Italian Art Research Paper
Art is defined as something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that
expresses important ideas or feelings. (Merriam Webster) Since the beginning of time, art has been a
regular part of life. Art is all around us every day, and sometimes, we don t notice or care where these
paintings, sculptures, or even photographs stemmed from. Since the beginning of time, art has been a
regular part of life. Over time, expressional art was categorized in a wide variety of ways, from the
Middle Ages, to the more cutting edge and modern distinction. The history of art was initially founded
during the Renaissance Era, focusing more on Western Civilization than other regions. Be that as it
may, as time passed, art took on a much more extensive overview of all advancements in the

Artistic styles have many impacts, however, the most prolific impacts originate from the newly
formed religious Orders coming to light in Italy during the 1200s and 1300s. Because of these new
religious orders, two notorious art styles merged together to make a necessary change. Dominican and
Franciscan styles merge together with the Byzantine art styles to form a completely new format. While
Western Christendom fell into the cultural abyss of the barbarian Dark Ages, its religious, secular and
artistic values were maintained by its new Eastern capital in Byzantium (later renamed Constantinople
after Constantine). Along with the transfer of Imperial authority to Byzantium went thousands of
Roman and Greek painters and craftsmen, who proceeded to create a new set of Eastern Christian
images and icons, known as Byzantine Art. (Byzantine Art: Characteristics, History) As the Western
Roman Empire crumbled and was taken over by the Byzantine Empire who

International Relations During Cold War Era
Title Needed Conceptual Framework Nuclear Parity as a concept started prevailing in International
relations in Cold War era. According to the Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms by US
Department of Defense (2005): Nuclear parity is a given condition at a given point in time when
opposing forces possess nuclear offensive and defensive systems approximately equal in over all

What Is The Role Of Broadcasting In ABC Sports
Once again ABC sports was at the forefront of sports broadcasting. However, this time it was sports
that was bringing live news to the world. During game 3 of the 1989 World Series an earthquake in
San Francisco shocked the sports world and the entire country. ESPN had a generator in its center
field location and allowed it to stay on the air and give on the scene reports live on television
(Keown). If it were not for that baseball game then nobody would have known what exactly was
happening in San Francisco at the time, because the city experienced a huge blackout. The Goodyear
Blimp, which ABC hired, gave aerial shots of the ballpark and surrounding city to those watching the
game around the country (Keown). ESPN changed from being a sports station to a news station that
was relaying information to millions across the country. ESPN and ABC knew that they had to change
gears from sports broadcasting to news. They need to stay on the air and continue to report live
updates as the city went black and countless lives were lost. It is one of the greatest sports
broadcasting moments of all time, and the game only lasted a couple of innings. During the 2016

believe that all players have the right to their first amendment, but they must understand the cause

How Did Edison Change The World
Have you ever wondered how the light bulb works? Do you know the genius brain behind the creation
of the light bulb? It is a simple but really useful thing that can help us to pass our daily life. Edison is
the man. He is one of the greatest inventors in the history. His creation had changed the world a long
time ago. He was known to be one of the people with the most perseverance and patience. The light
bulb we know today is one of his greatest and most influential inventions. Without his perseverance
and patience, he won t be as successful as the world knows him today. The light bulb he invented

have the light bulb to help us see. Edison didn t create the light bulb itself. Edison was just
improvising the entire component in the light bulb so it can be more useful. Edison invented the
incandescent light bulb made up of carbonized plant fiber for the filament. Incandescent light bulb is
an electric light that produces light with the wire on the middle heated to a high temperature until it
can glow. The light bulb first created had too much energy and not suitable for home use. Edison
wanted to make a more efficient light bulb that is suitable for home use. At first, Edison uses a
platinum filament in the bulb. The light bulb work but it can only stand for about three and a half
hours. Edison then planned to use the tungsten, but he couldn t do it because lack of tools needed. One
day when he was sitting in his lab, Edison thought of to use a carbon filament. The light bulb works
and it can stay longer, thirteen and a half hours. Since that time, Edison kept on experimenting and

Three Time s The Charm
The trio was already the hottest new topic of Ouran Academy. On the first day, they refused to wear
the frilly, butter yellow uniform, and instead, chose it over with a tank top and jeans, dyed with the
dull color of slate. At first sight, however, it only gain a little bit of attention. They only became
popular when their talents were revealed...and their unique personalities. The eldest of the triplets,
named Aeraque was the artsy, musical, and the reserved one, she was the least popular. Then the
middle child, Argentum the discerning, intelligent, somewhat rancorous (and polite) and also quiet.
The youngest, but most ostentatious one was known as Aurum, the scornful, rude, and vigorous one.
The first day, and the youngest of the three was already abashing the students. The boys minus those
from a certain club, were disappointed. They wanted the new girls to be ingenues, but instead, they
turn out to be anti social or bitter. But that wasn t another reason they were so exalt they were the
children of two famous families. The upper Imperial branch, alongside with the Abandonato family. At
first, when they were discovered, everyone, of course, tried to befriend them, to find out that they

Living Like Weasels Rhetorical Analysis
Living Like Weasels Rhetorical Analysis In her essay Living Like Weasels , Annie Dillard explores
the idea of following a single calling in life, and attaching one s self it this calling as the weasel on
Ernest Thompson Seton s eagle had. Dillard presents her argument using the analogy of a weasel and
how the; weasel lives as he s meant to, yielding at every moment to the perfect freedom of single
necessity (Dillard). In constructing her argument, however, she often contradicts herself undermining
the effectiveness of her argument and leaving the reader confused. Dillard primarily uses ethos and
pathos to support her argument and concerning both, the reader discovers; inconsistencies in her
character, and conflicts between her perceptions of the weasel s emotions and its actions. Concerning
her ethos, Dillard presents herself as a part of suburbia and then is suddenly, inexplicably overcome by
the desire to live wild. Dillard also uses very detailed language throughout the essay in describing her
surroundings and thoughts, however; this further undermines her argument and ethos as she is trying
to convince the reader that she could simply become as simple and single minded as the weasel she
has focused her argument around. With her use of pathos, Dillard begins her essay with descriptions of
the weasel s brutality, yet; she concludes by stating the weasel lives as is necessary. By simplifying her
experience and presenting a reasonable explanation for why she wanted to

What Was The Impact Of Radio Broadcasting In The 1930 s
Radio broadcasting left a major social impact on Americans. It delivered news, advertising, and
entertainment to the American household. The radio allowed Americans from across the United States
to be up to date on the latest political news, sports, and radio shows. Companies used the radio to
spread their product to the American living room. The radio left the greatest impact on society for the
variety of content it contained and how popular it was. In 1913, Edwin Armstrong invented a special
circuit that made long range radio transmission of voice and music practical (American). This
technological advancement made it convenient to use the radio as means of delivering the news.
Whether you lived in a rural countryside or in a packed city, you were able to get the news. Able to
broadcast weather reports, sports news, and entertainment to thousands of Americans, the radio proved
to be an invaluable resource. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt began broadcasting his speeches over the radio in 1933. These
speeches gave hope to Americans that were suffering during The Great Depression. Americans found
comfort in the speeches that Franklin gave and it was eventually given the nickname, Fireside Chats.
(History chats). The radio was also used to push political campaigns. In the 1928 presidential election
campaign, networks sold more than $1 million in advertising time to the Democratic and Republican
Parties(American). The radio influenced American households in many ways, at times, not in a
positive manner. In the Radio show Amos n Andy, it portrayed African Americans with racial

Chinese Culture And Western Culture In Child Rearing
Introduction
Culture is a set of values that are ingrained in human beings from birth. They define our actions, our
view of what is good, fair, and just, and shape the way we live our lives. The definition of cross
cultural values and beliefs is that of where people from different countries or regions interact, bringing
their different values, viewpoints, and practices unique to their culture (Dictionary, 2017). In this
literature review, we will analyze the differences between Chinese and Western culture in child
rearing, with a focus on the impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts,
how children accommodate or resist those socialization efforts, and finally, we will discuss the
implications for parents and teachers.
Socializing behavior is defined as behavior enacted towards children, or in the presence of children, to
induce or shape their behavior or understanding of behavior (LeCuyer Zhang, 2015).
The impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts
The Chinese culture is known for its collectivism with focus on group success over personal success,
and hierarchal authority where children are expected to obey parents, teachers, and other authorities in
power. This style is characterized by attempts to shape and control the child according to absolute
standards, with a high value of obedience to authoritative figures (Lieber, Fung, Wing Leung Leung,
2006). Chinese people, in general, are more willing to

readers an inside perspective of the experiences. Old lady Milla is one of Ed s many tasks, he supplies
her with the company she so desperately needs, but not only did he help her, she put a piece of her
heart inside him. The readers see Ed s transformation from dickhead Ed to a kind gentlemen willing to
spend his time reading to a lonely old lady of which he barely knows. One of the toughest challenges
Ed faces is his Ma, one of his darkest hours as Ed is forced to confront his mother. Zusak describes Ed
standing on the tough women s porch refusing to leave and demanding an answer as to why she treats
him so awfully and with such disrespect, providing the reader with a suspenseful first person view of
the experience. Ma provided Ed with the answer he was undoubtedly unprepared for, she presented his

Twenty two patients had clinical encounters recorded. Of the twenty two transcripts, six encounters
did not include any CPM discussion and were not analyzed further. Within the remaining sixteen
encounters, 3 styles of CPM discussion emerged: (a) No initial patient treatment preference; (b)
patient initially wants CPM; (c) physician recommends CPM. Brief descriptions of these styles and
representative quotes are below.
1.1 No initial patient treatment preference
Most patients either had no initial preference for a treatment or did not vocalize them to their
physician. In these cases, early within the clinical visit the physician presented multiple surgical
treatment options for breast cancer. Most physicians introduced CPM as a ... Show more content on

is driven strongly by medical factors; in this case the patient had Hodgkins Lymphoma treated with
radiation.

Patient: Do you?
Clinician: We do. We do. It s up to you, it s your choice, but the majority of people do consider doing
both because it is at that risk. (205)
Throughout the encounter, both the patient and their family member are hesitant about CPM, but the
physician continues to encourage CPM. Finally, the patient and family member seek an additional
opinion from a radiation oncology to further understand the risk to the contralateral breast.

In an effort to extend Andreasen s (1968) typology to computer mediated environments, we assert that
information sources can be sorted into one of four groups: (1) Personal source providing personalized

personalized information (e.g., A renowned expert says that this product is the best. ); (3) Impersonal

Arguments For The New National Hockey League Rules

purposeful need on the League to emphasize competition, players skills, and an entertainment value to

Governors by a Competition Committee. The Competition Committee was comprised of four general

This is true for most hockey fans. They like to see a lot of action in an NHL game shootout to
determine the winner of a game. This new rule will keep many people from turning off their
televisions at home and keep the average fan interested. The Fewer Stoppages, Increased Flow rule
states, Passes from behind the defensive blue line to the attacking blue line will be considered legal.
The center red line will be ignored for the purpose of the two line pass, as stated on the NHL FAQ s
webpage. (http://www.nhl.com/nhlhq/cba/rules_changes072205.html) Before the change of this rule, a
player was not allowed to make a pass from behind the defensive blue line to the attacking blue line
without a stoppage of play. The ability to make a two line pass gives teams an easier opportunity for
transitions in the neutral zone. Whereas before, a player had to make short cookie cutter passes
through the neutral zone and not many scoring opportunities were available. The opportunity for odd
man rushes is more evident also. Under this new rule, players and fans are more likely to see 2 1
without the red line. This puts a well needed pressure on defensemen, and a defensive player will
show more of his skating and passing talents. It will increase the value of the mobile defenseman,
stated the respectable General Manager of the Buffalo Sabers, Darcy Regier.
It has taken some time to adapt to the new NHL rules, both watching the game and playing the

later that there was equal division of his possessions between male and female descendants was a right
that was written into most communal charters. Women lived as equal members in society if they

to 1000 acres that produce about 5000 plants. The main colony that do plantation are the southern
colonies, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. The reason the south did
more of plantation is because the geography and climate is just right for planting and harvesting.
Georgia has great geography because there are hilly plains, fertile soil, forest, along rivers, and
swamps. What the plantation owner does is sell crops to make a profit; a plantation owner harvests
tobacco, rice, sugar cane, and indigo are all called cash crops. Cash crops are worth a lot of money.
Plantation owner has little trouble transporting crops because there are many waterways and southern
colonies have docks which makes it easy to tie ships to the port. Harvesting crops and making lots of
money require lots of labor work, and that is why plantation owner had thousands of slaves. Since
there are no machinery, oxen and horses were a;so often used to plow fields. Slaves, all genders had to
work 18 hours nonstop a day; everyone had equal work proportions. Many generations of slaves were
born in small crude cabins they are required to live in. The second job i will type about is cobbler. A
cobbler is one of the earliest industries in the original 13 colonies. The shoemakers used to make one
shoe the the same side as the other shoe. A cobbler makes a wooden frame for the start of the shoe,
then tops the rest with leather. The third job i am going to type about is blacksmith. The word
blacksmith means a black smitter of iron. Only blacksmiths in bigger cities created railing for
balconies or gates. Lots of blacksmiths shops were small, dull, and barely lit. The main tools for the

A Brief Note On The Local Small Businesses
Have you ever considered counting how many local small businesses are there in your community?
Do you think that business would do way better if it could reach out further through a website? Fact is
there are 27 million small businesses on this earth, which means there are several products and
services offered, what if these small business had the potential to upscale but the local market wasn t
great enough? Some of the best ran small businesses have websites that has given the business a great
deal of benefits. Some of the benefits that help small businesses are that they help gain credibility,
save money, accessibility, wider range for target market, customer service and, convenience. I would
like to start with one of the most influential effects a website has on a business which is convenience.
Convenience is a very influential factor, usually if a customer can easily find your site you would see
an increase in traffic on your site. Also, If your website is more convenient than your competitors that
will give you a huge advantage over them, while spreading the name of your brand across the country
rapidly. Another beneficial aspect of having a website is it helps your business save more money. A
website can help a business with money from different angles. People automatically think that having
a website could be costly, well not necessarily it depends on how you utilize the tools given. Websites
will be there all the time and is free to access, versus having a

The Enlightenment Philosopher In The 1600 s
Every Enlightenment Philosopher in the 1600 s had different views on how a human being was
structured and how it worked, they had different beliefs and opinions that may or may not be true.
Thomas Hobbes believed that Humans are by nature free also equal in faculties of body and mind and
humans are just physical objects and our Human Nature was just like he stated The natural state of
man s life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short , according to Hobbes, human beings are
essentially selfish, we are not essentially good or ethical people because in Hobbes opinion ethics
come with politics and politics are the root of selfishness. Hobbes argued that the essential natural
right was to use his own power, as he will himself, for the preservation of his own Nature.
The social contract based on Hobbes was that If you shut up and do as you are told, you have the right
not to be killed or even have the right to not to be killed, for no matter what the sovereign does, it does
not constitute violation of the contract. Hobbes advocated a Sovereign government with a king with

Donoghue V Stevenson Case Essay
Essay Question: Read Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] A.C. 562. Assess the way in which Lords Atkin
and Buckmaster use the case law they discuss in at least three instances (eg Langridge v Levy;
Winterbottom v Wright; Longmeid v Holliday; George v Skivington; Heaven v Pender; Le Lievre v
Gould; etc), with reference to the operation of the doctrine of precedent and the techniques of applying
and distinguishing cases. This will require you to do much more than describe the facts of any of the
cases involved; we are interested in the legal/judicial techniques employed by the judges and how they
deal with previous case law that could be regarded as favourable or adverse to the judges preferred
view of the common law in Mrs Donoghue s case.
By way of comment, identify and evaluate the operation of Llewellyn s law jobs in this case.

case law by Lords Atkin and Buckmaster. Also to provide an in depth explanation of the reasons for
the way their Lordships treat the cases as they do. Firstly, previous cases or a higher court need not
bind Lord Buckmaster and Lord Atkin as they are operating in the Supreme Court (formerly known as
The House of Lords) and there is no higher court. However they may be bound by their own pervious
decisions.
Lord Buckmaster was a slave to precedent, and was unwilling to allow the common law to adapt to

Comparison Of The Characters In Henriquez s Novel The...
In life people are often compare each other for relative success, and so often and conveniently siblings
are compared to each other. We see this comparison in Christiana s Henriquez s novel, The Book of
Unknown Americans with the characters of Enrique and Mayor. Between the two brothers, one has
clearly accomplished more great feats in his parents eyes, him being Enrique. Throughout the book the
accomplishment of Enrique is felt acts as a burden towards his younger brother, Mayor. Mayor, try as
he might, is not his brother and this is seen through Mayor failures to meet the standards of Enrique
presented in the book. There is a sibling rival between the brothers created by their father Rafael Toro.
An advancement of knowledge on the subject of sibling rivals can help us to further understand the
situation of the brothers, by examining the studies of some scholars on the effects older siblings have
on the younger siblings. Rebecca Webber s Two Sibling, One Spotlight focus on how the older sibling
set the goals for the younger siblings. Zeng yin Chen and Ruth X. Liu work Comparing Adolescent

is positive for the younger sibling. A quick aside with my own personally experiences as the youngest

The Greenhouse Effect On The World
Introduction
Most people around the world do not fully understand the meaning of the greenhouse effect, or the
affects the greenhouse effect has on the world. In fact, many believe that the greenhouse effect is
simply contributes to global warming, and that it has no real value to the earth. But what many are not
aware of it that the greenhouse effect is the planet s natural way of obtaining a specific temperature in
which living organisms can survive. Many people are not aware of the consequences that our way of
life has on the planet, and soon, with the help of global warming, we will all understand.
Greenhouse gasses There are three main greenhouse gases that play a large role in keeping our planet
at a stable temperature; carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Other gases produced are
troposheric ozone, CFC 12, HCFC 22, and sulfur hexafluoride. The greenhouse effect used to have no
legitimate harm on earth, but, humans have been the reason for the increase in these greenhouse gases,
therefore creating what we know today as; global warming. Without these greenhouse gases, the earth
would be so incredibly cold that no living entity could survive.
Importance of the Greenhouse Effect Because the greenhouse effect is usually only discussed in the
context of global warming, this natural process is neglected to be appreciated for its vital role in the
planet. Without having the greenhouse effect, there would be no weather on Earth. All of the

Earthen construction has evolved with mankind and creates housing opportunities world wide.
Building with stabilized compressed earthen bricks (SCEBs) is becoming more popular due to the low
cost, relative abundance of materials, and quality product performance. The majority of developing

Cross Listings On International Exchanges
The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through cross
listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to
greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for
the integration of global securities markets.
There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing
implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is
through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a
domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing,
particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary
Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalization among firms from emerging economies. In
addition to Europe and America, international firms are allowed to cross list in other countries through
the DR programme.
There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor
base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the increasing
visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of higher
valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some of the

In 1831, northern free slaves began to try to free slaves from forced captivity of southern slave
owners, which began the movement of the Underground Railroad. In 1865, the victory of the civil
war, freed four million black slaves, but white southerners were not happy with the idea of slaves
having freedom so they designed laws to restrict freed slaves from civility and ensure that they did not

southerners continued to come up with ways to restrict Blacks from many social activities in which
they were already granted through the laws of the Constitution.
By the 19th century, many social forms of discrimination existed to keep Black Americans from being
equal to White Americans. Laws like separate but equal where put into places to keep Black
Americans from being in the same places as White Americans, like; neighborhoods, schools, churches,

An investigation on the use of ink and charcoal as a medium, as well as movement over time, in the
Time Series by Patricia March.
The works of Patricia March are predominantly charcoal works, with smaller aspects of ink, whilst
portraying insight of character, as well as how the body moves over a period of time. March uses the
perception of a figure moving, portraying the figure on one picture plane; but moving, as if this were
over a period of time. Figures appear walking or picking up an object and this is portrayed as one
character becoming three. In each different movement the figure is in a different position, as if moving
like in a real life situation. This reinforces the name of her series, Time, as it literally perceives a
figure or a few figures and their movements over a period of time. March studied a master in
cinematography. She was interested in movement and time, so since, she tried to apply her vision
about cinema into drawings. The movement of the people drawn, reminds me her some way to

Modernist Assault Research Paper
The Modernist Assault The 20th century was a period of exploration, advances, and discovery in a
revolutionary era. As science was evolving, art and architecture were too forming new ideas and
styles. Quantum physics gave way to a new process of thinking. This mentality spread rapidly and
went beyond the realm of physics and into the minds of various types of artists. Art movements that
transpired include Cubism, Futurism, and Fauvism; eventually leading to Nonobjective art.
Architecture modernization also becomes clear in observation of the International Style. First and
foremost, discovery in physics began a domino effect in the modernization of the world. Einstein
concluded that time and space are relative to the position of the observer, challenging Isaac Newton

Loyalty in Love in The Time of Cholera Essay
When one thinks of loyalty, they usually conjure up an image of a dog and his master; the dog,
following and doting on its master, willing to give up its life to protect him. In the book, Love in the

starts out with the character Dr. Juvenal Urbino finds out that his friend, Jeremiah de Saint Amour has
committed suicide and left Dr. Urbino a letter with his final instructions. Dr. Urbino dutifully skips out
on Mass to make sure his friend s final wishes are fulfilled. Upon arriving in the location his friend

This piece of text displays the doctor s love and loyalty for the city. He had been born there, and is
oblivious to the problems of the city. His pride for the place he was born never waivers, even when
other people insult his homeland. The words help display his strong feeling for the city, and make the
text interesting, and clarify the chain of events. Both examples of diction allow Marquez to
communicate with his readers, as well as providing an interesting way to present the setting.
Imagery in this story is connected with loyalty because of the vivid descriptions Marquez uses to help
the reader establish the setting, and help communicate the feelings of a character. One such example
is. She would not shed a tear, she would not waste the rest of her years simmering in the maggot broth

s memory. He had asked her to, remember him with a rose (Marquez 16) opposed to being unhappy
for all eternity. The imagery in this piece of text allows the reader to understand the extent of Jeremiah
and Barbara s relationship, as well as showing how Barbara will move on opposed to just saying it
outright. Another example of imagery is Along the rough cobbled streets that has served so well in

John Keats s Poem, Ode On A Grecian Urn, And The Eve Of...
Keats covered many topics in the poems he wrote during his short life but the theme of fantasy being a
better alternative to reality was prominent throughout many of his works. To Keats the idea that,
Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard/ Are sweeter (Urn 11 12) play a major role in his poetry,
demonstrating that for him the idea of what is yet to come is far better than the actual reality of the
situation. Through the narratives and stories he tells in his poems, Ode on a Grecian Urn, Ode to a
Nightingale, and The Eve of St. Agnes, it is made evident that Keats would rather live in the fantasy
realm of his own mind than in reality. In his poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, the fantasy that Keats feels
is better than reality is displayed in the scenes decorating the urn, pictures forever frozen in time. At
the beginning of stanza two Keats writes, Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard/ Are sweeter
(Urn 11 12). In these lines Keats is saying that the anticipation of an event or experience is far better
than the actual experience itself, or rather that the reality of a situation can never truly live up to the
ideal that one has had in one s mind. To Keats, the scenes displayed on the urn are so beautiful that he
not only admires the artwork, he envies those on the urn because they will forever get to display the
scenes of Happy happy boughs (Urn 21) and, unlike he, will never have to bid the spring adieu (Urn

Perspective In The Renaissance
To understand the importance of perspective in art during the Renaissance era, one must understand
the importance of art during the Renaissance era. Art was closely associated with religion, but was
also a way to depict what is and what was. Perspective came to rise during the Italian Renaissance for
a myriad of reasons, but mainly in creating a sense of realism and allowing on to manipulate space.
The utilization of perspective allowed the viewers to have a more intimate relationship with items of
worship in a sacred setting. Many paintings were closely tied to sacred paintings as an item to assist

During game 3 of the 1989 World Series an earthquake in San Francisco shocked the sports world and the entire country. ESPN had a generator in its center field location and allowed it to stay on the air and give on the scene reports live on television (Keown). If it were not for that baseball game then nobody would have known what exactly was happening in San Francisco at the time, because the city experienced a huge blackout. The Goodyear Blimp, which ABC hired, gave aerial shots of the ballpark and surrounding city to those watching the game around the country (Keown). Dillard presents her argument using the analogy of a weasel and how the; weasel lives as he s meant to, yielding at every moment to the perfect freedom of single necessity (Dillard). In constructing her argument, however, she often contradicts herself undermining the effectiveness of her argument and leaving the reader confused. Dillard primarily uses ethos and pathos to support her argument and concerning both, the reader discovers; inconsistencies in her character, and conflicts between her perceptions of the weasel s emotions and its actions. Concerning her ethos, Dillard presents herself as a part of suburbia and then is suddenly, inexplicably overcome by the desire to live wild. Dillard also uses very detailed language throughout the essay in describing her surroundings and thoughts, however; this further undermines her argument and ethos as she is trying to convince the reader that she could simply become as simple and single minded as the weasel she has focused her argument around. With her use of pathos, Dillard begins her essay with descriptions of the weasel s brutality, yet; she concludes by stating the weasel lives as is necessary. An advancement of knowledge on the subject of sibling rivals can help us to further understand the situation of the brothers, by examining the studies of some scholars on the effects older siblings have on the younger siblings. Rebecca Webber s Two Sibling, One Spotlight focus on how the older sibling set the goals for the younger siblings. Zeng yin Chen and Ruth X. Liu work Comparing Adolescent Only Children with Those Who Have Siblings on Academic Related Outcomes and Psychosocial Adjustment research allows for an insight of real life academics of only and children with siblings generalized results in an academic test; presenting a significant difference between the two. Jensen, Alexander C. and Susan M. McHale What Makes Siblings Different? The development of Sibling Differences in Academic Achievements and Interest argues that more academically successful older siblings generate higher expectation of parents to push the younger sibling to achieve similar academics goals. Though most of the data indicate that the older sibling usually outperforms the younger siblings academically I will argue, this sibling rivalry is not a negative but rather if anything is positive for the younger sibling. A quick aside with my own personally experiences as the youngest of three brothers. Often my siblings have set the curve for what is acceptable and not weather that be academics or that be sports. • 32. Cross Listings On International Exchanges The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for the integration of global securities markets. There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalization among firms from emerging economies. In addition to Europe and America, international firms are allowed to cross list in other countries through the DR programme. There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of higher valuations. The works of Patricia March are predominantly charcoal works, with smaller aspects of ink, whilst portraying insight of character, as well as how the body moves over a period of time. March uses the perception of a figure moving, portraying the figure on one picture plane; but moving, as if this were over a period of time. Figures appear walking or picking up an object and this is portrayed as one character becoming three. In each different movement the figure is in a different position, as if moving like in a real life situation. This reinforces the name of her series, Time, as it literally perceives a figure or a few figures and their movements over a period of time. March studied a master in cinematography. Keats covered many topics in the poems he wrote during his short life but the theme of fantasy being a better alternative to reality was prominent throughout many of his works. To Keats the idea that, Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard/ Are sweeter (Urn 11 12) play a major role in his poetry, demonstrating that for him the idea of what is yet to come is far better than the actual reality of the situation. Through the narratives and stories he tells in his poems, Ode on a Grecian Urn, Ode to a Nightingale, and The Eve of St. Agnes, it is made evident that Keats would rather live in the fantasy realm of his own mind than in reality. In his poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, the fantasy that Keats feels is better than reality is displayed in the scenes decorating the urn, pictures forever frozen in time. At the beginning of stanza two Keats writes, Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard/ Are sweeter (Urn 11 12). In these lines Keats is saying that the anticipation of an event or experience is far better than the actual experience itself, or rather that the reality of a situation can never truly live up to the ideal that one has had in one s mind. To Keats, the scenes displayed on the urn are so beautiful that he not only admires the artwork, he envies those on the urn because they will forever get to display the scenes of Happy happy boughs (Urn 21) and, unlike he, will never have to bid the spring adieu (Urn 22). • 38. Perspective In The Renaissance To understand the importance of perspective in art during the Renaissance era, one must understand the importance of art during the Renaissance era. Art was closely associated with religion, but was also a way to depict what is and what was. Perspective came to rise during the Italian Renaissance for a myriad of reasons, but mainly in creating a sense of realism and allowing on to manipulate space. The utilization of perspective allowed the viewers to have a more intimate relationship with items of worship in a sacred setting. Many paintings were closely tied to sacred paintings as an item to assist worship or to retell the narrative of the Bible. the renaissance was also a time of fascination with realism, exampled by Vasari s praise of the bare torso for its perfection as an anatomic study in regard to the Piero della Francesca. Art is also very complicated in that it grounds its persuasiveness in the truth of optical experience (Pardo, Giotto and the Thing Not Seen). The addition of perspective allows sacred paintings to appear three dimensional, adding a complexity to worshippers as it seems as the bible narrative or the person of worship (Mary, Christ, etc.) is appearing out of the painting directly to the worshipper. This interaction caused the viewer to feel more intimate in their worship as they felt that they had a genuine, almost tangible connection with the actual religious figures. Perspective in sacred use is further shown with the possibility that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
