Your favourite historic heroes: Students work in groups to exchange their favourite
historic heroes.
Link to textbook: Tieng Anh 7 (New), Unit 6, page 64&65..
Difficulty level: Medium
Materials needed: None
Time: 15 mins
Procedure:
1. Ask students that from their history lessons whether they know any heroes in
Vietnamese history.
2. Elicit ideas from the class and write up the names on the board. If they find it hard
to recall the names, the teacher can provide some names such as: Chu Van An, Ly
Thanh Tong, Bui Thi Xuan, Hai Ba Trung, Phan Boi Chau, Ho Chi Minh,....
3. Now ask them to work individually to choose one favourite name and prepare a
short talk about that figure.
4. Their talk should include:
- When s/he was born ...............
- What s/he was like ...............
- What s/he did for the country/nation ................
- What you admired about him/her ................
5. Go round the class to provide some more ideas about those figures if you can.
Don’t forget to take some notes of common errors.
6. Feedback: ask each group whether they have chosen the same hero or different
and there are any interesting information they have just learnt about those figures.
7. Tell students that they have done a great job and that it’s better if the following
errors could be avoided. Write the sentences on the board and ask for the
correction from the class.
