• Slice a beetroot in 8 to 10 pieces
• Prepare dilutions of ethanol from 0 to 100
• Put each beetroot slice in one lab tube
• Check the cells permeability in
colorimeter device or by the appearance
• Try to draw an absorption curve

Prepare 3 solutions
• 0.3 molar ethylene glycol
• 0.3 molar glycerol
• 0.3 molar glucose /saccharose
Put 2 ml of each solution in a lab
tube
Add 2 drops of blood
See what happens

10. Effects of solubility of substances on cell membrane permeability
Have 3 alcohol substances prepared :
• Methyl alcohol
• Butyric alcohol
• Ethylic alcohol
Put 2 ml of these alcohol in lab tube
Add 2 drops of blood to each one
See what happens
