aggressive drives, which Freud considers to be the two principal motivating forces of human behavior,
and which barks for attention and expression. A child at birth is in a state of primary narcissism, and it
clamors to have its needs met irrespective of the comforts of others. The erogenous zones (mouth,
anus and genitals) are the avenues through which the energies are directed, and by stimulating these
areas, the child finds pleasure. If energies are not adequately released, anxiety results, but as the child
develops, it learns to regulate such forces for its ultimate good and that of others. Freud believes that

If human beings functioned solely from the Id s control center, there would be absolute chaos, since
people will do whatever they wish, whenever they wish, and wherever they wish, irrespective of
consequences. The Ego lives in both the conscious and the unconscious mind, and it represent the I of
the individual. The Ego functions like a good citizen, and acts as an intermediary between the Id, the
superego, and the external environment, to procure socially acceptable behavior. The ego coordinates
volition, and its main business is to protect self. It also regulates and suppresses the inordinate
promptings of the Id through reasoning and compromises, and is capable of delaying gratification for
the future. As maturation ensues, the ego expands, while the id shrinks, except in special cases where
the individual is fixated at the infantile level. Conditioned on the examination that people with strong
egos often have weak ids and superegos, Freud concludes that the relative distribution of energy
among these forces affects personality directly. Top of Form Bottom of Form The superego is the
conscience that grows out of parental prohibitions, and it represents the moral component of the
personality. Through the diminution of early narcissism, when the child begins to acknowledge its
limits, the superego imposes itself as a kind of watchdog over the ego, making sure that the

Life Of Pi Close Reading Analysis

Yann Martel manipulates the narrative style and structural devices within this passage to support the
will to survive theme that is present in Life of Pi. Before the shipwreck, Pi was a spiritual individual
with a strong appreciation for the joy and peace in life. Pi commonly experienced cruelty and doubt
from his family and friends; however, he remained calm by following the guidance from his three
religions. After the shipwreck, the spirituality within Pi s life was tampered with because the chaotic
and brute actions of the animals threatened to separate Pi from his peaceful demeanour. At first, Pi
maintained his interaction with God, but as the days passed and the conditions worsened, Pi s animal
instincts began to develop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Richard Parker is a manifestation of the qualities that Pi needs; however, an abundance of these
qualities will contribute to Pi s downfall. This concept is also represented later in the book when the
blind French cook tries to trick Pi. The cook s primitive side overpowered him, causing him to die in
the jaws of Richard Parker. If Pi did not tame his savagery, he would have been consumed by it, which
would be represented by a fatal attack from Richard Parker. While contemplating the confrontation of
his survival instincts, Pi says, to know that and to apply it are two very different things (Martel 246).
This quotation describes the concept of survival in a lifeboat and in the real world. In both settings, it
is difficult to deny yourself access to something that is lurking inside of you and pushing with so
much force. Whether this quality is easily spotted or difficult to uncover, it is important to study it and
decide if it is changing your character. Fortunately, Pi discovered early in his journey that the
primitive qualities he was developing for survival were threatening to dominate him. After taming his
savagery, Pi is pleased with his decisions and says Isn t that what all survivors say? (Martel 247). This
quotation depicts the satisfaction in taming your inner self, while still allowing your fierce qualities to

In today s world, customers often face a dilemma about whether to buy or lease. Lease is an
agreement in which one party gains a long term rental agreement, and the other party receives a form
of secured long term debt. On the other hand, buying involves transfer of ownership from seller to

The moment a product is sold it is considered as used product and price of the product is less. There
are some exceptions to this rule as land; gold etc. usually appreciates over time. For other products
customers are actually buying products that will depreciate over time. 4. Maintenance: Maintenance
cost is high for purchased products as after manufacturing warranty runs out customers need to pay
maintenance cost. 5. Technology: In today s world technology changes rapidly. By buying a product a
customer is stuck with that product or need to sell that product at depreciated price to get latest
product. 6. Life plans: Buying may be disadvantageous to people who are expecting changes in their
life. For example, from a single professional someone can become a parent of three in 3 years. So for
him/her selling a compact car after three years and replacing it with minivan is would be more
expensive then leasing the first car and simple returning it. 7. Hassle of disposing: For purchased

Behind the Beauty of Victoria s Secret Introduction: I remember the first time I ever stepped foot into

sparkling in the distance and the signature fragrances filled the air. I remember the feeling of finally
being grown up, here I was shopping for fragrances and bras in the same store that my Mom and Aunt

Symbolism In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
There are many symbols in As I Lay Dying. William Faulkner is known for symbols in his novels. The
character s names in this novel even have a meaning. Although they are hard to decipher, once the
symbol is revealed, it makes the novel much more interesting. Throughout the novel, we see that
almost every person s name in the Bundren family has a meaning, and every person has a symbol. The
last name has a meaning itself. Bundren sounds like burden, and that is exactly what the family is to
almost everyone. Starting with Anse, Faulkner uses his name to define the word anserous . Anserous
means resembling a goose; silly; simple. In Addie s chapter, she describes him as a tall bird hunched
in the cold weather (pg. 170). This explains Anse s goose like stature. His symbol throughout the
novel is self greed. Anse states after Addie s death, But now I can get them teeth (pg. 111). This just
proves how selfish he is and does not care about his wife s passing, only about his new teeth. Addie s
name is very simple and does not have a meaning, but her symbol is deep. She is always looking out
of the window at her coffin being built while she is lying in her bed. I believe Faulkner was showing
how badly Addie wants to go to the other side. Faulkner uses powerful imagery, It was nigh toward
daybreak when we drove the last nail and toted it into the house, where she was laying on the bed with
the window open and the rain blowing on her again (pg. 73). This shows how sad Addie is

Factors That Affect the Academic Performance of the...
By Kirk A. Johnson, Ph.D.
Few would argue that advanced teacher training does not make a difference in student achievement. In
fact, Professor William Sanders of the University of Tennessee argues persuasively that the single
most dominant factor affecting student academic gain is teacher effect. 1 However, little statistical
research is available for evaluating which type of training and teaching degree has the best effect on
student achievement. As the demand for higher academic achievement and accountability in public
education grows, it is important to determine whether teachers who hold advanced degrees in
education as a general field are more effective than those who have degrees in specific subjects like
English or math. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As put forward by Hijaz and Naqvi, there are many ways to weigh up different factors, which can
affect performance of students. It is most likely, that there is no universally accepted method to
measure the performance of students.
Literature Review Performance of a student depends upon many factors. Nevertheless, three factors,
family, teacher, and personal profile of students are most likely critical (Diaz, 2003). Significance of
factors may vary depending upon the context, culture, level of education etc. Family interaction and
Socio
Economic Status (SES) of family can play an important role in the performance of students. As said
by Schulz (2005), The socio economic status of families has been consistently found to be an
important variable in explaining variance in student s achievement (p. 3). Schulz explains that family
can contribute in many ways, for instance; it can provide financial, moral, and other necessary and
useful support to a student. They can provide a stimulating home environment to promote cognitive
development. All the same, the personal attention of a family and its members is a strong variable. As
identified by Hijaz and Naqvi (2006), merely access to better resources does not provide guarantee for
better performance of students and have established a negative correlation between the income of a
family and performance of a student. It may vary from situation to situation. Nevertheless, it is

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Orlogans
ADVANCES IN REINFORCED RESTORATIONS: A REVIEW ORMOCERS Ormocers, a word
originally derived from organically modified ceramic, were originally developed for science and
technology (e. g. for special surfaces like protective coatings, non stick surfaces, anti static coatings
and non reflective coatings). In contrast to conventional composites, the ormocer matrix is not only
organic but also inorganic. Therefore monomers are better embedded in the matrix what reduces the
release of monomers.(373) Ormocers basically consist of three components organic and inorganic
portions and the polysiloxanes. The proportions of those components can affect the mechanical,
thermal and optical qualities of the material: 1. The organic polymers influence the polarity, the ability
to cross link, hardness and optical behaviour. 2. The glass and ceramic components (inorganic
constituents) are responsible for thermal expansion and chemical stability. 3. The polysiloxanes
influence the elasticity, interface properties and processing. 4. The inorganic components are bound to
the organic polymers by multifunctional silane molecules. After polymerisation the organic portion of
the methacrylate groups form a three dimensional network.(374) In spite of all efforts to create a better

How Does One Sacrifice Something That Can t Be Held But...
Here is a riddle I learned during this school year. How does one sacrifice something that can t be held
but measured? If it can t be held, how can you give someone yours? Last clue: If it can be measured
why can t you save it up for different purposes? What are we talking about here? After three clues you
should have answered time. So how do people sacrifice time that can be measured, not held, and not
given? For that answer we need to talk to a god. Chronos is a Greek god of time, but unlike other
gods, sacrificing time wouldn t t please him. I have learned this firsthand by mostly trial and error. My
trial and error tests had me sitting on my comfy couch, legs up, facing my 60 inch (measured

though I had every intention to start my schoolwork. If Chronos was sitting next to me, the Greek god

sacrificing time rather then using it wisely. In a deep echoing god like voice Chrono honors me with
the best advice the Greek god of time could give, Use my time wisely or before you know it, your
time will be up mortal.
The Greek gods statement rang true to the same pitch of my ears as I turned off the TV and started my
paper. I turned my head to face face face Chronos and responded in my mortal weak words

Income Inequality In Education
In today s economic society, the presence of income inequality has only grown worse and shows no
visible signs of stopping. According to an economics professor Emmanuel Saez, U.S. income
inequality has been increasing steadily since the 1970s, and now has reached levels not seen since
1928. This calls for an alarm to the people in social groups such as women and low income families.
Income inequality is brought to life by factors the can be influenced by properties of our nations
policies. The economic and public policies in the United States has led to income inequality due to the
factors of education, discrimination, and monopoly power.
In the United States, education has been known cause a larger economic gap for income inequality to

According to Catharine Bond Hill, The increased net price that lower income students face, hurts both

lower paying jobs due to the inability to receive higher education. The ability of the federal

  • 2. The White And Black Progress During Segregation Time Period Introduction: There a hundred or more houses in the quarters. The streets of the quarters are unpacked, sandy places. The woods surround everything. Bull alligators can be heard booming like huge bass drums from the lake at night 1 Polk county mainly Central Florida was founded by wealthy white families in the mid 1800 s who sought opportunity of cattle and developed cities dedicated to their kind. Even with the success of building multiple towns with railroads, cattle, citrus production, and phosphate industry attracted blacks for job and property opportunities. With the migration of blacks to Polk county caused a ripple effect of segregation and for black to build up communities for their own people. African Americans defeated ... Polk county consists of two cities at the time Bartow which held the county seat and Fort Meade had the largest population by 1879. Known cities in Polk County were Lakeland, Bartow, and Fort Meade. Bartow became the county seat by Jacob Summerlin who was very wealthy and named king of Crackers, the owner of several of cattle and acres of land. Lakeland was established January 1, 1885 by Abraham Munn the first American who founded Lakeland with a purchase of 80 acres which is now the downtown area. 6 In the teens of 1900 s new towns were established such as Braley junction in 1910; Lake wales in 1911, unee in 1911, Crooked Lake in 1912, Lake Hamilton in 1913. 7 Pierce, Brewster, and Nicholas were built by the largest phosphate companies in southwest polk county as they could afford them. Alturas, east of Bartow, came into being in 1913. 8 Job Opportunities: Lakeland in the 1890 s only had the Tremont Hotel and the train depot for main attractions and also to help settlers travel through polk county. • 3. Why Do The Historic Theories Of The Origins Of Religion... Introduction Why study comparative religions? You could study religion for the same reason you study music or biology or drama. It is based on your interests. The second cultures of the world cannot be understood without a knowledge of the influence of religion on everyday life. Lastly, politics is a huge contribution for knowledge about world religions. How do the historic theories of the origins of religion begin? Well the first theory is Animistic Theory which Edward Burnett Tylor in his primitive culture Tylor hypothesized that primitive peoples developed a sense of the soul or the other from experiences with death and dreams. The nature worship theory was developed by Max Muller, an Oxford Professor. The magic theory in which Sir James Frazer wrote a huge book on religion called The Golden Bough . The first phase people attempted to control the world of nature through magic. Then the second phase people turned to religion with the premise that nature could be implored or begged to cooperate by the use of scarifies and offerings. The last phase was when religion failed people and turned to science showing a progress to a more rational understanding of nature. The last theory is religion as a projection of human needs which a German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach claimed that religions were essentially projections of the wishes and needs of humanity. There are many different ways to approach the study of religion. Even though this class is about religions it is our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Romeo And Juliet Film Analysis Baz Luhrmann s 1996 Romeo and Juliet plays with the genre of Shakespearean tragedy as much as it plays with it s chosen medium, film. It draws from it s Elizabethan language and also plays with the conventions of postmodernism, melding in aspects of popular 90 s film, like crime and mob movies. Luhrmann s use of intensified continuity, motifs, and exciting editing styles all serve to show you Shakespeare s poetics rather than recite the poetry to you. However, that is not to say that Luhrmann entirely leaves the text behind in his film. His overtly clever imagery and word play creates a world that is detailed, textured and intertextual. The level of detail in his world indicates that a certain level of fantastical realism remains in this film, but every aspect of that detail exists to serve the poetry and the understanding and entertainment of the audience. There is never a detail that is too realist to the point of redundancy, it s all innately clever. Luhrmann is in every sense of the term, a film poet. Baz Luhrmann s use of the filmic mode is made glaringly clear from the prologue sequence. The entire thing revels in the convention of film. He draws attention to his playfulness with film convention in having one of the very first image of his film of a tv screen. The introductory monologue: Two households, both alike in dignity/ (In fair Verona, where we lay our scene)... • 5. Choir Critique The following is a performance critique of the Lakeview Middle School Winter Choir concert held on Monday, December 12, 2016. The performance was held in the Lakeview middle School Gymnasium. The concert was performed by the 7th grade choir, master choir, and the 8th grade choir, and directed by Mr. Bellof. After watching the performance on a video my overall reaction was very good. I believe all the choirs did an excellent job of portraying the Christmas and Winter festivities through music. The first performance was given by the Lakeview Middle SChool 7th grade choir. The first song sung was Going on a Sleigh Ride by: Sally blah blah. The choir as a whole did well on this song by having good articulation and volume. I could clearly hear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first song sung by the 8th grade choir was Bi Bom by: David Hill. The choir did well on this song by having good tempo and volume. At the end it was very cool to hear the choir speed up the song and throughout the song the maintain a steady volume. I believe if they wished to improve, the 8th grade choir could work on their articulation and balance. • 10. Nordic Countries Built on a Culture of Equality and... The notion of consensual politics in Nordic countries is built on a culture of equality and the importance of persistently trustworthy behaviour which are based on a common set of values (Delhey and Newton, 2004). These Nordic countries include Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark. The following values, institutional and political characteristics are typically highlighted when making reference to these countries: egalitarianism by means of universal and generous social insurance systems, solidarity, public welfare service systems, proactive labour market and finally agreed industrial policies which maintain a level of consensus within Nordic politics (Strandberg, 2006). These characteristics have been one of the main reasons for the development of their comprehensive welfare provisions, which creates a sense of solidarity among these countries (Kuhnle, 1991: Peterson, 1994 cited in Lee Miles, 1996). This paper will start by assessing and defining the existence of consensual Nordic politics today by discussing how it had been in the past, and then looking at the future of consensual politics in Nordic countries. Also in this essay the two countries, which will be compared, are Finland and Sweden showing, which state has maintained a consensual form of policy making and which have had more of a decline and how it got to that point. It will then go on to explain the reasons for the decline and what sort of reforms can be done in order to ensure a rise in consensual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Object Relational Mapping ( Orm ) Object Relational Mapping (ORM) is a programming technique for converting data between incompatible types in object oriented programming languages. ORM can be considered as a mechanism that helps and aids in addressing, accessing and manipulating data without having to necessarily consider the relationship between the data and the data source. Programmers can maintain a constant view of objects over time and can adapt to application access or data delivery changes while using ORM. ORM manages the mapping properties amongst a set of objects that have underlying relational databases, repositories or other sources of data that simultaneously hide constant details that have been changed in related interfaces from the developers and the code they create. ORM makes it theoretically possible for developers to switch applications between relational databases. Since ORM tools mostly rely heavily on metadata of both the database and objects, the objects do not need to know anything about the database and the database doesn t need to know anything about how the data is structured in the application. ORM provides a clean well designed data application. Advantages of ORM The most important key feature of using ORM is the mapping it uses to bind an object to its database. ORM performs the task of managing the application s interactions with the database. There are various number of benefits to using ORM for development of database applications. The U.S. Department of Justice officially defines a youth gang as a group of young people involved in criminal activity (Gangs 1). There are about one million gang members in more than 20,00 criminally active gangs in the United States. • 27. Diagnosis Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis of Thyroid Cancer: It is important for patients to understand how thyroid cancer is detected and then officially diagnosed. What usually occurs is that a physician will remove a thyroid nodule or take a tissue sample of the nodule for futher investigation. A pathologist then closely examines the tissue sample or nodule under a microscope and decides if the nodule is benign (95% to 99% of all nodules that are biopsied are benign) or malignant (less than 1% of all nodules, and about 1% to 5% of nodules that are biopsied)1. • 28. The Science Of Shopping Malcolm Gladwell Analysis Article Analyzing Essay Malcolm Gladwell s piece, The Science of Shopping , causes his audience to fear retail anthropologists such as Paco Underhill. On the surface, Gladwell appears to write a short documentary of sorts about the manipulation of businesses and stores. Venturing deeper into the story provides the reader with vision of the importance businesses place on their layouts and strategies. Gladwell continues to assure his point that consumers are not mindlessly obeying what retailors want them to do. Store owners are required to accommodate to how their customers behave, and what their target market wants. Gladwell refers to significant moments with Underhill by directly quoting Paco. He also vividly describes different aspects of Paco s practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gladwell provides his opinions regarding the expertise Underhill displays for his field. Gladwell claims that Underhill watches his videos of people shopping very closely, ...because every moment or gesture means something to Paco (99). This statement tells the audience nothing escapes Paco. Every subtle gesture he sees is somehow of value to the decisions he makes. • 29. The Theory Of The Drive Theory Drive Theory The Drive theory was so named by Freud because of its emphasis on libidinal and aggressive drives, which Freud considers to be the two principal motivating forces of human behavior, and which barks for attention and expression. A child at birth is in a state of primary narcissism, and it clamors to have its needs met irrespective of the comforts of others. The erogenous zones (mouth, anus and genitals) are the avenues through which the energies are directed, and by stimulating these areas, the child finds pleasure. If energies are not adequately released, anxiety results, but as the child develops, it learns to regulate such forces for its ultimate good and that of others. Freud believes that three components of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If human beings functioned solely from the Id s control center, there would be absolute chaos, since people will do whatever they wish, whenever they wish, and wherever they wish, irrespective of consequences. The Ego lives in both the conscious and the unconscious mind, and it represent the I of the individual. The Ego functions like a good citizen, and acts as an intermediary between the Id, the superego, and the external environment, to procure socially acceptable behavior. The ego coordinates volition, and its main business is to protect self. It also regulates and suppresses the inordinate promptings of the Id through reasoning and compromises, and is capable of delaying gratification for the future. As maturation ensues, the ego expands, while the id shrinks, except in special cases where the individual is fixated at the infantile level. Conditioned on the examination that people with strong egos often have weak ids and superegos, Freud concludes that the relative distribution of energy among these forces affects personality directly. Top of Form Bottom of Form The superego is the conscience that grows out of parental prohibitions, and it represents the moral component of the personality. Through the diminution of early narcissism, when the child begins to acknowledge its limits, the superego imposes itself as a kind of watchdog over the ego, making sure that the ... Before the shipwreck, Pi was a spiritual individual with a strong appreciation for the joy and peace in life. Pi commonly experienced cruelty and doubt from his family and friends; however, he remained calm by following the guidance from his three religions. After the shipwreck, the spirituality within Pi s life was tampered with because the chaotic and brute actions of the animals threatened to separate Pi from his peaceful demeanour. If Pi did not tame his savagery, he would have been consumed by it, which would be represented by a fatal attack from Richard Parker. While contemplating the confrontation of his survival instincts, Pi says, to know that and to apply it are two very different things (Martel 246). This quotation describes the concept of survival in a lifeboat and in the real world. In both settings, it is difficult to deny yourself access to something that is lurking inside of you and pushing with so much force. Whether this quality is easily spotted or difficult to uncover, it is important to study it and decide if it is changing your character. Fortunately, Pi discovered early in his journey that the primitive qualities he was developing for survival were threatening to dominate him. • 36. Symbolism In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying There are many symbols in As I Lay Dying. William Faulkner is known for symbols in his novels. The character s names in this novel even have a meaning. Although they are hard to decipher, once the symbol is revealed, it makes the novel much more interesting. Throughout the novel, we see that almost every person s name in the Bundren family has a meaning, and every person has a symbol. The last name has a meaning itself. Bundren sounds like burden, and that is exactly what the family is to almost everyone. Starting with Anse, Faulkner uses his name to define the word anserous . Anserous means resembling a goose; silly; simple. In Addie s chapter, she describes him as a tall bird hunched in the cold weather (pg. 170). This explains Anse s goose like stature. His symbol throughout the novel is self greed. Anse states after Addie s death, But now I can get them teeth (pg. 111). This just proves how selfish he is and does not care about his wife s passing, only about his new teeth. Addie s name is very simple and does not have a meaning, but her symbol is deep. She is always looking out of the window at her coffin being built while she is lying in her bed. I believe Faulkner was showing how badly Addie wants to go to the other side. Faulkner uses powerful imagery, It was nigh toward daybreak when we drove the last nail and toted it into the house, where she was laying on the bed with the window open and the rain blowing on her again (pg. 73). This shows how sad Addie is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, Professor William Sanders of the University of Tennessee argues persuasively that the single most dominant factor affecting student academic gain is teacher effect. 1 However, little statistical research is available for evaluating which type of training and teaching degree has the best effect on student achievement. As the demand for higher academic achievement and accountability in public education grows, it is important to determine whether teachers who hold advanced degrees in education as a general field are more effective than those who have degrees in specific subjects like English or math. ... It is most likely, that there is no universally accepted method to measure the performance of students. Literature Review Performance of a student depends upon many factors. Nevertheless, three factors, family, teacher, and personal profile of students are most likely critical (Diaz, 2003). Significance of factors may vary depending upon the context, culture, level of education etc. Family interaction and Socio Economic Status (SES) of family can play an important role in the performance of students. As said by Schulz (2005), The socio economic status of families has been consistently found to be an important variable in explaining variance in student s achievement (p. 3). Schulz explains that family can contribute in many ways, for instance; it can provide financial, moral, and other necessary and useful support to a student. They can provide a stimulating home environment to promote cognitive development. All the same, the personal attention of a family and its members is a strong variable. As identified by Hijaz and Naqvi (2006), merely access to better resources does not provide guarantee for better performance of students and have established a negative correlation between the income of a family and performance of a student. It may vary from situation to situation. Nevertheless, it is difficult to refute and defy the role of family in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Orlogans ADVANCES IN REINFORCED RESTORATIONS: A REVIEW ORMOCERS Ormocers, a word originally derived from organically modified ceramic, were originally developed for science and technology (e. g. for special surfaces like protective coatings, non stick surfaces, anti static coatings and non reflective coatings). In contrast to conventional composites, the ormocer matrix is not only organic but also inorganic. Therefore monomers are better embedded in the matrix what reduces the release of monomers.(373) Ormocers basically consist of three components organic and inorganic portions and the polysiloxanes. The proportions of those components can affect the mechanical, thermal and optical qualities of the material: 1. The organic polymers influence the polarity, the ability to cross link, hardness and optical behaviour. 2. The glass and ceramic components (inorganic constituents) are responsible for thermal expansion and chemical stability. 3. The polysiloxanes influence the elasticity, interface properties and processing. 4. The inorganic components are bound to the organic polymers by multifunctional silane molecules. After three clues you should have answered time. So how do people sacrifice time that can be measured, not held, and not given? For that answer we need to talk to a god. Chronos is a Greek god of time, but unlike other gods, sacrificing time wouldn t t please him. I have learned this firsthand by mostly trial and error. My trial and error tests had me sitting on my comfy couch, legs up, facing my 60 inch (measured diagonally) watching a TV show. My MacBook computer would be on my lap being ignored even though I had every intention to start my schoolwork. If Chronos was sitting next to me, the Greek god would smell of times lost and be fuming from his mouths, all three of them. I was in every sense sacrificing time rather then using it wisely. In a deep echoing god like voice Chrono honors me with the best advice the Greek god of time could give, Use my time wisely or before you know it, your time will be up mortal. According to an economics professor Emmanuel Saez, U.S. income inequality has been increasing steadily since the 1970s, and now has reached levels not seen since 1928. This calls for an alarm to the people in social groups such as women and low income families. Income inequality is brought to life by factors the can be influenced by properties of our nations policies. The economic and public policies in the United States has led to income inequality due to the factors of education, discrimination, and monopoly power. In the United States, education has been known cause a larger economic gap for income inequality to fill and sustain itself. This gap can be directly correlated with the price or tuition costs of education. According to Catharine Bond Hill, The increased net price that lower income students face, hurts both their enrollment and completion. The high cost of education causes low income individuals to receive lower paying jobs due to the inability to receive higher education. The ability of the federal government to participate in policies have slightly decreased over the years. When it comes to the reduction of policies, the correlation between an increase in the income inequality of education can be seen. This occurs because government policies are responsible for changes such as allocating resources to entities such as education. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
