The best historical place in town/neighbourhood: Students compete each other to
tell the class as many historical places in their country as possible.
Link to textbook: Tieng Anh 7 (New), Unit 6, page 62.
Difficulty level: Medium
Materials needed: A4 or A3 paper
Time: 15 - 20 mins
Procedure:
1. Put the students into groups of 4 and ask them to list down as many historical
places as they can. Ask them to write on A4 or A3 paper.
2. Stick their work on the board and tick off the correct ones and then announce the
winning group.
3. Ask them now to work in the same group and choose the best place to introduce
to a group of foreign students who have been to your town for the first time.
4. Remind them to explain the reasons and add what those students can enjoy/do in
that place.
5. Each group takes turns to present their decision.
6. Encourage other groups to ask questions so that the presenting groups have
chances to defend their ideas.
7. Finally, provide some feedback on students’ presentation and ornganise a class
vote for the best historical place.
