Surveying Ice Conservation Attempts Over the years, the topic of climate change is discussed more
frequently, and virtually everyone has their own stance on it. The source of the changing climate is
believed to be from the excess carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere. Since climate
change is such a complex topic, experts are often consulted for their vast knowledge in their respected
fields. Climate change can be seen in many different parts of nature, but the documentary Chasing Ice
focuses mainly on the glacial movement of various patches of ice in many different locations. The
documentary is directed by Jeff Orlowski and follows the journey of photographer James Balog and
his crew attempting to obtain evidence of climate change. Balog and his team trek through treacherous
terrain and environments in order to set up time lapse stations that take pictures of glaciers. The
pictures were stitched together to create presentations that would show the effects of climate change.
Orlowski uses elements of rhetoric in Chasing Ice through the use of facts, data, experts, and the
overcoming major roadblocks in an attempt to influence global warming skeptics. Even though the use
of these methods connect well, the lack of focus on a specific topic, the absence of acknowledgement

Analysis of Atmospheric Effects on Free Space Optical Communication
The Free space optical Communication (FSO) technology enables high interconnection speed in next
generation services. FSO uses laser links between the transmitter and receiver and provides a lesser
propagation delay due to the line of sight (LOS) path and lower air refractive index. The performance
of the links highly dependent on different weather conditions such as Fog, Turbulence and Rain. In
this paper the combined result of Fog, Rain and Turbulence on FSO links are compared and the better
modulation technique is suggested to increase the spacing between optical transmitter and receiver.

CO2 Evolved due to Temperature s Effect on Yeast Fermentation of Glucose
Abstract
This experiment measured the amount of CO2 evolved based on yeast fermentation of glucose. It was
hypothesized that at room temperature, about 22 degrees Celsius, less CO2 would be produced than
when tested at 37 degrees Celsius. In order to determine the amount of CO2 evolved, an experiment
was set up involving yeast, glucose, deionized water, and heat. To begin the experiment, six
fermentation flasks were acquired. Six milliliters of 10% glucose was pipetted into each flask,
followed by 10 mL of deionized water and 8 mL of the prepared yeast solution. After each flask was
placed at the appropriate temperatures necessary for the experiment, the production of CO2 started to
be monitored. Data was recorded consecutively every two minutes over a time period of twenty
minutes, and recorded in a data chart. The average CO2 production at 37 degrees Celsius and 22
degrees Celsius was determined from the t test results. According to these results, the average amount
of CO2 produced after twenty minutes at 37 degrees Celsius was 123 millimeters, and the average

Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive about
preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried chicken,
macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and consumption
of soul food have been a staple in my family s tradition for many generations. Perchance the food
tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it s the Macy s Thanksgiving Day parade. I
