Net Neutrality Between The Federal Communication...
Imagine getting online, only to find out that you can t access your favorite website. It could be
Instagram, Tumblr, or even Youtube, a website for uploading videos. After getting off the phone with
your internet provider, they tell you that you need to pay to access your favorite website. Internet
providers want it to be set up that way. Their has been an ongoing debate about net neutrality between
the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and internet providers. Net neutrality is fighting again
internet providers blocking content.
Internet
It is important to know the history of the internet. The internet is a worldwide network of computer
systems that are connected to each other by cables (Howe, 2012). The internet first started out as a
military experiment. In 1957, the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) was created by the
United States department of Defense (Computer History Museum, 2004). The project was started after
the Russians launched a satellite into space for communication reasons. The satellite was called
SPUTNIK (Computer History Museum, 2004). It was rumored that President Eisenhower got worried
and decided to get the United States to launch its own satellite. They recruited Dr. Joseph C. Licklider
of MIT, was made head of the Information Processing Techniques Office (IPTO)(Computer History
Museum, 2004). Their purpose of the project was to focus on improving the military use of computer
information.

his statement, he admits that No respect was shown... Indeed no respect was shown. Separating
families for the desire of money may be looked at as corrupt. No shame was brought to those
capturing and destroying family bonds. Instead, the ones in shame were the ones in captive. Going
further into the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Separation of family continued. A young boy by the name
of Frederick Douglass did not have the constant love and warmth of a mother throughout his
developing life. At the time, captive African were now slaves. Slaves were expected to work hard and
long hours each day or physical punishments may happen. Due to Douglas s mother being sold away

The Lord Of Flies And Lord Of The Flies
Death surrounds regions, and it is sometimes essential to make a difference. In the novel The Lord of
the Flies a group of boys are evacuated from England during WWII but their plane crashes on a
tropical island. In the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Pompey has been defeated which leaves
Julius Caesar as the leader of Rome. In the novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding and in the
play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is needed to influence change. Revolutions
occur when the individual in charge obtains too much power. In The Lord of the Flies there are no
adults on the island so there is nobody that appears to be a figure of authority. Ralph is selected as
chief because of his appearance being that he is older and a fair boy. Jack believes that he should be
chief being that he was the leader of the choir prior to the crash. The older boys and the choir organize
a separate group from Ralph, Piggy, Simon, and the littluns (smaller kids). The main objective for
these boys is to have dominance over the island. This group of boys obtain power by having a
different mentality from the others. Jack tells Roger For hunting. Like in war. You know dazzle paint.
Like things trying to like something else on page 63. This quote shows that Jack s group wants to set
themselves apart from the other boys on the island by changing their appearance and mentality. In The
Tragedy of Julius Caesar the fall of Pompey gives power to Julius Caesar. Men of Rome fear

Concert Observation
I enjoyed a Dame Myra Hess Concert at the Chicago Cultural Center, held in the Preston Bradley
Hall. It featured Brannon Cho and Victor Asuncion as the performers on November 16th in the
afternoon. It showed a variety of compositions that kept me mesmerized throughout the show. The
instruments they played were the cello and the piano. I chose this concert because it was convenient,
location wise and it fitted well into my schedule. The only other concert I can relate it to was at
church, it was a visit by a choir from Moody Church.
Two of the compositions that attracted my attention were the seven variations on Bei Männern, welche
Liebe fühlen and Arpeggione Sonata, Allegro moderato. The performers were in sync almost perfectly
and had unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He completed several symphonies, operas and piano music. This composition was a Sonata form,
which was part of the four movements. This was also played with a small ensemble (duet)While a
more accurate term is also used to refer to the period from 1750 to 1820, this article is about the broad
span of time from roughly the 11th century to the present day, which includes the Classical period and
various other periods. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900,
which is known as the common practice period. The major time divisions of Western art music are as
follows: the early music period, which includes the Medieval and the Renaissance eras; the Common
practice period, which includes the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras ; and the 20th century
which includes the modern that overlaps from the late 19th¬century, the high modern, and
contemporary or postmodern eras. Another difference is that whereas most popular styles adopt the
song form, classical music has been noted for its development of highly sophisticated forms of
instrumental music such as the concerto, symphony, sonata, and mixed vocal and instrumental styles
such as opera which, since they are written down, can sustain larger forms and attain a high level of
complexity. The term classical music appeared during the 19th century, in an attempt to distinctly
canonize the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. The earliest reference
to classical music recorded by the

Cleaning A Car After It Has Had Body Work
Cleaning a car after it has had body work done and been buffed is not as simple as it sounds. There are
several steps to this process and each step requires materials a common household would not have.
The materials needed include several microfiber towels, glass cleaner, show shine, interior cleaner,
spray bottles, steel wool, vacuum cleaner with extendable hose, a water hose and/or a power washer,
car wax, and paint thinner. Making a car spick and span after it has been repaired is not necessarily a
complex process, but it does have several steps that a common person would not think about. The first
step to washing a vehicle is to check it over and make sure everything that was supposed to be fixed
is. The easy way to see which parts were replaced is to feel around the car and find the fresh paint.
Fresh paint feels much smoother than the paint on the original parts of the car. Finding the replaced
parts is important because around those parts are where the rubbing compound leftover from the
buffer and the overspray leftover from the painter will be located. Rubbing compound is what buffers
put on the car before they start buffing so that the buffer itself won t scratch the vehicle. When buffing
the white compound will often get lodged in the small crevices of car, like in the crack between the
headlight and car or the bumper and the back quarter panel. Overspray is a white and rough substance
left on the car from the painters. It can be easily seen on darker color cars,

Compensation Cases and Their Impact on China and Japan
History and the notion of compensation are two key aspects in the study of Sino Japanese relations.
During the 1980s, the opening up by the People s Republic of China s government about war atrocities
led a number of victims to seek reparations and apologies from Japan. Compensation cases were
brought forward from the 1990s and broke the silence about what had truly happened during the war.
Moreover, the rapid spread of new information about the past prompted increased tensions between
the two countries that had previously ignored the issue in order to privilege economic and diplomatic
cooperation. To date, the affiliation between China and Japan seems to have deteriorated significantly
and history is one of the main matters addressed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The VAWW NET (Violence Against Women in War Network Japan), Chinese War Victims Lawyer s
Research Committee (now Chinese War Victims Compensation Claim Group), Society to Support the
Demands of Chinese War Victims (Rose, 2005, p.77), etc. are all joint organizations fighting for the
rights of the victims and trying to force Japan into taking legal responsibility for its actions and it is
still a work in progress today.
The creation of these Sino Japanese groups emphasizes the fact that the problem of compensation was
just as important for both sides and signified that the history issue hadn t been dealt with properly. The
280 members of the Chinese War Victims Lawyers Research Committee were ready to defend Chinese
victims in their lawsuits against Unit 731, the Comfort Women System, forced labour, etc. among
many more. Their research played a significant role in providing evidence (Rose, 2005, p.76) that
undermined Japan s stance on lack of sufficient evidence in order to accept legal liability for their
actions (Tow, 2009 ). The involvement of academics and citizens were equally important as they too,
discovered compelling evidence incriminating Japan and organizations such as Suopei counting over
2000 members are still collecting funds, providing evidence and reporting on the compensation
movement in order to continue on their quest for justice and recognition (Rose, 2005, p.77). Numerous
symposia were held in order to discuss war reparations and

La Belle Dame Sans Meri
This paper will be a study on La Belle Dame Sans Meri. This painting is an oil sketch for Waterhouse
painting exhibit at the royal Academy in 1893 and now in the Hessisches Landes Museum, Darmstadt,
Germany. John William Waterhouse was a man of very many talents. He was able to apply a natural
setting. His art work is one of a kind and beautiful. He applies a combina favorite artists. The piece of
work that I will be discussing is La Belle Dame Sans Merci.
John William Waterhouse was born in Italy, 1849 within the city of Rome. According to history on
April sixth, Waterhouse was baptized. Though we know many aspects of John William Waterhouse,
we don t know his actual birthday. Waterhouse s parents were also artists, from which they came from
England. His parents helped John William Waterhouse become the amazing artist he was. During the
time of Waterhouse s birth the Industrial Revolution was happening. This led many other artists to act
out against other artists who painted a more realistic style. They did this by painting in a new, different
way by painting pure lines. This style came out during the classical period. Waterhouse has a style that
was unlike any other painter, which made him completely unique (Artable, com, 2016). John William
Waterhouse style of art work falls into a category called per Raphaelite. He gathered a lot of his style
of art from Impressionists. Waterhouse gathered much of his inspiration from Arthurian legends and

An Age Of Reform Swept
An age of reform swept through our nation due to the unfairness that was happening in our country.
Many people fought for change for themselves and for others that involved problems like alcohol and
humane treatment for the insane. The radicals did their best for what they thought was right and
changed our country for the better. There were costs and benefits to many movements, groups, and
radical individuals who sought change between 1840 and 1877. They created conflict, chaos, and
changes that played a part in making many reforms for their era. One such group that created a change
was the American Temperance Society which was found in 1826. The American Temperance Society
directed its efforts to redeeming not only habitual drunkards but also the occasional drinker (Foner
440). By the 1830s they believed that they had changed the minds of hundreds of thousands of
Americans to give up on alcohol. By 1840, the consumption of alcohol per person had fallen to less
than half the level of a decade earlier (Foner 440). The benefit of this change came with a cost, the
temperance crusade and other reform movements aroused considerable hostility (Foner 441). Horace
Mann who was a lawyer and a Whig politician was the leading education reformer for his era. Mann
hoped that universal public education could restore equality to a fractured society by bringing the
children of all classes together in a common learning experience and equipping the less fortunate to
advance in the social

The New Orleans Levee System
On August 29th of 2005, a category 3 hurricane, dubbed Hurricane Katrina, hit the Gulf Coast of the
United States. It brought winds of 100 to 140 miles per hour, and stretched more than 400 miles
across. New Orleans had its first mandatory evacuation ordered the day before, while listing the
Superdome as a shelter for those who couldn t leave town. More than 70 percent evacuated, while the
rest stayed at their homes, or took to shelters, to wait out the storm. The aftermath of Katrina was felt
in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, but New Orleans was affected the most by far. In the end,
more than 2000 were either seriously injured or killed, while those who survived were very short on
food, water, first aid, and had very few areas for shelter. A large reason the storm was so devastating
was the fact that the storm was able to cover almost 80 percent of the entire city under a large amount
of water. Before the storm hit, the city used levee systems and flood walls to protect itself from being
flooded. During the storm, however, many failures in the levee system caused close to 80 percent of
the flooding covering the city and the nearby parish. Many know that the levee system failed but few
in the public know that the major reason it had failed was because of the incomplete design. The

It is important for any engineer to understand what they are doing, and the consequences that can
occur if they make mistakes or take shortcuts. This case with the levee system is a perfect example of
how engineers need to be aware. It was shown that certain decisions had helped save the government
close to $100 million, but had dramatically dropped durability and reliability of the system. This
shows that, had they been more ethical and self aware, then the Hurricane Katrina disaster would have
been less of a

Different Methods For Transfer Energy From One Source
Introduction:
Conduction, Convection and Radiation are three different methods to transfer energy from one source,
such as an object, to another. The method of conduction takes place when atoms or molecules move at
a higher speed after heat is absorbed at the surface. In doing this, the particles bump into each other,
transferring their energy. This allows heat energy to be passed through the object until the heat source
is removed. Convection is the flow of molecules or atoms through a fluid state such as liquid or gas.
When heat is added, the molecules that are closest to the source get hotter and are pushed to the top
forcing the cooler molecules to the bottom to then repeat the process. Radiation is the transfer of
energy through waves, which can be transferred through solids, liquids and gases. This process does
not have a need for particles for energy to pass through. Insulators are used to stop or reduce the
transfer of heat energy via conduction, convection or radiation. Insulators to prevent conduction
contain many air pockets. Solid materials are often used to reduce convection and reflective insulators
are used in the reflection of radiation.
Infrared radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation that has a greater wavelength than visible
light. Although infrared can t be seen to the human eye it can be felt as heat energy. All objects eject
and absorb infrared radiation, but at different rates. An object with a higher temperature ejects more
heat than an

The Importance Of Water Problems In America
Here on planet earth things are steadily growing, changing and becoming faster right before our eyes.
Here in America, it s hard to remember the daily struggles in other countries as we re so wrapped up in
ourselves. These problems are happening daily and we don t even realize it, but one day it will catch
up to us. These problems include the massive increase in population, will there be enough food, and
will there be enough water for future generations? The population is growing by 80 million each year,
220,00 each day, and with that comes the demand for water, which doubles every 20 years. Though
the planet contains a massive amount of water, approximately 97% is undrinkable seawater and
another 2% is in the ice caps. We re in danger of many

Early Psychosis Intervention ( Epi ) Program Essay
Once hospitalized, SC was enrolled in the Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Program. This pilot
provides timely treatment for individuals under 25 who are newly diagnosed, or have untreated
psychosis (Vancouver Coastal Health, 2016). SC met these criteria. EPI is based on the idea that if
psychosis is recognized and treated early, interventions can limit the potential for ongoing negative
consequences (BC Early Psychosis Intervention Program, 2016). Although this was SC s fourth
hospitalization, this was her first time on the EPI. By not being treated effectively on her first
admission, her chances of success were reduced. A substantial barrier for EPI is a client s delay, or
refusal to access services (BC Schizophrenia Society, 2012). SC had not been ready to accept
treatment during previous admissions. Lappin et al. (2016) also argue that there needs to be available
services specifically for young adults early in their illness that also have particular interventions for
drug related psychosis. This addictions component is not specifically addressed in the current EPI
model. However, it specifically targets young adults.
As well as additional monitoring of EPI, SC was being stabilized through medications. Her
pharmaceutical interventions included suboxone to treat substance dependence, gabapentin as a mood
stabilizer, olanzepine for psychosis and zopiclone for insomnia (Vallerand, Sanoski, Deglin, 2015).
However, only offering abstinence rather than a harm

Dionysian Spirit Research Paper
Three reasons why it s possible to exist as Dionysian spirit: 1. It s where we came from our first
actions, as evidenced in infancy, are Dionysian; all needs of survival are expressed and met through
emotional expression and reciprocation only and instinctively. It is for this reason as well that music,
often the purest expression of emotion outside of a human her/himself, is a child s first non human
connection and stimulus. Children don t need to be taught how to dance; the compulsion to move one
s body in sync with rhythms/emotions is innate. There is a solace afforded by instinctual indulgence,
through the embracing of primordial aspects of existence such as music, that is unattainable through
any other medium and consequently makes such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And its downfall was present even before its inception, by its prerequisite, again, the principium
individuationis. Logic must perish once its unshakeable moral foundation is forced to admit itself
guilty of illogic, and therefore always commits suicide. The instance of being s presence is absurd.
Life is impossible. Yet like a flower sprouting through our great cement art, persists life does, deep
inside the holes from which everything is encountered, as all eyes are empty in the middle. There is no
object without a subject. Thus, although not necessarily dependent on, all is indivisible from
subjectivity, existing merely as representation, as Schoepenhauer (one of Nietzsche s influencers)
would say, and thus making any sort of knowing in the accepted sense of the word impossible. As
logic would have it, an objective view from nowhere is unthinkable and correspondingly senseless, in
both sentiments of the

How Cars Changed Our Society
Automotives
This essay will talk about automotives and how they changed the human society significantly. Cars are
getting faster and faster. Cars are getting more energy efficient. Also cars are getting more durable and
safer.
The automotive industry has changed the human society to the extreme. For example, cars are getting
faster and faster like the 2016 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Visa Super Sports was the fastest production car
there was. It could go up to 256 mph top speed. But the 2016 Bugatti Chiron now is the fastest
production car. It could go up to 288 mph. Faster cars have impacted our lives by enabling the human
race to go to places faster and farther.

The 70 s cars weren t very safe, but 2017 s new cars are much safer. The problems in the 70 s cars
were: tires, steering, chassis, headlights, brakes, no air bags, and a few other problems. Tires did not
have alot of attraction and made other problems even worse. The 2017 car s tires have alot of
attraction to the road. A 70 s car s steering was not very good and was one of the problems made
worse due to the tires, but a 2017 car can steer significantly better plus, tires do not add to the
problem. Back in the 70 s instead of brake disks there was what was called brake drums (not the kind
of drum that you bang on) which were less effective and less safe. The modern brake disk can stop a
car faster than a brake drum which is safer. Head lights were not safe in two ways: the glare and lack
of sight at night. The modern headlights use better equipment. Also the modern headlights might have
solved one problem (the lack of sight at night), but it did not help the glare. Though the car industries
are trying to solve that problem. The lack of airbags in the 70 s car (airbags were first put in a car in
1973) was not safe at all. A 70 s car chassis was not very durable and did not have a crumple zone
(that was already talked about).

Rates of Violence
Rates of Violence Introduction Crime, according to Emile Durkheim, is a normal component of
society. The iconic psychologist said that in the 19th century. But crime is considered abnormal in
England, the United States, and in Canada; this paper presents data on the three nations mentioned
above. United States Murder: According to the FBI, there were an estimated 14,748 individuals
murdered in 2010 in the U.S., which is down by 4.2 percent from 2009. There were 4.8 murders per
100,000 inhabitants and 44 percent of the murders took place in the South, 20.6 percent in the West,
19.9 percent in the Midwest and 15.6 percent in the Northeast. Aggravated Assault: Also in 2010,
there were an estimated 778,901 aggravated assaults in the United States, the FBI reports. That is a
decline by 4.1 percent from the year 2009, and a decline of 14.3 percent from 2001. There were
approximately 252.3 assaults per 100,000 people and 27.4 percent were carried out with hands, fists,
or feet ; 20.6 percent were committed using firearms; 19 percent were committed with knives or other
cutting instruments, the FBI reports. Forcible Rape: the FBI report indicates an estimated 84,767
forcible rapes were reported in 2010, down 5 percent from 2009. There were 54.2 rapes per 100,000
females. Robbery: As to robberies in 2010, the FBI estimates there were 367,832 robberies, that is
down 10 percent from the data in 2009. There was one robbery per 100,000 inhabitants. England

The Unconditional Trust In William Carlos Williams The Use...
Doctors have maintained credibility for their ability to treat and cure for centuries. By earning the title
of Doctor, it is common for them to be given automatic respect and admiration. However, William
Carlos Williams The Use of Force reveals the phenomenon that unconditional trust may paradoxically
have a negative impact on the doctor patient relationship. His narration contrasts the characteristics
expected in a doctor to that of his own personal feelings and emotions.
The parents of a young girl urgently ask Doctor Williams to check on their daughter, concerned that
she was sick with diphtheria. As the doctor approaches the young girl, he narrates, I smiled in my best

Doctors are perceived as selfless, altruistic, and amicable saviors which convinces the general public
that doctors should be trusted. As Lee observed, the narrator warns his readers of the danger that can
come along with blind trust. The warning implied in the story of a doctor s exploitation of professional
privileges is for his patients to protect themselves (Axelrod, 466) In the beginning, the doctor narrator
showed characteristics of wanting to help and represented himself as trustworthy to the young girl in
order to gain her cooperation. His thoughts suggested good intentions as well, I m here to look at her
throat at the chance that she might have diphtheria and possibly die of it (Axelrod, 502). However,
many would argue that the doctor came off as pretentious because he brushed off all signs of courtesy
made by the parents. Interestingly, the parents were not bothered by the doctor s discount and

Compare And Contrast Soccer Vs Sports Essay
In the 2014 soccer World Cup finals 18.2 million worldwide viewers tuned in for it. In comparison the
2013 baseball World Series game 6 (when the Red Sox won the series) had 19.2 worldwide viewers.
The World Series overall has had lower television rating compared to the past, but soccer can hardly
be considered the reason for that. Baseball has been voted America s 2nd favorite sport (behind
football) and soccer was voted America s 4th favorite sport. Therefore, baseball is better and more
popular than soccer.
Baseball had been the most popular sport in America all the way up to 1985 when football took over.

Unfortunately in 1985 football took that over. But still baseball maintained to stay America s most
popular sport for 27 years when soccer was never America s most popular sport. And I think 27 is
better than 0. Also, even if baseball isn t the most popular sport right now, it s still 2 spaces ahead of
soccer.
Baseball is not going to lose it s popularity to soccer anytime soon though. I already explained that I
would rather pay to watch baseball than to watch soccer for free, but another reason I think that is
because soccer is a new sport to America since the MLS was only founded in 1993, so that means
more people have been growing up watching baseball teams from their area instead of soccer teams
and that means their kids are watching baseball and I think it will take a few generations just to shake
that off.
It is hard to find a reason why baseball would be less of a popular sport than soccer, (I bet some
people could come up with some reasons) but I think overall you can t beat most of the facts. Maybe it
s because I play baseball and I like to watch it, or maybe because of all the websites that I looked at

Theme Of The Book Thief
An Analysis of Developing Themes Inside Markus Zusak s The Book Thief Growing up isn t easy.
Growing up in a war infested environment with the constant threat of being bombed, terrorized, or
taken away isn t a walk in the park either. Liesel Meminger was only nine years old when her
suffering began. Markus Zusak s The Book Thief unravels in antebellum Germany, in the small town
of Molching. Within the first few pages, the main protagonist, Liesel, witnesses the death of brother
and is abandoned by her mother, leaving two complete strangers to nurture and raise her. Throughout
the several hardships Liesel faces, three main concurrent themes are evident: the power of words,
humanity s evils, and loss with survivor s guilt. Writing can be ... Show more content on

This is an example of humanity s evils because Hitler had gone so far that even Death himself was
stunned and surprised at Hitler s murderous intent. Another example of dehumanization would be
Hitler s view of Jews. It is evident that Hitler didn t see the Jews as actual people, and proceeded to
kill them without a second thought. The fact that eleven million people lost their life because of Adolf
Hitler is proof of his lack of humanity. Everyone is bound to die sometime. The narrator of The Book
Thief is Death, who appears whenever someone is close to death and has immortality, unlike humans.
Loss is an existing theme in the story because throughout the story, Liesel experiences many different
cases of loss first hand. At the very beginning of the book, Liesel watches her brother die in front of
her own eyes, while also losing her mother. The impact of loss is especially great when the bombing
comes. Liesel finds her best friend, Rudy, dead, as well as her foster parents. She is also overwhelmed
by the fact that there is a high chance Max is gone forever. Even after being confronted with such loss
at a young age, she keeps living and stays with Ilsa Hermann. Survivor s guilt is also apparent in the
book because it lives in both Liesel and Hans Hubermann. Liesel not only feels this guilt after the
bombing, but throughout the whole book as well. She is traumatized after she loses her own brother

believe in paranormal forces or not, it is not safe for minors to be outside after midnight. Kids often
view curfews as an unnecessary rule, but there are many benefits to having one. They have often been
implemented by parents, but there is none that is country wide. There should be a legal curfew for
minors because it protects them from harm, improves their mental health, and reduces the rate of
juvenile crime.

Having a curfew would lower the risk of them getting abused or kidnapped, strengthen their mental
health by increasing their sleep and reduce the rate of juvenile crime. So when you are in high school,
make sure you make good choices and listen to your parents when they tell you to be home by a
certain time. After all, there are many benefits to a curfew, including extra protection against
paranormal activity!

Differences Between Class Inequalities In Income And Wealth
Fourthly, class is a complex issue, when looking at the history of the U.K. This concept being used
since the nineteenth century describing differences between social groupings and how society in
Britain operates. Conversely, within the Making Lives Strand Bauman argues People are preoccupied
now not with Class, but with personal taste and individuality Bauman, Z, (1988) cited in Hetherington
K, and Havard C. (2014 pg. 139). Yet systematic patterns of class can still be seen today, being used to
judge and label people as in our industrial past. As Arnold, M. (1869) cited in Institute for policy
studies (2016) is quoted, Our inequality materializes our upper class, vulgarizes our middle class,
brutalizes our lower class with class seen as a process of social stratification, based upon differences
in occupations, income, wealth and power and one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Clarke indicates, Class inequalities in income and wealth have not only persisted over
time, but have deepened, both in the U.K. and Globally . (Clarke J. 2014, p. 384).
In conclusion, this essay considered the three module questions and the two chosen strands, discussing
how differences and inequalities are linked and seen persisting over time and how they are interrelated
when looking at examples from Consumerism, Wealth, Homelessness and Class. Concluding that
differences and inequalities in Britain are at an all time high continuing to be made and remade in
unequal ways not only within the U.K. but Globally. Consequently, with poverty levels rising it can be
inferred that increasing numbers of people will be left poor some with their most basic needs unmet
whilst the top percent of society will continue to see their share of global resources increase.
Therefore, inequality is now a global issue because the distribution of equal valued resources does not
exist and thus differences and inequalities will continue to persist over time to the detriment of us

The Accomplishments Of Walt Disney
Introduction People are working hard to succeed their life, and achieve certain goals. Some people
have the ability to identify their skills and function them in a right way to gain profits. There are some
individuals who start from scratch to create a great accomplishment. Some examples of ambitious
people inspire the world to seek their purpose and reach a fascinating results like Walt Disney. Walt
Disney owns the biggest entertainment company, the Walt Disney Company, which was named Disney
Brothers Cartoon Studio. Thus, he is considered one of the greatest successful businessmen in the
history of entertainments.
Walt Disney as an Entertainment Maker Walt Disney s passion started from an early age when he went
to a theater to see Snow White. In 1919, he worked in commercial business for a period of time where
he found out that he is really talented. In 1923, he established Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio with his
brother Roy, and he animated what is shot by a secondhand camera. The admirable story of Walt
Disney (Bio. , 2015) revolves around few words; innovation, imagination and animation. An
animation is basically defined as; a reproduction of movement that is created by displaying a series of
pictures or frames. The most commonly known type of animation is the cartoons. The computerized
animation, these days, is one of the key components of multimedia presentation.
Barrier M. (2006) mentioned that Disney s aims, when he was starting out as a filmmaker, were

The Killer At Thurston High
In the opening of the film The Killer at Thurston High , the narrator claims that Kipland Kinkel s life
was nothing remarkable (Kirk, M. PBS Video.) After viewing the film and considering this claim, I
will admit I am bothered by it. The film itself is a documentary of a large school shooting, which is
anything but unremarkable. In addition, the events and description of Kip s life within the video
completely contradict this statement. Kip Kinkel s life is filled with family, educational, and bullying
issues. In fact, he failed at nearly everything he attempted to do.
Even before the string of crime began, Kip Kinkel had failed in a plethora of other areas in his life.
For example, his relationship with his family was strained at best. ... Show more content on

Family, for example, is the most important agent of socialization. (Schaefer, 2009, p. 88). If there are
conflicts within the immediate family, a person will not learn to socialize competently. Kip s parents
did not provide the necessary attention a child needs; he felt alone and somewhat disconnected from
others as he grew older. As for education, the systems of reward and punishment in place can cause a
child who is experiencing difficulty trying to learn a new skill feel stupid and unsuccessful. (Schaefer,
2009, p. 89). Being dyslexic with parents unwilling to assist him caused exactly that to happen. This
contributed to his feelings of depression, thinking he was a failure, and prevented him from trying new
things. While Kip s parents are not responsible for the shooting, they certainly contributed to their
child s issues. In social structure, they had a fairly high status. It made them believe they were above
things such as seeing a psychologist, and that these types of issues couldn t happen to them. It took a
lot of convincing, especially on the father s half, to get Kip any kind of assistance. No one should ever
wonder why this shooting

past mistakes so we will be sure to never repeat them. By reading about katniss s bravery, we can
emulate it ourselves. It shows that one person really can make a difference. For example, in the
beginning Katniss was a scared girl and throughout the book you can slowly see her changing into a
fearless leader that is the influence of Panem. This just goes to show that one act of bravery can go a
very long way. In conclusion, these books all teach very different lessons about life that will help

The Importance Of A Development As Helpful As Printing
A development as helpful as printing, in an Europe of expanding flourishing, promptly finds new
clients. The primary Italian press is established in 1464, at the Benedictine town of Subiaco in the
ecclesiastical states. Switzerland has a press in the next year. Printing starts in Venice, Paris and
Utrecht in 1470, in Spain and Hungary in 1473, in Bruges in 1474 (on a press claimed by Caxton, who
moves it to London in 1476), in Sweden in 1483. Before the century s over the art is settled in every
European kingdom aside from Russia.
Amid the early decades, German printing prevails. A bigger number of books are distributed in
Germany than anyplace else (by 1500 there are printers in around sixty German towns); German
printers convey the art mysteries abroad; and outside printers come to Germany to study as
understudies. The soonest typography is accordingly operating at a profit letter style of contemporary
German original copies. Yet, before the century s over the most popular and persuasive printing is
being done in Italy, with a relating change in appearance. From the 1470s, when Nicolas Jenson sets
up a press there, Venice turns into a city known for the nature of its printing. Its overwhelming nature
in the field is solidly settled before the century s over through the productions of Aldus Manutius.
These Venetian printers create sort confronts more open and exquisite than the German dark letter
custom, getting them from the scripts of the Italian humanists. In doing

Character Analysis of Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers
Mrs. Martha Hale is an apologetic, dutiful, and rational character who serves as a defense to justify
Mrs. Wright s murderous crime. Mrs. Hale as featured in A Jury of Her Peers Written by Susan
Glaspell has the storyline of a mother who has intense apologetic regret over allowing her life to push
things aside, of being a dutiful homemaker, and of unseen rational processing to the truth of the crime.
Martha is mixed with regret in an apologetic manner for the lack of social outreach. Her first quote I
ought to go over and see Minnie Foster (Insert Cite) after feeling as if she could not cross the line into
Minnie Foster s home because she felt regret for making excuses for twenty years. From the same

Wright expected that Minnie provide the type of living she was provided in childhood but he was
unwilling or unable to provide the equipment to do so.
Despite being a precise homemaker she provides rational excuses to everything wrong with Minnie s
home or life. Mrs. Hale took great defense when the attorney and sheriff were criticizing Minnie s
kitchen. She seemed to act like it was a direct insult to her own skills. She made the rational and
informative snap that Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (pg 187). This implied that
even though the kitchen was not perfect, it wasn t just the woman s fault for the mess. Her realization,
after the thought of half sifted four still sitting in her own kitchen, of Minnie being interrupted in the
middle of her kitchen (pg 188) made Mrs. Hale extremely uneasy in problem with undone things.
Along with perfect homemaking skills Mrs. Hale had what we would describe as mild obsessive
compulsive disorder as she inspected the quilt. The stitching on Minnie s quilt had even strokes but
one was uneven and described as worked on by a nervous Minnie (pg 191). Mrs. Hale logical and
detailed analyzing of the uneven stitching allowed her a shared thought process with Minnie, but this
did set her uneasy in the situation. The finding of an empty bird cage and then nosy look over of the
cage offered readers a final defense from Martha Hale. After discovery of the rough handling of the
cage, and the broken door (pg

very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity made me realise what
kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person. This made me realise that
the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all changes were positive, for example, I
became less active/athletic. Thirdly, this activity made me realise who I was going to become. I felt
like I was going to become a respectful, determined, and successful person. This activity has helped
me make life goals and also exceeded my determination. To summarize, in this activity I learned what

Tissues and Cell Structures
Tissues are groupings of cells with similar functions. There are four main kinds of human tissues:
Muscle Tissue
Muscular tissue is made up of cells that have sliding protein (actin, a globular protein, and myosin)
filaments. As these filaments slide over each other, they cause the cell to contract. Cells are arranged
in cables within cables, twined around each other, so that when a muscle contracts, it is actually
millions of cells contracting synchronously. There are three types of muscle tissue; cardiac muscle that
operates in the heart; skeletal muscle which is used for locomotion (among other functions) and is
found all over the body; and smooth muscle which is found in a variety of organs (such as the stomach
and bladder) and in blood vessels. Smooth muscle also causes our hair to stand on end.
Nervous Tissue
Nervous tissue makes up the brain and nervous system. It is used to transmit information around the
body for a huge variety of tasks (for example, controlling muscles). Apart from in the brain, it is also
found in the spine and in sensory organs such as the eyes. It is made up of cells called neurons which
transmit electric chemical signals around the body and centrally to the brain. For example, when we
feel pain in our finger, it is caused by sensory input to the nerve cells in the finger, which transmit an
electric impulse to the brain. The brain then translates this impulse into what we call pain.
Epithelial Tissue
Epithelial tissue, among other things,

The Effect of Political Machines on the Democratic System...
The Effect of Political Machines on the Democratic System
A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all powerful executive of political bosses
and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because
they love their servitude To make them love it is the task assigned Aldous Huxley (Quotes, 1).
Through the strong sarcasm in this statement the negative effect political bosses have on a liberal
society can be seen. In the late 1800 s there was a rise in the number of incoming immigrants in the
United States, and that was when certain groups called political machines started to spring up. These
groups were initially designed to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, Tammany Hall was run by only a small percentage of the population, wealthy, privileged, white
males. People in other classes were not represented and had no say, which therefore went against the
basis of democracy where everyone is supposed to have an equal say and equal rights. A statistic that
shows us just how corrupt Tammany Hall was, is that it is believed to have conned New York City out
of somewhere between 30 200 million dollars (about.com, 1). Having such dishonest and deceitful
leaders definitely goes against the democratic system, which is all about being honest. Another
political machine that went against the principles of democracy was that of Edward Crump.
In Memphis, Tennessee, through his political machine Crump controlled everything. That in itself is
one of the things that negatively impacted the democratic system. All of the peoples power was in one
man, which is too much power for one person to have in a democracy. Also, with this power Crump
mistreated those lower than him. For example, when he arrived at sporting events the crowd was
expected to cheer, and he ordered the people to address him as Boss when talking to him. This is
undemocratic since all this power is concentrated in one man, whereas in a

Causes Of Overgeneralization In Canada
Aboriginal people have long rich history in Canada, but with this history they have dealt with an
abundant amount of injustice, they have been constantly been overgeneralized in the Canadian system
of justice leading Aboriginal people to a circle of disadvantage involving poverty and inequality, to
employment barriers, health care matters, and education matters as well. Explicit procedures were
deliberated to help break this cycle specific methods were put in place. Hence, Aboriginal people have
faced in equality in many different forms in the criminal justice. For instance Aboriginal people
experience higher victimization their annual statistics comes to an average of 40 percent when for non
Aboriginal people it is at 28 percent. Leading to higher incarceration rates of Aboriginal incarceration
rate at 1,300 per 100,000 which is about ten times more than Canadians (140 per 100,000 adults). So
leading causes of overgeneralization of Aboriginal people like this not only because of systematic
discrimination by biases in police officers work or the criminal justice system it is also due to things
like socio economic marginality, and colonial experience they have experienced. Another group that
struggles with this issue that Aboriginal people faced of overgeneralization is African Americans.
When it comes to 2015 statistics unemployment rates for Aboriginal Canadians is at 14 percent person
when African American is just underneath them at 11 percent. But some statics ended up

If the evidence is compared to the characteristics of life it can be concluded that life does exist in the
pond water we examined. One of the things that we had observed about the Cladocera Bosmina is that
whenever we would move the slide into the light so that we could see the specimen better, the
specimen would move out of the light. This is an example of an organism reacting to a stimuli, a
stimuli is a signal that an organism responds to. This directly connects to the characteristic of life that
something alive must react to it s environment. Another example of this characteristic is when both the
damselfly larvae and the mayfly larvae used the long appendages (which after looking at a diagram i
found out where antennas that they use to feel around them) to sense what was happening in the
environment around them. However, this is not the only characteristic of life that we found in the pond

Total Serum Protein Determination Lab Report
Introduction
Total serum protein determination is a standard clinical test that is often used for the diagnosis of
diseases involving the kidneys, liver or bone marrow and other metabolic or nutritional disorders1.
Blood plasma contains approximately 7% proteins by weight and the fluid that remains after the
clotting factors are removed from the plasma is the serum2. Albumin and globulin are the most
common blood proteins, and the total protein is the combined measure of the two3. The most
abundant protein is albumin, which acts as a carrier of many different molecules in the blood and
helps maintain blood volume2. The globulin proteins include many enzymes and elements of the

This method is a chromogenic test that uses biuret reagent to detect the presence of peptide bonds in
blood serum12. The active ingredients in the reagent are sodium hydroxide, potassium sodium tartrate
and copper sulphate pentahydrate13. The development of a violet colour after incubation at room
temperature is indicative of the presence of proteins and peptides in the blood serum12. A coloured
coordination complex forms when the copper ions (Cu2+) binds to the deprotonated nitrogen atoms
that form the peptide bonds of the amino acids12. Reactions can also occur between Cu2+ and the
nitrogen in the amide groups and the imidazole rings12. The colour intensifies after a period of
incubation as the alkalinity of the solution increases and more deprotonated nitrogen atoms become
available12. The concentration of the protein and the colour intensity are proportional, thereby
exhibiting a linear relationship in accordance with the Beer Lambert law14. Absorbance is measured

Analysis Of Erin Brockovich By Director Steven Soderbergh
Taking a shower, washing your car, living life, all require one common element, water. Roughly
seventy percent of the surface of Earth is liquid, that s a lot of H2O. With such an abundance of this
natural resource why do so many not have access to a reliably clean source? Industrialization was the
problem for the residents of Hinkley, California as portrayed by director Steven Soderbergh s 2000
drama titled Erin Brockovich. A movie that made the public aware of a life threating substance found
throughout the world. Erin Brockovich is based on the community of Hinkley, California a town
located in the Mojave Desert. Where more than 600 residents were destructively affected by
groundwater that was polluted with Chromium VI (CrVI) also known as hexavalent chromium. Three
miles southeast of Hinkley, is the site of Hinkley Compressor Station 3, owned by the Pacific Gas and
Electric Company (PG E). The compressor is used to compress natural gas as it is transported through
pipelines running from Texas to California. The California Water Science Center reports that during
the 1950s and 1960s the compressors cooling water was treated with Cr VI to prevent corrosion of the
compressor station. That cooling water was then released into unlined ponds subsequently releasing
contaminates into the soil and groundwater (U.S. Geological Survey 2016). Chromium is not a new
finding. Its original discovery was made during the 1700s when Johann Gottlob Lehmann acquired a

  • 2. Net Neutrality Between The Federal Communication... Imagine getting online, only to find out that you can t access your favorite website. It could be Instagram, Tumblr, or even Youtube, a website for uploading videos. After getting off the phone with your internet provider, they tell you that you need to pay to access your favorite website. Internet providers want it to be set up that way. Their has been an ongoing debate about net neutrality between the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and internet providers. Net neutrality is fighting again internet providers blocking content. Internet It is important to know the history of the internet. The internet is a worldwide network of computer systems that are connected to each other by cables (Howe, 2012). The internet first started out as a military experiment. In 1957, the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) was created by the United States department of Defense (Computer History Museum, 2004). The project was started after the Russians launched a satellite into space for communication reasons. The satellite was called SPUTNIK (Computer History Museum, 2004). It was rumored that President Eisenhower got worried and decided to get the United States to launch its own satellite. They recruited Dr. Joseph C. Licklider of MIT, was made head of the Information Processing Techniques Office (IPTO)(Computer History Museum, 2004). Their purpose of the project was to focus on improving the military use of computer information. In 1967, Lawrence Roberts publishes a plan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Separation Of Family his statement, he admits that No respect was shown... Indeed no respect was shown. Separating families for the desire of money may be looked at as corrupt. No shame was brought to those capturing and destroying family bonds. Instead, the ones in shame were the ones in captive. Going further into the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Separation of family continued. A young boy by the name of Frederick Douglass did not have the constant love and warmth of a mother throughout his developing life. At the time, captive African were now slaves. Slaves were expected to work hard and long hours each day or physical punishments may happen. • 4. The Lord Of Flies And Lord Of The Flies Death surrounds regions, and it is sometimes essential to make a difference. In the novel The Lord of the Flies a group of boys are evacuated from England during WWII but their plane crashes on a tropical island. In the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Pompey has been defeated which leaves Julius Caesar as the leader of Rome. In the novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding and in the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is needed to influence change. Revolutions occur when the individual in charge obtains too much power. In The Lord of the Flies there are no adults on the island so there is nobody that appears to be a figure of authority. Ralph is selected as chief because of his appearance being that he is older and a fair boy. Jack believes that he should be chief being that he was the leader of the choir prior to the crash. The older boys and the choir organize a separate group from Ralph, Piggy, Simon, and the littluns (smaller kids). The main objective for these boys is to have dominance over the island. This group of boys obtain power by having a different mentality from the others. Jack tells Roger For hunting. Like in war. You know dazzle paint. Like things trying to like something else on page 63. This quote shows that Jack s group wants to set themselves apart from the other boys on the island by changing their appearance and mentality. • 5. Concert Observation I enjoyed a Dame Myra Hess Concert at the Chicago Cultural Center, held in the Preston Bradley Hall. It featured Brannon Cho and Victor Asuncion as the performers on November 16th in the afternoon. It showed a variety of compositions that kept me mesmerized throughout the show. The instruments they played were the cello and the piano. I chose this concert because it was convenient, location wise and it fitted well into my schedule. The only other concert I can relate it to was at church, it was a visit by a choir from Moody Church. Two of the compositions that attracted my attention were the seven variations on Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen and Arpeggione Sonata, Allegro moderato. The performers were in sync almost perfectly and had unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He completed several symphonies, operas and piano music. This composition was a Sonata form, which was part of the four movements. This was also played with a small ensemble (duet)While a more accurate term is also used to refer to the period from 1750 to 1820, this article is about the broad span of time from roughly the 11th century to the present day, which includes the Classical period and various other periods. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period. The major time divisions of Western art music are as follows: the early music period, which includes the Medieval and the Renaissance eras; the Common practice period, which includes the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras ; and the 20th century which includes the modern that overlaps from the late 19th¬century, the high modern, and contemporary or postmodern eras. Another difference is that whereas most popular styles adopt the song form, classical music has been noted for its development of highly sophisticated forms of instrumental music such as the concerto, symphony, sonata, and mixed vocal and instrumental styles such as opera which, since they are written down, can sustain larger forms and attain a high level of complexity. The term classical music appeared during the 19th century, in an attempt to distinctly canonize the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. • 6. Cleaning A Car After It Has Had Body Work Cleaning a car after it has had body work done and been buffed is not as simple as it sounds. There are several steps to this process and each step requires materials a common household would not have. The materials needed include several microfiber towels, glass cleaner, show shine, interior cleaner, spray bottles, steel wool, vacuum cleaner with extendable hose, a water hose and/or a power washer, car wax, and paint thinner. Making a car spick and span after it has been repaired is not necessarily a complex process, but it does have several steps that a common person would not think about. The first step to washing a vehicle is to check it over and make sure everything that was supposed to be fixed is. The easy way to see which parts were replaced is to feel around the car and find the fresh paint. Fresh paint feels much smoother than the paint on the original parts of the car. Finding the replaced parts is important because around those parts are where the rubbing compound leftover from the buffer and the overspray leftover from the painter will be located. Rubbing compound is what buffers put on the car before they start buffing so that the buffer itself won t scratch the vehicle. When buffing the white compound will often get lodged in the small crevices of car, like in the crack between the headlight and car or the bumper and the back quarter panel. Overspray is a white and rough substance left on the car from the painters. It can be easily seen on darker color cars, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compensation Cases and Their Impact on China and Japan History and the notion of compensation are two key aspects in the study of Sino Japanese relations. During the 1980s, the opening up by the People s Republic of China s government about war atrocities led a number of victims to seek reparations and apologies from Japan. Compensation cases were brought forward from the 1990s and broke the silence about what had truly happened during the war. Moreover, the rapid spread of new information about the past prompted increased tensions between the two countries that had previously ignored the issue in order to privilege economic and diplomatic cooperation. To date, the affiliation between China and Japan seems to have deteriorated significantly and history is one of the main matters addressed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The VAWW NET (Violence Against Women in War Network Japan), Chinese War Victims Lawyer s Research Committee (now Chinese War Victims Compensation Claim Group), Society to Support the Demands of Chinese War Victims (Rose, 2005, p.77), etc. are all joint organizations fighting for the rights of the victims and trying to force Japan into taking legal responsibility for its actions and it is still a work in progress today. The creation of these Sino Japanese groups emphasizes the fact that the problem of compensation was just as important for both sides and signified that the history issue hadn t been dealt with properly. The 280 members of the Chinese War Victims Lawyers Research Committee were ready to defend Chinese victims in their lawsuits against Unit 731, the Comfort Women System, forced labour, etc. among many more. Their research played a significant role in providing evidence (Rose, 2005, p.76) that undermined Japan s stance on lack of sufficient evidence in order to accept legal liability for their actions (Tow, 2009 ). The involvement of academics and citizens were equally important as they too, discovered compelling evidence incriminating Japan and organizations such as Suopei counting over 2000 members are still collecting funds, providing evidence and reporting on the compensation movement in order to continue on their quest for justice and recognition (Rose, 2005, p.77). • 8. La Belle Dame Sans Meri This paper will be a study on La Belle Dame Sans Meri. This painting is an oil sketch for Waterhouse painting exhibit at the royal Academy in 1893 and now in the Hessisches Landes Museum, Darmstadt, Germany. John William Waterhouse was a man of very many talents. He was able to apply a natural setting. His art work is one of a kind and beautiful. He applies a combina favorite artists. The piece of work that I will be discussing is La Belle Dame Sans Merci. John William Waterhouse was born in Italy, 1849 within the city of Rome. According to history on April sixth, Waterhouse was baptized. Though we know many aspects of John William Waterhouse, we don t know his actual birthday. Waterhouse s parents were also artists, from which they came from England. His parents helped John William Waterhouse become the amazing artist he was. During the time of Waterhouse s birth the Industrial Revolution was happening. This led many other artists to act out against other artists who painted a more realistic style. They did this by painting in a new, different way by painting pure lines. This style came out during the classical period. Waterhouse has a style that was unlike any other painter, which made him completely unique (Artable, com, 2016). John William Waterhouse style of art work falls into a category called per Raphaelite. He gathered a lot of his style of art from Impressionists. Waterhouse gathered much of his inspiration from Arthurian legends and Greek ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. An Age Of Reform Swept An age of reform swept through our nation due to the unfairness that was happening in our country. Many people fought for change for themselves and for others that involved problems like alcohol and humane treatment for the insane. The radicals did their best for what they thought was right and changed our country for the better. There were costs and benefits to many movements, groups, and radical individuals who sought change between 1840 and 1877. They created conflict, chaos, and changes that played a part in making many reforms for their era. One such group that created a change was the American Temperance Society which was found in 1826. The American Temperance Society directed its efforts to redeeming not only habitual drunkards but also the occasional drinker (Foner 440). By the 1830s they believed that they had changed the minds of hundreds of thousands of Americans to give up on alcohol. By 1840, the consumption of alcohol per person had fallen to less than half the level of a decade earlier (Foner 440). The benefit of this change came with a cost, the temperance crusade and other reform movements aroused considerable hostility (Foner 441). Horace Mann who was a lawyer and a Whig politician was the leading education reformer for his era. Mann hoped that universal public education could restore equality to a fractured society by bringing the children of all classes together in a common learning experience and equipping the less fortunate to advance in the social ... • 10. The New Orleans Levee System On August 29th of 2005, a category 3 hurricane, dubbed Hurricane Katrina, hit the Gulf Coast of the United States. It brought winds of 100 to 140 miles per hour, and stretched more than 400 miles across. New Orleans had its first mandatory evacuation ordered the day before, while listing the Superdome as a shelter for those who couldn t leave town. More than 70 percent evacuated, while the rest stayed at their homes, or took to shelters, to wait out the storm. The aftermath of Katrina was felt in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, but New Orleans was affected the most by far. In the end, more than 2000 were either seriously injured or killed, while those who survived were very short on food, water, first aid, and had very few areas for shelter. A large reason the storm was so devastating was the fact that the storm was able to cover almost 80 percent of the entire city under a large amount of water. Before the storm hit, the city used levee systems and flood walls to protect itself from being flooded. During the storm, however, many failures in the levee system caused close to 80 percent of the flooding covering the city and the nearby parish. Many know that the levee system failed but few in the public know that the major reason it had failed was because of the incomplete design. The disaster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This case with the levee system is a perfect example of how engineers need to be aware. • 11. Different Methods For Transfer Energy From One Source Introduction: Conduction, Convection and Radiation are three different methods to transfer energy from one source, such as an object, to another. The method of conduction takes place when atoms or molecules move at a higher speed after heat is absorbed at the surface. In doing this, the particles bump into each other, transferring their energy. This allows heat energy to be passed through the object until the heat source is removed. Convection is the flow of molecules or atoms through a fluid state such as liquid or gas. When heat is added, the molecules that are closest to the source get hotter and are pushed to the top forcing the cooler molecules to the bottom to then repeat the process. Radiation is the transfer of energy through waves, which can be transferred through solids, liquids and gases. This process does not have a need for particles for energy to pass through. Insulators are used to stop or reduce the transfer of heat energy via conduction, convection or radiation. Insulators to prevent conduction contain many air pockets. Solid materials are often used to reduce convection and reflective insulators are used in the reflection of radiation. Infrared radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation that has a greater wavelength than visible light. Although infrared can t be seen to the human eye it can be felt as heat energy. All objects eject and absorb infrared radiation, but at different rates. An object with a higher temperature ejects more heat than an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This pilot provides timely treatment for individuals under 25 who are newly diagnosed, or have untreated psychosis (Vancouver Coastal Health, 2016). SC met these criteria. EPI is based on the idea that if psychosis is recognized and treated early, interventions can limit the potential for ongoing negative consequences (BC Early Psychosis Intervention Program, 2016). Although this was SC s fourth hospitalization, this was her first time on the EPI. By not being treated effectively on her first admission, her chances of success were reduced. A substantial barrier for EPI is a client s delay, or refusal to access services (BC Schizophrenia Society, 2012). SC had not been ready to accept treatment during previous admissions. Lappin et al. (2016) also argue that there needs to be available services specifically for young adults early in their illness that also have particular interventions for drug related psychosis. This addictions component is not specifically addressed in the current EPI model. However, it specifically targets young adults. As well as additional monitoring of EPI, SC was being stabilized through medications. Her pharmaceutical interventions included suboxone to treat substance dependence, gabapentin as a mood stabilizer, olanzepine for psychosis and zopiclone for insomnia (Vallerand, Sanoski, Deglin, 2015). The fact that eleven million people lost their life because of Adolf Hitler is proof of his lack of humanity. Everyone is bound to die sometime. To begin with, this activity made me realise what kind of person I am. I learned that I am a very respectful, intelligent, and clam person. This is a very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity made me realise what kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person. This made me realise that the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all changes were positive, for example, I became less active/athletic. Thirdly, this activity made me realise who I was going to become. I felt like I was going to become a respectful, determined, and successful person. This activity has helped me make life goals and also exceeded my determination. To summarize, in this activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be. How can you use what you learned by doing this activity? After completing The Changed through Time activity I can use what I learned by preparing for the future, improving any mistakes, and analyze/assess what I have learned. To begin ... • 30. Tissues and Cell Structures Tissues are groupings of cells with similar functions. There are four main kinds of human tissues: Muscle Tissue Muscular tissue is made up of cells that have sliding protein (actin, a globular protein, and myosin) filaments. As these filaments slide over each other, they cause the cell to contract. Cells are arranged in cables within cables, twined around each other, so that when a muscle contracts, it is actually millions of cells contracting synchronously. There are three types of muscle tissue; cardiac muscle that operates in the heart; skeletal muscle which is used for locomotion (among other functions) and is found all over the body; and smooth muscle which is found in a variety of organs (such as the stomach and bladder) and in blood vessels. Smooth muscle also causes our hair to stand on end. Nervous Tissue Nervous tissue makes up the brain and nervous system. It is used to transmit information around the body for a huge variety of tasks (for example, controlling muscles). Apart from in the brain, it is also found in the spine and in sensory organs such as the eyes. It is made up of cells called neurons which transmit electric chemical signals around the body and centrally to the brain. For example, when we feel pain in our finger, it is caused by sensory input to the nerve cells in the finger, which transmit an electric impulse to the brain. The brain then translates this impulse into what we call pain. Epithelial Tissue Epithelial tissue, among other things, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Effect of Political Machines on the Democratic System... The Effect of Political Machines on the Democratic System A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude To make them love it is the task assigned Aldous Huxley (Quotes, 1). Through the strong sarcasm in this statement the negative effect political bosses have on a liberal society can be seen. In the late 1800 s there was a rise in the number of incoming immigrants in the United States, and that was when certain groups called political machines started to spring up. These groups were initially designed to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, Tammany Hall was run by only a small percentage of the population, wealthy, privileged, white males. People in other classes were not represented and had no say, which therefore went against the basis of democracy where everyone is supposed to have an equal say and equal rights. A statistic that shows us just how corrupt Tammany Hall was, is that it is believed to have conned New York City out of somewhere between 30 200 million dollars (about.com, 1). Having such dishonest and deceitful leaders definitely goes against the democratic system, which is all about being honest. Another political machine that went against the principles of democracy was that of Edward Crump. In Memphis, Tennessee, through his political machine Crump controlled everything. That in itself is one of the things that negatively impacted the democratic system. All of the peoples power was in one man, which is too much power for one person to have in a democracy. Also, with this power Crump mistreated those lower than him. For example, when he arrived at sporting events the crowd was expected to cheer, and he ordered the people to address him as Boss when talking to him. This is undemocratic since all this power is concentrated in one man, whereas in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Causes Of Overgeneralization In Canada Aboriginal people have long rich history in Canada, but with this history they have dealt with an abundant amount of injustice, they have been constantly been overgeneralized in the Canadian system of justice leading Aboriginal people to a circle of disadvantage involving poverty and inequality, to employment barriers, health care matters, and education matters as well. Explicit procedures were deliberated to help break this cycle specific methods were put in place. Hence, Aboriginal people have faced in equality in many different forms in the criminal justice. For instance Aboriginal people experience higher victimization their annual statistics comes to an average of 40 percent when for non Aboriginal people it is at 28 percent. Leading to higher incarceration rates of Aboriginal incarceration rate at 1,300 per 100,000 which is about ten times more than Canadians (140 per 100,000 adults). So leading causes of overgeneralization of Aboriginal people like this not only because of systematic discrimination by biases in police officers work or the criminal justice system it is also due to things like socio economic marginality, and colonial experience they have experienced. Another group that struggles with this issue that Aboriginal people faced of overgeneralization is African Americans. When it comes to 2015 statistics unemployment rates for Aboriginal Canadians is at 14 percent person when African American is just underneath them at 11 percent. But some statics ended up ... • 33. Pond Water Argument Paper Pond Water Argument Paper Scientific Question: Is there life in the pond water? Claim: Yes, there is life in the pond water. Evidence: Specimen #1 Cladocera Bosmina (Water Fleas) We observed the specimen moving away from the light of the microscope every time that we put the slide near it. We could see that is was transparent and observed movement inside the specimen. We could see a green circle inside the specimen. Specimen #2 Narrowwinged Damselfly Larvae The specimen was smaller, but still had an organized structure. We were able to identify the specimen in a drawing in A Guide to Common Freshwater Invertebrates of North America. We observed the specimen moving a long appendage that was attached to the smaller part of its structure Specimen #3 Pronggilled Mayfly Larvae ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the evidence is compared to the characteristics of life it can be concluded that life does exist in the pond water we examined. One of the things that we had observed about the Cladocera Bosmina is that whenever we would move the slide into the light so that we could see the specimen better, the specimen would move out of the light. This is an example of an organism reacting to a stimuli, a stimuli is a signal that an organism responds to. This directly connects to the characteristic of life that something alive must react to it s environment. Another example of this characteristic is when both the damselfly larvae and the mayfly larvae used the long appendages (which after looking at a diagram i found out where antennas that they use to feel around them) to sense what was happening in the environment around them. However, this is not the only characteristic of life that we found in the pond water. Two of the specimen that we found were both smaller, but still had on organized structure. After looking in the book, A Guide to the Freshwater Invertebrates in North America I was able to conclude that both of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Total Serum Protein Determination Lab Report Introduction Total serum protein determination is a standard clinical test that is often used for the diagnosis of diseases involving the kidneys, liver or bone marrow and other metabolic or nutritional disorders1. Blood plasma contains approximately 7% proteins by weight and the fluid that remains after the clotting factors are removed from the plasma is the serum2. Albumin and globulin are the most common blood proteins, and the total protein is the combined measure of the two3. The most abundant protein is albumin, which acts as a carrier of many different molecules in the blood and helps maintain blood volume2. The globulin proteins include many enzymes and elements of the immune system such as antibodies and immunoglobulins2. Changes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method is a chromogenic test that uses biuret reagent to detect the presence of peptide bonds in blood serum12. The active ingredients in the reagent are sodium hydroxide, potassium sodium tartrate and copper sulphate pentahydrate13. The development of a violet colour after incubation at room temperature is indicative of the presence of proteins and peptides in the blood serum12. A coloured coordination complex forms when the copper ions (Cu2+) binds to the deprotonated nitrogen atoms that form the peptide bonds of the amino acids12. Reactions can also occur between Cu2+ and the nitrogen in the amide groups and the imidazole rings12. The colour intensifies after a period of incubation as the alkalinity of the solution increases and more deprotonated nitrogen atoms become available12. The concentration of the protein and the colour intensity are proportional, thereby exhibiting a linear relationship in accordance with the Beer Lambert law14. • 36. Analysis Of Erin Brockovich By Director Steven Soderbergh Taking a shower, washing your car, living life, all require one common element, water. Roughly seventy percent of the surface of Earth is liquid, that s a lot of H2O. With such an abundance of this natural resource why do so many not have access to a reliably clean source? Industrialization was the problem for the residents of Hinkley, California as portrayed by director Steven Soderbergh s 2000 drama titled Erin Brockovich. A movie that made the public aware of a life threating substance found throughout the world. Erin Brockovich is based on the community of Hinkley, California a town located in the Mojave Desert. Where more than 600 residents were destructively affected by groundwater that was polluted with Chromium VI (CrVI) also known as hexavalent chromium. Three miles southeast of Hinkley, is the site of Hinkley Compressor Station 3, owned by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG E). The compressor is used to compress natural gas as it is transported through pipelines running from Texas to California. The California Water Science Center reports that during the 1950s and 1960s the compressors cooling water was treated with Cr VI to prevent corrosion of the compressor station. That cooling water was then released into unlined ponds subsequently releasing contaminates into the soil and groundwater (U.S. Geological Survey 2016). Chromium is not a new finding. Its original discovery was made during the 1700s when Johann Gottlob Lehmann acquired a mineral that had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
