Analysis Of Samuel Satti s The Joy Of Exercising In...
Moderation is a trait that could mean to be self controlled, or to do certain activities gradually over
time. Some activities that would require self control could be something as simple as, exercising and
eating. If a person exercises excessively then they are showing an unhealthy addiction that can be
harmful, just as over eating can result in being overweight which is also destructive to the body. Now
conducting oneself moderately can bring a person joy because they will not feel obligated to follow a
strict routine. Samuel Sattin s The Joy of Exercising in Moderation , discusses the importance of
moderation being incorporated into one s life, by using anecdote, first person, and a critical tone. As
the author continuously integrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sattin states, But there are also people who cannot seem to see the positive effects of physicality on a
daily basis. My outlook in particular began to change when my wife after months of subtle cajoling
got me to attend a yoga like stretch class. Here the author basically realizes and relates to people that
might struggle with a slow yet consistent exercise routine. Also, Sattin further articulates that he has
found that his opinion of exercising is changing from not working out because of bad influences, to a
daily easy workout that he can gradually make a habit. He explains revealing his awakening, Exercise
was not about competition. It was about what makes you feel better. After the class I took with her, as
opposed to feeling repulsed, I realized that my body had been asking me to treat it better for a long,
long time. When the author shares his feelings to his change in attitude to moderately exercising, he
explains that he found a sense of delight knowing he was doing something to help him, but not
overdoing it which could be harmful. The use of Sattin s first person provides a close connection
between the reader and him which helps explain how applying moderation is changing his

Theme Of A Utopian Society
Part One One of the major themes Mitchell plays with in his novel is the concept of a utopian society,
and what it is comprised of. In each story, there is a setup for a perfect society, but humanity, or
humanity s spirit got in the way. Each story represents how the interpretation of things can shape a
society, depending on how literal they take the events. In the story Sloosha s Crossin an Everythin
After , the tales are in place to develop the role of each character. Zachry fights his inner demons, just
as Truman Napes does with Old Georgie. Zachry chooses to protect and befriend Meronym, even
though it goes against his initial judgement. Meronym fights for the overall good of the people just as
the crow does in Prescient yarnie . She goes out and lives with the villagers to gather information, and
saves Zachry s sister. She is making diplomatic decisions to take on the risk of changing the course of
things by helping her. The function of Zachry and Meronym are to be foils of each other, even the
story is told from the biased perspective of Zachry. Meronym is focused on long term goals, and the
redevelopment of society, while Zachry is very much focused on the present time, and the folklore that
affects his day to day life.
On a small scale, their stories are not important, which is how Mitchell intended it to be. In the novel
as whole, their place is more significant. Each tale foreshadows what could become prevalent in the
future. Zachry s story is the last in

Effects Of Contract Law On Society
Effects of Contract Law on Society As defined by The Law Dictionary, a contract is an agreement,
upon sufficient consideration, to do or not to do a particular thing. (1) Basically, contracts are
promises that are enforceable by law. And, if one party does not keep his promise, the law provides a
remedy by the breaching party. In order for a contract to be enforceable by law, the contract must
include a valid offer, an acceptance of the offer, and adequate consideration. Contacts are primarily
governed by statutory and common law. Uniform Commercial Code The Uniform Commercial Code
(UCC), according to the website USLegal.com, is a set of laws that provide legal rules and regulations
governing commercial or business dealings and transactions. (2) The Uniform Commercial Code was
published in 1952 but has seen several revisions since that time. The UCC has been adopted by all
states though it may not be exact among all states. The UCC provides regulations for the sale of
personal property and helps bring standardization to business laws so there can be some standard of
uniformity amongst the states. (3) The UCC is broken into nine articles that each addresses a different
area of commercial law. Elements of a Contract The three main elements of a contract are offer,
acceptance, and consideration. Each element must be present in order to have a legally binding
contract. First, one party, the offeror, makes a valid offer to another party, the offeree.

Examples Of Consumerism In The Invisible Man
Although the Invisible Man talks a lot about racial issues and the struggles of the black community, to
me the Death of a Salesman defies the concept of racial determinism more effectively. The Invisible
Man in a way reinforces the concept of racial determinism through the novel. The idea that the
protagonist has to accept certain stereotypes just because of what his grandfather told him agree em to

with them. Is until the epilogue that there is a confrontation against prejudice in general. Nevertheless,

1. What is the definition of Eugenics based on a video clip of Edwin Black?
According to Edwin Black, eugenics is the effort to create a white, blue eyed, blond haired, Nordic
master race in the United States, and wipe away the existence of everyone who did not fit that ideal .
Black goes further by explaining the implementation of this ideal, saying Now who did they want to
wipe away? They wanted to wipe away Mexicans, Italians. They wanted to wipe away the Asians the
Jews, those who they believed were feeble minded, the Deaf, the poor.
The Oxford University Press defines eugenics as the science of improving a human population by
controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics with a further and
rather illuminating explanation which states, Developed largely by Francis Galton as a method of
improving the human race, it fell into disfavor only after the perversion of its doctrines by the Nazis .
2. What did you learn exactly from Edwin Black that you may have not learned in American History?
If I had been asked when eugenics began in practice, I would likely have pointed at Nazi era Europe
prior to seeing Edwin Black s presentation. However, at the conclusion of his speech I found myself
shaken by the fact that eugenics was in practice in California before and during Nazi power. I had
thought of California as, in the past, a brave frontier, and at present, a shining beacon of

Free Will In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
We live in an existence where we dream and make plans to achieve those dreams. Dreams are fuel for
life because it gives you hope that everything will be alright and it give paths to follow when you don
t have any. Sometimes dreams don t go as planned, as a matter of fact they can be shattered into
million pieces in few seconds. It does not matter how well thought out your plans were, but they can
be destroyed because you don t know what is going to happen in the future. Things are predestined
and they will happen no matter how much you try to avoid it. Our future is not in our control so, when
we try to alter our fate, we mess it up even more. In John Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men,

have a planned future so they won t have to live an ordinary and static life of a migrant worker. Also,
George and Lennie want to have their own ranch and live there without any trouble. As a good friend,
George tries his best to keep Lennie out of trouble as much as possible. So he tells him not to interact
with Curly because he is a walking trouble. George explains to Lennie, Look, Lennie. You try to keep
away from him, will you? Don t never speak to him if he comes in here you move clear to the other
side of the room (Steinbeck, 29). The point is that George does not want Lennie to get in any feud
with Curley he is the boss s son. Therefore he is trying to ensure that Lennie does not get into any

uppercuts, jabs and crosses that leave your arms, chest and shoulders totally worked out and tired in
just a few minutes. For the lower body, a kickboxing session applies front kicks, round house kicks,
and side kicks to tone your thighs and butt within a short time. 4. Improves Coordination At the
beginning, coordinating your body to move at the right pace and to throw those jabs and kicks at the
right intervals and impact can be difficult. However, a kickboxing instructor will guide in adopting the
perfect pace and help you focus on proper technique and movements. As each workout builds on a
previous one, the sessions gradually become more intense as you graduate to advanced combinations.
The impact of this is that you will have better balance, flexibility, coordination and sharpened reflexes.
5. Relieves Stress Are you looking for an effective stress reliever? Besides the physical benefits of
kickboxing, the sport has great mental benefits. It not only relieves your stress, but it also improves
your confidence. Next time you have a challenging project that s stressing you, consider throwing a

Illinois House of Representative in 1992 and then won the US House Seat for Illinois in 1996. All of
this was nice for the ascetic view of his political resume, but behind the veil he was a devious, cynical,

Prop 227 Points of Contention Essay
What are the main points of contention surrounding this issue? Be sure to thoroughly discuss
contrasting perspectives and the underlying reasons explaining the different positions people take on
this topic.
The main arguments surrounding Prop 227, is whether or not bilingual programs should be in schools
in California. Some argue that having bilingual programs doesn t help the student to learn English, it
just reinforces their native language. Also it has be said that test scores supposedly did not improve in
the bilingual programs. On the other hand though, people are arguing that the English Immersion
programs do not work because for smaller children they must learn how to read and write in their
native language to be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with both bilingual education and English as a second language instruction in the United
States lies in our unwillingness to treat English for non speakers as an academic subject (Haas, 2007).
While the bilingual programs in California are thought to be mostly for people who speak Spanish,
there are also Asian students that need to be taught proper English before continuing their education.
As one anonymous teacher points out: I have had 32 different languages spoken in my classroom over
a 25 year period. Eighty four languages are spoken in our district. (Anon 1998 Haas 2007). Which for
most teachers mean that it is both educationally and economically impossible to teach every student in
their own native language.
In contrast, the people against Prop 227, state that the Prop creates too much chaos and does not
support every learner. Adaptations and modifications are not allowed for non native English speakers
(i.e. all public school instruction will be conducted in English) (Linton, 2007). The change from
bilingual education to English Immersion was of great confusion for both students and parents, due to
the sudden change in consistency between districts, school, and teachers. Prop 227 threatened teachers
and administration with legal penalties if they tried to teach or a help a student in a foreign language.
Some that are opposed to Prop 227,

Speech On Blood Donation
The Gift of Life You re always somebody s type. Maybe not in the sense of finding love, but at least in
donating blood. When individuals are asked why they donate blood, their response is simple, it is
heartwarming as well as a rewarding feeling. Individuals can donate at blood drives and
hospitals.Donors can either walk in or schedule an appointment. Donating blood is not easy for some
people, especially if it is the first time, they may not know what to expect and they may be nervous. It
is phlebotomist or employee at the blood donation center job to make the person feel welcome and
help them overcome any fears they may have.We need as many donors as we can get to try and reach
our number for how many pints of blood are required. Although we have blood banks like Bonfils;
which is one of many locations Colorado has for a bigger supply of blood to help us out in case of an
emergency. We simply would not have enough blood for the affected victims because we are short on
blood donations; supply and demand for donation are too high; diagnoses and transportation of blood
would take too long.
As we begin, although we are thousands of pints short on blood, we would not be able to help large
number of victims in a big emergency, through more blood donations. If we were in need of lots of
blood we would have lots of donors lining up outside blood donor locations to help the cause. For
example, the Las Vegas shooting massacre. Fifty nine people were confirmed dead and more than

Theme Of Snow Country
The setting is the basis upon which the story of a novel develops, as it has a tremendous effect on what
happens in the story. In the novel Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata the setting plays a pivotal role
in highlighting prominent themes such as, Loneliness, Wasted Love and Wasted Beauty. Snow country
is the literal translation of the Japanese title Yukiguni . The name comes from where the story takes
place or rather where the story is set ; a village (rural area) on an island in Japan that receives a huge
amount of snow during the season of winter . The title Snow Country it self induces a slight hint of the
setting that the story would be established on. Snow Country explores the mundane relationship

loneliness in the characters of the novel.
The setting of the story which is cold and isolated; for instance The train came out of the long tunnel
into the snow country. The earth lay white under the night sky helps to portray the isolation in the
atmosphere at the beginning. Even though Kawabata has chosen a Japanese landscape vibrant in
natural beauty as the setting for a fleeting love story the isolation of the entire region adds effect to the
theme of loneliness and aids to the characters development. Shimamura isolates himself from his
family and from the world to visit a resort in an isolated region where he has a rather mundane
relationship which is fleeting like snow, with a geisha (Komako) who suffers from Loneliness; it is
evident that the setting influences the development of the character s characteristic. It is interesting to

capable of making memorable and artistic observations of the world around him Along the coast the

recognizing that not only is the aftermarket profitable, but it also can drive significant competitive
advantage as a customer service differentiator (Kevin O Brian 2005)
An initial evaluation of accounting and inventory systems for all the Riordan Enterprise locations is
required. We need to know what software is currently in use and how effective it is. If our evaluation
determines that, the existing software is not performing all of the needed requirements it will be
necessary to upgrade them as well. Next, we will need to evaluate their existing hardware to determine
its integrity. If the hardware is also outdated, another evaluation will be necessary to determine what
will replace it. If the evaluation of the hardware determines that the existing equipment is adequate,
then we can proceed with the software upgrade. The request specifically asks for a complete system
that is faster and interrelated into all of the locations. After the evaluations are complete a list of
additional hardware will be generated and a timeline of what to be installed / upgraded where.

Jack Johnson Wins The Olga Championship By Randy Roberts
The author, Randy Roberts in his article Jack Johnson wins the Heavyweight Championship sheds
light on the fight of Jack Johnson with Tommy Burns, he highlights the racial attitude in the twentieth
century. Roberts opens his article by mentioning about the concerned whites, as the author proceeds,
according to the whites it was a tragic and saddest day of their lives as the race won. While Dixie was
agitated, firstly because of the Booker T. Washington dined at the White House and secondly was the
victory of Jack Johnson. However, the blacks rejoiced all over the United States with this news.
Roberts mentions about a journalist report, it stated that the genuine satisfaction the blacks
experienced with the single victory of Johnson was not been observed in forty years.
The author then mentions many industries concern about the blacks being enthusiastic to enter in

Reading this novel you would find a young girl in a world all by yourself due to an abusive father.
This story is called Smile for the Camera, by Kelle James. There s a 16 year old girl named Kelle

her any good. Her plan was to become a rich model and live off her modeling money, but it all didn t
work out as planned. When Kelle arrived in the megalopolitan area she lived in the Barbizon Hotel for
Women where she could start her journey for modeling event s called go sees, which is the first step in

Throughout Kelle s experiences she meets men, other models, and she learns a significant amount of
good and bad advices. In my opinion the book was a unique plot and it had me intrigued all the way
till the end the pages were an ease to go through and I wish there was more to offer, as to more books.
There was always some drama going on in the book so I would never set it down for a break. I would
like for the series to continue if it could, but overall it was a very great and I would read it again. In
this reading it shows how the life of a teenager living on her own can be really difficult without a
parent, but can be good for the young girl because she can learn from her mistakes and it gives the
teen a good life lesson on the consequences. Throughout the book Kelle grows up and faces many
challenges. Most young teen readers can relate to Kelle since most of us teens are starting to think
about life all on there own and they can have an real idea of what it would look

Kamehameha s Account In The Ka Nupepa Kuokoa
There are differing versions of Kamehameha I s birth. Hawaiian historian Samuel Kamakau published
an account in the Ka Nupepa Kuokoa in 1867, which was widely accepted until February 10, 1911.
The version written by Kamakau and held by Fornander was challenged by the oral family history of
the Kaha family as published in a series of newspaper articles also appearing in the Kuoko. After the
republication of the story by Kamakau to a larger English reading public in 1911 Hawaii, another
version of the story was published by Kamaka Stillman, who had objected to the Nupepa article. Her
version is verified by others within the Kaha family
Kamehameha is considered the son of Keōua, founder of the House of Keoua, and Kekuʻiʻapoiwa II.

always been on the rise across the globe. In fact, there have been many horrific atrocities committed
world wide under the name of ethnic cleansing. However, it is important to note that ethnic issues

Jewish people because he believed that Jews were dominating Germany in all fields. Furthermore, in

Pogroms according to OED, is an organized massacre of a particular ethnic group. Additionally,
pogrom is a word Russian which basically means to wreak havoc, to demolish violently.[iv]
Therefore, it can easily inferred from the definition of Pogroms how the Igbo people began to feel
insecure and unsafe in Nigeria after the counter coup and government sponsored pogroms. For
instance, Achebe in his book, There was a Country writes that the July 1966 counter coup and the
pogroms against the Igbo people, killed over thirty thousand civilian men, women and children were
slaughtered, hundreds of thousands were wounded, maimed and violates, their homes and property
looted and burned and no one asked any questions. [v]This statement of Achebe clearly illustrates how
because of the horrific counter coup and the government implemented pogrom policy against the Igbo
people have generated doubts in Igbo people s mind on their stand whether one united and peaceful
Nigeria can actually exist or not. Also, this statement again emphasizes the fact that how the mass
violence and murders of Igbo people escalated the tensions between the Igbos and other Nigerians
groups and tribes, which eventually led to emergence in the Biafra s liberation movement among the
Igbo people. Moreover, Achebe writes, ethnic riots happens everywhere in the world. But in this
particular case a detailed plan for mass killing was implemented by the government the army, the
police the very people who were there to protect life and property. [vi] This statement of Achebe
further indicates how when the Igbo people began to see that their own government is planning on

that at that point the Igbo

Immigration And Immigration Reform
Imagine that you are a senior in high school. You are nervous and excited to start the process of
getting a job and attending college. You obtain a couple of job applications and a Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to fill out. Naturally, as you fill out these forms you ask your parents for
your social security number, however, this is the moment you find out that you are undocumented.
Shocked and in disbelief, you can t help to see all your hopes and dreams go down the drain.
Nevertheless, like many other undocumented students, you discover there is still hope for your
situation. For instance, your research leads you to former President Barack Obama s Deferred Action
for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects minors who were brought to this country
illegally as children. Created through executive action in June of 2012, DACA gives young
undocumented immigrants: protection from deportation and a work permit. Subsequently, on
September 5th, 2017, the Trump administration rescinds the DACA policy, and approximately
800,000 young immigrants will become eligible for deportation at the end of six months. Therefore,
the only way to update our immigration system is for Congress to pass immigration reform, which
offers a pathway to citizenship, plus, acknowledge that the 14th Amendment applies to homosexual
conduct and illegal aliens.
Comprehensive immigration reform would have significant economic benefits for DACA recipients

The Scope Of Federal Safety Net
1. Arguments for TBTF
I. The Scope of Federal Safety Net
According to Randall too big to fail, (TBTF) policy is legal reorganization of the fragile bank so that
uninsured creditors and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation could be saved from suffering a loss.
In addition, Randall argues it is necessary to extend the TBTF policy to all depositors and creditors of
larger banks to avoid the situation of a failure of such banks will lead to failure of other banks.
Randall argues that the federal safety net should be limited only to banking institutions and should not
enlarge to non banking institutions. For the reason that in case of failure of such large non banks and
banks, government will have to use taxpayer funds to absorb such ... Show more content on

Randall submits that building firewalls and Chinese walls will abolish the synergies between financial
and non financial institutions. In addition, Randall also points out that government should restrict the
areas where synergies is not required to cancel out by building Chinese walls and where the risk is
acceptable rather than stop supporting creditors of fragile banks. Randall suggests that there should be
barrier for non banks to enter into banking sector in order to avoid the enlargement of safety net
(Randall, 63 74).
II. Restrict Banks to increase scope
Morrison suggests that government should try to make regulations that can make TBTF policy
effective rather than, try to end the policy, which is impossible. Morrison discusses the role of the
policy in designing suitable capital regulations, in the restriction of bank scope and in institutional
design. The author argues that financial institutions receive help from taxpayers and government
because regulatory authorities believe that its failure would have severe effects on the country s
economy.
Besides, Morrison submits that implication of TBTF policy has many adverse effects. First, TBTF
policy reduce risk sensitivity of bank financing as banks are aware that they will not bear the cost of
their failure, and government will help them financially. Therefore, banks will take high risks. Second,
the awareness of banks that TBTF status will yield

John Wayne As An Example Of A Revisionist Western Film
The Western genre been highly prevalent in Hollywood films for decades. Beginning with The Great
Train Robbery in 1903, Western films have gained international many parts of Europe and Mexico in
addition to the United States. One classic example of a Western feature (full length) film is True Grit
(1969), which stars John Wayne as the strong, memorable protagonist, Rooster Cogburn. Although the
film follows many filmic conventions regarding the formula of the Western genre, it also defies certain
conventions, thus serving as an example of a revisionist Western. These qualities also carry over into
the recent remake, True Grit (2010), which contains the same plot as the original while making use of
modern cinematic techniques in order to make the film more exciting, dramatic and accessible for a
modern audience. Prior to the release of True Grit (1969), John Wayne had played starring roles in
countless other Western films, including Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956). By the 1960s,
John Wayne gained vast recognition among many audiences as the definitive celluloid icon of the
American Western. John Wayne?s popularity within Hollywood grew largely during the 1950s, during
the rise of revisionist western films. In addition, the film?s setting is consistent with previous films in
the genre. A small portion of the plot is set in a small town in Arkansas, while the bulk is set in the
sporadically populated, mountainous Indian Territory. There are several scenes in which

Similarities Between Wakeboarding And Snowboarding
Whether gliding through once calm water, or shredding down powdery slopes, being on either one of
these boards is a rush of extreme adrenaline. Wakeboarding and snowboarding both result in many
similarities including aspect and motion. But each of these sports has entirely different aspects as well;
including, surface terrains, locations, weather, and even clothing. No matter the differences and or
similarities of both snowboarding and wakeboarding, they each share a rider with the longing and
passion to strive at being the best they can be performing these sports.
The most significant difference between wakeboarding and snowboarding is the surface terrain. This
factor helps determine which types of tricks preformed and equipment is needed for the two sports.
Snowboarding, of course, takes place on snowy hill tops, giving the rider the ability to glide down the
icy terrain. Snowboarding is the best on packed snow, which means that it must remain cold enough
for snow to stay on the ground for long periods of time. The most preferred riding time is when there

Snowboards look more like skateboards with a narrow longer shape. They are thin with a smooth

bindings that are already attached onto the board, and the rider is already wearing the separate boots.

Cleaning the colon not only eradicates the fecal matter in the body particularly in the intestinal tract,

The Differences Of Mythology
Mythology
Mythology is word derived from Greek mythos (means story of people) and logos means (the spoken
story of people). It is the study of sacred tales of culture which we called Myths . Myths are supposed
to be real stories and they are usually observed as truthful explanations of history. Myths passed from
one generation to other and can be grown to take several versions and diverse stories. The ultimate
characters in mythology are mostly considered supernatural beings like gods and goddesses. Over
these unseen characters there is a visible effort to describe the evolution and the mysteries of the
cosmos. Some might accept an indifferent attitude towards myths and reject them any truth value,
while others might be generous and consensus some cognitive value to them.

Critical Analysis of a Passage from Horace Walpole s...
Horace Walpole s The Castle of Otranto, is acknowledged by many as the first gothic novel. It was the
first of it s kind and many of the conventions used by Walpole, which put it in a literary genre of it s
own, were continued by authors such as Ann Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis. Many of these defining
characteristics can be seen within the very first few pages of the text and for the purposes of this essay,
to identify some of these conventions used and the relevance of this text to modernity I shall focus this
analysis on the passage between pages twenty four and twenty six from the Oxford World s Classics
edition.
The gothic novel emerged during the late eighteenth century and the Age of Enlightenment , which
emphasised rationality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Otranto, Walpole challenges his societies views of modernity and transgresses social laws by
introducing the theme of incest into his novel with Manfred preying of his deceased son s betrothed,
Isabella. This brings into play three defining features which became prevalent within gothic novels of
the late eighteenth century: women in distress; women being threatened by powerful males; and the
major theme of fear and in this example, specifically female fear. Isabella, a young, virginal woman
becomes half dead with fright when faced with potential rape and becoming a spoiled woman at the
hands of the powerful and threatening Manfred. Such suggestions, by Walpole s age were seen as
scandalous and caused moral outrage, a thread that was carried through the gothic genre. This new
genre may have provided for many, an escape from the rigid world of enlightenment. It brought to
them a world of imagination and allowed them to immerse themselves in a world which had been
morally forbidden and they could do it from the privacy of their own homes, allowing their
indulgence, and perhaps, immoral thoughts to go unnoticed, providing a way for the darkness and
immoral thoughts to come alive outside of the novel. At the end of the novel however, society s moral
ideals surface as Manfred retires to a convent after the realisation of his sins and order is restored. In
this way, although Walpole is exposing his readers to these ideas, he would

Who Is Paul Rusesabagina A Corrupt Hero
Avondale Kendja A Corrupt Hero: Mimicry and Unreality in the Film Hotel Rwanda In Terry George s
film Hotel Rwanda the protagonist, Paul Rusesabagina, is an ideal of the two different concepts of
mimicry Fanon and Bhabha both elaborate on. Fanon would assert the protagonist is a representation
of how the native bourgeoisie s self centeredness prevents them from leading the nation into a real
prosperity, Spivak would criticize this and Bhabha especially argues that mimicry is an effective
colonial tool to affirm the colonizer s ideology into its colonized subjects by appropriat[ing] the Other

He and his family clearly fit into the more privileged bourgeoisie that Fanon describes, as he works in
the hotel industry, lives in the capital, and expresses a disdain for the Hutu radio speaker and marchers
who terrify his Tutsi driver and relatives. Accruing enough money to support his family, yet also to
display his own prowess in playing the game of exploitation is more important. In fact, Rusesabagina
would show how, as Fanon writes, identifies itself with the Western bourgeoisie, from whom it has
learnt its lessons (Fanon 1580). Despite this observation, Fanon also claims an implicit essentialism;
the bourgeoisie must deny itself from taking advantage of those that work for them and repudiate its
own nature in so far as it is bourgeoisie (Fanon 1579). However, Spivak observes that the Marxism
that Fanon studied under has impl[ied] that positivism is not a theory , which would be problematic as
Fanon s ideas could be solidified into immutable facts against inquiry (Spivak 2203). Mimicry for
Fanon entails a native turning their backs against their culture in the face of the colonizer urging its
subjects to think of their customs as inherently inferior to their own. The native would then take on
several of the colonizer s behaviors in order to gain a semblance of power,

I was born on December, 27, 2003 in Dubuque, Iowa. When I was born, I had no brothers or sisters. I

was younger was sports, because my uncles always played sports and for their baseball teams I was

The Government Was Broken Following The Watergate Scandal
Trust in the government was broken following the Watergate Scandal, the American people doubted
the people running the country. Someone had to step forward and take the leadership position where
he would face a people who lacked trust in the government. Whoever took up this position was going
to face unusual circumstances and difficult obstacles from the first day of his presidency, and that man
was Gerald Ford. Ford was the only president to not be elected into office. After serving in Congress
for 25 years, he was looked up to for his flexibility, and had a reputation for being open and honest.
When Nixon s vice president resigned, Ford became Vice President since he was someone that both
democrats and republicans would accept. Having said that, Ford had been successful as a house
minority leader, but as a president he proved to be only average (Gerald). Ford rates as average due to
his decision in the Nixon pardon, his actions during a poor economy, how he handled domestic issues,
and his foreign policies. He may have had good ideas, but he had trouble implementing them. About a
month following his inauguration into office, Ford pardoned his predecessor, Richard Nixon,
following the Watergate scandal. This sparked anger among Americans who were doubting not only
the government, but the constitution. People believed that when Ford pardoned Nixon, it was proof
that our system was broken. Rumors spread discussing the possibility that a deal was made between

Me Knife Diamond And Flower Analysis
A piece of art I really liked at the El Paso Art Museum was Me, Knife, Diamond and Flower created
by James Surles in 1999. This piece is three dimensional and made out of pine, poplar and fabricated
stainless steel. The first thing I noticed was the big knife so immediately I was drawn to go see what it
was all about. I found it be very expressive because it definitely made me feel a little creeped out that
there was a knife, leaving me to wonder if this was about a murder, or trying to tell a story of some
kind. The woodcut flower and knife I think was a great touch to the piece so it differentiates them
from the diamond and the face. The composition of this art piece shows depth with the face and
diamond up front, to the knife behind it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was another three dimensional piece of work that caught my eye, but not for its beauty. This
piece stood out because it was hideous and dull. The first thought that came into my mind was what
the hell is that? I am not too sure if this it was supposed to be a witch s hat or a limbless and leafless
tree but is ugly. This piece had a lot of texture ranging from very smooth looking to extremely bumpy
which I did not feel was appealing whatsoever. It looked like someone just starting hitting it from to
create dimples. There was no real pattern, repetition or rhythm to the texture. The higher you looked
up on the piece, the more texture that appeared in the surface. The bottom of the sculpture had a lot
more smoother and finer texture to it. I saw this piece just shortly after I saw Me, Knife, Diamond and
Flower which really had my mind stimulated in a positive manner and then I stumbled across this
piece which changed my mood almost instantly. I was sad to see such an emotionless piece right after
seeing James Surles and I felt like I wasted time in my life just staring at it. I decided to Google what
Rolo meant and in Latin America it means stick. In no shape or form do I see a stick in the artwork. I
would assume that it is not supposed to portray a stick and am left to wonder what it could. Is it
supposed to represent something? Is it symbolic? I can honestly not tell you for sure as there is little

The Role Of Physical Disabilities In Vulnerable Populations
Vulnerable populations such as individuals with physical disabilities require more specific nursing
care, whether it is in a hospital setting or out in the community. According to the Physical Disability
Council of North West Sydney (2009), physical disability pertains to total or partial loss of a person s
bodily functions (ex. walking, gross motor skills, bladder control etc.) and total or partial loss of a part
of the body (ex. an amputation) . John Hopkins University states, physical disabilities result from
congenital conditions, accidents or progressive neuromuscular diseases ( Physical Disabilities ).
Physical disabilities have varying degrees of severity; the same disability can affect individuals in
different ways. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015), in the
United States there are 35.2 million or 15% of adults with a physical functioning difficulty . Having a
physical disability is not a lifelong debilitating sentence for all; many people with physical disabilities
have jobs, families and lead a fulfilling life ( What is Physical Disability? ).
Physical disabilities can be broken down into two categories, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular
disabilities. According to the Handicaps Welfare Association (2012), musculoskeletal disability is
defined as, the inability to carry out distinctive activities associated with movements of the body parts
due to muscular or bony deformities, diseases, or degeneration and includes:

Your Toolbox Of Social Work Skills
Your toolbox of social work skills
What are skills? Others can define skills in several of ways. How I define skills is being able to do
things but being very good at it, also to be able to pick up fast on a project that is given to you, or to be
proficiency at something that interest a person or a job. Skills mean the ability, coming from one s
knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well. My toolbox of social work skills which I use
in my field would consist of the PACT Assessment, RAI Juvenile Risk Assessment, Data collected by
DYRS, communicate with the clients and also provide counseling and services as needed. With the

Evaluate your practicum mission statement
I am place at the DYRS Family Court Liaison Unit. The department mission statement is to effectively
represent DSCYF in court proceeding by providing a department perspective resulting in
recommendations that are presented in one voice and support positive outcomes for all participants.
The mission statement is exactly what is presented in the court. I rate the mission statement as is a five
to be an excellent statement. Everything I do in my field is basically everything that the mission
statement states. I like how the liaisons advocate for the youth and support the family. One thing that I
dislike is sometimes the parents come in with attitudes and the liaison have to compromise with who
they are, and I can understand how hard that can be, but it has been done.
The Liaison unit represents the Department in juvenile bail proceedings and provides intake services
for youth who have been ordered to community supervision by DYRS. This statement is what I have
been doing since the first day I started. The client has to fill out the form, and when it comes down to
processing the intakes it is hard to read some of the hand writing which can be frustrated at times. I
like doing intakes, adding the clients into the system. Good thing about intakes, it barely be more than
5 intakes a day. My field placement is a good experience; I like to hear most of the stories about the
clients, because I am amaze by what the children do to put

Andrew Carnegie Rhetoric
Andrew Carnegie rose from a bobbin boy in a textile factory to become one of the richest men in
America. In the late 19th century, Andrew Carnegie was known as one of the wealthiest Scottish
American industrialist who basically ran the American steel industry in the late 19th century. Some
people believe that Andrew Carnegie was a philanthropist automatically means he s a Captain of
Industry. However Andrew Carnegie was a robber baron, and was wealthy for that exact reason.
In such manner, Andrew Carnegie treated his workers as such a robber baron would, which is poorly
and in dangerous conditions. Furthermore, Andrew Carnegie was unsympathetic for his workers
health seeing as he had put them in unhealthy and dangerous conditions. ... Show more content on

However, this is inaccurate because he had treated his workers like they were nothing, even putting
them into the situation of dangerous conditions. There are many more characteristics to a Captain of
Industry but robbing companies, and putting your workers in dangerous conditions is not one of them.
Yes, the men call this the deathtrap he repeated my guide; ... they wipe a man out here every little
while.... Sometimes a chain breaks, and a ladle tip over; and the iron explodes like that.... Sometimes
the slag falls on the workmen from the roadway up there (Page 357). He fools other people with his
donations making it seem like he is captain of industry when in reality he also put people in dangerous
conditions and pay them not enough for it. He doesn t help his workers enough with the wages and
dangerous conditions. His workers not being the only evidence of him not being a captain of industry.
A man watches out, why, all right! But you take it after they ve been on duty for twelve hours without
sleep, and running like hell, everybody tired and logy and it s a different story (Page 357). Andrew
Carnegie was someone who put his workers in the kind of danger that any day one of the workers can
get trampled or killed by one of the machines especially since they are tired from working long hours.
Andrew Carnegie had no kind heart, nor cared for his workers instead he was inconsiderate and
selfish, he was only for himself and money, which do not display a Captain of Industry nor a

Explain The Three Categories Of Hormones
The three categories of hormones are amino acid derivatives, peptide hormones, and lipid derivatives.
The amino acid derivatives come from the amino acids tyrosine and tryptophan. Peptide hormones are
broken down into two groups. One of them has glycoproteins, while the second has short polypeptides
and small proteins. Lipid derivatives are also made up of two groups that are referred to as eicosanoids
and steroid hormones. The hormones are typically released into the blood stream and leave the blood
stream by either diffusing out to bind with receptors, broken down by the kidneys or liver, or broken
down by enzymes that can be found in the blood or interstitial fluids. These tropic hormones are the
hormones that

Essay On Durban Botanic Gardens
INTRODUCTION The Durban Botanic Gardens plays a very vital and significant role in our city,
empowering social economics and horticulture in our great city. Sadly, with the growth of technology
the youth appear to have neglected the respect we once had in the past. This writing will aim to inform
the youth of the interesting experience that I had at the gardens with the hopes of convincing them to
participate and further understand the environment we live in. Thus making it it easier to find remedy
solutions for the sinking ship earth slowly sinking into land degradation and global warming.
HISTORY The Durban Botanic Gardens is one of the oldest surviving botanic garden in Africa and is
Durban s oldest public institutions. The garden was established in 1849 back when the city was not
well developed. The original location of the DGB was the south bank of the Umgeni River and was
later moved to the lower slopes of Berea forest because of the river s hippo and crocodile populations
(eThekwini Municipality 2014:4). For over 150 years the gardens have dedicated itself to education of

Meagan Intake Questions
As we did the intake questions, Meagan and I discovered that C.M. s mother recently passed away.
When I say recently, I mean like a couple of months ago. I kept thinking about C.M. and what she
could possibly be thinking and feeling. I thought about how young she is to be making decisions about
wanting to be a girl even though she has a boy body. I thought a lot about what I even think about the
whole situation and what I thought Jesus would do in this situation. Looking back now, something
Bob Goff says a lot comes to mind which is, Bring them close. He spoke in chapel the other week and
talked about bringing people close when you do not agree with them or when they are struggling or
having a hard time. He urged all of us to, Love everyone always. This is what Jesus has called me too.
I did my best that night to love C.M. and care for her as best I could. I had so many feelings
throughout the whole situation. I felt frustrated with Meagan because of the comments she was
making. Sometimes I feel like she just forgets that she is talking about real human beings. She would
not say half of the stuff she does if the patients were standing right in front of her listening to her talk
about them; I truly feel like she would be mortified. When she made a couple of the comments and
jokes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it most definitely is Jesus getting down and washing the disciples feet, being willing to serve
others even when the tasks aren t the most glamorous, and situations or actions such as these,
sometimes humility looks like being open to see things from another perspective. This involves
admitting that you might not know everything or that your way might not be the best way, which
requires a lot of humility. I never really thought of humility in this light much before. However, this
will now be tied to my definition of humility when I think about it from now

Moral Dilemma In Les Miserables
A single quiet splash heard by no one signaled the end of Javert, a man of the law in Victor Hugo s
novel Les Miserables. He chases after Jean Valjean for years without rest or relenting, simply because
Valjean broke parole. Given an opportunity to capture him, Javert would show no hesitation or mercy
to the man who stole a loaf of bread. His resolve in this goal is shattered when Valjean, given the
chance to the man pursuing him, instead saves Javert s life. The conflicting examples of a galley slave
and a holy man confound Javert s biases. Valjean s actions caused him to struggle internally, and
eventually led him to give up on the world that he no longer understands and commits suicide. Rather
than fight through the sudden change in his life, Javert succumbed to the struggle. Javert should have
endured his moral dilemma rather than end his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The novel voices his thoughts by stating, Where was he? He sought himself and found himself no
longer, (Hugo 282). Beliefs building a worldview were shattered by one man, with no obvious repair.
At least, that s what Javert believes. Unquestioned morals controlled Javert leaving him unprepared
for when someone unexpected Valjean appeared. Without having experienced some opposing views,
Javert was unprepared for any challenge. Reevaluating his beliefs or examining them from other
angles to make sure he was satisfied with them would have strengthened his resolve and will to live.
Javert had a shallow foundation for his beliefs, and so the first storm that came blew him over.
Someone with a deep foundation, constructed from a variety of materials along with time and effort to
create is able to withstand the storms life brings more effectively and for a longer period of time. A
mentor or friend is exactly what Javert needed in this instance. Facing the struggle seems impossible

As a result he was not obliged to take the post in order to mitigate the losses.
SCRUTINY OF CAUSATION AND REMOTENESS OF DAMAGES
To avoid undue hardship to the defaulting party a line must be drawn separating damages resulting
from his breach for which he should be liable and damages which, although in the broad sense of the
word are as a result of his breach, are so remote to extent that he should not be liable for them. This
line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic) damages.
The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. Direct damages are also known
as general or intrinsic damages. They flow naturally and generally from the kind of breach of contract
in question.
Indirect damages are special or extrinsic damages, which are only recovered in special circumstances
attending the conclusion of the contract.
In Zimbabwe there is only one possible test that could be applied to decide whether special or
extrinsic damages can be recovered for breach of contract. This test is the contemplation principle.
The test applied under this principle is to check whether the contracting parties actually or
presumptively foresaw that the breach of contract in question would result in the type of loss being
sued for. Case in point is that of Collective Self Finance Scheme (CFC) v Asharia (A) year 200 in
which CFC contracted to buy a property from the respondent and paid a deposit. CFC later repudiated

  • 2. Analysis Of Samuel Satti s The Joy Of Exercising In... Moderation is a trait that could mean to be self controlled, or to do certain activities gradually over time. Some activities that would require self control could be something as simple as, exercising and eating. If a person exercises excessively then they are showing an unhealthy addiction that can be harmful, just as over eating can result in being overweight which is also destructive to the body. Now conducting oneself moderately can bring a person joy because they will not feel obligated to follow a strict routine. Samuel Sattin s The Joy of Exercising in Moderation , discusses the importance of moderation being incorporated into one s life, by using anecdote, first person, and a critical tone. As the author continuously integrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sattin states, But there are also people who cannot seem to see the positive effects of physicality on a daily basis. My outlook in particular began to change when my wife after months of subtle cajoling got me to attend a yoga like stretch class. Here the author basically realizes and relates to people that might struggle with a slow yet consistent exercise routine. Also, Sattin further articulates that he has found that his opinion of exercising is changing from not working out because of bad influences, to a daily easy workout that he can gradually make a habit. He explains revealing his awakening, Exercise was not about competition. It was about what makes you feel better. After the class I took with her, as opposed to feeling repulsed, I realized that my body had been asking me to treat it better for a long, long time. When the author shares his feelings to his change in attitude to moderately exercising, he explains that he found a sense of delight knowing he was doing something to help him, but not overdoing it which could be harmful. The use of Sattin s first person provides a close connection between the reader and him which helps explain how applying moderation is changing his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Theme Of A Utopian Society Part One One of the major themes Mitchell plays with in his novel is the concept of a utopian society, and what it is comprised of. In each story, there is a setup for a perfect society, but humanity, or humanity s spirit got in the way. Each story represents how the interpretation of things can shape a society, depending on how literal they take the events. In the story Sloosha s Crossin an Everythin After , the tales are in place to develop the role of each character. Zachry fights his inner demons, just as Truman Napes does with Old Georgie. Zachry chooses to protect and befriend Meronym, even though it goes against his initial judgement. Meronym fights for the overall good of the people just as the crow does in Prescient yarnie . She goes out and lives with the villagers to gather information, and saves Zachry s sister. She is making diplomatic decisions to take on the risk of changing the course of things by helping her. The function of Zachry and Meronym are to be foils of each other, even the story is told from the biased perspective of Zachry. Meronym is focused on long term goals, and the redevelopment of society, while Zachry is very much focused on the present time, and the folklore that affects his day to day life. On a small scale, their stories are not important, which is how Mitchell intended it to be. In the novel as whole, their place is more significant. Each tale foreshadows what could become prevalent in the future. Zachry s story is the last in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Edwin Black, eugenics is the effort to create a white, blue eyed, blond haired, Nordic master race in the United States, and wipe away the existence of everyone who did not fit that ideal . Black goes further by explaining the implementation of this ideal, saying Now who did they want to wipe away? They wanted to wipe away Mexicans, Italians. They wanted to wipe away the Asians the Jews, those who they believed were feeble minded, the Deaf, the poor. The Oxford University Press defines eugenics as the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics with a further and rather illuminating explanation which states, Developed largely by Francis Galton as a method of improving the human race, it fell into disfavor only after the perversion of its doctrines by the Nazis . 2. What did you learn exactly from Edwin Black that you may have not learned in American History? If I had been asked when eugenics began in practice, I would likely have pointed at Nazi era Europe prior to seeing Edwin Black s presentation. However, at the conclusion of his speech I found myself shaken by the fact that eugenics was in practice in California before and during Nazi power. Be sure to thoroughly discuss contrasting perspectives and the underlying reasons explaining the different positions people take on this topic. The main arguments surrounding Prop 227, is whether or not bilingual programs should be in schools in California. Some argue that having bilingual programs doesn t help the student to learn English, it just reinforces their native language. Also it has be said that test scores supposedly did not improve in the bilingual programs. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with both bilingual education and English as a second language instruction in the United States lies in our unwillingness to treat English for non speakers as an academic subject (Haas, 2007). While the bilingual programs in California are thought to be mostly for people who speak Spanish, there are also Asian students that need to be taught proper English before continuing their education. As one anonymous teacher points out: I have had 32 different languages spoken in my classroom over a 25 year period. Eighty four languages are spoken in our district. (Anon 1998 Haas 2007). Which for most teachers mean that it is both educationally and economically impossible to teach every student in their own native language. In contrast, the people against Prop 227, state that the Prop creates too much chaos and does not support every learner. Adaptations and modifications are not allowed for non native English speakers (i.e. all public school instruction will be conducted in English) (Linton, 2007). The change from bilingual education to English Immersion was of great confusion for both students and parents, due to the sudden change in consistency between districts, school, and teachers. Prop 227 threatened teachers and administration with legal penalties if they tried to teach or a help a student in a foreign language. Some that are opposed to Prop 227, ... When individuals are asked why they donate blood, their response is simple, it is heartwarming as well as a rewarding feeling. Although we have blood banks like Bonfils; which is one of many locations Colorado has for a bigger supply of blood to help us out in case of an emergency. We simply would not have enough blood for the affected victims because we are short on blood donations; supply and demand for donation are too high; diagnoses and transportation of blood would take too long. As we begin, although we are thousands of pints short on blood, we would not be able to help large number of victims in a big emergency, through more blood donations. It was the first of it s kind and many of the conventions used by Walpole, which put it in a literary genre of it s own, were continued by authors such as Ann Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis. Many of these defining characteristics can be seen within the very first few pages of the text and for the purposes of this essay, to identify some of these conventions used and the relevance of this text to modernity I shall focus this analysis on the passage between pages twenty four and twenty six from the Oxford World s Classics edition. The gothic novel emerged during the late eighteenth century and the Age of Enlightenment , which emphasised rationality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Otranto, Walpole challenges his societies views of modernity and transgresses social laws by introducing the theme of incest into his novel with Manfred preying of his deceased son s betrothed, Isabella. This brings into play three defining features which became prevalent within gothic novels of the late eighteenth century: women in distress; women being threatened by powerful males; and the major theme of fear and in this example, specifically female fear. Isabella, a young, virginal woman becomes half dead with fright when faced with potential rape and becoming a spoiled woman at the hands of the powerful and threatening Manfred. Such suggestions, by Walpole s age were seen as scandalous and caused moral outrage, a thread that was carried through the gothic genre. This new genre may have provided for many, an escape from the rigid world of enlightenment. It brought to them a world of imagination and allowed them to immerse themselves in a world which had been morally forbidden and they could do it from the privacy of their own homes, allowing their indulgence, and perhaps, immoral thoughts to go unnoticed, providing a way for the darkness and immoral thoughts to come alive outside of the novel. At the end of the novel however, society s moral ideals surface as Manfred retires to a convent after the realisation of his sins and order is restored. In this way, although Walpole is exposing his readers to these ideas, he would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, Rusesabagina would show how, as Fanon writes, identifies itself with the Western bourgeoisie, from whom it has learnt its lessons (Fanon 1580). Despite this observation, Fanon also claims an implicit essentialism; the bourgeoisie must deny itself from taking advantage of those that work for them and repudiate its own nature in so far as it is bourgeoisie (Fanon 1579). However, Spivak observes that the Marxism that Fanon studied under has impl[ied] that positivism is not a theory , which would be problematic as Fanon s ideas could be solidified into immutable facts against inquiry (Spivak 2203).
