Rate Of Reaction Lab Report
2a. As the concentration of acid becomes higher or more acidic, it takes less time for the reaction to
occur which means that an increased rate of reaction has been formed.
2b. As the surface area of the magnesium metal increases/the magnesium piece becomes smaller, it
takes less time for the reaction to occur as more molecules are present which increases number of
collisions and an increased rate of reaction has been formed.
2c. As the temperature of the acid increases or becomes hotter, it takes less time for the reaction to
occur which means that an increased rate of reaction has been formed.

Concentration, Surface area, and Temperature) that played a role in controlling rate of reaction and
record observations and key characteristics that were found when altering the standard composition of
each factor. At the end of the investigation, there was a clear pattern that was present throughout all
three factors. As you increase anything whether it be concentration, temperature, or surface area, the
rate of reaction increased also. By increasing temperature, the speed of molecules increases
encountering a larger quantity of other molecules increasing collisions and rate of reaction. This was
clear in our observations table as our results show that warmer the temperature, the quicker the rate of
reaction. 100 degrees Celsius had the quickest rate while 6 degrees Celsius had the slowest rate of
reaction. Increasing the concentration allows molecules to be closely packed together making them
more likely to collide and have a quicker rate of reaction. As viewed in the observation tables, the
recorded results mirror this theory. The most concentrated substance at 6.0 M had the quickest
reaction time while the least concentrated substance at 1.0 M had the slowest reaction time. Finally,
increasing the surface area increases the number of collisions that may occur meaning the rate of
reaction increases. Surface area increases by decreasing the size of the pieces of reactants. This can be
shown in the observation table above as the rolled magnesium strip which had the smallest surface
area took the longest too react while the sliver of magnesium which was very small had the largest
surface area and its rate of reaction was the quickest. This shows how an increase in any factor will
potentially increase rate of reaction. Two sources of error that were present could have been
contaminated materials and size of material that substances were reacting in. Although some problems
occurred,

What I Know About Islam Essay
During the 11 years that I lived in India, I had two Christian friends. I never asked them what kind of
Christians they were as I was unaware of the existence of the different sects of Christianity. I am sure
they did not know either as we were too young. I am familiar with Christianity and Sikhism as I grew
up around people who followed these religions. The city that I grew up in had and still has a large
Muslim population; however, I never got a chance to learn anything about Islam. This was partly due
to the high tensions between Muslims and Hindus. I recall an incident that occurred in India during
my childhood years. I must have been 7 or 8, when riots broke out between Muslims and Hindus after
the burning of Godhra Train in the state of Gujarat. I remember hiding in a tiny room that we had on
the rooftop, where most of the women and children from my neighborhood came to hide while the
men were preparing to fight the Muslim rioters. Thank God nothing happened that night and the
information received was incorrect. Although, my views on Islam has changed as I grew older and
learned more about Islam; initially, this incident left me with a negative impression about Islam. As I
grew older, I realized that I was at fault for generalizing, not all Muslims are bad and this incident
certainly does not make Islam a violent religion. Therefore, when I was provided with the opportunity
to do immersion on other religions than my own, I chose Islam to gain deeper understanding and

The Rising Star Cave Essay
The Rising Star cave was pointed out to scientists by a group of spelunkers who squeezed through the
narrow opening and saw the multitude of bones around the underground chamber. The opening was so
narrow that few scientists could enter. Because of this, the cave was excavated by a team of six
women called the underground astronauts . They uncovered more than 1,500 fossils belonging to the
same species (Wilford 2015). The bones were distributed across nearly the entire chamber, including
side passages (Dirks et. al. 2015: 14). The remains make up at least 15 individuals of a wide span of
ages; almost every bone is represented more than once in the find. This allows researchers to study a
full population instead of studying individuals (Kepp 2015). Many of the hands, feet, wrists, and
ankles are nearly complete, though many of the longer bones are fragmented (Dirks et. al. 2015: 21). It
is the largest find of fossils in Africa to date. These fossils have been classified as part of a new
species of hominin, called Homo naledi because naledi means star in the Sotho language of the region
(Gibbons 2015). It also refers to the Dinaledi Chamber within the Rising Star cave (Berger et. al.
2015: 3). This makes Homo naledi the best known fossil species in the human genus (Bower 2016).
Homo naledi was originally believed to have evolved near the root of the Homo lineage, about 2.5 to
2.8 billion years ago. More recently, a group of scientists has estimated the date of the cave

Malcolm Gladwell s Power Of Context
For the most part humans are all born in the same fashion, they have opposable thumbs, a pair of
hands, a pair of legs, a brain, and a heart. Looks can be deceiving however, not all infants are created
equal. Statistically speaking, the overwhelming majority of the seven billion humans on earth will
pass away as a member of the same socioeconomic class they began. In fact, society predicates itself
on living a better life than their family who came before. Society takes part in a never ending race to
further itself on a socioeconomic level from the generation before knowing full well that the majority
will not achieve such goal. That in itself is a testament to how difficult the task of altering identity is.
Malcolm Gladwell s Power of Context echoes many of the same progressive principles preached in
the early twentieth century, he believes external factors such as the aspects of environment are the
greatest determinants of identity. Barbara Fredrickson argues in her book Love 2.0, that change comes
from within. Frederickson believes that biochemical alterations of the human body can occur by
increasing loving potential (119). An increase of such potential has a profoundly positive impact on
human health . As nice as it may sound Fredrickson s theory leaves her readers with far more
questions than answers and in fact plays more into the hands of Gladwell s power of context .
Fredrickson offers vague descriptions and uses contradictory language in regards to

1800 s America In The 1800s
During the 1800 s America was figuring out how to run a nation through trial and error. During this
period of time America faced hardships with foreign powers and with in its self, but the sweet
victories made them all worth it. In the 1800 s America learned to stand on its own, and became the
strong nation it is today.
Now, in the 1800 s America was on its third president, Thomas Jefferson. During Jefferson s term he
brought changes to the government and the American territory. A change he brought was bringing the
government closer to citizens, allowing them to have a louder voice than before. Jefferson also gave a
enormous duty to the Supreme Court of being able to declare if an act of congress was

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mining
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term of mining is the process or business of digging
in mines to obtain minerals, metals, jewels, etc. Of course, that s not just it, mining is a really complex

Personal versus Public Poetry
Personal vs. Public Poets write poetry to express their inner thoughts and views. In Seamus Heaney s
poem From the Frontier of Writing, Heaney describes how the publics react to his poetry. Heaney does
this by portraying the process of going through a military transport. Heaney shows a conflict between
his inner thoughts and the public s reactions to them. This creates tension between the personal and
the public. Throughout this poem, Heaney portrays the process of going through a military transport.
He makes the reader feel as if they are the ones going through the process by his use of you, your, and
you re throughout the poem. Heaney tries to use this poem to show the reader his feeling towards the
media and critic of his poetry. Heaney uses images of hostility by the soldiers in stanzas 1 6 to express
how he feels when someone criticizes or reads his poem. Heaney faces readers and critics inspecting
his poetry such as, troops inspect [the car s] make and number (Heaney, line 2 3). Heaney feels as if
the critiques are marksmen, training down out of the sun upon [him] like a hawk, (Heaney, lines17
18). Heaney fears of judgment as the critiques, eyeing with intent, inspect his poem (Heaney, line 5).
In the last two stanzas, there is a shift in tone as Heaney feels that the critics and readers are gone.
Suddenly, Heaney feels, arraigned yet freed, as he finally passes through the soldiers or critics
(Heaney, line 19). This shows the relief he feels when

What You Don t Know Might Kill You
What You Don t Know Might Kill You Millions of Americans wake up every morning and make a
decision about what they will eat for breakfast to jump start their day. Some may reach for a bowl of
Cheerios or multigrain cereal, while others may opt for yogurt, toast, or a pastry. Some people choose
to wash down their breakfast with pulp free orange juice, while some may drink a protein drink or an
invigorating coffee to get them going. For lunch, many people will consume sandwiches piled high
with meats and cheeses or perhaps a cheap meal from the nearest fast food restaurant. When it comes
to dinner, this meal may vary from family to family, but most dinners consist of a starch or two, a kind
of meat, some variation of a vegetable on a good day, and a dessert to finish out the day.
People who regularly eat this way have more than just food in common. In fact, most people who
constantly eat the previously mentioned American diet, suffer from some sort of physical, mental, or
emotional illness, whether it be chronic headaches, poor gut health, obesity, diabetes, asthma, chronic
fatigue, ADHD, anxiety, or any of the other thousands of health problems. Many people suffering
from these illnesses are led to believe that there is no direct cure and that they will just have to cope
with their illness. However, what most of those people do not realize is that many of the diseases they
are plagued with are often caused by the chemicals that make up their food. Even if the chemicals do

Internal Motivation In The Diary Of Anne Frank
The Holocaust is a big part of WWII. The Holocaust is a genocide, meaning killing a large group of
people. Many people went into hiding such as Anne Frank. In the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, by
Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, Anne and her family went into hiding to prevent being
deported. Dialogue is shown in Anne Frank by showing things like internal motivation, external
motivation, conflict, setting the temporarily state of action, and what the characters are drawing the
same characteristics to. In fact, dialogue is known to be noticed in its different categories such as
internal motivation. According to the text, Anne is longing for friends and people. She wants someone
young and understanding to talk to (Goodrich and Hackett p.167). Anne feels lonely in the Annex,
which causes Anne to want a friend her age to talk to her and understand. This is portraying the
emotion loneliness. This is a way of expressing how internal motivation is being used. Furthermore,
this shows that internal motivation can be used in dialogue in the play. In the Diary of Anne Frank,
this is a way of portraying dialogue being used. According to the text, Margot says of course I m
jealous...jealous that you ve got something to get up in the morning for... (Goodrich and Hackett
p170). To have internal motivation means to to have emotions. To explain, Margot is jealous of Anne
having something to look forward to something when Anne is awake. In this case, the emotion is
jealousy. This

Discourse is a word meaning ways in which you interact. A community of people who are able to

BC meaning Before Christ and AD stands for Anno Domini meaning year of our Lord. The Year of
our Lord was the year Jesus Christ of Nazareth was born. The usage of BCE to BC, CE to AD, took
placed and changed dramatically in it s use as a substation for recognizing Jesus Christ as Lord
particularly since 1980. Jesus Christ of Nazareth was born on May 14th sometime between the year 6
and 4 BC or BCE depending on whom you ask. Our text tells us that he lived between the dates of 6
BCE to 29CE. He was born into the world under the reign and rule of Augustus Caesar. Jesus
preached where ever he went about love and forgiveness starting in 26 CE and ending in 30 CE when
he was crucified by the Romans at the demands of the Jewish leaders. Despite their different cultures
and religious beliefs, they came together to crucify Jesus as punishment. Crucifixion was a community
discourse, in that time and region for crimes punishable by death. A democracy is control over a group
by the majority of its members. Pontius Pilate, as governor of Judaea, faced a conflict of interests
between the Roman Empire and the Jewish council when the Jewish leaders demanded Jesus be
crucified. Matthew 27:19 tells us a story of Pontius Pilate as he refuses involvement in Jesus s
crucifixion: So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he
took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am innocent of this man s blood; see to it

but one emotion enslaving humans under it s curse since the dawn of time; anger. Anger is

destruction and chaos anywhere and to anyone. Anger can be defined as an emotional state that

Competitive Intelligence Essay
Ethics in the Competitive Intelligence Industry
Competitive Intelligence (CI) can be defined as coordinated research of an organization s competition
within a specific industry. CI assesses those who compete for market share and attempts to guess the
actions of competitors before those actions are introduced in the marketplace. The vision of Strategic
and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) is, Better decisions through competitive
intelligence (Vision amp; Mission, n.d. para. 1). SCIP s mission, in part is to, be the global
organization of choice for professionals engaged in competitive intelligence and related disciplines

Hastings ignored the warning, believing that chief executives should generally discount what their
friends say (para. 2). Apparently in this case, Mr. Hastings friend was a good gauge of the typical
consumer who liked his Netflix service the way it was originally set up. If Mr. Hastings had hired a
company such as SCIP to gauge how such a reaction would impact the industry as a whole, he
probably would have made a different decision that would not have resulted in a 30% drop in the
company s stock. In fact, he may have been informed that a move by a similar company would drive a
large portion of its customers to Netflix, but because he didn t do his homework properly, Netflix
became the loser.
Competitive intelligence analysis is a subjective business. Companies that are in the CI business must
compile their data and corresponding recommendations in an ethical manner because the CI business
can be competitive too. If CI companies were to act in an unethical manner, they would clearly be
driven out of the marketplace by companies acting honestly. Additionally, CI companies should be
compelled to act ethically as the companies they research could be forced into bankruptcy or subject
to criminal discipline if CI research were misconstrued to show their subjects in a false, negative light.
I believe SCIP runs an ethical business as evidenced by its code of ethics. Two of its goals are, To
continually strive to increase the recognition

A Long Term Care Resident
As for Ms. Sanchez, since she is a long term care resident, assessments are not done as often as for
skilled nursing patients that are also clients to Baptist. Her assessments are spread out further than
those for the clients in the skilled nursing floor. While she did ask what these assessments were for,
she was also glad the student did this. The client stated how sometimes people are too worried about
the medical aspect and overlook the fact that there are other things they should look for. Aside from
helping the facility by keeping it out of trouble with the state, it also helps Ms. Sanchez pay for her
stay at the facility as she is on Medicaid and often times, scores on these assessments may help her
qualify for the benefits. Having these assessments as a requirement and a policy enforced by the state
of Texas is important, not only for Ms. Sanchez but all elders residing in BRC and other nursing home
facilities. With these assessments, staff and caregivers are aware of any changes to a client s health
and allows the agency to create a plan specifically designed for the individual. Diversity Issues When
helping clients, it is important to be aware that diversity issues may be encountered everywhere.
According to Barker (2003) diversity is defined as, Variety, or the opposite of homogeneity...usually
refers to the range of personnel who more accurately represent minority populations and people from
varied backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, and viewpoints, (pg. 126).

A Interview On The And Hearing About A Young Boy
I remember watching the news on may 19th 2013 and hearing about a young boy who passed away
just kilometers outside my house. At age two Geo was killed outside Rics Grill due to an alleged
drunk driver: Richard Suter. I felt the pain and sorrow for the family members and remember hoping
that Mr. Suter be punished for his actions. However, over time I completely forgot what ended up
happening until today. October 20th 2015, I got off the LRT and didn t quite know what to expect
going to the law courts. I have seen TV shows such as The Good Wife and Suits and thought that
maybe the courthouse would resemble similarities. However as I walked through the security and
made my way up to the courtroom I realized that my experience was going to be completely different.
My aunt who works at the courthouse had informed me earlier that morning that in courtroom 445 at
10am there was going to be victim impact statements for the case regarding Mr. Suter actions. As I
walked to the courtroom, I started to remember the news regarding this case and thought about
something that we had learned in class, which was the due process of our judicial system. I had just
assumed that this case was closed and justice has been served, but this was not the case. The
courtroom was much smaller than I had imagined, however it was completely full. People were
standing and the mood was very sombre because of the case. At first I was unsure whether this was a

Examples Of Idealism In Frankenstein
Initially, the creature has a mind that revolves around idealistic perceptions. These perceptions came
into the picture due to the creatures encounters with humanity. Victor Frankenstein for example,
abandoned the monster at birth, consequently leading to the creature s inevitable distress: But where
were my friends and relations? No father had watched my infant days, no mother had blessed me with
the smiles and caresses;...All my past life was now a blot, a blind vacancy in which I distinguished
nothing (101). This feeling of distress was accompanied by the monster s longing for a family or
companion. This sense of loneliness sparked by Victor s immoral actions is what led to the monster s
first idealistic perception. A perception that regarded the belief that he could mutually and happily
coexist with other humans. A symbolic representation of this is exact idea is the monsters second
encounter with humanity, an encounter which occurs after the monster has had time to ponder and
fantasize about his idealistic perceptions. Confidently and proudly, the monster enters a village full of
humans: But I had hardly placed my foot within the door before the children shrieked. And one of the
women fainted. (74) expecting his idealistic belief to be the truth he was once again disappointed and
so he creature s idealistic beliefs are questioned. Despite this heartbreaking encounter with humanity,

Love s Labour s Lost
The Elizabethans thought of it merely as a wittie and pleasant comedie ; Samuel Johnson remarked
that all the editors have concurred to censure [it] ; and William Hazlitt opined, If we were to part with
any of the author s comedies, it should be this. It was not until well into the twentieth century that
Love s Labour s Lost really came into its own, and this fact alone may be enough to make a case for it
as Shakespeare s most forward looking play. It is its ending in particular, an unexpectedly grim
conclusion in which nothing is actually concluded, that has appealed to modern sensibilities and made

Nunn s new production, however, breaks this tradition, radically altering the effect envisioned by
Shakespeare with the addition of a mere 30 seconds or so of extra textual material at the beginning.
John Peter s description perfectly captures the feeling of the opening moments: We are in a forest
clearing. The darkened Olivier stage is dominated by a bare beech, huge and ancient. Soldiers rush on.
Explosions, gunfire. This is the first world war. An officer...gets badly wounded. But this is Love s
Labour s Lost, is it not? A comedy, surely? This is indeed the reaction of the audience as Marcadé,
identifiable by his traditional all black costume, comes onstage (in the text, his first and only
appearance is his surprise entrance at the end) and says portentously, The words of Mercury are harsh
after the songs of Apollo (in the text, this line is also at the end and is Armado s). A kneeling officer
looks soulfully off into space, and the scene changes: foliage appears on the tree, the lighting comes
up to suggest dappled sunlight, merry looking people in Edwardian costume cross the stage, and the
first scene in the text finally begins, revealing the kneeling officer to be Berowne and Shakespeare s
entire play to be a flashback.
This added and adapted prologue, however brief, is quite significant: it lets the audience know from
the very start that all will not be well at the end, thus covering the entire rest of the play with a cloud

Essay about The Effects of Negative Weight Perception
How people perceive their weight can have both positive and negative effects. Unfortunately it is more
common to have negative effects. Maria Miller (2014) explains in her article, Rock More Confidence:

also explain, perceived discrimination poses a threat to health (Schafer Ferraro, 2011, p. 92) and the
sense of being marginalized because of one s weight can actually contribute to steeper health declines
(p. 81). These findings are congruent with what Miller (2013) wrote. Similar to how Miller (2014)
discussed that lowering the self esteem of oneself can affect well being; Schafer and Ferraro (2011)
explain how perceptions other people have of a person s weight can affect that person s health. Miller
(2014) goes on to explain, although it is not verified, how having negative perceptions of other s can
lower one s self esteem and conversely having positive perceptions can raise both parties self esteem.
A facet of well being that is every so often affected by weight is mental health. Frisco, Houle, and
Martin (2010) discuss in their article, The Image in the Mirror and the Number on the Scale: Weight,
Weight Perceptions, and Adolescent Depressive Symptoms, that the stigmas that are present for people
who are perceives as overweight can cause symptoms of depression (p. 216). Frisco et al., set out to

reasons and she is an outsider to them, in their midst she is an alien. So the speaker sits scratching
throughout her lonely nights. It can be interpreted as she is scratching a desperate plea a message on a
piece of paper. But if we infer the deeper meaning it can also mean that she is scratching because she
is feeling uneasy, she is scratching over the scab of division and the label that she is a minority. She is
scratching over the scab of people treating her minority over her skin colour. A page doesn t fight back

minority person like herself. The speaker hopes that whatever she has spoken so far shoots through the
thick layer of stereotypes the community has set and the noise of repression of the community. So
whole carrying on with this life of hers, the speaker comes across a person who is stranger to her yet
there is something about the person that makes her feel like she knows him or her. The face of the
person is pure and simple without any mask of stereotypes. The speaker can actually read through the

Etta James Research Paper
At first you could say This girl is fearless and she had a tough childhood, she was probably the elite of
the elite in rhythm and blues. Etta James got interested in music while in church, which took her into a
long career in music, where she soon became one of the best R B artist in the business, she later was
inducted in the Rock Hall of Fame. Etta had a normal but tough childhood. Etta did not really consider
her mom as her mom, she never called her mom because it didn t feel right. Dorothy, made Etta s life
full of pain. She never described her as warm and loving, just rude and immature (Hodgkinson, 2012).
She probably didn t have a good childhood like maybe others had, from having abusive parents and
didn t know what mood they were going to be in the next day, Then at 14 things started to get better
after she got adopted. She ended up being the lead singer in her trio. They played at talents shows and

Ecological Imperialism In Sea Of Poppies By Amitav Ghosh
Amitav Ghosh in Sea of Poppies published in 2008 looks back at the colonial period to show the
social, cultural, economic and ecological devastation done by European intervention in South Asia.
Ghosh states that the impelling policies of colonial powers alter the landscapes of the annexed
bioregions and economically plunder the communities. The research paper focuses on Ghosh s
concern over the commodification of nature at the hands of British colonialists. Sea of Poppies is an
account of the imposed opium monoculture in Bihar and Calcutta for the Chinese market responsible
for the enormous wealth of Britain. As such it is made clear in the paper that colonizers have always

It throws light on the status quo of agriculture in India and emphasizes the environmental injustice
caused to the land and to the people. Though unwilling, people are forced to adapt this new crop
culture as Britishers would go from home to home, forcing cash advances on the farmers and their
forged thumbprint. The farmers are unwilling but bound to such contracts because if they refuse, the
British soldiers would hide the silver in their houses to prove them culprits and make them convicts to
be transported beyond the seas as indentured servants. In addition, their refusal to oblige leads to
forfeiture of their properties. The novel provides a vivid picture of the exploited farming class. Deeti
maintains that earlier they lived in harmony with nature. She yearns for useful crops like wheat, dal
and vegetables. These gestures of Deeti show a happy and symbiotic environment of the earlier times.
She is aware of the curse posed by monoculture. According to her, during winters, fields used to be

fixing the hut roofs. She realizes that it has been seven years since roof of her hut was last hatched.

Reflection On Meditation And Visualization
Meditation And Visualizing: Review.
Most people hear about meditation from their families and friends but have little knowledge of what
the practice actually entails. Before joining my Masters Program in the field led by my experienced
and knowledgeable Professor Sophie Sore, I was both nervous and excited. I had no prior experience
with meditation neither visualization and had was still unsure of how the learning experience would
turn out. My friends had made comments that they had lost their minds after their meditation
experience. With no doubt, this made me skeptical about the program but my intuition led me to one
of the greatest and enlightening paths that I would ever undertake in my life.
The class has taught me that through imagery and visualization, we can enhance our productivity,
combat stress, anxiety, worries as well as all forms of tension. The lessons on EPT (Enhanced

Analysis Of William Shakespeare s Henry Iv
Shakespeare is one of the most widely known playwrights of history, and has been hailed for his plot
structure and character development. An example of this being one of his most noticed and widely
regarded characters in Henry IV Part 1, Falstaff. His character immediately gets the attention of the
audience through his variance in personality from most others of his day and life style. Falstaff is an
old, fat, disgraced knight and Hal s partner in crime. He is always looking for a good time while he
eats, drinks, and pisses away all he can get his hands on. A more modern parallel would be the fiction
character Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Both abuse any power or authority

So feasibly Falstaff and Jack Sparrow were included in their individual stories so the audience would
get hooked on the story line and feel envious of these characters and their lifestyle. Falstaff may have
been put into the story of Henry IV Part 1 because he comes off as more of an actual person than other
characters, making the play more real to the audience. This is supported by how Falstaff takes
advantage of his position given to him by Prince Hal for the war. Instead of gathering the bravest
fighters he can so he can give his all to the cause, he finds the lowest of the low and takes bribes for
letting certain people stay out of the war. Albert Tolman covers the idea of how real Falstaff is in an
article he wrote, Why Did Shakespeare Create Falstaff? Tolman asserts: Of the characters of the great
Dramatist [Shakespeare] Hamlet, Cleopatra, Iago, and Falstaff are among the most marvelous. They
are portrayed with such fullness and intensity that they seem to outrun the very laws of their being.
They escape from the world of fiction and are. Historical characters are less real than they. This is
supported by Falstaff s take on the honor of death in battle. Well, tis no matter; honour pricks me on.
Yea, but how if honour prick me off when I come on? How then? Can honour set to a leg? No. Or an
arm? No. Or take away the grief of a wound? No. Honour hath no skill in surgery, then? No. What is
honour? A word. What is in that word honour ? What is

Components of Business Environment
Components of business environment
On the basis of extent of intimacy with the firm, the environmental factors may be classified into
different levels or types. There are broadly two types of environment, the internal environment, i.e.
factors internal to the firm and the external environment i.e. factors external to the firm which have
relevance to it.
The internal factors are generally regarded as controllable factors because the company has control
over these factors; it can alter or modify such factors as its personnel, physical facilities, organisation
and functional means such as marketing mix to suit the environment.
The external factors on the other hand are, by and large, beyond the control of a company. The

organisations find it difficult to carry out restructuring or modernization because of resistance by
employees whereas they are smoothly done in some others.
 Company image and Brand equity: The image of the company matters while raising finance,
forming joint ventures or the other alliances, soliciting marketing intermediaries, entering purchase or
sale contracts, launching new products etc. Brand equity is also relevant in several of these cases.
 Miscellaneous Factors: There are a number of other internal factors which contribute to the business

1. Physical Assets and Facilities like the production capacity, technology and efficiency of the
productive apparatus, distribution logistics etc. are among the factors which influence the

The Mining Of Marcellus Shale Industry
The Marcellus Shale Industry in Pennsylvania Despite it s long history of coal, oil, and gas
development, Pennsylvania has seemingly been overcome by the rapidity and scale of production
demonstrated with the recent boom of Marcellus Shale industry, which has companies, workers,
environmentalists, etc. flocking to its northern tier. However, controversy seems to have followed as
the economic criticism of the drilling industry is that it booms and then busts, generating few local
jobs and leaving little lasting economic benefit (Schwartz). Thus making it critically important not
only the economic impact, but also those of social, institutional and environmental now and in the
years to come ( Marcellus Shale ).
Marcellus Shale is geologically defined as a sedimentary rock that is located at least a mile below the
surface and developed approximately 380 million years ago, during Devonian times, in a region
referred to as the Appalachian Basin, which explains its prominence in the northeastern region of the
United States ( What ). But, more importantly, Marcellus is a specific example of natural gas that
contains a substantial concentration of methane, trapped in low permeability shale, which requires the
hydraulic fracturing or fracking ( Marcellus Formation ). The natural gas occurs within the Marcellus
Shale in several ways, including: the pore spaces of the shale, the vertical fractures that break through
the shale, and adsorbed on mineral grains and organic

The Macroscopic Material Behavior Of Concrete
The macroscopic material behavior of concrete is influenced by the geometry, spatial distribution and
material properties of individual material constituents and their mutual interactions. Therefore, it is
essential to study the influence of each material constituent in order to estimate the residual strength of
the structural components. Thus, failure of concrete is a complex phenomenon due to its multiscale
and multiphase nature. When the normal stress in a material reaches its tensile strength, the
inhomogeneities in concrete promote the formation of an inelastic zone ahead of an existing crack
termed as the fracture process zone (FPZ). The FPZ is dominated by various complicated mechanisms
such as crack shielding, crack deflection, aggregate bridging and microcracking around the crack tip
and exhibits a post peak softening behavior under tensile loading. It therefore becomes necessary to
include these effects for predicting reasonably well the residual strength of existing cracked and
damaged structures.
Bridging of coarse aggregate occurs when the crack advances beyond an aggregate that continues to
transmit stress across the crack until it ruptures or is pulled out. The bridging aggregate may be
considered to exert a closing pressure on the crack surface thereby resisting the crack growth and its
magnitude strongly depends on the interfacial properties between coarse aggregate and cement mortar.
Upon loading of plain concrete beams under three point bending, it is

Jathon Wayne Noble Analysis
Bad to Recovery Jonathon Wayne Nobles was a well known murderer in the 80 s. He has a
background of drug abuse and mental illness. The traits had lead him to the perpetuated situation of
killing two girls and stabbing a man. That explains why he was on death row. The time spent in prison
changed his privileges and respect, actions, and whether he was proclaimed good or bad. Noble wants
others to feel sorry for him by gaining their respect. For example, in the introduction between Jon and
Richard Bethard leads to the fact that Nobles has gained the respect of others in the prison by his
conversations and interactions with others. He describes Bethard beams, saying he is one of my

Did Nobles really change? Believing everyone is born good, circumstances change some people.
Others have a deep seeded bad side that at some point makes them snap while doing something no one
could think possible of them. One thing for sure is he made a lot of people think he had changed those
he made friends with. For example, when Dona and his pen pal Pam are strip searched and brought to
the site of the execution it shows that Pam has come all the way around the world to see the execution.
Karen Sebung accompanies me as far as the waiting area where we witnesses are searched, then Dona
and Pam are escorted to another room by a female officer. When they return a large man enters the
room and introduces himself as an officer of the prison s Internal Affair Division. (Earle 80).
Concluding that Jonathan Nobles as the choice to be good or bad, he truly shows that he is not a good
person. Two out of three people who serve time in prison never come back, and only eleven percent
come back multiple times. (slate.com) The situational rehabilitation comes into play when talking
about his change. All the manipulation of others provides evidence that he never really rehabilitated.
Jonathan Wayne Nobles was never really habilitated because of him wanting others to feel sorry for
him, actions influenced by how others treat him, and the fact of him being good or bad. All the
concepts make up the fact that Nobles never really learned anything while being imprisoned. He only
received more privileges for his wrong doing. The actions gave him more leeway to get closer to
others while making them a friend of his. He learned to adapt to the surroundings and make it work to
his advantage. With all the transformations back and forth from good too bad he never gave a true
perception to his

Genetic Engineering of Humans
Human genetic engineering in the world today has become an issue because of its many positive uses

diseases such as cancer and others before we are even born. But, with this also comes the ability to
give children genes before their born that will give them talent to run faster, jump higher, use more of
their brain that will severly distinguish them from the rest of society. Imagine growing up and you are

simple changes in the way we live have drastically changed our lives forever. For instance Bill

forever. Marriage began as until death do us part but that is not the case anymore. People will bail out
a marriage at the first bad sign that shows up but in marriage you were supposed to work your

There is group from Great Britain called the Human Genetic Alert who is standing up for the same
things that Bill McKibben describes. They believe in all the benefits of genetic engineering but they
think that the commercialization of genetics and the technology has advanced too quickly for us to
consider any ethical or social consequences. There is much research proving, that with some work we
will be able to able to prevent most diseases that have plagued human race for years. Picture a world
where we would not have to worry about cancer or heart disease at all because we would be have the
vulnerability in our system fixed. The HGA is determined to make people aware of what the problems

Sons Of Liberty Apush Dbq
1. How do the Sons of Liberty explain Britain s motivations for passing the Tea Act The British
Empire was left heavily in debt by the Seven Years War and for the first time, Parliament began
looking at the colonies as a source to raise money from direct taxes (Foner, Voices 86). During the late
1700 s, the colonists were constantly at odds with the British government, who were attempting to
gain greater oversight and control. The Sons of Liberty, a group made up of different merchants and
classes of workers, were opposed to the many regulations and taxes levied on them by Parliament.
One of their main concerns was being taxed unfairly without representation and they viewed this as a
threat to their liberty. The Sons took the lead in organizing resistance groups and enforcing boycott
efforts to reject Parliament s overreach (Foner, Voices 91). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Act was not intended to benefit the colonies in any way and it was met with great resistance. The
Tea Act served two purposes: to bail out the East India Company financially by giving it a monopoly
on tea sales and to assert Parliament s authority over the colonists since they were not allowed to buy
tea from any other merchant. The East India Company was a private company, but played an
important role in the British economy. The obvious favoritism angered many of the colonial tea
merchants because they were unfairly cut out of the process and driven out of business. Parliament
gave the East India Company a series of rebates and tax exemptions, which allowed them to deliver a
large amount of low priced tea to the colonies (Foner, Give 192). 2. What do they consider the

With a population of a little over 3000 permanent residents, Williams seems like just any other small

originally called Wii Gvʼul by the indigenous Havasupai people, the town of Williams was founded in
1881 and incorporated in 1901. Bill Williams, a locally renowned scout, trapper, and an all around
Mountain Man, was the inspiration for naming the town. Bill Williams Mountain, just south of town,
is also named for him. And, of course, the Old Bill statue still stands in Memorial Park. Although Bill

(GCR), has its main depot and terminus in Williams. Started by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe

impressed he was with the railroad s limited impact on the local environment. Costs for the 64 mile

spend the night at the Grand Canyon. Constructed just 20 feet from the edge of the South Rim, El
Tovar afforded its guests an unparalleled view of the Canyon. The hotel is still in use today. The rise in
automobile ownership after World War II caused suspension of operations of the GCR in 1968. On its

Compare And Contrast Canadian Culture Vs American Culture
Canadas s culture is in many ways very similar to our culture in the United States. This in part due to
our proximity to one another. However despite the similarities of our two countries there is some very
distinct differences between the two. We as Americans make several misconceptions about the large
country to our north, which are made out of ignorance. Such as the Title of this essay. In this essay I
will provide you with some brief history about Canada and its establishment. As well as elaborate on
many key characteristics, holidays and demographics of that make up what it is to be a Canadian. The

people migrated to Canada for their willingness to work for low pay in dangerous conditions for the
construction of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Blacks make up three percent of the population and are
Canada s largest minority. Many of these people are fairly recent immigrant families from Africa or
the Caribbean, but there is a small minority of black Canadians that can trace their roots to the
millions of African Slaved imported during the era of the Slave trade. Canada has taken the stance that
everyone is equal, and because of this multi culturalism has thrived within the large country over the
past 4 decades. Their brand of multiculturalism does not impose a burden to assimilate into idealized
norms of what a Canadian is. The country which was once 97% white back in 1981, It now welcomes
roughly 300,000 immigrants a year 80% of those are non white immigrants. Of course there is still

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dry Bulk Cargo
From grains to coal and from sugar to cocoa, dry bulk cargo cover a range of produce and raw
materials that have two features in common: they are unpacked and are homogeneous. These two
properties make it easier for dry bulk cargo to be dropped or poured into the hold of a bulk carrier.

Even the metal elements of your toaster and kettle come by sea and the coal to generate the electricity

  • 2. Rate Of Reaction Lab Report 2a. As the concentration of acid becomes higher or more acidic, it takes less time for the reaction to occur which means that an increased rate of reaction has been formed. 2b. As the surface area of the magnesium metal increases/the magnesium piece becomes smaller, it takes less time for the reaction to occur as more molecules are present which increases number of collisions and an increased rate of reaction has been formed. 2c. As the temperature of the acid increases or becomes hotter, it takes less time for the reaction to occur which means that an increased rate of reaction has been formed. 3. As the concentration of Hydrochloric acid was altered throughout the experiment and doubled from 3.0 M to 6.0 M for example, the reaction rate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Concentration, Surface area, and Temperature) that played a role in controlling rate of reaction and record observations and key characteristics that were found when altering the standard composition of each factor. At the end of the investigation, there was a clear pattern that was present throughout all three factors. As you increase anything whether it be concentration, temperature, or surface area, the rate of reaction increased also. By increasing temperature, the speed of molecules increases encountering a larger quantity of other molecules increasing collisions and rate of reaction. This was clear in our observations table as our results show that warmer the temperature, the quicker the rate of reaction. 100 degrees Celsius had the quickest rate while 6 degrees Celsius had the slowest rate of reaction. Increasing the concentration allows molecules to be closely packed together making them more likely to collide and have a quicker rate of reaction. As viewed in the observation tables, the recorded results mirror this theory. The most concentrated substance at 6.0 M had the quickest reaction time while the least concentrated substance at 1.0 M had the slowest reaction time. Finally, increasing the surface area increases the number of collisions that may occur meaning the rate of reaction increases. Surface area increases by decreasing the size of the pieces of reactants. This can be shown in the observation table above as the rolled magnesium strip which had the smallest surface area took the longest too react while the sliver of magnesium which was very small had the largest surface area and its rate of reaction was the quickest. This shows how an increase in any factor will potentially increase rate of reaction. Two sources of error that were present could have been contaminated materials and size of material that substances were reacting in. Although some problems occurred, ... • 3. What I Know About Islam Essay During the 11 years that I lived in India, I had two Christian friends. I never asked them what kind of Christians they were as I was unaware of the existence of the different sects of Christianity. I am sure they did not know either as we were too young. I am familiar with Christianity and Sikhism as I grew up around people who followed these religions. The city that I grew up in had and still has a large Muslim population; however, I never got a chance to learn anything about Islam. This was partly due to the high tensions between Muslims and Hindus. I recall an incident that occurred in India during my childhood years. I must have been 7 or 8, when riots broke out between Muslims and Hindus after the burning of Godhra Train in the state of Gujarat. I remember hiding in a tiny room that we had on the rooftop, where most of the women and children from my neighborhood came to hide while the men were preparing to fight the Muslim rioters. Thank God nothing happened that night and the information received was incorrect. Although, my views on Islam has changed as I grew older and learned more about Islam; initially, this incident left me with a negative impression about Islam. As I grew older, I realized that I was at fault for generalizing, not all Muslims are bad and this incident certainly does not make Islam a violent religion. Therefore, when I was provided with the opportunity to do immersion on other religions than my own, I chose Islam to gain deeper understanding and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rising Star Cave Essay The Rising Star cave was pointed out to scientists by a group of spelunkers who squeezed through the narrow opening and saw the multitude of bones around the underground chamber. The opening was so narrow that few scientists could enter. Because of this, the cave was excavated by a team of six women called the underground astronauts . They uncovered more than 1,500 fossils belonging to the same species (Wilford 2015). The bones were distributed across nearly the entire chamber, including side passages (Dirks et. al. 2015: 14). The remains make up at least 15 individuals of a wide span of ages; almost every bone is represented more than once in the find. This allows researchers to study a full population instead of studying individuals (Kepp 2015). Many of the hands, feet, wrists, and ankles are nearly complete, though many of the longer bones are fragmented (Dirks et. al. 2015: 21). It is the largest find of fossils in Africa to date. These fossils have been classified as part of a new species of hominin, called Homo naledi because naledi means star in the Sotho language of the region (Gibbons 2015). It also refers to the Dinaledi Chamber within the Rising Star cave (Berger et. al. 2015: 3). This makes Homo naledi the best known fossil species in the human genus (Bower 2016). Homo naledi was originally believed to have evolved near the root of the Homo lineage, about 2.5 to 2.8 billion years ago. More recently, a group of scientists has estimated the date of the cave ... • 5. Malcolm Gladwell s Power Of Context For the most part humans are all born in the same fashion, they have opposable thumbs, a pair of hands, a pair of legs, a brain, and a heart. Looks can be deceiving however, not all infants are created equal. Statistically speaking, the overwhelming majority of the seven billion humans on earth will pass away as a member of the same socioeconomic class they began. In fact, society predicates itself on living a better life than their family who came before. Society takes part in a never ending race to further itself on a socioeconomic level from the generation before knowing full well that the majority will not achieve such goal. That in itself is a testament to how difficult the task of altering identity is. Malcolm Gladwell s Power of Context echoes many of the same progressive principles preached in the early twentieth century, he believes external factors such as the aspects of environment are the greatest determinants of identity. Barbara Fredrickson argues in her book Love 2.0, that change comes from within. Frederickson believes that biochemical alterations of the human body can occur by increasing loving potential (119). An increase of such potential has a profoundly positive impact on human health . As nice as it may sound Fredrickson s theory leaves her readers with far more questions than answers and in fact plays more into the hands of Gladwell s power of context . Fredrickson offers vague descriptions and uses contradictory language in regards to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Personal versus Public Poetry Personal vs. Public Poets write poetry to express their inner thoughts and views. In Seamus Heaney s poem From the Frontier of Writing, Heaney describes how the publics react to his poetry. Heaney does this by portraying the process of going through a military transport. Heaney shows a conflict between his inner thoughts and the public s reactions to them. This creates tension between the personal and the public. Throughout this poem, Heaney portrays the process of going through a military transport. He makes the reader feel as if they are the ones going through the process by his use of you, your, and you re throughout the poem. Heaney tries to use this poem to show the reader his feeling towards the media and critic of his poetry. Heaney uses images of hostility by the soldiers in stanzas 1 6 to express how he feels when someone criticizes or reads his poem. Heaney faces readers and critics inspecting his poetry such as, troops inspect [the car s] make and number (Heaney, line 2 3). Heaney feels as if the critiques are marksmen, training down out of the sun upon [him] like a hawk, (Heaney, lines17 18). Heaney fears of judgment as the critiques, eyeing with intent, inspect his poem (Heaney, line 5). In the last two stanzas, there is a shift in tone as Heaney feels that the critics and readers are gone. Suddenly, Heaney feels, arraigned yet freed, as he finally passes through the soldiers or critics (Heaney, line 19). This shows the relief he feels when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. What You Don t Know Might Kill You What You Don t Know Might Kill You Millions of Americans wake up every morning and make a decision about what they will eat for breakfast to jump start their day. Some may reach for a bowl of Cheerios or multigrain cereal, while others may opt for yogurt, toast, or a pastry. Some people choose to wash down their breakfast with pulp free orange juice, while some may drink a protein drink or an invigorating coffee to get them going. For lunch, many people will consume sandwiches piled high with meats and cheeses or perhaps a cheap meal from the nearest fast food restaurant. When it comes to dinner, this meal may vary from family to family, but most dinners consist of a starch or two, a kind of meat, some variation of a vegetable on a good day, and a dessert to finish out the day. People who regularly eat this way have more than just food in common. In fact, most people who constantly eat the previously mentioned American diet, suffer from some sort of physical, mental, or emotional illness, whether it be chronic headaches, poor gut health, obesity, diabetes, asthma, chronic fatigue, ADHD, anxiety, or any of the other thousands of health problems. Many people suffering from these illnesses are led to believe that there is no direct cure and that they will just have to cope with their illness. However, what most of those people do not realize is that many of the diseases they are plagued with are often caused by the chemicals that make up their food. Even if the chemicals do ... • 12. Internal Motivation In The Diary Of Anne Frank The Holocaust is a big part of WWII. The Holocaust is a genocide, meaning killing a large group of people. Many people went into hiding such as Anne Frank. In the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, Anne and her family went into hiding to prevent being deported. Dialogue is shown in Anne Frank by showing things like internal motivation, external motivation, conflict, setting the temporarily state of action, and what the characters are drawing the same characteristics to. In fact, dialogue is known to be noticed in its different categories such as internal motivation. According to the text, Anne is longing for friends and people. She wants someone young and understanding to talk to (Goodrich and Hackett p.167). Anne feels lonely in the Annex, which causes Anne to want a friend her age to talk to her and understand. This is portraying the emotion loneliness. This is a way of expressing how internal motivation is being used. Furthermore, this shows that internal motivation can be used in dialogue in the play. If Mr. Hastings had hired a company such as SCIP to gauge how such a reaction would impact the industry as a whole, he probably would have made a different decision that would not have resulted in a 30% drop in the company s stock. In fact, he may have been informed that a move by a similar company would drive a large portion of its customers to Netflix, but because he didn t do his homework properly, Netflix became the loser. Competitive intelligence analysis is a subjective business. Companies that are in the CI business must compile their data and corresponding recommendations in an ethical manner because the CI business can be competitive too. If CI companies were to act in an unethical manner, they would clearly be driven out of the marketplace by companies acting honestly. Additionally, CI companies should be compelled to act ethically as the companies they research could be forced into bankruptcy or subject to criminal discipline if CI research were misconstrued to show their subjects in a false, negative light. I believe SCIP runs an ethical business as evidenced by its code of ethics. Two of its goals are, To continually strive to increase the recognition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was not until well into the twentieth century that Love s Labour s Lost really came into its own, and this fact alone may be enough to make a case for it as Shakespeare s most forward looking play. Soldiers rush on. Explosions, gunfire. This is the first world war. An officer...gets badly wounded. But this is Love s Labour s Lost, is it not? A comedy, surely? This is indeed the reaction of the audience as Marcadé, identifiable by his traditional all black costume, comes onstage (in the text, his first and only appearance is his surprise entrance at the end) and says portentously, The words of Mercury are harsh after the songs of Apollo (in the text, this line is also at the end and is Armado s). A kneeling officer looks soulfully off into space, and the scene changes: foliage appears on the tree, the lighting comes up to suggest dappled sunlight, merry looking people in Edwardian costume cross the stage, and the first scene in the text finally begins, revealing the kneeling officer to be Berowne and Shakespeare s entire play to be a flashback. Components of Business Environment Components of business environment On the basis of extent of intimacy with the firm, the environmental factors may be classified into different levels or types. There are broadly two types of environment, the internal environment, i.e. factors internal to the firm and the external environment i.e. factors external to the firm which have relevance to it. The internal factors are generally regarded as controllable factors because the company has control over these factors; it can alter or modify such factors as its personnel, physical facilities, organisation and functional means such as marketing mix to suit the environment. The external factors on the other hand are, by and large, beyond the control of a company. The external or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 28. The Mining Of Marcellus Shale Industry The Marcellus Shale Industry in Pennsylvania Despite it s long history of coal, oil, and gas development, Pennsylvania has seemingly been overcome by the rapidity and scale of production demonstrated with the recent boom of Marcellus Shale industry, which has companies, workers, environmentalists, etc. flocking to its northern tier. However, controversy seems to have followed as the economic criticism of the drilling industry is that it booms and then busts, generating few local jobs and leaving little lasting economic benefit (Schwartz). Thus making it critically important not only the economic impact, but also those of social, institutional and environmental now and in the years to come ( Marcellus Shale ). Marcellus Shale is geologically defined as a sedimentary rock that is located at least a mile below the surface and developed approximately 380 million years ago, during Devonian times, in a region referred to as the Appalachian Basin, which explains its prominence in the northeastern region of the United States ( What ). But, more importantly, Marcellus is a specific example of natural gas that contains a substantial concentration of methane, trapped in low permeability shale, which requires the hydraulic fracturing or fracking ( Marcellus Formation ). The natural gas occurs within the Marcellus Shale in several ways, including: the pore spaces of the shale, the vertical fractures that break through the shale, and adsorbed on mineral grains and organic ... • 31. The Macroscopic Material Behavior Of Concrete The macroscopic material behavior of concrete is influenced by the geometry, spatial distribution and material properties of individual material constituents and their mutual interactions. Therefore, it is essential to study the influence of each material constituent in order to estimate the residual strength of the structural components. Thus, failure of concrete is a complex phenomenon due to its multiscale and multiphase nature. When the normal stress in a material reaches its tensile strength, the inhomogeneities in concrete promote the formation of an inelastic zone ahead of an existing crack termed as the fracture process zone (FPZ). The FPZ is dominated by various complicated mechanisms such as crack shielding, crack deflection, aggregate bridging and microcracking around the crack tip and exhibits a post peak softening behavior under tensile loading. It therefore becomes necessary to include these effects for predicting reasonably well the residual strength of existing cracked and damaged structures. Bridging of coarse aggregate occurs when the crack advances beyond an aggregate that continues to transmit stress across the crack until it ruptures or is pulled out. The bridging aggregate may be considered to exert a closing pressure on the crack surface thereby resisting the crack growth and its magnitude strongly depends on the interfacial properties between coarse aggregate and cement mortar. Upon loading of plain concrete beams under three point bending, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The traits had lead him to the perpetuated situation of killing two girls and stabbing a man. That explains why he was on death row. The time spent in prison changed his privileges and respect, actions, and whether he was proclaimed good or bad. Noble wants others to feel sorry for him by gaining their respect. For example, in the introduction between Jon and Richard Bethard leads to the fact that Nobles has gained the respect of others in the prison by his conversations and interactions with others. Believing everyone is born good, circumstances change some people. Others have a deep seeded bad side that at some point makes them snap while doing something no one could think possible of them. One thing for sure is he made a lot of people think he had changed those he made friends with. For example, when Dona and his pen pal Pam are strip searched and brought to the site of the execution it shows that Pam has come all the way around the world to see the execution. Karen Sebung accompanies me as far as the waiting area where we witnesses are searched, then Dona and Pam are escorted to another room by a female officer. When they return a large man enters the room and introduces himself as an officer of the prison s Internal Affair Division. (Earle 80). Concluding that Jonathan Nobles as the choice to be good or bad, he truly shows that he is not a good person. Two out of three people who serve time in prison never come back, and only eleven percent come back multiple times. (slate.com) The situational rehabilitation comes into play when talking about his change. All the manipulation of others provides evidence that he never really rehabilitated. Jonathan Wayne Nobles was never really habilitated because of him wanting others to feel sorry for him, actions influenced by how others treat him, and the fact of him being good or bad. All the concepts make up the fact that Nobles never really learned anything while being imprisoned. He only received more privileges for his wrong doing. The actions gave him more leeway to get closer to others while making them a friend of his. He learned to adapt to the surroundings and make it work to his advantage. With all the transformations back and forth from good too bad he never gave a true perception to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Sons Of Liberty Apush Dbq 1. How do the Sons of Liberty explain Britain s motivations for passing the Tea Act The British Empire was left heavily in debt by the Seven Years War and for the first time, Parliament began looking at the colonies as a source to raise money from direct taxes (Foner, Voices 86). During the late 1700 s, the colonists were constantly at odds with the British government, who were attempting to gain greater oversight and control. The Sons of Liberty, a group made up of different merchants and classes of workers, were opposed to the many regulations and taxes levied on them by Parliament. One of their main concerns was being taxed unfairly without representation and they viewed this as a threat to their liberty. The Sons took the lead in organizing resistance groups and enforcing boycott efforts to reject Parliament s overreach (Foner, Voices 91). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Act was not intended to benefit the colonies in any way and it was met with great resistance. The Tea Act served two purposes: to bail out the East India Company financially by giving it a monopoly on tea sales and to assert Parliament s authority over the colonists since they were not allowed to buy tea from any other merchant. The East India Company was a private company, but played an important role in the British economy. The obvious favoritism angered many of the colonial tea merchants because they were unfairly cut out of the process and driven out of business. Parliament gave the East India Company a series of rebates and tax exemptions, which allowed them to deliver a large amount of low priced tea to the colonies (Foner, Give 192). 2.
