Contusions are a type of closed wounds that result from physical trauma. While the outer skin tissues remain intact, other tissues underneath the skin may have gotten damaged. These wounds are often thought to be bruises. There are some risks, however, and the worst might be a hematoma. Doctors also call these blood tumours. When these are left untreated, they may expand and damage the outer skin.
