They are likely to spend money on market research and would value the HSS software as a tool
to decide whether to market an album (screening out the song that won t be successful on the
market) and therefore save money from their marketing budget. On the other hands, HSS would
reinforce the effectiveness of the record company marketing department to help them focusing
on high potential albums. At mid term, it would mean for these Record companies: reduced
fixed cost and therefore higher margin and the benefice of a good reputation for the executive.
Considering a success rate of 80% in detecting a hit for HSS, the A R s executives will be eight
times more effective in picking a song that would be ranked in the Billboard Top 40. Given the
case information, a single that enter the Billboard Top 40 can generate 20 times more sales
(from $100 000 to $2 000 000) and a album with a single in the Billboard Top 40 can generate
more than 130 times more sales (from $300 000 to $40 000 000). Therefore, the use of HSS
could mean a tremendous increase of profit for record companies. Target 2: Music producers

The Murder Of Scottsboro Boys
In the United States in 1931, during America s Great Depression, nine African American boys
faced what is now known as one of America s most tragic trails in history. These young boys were
accused of raping two white girls while riding a train through Alabama. This accusation brought
forth a mob of white peoplein the town of Scottsboro. The boys spent years on trial for this. The
first trial was thought to have been the final convention, little did they know it was only the
beginning. A second trial was held for the nine boys that shook the entire nation. After the second
trial a third one was held after the judge suspected that the evidence was not properly examined.
The nine young boys, known as The Scottsboro Boys, spent their lives in and out of a courtroom
and in a cell for a crime that today is known to have never taken place. On March 31, 1931 nine
boys by the names of; Charles Weems, Clarence Norris, Ozie Powell, Olen Montgomery, Eugene
Williams, Willie Roberson, Haywood Patterson, Andy Wright and youngest of them all, Roy
Wright rode a train heading toward Alabama, they got into a fight with a group of white men that
allegedly lead them to push the white men off of the train (An American Tragedy). The train
stopped at a small town where an angry mob was waiting to find a group of troubled black men.
As they got off the train, two young white women by the names of; Ruby Bates and Victoria Price
claimed, these boys raped us (An American Tragedy). The public

Rembrandt van Rijn People consider the Dutch painter and etcher, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van
Rijn, an important figure in Dutch history. He achieved success at a very early age but had
personal tragedies and financial hardships in his later years. Many are familiar with Rembrandt s
reputation. Rembrandt s works show his greatest accomplishments. Mainly his childhood and home
life influenced his works. Steadfastly, Rembrandt van Rijn, the greatest Dutch portrait painter of all
time, revealed his brilliance by creating realistic masterpieces of poor, working class subjects, and
the ones he loved and lost.

Unfortunately, Rembrandt faced financial difficulties as well that he never paid attention but
would later affect him. After Saskia gave birth to four children, only the last one, Titus, survived
to grow up. Many believe that the birth of Titus explained Saskia s fatal illness. On June 14,
1642, Saskia van Ulenborch died when Titus was only a year old. Five days later, she was
buried in the Oude Kerk. In the 1640s, Rembrandt van Rijn hired Hendrickje Stoffels as his
servant that later became his mistress after the death of Saskia. Yet, he could not marry
Hendrickje or else he would have lost the income from Saskia s part of the estate. Hendrickje
played Saskia s role in all but name (White 129). Hendrickje and Titus became models in
numerous works of Rembrandt. Rembrandt and his new partner soon had a girl named
Cornelia. In 1653, Rembrandt began to face trouble, the worst year of the economic depression
caused by the First Anglo Dutch War. The war almost led to a financial collapse in Amsterdam.
Rembrandt owed money for his house, paid no interest on the exorbitant amount for the past five
years, and had let the original owner pay the taxes on the house for the past three years.
Rembrandt van Rijn sold many of his possessions to pay off his debt. He finally left his house
and moved into a simpler one on the other side of the city, Jordaan. In July of 1663, Hendrickje
Stoffels died. Many say that the plague could have

Inventions Of Gunpowder And Its Inventions Essay
Invention of Gunpowder and its inventions
The innovation of Explosive was a mix up. The objective that was attempting to be accomplished
was to make a blend/ mixture for eternity life. It wound up being the direct opposite of that ,
rather they made a blend for death that is as yet utilized today in numerous things and ways. Gun
powder became to be known as black powder. The makers of black powder were Old Chinese
chemists. The chemists get a kick out of the chance to test things so they started exploring different
avenues regarding blends and different substances for interminability and they wound up making

Although Fireworks are used as visual entertainment across the world for celebrations and culture,
the Chinese used it to scare away enemies and diminish evil spirits. In the early years a common
thing that happened was trading, when one country had a good that another country didn t they
would offer it for something in return. Along the silk road to Europe popular items to trade were
Chinese firearms, fireworks and gunpowder. The trading of gunpowder made it really popular which
caused it to spread around the world. Gun powder is made up of simply three ingredients. The
ingredients to make gunpowder are potassium nitrate, common charcoal and sulfur. Ingredients to
make gunpowder can be easily found at markets where chemicals are sold and no such
identification is needed to purchase them. Potassium nitrate was first made up from decayed
animal and then later on it came from mines in India. The common charcoal is made up from
wood that has been cooked so no such gas is in it, all the gases are to be completely removed.
Sulfur is the thirteenth most existing Element in the earth crust and it can be mined. Mixing the
potassium nitrate, common charcoal and sulfur creates gunpowder, it s not difficult to make it so in
reality anyone can make it to cause damage to property or use it to their intentions. The outcome of
the three chemicals being mixed together causes everything to turn black, once you ve reached the
stage you know gunpowder is in your hands. The

Eternal Life In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, we re taught to appreciate life until the end. At the start of the story,
Gilgamesh is a powerful, but inconsiderate king. He wants so much, but instead of working for
it, he relies on fear to make other people do what he wants So he made his men to work, the
women do his beck and call, they wished that he was gone. (song, line 11 12) That is, until he
meets Enkidu. The two fight, but They both gave up, the battle ends and they decide to be best
friends. (song, line 29 30) Enkidu loyally accompanies Gilgamesh until he is struck with an
illness and dies. After that, Gilgamesh becomes consumed in his task to become immortal.
During his journey, Shiduri attempts to tell Gilgamesh that he will never obtain eternal life, but
should cherish the life he s got left and spend it in happiness, not despair. (456) because what is
the point in living forever if you don t know happiness? After Gilgamesh loses the plant meant to
give him eternal life, he is in a state of complete anguish. He feels like everything he did was in
vain. The epic ends with him admiring his magnificent city and appreciating its beauty and the
work put into it. In a way, nothing significantly changes, but at the same time, to him, everything
does. Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas is a good example of Gilgamesh s story and
development. It gives the message that if you endure your trials till the end, you ll find it was
worth it. Once I rose above the noise and confusion just to get

Pros And Cons Of A Car
Car is one of the basic transportations that are needed by us. It goes along with trains, buses, ships,
airplanes, and any other means of transportations, which help people travel to different places
without so much effort and time wasted.
In ancient times, people only walk if they wanted to go to a different place, while others are using
horses to make the journey faster. However, not all of them are rich enough to have a horse. As
time passes by, few people were born with gifted minds and were able to discover and invent the
train. And without people noticing, new technologies were introduced in different aspects such as
communications, machineries, transportations, etc.
Car is the result of those never ending innovations in transportation technology. Every year, new car
models with unique and specific functions are released and introduced to the public. From the

Because of these, many rental car companies penalize even those young drivers with good records
by restricting some type of cars that will be rented, charging high daily fees and sometimes,
banning some drivers to rent a car.
In most times, drivers at the age of 18 to 21 are impossible to rent since they are renting a car under
25 years of age. But now, if you are in the ages between 21 and 24, you can rent cars in different
places managed by Thrifty, Enterprise, Advantage, Budget, Avis, Dollar, National and Hertz.
However, they still need to pay daily fees which vary on different locations. Luxury vehicles and
SUVs are also prohibited for this age bracket although some companies may reconsider to have
these cars be rented but with higher daily fees.

Primo Levi s If This Is A Man
Primo Levi employs a cool and calculated tone throughout If This Is a Man to emphasize key
moments and gives the reader a peak into what it means to survive the Holocaust. I believe that the
reader was incredibly effective at getting his message across in the book. That despite what you
may think, it was unimaginable what the Jews went through at the hands of the Germans. The book
also gets across that although Levi survived the Holocaust he didn t make it out unscathed.
The detached and scientific tone of this book works remarkably well, making the atrocities even
more unnerving because Levi is so matter of fact about them. However, there are moments
where he allows the reader to feel his pain. In the preface to If This Is a Man, Levi claims that he
was lucky to get deported to Auschwitz in 1944 because Owing to the scarcity of labor, to length
of the average lifespan of the prisoners destined for elimination... temporarily suspended killings of
the at the whims of individuals. This gives the reader an impression that maybe now the conditions
aren t so bad at the camp. However, later in the first chapter Levi describes his arrival at
Auschwitz, saying that only ninety six men and twenty nine women entered Auschwitz and more
than five hundred people from the convoy were killed. The matter of fact tone of the statement is
met with this: This is the reason three year old Emilia died: the historical necessity of killing the
children of Jews was self demonstrative to the Germans . Allowing us a peak of how he may feel

Impact of Globalization on Total Quality Management
Introduction Total quality management (TQM) has been defined as continuous improvement of
every production output whether it be a product or a service, by removing inefficient variations and
by improving the backbone of the work process . International managers like their domestic
counterparts have found that incorporating the notion of total quality managementinto their
management process and style can give the competitive advantage.
A manager s decision making process regarding new or increased international operations involves
reacting to the environment, seeking competitive advantage globally and assessing the company s
capability in the global context.
Globalization makes managers ask certain questions. These questions include: ... Show more

Even though some of outcomes of globalization have been controversial, the market has become
more competitive than ever, thus creating the high demand for quality management.
The fact that globalization has expanded the market for organizations means that TQM is more
important than ever before. Customer demands are higher and if a company does not create
products and services that meet their expectations they can easily access the same or similar
products and services from another company. If managers do not implement TQM into their
company procedure then they will fail to meet the high standards of customers all over the world
and eventually lose their business. When it comes to implementing TQM, it s the mangers
responsibility to create an environment where people can work together to improve their work
processes. If the ownership or senior management does not buy into this concept you will never
succeed. Many people in leadership roles are either too set in their ways or closed minded to the
necessary change needed to really improve the way things get done. You have to buy into the
concept that there is always a better way to do something. By tapping into all the knowledge and
experience your employees possess, you develop solutions that not only improve your execution,
you provide everyone with a sense of accomplishment.. These process improvement teams give
employees a chance to help steer the future direction

Teams For A Team Based Organization
INTRODUCTION
In many organizations, employees work together in structures commonly known as teams.
Organizations utilize teams for a number of reasons (e.g., greater output, quality enhancements, or
better decisions) and give them a range of labels depending on factors such as the members
comprising the team {ex. managers, front line workers} or what the team is supposed to achieve
{ex. to make decisions, develop a new product, deliver a service}. Some of the many types of teams
found in organizations include top management teams, cross functional teams { Bikson, 1996}, self
managing work teams {Cohen, Ledford, Spreitzer, 1996, Orsburn, Moran, Musselwhite, Zenger,
1990}, international task forces { Waite, 1998} and virtual teams {Hiltz, Johnson, Turoff, 1986,
Lumsden }. Despite investing heavily in teams, many organizations appear far from satisfied with
their decision to become team based (Dumaine, 1994). This is mainly due to the overall
effectiveness of their teams and how their effectiveness tends to vary. At one end of the continuum,
teams can be highly performing and produce outputs beyond the capabilities of its individual
members. At the other end, however, they can fail dismally. Outputs for example are not produced
on time or in some instances, not at all. Further, when outputs are delivered, they can be of such a
poor quality, the reputation of the organization and the team members are effected. In the worst
case scenario, these poor quality outputs can

African History Chapter 1 Summary
The second chapter of Africans and their History starts off with discussing the very beginning of
African civilizations which includes talking about Charles Darwin s The Descent of Man and
how the first people originated from Africa instead of Asia like people once thought. The chapter
also delves into how the beings before homo sapiens began to evolve and slowly learn new skills.
Some of these skills include hunting, creating fire, learning to make clothes and many other useful
strategies to for the people living at the time. As time went on, Africans learned to make more
useful agriculture tools with the help of iron. Iron was a huge technological advancement around
2000 B.C. giving the people of the time many new ways to grow and harvest plants more efficiently.

Axum symbolizes the wealth and importance of the civilization of the ancient kingdom that was

time.
Cultural life enjoyed by the Carthaginians may have been below that of the larger cities of the
Classical world. Their interests were turned toward commerce rather than art, and Carthage
controlled much of the Western trade. In Roman times the Punic beds, cushions, and mattresses

Carthage happened to come from its exploitation of the silver mines of North Africa and southern

The American Dream Case Analysis
American Dream Case Analysis At 1981, The George A. Hormel Meatpacking Company cut
wages from $10.69 to $8.25 to claim the need to remain competitive. Companies threat workers
that they either close one plant and then open it at lower wage places or exit the business
directly. Local unions like P 9 firstly request that all the workers should stick to $10.69 an hour
in ten or fifteen years that we could call its target point. The company didn t agree, they asserted
new member workers the company recruited would be paid two dollars less for the same work,
which is different from the P 9 decision. Union P 9 refuses any concessions in the negotiation
process at first, which proves it is an over aspiring negotiator. It reveals its reservation point that
keeping the $10.69 at least three years too early because it has absolute confidence to win the

Diseases Caused By The Protozoan Parasites Cryptosporidium...
Introduction Parasites are organisms which live in close association to a host organism, the
relationship is non mutualistic, in which the parasite benefits and the host incurs costs. (Roberts
Janovy, 2008) The costs range from a visible form of reduced fecundity or survival, but also more
subtly such as reduced attractiveness, leading to reduced mating success (Ebert, 2005). This essay
will concentrate on two diseases caused by the protozoan parasites Cryptosporidium parvum and
Toxoplasma gondii. Cryptosporidium parvum is an apicomplexan parasite that exhibits a faecal
oral type life style. (Wiser, 2011) C. parvum causes the disease cryptosporidiosis, which infects the
mammalian intestinal tract, specifically the distal small intestine. Moreover, it can also affect the
respiratory tract in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent hosts. (Tzipori, 2014). Also,
Toxoplasma gondii causes Toxoplasmosis, which predominantly is asymptomatic, however it can
cause flu like symptoms and eye problems in a small number of hosts (Hunter Sibley, 2012).
Biology Cryptosporidium parvum C.parvum is one of many Cryptosporidium species which can
infect humans. the beginning of the life cycle starts with the ingestion of the C. parvum oocysts
which can be seen in Figure 1 as stage 3. Once ingested the oocysts migrate with other ingested
material along the digestive tract. Until it reaches the intestine, here it releases sporozoites (stage A

Juvenile Rights Of Juveniles
The Rights of juveniles Juveniles also have rights that look out for their best interest. According
to, Delinquency and Juvenile Justice in American Society, Sheldon provides the rights that
juveniles are granted. The supreme court ruled that when a judge considers whether to transfer a
case from juvenile court to an adult court, a juvenile is entitled to a hearing and has the right to
counsel. The court must provide a written statement giving the reasons for the waiver, and the
defense counsel must be given access to all records and reports used in reaching the decision to
waive. Often times juveniles rights are waived or broken due to lack of proper legal
representation. (Sheldon, 2006) In the case of Gault, they argued that the juvenile code of Arizona
was unconstitutional: The justices found in favor of Gault include (1) adequate written notice of
charges, (2) the right to counsel, (3) privilege against self incrimination, (4) the right to cross
examine accusers, (5) a transcript of the proceedings, and (6) the right to appellate review. (Gault,
2002) Nevertheless, more recent studies indicates that the system today has failed to deliver the
procedural justice promised by gault. For example, misconduct which includes forcing unprepared
parties to proceed with trial or a guilty plea, interrupting the lawyers witness examinations with their
own questions, and cutting off lawyers questioning. It was also revealed , two thirds of the

management is well aware of its decisions and makes judgments in the best interest of the
shareholders. But, AutoZone was pushing its luck by accumulating debt and somehow seemed like
the management wasn t concerned about the credit rating of the company.
Another alternative would be to use the cash to increase number of stores or expansion of its
business in Brazil. There is always a first mover advantage that AutoZone could capture in the
Brazil market. AutoZone had already captured the market in Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico.Yet
again, autoparts industry seems to have slowed down its number of store in the last year but the
distance travelled by light trucks has remained the same while the average age of these vehicles has
increased (Appendix Figure 4 amp; 5). This means that these vehicles require maintenance in the
long run. Also, AutoZone could be the first to capture new markets.
Conventionally, AutoZone could also utilize its cash flow in acquisition transaction. Although,
acquiring a budding or established counterpart might increase the cash flow of the firm, additional

Tom Lehrer s Song Wernher Von Braun
In Tom Lehrer s 1967 released song Wernher von Braun, there is a lot of context behind the lyrics
that many first time viewers and the newer generation may not fully understand without
explanation. Wernher von Braun was a German engineer who worked on rocket technology
during and after World War II first for Germany and then the United States (Biography Editors).
When he was in Germany, he was the main developer in creating the V2 rocket that were fired at
Britain where 2,754 were killed while an estimated 6,000 were injured in 1944 (Chris Trueman).
As WWII was coming to an end, Braun was informed that Adolf Hitler ordered that him and his
team of scientist to be executed to prevent from being captured, but Braun instead surrendered to
the United States allies in 1945 (United States History). His time in the United States included
becoming technical director of the U.S. Army Ordnance Guided Missile Project in Alabama and
in November of 1967, he debuted the Saturn V which was twice as big as the Saturn I (Wernher
von Braun). Just before Christmas of 1968, Braun launched Apollo 8, the world s first spacecraft to
travel to the moon(Wernher von Braun) In the first few lines of the song, Lehrer recites Gather...

Naomi Wolf The Beauty Myths
Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman tackle the countless legends and myths of the
21st century, but could they bust the Beauty Myth as well as Naomi Wolf? Her novel, The Beauty
Myth, takes a look at Western sexism during the nineties, where the Beauty Myth is defined as an
impossible beauty standard put into place by men in power to continue the oppression of women.
A decade later, the context of this book is still relevant; though some things have changed, there is
still much to be done if women everywhere want to bust this myth for good. Throughout the book,
Wolf argues sexism is used as a tool of oppression, primarily to keep women from moving into
power. In the chapter, Work, the author used countless legal cases to show the existence

Difference Between Bollywood And Nollywood
Introduction:
The two industries that I have chosen to research is the Film industry is of Indian film industry,
Bollywood, and the Film industry Nigeria, Nollywood. Both Film industries are one of the
biggest industries in the world, creating thousands of films a year. The two directors to come out
of the countries as some of the best directors in the respected countries and the world are Kabor

directors. And Andrew Dosunmu who is a Nigeria Director and had gained much support in the US

The Indian film industry started its journey in 1899 when the first Indian silent film was shot and

Aristotle Virtue Essay
Plato and Aristotle Disagree about Virtue
Plato and Aristotle are great philosophers and they have talked a lot about virtue. Although these
two people started from similar settings, their ideas about virtue were actually different. Plato s
philosophy was more about non material things, like ideas and love. On the other hand, Aristotle
liked things that are more measurable and physicals. In this paper, I will first discuss Plato s ideas
about the nature of virtue, which people have virtue when they are born and people can develop
virtue when they believe in god. Then, I will follow a discussion of Aristotle s ideas that virtue
can be learned by ourselves. Finally, I will conclude by comparing the two different ideas virtue s
nature. To sum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the things that are appropriate to the soul/mind, according to Plato, is virtue, and one
of the aspects of virtue is wisdom. It can be seen from this quote that Plato thinks that one of the
aspects of virtue is wisdom, which is self awareness and knowing about things, like one s proper
function in life. Plato also says that when a soul that is pregnant with virtue, it has the luck to
find a soul that is beautiful and noble and well formed, he is even more drawn to this
combination; such a man makes him instantly teem with ideas and arguments about virtue the
qualities a virtuous man should have and the customary activities in which he should engage;
and so he tries to educate him. In my view, you see, when he makes contact with someone
beautiful and keeps company with him, he conceives and gives birth to what he has been
carrying inside him for ages (Plato, 1989, p.492). This quote shows that Plato thinks that a
person can learn about their own proper function by associating with someone who already has
this wisdom; it cannot be increased. Therefore, for Plato, the aspects of virtue are things like
wisdom, beauty, or nobility, which all can be revealed but cannot be developed more. The next
thing that will be discussed is Plato s ideas on the purpose of virtue. In the Symposium, Plato used
Socrates s speech to express that the use of virtue is to help make

A Brief Note On The Medical Insurance Specialists
ANALYSIS Jim has reorganized the call center by integrating the senior insurance specialists
with the medical insurance specialists instead of having them divided separately into two
groups. The reason for this change is for the senior insurance specialists to offer guidance to the
medical insurance specialists. Jim requests Dave s OD intervention to address the main problem
of missing time commitments. There are many cases to be worked and complex cases are time
consuming. If a case does not have to be escalated, it can be processed faster. The medical
insurance specialists cannot keep up with the volume of cases and calls to physicians which
slow down the process. Also, the majority of cases are detained with the medical insurance
specialists. Hiring additional staff is not in the budget. Jim thinks that the senior insurance
consultants could help the medical insurance specialists because they are more knowledgeable.
Dave requests to observe employees at work prior to the employee meeting. Dave observes
Rosie, a medical insurance specialist, who has cases backed up and calls on hold which puts her
in limbo. Rosie does not want to escalate her cases because she fears losing her job based on the
fact that previous employees were outsourced. She resents the involvement of senior insurance
consultants interfering in her work. Next, Dave observes Carlos, a senior insurance consultant, who
processes complex cases that are very time consuming. Carlos perceives the transition

Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education
America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and
Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope,
their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly
slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that
we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading
articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same
opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor
disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack
of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that
all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major
disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools. James Baldwin
once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is
faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone has the same opportunities needs to wake
up. This is not playtime, there are boys and girls who are struggling for basic needs. Right here in
America their are kids in: East St. Louis, Camden New Jersey, Washington D.C., Bronx New York,
San Antonio Texas, Cincinnati Ohio, southside Chicago, Detroit Michigan, and Alabama who are
not given the equal chances to rise in the world. These kids are faced with but not limited to
poverty, lack of education, crime, dilapidated housing, insufficient healthcare, hunger and
unemployment. East St. Louis the most distressed city in America , the bottom 98% of the
population is black. Вѕ live below poverty level and make less than $7,500 a year. According to

Honor And The Theme Of Honor In Greek Literature
Honor is a vital part of tradition and reputation within the Greek Society. Greek Literature
expresses the theme of honor and its significant impact on the lives of the Greeks. An impactful
representation of honor is in the Iliad, when Odysseus is in constant pursuit of it. Odysseus
surprisingly gives himself a no name, and escapes the Cyclops, then finally says his name, just so
Cyclops can tell everyone about Odysseus and truly how great he is. Honor is of the utmost
importance to their society, whether its representing themselves with character, or being a part of a
significant and important war. Men were sought out to be excellent or aretД“ with a competitive
edge over others during battles or an agЕЌn . To excel means to do better than others; one cannot
have aretД“ alone in a room. How did a man show that he had aretД“? He defeated someone else in
a competition, called agЕЌn... (Burger, pg. 39) The significance of the theme of honor must be
understood with clarity. You shall know also that your seed shall be great, And your offspring be
as the grass of Earth. (Burger, pg. 37) This Greek identity is true and profound in Greek literature.
Not only did they understand their importance with life on Earth, passing down their full
commitment to excellence was proven. For offspring be as the grass of the earth let it be known
that grass is the basis of our planet. Without it, life would seize to exist. Therefore, the identity is
closely interpreted by their society, and

Siddhartha was expected to become a priest and the follow the footsteps of his honorable father.

Characteristics Of Anglo Saxon Heroic Period
The Heroic Era
The Anglo Saxon Period
Old English
In every era, of course there are certain areas that defines the way of living of people on their
specific time period. Some of these are the style of government, the roles of each gender, the
conduct of people, military, language, social and/or economic hierarchy, and more. The Anglo
Saxon Era is no exception. In the Anglo Saxon Period, the most distinguishing areas would be the
Style of Government, the Roles of Men and Women and the Language that they use.
The Anglo Saxon, these are Germans who went to Britain after the fall of the Roman Empire. They
became the masters of the land and the had kept the legacy of the Romans. They brought
Christianity to Britain that most natives refuse to believe in but eventually converted to be

people that endangers the safety of your tribe. In this time, bravery, truth, honor, loyalty and duty,
hospitality and perseverance are some of the Anglo Saxon values. Anglo Saxon, as illustrated by the
literary text named Beowulf, the times were barbaric and would require the use of weapons in
order to bravely defend the land. in this time, the concept of hero is basically what most of the
people wanted to be. They follow the Heroic Code that is consisted of what traits should people

The Current Status Of Prostitution Essay
Research on Prostitution

November 14, 2016
Abstract
This paper will examine the current status of prostitution as an illegal act and the market it
generates; then show what effect legalizing prostitution would have on the prostitution market.
Prostitution has a very large market that if legalized could be used as a source of revenue for
governments through the form of taxes. So the focus will include how the prostitution market is
generated, what parts make up the prostitution market, what profits are made from the prostitution
market, and other such subjects related to the prostitution market.
Research of Prostitution Prostitution is often considered to be one of the oldest professions in
history. All that someone needs would be someone willing to give their body to other people in
exchange for monetary compensation. However, this kind of act is considered criminal by many
societies and as such time is often served by those who are caught participating in the act of
prostitution on either side. While the punishments, convictions, and sanctions vary from state to
state and nation to nation it has all lead to forcing this act to be done out of the line of sight of the
law. With the earliest known example of prostitution occurring in the Ancient Near East where
sacred prostitution was practiced in shrines and temples under various deities of the region (Godley
1920). Since then the market for prostitution has grown to expand

Sociological Exploration Or Research Is A Complex Process

Essay#2 Sociological exploration or research is a complex process. At what time a scientist
attempts to figure out the way the natural world works, he will utilize experiments to search for the
cause and effect. In other words, they construct an experiment so they can observe or evaluate any
change in one entity and cause another to vary in a repetitive way. When things change within an
experiment they are called variables. A variable is a characteristic that can change in value or
magnitude under different conditions. With experiments, there are three types of variables,

Step four you will collect data, this is a critical step in the research process. It provides information
needed to solve or explain the research questions. Step five involves analyzing results. In this
step, all the information that has been collected to answer the question is compared to the
variables to determine the difference. Step six involves presenting the finding of the research.
This is where you will validate or confirm your theory by the data collected and analyzed finally
presenting your findings or your theory. No matter what approach that is used in research, the
researchers want to maximize the study s reliability which is the consistency with which the same
measure produces similar results time after time. Researchers also strive for validity which is the
degree to which a measure is accurate and really measures what it claims to measure. The six steps
of the scientific method in research and the relationship with between cause and correlation can be
explained by saying that correlation merely occur when we detect change in two simultaneously;
causation exist when we can demonstrate in one influence that causes the researchers need to
establish correlation and time order and rule out alternative explanations. A survey is a widely

How Do Driverless Cars Drive Themselves
How do Driverless Cars Drive Themselves? Manufacturers across the globe like Tesla, Mercedes

now they are a reality. Although the most difficult concept of this all is to figure out how they
work. Driverless cars are a new technology made from many older technologies combined, such as

The system is quite similar to sonar and radar, but the only difference would be that LIDAR uses
lasers while sonar and radar use sound and radio waves. What it does is it uses 64 rotating lasers
send micro pulses of light to see where everything is. It uses time of flight which is when it
calculates how long it takes the laser to hit the target and reflect back to the LIDAR system.
Millions of data points are taken every second and used to make a 3D map of its surroundings
and used to show where the car can and cannot go. The 3D map made by the LIDAR is
processed by a system called the Computer Vision. It is the only part of the car that can make
sense of the 360 degree pictures taken by cameras. What it does is look out for certain road
markers a human would have to look out for such as, traffic lights, road signs, and other cars. It
also is constantly on the lookout for other unimportant things like traffic cones, and the very
important things like pedestrians. The last part of the driverless car system is the Central
Computer. The Central Computer reads the data the LIDAR and Computer Vision give and
decides where it will guide the car with the steering, acceleration, and brakes. This computer can
determine whether it will hit something directly in front of it or anticipate a possible car crash 200

Moses Is A Hero s Journey Essay
There must be a strange feeling Moses experiences and I m sure he probably did feel inadequate

this generation are like our prophetic forefathers, we have our faith built by our afflictions and
life drama and we see that God proves himself in our lives daily. Prophets, God is still asking each

limited knowledge of the Truth, please remember this. All things, that God has put in our hands
have been sanctified with the rod of God s authority through the begetting of the Holy Spirit.
This is a life changing principle and we need to embrace. This is something I highly encourage
you to never forget. Yes, it is life changing and supernatural. We may feel inadequate at times,

Even the lamps, tables and window designs mirror similar geometric patterns. By doing so, what
Hoffmann has created is a harmonious environment that is both practical and visually soothing The
sanatorium provided a diverse offering of programs and resources to patients. Their services
included hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, special diets, etc. Their facilities included billiard rooms,
reading rooms, music rooms, saloons, etc. Patients could access everything they needed to feel
comfortable. The effective layout planning of the building contributed to effective therapy
practices. Utilities and services were hidden in the basement, social gathering and dining spaces
were on the first floor, and living quarters were on the second and third floors. This separation of
spaces due to functions created an intuitive organizational structure. The luxury and layout
referenced the style of a grand hotel, but included many quality health related benefits. With an
array of functional offerings, each room in the sanatorium was designed to best serve the function
of the room. For example, the bedrooms intended for tuberculosis patients had the largest windows
to allow the greatest amount of sunlight possible.5

designing the interior elements of the Purkersdorf Sanatorium. As a traditionally trained artist,
Hoffmann was not just an architect, but innovator in

What Motivates Employees Essay
How do you get things done in an organization? First, you must have managers who can delegate to
employees. Effective managers have the ability to get things done through other people. This is
accomplished by motivating employees to accomplish tasks. A manager must be able to delegate
these tasks to employees. The technique a manager uses to motivate employees to work for him,
will either motivate or dissatisfy employees. Motivated employees will work with the manager to
achieve company goals. Those employees who are dissatisfied will work against company goals.
It wasn t that long ago that employees were considered just another input into the production of

This style is involved with the charisma, ability to inspire motivation,..., and ability to relate to
others. (Davidhizar 1997, 17) The encouragement the manager offers must be genuine or else it is
perceived as a form of manipulation. Some employees see non genuine encouragement as
management being fake and trying to get one over on them. This will make the managers job much
more difficult. Encouragement doesn t cost the company anything and it s in all managers best
interest to practice it freely and regularly.
Transformational leadership is about empowerment, cooperation and shared responsibilities.
(Davidhizar 1997, 20) So managers must be comfortable with all forms of encouragement. Also,
when positive actions are encouraged those actions are more likely to be repeated. Many managers
only punish negative behavior never reinforcing positive behavior. When employees are constantly
punished they learn not to vary from what is safe. Managers that reprimand are usually the type of
managers that leave very little of an employees job to the imagination. This type of management
style leads to employees being unmotivated, because the job doesn t let them use their abilities.
Many managers believe that punishment will stop undesirable behavior, punishment doesn t
necessarily assure the behavior will not happen again. It will most likely lead to employees only
exhibiting behavior that attracts praise and reward and

there was a lot of benefits to this land like the amount of resources and lack of population. Russian
tsars started a trading company. Though fur was Alaskas biggest trade, Russiatook advantage of all
opportunities for exports even including ice which was traded to the Southern states of the United
States. Even with the trading company, the population of Russians in Alaska only ever got up to
roughly 400 people. Years later another couple of explorers landed on Alaska land like Captain
James Cook, who landed in nowadays Cook Inlet in Anchorage. Even still, the first Russian
settlement was on Kodiak Island in 1784.
In 1859, Russian Minister to the United States, Edouard de Stoecki, came to the United States and
offered Alaska to purchase. The thought behind selling the piece of land to the U.S. was that the
U.S. could help keep the threating Great Britian in check in the Pacific region of the world. Russia

Girolamo Savonarola s Influence On The Renaissance
Girolamo Savonarola was a controversial figure in the late 1400s. Savonarola, through divine
visions, would predict the coming of a great tyrant that sought to ruin Florence. King Charles VIII
of France would be that tyrant and Savonarola a hero for convincing the king to leave Florence
undisturbed. This connection with the divine and his deep religious beliefs would play a big role
in renaissance Florence. It is these religious beliefs that would influence his politics and how he
fit within the role of the Renaissance. Savonarola fits into the Renaissance context as a force that
wishes to maintain absolute devotion to god. He is someone who wants to keep away humanist
thought and have everyone submit to God in all aspects of life. While people like Pico della
Mirandola and Cardano were very religious men, their approach to thought put more emphasis on
humankind than God. This way of thought would soon become ever more dominate as time carried
on. To start, looking at how he mixed politics and religionmay give a better understanding of what
type of person he was.
Savonarola being the deeply religious man he was, it is of no surprise that these beliefs in god
would work their way into his political ideas. When he was brought on as an advisor for the
government of Florence, he was asked how Florence was best to be governed. Drawing on his
divine beliefs, he stated that the world is governed by one Being, Who is God, and that all natural
things in which one can see some form

In a US market where sales growth is declining by 10.4% in 2002, this situation weakens deeply the whole music industry and opens to the door to a change of pattern in the way executives of this industry predict future hits . Polyphonic HMI, a technology company, relies on a single marketable revolutionary product: Hit Song Science. They are likely to spend money on market research and would value the HSS software as a tool to decide whether to market an album (screening out the song that won t be successful on the market) and therefore save money from their marketing budget. On the other hands, HSS would reinforce the effectiveness of the record company marketing department to help them focusing on high potential albums. At mid term, it would mean for these Record companies: reduced fixed cost and therefore higher margin and the benefice of a good reputation for the executive. Considering a success rate of 80% in detecting a hit for HSS, the A R s executives will be eight times more effective in picking a song that would be ranked in the Billboard Top 40. Given the case information, a single that enter the Billboard Top 40 can generate 20 times more sales (from $100 000 to $2 000 000) and a album with a single in the Billboard Top 40 can generate more than 130 times more sales (from $300 000 to $40 000 000). • 3. The Murder Of Scottsboro Boys In the United States in 1931, during America s Great Depression, nine African American boys faced what is now known as one of America s most tragic trails in history. These young boys were accused of raping two white girls while riding a train through Alabama. This accusation brought forth a mob of white peoplein the town of Scottsboro. Unfortunately, Rembrandt faced financial difficulties as well that he never paid attention but would later affect him. After Saskia gave birth to four children, only the last one, Titus, survived to grow up. Many believe that the birth of Titus explained Saskia s fatal illness. On June 14, 1642, Saskia van Ulenborch died when Titus was only a year old. Five days later, she was buried in the Oude Kerk. In the 1640s, Rembrandt van Rijn hired Hendrickje Stoffels as his servant that later became his mistress after the death of Saskia. Yet, he could not marry Hendrickje or else he would have lost the income from Saskia s part of the estate. Hendrickje played Saskia s role in all but name (White 129). Hendrickje and Titus became models in numerous works of Rembrandt. Rembrandt and his new partner soon had a girl named Cornelia. In 1653, Rembrandt began to face trouble, the worst year of the economic depression caused by the First Anglo Dutch War. The war almost led to a financial collapse in Amsterdam. Rembrandt owed money for his house, paid no interest on the exorbitant amount for the past five years, and had let the original owner pay the taxes on the house for the past three years. Rembrandt van Rijn sold many of his possessions to pay off his debt. He finally left his house and moved into a simpler one on the other side of the city, Jordaan. Primo Levi s If This Is A Man Primo Levi employs a cool and calculated tone throughout If This Is a Man to emphasize key moments and gives the reader a peak into what it means to survive the Holocaust. I believe that the reader was incredibly effective at getting his message across in the book. That despite what you may think, it was unimaginable what the Jews went through at the hands of the Germans. The book also gets across that although Levi survived the Holocaust he didn t make it out unscathed. The detached and scientific tone of this book works remarkably well, making the atrocities even more unnerving because Levi is so matter of fact about them. However, there are moments where he allows the reader to feel his pain. In the preface to If This Is a Man, Levi claims that he was lucky to get deported to Auschwitz in 1944 because Owing to the scarcity of labor, to length of the average lifespan of the prisoners destined for elimination... temporarily suspended killings of the at the whims of individuals. This gives the reader an impression that maybe now the conditions aren t so bad at the camp. However, later in the first chapter Levi describes his arrival at Auschwitz, saying that only ninety six men and twenty nine women entered Auschwitz and more than five hundred people from the convoy were killed. Impact of Globalization on Total Quality Management Introduction Total quality management (TQM) has been defined as continuous improvement of every production output whether it be a product or a service, by removing inefficient variations and by improving the backbone of the work process . International managers like their domestic counterparts have found that incorporating the notion of total quality managementinto their management process and style can give the competitive advantage. Even though some of outcomes of globalization have been controversial, the market has become more competitive than ever, thus creating the high demand for quality management. The fact that globalization has expanded the market for organizations means that TQM is more important than ever before. If managers do not implement TQM into their company procedure then they will fail to meet the high standards of customers all over the world and eventually lose their business. When it comes to implementing TQM, it s the mangers responsibility to create an environment where people can work together to improve their work processes. • 11. Teams For A Team Based Organization INTRODUCTION In many organizations, employees work together in structures commonly known as teams. Organizations utilize teams for a number of reasons (e.g., greater output, quality enhancements, or better decisions) and give them a range of labels depending on factors such as the members comprising the team {ex. managers, front line workers} or what the team is supposed to achieve {ex. to make decisions, develop a new product, deliver a service}. Some of the many types of teams found in organizations include top management teams, cross functional teams { Bikson, 1996}, self managing work teams {Cohen, Ledford, Spreitzer, 1996, Orsburn, Moran, Musselwhite, Zenger, 1990}, international task forces { Waite, 1998} and virtual teams {Hiltz, Johnson, Turoff, 1986, Lumsden }. Despite investing heavily in teams, many organizations appear far from satisfied with their decision to become team based (Dumaine, 1994). This is mainly due to the overall effectiveness of their teams and how their effectiveness tends to vary. At one end of the continuum, teams can be highly performing and produce outputs beyond the capabilities of its individual members. At the other end, however, they can fail dismally. Outputs for example are not produced on time or in some instances, not at all. Further, when outputs are delivered, they can be of such a poor quality, the reputation of the organization and the team members are effected. Introduction Parasites are organisms which live in close association to a host organism, the relationship is non mutualistic, in which the parasite benefits and the host incurs costs. (Roberts Janovy, 2008) The costs range from a visible form of reduced fecundity or survival, but also more subtly such as reduced attractiveness, leading to reduced mating success (Ebert, 2005). This essay will concentrate on two diseases caused by the protozoan parasites Cryptosporidium parvum and Toxoplasma gondii. Cryptosporidium parvum is an apicomplexan parasite that exhibits a faecal oral type life style. (Wiser, 2011) C. parvum causes the disease cryptosporidiosis, which infects the mammalian intestinal tract, specifically the distal small intestine. Moreover, it can also affect the respiratory tract in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent hosts. (Tzipori, 2014). Also, Toxoplasma gondii causes Toxoplasmosis, which predominantly is asymptomatic, however it can cause flu like symptoms and eye problems in a small number of hosts (Hunter Sibley, 2012). Biology Cryptosporidium parvum C.parvum is one of many Cryptosporidium species which can infect humans. the beginning of the life cycle starts with the ingestion of the C. parvum oocysts which can be seen in Figure 1 as stage 3. According to, Delinquency and Juvenile Justice in American Society, Sheldon provides the rights that juveniles are granted. The supreme court ruled that when a judge considers whether to transfer a case from juvenile court to an adult court, a juvenile is entitled to a hearing and has the right to counsel. The court must provide a written statement giving the reasons for the waiver, and the defense counsel must be given access to all records and reports used in reaching the decision to waive. Often times juveniles rights are waived or broken due to lack of proper legal representation. (Sheldon, 2006) In the case of Gault, they argued that the juvenile code of Arizona was unconstitutional: The justices found in favor of Gault include (1) adequate written notice of charges, (2) the right to counsel, (3) privilege against self incrimination, (4) the right to cross examine accusers, (5) a transcript of the proceedings, and (6) the right to appellate review. On the other hand, Aristotle liked things that are more measurable and physicals. In this paper, I will first discuss Plato s ideas about the nature of virtue, which people have virtue when they are born and people can develop virtue when they believe in god. Then, I will follow a discussion of Aristotle s ideas that virtue can be learned by ourselves. Finally, I will conclude by comparing the two different ideas virtue s nature. To sum ... It can be seen from this quote that Plato thinks that one of the aspects of virtue is wisdom, which is self awareness and knowing about things, like one s proper function in life. Plato also says that when a soul that is pregnant with virtue, it has the luck to find a soul that is beautiful and noble and well formed, he is even more drawn to this combination; such a man makes him instantly teem with ideas and arguments about virtue the qualities a virtuous man should have and the customary activities in which he should engage; and so he tries to educate him. In my view, you see, when he makes contact with someone beautiful and keeps company with him, he conceives and gives birth to what he has been carrying inside him for ages (Plato, 1989, p.492). This quote shows that Plato thinks that a person can learn about their own proper function by associating with someone who already has this wisdom; it cannot be increased. Therefore, for Plato, the aspects of virtue are things like wisdom, beauty, or nobility, which all can be revealed but cannot be developed more. The next thing that will be discussed is Plato s ideas on the purpose of virtue. In the Symposium, Plato used Socrates s speech to express that the use of virtue is to help make ... • 26. A Brief Note On The Medical Insurance Specialists ANALYSIS Jim has reorganized the call center by integrating the senior insurance specialists with the medical insurance specialists instead of having them divided separately into two groups. The reason for this change is for the senior insurance specialists to offer guidance to the medical insurance specialists. Jim requests Dave s OD intervention to address the main problem of missing time commitments. There are many cases to be worked and complex cases are time consuming. If a case does not have to be escalated, it can be processed faster. The medical insurance specialists cannot keep up with the volume of cases and calls to physicians which slow down the process. Also, the majority of cases are detained with the medical insurance specialists. Hiring additional staff is not in the budget. Jim thinks that the senior insurance consultants could help the medical insurance specialists because they are more knowledgeable. Dave requests to observe employees at work prior to the employee meeting. Dave observes Rosie, a medical insurance specialist, who has cases backed up and calls on hold which puts her in limbo. Rosie does not want to escalate her cases because she fears losing her job based on the fact that previous employees were outsourced. She resents the involvement of senior insurance consultants interfering in her work. Next, Dave observes Carlos, a senior insurance consultant, who processes complex cases that are very time consuming. Carlos perceives the transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools. Greek Literature expresses the theme of honor and its significant impact on the lives of the Greeks. An impactful representation of honor is in the Iliad, when Odysseus is in constant pursuit of it. Odysseus surprisingly gives himself a no name, and escapes the Cyclops, then finally says his name, just so Cyclops can tell everyone about Odysseus and truly how great he is. Savonarola, through divine visions, would predict the coming of a great tyrant that sought to ruin Florence. King Charles VIII of France would be that tyrant and Savonarola a hero for convincing the king to leave Florence undisturbed. This connection with the divine and his deep religious beliefs would play a big role in renaissance Florence. It is these religious beliefs that would influence his politics and how he fit within the role of the Renaissance. Savonarola fits into the Renaissance context as a force that wishes to maintain absolute devotion to god. He is someone who wants to keep away humanist thought and have everyone submit to God in all aspects of life. While people like Pico della Mirandola and Cardano were very religious men, their approach to thought put more emphasis on humankind than God.
