Tet’s advice to foreigners: Students works in groups and work out different pieces of
advice to foreigners who spend their vacation during Vietnamese Tet holidays.
Link to textbook: Tieng Anh 6 (New), Unit 6, page 61.
Difficulty level: Medium
Materials needed: None
Time: 15 mins
Procedure:
1. Tell students that a group of foreign students are going to spend their vacation in
Vietnam during Tet and they would like to enjoy Tet with local people but they
don’t know what they should or shouldn’t not do
2. Put the class into different groups and tell them to think about what they should
and should not do. Eg: They should offer best wishes to local people or they
should not break things on the first day.
3. Go round the class and take some notes both interesting points and errors.
4. Invite each group to present their list of advice and encourage others to comment.
5. When the presentation stage is over, try to highlight some errors both of grammar
and pronunciation on the board and ask students to correct them. If they can’t,
you should provide correct ways of using language.
