The Use of Symbolism in Robert Frost s Wind and Window...
The Use of Symbolism in Robert Frost s Wind and Window Flower I interpreted this poem as a
very sad one. A love unrequited by the pursued. In the first two lines the poem tells you to forget
about the love you share and hear a tale of this. Not to literally forget, but possibly put aside. The
man is a winter breeze, cold and rough and sort of roams the land. The woman is a window
flower, shut off from the outside. This sets up the separation. They can see each other and are
kept apart by a glass wall. She has all the comforts of the outside, the warmth of the sun and even
the company of a caged yellow bird (7) hanging above her. It is almost that the mention of this bird
being caged above her is a symbol of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man notices her, he couldn t help but notice her. Who knows how many windows he has
breezed by with flowers in them and kept on moving. For some reason, probably due to the
beauty of this particular flower, he had to return to see her. The man knew nothing of love. He
was concerned with ice and snow, dead weeds and unmated birds, and little of love could know
(14 16). This gives an example of what the breeze was experienced to in his life. We then see the
wind s attempt to win her, But he sighed upon the sill, He gave the sash a shake (17 18). This
was not a direct approach. The sash may have been the testing of the water to see where he stood
by questioning her peers. This was done in full view of her though. He was not very subtle
about it either. The people close to the woman knew very well what was occurring, As witness
all within, Who lay that night awake (19 20). These were people in the house that were
following this courting, laying awake that night was watching and listening. With the next two
lines, Perchance he half prevailed, To win her for the flight (21 22), we see that he almost
persuaded her. She had to choose between him and the firelit looking glass and warm stove
window light (23 24). She was comfortable with what she had. She had warmth and caring where
she was and these were things she felt he was unable to offer her. In the last part of the poem we
see what her

Manet Essay
Manet
Much of the art of Manet reflects the developments going on in Paris in the 1860s and 1870s.
The rebuilding of Paris was being supervised by Baron Haussman, as much of the old medieval
centre of the city was being destroyed so that the new city could be rebuilt. In his book The
painting of modern life TJ Clark argues that modern art of the 20th century evolves from the art
produced by Manet during this period of great change in Paris. Manet s scenes of Parisian cafes,
bars and streets reflected the new Paris. Manet s work influenced the impressionist painters, who
were a strong influences on the painting of the 20th century, so in this sense Manet s painting is the
first modern art that emerged from the creation of the new Paris ... Show more content on

It was one of the largest efforts to rebuild the centre of a city since ancient times. While there was
the glamour of the many entertainments in the city, there was also a darker side of poverty,
crime and prostitution. The city with its pristine exterior, its soiled underside, its hollow
entertainments provided the makings of an enormous duality: a two sided mirror...a spectacle
and secret life. (Bromber 1996: 62) One of the key parts to this design by Haussmann were the
wide tree lined avenues, which replaced the smaller streets that had previously existed in the
city. Haussmann s grand design for the reconstruction of Paris was being carried forward by the
Third Republic, and the city was now laced with wide, tree lined avenues. (Schneider 1972: 134)
In fact, the modern city of Paris is based on the city that was built by Haussmann and the modern
perception of Paris as being the artistic and cultural centre that it is known for, is chiefly based on
Haussman s design and re modelling of the city.
The art of Edouard Manet depicted modern life in the new Paris, as advocated by the writer
Baudelaire. Charles Pierre Baudelaire was a writer in nineteenth century Paris, a contemporary of
Manet, who knew Manet personally, and who wrote about the idea of modern life. Baudelaire
encouraged the artists of the day to paint modern scenes, such as looking at the world around them
for inspiration, rather than turning to scenes from the

First Amendment And Music Censorship Essay
The First Amendment to the Bill of Rights exists because the Founders of our country understood
the importance of free expression. The First Amendment states Congress shall make no law . . .
abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press . . . (Commission on the Bicentennial of the United
States Constitution 17). One of the ways the American people use this freedom of speechand
expression is through the creation of the art form known as music. Music s verbal expression bonds
our society through our emotions and experiences. This fundamental right of freedom of expression
is being threatened by public and governmental groups who believe they have authority to monitor
and decide what others should experience. The censorship of music... Show more content on

In 1964, The Rolling Stones catapulted to fame amid outrage and controversy about the
surliness of their demeanor and the length of their hair. The Stones were considered dangerous
and riots and scenes of hysteria erupted wherever they played. Today, they re in the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame, winners of the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and on the
cover of TIME magazine (RIAA; History 2 of 4). There s nothing new about pop and rock music
finding its roots in the anger and rebellion of young people, and there s nothing new in older
people expressing unrealistic fears about that music (RIAA; History 3 of 4). History has shown us
that what may be initially perceived as objectionable is actually only the reaction of a new or
different experience.
Musicians are protected under the First Amendment equally as any citizen in the United States of
America. They deserve the same basic human rights we all practice, however the freedom of
expression has special relevance for musicians (Hald 1 of 8). This offers a special protection of
musicians against arbitrary censorship and persecution (Hald 1 of 8). Not only does censorship of
music threaten the freedom of speech, but it also threatens a musician s right to promote their
work through free enterprise. Musicians have the freedom to play music in public or private
domains, give concerts, and release CDs (Hald 1 2 of 8). Some concert

L Aquila Research Paper
Hello again,
Last time I described to you the city I currently live in, L Aquila, Italy, a province in the Abruzzo
region, by telling you about its history, my family, and my university. This time I would like to
share with you the geography, climate, and details of my family s home. Geographically L
Aquila sits upon a hillside in the middle of a narrow valley called the Valley of the Aterno
Pescara. It is positioned in a way that makes it close to highest Apennine summits, with an
elevation of 2,365 feet. Because of the city being flanked by four mountain summits the warm, dry
winds of the Mediterranean get blocked and cause L Aquila to be very cool in comparison to
central Italy. Like California, L Aquila is also known for having many earthquakes. Throughout its
history L Aquila experienced eleven earthquakes, with each... Show more content on

Because of this, the city enjoys each year with 11 cold months and one cool one. This for me is
perfect because I love wearing jackets and not being sweaty all the time, in comparison to other
places, which are close to 80 degrees even in wintertime. From January to March, the
temperature ranges from high 40 s to mid 50 s, with an average low being around the high 20 s
and mid 30 s. From April to June, the temperature ranges from high 60 s to mid 70 s, with an
average low being around high 40 s and mid 50 s. From July to September, the temperature
ranges from mid 70 s to high 80 s, with average low being around the 50 s. From October to
December, the temperature ranges from mid 60 s to mid 40 s, with an average low being around
mid 40 s to low 30 s. Throughout the months, L Aquila gets around one to three inches of rain, with
the winter months having a lot more abundance and the summer months having less. In terms of
snow, L Aquila gets anywhere from 2 10 inches of snow from December to March, with January

Compare The Difference Between A Day s Wait And Stolen Day
A Day s Wait and Stolen Day Pessimistic means to always see the worst in things or to always
believe the worst will happen. The author of A Day s Wait is Ernest Hemingway. The main
character in this story is a boy named Schatz and the story is told from Schatz s father s point of
view. In the story Schatz has the flu and he thinks he is going to die because he misunderstood the
temperaturemeasurements of Celsiusand Fahrenheit. The author of the story Stolen Day is
Sherwood Anderson. The main character is a boy who believes he has inflammatory rheumatism.
He tells himself he has this disease because he wants to go fishing instead of going to school. Both
of these stories have many similarities and differences. The stories A Day s... Show more content on

One of these differences is, in the beginning of the story, Schatz does not want his father to come
into his room because he does not want his father to become ill as well. Schatz s father insisted
that he reads to Schatz. Schatz s father stayed with Schatz and read to him for a while. In the
story A Day s Wait it says, I read aloud from Howard Pyle s Book of Pirates; but I could see he
was not following what I was reading, (Hemingway 300 301). This quote shows that Schatz s
father read to Schatz even though Schatz was not following along. On the contrary, the boy from
Stolen Day wants more attention from his mother. In the story Stolen day it says, She was pretty
busy that day and hadn t paid much attention to me. She had made me get into bed upstairs and
then hadn t even come up to see how I was, (Anderson 307). This quote shows the boy wanted
more attention from his mother, because he said his mother had not paid attention to him.
Another difference between the two stories is Schatz was truly sick while the boy was not. The
doctor came to Schatz s house and gave him medicine so he would get better. However, the boy
from Stolen Day only thinks he had inflammatory rheumatism because he wants an excuse as to
why he can go fishing instead of going to school, (Anderson 307 308). There are many differences
between the two stories, A Day s Wait and Stolen

Effective Communication Skills Are Essential For Success
Introduction Effective Communication skills are essential for success in every organization.
Individuals today in the workplace need to effectively communicate with employees, customers and
potential clients. Effective and clear communication if not delivered in the right manner could be
interpreted by the receiver and have a negative impact. There are many barriers that can effect a
conversation such as cultural differences, gender and environment. Employees can learn how to
adapt in different situations to improve their skills and potentially avoid conflict. How can manager
and employees communicate effectively to remove cultural barriers and avoid misinterpretation of
interpersonal communication? This paper will focus on the preventative measures managers can take
when working with employees to bridge communication gaps that will prevent and solve problems.
Organizational Leaders within companies, front line managers and front line employees will learn
from this research.
Discussion
Communication happens when information is sent between two or more people primarily as a
verbal process however; the communication process can also be in writing and non verbal by
using body language. Companies today must ensure leadership managers have good
communication skills to be effective. Managers must be able to communicate effectively to team
members especially to gain feedback about ideas, issues or problem solving. Managers also will at
times have to have difficult

Female Italian Artists of the Baroque Period
Female Italian Artists of the Baroque Period Many male artists during the Baroque Period were
tremendously successful having received many commissions from a multitude of rich patrons.
Their equally talented female counterparts were not as accepted in the male dominated society.
Although equally talented, the patriarchal mentality of the times ensured a difficult road for some
in the artistic world. The more prominent female artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Lavinia
Fontana and Orsola Maddalena Caccia had the advantage of having fathers who were prodigious
artists themselves and provided the training required for them to flourish as great virtuosos in their
own right. I will show and explain some of their known works.
Artemisia Gentileschi was a very talented albeit restricted female artist during the Italian Baroque
period. She was born in Rome on July 8, 1593, to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montoni. Her
father, Orazio, was a great and highly sought after artist for his work in frescoes, altarpieces and
portraits. A most notable patron was Pope Paul V. Orazio was surprised at his daughter s talent
for painting and ensured that he gave her the proper training. She has also had the distinct
advantage of being surrounded by a variety of local and foreign artists. As young as twelve years
old, Artemisia was able to expertly grind and mix her father s pigments and assist him in small
commissions. Her first known dated painting was Susanna and the Elders, completed

Remember the refrain: We always build on the past; the past always tries to stop us. Freedom is
about stopping the past, but we have lost that ideal Lawrence Lessig. This quote is helpful to
remember. We should always keep our head in the present but never forget what happened in the
past to bring us here today, and be grateful for our current status. The holocaustwas an important
event in the pastthat we shouldn t forget. There are many stories, biographies and autobiographies
written about it today. Night by Elie Wiesel, an autobiography about the holocaust, should be a
required high school reading because it is an important event, of many, that show us why we should
be grateful for our current state.
This book is very good for details, events, places, names, stories, etc. It shows the reality behind
all the events that took place during the holocaust. He made sure to describe as much as he
could in as much detail as possible. I have to say that this book deals greatly in imagery and lets
the reader keep an image in their head. This book is truly unlike any other because it shows
emotions and how people felt about the events that took place, it also shows how unstable the
living conditions were and how horribly they were treated. This is all very tragic to ... Show more

What Is Sun Zi Art Of War Essay
Introduction
First of all, we should understand the meaning of Sun Zi s Art of War . Sun Zi actually was the
name of Chinese military leader in an era know as Autumn and Spring Period who wrote a very
influential book called The Art of War . Sun Zi is admire and respect by everyone until now
because of his high intelligence. His story began with the king of one of the feuding vassal states
challenged Sun Zi to prove his military expertise by turning a group of royal courtesans into a
well trained military force. The king was so shocked by Sun Zi when he beheaded two of the
king s favourite in front everyone to warn the group of courtesans. The king was so impressed
when courtesans armies followed Sun Zi order perfectly that he put Sun Zi in charge of his
whole family. Furthermore, for mystery of Sun Zi, there is still a lot of scholars trying to figure
out who Sun zi was, whether he was existed before or the legend about him. There was a time of
a great turmoil in China like many vassal state vied of power and control of country. And so, the

emphasizes the importance of positioning in military strategy. Decision of positioning an army
which must be based on both objective condition in the physical environment and subjective of their

Analysis of Common Foods
Nutter Butter Niacin Niacin is found in its natural form in fish, peanuts, yeast, and grains. In the
milling process of grains, it is usually removed. The government s action of trying to reduce
niacin deficiency has led to the fortification of niacin in food. Fortification is an attempt to
replenish the niacin lost in food processing. Niacin helps the energy from food reach the cells in
the body. It s important to the health of the live and production of hormones. Partially
Hydrogenated cottonseed oil Partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil is oil that has been pressed
from the kernel of the cotton seed. The oil then goes through the process of adding more
hydrogen to the oil. Adding more hydrogen makes the oil have a higher boiling point and also
helps to increase the shelf life of the oil. It is used for mayonnaise, salad dressing, shortening,
and margarine for its neutral flavor and flavor stability. The oil is very high in saturated fat. Soy
lecithin Soy lecithin is a natural stabilizer for emulsifying fats in processed foods. It is known to
create a creamy texture in wet and dry blends and in dressings by solidifying the margarine or fat
in the food. Lecithin is a group of yellow brown fatty acids that come from plant and animals
sources, which contains many important nutrients. Its fat properties are why it is used in various
processed foods. Vanillin Vanillin is a natural part of vanilla and is the major component that makes
up vanilla s distinctive flavor.

It is also a market that is relatively untapped (e commerce groceries) while at the same time

economic times, people will unlikely pay for a luxury service such as this. People with low
discretionary income will go to a local grocery store and buy food on sale, instead of paying for
extra delivery fees. Another cost saving benefit of ordering online is saving on ever increasing
gas prices. * Social: * The largest demographic in Canada is that of the aging one. This has a
wonderful impact on people who are perhaps too frail or too sick to go and get their own
groceries, but still want home cooked meals. This alternative gives these types of people the
freedom to continually eat fresh foods without having to go and physically get them. This
system is also good for people who are time poor. People who work longs hours, have big
families or who simply don t care for the shopping experience will also utilize this method of
obtaining good wholesome food. Also, many people in the Toronto area do not own a vehicle
and they rely on the transits to go places, it is difficult to carry all of your groceries onto the
transits and then walk them to your house. * Technological: * Grocery Gateway has five main
technological systems. They have a Web order processing system which was developed in house.

Lateral Periodontal Cyst Case Study
Lateral periodontal cysts (LPC) are defined as nonkeratinized and noninflammatory developmental
cysts located adjacent or lateral to the root of a vital tooth. These lesions are more common found
in adults between 50 and 70 years of age. These cysts arise along the lateral periodontium or within
the bone between the roots of erupted vital teeth. The Botryoid odontogenic cyst (BOC) is a
polycystic variant of the lateral periodontal cyst. Most often Botryoid odontogenic cysts are
multilocular, and larger than lateral periodontal cysts, ranging between 5 mm and 45 mm and often
extending into the periapical region of involved teeth.

Prognosis and Predictive Factors
Lateral periodontal cysts and Botryoid odontogenic cysts should be removed surgically by
conservative enucleation or excision, and the patient should be followed radiographically for
several years afterward to check for recurrence. The bone will likely regenerate in the bony defect
over 6 months to 1 year. Root deviation caused by lateral periodontal cysts are reduced, or they
become normalized after removal of the cyst without the need for orthodontic intervention.
Development of ameloblastoma and squamous cell carcinoma has been reported to occur in lateral
periodontal cysts.
Differential Diagnosis
Gingival Cyst: has the same type of epithelial lining as the lateral periodontal cyst and is located in
the same area, but it lateral periodontal cyst does not have clinical manifestation.
Mental Foramen: anatomical structure through which mental nerve and vessels exit into the mental
area of mandible.
Odontogenic Keratocyst: it is an odontogenic developmental cyst lesion with unique microscopic
appearance. It is usually multilocular and lateral periodontal cyst is not. This lesion is most often
seen in the mandibular third molar, but lateral periodontal cyst is frequently located on the
mandible in relation to the premolars and lateral incisors.
Residual Cyst: is a radicular cyst that remains after extraction of the offending tooth. In a lateral
periodontal cyst teeth are present and vitals. If

Scarlet Letter And Symbolism
The Scarlet Letter and Symbolism Nathaniel Hawthorne uses many forms of symbolism in his
book The Scarlet Letter. Symbolism is, according to Merriam Webster, the art or practice of using
symbols, especially by investing things with a symbolic meaning or by expressing the invisible or
intangible by means of visual or sensuous representations. This means that the author was using
objects to represent an action or idea. The symbols used in his book is either all physical or visible
objects. Many of the symbols in the book are about characters.Nathaniel s ideas came from his
bonds with the Puritans. According to CliffsNotes, the Puritans had great difficulty in loving the

This woman was brave enough to stand on the scaffold and confess her sin, but she never did say
who the partner was in the act of the crime. Hester was also a symbol of peace. Towards the end of
the book, she ends up turning into an adviser to some of the townspeople. Her kindness towards
the town made most of them look at her from a different perspective. She would bring the homeless
clothes that she made for them and they would criticize her afterwards. Children would call her
names their parents would call her and women would give her the silent treatment or yell at her
(Hathorne). That all changed towards the end. Instead of thinking of her letter as adultery it was
now known as able . Another symbol that Nathaniel used was the sunlight. The sunlight was known
as happiness, joy, and truth. Sunlight would not be around Hester because of the scarlet letter, but it
was okay around Pearl. Mother, said little Pearl, the sunlight does not love you. It runs away and
hides itself, because it is afraid of something on your bosom (Hawthorne 202). After Hester takes
off her scarlet letter the sunshine came out directly on top of Hester. It was no longer a dark
place for her. As soon as her letter was put back on, the bright sun also disappeared. The sunlight is
a symbol of truth in one particular way. Mr. Dimmesdale confesses his sin in the sunlight. All truth

Best practice transfer: is the process of sharing the methods of doing business that yield the best
results.
Community of practice: a group of individuals sharing a common work practice over a period.
Expert directories: a tool for knowledge seekers to gain access to experts.
Knowledge brokers: knowledge brokers can be public or scientific, industry specific, or firm

waitlist for nursery schools in Tokyo as of April 1st 2016, Japan . The number has been increased
by 652 from last year. This situation is the problem from viewpoints of two perspectives.
First, it will lead to the delay of women participation in labor force, and it can be serious from the
viewpoint of human rights. According to the report of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare
(MHLW) in Japan, the ratio of female and male workers who took the child care leaves are 81.5%
and 2.7% respectively . This comes from the traditional notion that men are breadwinners.
Therefore, the nursery shortage prevents mainly women from returning to their jobs, leading
further gender inequality.
Another perspective is the economic issue. The delay of women participation in labor force
could be serious in the long run. Japan is an aging society, and percentage of the population aged
65 and over is now 26.0%, and this ratio is expected to go up to 36.1% by 2040 . In order to
achieve further economic growth, McKinsey Company points out that labor force participation of
female in the 25 44 age should go up to about 80 percent by 2040, from 71 percent .
Summary:
The problem comes from the gap between the demand and supply for licensed nursery school,

Peter Gibbon Heroes
In Peter H. Gibbon the The End of Admiration: The Media and the Loss of Heroes (247) he
explores media favoritism, specifically the use of deviant material to generate a preeminent
audience. Gibbon states that because the media expels blather, which is sometimes inaccurate or
overly exaggerated, the public is afraid, skeptical, misguided and often dumbed down. He reiterates
that although the everyday public may have an immense amount of media sources, they continue to
be seduced by the more prominent of the sources (i.e. pop culture, actors, musicians) and tend to
believe everything they read and hear. No one seems to know or care about a true hero, they
admire those that are featured in the news, regardless of negativity. He compares

The Holocaust Survivor And The Survivors Of The Holocaust
Holocaust Survivors

There are all these moments you think you won t survive. And then you survive. ~ David Levithan.
Holocaust survivors embodied this quote because they had odds stacked against them and were
surrounded by death but still they survived. The Holocaust started on January 30, 1933 and ended
on May 8, 1945. During the Holocaust around 11 million jews, gypsies, mentally ill people,
disabled people, and anyone else Adolf Hitler didn t see fit were killed. Hitler had an ideal master
race in mind for Germany. These people were tall, had blond hair, and had blue eyes. Hitler and
his party members, Nazis, sent the people they thought that didn t fit in to camps. In these camps
they were forced to live and work in poor conditions until the Nazis decided to kill them. Not many

still being affected by being starved during wartime. Today they have higher rates of osteoporosis,

Survivors have higher nutritional needs today than the general elderly population and meeting
those needs are costly. Most survivors are poverty stricken, making it hard for them to eat healthy

Comparing Rap And Classical Music
Rap and classical music are often portrayed as two different types of music. One can tell the
difference of the genre from the sound, and the music s essences. Producers and composers of
these two styles of music present themselves differently, however, they both do what they love
and express their emotions through vocals or use of instruments. Almost all Rap artists write
their own lyrics. Because of this, most rap songs are direct and often very personal. Most rap
music s instruments are electronic, and computer generated. As for classical music, it has more of
a sophisticated sound. This style of music has a strong emphasis on beauty, balance, and elegance.
However, if you take your time and listen to both genres carefully, you can find many similarities
between the two through the use of tempo, melody, and rhythm. Both classical and rap music have
history. Even though classical is mostly just instruments playing, the composers, like rap artists,
write their own music and lyrics. What makes a song interesting and powerful is when it has
story to tell. Any musician that writes their own music is a form of expression that they voice to
their audience and listeners. `Ever since I was young I have always had a passion for music. I love
understanding what drove the artist or musician to write that song. I never thought I would take the
time to really appreciate classical music until I took this music course. I attended two classical
concerts that left me entirely speechless.

Abstract
The Government of India recognizes the importance of the private sector in bridging the resource
gap in investment and improving the operational and managerial efficiency in the transport sector in
order to address capacity constraints and deficiencies in the existing transport infrastructure and
meet rapidly growing demand. The Government is actively pursuing policies to promote private
sector involvement in the development of transport infrastructure and services.
The experience in involving the private sector in transport development in India is the focus of the
paper. It provides a broad overview of government policies and various initiatives that have been
undertaken to promote private participation following various models. It also discusses
achievements made in different subsectors and draws some conclusions on major policies.
The development of a nation is now a day fully related to the development of transportation
infrastructures. The development of good roads leads to proper transportation of passengers and
goods. The transportation engineering agencies in India are working very

Nursing Observation Report
In every organization there is always room for change. Interning at Queens Endoscopy Center
has shown me that. The first few weeks interning I noticed there could be more signs up for
directions. The endoscopy center is located in a building with many floors and this center is on
the 3rd floor. Once patients get out the elevator there is no sign on which direction to turn to get
to the front desk. There is just one door leading to another. I would like to put up more arrows
and signs to guide the patient in the directions to go to. If I were to get lost by not knowing where
to go, I felt others would as well. Another change that I would like to partake in would be the
communication between the front desk staff and the nurses. There is a lot of confusion that occurs

I would like for them to make sure this does not happen often since it leaves patients being
unhappy. In order to fix this there can be more staff just making sure the system is updated since
there are different physicians as well as many patients assigned to each of these doctors. Lastly,
id likes to eliminate some of the paper work still. I know it is hard to get rid of paper but I feel
that loads of paper is being wasted here. I notice that a lot of elderly people come to this center
and have not been up to date with technology and this is where the paper work comes in. I would
like to promote the access of patients to there own health record online. If they want to see the
pictures they can have access rather then it all being printed. It is not hard for an elderly or any
other patient to use this patient management system on his or her own. Overall, patients getting lost
to just finding this center get them frustrated just the start of their visit and no one would want that.
That is why I figured change could be done

Factors And Effects Of Tipping In The Service Industry
1.1Research Background
Tipping can be said existed around the world, and it is especially in the service industry such as
hotel and restaurant. Tipping In Canadian restaurants for example, about 5 billion Canadian dollars
has been tipped out by the consumers each year and 14 billion is reported being paid out by the
Americans to the restaurants employees (Zahari, Rashdi, Radzi, Othman, 2011).
Tipping refer to the voluntarily money received by the service crews from the consumers which
is not legally required by the agreement for the purchase of the service (Casey, 2001). These tips
are supposed to be an incentive or reward for the service. In fact, economists argue that the most

Cognitive Behavior Therapy And Therapy
There are many that have contributed to cognitive behavior therapy or CBT throughout the years
but we are going to focus on the founders of modern day CBT, Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck. Ellis
is responsible for the Rational emotive behavior therapy, the first of the CBT in the 1960 s. The
bases of REBT is suggest that a patient s emotional distressed stems from their thoughts about a
traumatic event, and not the event itself. Ellis developed this approach as a means to get over his
personal problems growing up, problems such as public speaking and his shyness around women.
Beck during the 1970 s developed cognitive therapy, which suggest that a patient behavior is
affected by the way they structure the world based on the attitudes and assumptions they encounter
on previous experiences. Becks main purpose was to create an evidence based therapy that
addressed depression. Beck based the validity of his theory after he tested it and the constructs with
empirical studies while conducting controlled outcome studies to determining how the outcomes
would compare with existing psychotherapyand pharmacotherapy treatments for depression. CBT
is a group of related therapies that are based on scientific research that are scientifically proven
effective. When we trace the roots of CBT it actually began in the 1940 s when there came a need
for an effective but short term therapy for WWII vets, who were returning from war and in need of
therapy for anxiety and depression. Research

From this territory of the viceroyalty, the main exports of silver, livestock and crops, such as
wheat, would be harvested and sent back to Spain in exchange for manufactured goods.
Although, at this time Argentina was flourishing due to its exportation of valuable goods, this
small sectored economy ultimately was the first factor that set the tone of economic depression
in Argentina, as the economy revolved around the cultivation and exportation of commodity
goods. This trend was consistent until the 1800 s, the latter of the colonial period, where trade
saw a decline due to the Napoleonic Wars. The decline was driven by tariff barriers and high
transpiration costs, resulting in the Consumer Price Index rising by 64 points. (Paolera and
Taylor 35) With this decline and trade, Argentina saw a major weakening of its major economic
sector and there saw an increase in social inequality along with a decline in the well being of the
lower classes. Then between 180 and 1816 Argentina broke away from the Spanish Empire and
declared independence. Upon its newly found independence, Argentina s economic struggles arose
once again and would last for the next couple of decades as a result from tension between the creole
and remaining Spanish elites. The Spanish elites that remained in Argentina set up an oligarchic

Dated INCOME INEQUALITY AND ITS EFFECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
INTRODUCTION
Income inequality and its effect on environment have been highlighted by a number of authors. The
previous paper in this regard highlighted general and government specific aspects of the two
determinants of environment, environment degradation and health. The aim of this paper is to
highlight the environmental emergency that emerges due income inequality. The two aspects to be
studied under this emergency would be increasing environmental deterioration through pollution
and the relationship of income inequality with mortality. The basic theme of this paper is
sustainability and how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Beaglehole and Bonita, mortality refers to the rate of death in the society. Since the
theme of this paper is sustainability, the focus is on mortality aspect of health in terms of variable
household incomes. This implicates the severe consequences that may emerge as a result from lack
of governmental focus on equal distribution of wealth in a society. A number of previous researches
were considered in this regard to highlight the most vulnerable segments within the purr segment
that reflect low mortality rates. The gist of this aspect lies in the relationship between income and
mortality rates that result from inequitable resource allocation and income distribution (Beaglehole
and Bonita, 1997).
INCOME INEQUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION According to Laurent,
democracy is aspired and sought by many countries however, environmental equality is not
considered as one of the core reasons for it. Isolating the rich and the poor segments reveals that
environmental consideration by the upper segments has a trickledown effect on the middle class.
According to Indira Gandhi at an environmental summit in 1972, poverty should be regarded as the
biggest pollutants. This is because social emergency leads to use of resources for pressing issues
like catering to the growing needs of the people instead of focusing on sustainability or preservation
of the environment.

Marketing strategy of Samsung mobile phone.
The global communications industry has been changing during the past few years, and quite

Accordingly, the demand for handset products, from businesses to consumers continues to rise. The
question is how handset manufacturers have fit their global marketingstrategies to win widespread
acceptance as competition intensifies. Thus, this analysis highlights Samsung s recent success as a
very typical case in point to the above question. In more focus, the purpose of this analysis is to

Thus, global marketing does suggest that reaching global consumers is a strategically intended
outcome of a hybrid strategic approach. In more details, four main factors included in the above
mentioned approach are product, price, place, and promotion. In other words, when marketing their
products, whether locally or globally, firms need to create a successful mix of:
* the right product
* sold at the right price
* in the right place
* using the most suitable promotion.
1. 1. Product decisions
A product is defined as: Anything that is capable of satisfying customer needs . Then the product is
the central point on which marketing energy must focus. Finding out how to make the product,
setting up the production line, providing the finance and manufacturing the product are not the
responsibility of the only marketing function. However, it is also concerned with what the product
means to the customer. Marketing therefore plays a key role in determining such aspects as:
* the appearance of the product in line with the requirements of the market
* the function of the product products must address the needs of customers as identified through
market research.

The Negative Effects Of Binge Drinking In College
Binge drinking in college can negatively impact your college experience by increasing the
possibility of physical and sexual assault, injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and academic
problems. Social influence has a major impact on the amount of alcohol college students
consume. In particular, this paper will discuss how direct offers, perceived descriptive norms,
injunctive norms, and exposure to alcohol content on social media networks increase the
amount of alcohol college students consume. Direct offers can range anywhere from a simple
gesture to persistent encouragement from others. Meisel and Alfai s research sample consisted
of 156 college students who have consumed alcohol in the last 30 days. There were 99 females
and 57 males between the ages of 18 and 24. The study s participants included Asians, Pacific
Islanders, Hispanics, African Americans, and Caucasians, who were the majority of the
participants. First, the participants were asked to list 10 goals to focus on over the next couple
of months. Then they were asked to rate their top five goals on a scale of 0 10 based on
importance. After rating their goals they were asked: How many times they have been offered a
drink in the past year? Finally, the students had to fill out the Daily Drinking Questionnaire
which was used to assess the quantity of alcohol consumed in the past month and the frequency
of heavy drinking episodes (4 drinks per occasion for females and 5 drinks per occasion for
males) (Meisel Alfai, 2015). The study s results discovered that direct offers have less of an
influence on students with higher levels of goal meaning. Even though the students with higher
levels of goal meaning are less likely to be influenced, direct offers are still shown to have a major
impact on increased college drinking. In relation to college drinking, perceived descriptive norms
refer to the perception of how much or how frequently others drink (Rinker Neighbors, 2013).

including, Caucasians, Asians, African Americans, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, and Native

Was William Of Normandy Justified
William of Normandy was the legitimate heir to the throne of England in 1066 for many reasons.
Legitimacy is the realness of something or someone that is valid, supported, and accepted. He was a
legitimate ruler because he had military accomplishment, he had justification from the religious
world, and he had the peoples approval. One criteria William of Normandy met to meet the
standards of being a legitimate king was, he had military accomplishment. One example was when
William went to war with Duke conan of Britanny, as the intense batlttle was filled with battle
soldiers on horseback throwing lances, and trying to set fire to the defences, and it finaly came to
an end when the mighty conan surrendered. Another military accomplishment William of
Normandy had was after Willam heard that Harold overtook king after king Eward died, William
was furious. This caused him to organize a fleet of warships and invade England, and the Battle of
Hastingshas offically begun. The long and violent battle is hardly faught, with men on the ground,
and as William... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this is, when he offically became king of England he gave lands out to the
people. Most notibily, he gave land to the churches because the pope supported his claim to the
English throne, therefore he had religous support to his rulership. Another example of his
religous justification is, his half brother Odo. He made Odo the Bishiop of Bayeux, and even
built a catherdiral there. Odo was always on Williams side in battle, by leading prayers for
victory..( Britan s Bayeux Tapestry ar Reading Museum ) Finally, William had receieved the oath
of allegiance from Harold, which is another justification he recieved from the religous aspect of
life.(Crack ВЁBatle of Hastings 1066 ) overall, throughout Williams rule, the religous life was a
big part in his sucession and support he had, from the pope to his half brother who became the

Child Labour In China
How would you feel if your child was forced to work every day just for your family s survival?
Child labour is work that exploits children mentally and physically, as well as keeping them away
from school. The International Labor Organization estimates that 215 million children between the
ages of 5 and 17 currently work under conditions that are considered illegal, hazardous or
extremely exploitative. China is one of the main culprits. A recent study by the China Labour
Bulletin in 2000, indicated that there were approximately 11,575,000 children at work between the
ages of 10 to 14 in China. This violates many articles from the Convention of Rights of The Child.
For example, article 32 states that, You have the right to protection from work that harms you,
and is bad for your health and prevents you from receiving an education. If you work, you have
the right to be safe and paid fairly. (The Convention of Rights of The Child, В§ 32, 1990). Child
labour in China is a major problem that needs to be resolved. This essay will examine how child
labour affects many misfortunate children, whilst demonstrating how child labour is still an
uprising trend, one that needs to be changed. Showcasing why it s so important to actively change
our worldview on the exploitation of child labour, for the greater good of future generations.
Undeniably, there are many reasons why child labour occurs. The most common reason why is
because of the lack of money in povertystricken areas or

Drug Culture In The Other Wes Moore
In the 1960s, drug culture was popularized through music and mass media, in our current society
we still find this relevant. Although we are more knowledgeable about drugs and alcohol, an
estimated 208 million people internationally consume illegal drugs. The question is why do we
conform to a society that is dependent on such substances? Perhaps drugculture is still present due
to the references we witness on a daily basis. Witnessing this has resulted in drugs being a constant
norm in society, the recently published novel, The Other Wes Moore; addresses drug culture. This
novel actively demonstrates the choices we make in our everyday life, resulting in consequences
that ultimately make or break our futures.

the drug culture has impacted society, it was so apparent for the other Wes while he was growing

Liberal Arts Degree Research Paper
From the outside, it is hard to see why I would want to earn a liberal arts degree. Time and time
again, the lifetime earnings of workers who studied in the liberal arts are outpaced by their peers
who worked in engineering. These hard sciences of math and engineering are lauded as the right
choice for future success by ambitious parents and counselors, while liberal artsdegrees are the butt
of jokes. However, for me, a liberal arts degree means a lot more than just making money. It means
a global vision and universality across disciplines, as well as many future opportunities to change
the world radically.
The first thing Liberal arts degrees offer that other fields cannot is global vision. While I could
work all day in a laboratory or classroom and discover new organisms or new theorems, those
discoveries would stay within the scientific community and become a dead dogma of sorts, a truth
that is neither argued nor applied in the real world. With a liberal arts degree, especially one... Show

There is not just one study of liberal arts, but a broad variety of options and fields, from history
to creative writing to philosophy. The entire point of a liberal arts education is to provide a wide
knowledge base of education that develops skills needed for almost any career. Communication,
analysis, and debate coexist in every field imaginable, from science to social studies, but liberal
arts degrees create true polymaths. Those well versed in many subjects can cross apply their
knowledge to form creative solutions to problems plaguing the Earth. With a world criss crossed
by party lines, tribal lines, and ideological lines, someone has to understand all the sides in order to
rejoin the divisions. There is a broad variety of opportunities to mend these tears, from diplomacy to
nonprofit activism, from cultural studies to linguistics. All that matters is a willingness to be open

Daniel Boone, An American Explorer And Frontiersman
Daniel Boone, an American explorer and frontiersman, was born November 2, 1734 in Berks
County, Pennsylvania. Boone was fathered by a blacksmith and weaver, Squire Boone Sr. and
nurtured by his England emigrated mother, Sarah Morgan. Boone was the sixth born and
received a skimp formal education, for he learned to read and write from his mother. Boone
acquired an education in wilderness and survival skills from his father. Boone just like his
father had a niche for woodsmanship and hunting, for at the age of twelve he shot his first bear.
In 1755, Daniel Boone left home for a military expedition that was a part of the French and Indian
War. Boone served as a teamster who drove supplies by wagon for Brigadier General Edward
Braddock,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they blazed the trail that would soon lead to colonization in the Middle West they were faced
with many adversities, because the path through the wilderness was too narrow for wagons due to
the fact it was originally a hunter s trail. The Wilderness Road was steep and rough, and could
only be traveled by foot or horseback, despite that drawback thousand of settlers descended up the
trail to the new discovered land.
Upon arrival in Kentucky, Daniel Boone and his men began the construction of temporary log
huts, Fort Boone, in which he would capture settlement from the Indians. Boone s settlement
received tension from the local Shawnee and Cherokee tribes, for the tribes were flustered with
Boone and his people captivating their territory. In the summer of 1776 the Indian tribes
kidnapped Boone s second daughter, Jemima, as well as two other teenage girls fortunately
Boone and a group of settlers were able to rescue his daughter and two girls just two days after
being captured because Boone knew the ways of the Indians as well as wilderness skills. Boone
and his men surrounded the Indians while they stopped for food and rescued the girls and drove
off the kidnappers. The rescuing of Boone s daughter is one of his most noted events in his life,
James Fenimore Cooper fictionalized this event in his novel,

Neil Shusterman s Unwind
Unwind was a book filled with sass, adventure, and daring escapes. I give it a four point five
stars out of five. The character development was phenomenal and the main female protagonist
was great without being too annoying. But the ending, I feel, was a flop. It was building up to
this huge climax and it just didn t feel that exciting when it happened. Other than the ending
being a flop this was a great book and I feel that more people should read Neil Shusterman s
books because his books are unique from anything else in the YA scene and they will just pull you
in from the first sentence. I think that dystopian has become a very worn out genre in YA
literature but this doesn t feel like dystopian it feels like a great huge pile of awesomeness... Show

Harrison Ford is a great actor and he s old enough to fit the bill for the Admiral. Harrison Ford is a
grumpy little cinnamon roll in real life so I think he would do good depicting a fictional grumpy
cinnamon roll. The Admiral s third rule is that, my way is the only way (Shusterman 197), and
Harrison Ford s characters all have that sort of vibe and he plays that role quite well. The
Admiral fought in the civil war and has seen the horrors of battle, in this line it says I fought in
the Heartland War. The scars you so impertinently assumed were transplant scars came from a
grenade (Shusterman 222). The Heartland War took place many years before the events in the
book take place and Harrison Ford is around the age of seventy two, so it seems like they d be
around the same age.
I also really like Logan Lerman as Connor. Even though they screwed up the Percy Jackson
movies, I still really liked Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson and Connor reminded me of Percy
Jackson in mannerism and in looks. When Connor just randomly says nice socks (Shusterman
101), it reminds me of something Percy would have done. For me, Percy will forever be Logan
Lerman so Connor just ended up looking like Logan Lerman. Connor is described as having
brown eyes on the first page and Logan Lerman has blue eyes but I think that s a miniscule detail.
He could always wear contacts if it bothers people that

Eraserhead
Eraserhead is a 1977 surreal, psychological horror film written and directed by david lynch. It
stars jack nance and charlotte stewart...... Eraserhead tells the story of henry, a depressed,
isolated man who after being invited to his girlfriend marys home for dinner is informed that she
has given birth to a baby. Henry and mary get married and soon after his wife leaves him, leaving
him to care for his horribly mutated offspring, all the while henry has bizare dreams and visions.
Eraserhead is shot entirley in black and white, against a bleak, post industrial landscape. The lack
of color and any live vegitation heightens the feeling of desolation in the world that henry inhabits.

The chacracter of henry seems to have trouble in all these areas and desperatly wants to escape
his life and environment, his visions of a lady in the radiator, the only character in the film who
seems genuinly happy, seem to offer him an escape from his reality and ultimately his ill,
mutated baby. Lynchs use of surrealist imagery in this film is arresting, if not nightmarish at
times. An example would be the dinner scene when henry is asked to carve the chicken by
marys father, as soon as he sticks a fork in it, its legs begin to move whilst it oozes blood. In
certain scenes we share in henrys confusion and shock at the events occuring around him, a
testament to lynchs direction and jack nances perfomace. for most of the film henry is a passive
character, alowing things to happen to him without his intervention to stop them, by the end of the
film however he determines to free himself and does so in one of the more disturbing scenes of the

Medicine During The Civil War
During the Civil War, medicine was an important aspect for every soldier due to the fact that
many soldiers had to fight and ended up with injuries also there were many types of illnesses. In
this essay, I will focus on the advance of medicine during the Civil War. Also how the soldiers
and civilians were treated as well as how sanitize their location was, are questions I will try to
answer. Also, I will like to include some of most known causes of deaths during the Civil Warand
the types of diseases that soldiers would come in contact with. Include who was in charge of the
hospitals during the war. I will also include information from letters and documents that the nurse
and doctors wrote while the Civil War was going one and what kind of establishments were
created and the kind of equipment they used in the hospital. Since the period of the Civil War was
and is consider to be the start and growth of the medical industry it is important for me to find out
why.
Advances included amputation and the anesthesia inhaler. The surgeon noticed the best way to
save deadly infections was to simply cut off the area quickly as possible. Among the people save
by having and amputation is Daniel E Sickles, the eccentric commander of the Confederate.
Amputations save a large amount of lives than any other procedures also made complex injuries
simpler. To be able to complete these procedures, they would soak chloroform in a handkerchief
and place over their nose but the chloroform would

  • 2. The Use of Symbolism in Robert Frost s Wind and Window... The Use of Symbolism in Robert Frost s Wind and Window Flower I interpreted this poem as a very sad one. A love unrequited by the pursued. In the first two lines the poem tells you to forget about the love you share and hear a tale of this. Not to literally forget, but possibly put aside. The man is a winter breeze, cold and rough and sort of roams the land. The woman is a window flower, shut off from the outside. This sets up the separation. They can see each other and are kept apart by a glass wall. She has all the comforts of the outside, the warmth of the sun and even the company of a caged yellow bird (7) hanging above her. It is almost that the mention of this bird being caged above her is a symbol of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The man notices her, he couldn t help but notice her. Who knows how many windows he has breezed by with flowers in them and kept on moving. For some reason, probably due to the beauty of this particular flower, he had to return to see her. The man knew nothing of love. He was concerned with ice and snow, dead weeds and unmated birds, and little of love could know (14 16). This gives an example of what the breeze was experienced to in his life. We then see the wind s attempt to win her, But he sighed upon the sill, He gave the sash a shake (17 18). This was not a direct approach. The sash may have been the testing of the water to see where he stood by questioning her peers. This was done in full view of her though. He was not very subtle about it either. The people close to the woman knew very well what was occurring, As witness all within, Who lay that night awake (19 20). These were people in the house that were following this courting, laying awake that night was watching and listening. With the next two lines, Perchance he half prevailed, To win her for the flight (21 22), we see that he almost persuaded her. She had to choose between him and the firelit looking glass and warm stove window light (23 24). She was comfortable with what she had. She had warmth and caring where she was and these were things she felt he was unable to offer her. In the last part of the poem we see what her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Manet Essay Manet Much of the art of Manet reflects the developments going on in Paris in the 1860s and 1870s. The rebuilding of Paris was being supervised by Baron Haussman, as much of the old medieval centre of the city was being destroyed so that the new city could be rebuilt. In his book The painting of modern life TJ Clark argues that modern art of the 20th century evolves from the art produced by Manet during this period of great change in Paris. Manet s scenes of Parisian cafes, bars and streets reflected the new Paris. Manet s work influenced the impressionist painters, who were a strong influences on the painting of the 20th century, so in this sense Manet s painting is the first modern art that emerged from the creation of the new Paris ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was one of the largest efforts to rebuild the centre of a city since ancient times. While there was the glamour of the many entertainments in the city, there was also a darker side of poverty, crime and prostitution. The city with its pristine exterior, its soiled underside, its hollow entertainments provided the makings of an enormous duality: a two sided mirror...a spectacle and secret life. (Bromber 1996: 62) One of the key parts to this design by Haussmann were the wide tree lined avenues, which replaced the smaller streets that had previously existed in the city. Haussmann s grand design for the reconstruction of Paris was being carried forward by the Third Republic, and the city was now laced with wide, tree lined avenues. (Schneider 1972: 134) In fact, the modern city of Paris is based on the city that was built by Haussmann and the modern perception of Paris as being the artistic and cultural centre that it is known for, is chiefly based on Haussman s design and re modelling of the city. The art of Edouard Manet depicted modern life in the new Paris, as advocated by the writer Baudelaire. Charles Pierre Baudelaire was a writer in nineteenth century Paris, a contemporary of Manet, who knew Manet personally, and who wrote about the idea of modern life. Baudelaire encouraged the artists of the day to paint modern scenes, such as looking at the world around them for inspiration, rather than turning to scenes from the ... • 4. First Amendment And Music Censorship Essay The First Amendment to the Bill of Rights exists because the Founders of our country understood the importance of free expression. The First Amendment states Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press . . . (Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution 17). One of the ways the American people use this freedom of speechand expression is through the creation of the art form known as music. Music s verbal expression bonds our society through our emotions and experiences. This fundamental right of freedom of expression is being threatened by public and governmental groups who believe they have authority to monitor and decide what others should experience. The censorship of music... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1964, The Rolling Stones catapulted to fame amid outrage and controversy about the surliness of their demeanor and the length of their hair. The Stones were considered dangerous and riots and scenes of hysteria erupted wherever they played. Today, they re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, winners of the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and on the cover of TIME magazine (RIAA; History 2 of 4). There s nothing new about pop and rock music finding its roots in the anger and rebellion of young people, and there s nothing new in older people expressing unrealistic fears about that music (RIAA; History 3 of 4). History has shown us that what may be initially perceived as objectionable is actually only the reaction of a new or different experience. Musicians are protected under the First Amendment equally as any citizen in the United States of America. They deserve the same basic human rights we all practice, however the freedom of expression has special relevance for musicians (Hald 1 of 8). This offers a special protection of musicians against arbitrary censorship and persecution (Hald 1 of 8). Not only does censorship of music threaten the freedom of speech, but it also threatens a musician s right to promote their work through free enterprise. Musicians have the freedom to play music in public or private domains, give concerts, and release CDs (Hald 1 2 of 8). Some concert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author of A Day s Wait is Ernest Hemingway. The main character in this story is a boy named Schatz and the story is told from Schatz s father s point of view. In the story Schatz has the flu and he thinks he is going to die because he misunderstood the temperaturemeasurements of Celsiusand Fahrenheit. The author of the story Stolen Day is Sherwood Anderson. The main character is a boy who believes he has inflammatory rheumatism. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these differences is, in the beginning of the story, Schatz does not want his father to come into his room because he does not want his father to become ill as well. Schatz s father insisted that he reads to Schatz. Schatz s father stayed with Schatz and read to him for a while. In the story A Day s Wait it says, I read aloud from Howard Pyle s Book of Pirates; but I could see he was not following what I was reading, (Hemingway 300 301). This quote shows that Schatz s father read to Schatz even though Schatz was not following along. On the contrary, the boy from Stolen Day wants more attention from his mother. In the story Stolen day it says, She was pretty busy that day and hadn t paid much attention to me. She had made me get into bed upstairs and then hadn t even come up to see how I was, (Anderson 307). This quote shows the boy wanted more attention from his mother, because he said his mother had not paid attention to him. Another difference between the two stories is Schatz was truly sick while the boy was not. The doctor came to Schatz s house and gave him medicine so he would get better. However, the boy from Stolen Day only thinks he had inflammatory rheumatism because he wants an excuse as to why he can go fishing instead of going to school, (Anderson 307 308). • 10. Female Italian Artists of the Baroque Period Female Italian Artists of the Baroque Period Many male artists during the Baroque Period were tremendously successful having received many commissions from a multitude of rich patrons. Their equally talented female counterparts were not as accepted in the male dominated society. Although equally talented, the patriarchal mentality of the times ensured a difficult road for some in the artistic world. The more prominent female artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Lavinia Fontana and Orsola Maddalena Caccia had the advantage of having fathers who were prodigious artists themselves and provided the training required for them to flourish as great virtuosos in their own right. I will show and explain some of their known works. Artemisia Gentileschi was a very talented albeit restricted female artist during the Italian Baroque period. She was born in Rome on July 8, 1593, to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montoni. Her father, Orazio, was a great and highly sought after artist for his work in frescoes, altarpieces and portraits. A most notable patron was Pope Paul V. Orazio was surprised at his daughter s talent for painting and ensured that he gave her the proper training. She has also had the distinct advantage of being surrounded by a variety of local and foreign artists. As young as twelve years old, Artemisia was able to expertly grind and mix her father s pigments and assist him in small commissions. Symbolism is, according to Merriam Webster, the art or practice of using symbols, especially by investing things with a symbolic meaning or by expressing the invisible or intangible by means of visual or sensuous representations. This means that the author was using objects to represent an action or idea. The symbols used in his book is either all physical or visible objects. She would bring the homeless clothes that she made for them and they would criticize her afterwards. Children would call her names their parents would call her and women would give her the silent treatment or yell at her (Hathorne). That all changed towards the end. Instead of thinking of her letter as adultery it was now known as able . Another symbol that Nathaniel used was the sunlight. The sunlight was known as happiness, joy, and truth. Sunlight would not be around Hester because of the scarlet letter, but it was okay around Pearl. Mother, said little Pearl, the sunlight does not love you. It runs away and hides itself, because it is afraid of something on your bosom (Hawthorne 202). After Hester takes off her scarlet letter the sunshine came out directly on top of Hester. It was no longer a dark place for her. As soon as her letter was put back on, the bright sun also disappeared. The sunlight is a symbol of truth in one particular way. From: Public Secretary of the Governor in Tokyo Metropolitan Government Preface: According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) report, there are 8,466 children on the waitlist for nursery schools in Tokyo as of April 1st 2016, Japan . The number has been increased by 652 from last year. This situation is the problem from viewpoints of two perspectives. First, it will lead to the delay of women participation in labor force, and it can be serious from the viewpoint of human rights. According to the report of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) in Japan, the ratio of female and male workers who took the child care leaves are 81.5% and 2.7% respectively . This comes from the traditional notion that men are breadwinners. Therefore, the nursery shortage prevents mainly women from returning to their jobs, leading further gender inequality. Another perspective is the economic issue. The delay of women participation in labor force could be serious in the long run. Japan is an aging society, and percentage of the population aged 65 and over is now 26.0%, and this ratio is expected to go up to 36.1% by 2040 . In order to achieve further economic growth, McKinsey Company points out that labor force participation of female in the 25 44 age should go up to about 80 percent by 2040, from 71 percent . • 23. Comparing Rap And Classical Music Rap and classical music are often portrayed as two different types of music. One can tell the difference of the genre from the sound, and the music s essences. Producers and composers of these two styles of music present themselves differently, however, they both do what they love and express their emotions through vocals or use of instruments. Almost all Rap artists write their own lyrics. Because of this, most rap songs are direct and often very personal. Most rap music s instruments are electronic, and computer generated. As for classical music, it has more of a sophisticated sound. This style of music has a strong emphasis on beauty, balance, and elegance. However, if you take your time and listen to both genres carefully, you can find many similarities between the two through the use of tempo, melody, and rhythm. Both classical and rap music have history. Even though classical is mostly just instruments playing, the composers, like rap artists, write their own music and lyrics. What makes a song interesting and powerful is when it has story to tell. Any musician that writes their own music is a form of expression that they voice to their audience and listeners. `Ever since I was young I have always had a passion for music. Becks main purpose was to create an evidence based therapy that addressed depression. Beck based the validity of his theory after he tested it and the constructs with empirical studies while conducting controlled outcome studies to determining how the outcomes would compare with existing psychotherapyand pharmacotherapy treatments for depression. Meisel and Alfai s research sample consisted of 156 college students who have consumed alcohol in the last 30 days. There were 99 females and 57 males between the ages of 18 and 24. The study s participants included Asians, Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, African Americans, and Caucasians, who were the majority of the participants. First, the participants were asked to list 10 goals to focus on over the next couple of months. Then they were asked to rate their top five goals on a scale of 0 10 based on importance. After rating their goals they were asked: How many times they have been offered a drink in the past year? Finally, the students had to fill out the Daily Drinking Questionnaire which was used to assess the quantity of alcohol consumed in the past month and the frequency of heavy drinking episodes (4 drinks per occasion for females and 5 drinks per occasion for males) (Meisel Alfai, 2015). The study s results discovered that direct offers have less of an influence on students with higher levels of goal meaning. Even though the students with higher levels of goal meaning are less likely to be influenced, direct offers are still shown to have a major impact on increased college drinking. In relation to college drinking, perceived descriptive norms refer to the perception of how much or how frequently others drink (Rinker Neighbors, 2013). Rinker and Neighbors research participants consisted of 1095 culturally diverse college students including, Caucasians, Asians, African Americans, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans. • 43. Was William Of Normandy Justified William of Normandy was the legitimate heir to the throne of England in 1066 for many reasons. Legitimacy is the realness of something or someone that is valid, supported, and accepted. He was a legitimate ruler because he had military accomplishment, he had justification from the religious world, and he had the peoples approval. One criteria William of Normandy met to meet the standards of being a legitimate king was, he had military accomplishment. One example was when William went to war with Duke conan of Britanny, as the intense batlttle was filled with battle soldiers on horseback throwing lances, and trying to set fire to the defences, and it finaly came to an end when the mighty conan surrendered. Another military accomplishment William of Normandy had was after Willam heard that Harold overtook king after king Eward died, William was furious. This caused him to organize a fleet of warships and invade England, and the Battle of Hastingshas offically begun. • 44. Child Labour In China How would you feel if your child was forced to work every day just for your family s survival? Child labour is work that exploits children mentally and physically, as well as keeping them away from school. The International Labor Organization estimates that 215 million children between the ages of 5 and 17 currently work under conditions that are considered illegal, hazardous or extremely exploitative. China is one of the main culprits. A recent study by the China Labour Bulletin in 2000, indicated that there were approximately 11,575,000 children at work between the ages of 10 to 14 in China. This violates many articles from the Convention of Rights of The Child. For example, article 32 states that, You have the right to protection from work that harms you, and is bad for your health and prevents you from receiving an education. If you work, you have the right to be safe and paid fairly. (The Convention of Rights of The Child, В§ 32, 1990). Child labour in China is a major problem that needs to be resolved. This essay will examine how child labour affects many misfortunate children, whilst demonstrating how child labour is still an uprising trend, one that needs to be changed. Time and time again, the lifetime earnings of workers who studied in the liberal arts are outpaced by their peers who worked in engineering. These hard sciences of math and engineering are lauded as the right choice for future success by ambitious parents and counselors, while liberal artsdegrees are the butt of jokes. However, for me, a liberal arts degree means a lot more than just making money. It means a global vision and universality across disciplines, as well as many future opportunities to change the world radically. The first thing Liberal arts degrees offer that other fields cannot is global vision. While I could work all day in a laboratory or classroom and discover new organisms or new theorems, those discoveries would stay within the scientific community and become a dead dogma of sorts, a truth that is neither argued nor applied in the real world. Boone was fathered by a blacksmith and weaver, Squire Boone Sr. and nurtured by his England emigrated mother, Sarah Morgan. Boone was the sixth born and received a skimp formal education, for he learned to read and write from his mother. Boone acquired an education in wilderness and survival skills from his father. Boone just like his father had a niche for woodsmanship and hunting, for at the age of twelve he shot his first bear. Upon arrival in Kentucky, Daniel Boone and his men began the construction of temporary log huts, Fort Boone, in which he would capture settlement from the Indians. • 48. Neil Shusterman s Unwind Unwind was a book filled with sass, adventure, and daring escapes. I give it a four point five stars out of five. The character development was phenomenal and the main female protagonist was great without being too annoying. But the ending, I feel, was a flop. It was building up to this huge climax and it just didn t feel that exciting when it happened. Other than the ending being a flop this was a great book and I feel that more people should read Neil Shusterman s books because his books are unique from anything else in the YA scene and they will just pull you in from the first sentence. I think that dystopian has become a very worn out genre in YA literature but this doesn t feel like dystopian it feels like a great huge pile of awesomeness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Harrison Ford is a great actor and he s old enough to fit the bill for the Admiral. Harrison Ford is a grumpy little cinnamon roll in real life so I think he would do good depicting a fictional grumpy cinnamon roll. The Admiral s third rule is that, my way is the only way (Shusterman 197), and Harrison Ford s characters all have that sort of vibe and he plays that role quite well. The Admiral fought in the civil war and has seen the horrors of battle, in this line it says I fought in the Heartland War. The scars you so impertinently assumed were transplant scars came from a grenade (Shusterman 222). The Heartland War took place many years before the events in the book take place and Harrison Ford is around the age of seventy two, so it seems like they d be around the same age. I also really like Logan Lerman as Connor. Even though they screwed up the Percy Jackson movies, I still really liked Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson and Connor reminded me of Percy Jackson in mannerism and in looks. When Connor just randomly says nice socks (Shusterman 101), it reminds me of something Percy would have done. For me, Percy will forever be Logan Lerman so Connor just ended up looking like Logan Lerman. Connor is described as having brown eyes on the first page and Logan Lerman has blue eyes but I think that s a miniscule detail. He could always wear contacts if it bothers people that ...
