Stravinsky And Bartok s Influence On The Modern Period
Stravinsky and Bartok s Influence in the Modern Period Moving out of the Classical (1750 1820) and
Romantic (1820 1890) period came to be the Modern period, which took place from 1890 1950. This
period allowed for upcoming artists in this era to collaborate different styles from the Classical and
Romantic period, as seen in the patterns of the composers pieces. The Modern Period has many
influential artists that have been respected through history. Taking a close analysis at Igor Stravinsky,
1882 1971 (Yudkin, 202), and Bela Bartok, 1881 1945 (Yudkin, 215), by assessing their life and music
gives a deeper meaning of what it meant to live through the Modern time frame. During the life of
both of these composers the world went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the age of nine, Stravinsky started practicing Piano (Siohan, 13). Igor began being introduced to the
music scene around the age nine; he was finally allowed to attend his parents music parties (Siohan
13). When his father starred in Glinka s Ruslan and Ludmila, young Igor visits the set behind stage
(Siohan, 14). Igor is in awe of Glinka s light transparent orchestration which is vivid through the
texture of his sound (Siohan 14). Stravinsky went through studying law, not letting it get in the way of
his main focus music; he graduated in 1905 then married his cousin Catherine Nossenko (Siohan, 20).
Igor, enjoyed wrestling with mysterious of counterpoint (Siohoan 15), which explains why he created
such a bond with his teacher Rimsky Korsakov. He later established many other compositions with
and without Rimsky korsakov such as The Rite of Spring and Symphony B flat minor (opus I), 1907
(Siohan, 20). Bela Bartok was born in 1881, in Hungary (Yudkin, 215). Bartok growing up in the same
time period as Stravinsky took a very similar approach to his compositions. His work grew out of the
nationalist movement of the second half of the 19th century (Yudkin 215), this is visible in Bartok s
work. His work is mixed with a flow of contemporary styles. Bela Bartok had three careers, the first
two support the third heavily and give the shapely manor to his

The Positive Effects Of The Black Death
Everything gets worse before it gets better. A bruise turns into a gaudy green pigment before it fully
heals; a rainstorm sends hail falling from the sky, impaling anything it sees, right before a beautiful
rainbow appears; the red fleshed pimple on one s face continues to grow bigger and bigger until it
spontaneously disappears. A catastrophe can lead to success and hope, much like the Black Death
leads to the Renaissance. The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics that resulted in
one third of europe s population to die. Despite all the death and evil the Black Death brought, it has a
good outcome The Renaissance. The Black Death was the catalyst of the European Renaissance
because of the effects it had on the European economy, artistic expression, and technological
advances. The Black Death affected the European economy in a positive way. The biggest change,
good for peasants, was the end of Feudalism. Feudalism is a social triangle that decided who obeyed
who and many other unfair standards for all Serfs, the base of the pyramid. Due to the huge population
deficit, Serfs were scarce and Barons were now willing to pay higher wages and offer extra benefits.
All their life they had lived off the serfs hard work, and were willing to pay them to stay on the manor
to continue slaving for them (Vunguyen). This gave the Serfs more power to ask for higher wages and
the freedom to find more work if they do not get what they want. Serfs, or peasants, began

On December 10th, I went to see A Christmas Story at Great Theatre. This show is about Ralphie
Parker a nine year old boy who wanted a Red Ryder Carbine Action Gun. His mother among others
warned him that he d shoot his eye out. He tried to behave well in hopes he will receive the BB gun,
however, matters go awry, he takes part in a fight, utters some unfavorable choice words, and his
friend s tongue gets stuck to a metal pole. Ralphie thinks he will never receive his desired present but
on Christmas day his dad pointed out one more present that contained the Red Ryder BB gun. In the
meantime Ralphie father has won major award a lamp of a woman s leg that he proudly shows off in

Reasons For The Age Of Exploration
The Age of Exploration, also known as the Age of Discovery lasted from the 15th century to the 17th
century. It was the Europeans exploration of expanding from the old world to the new world. The
discovery of the New World led to wealth, knowledge, and new trading routes. This made people think
more about the world and it developed modern science into what it is today.
Spices were used to help preserve food and not become spoil but it was very expensive and dangerous
to get. There was this land route that led from Europe to Asia called the Silk Road and this is where
traders had to travel in order to get the spices. However, it was dangerous and the European wanted to
find an alternative way that was safer and faster to get the spices from Asia with a new route.
(Nussbaumcom) The reason for the discovery of the new world was because of Christopher
Columbus, who is an Italian man that was working for the Spanish monarchy. Christopher Columbus
was sent on a voyage to look for an alternative for a shorter sea route that was able to reach China and
India rather than using the Portuguese s route around Africa. On Christopher Columbus voyage to the
new world, he landed on the island of San Salvador, which is the Bahamas today, because of curiosity,
Columbus then decides to explore the island of Hispaniola which is Haiti and the Dominican Republic
today. (Mitchell) Christopher Columbus became famous for his voyages and would lead three more

Goodman Brown Ignorance
In Nathaniel Hawthorn s Young Goodman brown we follow the Goodman on his journey from
inexperience to knowledge of good and evil in the world; it is through this new knowledge he
becomes a different man. We see him cross over many boundaries and he, throughout the story
becomes aware that the people he looks up to as good puritans, even those in his own family, are not
as they seems nor is his wife, because his wife has lied to him he loses his faith in God and his society,
and due to all of this it changes his perspective on life and he walks out of the forest a changed man.
We begin our journey with the Brown leaving his wife and entering the forest where he encounters the
old man who is a very knowledgeable figure, but also considered ... Show more content on

At the end of the story brown can t even come to believe that people by nature are capable of more
good over evil, but because they live fake lives they are incapable of good. It is then he crosses the
final threshold of optimist to pessimist because from this point on everyone is lying and his life
becomes unbearable. He even comes to think that evil is more powerful in the mortal world. Brown
becomes so gloomy and distrustful that he couldn t believe a good gesture from anyone and this
affects his relationship at church and with his wife. At church he wishes ill will on the minister When
the minister spoke from the pulpit, then did Goodman Brown turn pale, dreading, lest the roof should
thunder down upon the gray blasphemer and his hearers. (562) He can no longer look upon his wife or
even have dinner with her without being disappointed; with all of this on his plate Brown died he was
known for being the bitter, unhopeful, and negative man he had become. When his family knelt down
at prayer he, gazed sternly at his wife, muttered to himself, and turned away. . . . And when he died no
hopeful verse upon his tombstone; for his dying hour was gloom.

DPN Case Study
Management Management of DPN can be classified into two strategies: Etiopathogenetic treatments
which target the underlying causes to prevent any further nerve fiber damage and pharmacological
treatments to alleviate the painful symptoms of PDN and normalize physical and psychological
functioning.
Etiopathogenic treatment:
The glycemic control: several studies showed that intensive glycemic therapy can result in a
statistically insignificant reduction in the development of neuropathy. (Callaghan BC, et al 2012)
Support for a positive effect of intensive treatment comes from the United Kingdom Prospective

Although many studies suggest the similarity in the effectiveness of these agents, only Pregabalin and
duloxetine have approved for the treatment of neuropathic pain in diabetic patients by the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration (FDA), Health Canada, and the European Medicines Agency. (Pop Busui
Rodica, et al 2017)
Also, the tapentadol, which is a novel centrally acting opioid has regulatory approval in the U.S. and
Canada, but the evidence of its effectiveness in reducing neuropathic pain is weaker (Finnerup NB, et
al 2015). Therefore, due to the high risk for addiction and safety concerns vs the relatively modest
pain reduction, the use of tapentadol extended release is not suggested as first or second line drug.
(Pop Busui Rodica, et al 2017)
In the United Kingdom, NICE clinical guidelines recommend duloxetine as the first line treatment for
patients with DPN. If contra indicated, this drug may be replaced with amitriptyline. Second line
treatment consists of amitriptyline or pregabalin. The latter agent may be used alone or in combination
with either amitriptyline or duloxetine. If

Francisco De Goya Research Papers
Francisco de Goya y Lucientes was conceived on March 30, 1746, in Fuendetodos, a town in northern
Spain. The child of a guilder, Goya spent the vast majority of his childhood in Saragossa. There he
started considering painting around the age of fourteen. He was an understudy of José Luzán
Martínez. At to begin with, Goya learned by impersonation. He duplicated the works of incredible
experts, discovering motivation in progress of such craftsmen as Diego Rodríguez de Silva y
Velázquez and Rembrandt van Rijn.
Later, Goya moved to Madrid, where he went to work with siblings Francisco and Ramón Bayeu y

At some time between late 1792 and early 1793, a serious illness, whose exact nature is not known,
left Goya deaf, and he became withdrawn. During his recuperation, he undertook a series of
experimental paintings. His experimental art that would encompass paintings, drawings as well as a
bitter series of aquatinted etchings, published in 1799 under the title Caprichos. French forces invaded
Spain in 1808, leading to the Peninsular. Goya s involvement with the court of Joseph I, the brother of
Napoleon Bonaparte, is not known: he did paint works for French patrons, but upon the restoration of
the Spanish king, Ferdinand VII, in 1814, Goya denied any involvement with the intruder. In 1819,
with the idea of isolating himself, he bought a country house by the Manzanares river just outside of
Madrid. It was known as the Quinta del titled after the previous owner and not after Goya himself.
There he created the Black Paintings with intense, haunting themes, reflective of the artist s fear of
insanity, and his outlook on humanity. Several of these, including Saturn Devouring His Son, were
painted directly onto the walls of his dining and sitting rooms. Goya left Spain in May 1824 for

The Birth Evolution Of Trinidad Carnival
Beginning in the late 1700s, the festival known as Carnival was introduced to various parts of the
world as a public celebration or parade that involved the use of masks, musical elements, costumes
and more. Dating back to the 18th century, the Trinidad Carnival was introduced around the time of
the arrival of the French Catholic planters from the French West Indies. The festival originated in the
early 1780s when both white and colored people staged masquerade balls at Christmas time for
entertainment. From there, it developed into playful taunting between the two groups and eventually
the tradition evolved to mark the approaching Catholic Lenten season. Unable to participate, the West
African slaves of the planters held their own masked festivals, focused around the burning and reaping
of the sugar cane. For all groups, mockery and veneer played a great role in the custom ( Birth
Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). Following the slave emancipation in 1838, Canboulay was viewed as
a symbol of independence and defiance. Over time this converged with stickfighting, chanting, and
drumming, and the rituals of Canboulay became something of a masquerade. After great conflict with
the British colonial government, who were insistent on banning drumming, masquerade, and the steel
pan the festival was eventually adopted as a symbol of Trinidadian culture during the independence
movement ( The Birth Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). A great deal of the musical aspect of

Eu vs Nafta
Abstract
The paper addresses important concerns of the European Union and the NAFTA, NAFTA s functional
structure. A brief introduction if NAFTA and EU confront one another.
Executive Summary
Some would doubt that the formation of NAFTA was the American response to the European Single
Act that formed the EU, which is made up of 27 countries. There is nothing to gain for both the blocs.
However in some areas, peaceful co existence and some form of stricter ties between the EU and
NAFTA would prove to be beneficial for both.
Introduction
The NAFTA and the European Union comprising of 27 countries comprise the biggest blocs in the
world. The two trade blocs are also highly interdependent through foreign direct investment. In 2007,

The Euro was approved for equity and debt trading, bank transactions, business to business and
payments by cheque. The euro transformed Europe (Warner, 1998) from a jigsaw of costly protected
markets into a vigorously competitive economic bloc, thereby enhancing international trade in the area
.
The NAFTA: A Regional agreement without institutions
NAFTA represents a market of 379 million people with $6.5 trillion in production. The drive behind
NAFTA was the establishment of a free trade area. Despite being a trilateral, it aimed at increasing
international trade through the elimination of trade barriers. NAFTA could become more competitive
in the world economy.
The primary purpose of NAFTA is to assist the North American region in becoming more
economically competitive with the rest of the world. It consists of US, Canada and Mexico. They set
the rules regarding trade, investment and the provision of services. Despite the fact that free trade
provides benefits, removing a trade barrier could cause damages to the shareholders and employees of
the industry. The groups that get affected by foreign competition use politics to get protection from
imports.
E.g. According to the U.S. International Trade Commission, US gaining from removing trade
restrictions on textiles and apparel would have been nearly $12 billion in 2002.
The EU has become more economically integrated by becoming a common market. This removes
barriers to production, like capital and labor.

Evolution Of The Common Cold
Introduction The history of mankind is intricately woven with the planet we live on, but is perhaps
even more dependent upon micro organisms. While people often think that micro organisms are scary
and cause sickness, there are several of these beneficial organisms that are more common than the
common cold. Saccharomycetes Cerevisiae is one of these organisms and has been in use by humans
for millennia. The evolution of this micro organic life form has been highly guided by the hand of
humanity to suite several specific purposes that our species has, and still does, use this yeast for.
History and Uses of Saccharomycetes Cerevisiae While it is still relatively speculative when human
kind first began its interactions with S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cerevisiae has undergone genetic modification to do some pretty wild things. Morphine, codeine,
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and other cannabinoids can now be synthesized from precursor
chemicals using GMO S. Cerevisiae. THC and other cannabinoids can be produced by engineered
yeasts, which have the same functions and chemistry as those from the plant, but are FDA approved
for medical uses, while the plant itself is not (Khamsi, 2015).
Engineered s. cerevisiae with a reconstituted 7 gene pathway is feasible for the synthesis and
production of codeine and morphine from (R) reticuline (Fossati, et.al, 2015). S. cerevisiae cells fed
(R) reticuline, salutaridine or codeine as substrates showed that all enzymes were functionally co
expressed in yeast and that activity of salutaridine reductase and codeine O demethylase likely limit
flux to morphine synthesis (Fossati, et.al, 2015). This study describes a significant advance for S.
cerevisiae and paves the way for complete synthesis of substances not naturally produced by
microbes. Morphine alkaloids are narcotic analgesics and the most powerful naturally produced
alkaloids used to treat severe and chronic pain.
Capturing and Propagating Yeast In order to study the evolution of yeasts, they must be captured and
propagated. The process for doing so is rather simple; a juice or slightly sweetened drink, such as a
tea, is left open to the air with a loose filter, such as cheesecloth, for a day or two. Once signs of

Sino Canadian energy cooperation has increased since last decade. Enbridge Inc., the Canada s second

market after the current financial crisis, let us see Russia s case before make a decision. II. Russia
Case Study In energy trade field, Russia, as one of largest energy producers and exporters, has very
similar situation with Canada in energy exports. Both countries are rich in energy resources and
energy exports share significant part of their economic growth. Canada has largest stable and largest
energy consumer U.S. while Russia has the second largest energy market European countries. Before
global financial crisis happened, energy trade is one of the main reasons driving their economy
growth. Russia s energy security depends largely on the global demand and international energy
market price. Thus, Russian energy security is vulnerable to market forces and benefits from economic
stability, particularly that of the European countries, with whom Russia conducts the majority of its
energy trade. Let us see the history trend of Russia s energy trade during the financial crisis. Russia is
the second largest oil producer and exporter, and the first largest natural gas exporter , while China is
the third largest oil consumer in the world . However, Russia does not like to do the energy trade with
China. Free market does not work well in explaining Russia case. There is only one Russia s pipeline

Moxey And Cosgrove Analysis
Within his book Visual Time, which offers an unorthodox approach to the study of art history, Moxey
writes: The history of art faces the disconcerting possibility that the time it imagines, history s very
architecture, is neither uniform nor linear but rather multivalent and discontinuous (Moxey 1) . Indeed,
though time within the practice of art history may in actuality be anachronic, or without a distinct
order, it is not regarded as so at Wellesley s Davis Museum; here, the architecture of time is as linear
as the physical architecture of the museum s modern exterior. The physical and representational
mapping of the Davis use of chronological time is especially present by floor layout. The permanent
collections are on the second, fourth, and fifth levels. Segmented by geography, which both Moxey
and Cosgrove discuss, the second floor s collection of art and artifacts dates as far back as 2000 BCE
and encompasses six of the world s seven continents. It is important to note that the stairs are set at the
heart of the museum, allowing museum goers to approach a floor s collection from four different
starting points. Though probably not intentional, this somewhat equalizes the collections featured on
the second floor. Each geographic location are quartered off into makeshift galleries with the two

Persian Architecture Essay
Comparing and Analyzing the Architecture in Ancient India and Persia In ancient civilizations,
architecture was fundamental to revealing certain aspects of a culture, such as its leaders and their
communication with the citizens. Rulers that controlled society utilized temples and buildings to
express their power and communicate with their subjects. Cultures were able to express their abilities
through architecture, along with their beliefs and the functionality of their society. Architecture
allowed cultures to leave behind physical evidence of their existence and further display their
ideologies, capabilities, and accomplishments. The exploration of architecture in ancient Persia and
India reveals many correlations between the two cultures. Ancient Persian architecture displayed the
Persians liberal policy, in incorporating diverse cultures, and their intricate designs, most of which,
relating to royalty. Meanwhile, ancient Indian architecture exhibited close resemblance to Persian
architecture, and the Indians also used their building as an expression of royalty and the power that the
ruler held.
The Persians borrowed from other conquered cultures because they lacked strong artistic traditions.
Persian architecture was known to include echoes of Egyptian temple Gates and hypostyle halls,
Hittite audience chambers, and Mesopotamian sculpted animal motifs ( Fazio ). The application of
outside cultural influences to Persian architecture signified that Persian architects

Paul Laurence Dunbar We Wear The Mask Summary
A typical problem that has plagued human beings since the beginning of time. Emotions that flutter in
all directions, and consume our inner conscious. What is the typical way of dealing with the problems
that we face? Typically, we mask our emotions. Put them aside to rot in our mind, and eat away at our
own self. As human beings it is the norm. The normal way of dealing with our problems is to not pay
attention to them Stowing them away so we can go out into the real world. Inevitably leaving your
own being to face the problems in a time of loneliness. Waving the white flag: indulging yourself in a
conflict that is hard to face. Feelings of sadness and depression can way heavy on one. Laying a path

Compared to one another, they both get across the point of masking your emotions. Hiding the
feelings, you have on the inside, and broadcasting them positively on the outside. You may feel
sadness, and guilt on the inside, but on the outer layer; you smile, laugh, and enjoy life. Though
Robinson s poem ends in suicide. We can still interpret the theme of masking your emotions. They
both have underlying tones to their stories. Dunbar s is targeting the African American community,
while we get the interpretation that Robinson is speaking of society as a whole. Allowing us to

though they build up their poems in a different way. Dunbar is a mellow tone, and tone of constant
sadness, while Robinson voices happy words, with a dramatic climax. They both hit the point by
building on it in two distinctive ways. Tales that connect with natural human feelings, and well written

The Use Of Satire In The Canterbury Tales
What is satire? Is satire a Greek mythological beast, half man, half goat that thrives on trickery and
deceit. Is Satire just another boring part of literature? No, although satire is a part of literature, it most
definitely is not boring. It can be used where other forms of literature cannot. Dictionary.com defines
satire as the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or
vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. For example, in the
time of Chaucer there was uniformity in the church. Chaucer couldn t just come out and call friars and
pardoners out for their crimes. He would be made an outcast by his church just like Martin Luther.

she is trying to be. He also notes that when she would see a mouse die from a trap she would cry. Yet
she had no problem feeding her dogs meat so it kind of makes her hypocritical. He never clearly says
he thinks she is ridiculous because he uses satire to say it without saying it. She is described as having
an elegant nose glass grey eyes, small mouthed, and a big forehead. If just described the prioress

Charles Mingus Essay

Jazz 219
Charles Mingus Charles Mingus is a very important and influential name in jazz; however he is left
out by many historians when talking about the history of jazz. The main reason he is left out by so
many historians, Mark Gridley in particular, is because of his attitude and ego. He is clearly not the
most pleasant person, and he surely does not display how a real jazz musician should act, at least
according to most historians. The way he acts during performances can be quite startling at first, if you
are not familiar with his ways and methods of playing. For example, he was known for using profanity
during performances, either geared at the audience if they were being too loud or the sound operators

Another chapter I would also include him in would be Chapter 5, How Swing Differs from Early Jazz
. I would include Mingus in this chapter as well because it talks so much of his most influential Jazz
artist, and at one point fellow band mate, Duke Ellington. I feel like Mingus truly does have enough
variance in his music to help point out and draw the fine line between early jazz and the newer swing
jazz. The main differences between these two categories of jazz are that in early jazz, you were a lot
less likely to have the big band feel to the music, and soloist played a more important role in early
jazz, whereas in the swing era, you were introduced to more of a variety of instruments as well as new
techniques on how to play them. Mingus puts out good examples and songs/performances that clearly
display how things transitioned from early Jazz to swing, and then onto other evolutions of jazz as
well. After learning and hearing many of Charles Mingus s music, I definitely feel it is unfair for any
historian to leave him out of an in depth jazz history book. I hope jazz book writers to come take note
of Mingus s accomplishments, and start to include him in the history books right up there with Duke
Ellington, Miles Davis, and Louis Armstrong. It is only fair to him and his fellow band mates,

Cecil The Lion Peter Singer Analysis
Remember Cecil the Lion? A lot of people were shocked, even outraged, when they heard about his
death at the hands of an American hunter in 2015. The response to the lion s death was so strong that
the guy who shot Cecil basically went into hiding until he issued an apology. Our society reacts with
horror when we hear about a majestic lion being shot or sacks of kittens being tossed into rivers, or
owners training their dogs to fight each other for sport. However, what is the difference between
killings Cecil and killing a duck, deer, cow, pig, or a chicken? How do we reconcile the strong feelings
many of us have about certain animals, mainly the cute ones like kittens and puppies, with the way we
actual use animals in our own lives?
Most of us think nothing about using non human animals for their meat, milk, or skins and not only do
we use animals in these ways, but using them as we do almost always harms them. A common method
for testing cosmetics, for example, involves restraining rabbits and putting the product into their eyes,
leaving it for a set amount of time and then washing it out and checking for adverse reactions. ... Show

While reading Mary Pipher s, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls and Dan
Kindlon and Michael Thompson s, Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys, I got a better
understanding of the mindsets of teenagers in todays society. I learned that countless girls and boys
have the same inner battles and do not even realize it. The two songs I chose that best represent ideas
of woman and manhood are Unpretty, by TLC and Stan, by Eminem. I believe these songs support
many of the stereotypes portrayed in both of the class readings and hold strong messages that can
impact the views of girls and boys alike. They address many struggles that teenagers today may be
going through but afraid of speaking about openly.
In Reviving Ophelia, Pipher takes us into the minds of teenage girls and evaluates the ordinary
troubles they encounter. She explains how girls tend to let the opinions of others influence their
interests and appearance. They visualize how others perceive them and based on this, they form a self
perception. This perception can either be a positive or negative one. Generally if a girl establishes a
negative self perception, they have an urge to alter whom they are to gain approval. They crave
acceptance from others so much that they usually through great lengths to get it. The problem is that
many girls don t accept themselves for whom they are and Unpretty speaks to those girls in particular.

The Stereotypes Of Reality Television
What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into
celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it
on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of
relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared
and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes
people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is
women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture,
the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television
enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes
women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic,
catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is
demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ).
These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making
their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television
and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality

The Journey Of My Spiritual Development
It was at a very young age that I knew there was something very different about me. I could never put

me. In almost ever setting or place. I have always felt there was something going on internally that I
could not explain, but it is as if I knew from the time I could see and hear that I was not alone in this
journey called life. And in reflection, I see that God was certainly always there watching patiently
every step of the way. The power of God sovereignty observing each growth spirit, failure and
experience day after day during every passing moment brought about physical and spiritual of
transformation. One of the cornerstones in my spiritual development started when I was age eight. At

One day an older African American woman showed up at the facility towards the end of the day. I

seconds they would turn around and look in the direction where I was standing. I knew in my heart
they were talking about me, but I could make out what they were talking about. One thing was for

The Goal Of The Accounting And Audit Professions Essay
The goal of the accounting and audit professions is to provide statements and information on behalf of
a firm that are reliable and relevant to users. In order to accomplish this goal, the accounting and audit
professions have continuously evolved in order to meet the needs of said users. In this new age of
accounting, we feel the need for accountants and auditors to further modify their methodology and
process. With the focus of accounting and auditing staying the same, we in the profession must be sure
to strive to produce valuable information to the end users. First we will discuss the importance of
intangibles and their value to a company. This value is being under disclosed using traditional
accounting methods, and therefore the accounting profession must be modified in order to properly
value intangibles when presenting users with the finished financial statements. Secondly, this paper
will divulge into how the effects of corporate disclosures through new media may inadvertently force
auditing profession to adapt accordingly. Due to corporations having the ability to disclose earnings
using new media, the users of this information need to be able to recognize that it is trustworthy.
Lastly, the idea of new emerging technologies causing the auditing profession to change will be
discussed. While companies have yet to adapt the mainstream use of computer systems, the future of
bookkeeping will most likely be done entirely by computer systems, thereby rendering the

The Pathophysiology of Acute Renal Failure Essay
Explain the pathophysiology of acute renal failure. Include pre renal, intrarenal and postrenal causes.
Acute renal failure is a sudden decrease of kidney function often characterized by the loss of
homeostatic equilibrium of the internal medium causing waste accumulation in the blood. Aside from
accumulation of waste products like nitrogen and urea, it is also characterized by a sudden decrease of
glomerular filtration rate (GFR) which disables the kidney from filtering waste products that is
harmful to the body. Evidently, acute renal failure disables the kidney from maintaining fluid and
electrolyte balance. As stated by kidneyatlas.org, causes for acute renal failure are classified into three:
prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discuss, compare, and contrast the 3 stages. Diagnosing acute renal failure starts off by obtaining the
patient s history, physical examination, and blood and urine studies. The information obtained will
serve as a stepping stone for treating the different stages of acute renal failure. According to the
American Academy of Family Physicians, in pre renal acute renal failure the parenchyma is
undamaged, and the kidneys respond as if volume depletion has occurred . The exams for diagnosing
the pre renal acute renal failure mainly focuses on urine and blood studies because of diminish renal
blood flow. While pre renal focuses more on the urine and blood studies, the damage for intrarenal
acute renal failure (ARF) is evident in the parenchyma. Diagnostic exam for intrarenal ARF and post
renal mostly focuses on biopsy to determine the exact cause of the disorder. However, the downside of
using biopsy as a diagnosis mechanism is that bleeding can occur which adds to further complications.
What are the subjective and objective signs and symptoms of acute renal failure. In this answer,
discuss the following terms: asthenia, azotemia, uremia, oliguria, and anuria. Renal failure are
categorized into three stages: acute renal failure, chronic renal failure, and end stage renal failure. In
acute renal failure, the signs and symptoms are categorized into subjective and objective. As described

How Great Of An Honor Is It At Host An Event Such As The...
How great of an honor is it to host an event such as the Olympics? According to Stefan Szymanski,
the hosting of major sporting events has become the subject of intense competition among nations.
Governments will make large financial commitments in order to win the bidding competition. The
regression of big time sporting events have changed immensely, from firstly being about showing who
the best athlete was, to now a way of nations being able to bring fame and possible fortunes to their
doors for just hosting such huge events. 2000 2015 has been a time span where the conversation about
the Olympics, it s events, and it s policies have changed.
The Olympic games originated in ancient Greece, about 3,000 years ago (8th century B.C. to 4th
century A.D.) (A+E Networks, 2015). The games took place in Olympia located in the western
Peloponnese peninsula. At first the Olympic games were used as a religious festival in honor of the
ruler of gods, Zeus. After many years the Olympic games were re introduced in the 19th century,
which was done to bring countries back together as one and participate in this world wide competition
of olympians. The games as a whole have changed the way of how people see the athletes. In the
beginning of it all, the athletes competed for their religious believes, now the race to be the best is at
its highest, with the 28 sports to participate in. According to the author, the number of professional has

Research Aim
The primary aim of the research is to assess the impact of product placement on the sales of a product
and determine whether there would be any improvement or decrement in sales as a result of switching
shelf space.
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research are to assess if a product placed in one position on the shelves is better
than it being placed in another position and to see if it is better to place the product with any other
items which can be thought to help improve the sales. Also, another objective of the research is to
understand whether data analysis can be used to improve the shelf management and whether the
inferences from such data analysis for a number of stores in a single supermarket can be characterized
to be standard across the board or whether the output of such analysis should only be used in a
particular store from which data was collected.
Research Questions
This research will concentrate the efforts on answering the below questions:
1. How does shelf management affect the sales of the product? Whether the sales of a product which
was already selling well, decrease because of a shift in the shelf space? Or does the sales of a product
which was not selling before improve because of a change in the shelf space?

sexual relations with various men. She has the looks and the class of the white individuals however
where it counts she is similarly as savage as her mom seemed to be, making her an extraordinary

Girl, Linda Brent, relates of when she was 15 and her slave ace used to assault her. My lord met me

  • 2. Stravinsky And Bartok s Influence On The Modern Period Stravinsky and Bartok s Influence in the Modern Period Moving out of the Classical (1750 1820) and Romantic (1820 1890) period came to be the Modern period, which took place from 1890 1950. This period allowed for upcoming artists in this era to collaborate different styles from the Classical and Romantic period, as seen in the patterns of the composers pieces. The Modern Period has many influential artists that have been respected through history. Taking a close analysis at Igor Stravinsky, 1882 1971 (Yudkin, 202), and Bela Bartok, 1881 1945 (Yudkin, 215), by assessing their life and music gives a deeper meaning of what it meant to live through the Modern time frame. Stravinsky went through studying law, not letting it get in the way of his main focus music; he graduated in 1905 then married his cousin Catherine Nossenko (Siohan, 20). Igor, enjoyed wrestling with mysterious of counterpoint (Siohoan 15), which explains why he created such a bond with his teacher Rimsky Korsakov. He later established many other compositions with and without Rimsky korsakov such as The Rite of Spring and Symphony B flat minor (opus I), 1907 (Siohan, 20). A bruise turns into a gaudy green pigment before it fully heals; a rainstorm sends hail falling from the sky, impaling anything it sees, right before a beautiful rainbow appears; the red fleshed pimple on one s face continues to grow bigger and bigger until it spontaneously disappears. A catastrophe can lead to success and hope, much like the Black Death leads to the Renaissance. The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics that resulted in one third of europe s population to die. Despite all the death and evil the Black Death brought, it has a good outcome The Renaissance. The Black Death was the catalyst of the European Renaissance because of the effects it had on the European economy, artistic expression, and technological advances. The Black Death affected the European economy in a positive way. The biggest change, good for peasants, was the end of Feudalism. • 6. Reasons For The Age Of Exploration The Age of Exploration, also known as the Age of Discovery lasted from the 15th century to the 17th century. It was the Europeans exploration of expanding from the old world to the new world. The discovery of the New World led to wealth, knowledge, and new trading routes. This made people think more about the world and it developed modern science into what it is today. Spices were used to help preserve food and not become spoil but it was very expensive and dangerous to get. There was this land route that led from Europe to Asia called the Silk Road and this is where traders had to travel in order to get the spices. However, it was dangerous and the European wanted to find an alternative way that was safer and faster to get the spices from Asia with a new route. (Nussbaumcom) The reason for the discovery of the new world was because of Christopher Columbus, who is an Italian man that was working for the Spanish monarchy. Christopher Columbus was sent on a voyage to look for an alternative for a shorter sea route that was able to reach China and India rather than using the Portuguese s route around Africa. On Christopher Columbus voyage to the new world, he landed on the island of San Salvador, which is the Bahamas today, because of curiosity, Columbus then decides to explore the island of Hispaniola which is Haiti and the Dominican Republic today. • 14. The Birth Evolution Of Trinidad Carnival Beginning in the late 1700s, the festival known as Carnival was introduced to various parts of the world as a public celebration or parade that involved the use of masks, musical elements, costumes and more. Dating back to the 18th century, the Trinidad Carnival was introduced around the time of the arrival of the French Catholic planters from the French West Indies. The festival originated in the early 1780s when both white and colored people staged masquerade balls at Christmas time for entertainment. From there, it developed into playful taunting between the two groups and eventually the tradition evolved to mark the approaching Catholic Lenten season. Unable to participate, the West African slaves of the planters held their own masked festivals, focused around the burning and reaping of the sugar cane. For all groups, mockery and veneer played a great role in the custom ( Birth Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). Following the slave emancipation in 1838, Canboulay was viewed as a symbol of independence and defiance. Over time this converged with stickfighting, chanting, and drumming, and the rituals of Canboulay became something of a masquerade. After great conflict with the British colonial government, who were insistent on banning drumming, masquerade, and the steel pan the festival was eventually adopted as a symbol of Trinidadian culture during the independence movement ( The Birth Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). The drive behind NAFTA was the establishment of a free trade area. Despite being a trilateral, it aimed at increasing international trade through the elimination of trade barriers. Engineered s. cerevisiae with a reconstituted 7 gene pathway is feasible for the synthesis and production of codeine and morphine from (R) reticuline (Fossati, et.al, 2015). S. cerevisiae cells fed (R) reticuline, salutaridine or codeine as substrates showed that all enzymes were functionally co expressed in yeast and that activity of salutaridine reductase and codeine O demethylase likely limit flux to morphine synthesis (Fossati, et.al, 2015). Moxey And Cosgrove Analysis Within his book Visual Time, which offers an unorthodox approach to the study of art history, Moxey writes: The history of art faces the disconcerting possibility that the time it imagines, history s very architecture, is neither uniform nor linear but rather multivalent and discontinuous (Moxey 1) . Indeed, though time within the practice of art history may in actuality be anachronic, or without a distinct order, it is not regarded as so at Wellesley s Davis Museum; here, the architecture of time is as linear as the physical architecture of the museum s modern exterior. The physical and representational mapping of the Davis use of chronological time is especially present by floor layout. The permanent collections are on the second, fourth, and fifth levels. Segmented by geography, which both Moxey and Cosgrove discuss, the second floor s collection of art and artifacts dates as far back as 2000 BCE and encompasses six of the world s seven continents. It is important to note that the stairs are set at the heart of the museum, allowing museum goers to approach a floor s collection from four different starting points. • 21. Persian Architecture Essay Comparing and Analyzing the Architecture in Ancient India and Persia In ancient civilizations, architecture was fundamental to revealing certain aspects of a culture, such as its leaders and their communication with the citizens. Rulers that controlled society utilized temples and buildings to express their power and communicate with their subjects. Cultures were able to express their abilities through architecture, along with their beliefs and the functionality of their society. Architecture allowed cultures to leave behind physical evidence of their existence and further display their ideologies, capabilities, and accomplishments. The exploration of architecture in ancient Persia and India reveals many correlations between the two cultures. Ancient Persian architecture displayed the Persians liberal policy, in incorporating diverse cultures, and their intricate designs, most of which, relating to royalty. Meanwhile, ancient Indian architecture exhibited close resemblance to Persian architecture, and the Indians also used their building as an expression of royalty and the power that the ruler held. The Persians borrowed from other conquered cultures because they lacked strong artistic traditions. Jazz 219 Charles Mingus Charles Mingus is a very important and influential name in jazz; however he is left out by many historians when talking about the history of jazz. The main reason he is left out by so many historians, Mark Gridley in particular, is because of his attitude and ego. He is clearly not the most pleasant person, and he surely does not display how a real jazz musician should act, at least according to most historians. The way he acts during performances can be quite startling at first, if you are not familiar with his ways and methods of playing. For example, he was known for using profanity during performances, either geared at the audience if they were being too loud or the sound operators if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another chapter I would also include him in would be Chapter 5, How Swing Differs from Early Jazz . I would include Mingus in this chapter as well because it talks so much of his most influential Jazz artist, and at one point fellow band mate, Duke Ellington. I feel like Mingus truly does have enough variance in his music to help point out and draw the fine line between early jazz and the newer swing jazz. The main differences between these two categories of jazz are that in early jazz, you were a lot less likely to have the big band feel to the music, and soloist played a more important role in early jazz, whereas in the swing era, you were introduced to more of a variety of instruments as well as new techniques on how to play them. Mingus puts out good examples and songs/performances that clearly display how things transitioned from early Jazz to swing, and then onto other evolutions of jazz as well. After learning and hearing many of Charles Mingus s music, I definitely feel it is unfair for any historian to leave him out of an in depth jazz history book. I hope jazz book writers to come take note of Mingus s accomplishments, and start to include him in the history books right up there with Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Louis Armstrong. It is only fair to him and his fellow band mates, however, only time will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Cecil The Lion Peter Singer Analysis Remember Cecil the Lion? A lot of people were shocked, even outraged, when they heard about his death at the hands of an American hunter in 2015. The response to the lion s death was so strong that the guy who shot Cecil basically went into hiding until he issued an apology. Our society reacts with horror when we hear about a majestic lion being shot or sacks of kittens being tossed into rivers, or owners training their dogs to fight each other for sport. However, what is the difference between killings Cecil and killing a duck, deer, cow, pig, or a chicken? How do we reconcile the strong feelings many of us have about certain animals, mainly the cute ones like kittens and puppies, with the way we actual use animals in our own lives? Most of us think nothing about using non human animals for their meat, milk, or skins and not only do we use animals in these ways, but using them as we do almost always harms them. A common method for testing cosmetics, for example, involves restraining rabbits and putting the product into their eyes, leaving it for a set amount of time and then washing it out and checking for adverse reactions. ... Singer reminds us that there was a time when most Americans thought it was totally normal and right for members of one group to literally own members of another group based on a morally irrelevant difference, skin color. Today, the members of the oppressing group look back on the reasoning of their ancestors with horror and shame. Singer predicts that there will be a time when our descendants look back on us and our treatment of non human animals with the same reaction. In a nutshell, Singer says, If it s not okay to do it to a human, then it s not okay to do it to an animal either. You might think that you agree with Singer, but do you really agree with ... Reviving Opheli Saving The Selves Of Adolescent Girls While reading Mary Pipher s, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls and Dan Kindlon and Michael Thompson s, Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys, I got a better understanding of the mindsets of teenagers in todays society. I learned that countless girls and boys have the same inner battles and do not even realize it. The two songs I chose that best represent ideas of woman and manhood are Unpretty, by TLC and Stan, by Eminem. I believe these songs support many of the stereotypes portrayed in both of the class readings and hold strong messages that can impact the views of girls and boys alike. They address many struggles that teenagers today may be going through but afraid of speaking about openly. In Reviving Ophelia, Pipher takes us into the minds of teenage girls and evaluates the ordinary troubles they encounter. She explains how girls tend to let the opinions of others influence their interests and appearance. They visualize how others perceive them and based on this, they form a self perception. This perception can either be a positive or negative one. Generally if a girl establishes a negative self perception, they have an urge to alter whom they are to gain approval. They crave acceptance from others so much that they usually through great lengths to get it. The problem is that many girls don t accept themselves for whom they are and Unpretty speaks to those girls in particular. The song is by the popular 90 s R B group ... The Stereotypes Of Reality Television What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture, the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic, catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ). These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality ... I could never put my finger on it, but I always felt like something inside made me different from everyone else around me. In almost ever setting or place. I have always felt there was something going on internally that I could not explain, but it is as if I knew from the time I could see and hear that I was not alone in this journey called life. And in reflection, I see that God was certainly always there watching patiently every step of the way. The power of God sovereignty observing each growth spirit, failure and experience day after day during every passing moment brought about physical and spiritual of transformation. One of the cornerstones in my spiritual development started when I was age eight. At the time I was living in an orphanage in Grand Rapids Michigan because my father had died suddenly at age 38 and my mother was in a rehabilitation center recovering from a serious heroin addiction. One day an older African American woman showed up at the facility towards the end of the day. I could see her talking with one of the caretakers at the facility. They kept talking and every few seconds they would turn around and look in the direction where I was standing. I knew in my heart they were talking about me, but I could make out what they were talking about. One thing was for sure, I hated living with the 30 other orphaned boys in a barracks type setting like something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Acute renal failure is a sudden decrease of kidney function often characterized by the loss of homeostatic equilibrium of the internal medium causing waste accumulation in the blood. Aside from accumulation of waste products like nitrogen and urea, it is also characterized by a sudden decrease of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) which disables the kidney from filtering waste products that is harmful to the body.
