Erik Erikson s Social Stages Of Development
Erik Erikson was born in Germany to a Danish mother and three years later, a German stepfather. He
never knew his real father from Denmark. Growing up in Germany in a Jewish environment was
sometimes difficult for him because of his Nordic features among his brown eyes, brown haired peers.
Erikson was largely influenced by Sigmund Freud and expanded upon his Human Development
theory with his own, the Psych Social Stages of Development. Erikson moved to America in 1933
with his family to Boston, becoming the first child analyst in that area at Harvard Medical School. He
taught other institutions such as Yale and UC Berkeley. During his long career, he wrote about a
variety of topics ranging from issues of race and sexuality to influential figures in history.
Erikson s Psyco Social Stages of Development was extremely influential the field of developmental
psychology because it laid down stages for ages to come. There are eight stages that span the human
life expectancy. The first stage is called Trust vs. Mistrust, which deals with infants. The infant is
developing trust within the mother and parental figures and with that trust, stability is either
established or not. The mistrust that infants may develop comes from a lack of stability with their
caregivers. The second stage is Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt, between the ages of a year and a half
and three. Children are either encouraged or criticized by their parents as they seek independence. The
autonomy comes from being

American Civil War and Sectionalism
1. Approximately 180,000 Negros served in the Union during the Civil War. The Negro Soldier was
overall a good one. One example was at the Assault on Fort Wagner, South Carolina. The 54th
Massachusetts Colored troops led the assault and scaled the fort s parapet and were only driven back
after brutal hand to hand fighting. The Negro faced some discrimination in the Union Army in areas
such as pay. It wasn t until June 15th, 1864 that the Congress granted equal pay to Negro troops.
Several Negro soldiers earned the Medal of Honor. The North attitude towards Negro troops was
mainly positive, while the South did not want Negros to serve in the Confederate Army. It wasn t until
the Confederates were running low on men did they allow Negros to serve. The Negros serving in the
North felt it as their duty to serve and support the cause for their own freedom.
2. General Ulysses S. Grant was a brilliant strategist and seemed to be able to plan out movements in
advance. The people of the North thought the tremendous casualties to be horrendous. But Grant knew
that the South s casualties to be much more than the North s. Grant did have the support and trust of
the North though and his record did well to deserve that support. His commanders trusted his
completely. Grant s idea of Total War was to break down the infrastructure of the South. The Siege of
Petersburg which lasted almost years, then the capture of Richmond is among the battles Grant
engaged in while south of the James

The Cultural Impact Of Electricity And The World We Live
In today s world nothing is more important than the gadgets we use on a every day to day basis. What
we take for granted sometimes is the thing we use most and most importantly we use to charge
everything most of the time is some type of electricity. I hope to provide a clear and concise paper that
details and gives the cultural impact of electricity and the world we live. This paper will hit on three
topics reconstruction to the beginning of where man first began to harness electricity, how man used
this electricity to change the course of history as we know it, and the positives as well as the negatives
of electricity and the world we live in.
Electricity is a form of energy involving the flow of electrons. All matter is made up of atoms, and an
atom has a center, called a nucleus. The nucleus contains positively charged particles called protons
and uncharged particles called neutrons (Joseph, 2002)The nucleus of an atom is surrounded by
negatively charged particles called electrons. The negative charge of an electron is equal to the
positive charge of a proton, and the number of electrons in an atom is usually equal to the number of
protons (Joseph, 2002).When the balancing force between protons and electrons is upset by an outside
force, an atom may gain or lose an electron. When electrons are lost from an atom, the free movement
of these electrons constitutes an electric current (Joseph, 2002). To understand electricity one must
know that it is not an invention but a

2012 Penny Essay Conclusion
Summary: Each penny had individual measurements taken. The 1984 penny had more mass than the
2012 penny, which was interesting to discover because the gold coloring added mass to the penny. In
addition, all of the pennies stayed relatively the same in terms of mass, the hundredths place. The
weight difference shows that the pennies mass changed during the changes. Finally, the gold penny
had the largest density. The silver penny had the second largest density, and the copper penny had the
least largest density. The changes of the penny added density and mass each time. With the
information, it appears that the mass increased by .03 after each change.
Conclusion
The purpose of this lab was to transmute a simple penny from copper to silver to gold using ordinary
chemical and physical changes. To transmute a copper penny into silver and gold, two trials were
performed in order to transmute two of the pennies. The 1985 penny, which remained copper, was
unaffected. The 1984 and 2012 pennies were each turned into silver. Lastly, the 2012 penny was
turned silver and then into gold using an extra change. Since the pennies showed a transmutation, the
purpose was proven to be accurate. Since the 1985 penny stayed the same, measurements were taken
immediately. The 1985 penny had a thickness of 0.28 centimeters. ... Show more content on

penny was 2.46 grams, with the diameter being 1.89 centimeters. Looking at the results, the 2012
penny was the least thick of the group. In addition, the 2012 penny was more heavy than the 1985

Beliefs Vs The Iroquois Confederacy
Iroquois history, culture, beliefs vs. The Bible
The Iroquois, otherwise known as the Haudenosaunee, were also known to the French as the Iroquois
League and then later as the Iroquois Confederacy , and to the English as the Five Nations . The
Iroquois Confederacy started in the 15th century or earlier by bringing together five distinct nations in
the southern Great Lakes area into The Great League of Peace . Each nation had a distinct language, a
territory and a function. The Iroquois extended into Canada, westward along the Great Lakes and
down both sides of the Allegheny Mountains into Virginia and Kentucky and into the Ohio Valley. The
League is governed by a Grand Council, an assembly of fifty chiefs or sachems, each representing ...

God said, Let there be light, and there was light. He separated the light from the darkness he called the
light day, and the darkness he called night. God said, Let there be a vault between the waters to

Angels In America Play Analysis
The play made me feel several emotions. For the most part, I sympathized with the majority of the
characters. I especially felt an emotional attachment to Prior and Harper. Both of these characters
needed to be taken care of, but they were ultimately abandoned. Harper seems confident that she will
be fine on her own, but the thought of her being alone still saddens me. I was also happy to read a play
that dealt with Mormonism. I grew up as a Mormon and I am interested when a piece of work
addresses that particular form of Christianity. Mormonism is not addressed in theatre and
entertainment very often, so I found that particular element of the play interesting. It is clear that AIDS
is an important subject in Angels in America: Millennium

Technology Is The Technology For The Nextgen
Blockchain technology came into existence in 2011 with Bitcoins, the digital cryptocurrency. At the
onset, Bitcoins were used mainly in the darknet and thus developed a shady controversial image. But,
with 15.8 million (Blockchain Info , n.d.) Bitcoins in existence at this moment, they are surely gaining
popularity. It isn t really this crypto currency, but the underlying Blockchain Technology engine has
huge potential in the future. Recently, there is an increasing distrust in the centralized systems like the
Government, banks, other technology companies, etc. This has resulted in disintermediation in
numerous industries like music, healthcare, ecommerce, etc. In this prospective no middle man world,
Blockchain is liking to be the driving force for almost all the transaction based system. Also, with big

Manet Essay
Manet
Much of the art of Manet reflects the developments going on in Paris in the 1860s and 1870s. The
rebuilding of Paris was being supervised by Baron Haussman, as much of the old medieval centre of
the city was being destroyed so that the new city could be rebuilt. In his book The painting of modern
life TJ Clark argues that modern art of the 20th century evolves from the art produced by Manet
during this period of great change in Paris. Manet s scenes of Parisian cafes, bars and streets reflected
the new Paris. Manet s work influenced the impressionist painters, who were a strong influences on
the painting of the 20th century, so in this sense Manet s painting is the first modern art that emerged

It was one of the largest efforts to rebuild the centre of a city since ancient times. While there was the
glamour of the many entertainments in the city, there was also a darker side of poverty, crime and
prostitution. The city with its pristine exterior, its soiled underside, its hollow entertainments provided
the makings of an enormous duality: a two sided mirror...a spectacle and secret life. (Bromber 1996:
62) One of the key parts to this design by Haussmann were the wide tree lined avenues, which
replaced the smaller streets that had previously existed in the city. Haussmann s grand design for the
reconstruction of Paris was being carried forward by the Third Republic, and the city was now laced
with wide, tree lined avenues. (Schneider 1972: 134) In fact, the modern city of Paris is based on the
city that was built by Haussmann and the modern perception of Paris as being the artistic and cultural
centre that it is known for, is chiefly based on Haussman s design and re modelling of the city.
The art of Edouard Manet depicted modern life in the new Paris, as advocated by the writer
Baudelaire. Charles Pierre Baudelaire was a writer in nineteenth century Paris, a contemporary of
Manet, who knew Manet personally, and who wrote about the idea of modern life. Baudelaire
encouraged the artists of the day to paint modern scenes, such as looking at the world around them for
inspiration, rather than turning to scenes from the

The Tragedy Of The Family
Families are bound to encounter stressful challenges, and it is important for them to be equipped with
the knowledge of handling a crisis. Life itself is dynamic and unpredictable. Although the family can
plan to avoid some stressful circumstances, others often emerge from nowhere, unexpectedly.
Consequently, the family may find itself grieving because of a number of unforeseen circumstances.
Grief denotes a natural response to a loss. There are different loses that can trigger grief in the family.
Examples include death, loss of a job, loss of health, financial difficulties, miscarriage, loss of a

Again, it is essential to point out that there is no timetable for healing or grieving; it takes time, and it
should not be forced or hurried. Some can heal within a few weeks, but others may need months or
years. Grieving is a slow and gradual process, and it is vital to be patient and allow the grieving
process to unfold naturally (Maclejewski et al., 2007). There are a few myths associated with grieving.
One of them says that a person ought to be strong in the face of a loss. Feeling lonely, frightened or
sad in the wake of a loss is a normal reaction, and it does not show that the grieving person is weak
(Maclejewski et al., 2007). Hiding the feeling is not helpful; it is healthy to grief. Another myth
suggests that the pain will go away by ignoring it; it is vital to face the truth. Running away from it
won t help; in fact, it will lengthen the grieving process. Additionally, other fallaciously thinks that
those who do not cry are not hurt by the loss. That is not true; some people may grief but not
necessarily by crying; therefore, judging them because they did not cry, is wrong.
Elizabeth Kubler Ross engineered the five stage grieving model; she based her theory on the feeling
terminally ill patients had (Maclejewski et al., 2007). However, this model has been found to be useful

Question 1: What were the advantages and risks involved in pursuing Spanning s recruitment plan?

However in this case, there exists a standardized and published code of ethics created by the ICMA to
provide consistency and uniformity with regard to professional local government management. In an
evolving and contradictory political climate such as that which existed in the town of Dover, the
principles expressed in this code of ethics serve as a fair and objective guideline by which difficult
decisions can be based on. Therefore, there should generally not be circumstances where ethical
considerations are sacrificed on the basis of a given individual or group s perception of the best
possible outcome for the community. Much like a constitution, the ICMA Code of Ethics gives
decision makers a tangible reference and provides a scale of ethical justice on which conflicting
opinions can be weighed against each other.

Research Paper: The Truth about the Model Minority
Hey you re good at math , Hey you re dumb for an Asian , Well of course he s good at that, he s Asian
. These are the phrases that defined my childhood and still are relevant to my daily life. These are
phrases are a part of what society calls today The Model Minority Myth . This all started during World
War II, where Chinese and Japanese Americans adopted a plan to promote assimilation with the
American people. With this plan, they succeeded in proving to America, that they worked harder, were
more focused on education to gain their success. While the other minorities protest to get civil rights,

the end of the world for them, it could set up a nightmarish future for the Asian children. Those Asians
are left in the dark, those Asians are looking at long and dark road with no aid what so ever. By putting
all Asians into one category, is no different than the racial discrimination of the 1960s in the United
States of America towards African Americans. Although not as bad, the general idea is the same. In
today s society, where we promote equality and fairness, how are we going to let the Model Minority
run rampant? Although the Model Minority may seem positive, it has dire consequences. The Model
Minority myth not only effects the education system but altercations with the law as well. There is the
story of Kuanchang Kao, an intoxicated Chinese American fatally shot in 1997 by police threatened
by his martial arts moves. (Why Ferguson Should Matter to Asian Americans) As said in the article,
this incident parallels the incident that has happened in Ferguson but did not receive national attention
that the Ferguson case has gotten. This is mostly like due to the Model Minority. As it puts Asian
Americans in a spotlight of success and makes Asian Americans disregard the validity of their
struggles. Jack Linshi says that due to the Model Minority the idea of the Asian American struggle has

Compare And Contrast Utilitarian, Libertarian, And...
Comparison and Contrast of Utilitarian, libertarian, and deontological ethical theories Ethical theories
are based on previous explained ethical principles each emphasizing different aspects of an ethical
dilemma leading to a resolution based on the particular theory guidelines. Utilitarian theory is found in
the ability to predict the consequences of the action and so the choice that yields the most benefit to
most individuals is the ethically correct choice. This theory allows for the comparison of the predicted
solutions (The Blackwell Guide to Ethical Theory, 2013). The outcomes will look at the results and
the positive or negative effects. It is at this point that these actions are considered to be right or wrong.
Goodness is when there is an emphasis on promoting activities that will create happiness versus
despair. The outcome and the levels of joy will determine if specific actions are considered to be
morally correct. This theory mainly focuses on the ends. Deontological theory states that people
should adhere to their duties and obligations when analysing an ethical problem, hence expression of
the view to either forbid or permit actions (Kolb, 2008). Deontological theory does not provide the
rationale for deciding individual duties and may bring about conflict of duty. Deontological views

Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit
Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly
mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not
identify as sin that do not feel right?
Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means.
Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the
Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and
applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of
frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so
quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should
not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ.
Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should
identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring
to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions.
In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the
people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relates to his use of inheriting the Kingdom of God metaphor in verse 21 since often times in the
Bible we are referred to as children of God. This does not mean we will actually inherit the Kingdom,
but that we will just receive eternal life. Since Paul calls the Galatians brothers and sisters, he is
reminding them they too are apart of the family of Christ and have been called to live by the Spirit and
refrain from sin. Furthermore, we are to serve and love one another and take up the characteristics and
attributes that the Spirit calls us to

Causes Of The Glorious Revolution
The Glorious Revolution of 1688 was a time of enlightened thinking and establishing a new principle
of dividing power within the monarchy. With the emergence of philosophical thinkers, such as John
Locke, the idea of separation of powers and rationalism formed the foundation for our modern use of a
constitutional democracy. During this time period, James II was just expelled from the throne, with
William III and Mary taking over the throne. James II was a Catholic absolute monarch who was
religiously intolerant. James II violated the Test Act, which were a series of English penal laws that
served as a religious test for public office and imposed various civil disabilities on Roman Catholics.
He did this by giving government and university jobs to Catholics. Fear of the Catholic monarchy led
to the expulsion of James II, which then led to the beginning of the Glorious Revolution. The Glorious
Revolution was a time of unity within the English Parliament. This Revolution established the
principle that power should be divided between the King and the Parliament, similar to a checks and
balances system. This was established to ensure that one individual could no longer oppressively rule
over the monarchy. During 1688, James II was just expelled from the position of ruler of England.

California Prison System
The California prison system was created in response to the increased amount of criminal activity that
sparked during the Gold Rush years. Prior to the Gold Rush, California had prided itself on being a
land of health, beauty, and opportunity (Bookspan, xviii). However, immigration and population
growth surged, especially amongst foreign convicts and aliens , resulting in increased crime. At first, it
was decided that punishment for small crimes would be a beating by whip while punishment for
serious crimes, like robbery or murder, would be hanging (Kidport). After becoming a state in 1850,
the California governor John McDougal reacted to this method of punishment by beginning what is
known as the California Prison System. The first prison within California was San Quentin, which
began to receive inmates in 1854, next was Folsom State Prison in 1880, then California Correctional
Institution in 1933, California Institution for Men in 1941, and California Institute for Women in 1952
as well as multiple California state prisons that have opened since then in cities such as San Diego,
Sacramento, Chowchilla, Avenal, Corcoran, Susanville, Vacaville, Crescent City, and many more
(California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation). The early California prison systems were
very much influenced by the Auburn prison system, from the Auburn Correctional Facility in Auburn,
New York. This system imposed solitary confinement to silence prisoners and promote meditations,

minimum expenditure with least labor services. WSNs works entirely on sensors which sense physical
as well as environmental conditions such as temperature, sound, pressure, noise etc. We have come
along with lots and lots of services in Industrial monitoring, health care monitoring, and
environmental monitoring using WSNs. I came across an interesting journal of Intelligent Parking Lot
Application using Wireless Sensor Networks by Sangwon Lee, Dukhee Yoon and Amitabha Ghosh,
2008.
The writers[1] has criticized lots of journals where people tried using a different kind of sensors like
magnetometers, video cameras, microphones, motion detectors, light ... Show more content on

The writers further explained the detection algorithms for both the sensors: for magnetometers, a raw
data is obtained which went through 6 different mathematical steps including oscillation prevention,
noise reduction, and accuracy detection. This will finally give 5 state machine stages which will
correspond to the track of local minimums and maximums and will depict if a vehicle is passed.
Ultrasonic sensors, works simply on distance measurement from object to sensors. A flowchart was
shown which worked on 2 important factors i.e. Distance_threshold(DiT) and
Duration_threshold(DuT). Both DiT and DuT values are dependent on the placement of sensors in the
parking lot and if is less than required, a counter is activated until desired value and as the value
exceeds, a vehicle is detected.
Now comes the experimental results value which were divided into four different sections: Sensing
experiment, they conducted experimentations on all the 6 sensors loaded on SBT80 of which visible
light, temperature, and acoustic sensor does not change at all and difference can only be seen in
magnetometers, ultrasonic, infrared light sensors used with laser pointers; Ultrasonic Sensors, they
attached 2 sensors, SRF02 on the ceiling, one for going up and another for going down cars. Sensor

A Digital Forensic Examiner Is On The Receiving End Of The...
A cellular phone rings in a Northern Virginia suburban home; it is 3:00 AM. A digital forensic
examiner is on the receiving end of the phone call. The local police department is requesting the
examiner s expertise and his state of the art forensic lab. An individual has just been arrested on child
pornography charges, as well as, possible drug trafficking. The suspect is believed to be the ringleader
in a drug cartel so this has the potential to be a massive investigation. This digital examiner was once
a Northern Virginia police officer who was also a digital forensic examiner for the force. He recently
established his laboratory and has recently procured the local police department as a client. Although
this is his first case with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

examiner was thoroughly impressed with his team s conduct; they ensured all policies and procedures
that the Group 4 Firm had put in place were followed step by step. The officer has worked hard for
many years to get to this point in his career. In addition to his due diligence and efforts, he had hired
the right company to help him start his business. The story above illustrates what can happen when a
laboratory is built from the ground up with the Group 4 Firm s guidance. As with the forensic
investigator described, XYZ, Inc. is in the process of opening a new digital forensics laboratory and is
hoping, with Group 4 Firm s support, their personnel and new facility will achieve success. One may
ask what it takes to put a digital forensics laboratory together. With its proven track record, the Group
4 Firm knows what it takes to get the job done. The Group 4 Firm will assist XYZ, Inc. by proposing a
plan for a 100 person facility that will work efficiently. In ascertaining the scope of XYZ, Inc. s
investigative services, the Group 4 Firm s proposal is comprised of numerous considerations,

Female Foeticide
female foeticide/ infanticide
The term female foeticide means killing the female foetus in the mother s womb. How cruel? The
practice has been followed in India for ages, a country that once described its women as godessess.
For this reason, Indian women will soon get extinct. Surprised? The most active part is being played
by the women themselves why? Just for the mere want of a boy, mothers don t feel bad in
strangulating their daughters in their wombs. Can anyone be more cruel? In India, sex ratio stands at a
paltry 933:1000, i.e., 67 women short of every 1,000 males. Can you imagine how bad the situation is
in the coming times, the boys of this country will have to stand single because there will be no girls.

National Girl Child Day The Voice of Tomorrow
Forty Six years ago, on January 24, India got her First Lady Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi. The
nation of male dominance stood standstill in the awe of the power of this one lady whose
determination spoke volumes. Today, India stands high in the race of urbanization but in the genre of
social development, it is away behind. It is an irony in this country that where mother is worshipped as
Mother Divine, there is domestic violence. In a country where Kumari Puja is done, there is female
foeticide.
It is in this need to raise public awareness, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government
declared to observe January 24 as the National Girl Child Day in 2009. This day will be celebrated
every year till there is a gender balance in the country and till the time we match the required sex ratio,
said Renuka Chowdhury, then Minister of State for Women and Child Development1.
According to a United Nations survey in 2007, about 2000 unborn girls are illegally aborted each day
in India. The national average of sex ratio is 927 females to 1000 males with states like Punjab (799)
and Delhi (850) being the worst2. With this fearing declining rate, the gender gap seems difficult to be
achieved. The importance of the Girl Child should be on the national agenda for nation building and

The Impact Of National Relations Labor Act ( Nlra ) And...
Labor Legislation in the 20th Century
Much of what we know about the improvements in the workforce came from 20th century
advancements with the workforce that we know today. Important developments came in the form of
methodology and data collection efforts. The 20th century was a remarkable period for the American
workers. Despite the initial stages of labor management, working conditions, wages and benefits
improved over the last century with the workforce increasing six fold over the period (Gould, 1986).
This research will focus on impacts of National Relations Labor Act (NLRA) and the Fair Labor
Standards Act (FLSA) enacted in the 20th century, including major circumstances that led to the intent
of the legislation. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The law was enacted on July 5, 1935 (Gould, 1986).
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
Considered to be a landmark, in 1938 President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Fair Labor Standards
Act. The nation was experiencing social and economic development of judicial opposition and
depression. This law set national minimum wages and maximum hours workers can be required to
work. Incorporated into this law are overtime pay and established standards to prevent child labor
abuse. Consequently, in 1963 an amendment was made to this law, which prohibited wage
discrimination against women.
Implications Surrounding the Law
NLRA was considered to be the law that affected the relationship among the federal government and
private enterprise; this measure considerably increased the government s powers to arbitrate in labor
relations. Prior to this law, employers had the emancipation to chastise, spy on, question for no reason
and fire union members. Work stoppages commenced in the mid 1930 s (Gould, 1986), which
included striking by factory and industrial occupational workers. By the time the strikes came to a
halt, America had a more conservative Congress. This Congress led to balance the power between
employers and unions. While the Wagner Act addressed only unfair labor practices by employers, it
was added to the enactment of

Career And Technical Education Programs
Career and Technical Education programs, known in the profession simply as CTE, provide students
an opportunity to prepare for a wide range of careers. Students are exposed many disciplines including
health care, agriculture, business, and graphic design. Through these programs students get to explore
various career paths and get hands on training, which will help them to be more employable as they
transition into the workforce.
Holland (2013) notes that, Despite stubbornly high unemployment, many employers complain that
they can t find qualified candidates. Often, the mismatch results from applicants inadequate
communication skills.
As Holland points out, the need for skilled workers is extensive. In a time when unemployment rates
are high there are plenty of people willing to work, but because of a shortage in literacy skills and
experience, there are not many people able to work in these positions. Students who participate in
CTE programs may be more prepared to enter the workforce because of the hands on experience they
receive in the classroom and through co curricular programs such as DECA or FFA.
In addition to not having experience, students are not employable because of their lack of
communication skills. Students who are not literate are not able to communicate in writing with
clients, coworkers, or a supervisor. An inability to express oneself effectively and coherently will
render an individual unemployable. Why students are unable to

Chaos In Macbeth
In the Jacobean Era, it was believed that the universe was governed by a natural order and when this
came disrupted everything would descend into chaos. Corrupt views of right and wrong allowed for
the rule of God to be disobeyed and subsequently, turmoil ensued. Macbeth, written by Shakespeare,
portrays characters in a crisis of morality during a time of universal imbalance. In the face of evil and
chaos, human relationships become strained. Uncontrolled ambition between man and wife, lack of a
stable and righteous leader within a country, and the erosion of a sense of self when in a battle with
consciousness leads to destruction. Balanced human interactions are unable to prosper in the face of
evil and chaos; however, nature will always prevail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It becomes obvious that the Macbeths are close and have insight into each other s character. Early on
within the play, they are equal in love and ambition and are willing to commit unspeakable crimes in
order to please each other. They share a joint passion in wanting to rule Scotland and are blind to the
possible consequences of their actions. When they plot and carry out the murder of Duncan, the
Macbeths attain the power they so desperately craved and it eventually starts to pull them a part. Their
corrupt views of right and wrong not only disrupt both the chain of being and the natural order of the
universe but also, their marriage. Macbeth is willing to give everything in his life in order to maintain
his position as King. His hunger for power and growing ambition outweighs his desire to please his
wife, thus creating inequality within their relationship. The destruction of natural order that is a result
of Duncan s murder is paralleled in the destruction of the Macbeths marriage. Further demonstrating
the unnatural elements present within this play is the gender role reversal between Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth. Lady Macbeth s ambition to attain the kingship can be seen in her desire to rid of her
feminine traits. She wants the spirits to tend on mortal thoughts, unsex [her] here, (1.5.44) and come

Book Review: Julius Caesar s The Conquest of Gaul
[underline or italicize titles of books]
Between the years 58 B.C.E and 50 B.C.E., Gaius Julius Caesar conquered almost the whole of France
as well as Belgium, Switzerland and parts of Germany; he also found time to invade Britain twice.
Julius Caesar was a Roman statesman and general who played a critical role in the demise of the
Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. He amassed great power through clever political
alliances and military victories. Caesar recorded his conquests in great detail which provides valuable
historical text to refer to; however it must be kept in mind that it is a clear piece of propaganda. As the
saying goes, the winner gets to write history. Nonetheless, Caesar s writings are a unique firsthand
source on his conquests in Gaul and the various Gallic tribes he came up against.
Central themes evident in his memoir are war, devotion and persuasion. Caesar was clear to outline in
his commentaries how each of his campaigns was in the best interest of the republic. He depicted
himself as a loyal servant to the Roman people and therefore portrayed his actions and decisions in the
most favorable way possible. Those who would have read his work at the time would have felt
inspired and consequently considered him a hero. Caesar s books were intended to aid future
historians in telling his story accurately and [in a way

The project focuses on the cost effective enhancement of enterprise network security via OpenFlow
controlled switches and specialized SDN applications running on a controller. The project will
investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack,
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed
through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented
over SDN.
3.) Objectives:
The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day
technologies.
1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service
attacks.
2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will
enable more options to enhance the security.
The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking
(SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will
be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service,
Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an
administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to
configure all the networking equipment separately with the

Minoan Civilization Research Paper
The Minoan Civilization and Its Disappearance
Minoans were the first Europeans to have a written language which is known as Linear A. The
Minoans date back to around 2000 B.C.E until around the year 1400B.C.E. There was, if fact, never a
people who called themselves the Minoans . The civilization of Ancient Crete was given this name by
the 19th century British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans, who, when he began excavating at Knossos in
1900, thought he had discovered the palace of the legendary king Minos, who appears in several
Greek myths.(TimeMaps) I believe the Minoan civilization disappeared due to three main factors,
tsunami, foreign invaders, and volcanic eruption, based on evidence of deep sea fossils being found on
Minoan soil, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now Thera s eruption wasn t the end of the Minoan civilization, it merely marked the start to a fifty
year decline and ultimate destruction of Minos. The Minoans had built their prosperous city on one of
the most dangerous islands on earth, next to the volcano Thera. The Theran eruption was one of
largest in human history blasting more than 10 million tons of ash, gas, and rock 25 miles into the
atmosphere. Incredibly, despite Crete s close proximity to the volcano, the debris from Thera largely
missed the major Minoan towns.(The Fall of the Minoans) Small algae fossils were found high on the
cliffs of Thera. This algae was only observed to be found in shallow waters. This lead scientist to
believe that Thera held a small sea within the crater. Had there been a sea within Thera the shape of
the volcano would be much different than previously expected. With this different shape in mind the
volcano could produce far more smoke than ever predicted before. The eruption caused plumes of
deadly and dense clouds of volcanic ash. These clouds spread over a vast region, causing poor
harvests, climate changes, and souring political relations for years to come The eruption seemed to
also cause the tsunami that would later hit the Island of Crete. Carbon dating of a cow bone that was
found in a layer of sea sediment was deposited there the same time Thera

The audit would likely take a longer period of time to complete than the promised two and half weeks
(the audit team completed the audit in this time frame in 2007) due to a) the expectation that extra

economic downturn; b) some accounting policies had been changed, which led to more time required
from senior associates to help guide junior associates and co op students through the company s new

The audit team did not receive necessary information from Spector in a timely manner. It was not until
the third day of the audit that the team began receiving the needed information.
For two days of the audit, Noth and Patel were likely not making any contributions during the time
they should have been working from home (about 20 hours combined).
Michaels had to restart 25 hours of work due to client revisions to forecasted financial information.
The senior associates leading the audit refused to allow idle personnel at the firm to assist in speeding
up the audit for fear that adding team member unfamiliar with Spector would cause further delays.

The And The Colonists Of The Americas
The original motivations for the Spaniards going to the New World were to spread Christianity and
grow wealthy; however, when they arrived, the actions of the Spaniards against the natives of the
Americas did not reflect these original goals and led to unanticipated consequences. One such
unexpected consequence was a reliance on slave labor. In order to accomplish the work necessary to
make the profits that the Spaniards had expected, they turned to the natives as a work force. This need
for laborers led the Spanish to enslave the natives, which led to conflict and cruelty, which went
against the initial goal of spreading Christianity; if the prospective converts are being mistreated by
those hoping to do the converting, the conversion itself becomes much more difficult due to the
negative relationship. The Spaniards strongly believed that it was their sacred duty to save the
faithless natives of the Americas by introducing them to God, and so they did all they could to see this
happen, despite the negative impacts on the relationship between the natives and the Spaniards. This
also made it more difficult to easily exploit the resources of the region against the wishes of the
natives, because the growing bitterness between the Spanish and the natives made it impossible to
successfully work together in an economic setting in the same way as the Dutch and the French. Thus,
the actions of the Spaniards upon reaching the New World worked mostly against their original goals

Methods Of Aggressive Accounting By Issuing Financial...
Facts
Several companies have performed methods of aggressive accounting by issuing financial statements
to exaggerate their value. Either over inflating revenues, assets or cash flows, or understating any
debts and expenses are examples of this type of fraud. These accounting swindles allow companies to
have an efficient public appearance to investors and potential creditors. Nevertheless, according to a
recent journal article from (Chen Huang, 2013), these deceitful activities led to abnormal stock returns
and unfavorable open market purchases and repurchases.
The statements from the financial disclosures were so unclear, yet seemed too good to be true.
Consequently, a wide number of corporations received complaints from investors under the regards of
the published financial statements. Nonetheless, these inaccuracies, whether reported or unreported,
led corporations to go into debt with both creditors and investors.
One major instance of this occurrence is the Enron Bankruptcy. In the case of Enron Corporation, the
accountants hid most of its debt, expenses and liabilities from the world. Some transactions and forms
of debt were also not reported at fair value. Accountants and managers considered these duties as legal
between the 1990s and early 2000s since it was not against the GAAP (Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles). Furthermore, according to the article, Enron ten years later: Lessons to
remember, even during the financial examinations, the auditors of Enron

  • 2. Erik Erikson s Social Stages Of Development Erik Erikson was born in Germany to a Danish mother and three years later, a German stepfather. He never knew his real father from Denmark. Growing up in Germany in a Jewish environment was sometimes difficult for him because of his Nordic features among his brown eyes, brown haired peers. Erikson was largely influenced by Sigmund Freud and expanded upon his Human Development theory with his own, the Psych Social Stages of Development. Erikson moved to America in 1933 with his family to Boston, becoming the first child analyst in that area at Harvard Medical School. He taught other institutions such as Yale and UC Berkeley. During his long career, he wrote about a variety of topics ranging from issues of race and sexuality to influential figures in history. Erikson s Psyco Social Stages of Development was extremely influential the field of developmental psychology because it laid down stages for ages to come. There are eight stages that span the human life expectancy. The first stage is called Trust vs. Mistrust, which deals with infants. The infant is developing trust within the mother and parental figures and with that trust, stability is either established or not. The mistrust that infants may develop comes from a lack of stability with their caregivers. The second stage is Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt, between the ages of a year and a half and three. Children are either encouraged or criticized by their parents as they seek independence. The autonomy comes from being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Civil War and Sectionalism 1. Approximately 180,000 Negros served in the Union during the Civil War. The Negro Soldier was overall a good one. One example was at the Assault on Fort Wagner, South Carolina. The 54th Massachusetts Colored troops led the assault and scaled the fort s parapet and were only driven back after brutal hand to hand fighting. The Negro faced some discrimination in the Union Army in areas such as pay. It wasn t until June 15th, 1864 that the Congress granted equal pay to Negro troops. Several Negro soldiers earned the Medal of Honor. The North attitude towards Negro troops was mainly positive, while the South did not want Negros to serve in the Confederate Army. It wasn t until the Confederates were running low on men did they allow Negros to serve. The Negros serving in the North felt it as their duty to serve and support the cause for their own freedom. 2. General Ulysses S. Grant was a brilliant strategist and seemed to be able to plan out movements in advance. The people of the North thought the tremendous casualties to be horrendous. But Grant knew that the South s casualties to be much more than the North s. Grant did have the support and trust of the North though and his record did well to deserve that support. His commanders trusted his completely. Grant s idea of Total War was to break down the infrastructure of the South. The Siege of Petersburg which lasted almost years, then the capture of Richmond is among the battles Grant engaged in while south of the James ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Cultural Impact Of Electricity And The World We Live In today s world nothing is more important than the gadgets we use on a every day to day basis. What we take for granted sometimes is the thing we use most and most importantly we use to charge everything most of the time is some type of electricity. I hope to provide a clear and concise paper that details and gives the cultural impact of electricity and the world we live. This paper will hit on three topics reconstruction to the beginning of where man first began to harness electricity, how man used this electricity to change the course of history as we know it, and the positives as well as the negatives of electricity and the world we live in. Electricity is a form of energy involving the flow of electrons. All matter is made up of atoms, and an atom has a center, called a nucleus. The nucleus contains positively charged particles called protons and uncharged particles called neutrons (Joseph, 2002)The nucleus of an atom is surrounded by negatively charged particles called electrons. The negative charge of an electron is equal to the positive charge of a proton, and the number of electrons in an atom is usually equal to the number of protons (Joseph, 2002).When the balancing force between protons and electrons is upset by an outside force, an atom may gain or lose an electron. When electrons are lost from an atom, the free movement of these electrons constitutes an electric current (Joseph, 2002). To understand electricity one must know that it is not an invention but a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. 2012 Penny Essay Conclusion Summary: Each penny had individual measurements taken. The 1984 penny had more mass than the 2012 penny, which was interesting to discover because the gold coloring added mass to the penny. In addition, all of the pennies stayed relatively the same in terms of mass, the hundredths place. The weight difference shows that the pennies mass changed during the changes. Finally, the gold penny had the largest density. The silver penny had the second largest density, and the copper penny had the least largest density. The changes of the penny added density and mass each time. With the information, it appears that the mass increased by .03 after each change. Conclusion The purpose of this lab was to transmute a simple penny from copper to silver to gold using ordinary chemical and physical changes. To transmute a copper penny into silver and gold, two trials were performed in order to transmute two of the pennies. The 1985 penny, which remained copper, was unaffected. The 1984 and 2012 pennies were each turned into silver. Lastly, the 2012 penny was turned silver and then into gold using an extra change. Since the pennies showed a transmutation, the purpose was proven to be accurate. Since the 1985 penny stayed the same, measurements were taken immediately. The 1985 penny had a thickness of 0.28 centimeters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 2012 penny was held, with tongs, in the hottest part of the bunsen burner. The mass of the gold penny was 2.46 grams, with the diameter being 1.89 centimeters. Looking at the results, the 2012 penny was the least thick of the group. The Iroquois Confederacy started in the 15th century or earlier by bringing together five distinct nations in the southern Great Lakes area into The Great League of Peace . Each nation had a distinct language, a territory and a function. I especially felt an emotional attachment to Prior and Harper. Both of these characters needed to be taken care of, but they were ultimately abandoned. Harper seems confident that she will be fine on her own, but the thought of her being alone still saddens me. I was also happy to read a play that dealt with Mormonism. I grew up as a Mormon and I am interested when a piece of work addresses that particular form of Christianity. Mormonism is not addressed in theatre and entertainment very often, so I found that particular element of the play interesting. • 10. Manet Essay Manet Much of the art of Manet reflects the developments going on in Paris in the 1860s and 1870s. The rebuilding of Paris was being supervised by Baron Haussman, as much of the old medieval centre of the city was being destroyed so that the new city could be rebuilt. In his book The painting of modern life TJ Clark argues that modern art of the 20th century evolves from the art produced by Manet during this period of great change in Paris. Manet s scenes of Parisian cafes, bars and streets reflected the new Paris. Manet s work influenced the impressionist painters, who were a strong influences on the painting of the 20th century, so in this sense Manet s painting is the first modern art that emerged from the creation of the new Paris ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was one of the largest efforts to rebuild the centre of a city since ancient times. While there was the glamour of the many entertainments in the city, there was also a darker side of poverty, crime and prostitution. The city with its pristine exterior, its soiled underside, its hollow entertainments provided the makings of an enormous duality: a two sided mirror...a spectacle and secret life. (Bromber 1996: 62) One of the key parts to this design by Haussmann were the wide tree lined avenues, which replaced the smaller streets that had previously existed in the city. Haussmann s grand design for the reconstruction of Paris was being carried forward by the Third Republic, and the city was now laced with wide, tree lined avenues. (Schneider 1972: 134) In fact, the modern city of Paris is based on the city that was built by Haussmann and the modern perception of Paris as being the artistic and cultural centre that it is known for, is chiefly based on Haussman s design and re modelling of the city. The art of Edouard Manet depicted modern life in the new Paris, as advocated by the writer Baudelaire. Charles Pierre Baudelaire was a writer in nineteenth century Paris, a contemporary of Manet, who knew Manet personally, and who wrote about the idea of modern life. Again, it is essential to point out that there is no timetable for healing or grieving; it takes time, and it should not be forced or hurried. Some can heal within a few weeks, but others may need months or years. Grieving is a slow and gradual process, and it is vital to be patient and allow the grieving process to unfold naturally (Maclejewski et al., 2007). There are a few myths associated with grieving. One of them says that a person ought to be strong in the face of a loss. Feeling lonely, frightened or sad in the wake of a loss is a normal reaction, and it does not show that the grieving person is weak (Maclejewski et al., 2007). Hiding the feeling is not helpful; it is healthy to grief. Another myth suggests that the pain will go away by ignoring it; it is vital to face the truth. Running away from it won t help; in fact, it will lengthen the grieving process. Additionally, other fallaciously thinks that those who do not cry are not hurt by the loss. That is not true; some people may grief but not necessarily by crying; therefore, judging them because they did not cry, is wrong. Therefore, there should generally not be circumstances where ethical considerations are sacrificed on the basis of a given individual or group s perception of the best possible outcome for the community. Much like a constitution, the ICMA Code of Ethics gives decision makers a tangible reference and provides a scale of ethical justice on which conflicting opinions can be weighed against each other. These are the phrases that defined my childhood and still are relevant to my daily life. These are phrases are a part of what society calls today The Model Minority Myth . This all started during World War II, where Chinese and Japanese Americans adopted a plan to promote assimilation with the American people. By putting all Asians into one category, is no different than the racial discrimination of the 1960s in the United States of America towards African Americans. Although not as bad, the general idea is the same. In today s society, where we promote equality and fairness, how are we going to let the Model Minority run rampant? Although the Model Minority may seem positive, it has dire consequences. The Model Minority myth not only effects the education system but altercations with the law as well. There is the story of Kuanchang Kao, an intoxicated Chinese American fatally shot in 1997 by police threatened by his martial arts moves. • 17. Compare And Contrast Utilitarian, Libertarian, And... Comparison and Contrast of Utilitarian, libertarian, and deontological ethical theories Ethical theories are based on previous explained ethical principles each emphasizing different aspects of an ethical dilemma leading to a resolution based on the particular theory guidelines. Utilitarian theory is found in the ability to predict the consequences of the action and so the choice that yields the most benefit to most individuals is the ethically correct choice. This theory allows for the comparison of the predicted solutions (The Blackwell Guide to Ethical Theory, 2013). The outcomes will look at the results and the positive or negative effects. It is at this point that these actions are considered to be right or wrong. Goodness is when there is an emphasis on promoting activities that will create happiness versus despair. The outcome and the levels of joy will determine if specific actions are considered to be morally correct. This theory mainly focuses on the ends. Deontological theory states that people should adhere to their duties and obligations when analysing an ethical problem, hence expression of the view to either forbid or permit actions (Kolb, 2008). Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ. Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions. In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 19. Causes Of The Glorious Revolution The Glorious Revolution of 1688 was a time of enlightened thinking and establishing a new principle of dividing power within the monarchy. With the emergence of philosophical thinkers, such as John Locke, the idea of separation of powers and rationalism formed the foundation for our modern use of a constitutional democracy. During this time period, James II was just expelled from the throne, with William III and Mary taking over the throne. James II was a Catholic absolute monarch who was religiously intolerant. James II violated the Test Act, which were a series of English penal laws that served as a religious test for public office and imposed various civil disabilities on Roman Catholics. He did this by giving government and university jobs to Catholics. Fear of the Catholic monarchy led to the expulsion of James II, which then led to the beginning of the Glorious Revolution. The Glorious Revolution was a time of unity within the English Parliament. This Revolution established the principle that power should be divided between the King and the Parliament, similar to a checks and balances system. This was established to ensure that one individual could no longer oppressively rule over the monarchy. During 1688, James II was just expelled from the position of ruler of England. • 20. California Prison System The California prison system was created in response to the increased amount of criminal activity that sparked during the Gold Rush years. Prior to the Gold Rush, California had prided itself on being a land of health, beauty, and opportunity (Bookspan, xviii). However, immigration and population growth surged, especially amongst foreign convicts and aliens , resulting in increased crime. At first, it was decided that punishment for small crimes would be a beating by whip while punishment for serious crimes, like robbery or murder, would be hanging (Kidport). After becoming a state in 1850, the California governor John McDougal reacted to this method of punishment by beginning what is known as the California Prison System. The first prison within California was San Quentin, which began to receive inmates in 1854, next was Folsom State Prison in 1880, then California Correctional Institution in 1933, California Institution for Men in 1941, and California Institute for Women in 1952 as well as multiple California state prisons that have opened since then in cities such as San Diego, Sacramento, Chowchilla, Avenal, Corcoran, Susanville, Vacaville, Crescent City, and many more (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation). Ultrasonic sensors, works simply on distance measurement from object to sensors. A flowchart was shown which worked on 2 important factors i.e. Distance_threshold(DiT) and Duration_threshold(DuT). Julius Caesar was a Roman statesman and general who played a critical role in the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. He amassed great power through clever political alliances and military victories. Caesar recorded his conquests in great detail which provides valuable historical text to refer to; however it must be kept in mind that it is a clear piece of propaganda. As the saying goes, the winner gets to write history. Nonetheless, Caesar s writings are a unique firsthand source on his conquests in Gaul and the various Gallic tribes he came up against. He depicted himself as a loyal servant to the Roman people and therefore portrayed his actions and decisions in the most favorable way possible. The And The Colonists Of The Americas The original motivations for the Spaniards going to the New World were to spread Christianity and grow wealthy; however, when they arrived, the actions of the Spaniards against the natives of the Americas did not reflect these original goals and led to unanticipated consequences. One such unexpected consequence was a reliance on slave labor. In order to accomplish the work necessary to make the profits that the Spaniards had expected, they turned to the natives as a work force. This need for laborers led the Spanish to enslave the natives, which led to conflict and cruelty, which went against the initial goal of spreading Christianity; if the prospective converts are being mistreated by those hoping to do the converting, the conversion itself becomes much more difficult due to the negative relationship. The Spaniards strongly believed that it was their sacred duty to save the faithless natives of the Americas by introducing them to God, and so they did all they could to see this happen, despite the negative impacts on the relationship between the natives and the Spaniards. This also made it more difficult to easily exploit the resources of the region against the wishes of the natives, because the growing bitterness between the Spanish and the natives made it impossible to successfully work together in an economic setting in the same way as the Dutch and the French.
