There were slipstream soot marks on the right engine nacelle, which identifies as burning in flight.
The right horizontal stabilizer had soot and tiny droplets of metal, this shows that the engine was
burning during flight. The right prop showed span and chord wise striations with S compressions on
the trailing edges. The blade tips were broken and jagged with missing pieces. It was determined
during laboratory teardown showed that the right engine was producing power during impact. The left
Engine nacelle showed evidence of vertical dark residue marks or soot trails. The prop was intact, the
tips were bent backwards and showed very little sign of trailing edge compression. This possibly
indicates that the engine was not running during the time of impact. It was also discovered that the
fuel line support bracket showed propagation cracks along the bolt holes that connect it to the firewall.
It did not separate from the firewall, and the fuel line showed no signs of loss of integrity. The cockpit
and passenger areas were destroyed. All of the instruments were destroyed as well. The throttle
quadrant was damaged, but it did show that all the levers, props, throttle, mixture and feathering levers
were pushed forward into the panel. Initial cable tracing showed remaining integrity, but due to
damage from the impact and the resulting fire, actuator positions were inclusive. There were large
metal trunks scattered throughout the

The Center Can Not Hold My Journey Through Madness
Literature Review The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness by Elyn R. Saks For this
literature review, I decided to read an autobiographical novel called The Center Cannot Hold at the
suggestion of my individual supervisor at Sharp Mesa Vista, who said it was the best first hand
account of schizophrenia that she had ever read. The novel tells the story of Elyn Saks lifelong
struggle with schizophrenia. For the most part, Elyn had a normal childhood with loving parents.
However, as early as the age of 8 years old she began to experience some early symptoms such as
intense compulsions, night terrors and even believing that houses were putting thoughts into her head.
At twelve years old she stopped eating properly and lost a lot of weight. Even at a young age, Elyn
believed that there was something terribly wrong with her and did her best to hide her condition from
her family. As a teenager Elyn briefly experimented with drugs and was sent by her parents to an
intense drug rehab after school program which taught her that psychotropic drugs of any kind are bad
and that any personal obstacle can be overcome with sheer force of will. In part due to this lesson that
Elyn learned early on, she spent decades resisting medications outright or secretly reducing her
dosages after agreeing to take medications. This reminded me of the importance of assessing the
meaning behind taking medications with clients. When Elyn went off to college at Vanderbilt, she

The characters had a major role because they were effective with the audience. The film was even
more enhanced with the combination of the director and the casts. It affected me in such a way that I
would react with how the characters would say and make decisions. However, the film lacks
information about Sabine also an important character in the film. I was hoping more of a short
inclusion of a psychological explanation of Sabine s reflection with what her parents are doing. I
would want the question how does it affected her? to be answered, even with the last few scenes of the
film where Jim and Catherine had died.
FILM ANALYSIS
The Title, Jules and Jim centralizes both on the main characters who both fell in love with the person
who controlled and ruined their strengths and weaknesses their lives. The basis of the title of the film
was mainly because of the friendship of the two men. This film focused on their relationship with the
hindrance of a character: Catherine, in which gave the two a more meaningful and questionable
friendship.
The movie started with a short introduction of how the foundation of Jules and Jim s friendship
flourished all throughout the years to be able to show and to keep the attachment with the audience of
how these two have grown together but declined as they met Catherine. This foundation of their
friendship served as the basis for the audience on how they will be judged and understood upon

A Summary Of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Kimmy Schmidt a young, naive girl who comes to New York City in escape from her kidnapper.
Kimmy is seeking to make a name for herself in the big city with nothing. After discovering that she
was a doomsday cult survivor, Kimmy tries to live every moment to the fullest. In
Unbreakable:Kimmy Schmidt, Tina Fey, the director, portrays Kimmy as having an outwardly colorful
soul after coming up from the bunker, but in reality Kimmy is just attempting to live the lost life of the
teenager that she never could discovered in the bunker.
An interview with E!, Ellie Kemper had this to say about her character Kimmy: Bad things will
happen. That s what life is, but the ability to overcome that and surmount it and let those experiences
define you is, I think, what makes [Kimmy] so inspiring. 1 Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is full of
obscure and selfish characters. Many of these characters have no sense of a moral compass and each
character comes with a unique backstory on life. While Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is written in a
comedic style and is absolutely the goofiest show you will come accross, Tina Fey frequently aims
and shoots at controversial subject targets, in order to have her opinion heard.
Feminism and race/sexuallity play an immense in shaping the story structure for. Feminism is a major
part of Kimmy s discovery of the new world , and Tina Fey makes sure she uncovers this in a very
monotoned sense. At one point in the show, a random New yorker guy hits on Kimmy by

Allergy Model Of Addiction
There are many models of addiction. It appears that addiction is still not totally understood by the
establishment due to the different interactions including everything from family dynamics, genetics,
economic availability of substances to brain chemistry, morality, and social interactions as well as
other criteria. The following is a sample of four different models of addiction with some of the
positives and negatives of each model.
The allergy model was born from Dr. Silkworth s opinion explained to the founder of AA. As Freed
quoted Johnson in HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES ON ADDICTION Wilson left Towns Hospital
with a new perspective on alcoholism: He was physically sick, not morally weak as most Americans
labeled alcoholics (Freed, 2012, p. 33). The positive side of the allergy model was that the explanation
that Silkworth gave to Bill Wilson removed the shame of moral failure that blocked Wilson from
recovery. AA has been the most effective alcoholic recovery program to date. If the allergy model
perspective has helped other alcoholics gain freedom that could be construed as a positive thing. The
allergy model is a bit lacking though; it doesn t explain the allergy and why people tend toward
something they re allergic to. Furthermore, it s just based upon a Dr. s opinion and not any data that he
had compiled.
The syndrome model seems to cover all its bases with its definition which is one of its benefits.
According to Freed s understanding of the syndrome

Similarities Between John Brown And Nat Turner
John Brown was very similar to Nat Turner they both believed that they were chosen by god to lead
slaves into freedom and if that required a fight then that was what they had to do. John Brown had a
goal and that was to abolish slavery throughout the united states. The trouble in Kansas began when
the Nebraska Act was signed by President Pierce, this act engaged that people make a determination
on whether Kansas territory should be free or slave. In hopes that Kansas would become free of
slaves, the opposing side which was named Border Ruffians invaded their territory and forced the pro
slavery election. After John heard about the fear of Kansas becoming a slave state and after also
hearing that the Border Ruffians ransacked the town of Lawrence

Life Is Defined By All The Living Creatures On Earth
Life is defined by all the living creatures on earth. Biology is a broad topic of the study of life.
Biology contains many different types of subjects within it that may be studied, like terrestrial or
aquatic animals, or viruses and diseases. Here I will be talking about twelve of the millions of parts:
Characteristics of life and kingdoms, biomolecules, nature and the importance of water, cells, energy
and the carbon cycle, cell division through mitosis and meiosis, the central dogma through DNA/RNA
and proteins, genetics and inheritance, evolution, energy through food webs and food chains,
symbiotic relationships, and human impact. There are seven different characteristics of life. These
characteristics are known as organization or structure, reproduction growth and development,
adaptation, stimulus response, and evolution. After going through the list proving that the organism is
alive, the organism is set into one of three domains: bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes. The eukarya are
known to have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Bacteria are characterized by having a cell
wall, by made from peptidoglycan. Archaea are characterized by having no nucleus, but having a cell
wall that isn t made from peptidoglycan. All of the eukarya are organized into different groups called
taxes or taxis (Anderson). The eight different taxis in order from biggest to smallest are domain,
kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. For example in domain, there

A Comparison of The Book of the Family and The Selected...
During the Renaissance, many writers were authoring how to books. At the same time, mail
correspondence was the main form of communication. This gives readers and historians the golden
opportunity to perform some comparisons, and to paint a picture of what life was like in the
renaissance. In The Book of the Family Leon Battista Alberti illustrates to his readers through
dialogue, his vision of the perfect family. Alberti wrote his book in dialogue form, featuring the elder
Giannozzo conversing with the young Leonardo. They discuss important family topics such as thrift,
friendship, work, health, housing, economics, children and how and whom to choose as a wife. Alberti
stresses thrift with family resources and money, hard work in ... Show more content on

In the question of whether Alberti s visions for a family translated into Alessandra s world the facts are
conflicting, and careful analysis will allow historians and readers to find areas where they do and don t
to reach their ultimate conclusion. Alberti s first topic is thrift. He explains a system of spending that
depends on need, value and honor in which the wise person spends money where it is needed, on
goods of value, and isn t miserly. Giannozzo tells Lionardo: With every expenditure one must only be
sure that the cost is no greater or heavier or larger than is needed, yet no less than honor requires.
Alessandra spends much of her time writing about money matters. family. Her son in law Marco
followed custom of honor in dressing his wife fits this idea of honor. When he bought his wife
clothing and adornments, he spent lavishly, he had a garland of feathers and pearls made [for her]
which cost eighty florins, the headdress underneath has two strings of pearls costing sixty florins or
more. When she goes out she ll have more than four hundred florins on her back. For the daughter of a
local ruling family and his wife, it was his honor and duty to see her well dressed. This fits with
Alberti s recommendation to keep my household well dressed, each member in accordance with his
situation. While this seems like an inordinate amount of money, and wholly against all ideas of

The Resurrection Of Jesus
Overall, the events of the resurrection must have been a period of great confusion and bewilderment to
Jesus followers. Even though Jesus followers had knowledge of the resurrection from the Scriptures
and Jesus own personal testimony and prophecies (Matthew 16:21; 20:17), they still did not
understand, at least in the beginning. But how quickly that confusion and bewilderment turned to joy
after their eyes were opened. When I became a true follower of Jesus many years ago, I can remember
the joy that I felt in having my eyes opened. I like to think that the joy I experienced was the same joy
Jesus followers experienced after the resurrection.
Unfortunately, there are not many details concerning the actual resurrection. Matthew s ... Show more

Getting to Yes Analysis Essay
Whether or not we are aware of it, each of us is faced with an abundance of conflict each and every
day. From the division of chores within a household, to asking one s boss for a raise, we ve all learned
the basic skills of negotiation. A national bestseller, Getting to Yes, introduces the method of
principled negotiation, a form of alternative dispute resolutions as opposed to the common method of
positional bargaining. Within the book, four basic elements of principled negotiation are stressed;
separate the people from the problem, focus on interests instead of positions, invest options for mutual
gain, and insist on using objective criteria. Following this section of the book are suggestions for
problems that may occur and finally a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, I found these guidelines to be oversimplified and completely void of the fact that human s are
inapt to simply putting their feelings aside. Also, following the suggestions such as using symbolic
gestures, an example being to ‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way
of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of
asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause, the method of
separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it makes way for a better
relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by the other. The second part
of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. Interests refer to the result needed, while
positions refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to ideal conflict and
negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough, and where positions
can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and even unfavourable. In the case of a
‘victim in conflict, one can usually bargain more than they ‘need for their damages. In the case of
positions and power, an employee not acknowledging a CEO his/her power would not make a
difference in the status of the two individuals and the potential outcome of the

Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England
Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country
through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that
give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar
disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and
lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder
(Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression
over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely
that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him,
Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V),
Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one
or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s),
the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a
noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). Essentially, Bipolar II Disorder

Cultural Barriers To The Romans
The gospel is the foundation of the faith and without it there nothing. Romans 1:16 states it is the
power of God that brings salvation to everyone that believes .1 There are a lot of churches which do
missions and other fine works but they fail when proclaiming the gospel. They proclaim portions of
which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never mentioned or any
other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more likely to send healthy
mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted gospel. The power of the
gospel is the best tool to break down barriers. When the Apostle Paul wrote Romans, he was crossing
cultural barriers, he stated in Romans 1: 14 15 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to
barbarians,[d] both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also
who are in Rome. 2 Paul is a great example of being a barrier breaker and being unashamed about his
faith. Paul faced numerous obstacles, including persecution , customs and cultural differences.

She Walks In Beauty
Lord Byron in She Walks in Beauty tries to explain the beauty of a woman, the speaker is
overwhelmed with her beauty, and struggles to explain her amazing beauty. He starts by saying, She
walks in beauty, like the night / Of cloudless climes and starry skies (1 2). By saying the she walk in
beauty, the speaker is saying that everything about her is beautiful, and she does not just have a pretty
face, but it s her whole living self that makes her beautiful. Women are not normal compared to the
night; night is usually a symbol of evil and darkness. Comparing her to the night makes her beauty
different, and mysterious. The speaker also say that it is clear night, symbolizing the women s
complexion. This could also symbolize the women s personality, showing that she is fair, and honest.

The speaker s diction also tells the reader that he sees the women as precious. and valuable. The

The 2015 movie Spotlight, directed by Tom McCarthy, revolves around a team of four investigative
journalists from The Boston Globe as they go around Boston to uncover cases of widespread systemic
child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests. The movie highlights the efforts of journalists in gathering
reliable information in order to report the truth to the masses. In following the process of how
journalists get information and contact sources for a story, the movie has successfully depicted the
bureaucracy in government agencies, the psychological trauma that both journalists and
sources/victims go through, and it has even shown how the press can sometimes be negligent on
various important issues. Content wise, Spotlight managed to hook viewers to watch until the end and

Raging Bull Vs. The Social Network
Raging Bull is a 1980 biographical sports film about boxer Jake LaMotta, directed by Martin
Scorsese. The Social Network is a 2010 biographical film about Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of
Facebook, directed by David Fincher. This essay will be an analysis and a comparison of the two films
that seeks to answer the questions: How do the films communicate messages to the viewer? What
messages do the communicate? And finally should films of the biopic genre be viewed as
biographical, or should they be viewed as creative works that are not reflective of the people that they
portray?
Before beginning the analytical portion, first a more philosophical discussion about film as an art
form. Film is an art form that is experienced by its receiver over its duration, in that way it is similar to
music, and is different from a static art form like paintings. This matters because it alters the way in
which its effect is had on its receiver the audience. The film is a sequence of shots usually coupled
with audio, and the narrative film tells a story. The story may be delivered sequentially or not, and this
choice has implications on how viewers will react. These choices are considered as a part of film
form, choices can also be made about the individual scenes, frames, and sounds as well which are ...

Complete Comparisons Of Wheatley And Poe
Complete Comparisons of Wheatley and Poe Throughout American literature, two poets emerge as
very unlikely candidates for poetic comparisons. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe s writings in
many ways reflect the unique lives that they lived, and having an understanding of the two poets
backgrounds can assist a reader in dissecting their manuscripts. Comparing works from the two is an
easy task to handle if an avid reader decides to pursue it, and even though they lived under adverse
conditions they have a way of shaping history into an intricate fashion of delicate, dark and
sophisticated writing. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe are different in persona and literacy, but
when a reader processes more of their works, one can understand how these two writers helped shape
poetry for generations after and still possess an impact on the literary world.
Phillis Wheatley was a young African American girl, brought to America at the age of seven to be a
slave. In her time maturing in the Wheatley household, young Phillis grew rapidly intellectually and
spiritually. Her faith in God and His divine nature is what inspired Wheatley to write a prominent
subject in her poem On Being Brought from Africa to America. Another example of God being the
backbone of her literary career is in her letter To the University of Cambridge in New England.
Though Wheatley was a slave, she is known as one of the most prominent poets in the pre nineteenth
century America. Mr. Edgar Alan Poe,

judges, who are also unexperienced with scientific concepts, are forced to make the decision of
whether evidence is relevant and reliable. There is great concern surrounding the quality of our
forensic science system. However, the courts continue to rely on forensic evidence without having a
full understanding on the limitations of certain forensic science disciplines. There are rules that govern
the admissibility of forensic science in court. In the case, Bloodsworth v. State of Maryland, these
rules were not followed and the forensic evidence presented should not have been admissible in court.
Every attempt should be made to properly study techniques and have its accuracy verified before
being used to describe or analyze evidence in court. The standards for the admission of scientific
evidence developed gradually over the years. It started with the case, Frye v. United States, in which
the court concluded that evidence was not admissible unless it was generally accepted. Years later the
Federal Rule of Evidence 702 was implemented, which stated that the only requirement is that

Humility In The Early Christian Community
One major issue that the early Christian community is the idea of humility. They had a major problem
with just putting trust in the Lord and listening what the Bible says. My brothers, do let us have a little
humility; let us forget our self assertion and braggadocio and stupid quarreling, and do what he Bible
tells us instead. (p 28). This passage from The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians, shows that
it is extremely important to just listen to the Bible and stop trying to figure out and do everything
ourselves. This is impossible and I believe that is what Clement was trying to tell the Corinthians.
Another issue that the early Christian community had was straying from the Church Manual that was
talked about in The Didache.

Topology, Infrastructure, And Network
Topology Infrastructure While category 5 enhanced (CAT 5e) is the current standard for network
connections, the ABC Company is looking to expand in the future. With this in mind, category 6

good electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, it only has a limit of 1 gigabit transmission
speed. CAT 6e, provides EMI protection also, but has the capability of up to 10 gigabit transmission

Each switch is interconnected via multimode fiber optics between the floors. In addition, one port per
IDF will host an interconnected CAT 6e cable for redundancy in case the fiber optic cable becomes

switches creates a fault tolerant network. Furthermore, to accommodate the transient nature of ABC
Company s employees during their day to day operations, a wireless access point (WAP) will be
installed centrally on each floor. Because of the location of each WAP, there is a chance of signal bleed
over between floors. To mitigate this possibility, each floor will have a non overlapping channel
assigned to it; floor one will use channel 1, floor two will utilize channel 6, and floor three will
employ channel 11. Furthermore, the antenna strength will be configured so there is minimal signal
bleed over outside of the confines of the office while still having full connectivity within the confines
of the building. With this wireless architecture, employees can move from floor to floor and maintain
network connectivity without co channel interference from channel bleed over. When employees are

Medical Malpractice Claims
I ve chosen the topic of medical malpractice for this essay. I chose this topic because it is a topic that I
think someone could disagree with and argue, so therefore it s also one that I can help persuade
someone into thinking I m right about. My question is has medical malpractice affected the level/
delivery of health care does it scaring future physicians away? This topic is important because it
impacts everyone whether they are seeking medical attention or the person providing it. It also affects
the cost of health care and people s access to it. I believe that medical malpractice makes it hard for
physicians to do their job without worry and fear of getting sued. This can impact their judgment and

Economics and Business Communication
Economics and Business Communication 1.Four different levels of Regional Economic Integration
include a free trade area, customs union, common market, and unrestricted movement. Free trade
agreements involve no tariffs issued within a country, with tariffs issued onto a third country. In a
customs union, there are no internal tariffs but instead uniform, predetermined external tariffs. In a
common market, there is free movement of labor and resources, with no tariffs issued. Finally, an
economic union requires uniform currency and policies; this involves transactions between more like
minded countries. 2.There are three different types of foreign exchange risk: transaction exposure,
economic exposure, and translation exposure. Transaction exposure refers to the extent to which
transactions are liable to be affected by the exchange rate at a given moment. Because of the constant
fluctuations of the exchange rate, the profits garnered from a given transaction can be greatly affected.
Economic exposure refers to the tendency that a change in exchange rate can have on a party s cash
supply and earnings. This has similar consequences to those of transaction exposure, except that it is
not directly related to a specific transaction. Translation exposure relates to the impact that changes in
exchange rates can have on the financial statements of a country; they differ from the other types of
foreign exchange risk in that they have less relation to transactions. 3.One common

Defining Underachievement
Under achievement is a threatening position to educators and can be a disruptive force throughout
education systems. The idea of under achievement suggests that the systems is at fault because
students do not reach their potential under the guidance of that system. The purpose of this essay is to
analyze the idea or terminology of under achievement in the context of my specific teaching scenario.
I will present my argument by first, introducing literature that has been specifically enlightening
towards the subject. This essay will then highlight my personal experiences with this phenomenon in
my own class room and how certain experiences have helped me define what under achievement
actually is and can help me recognize its features in the future. Lastly, this essay will offer some
guidelines in fixing the problems that will be indentified in examining under achievement, and focus
on strategies that may be useful in improving this particular area of education and learning.
Defining Under Achievement Under achievement is a difficult idea to grasp in its entirety due to its
reliance on forecasted expectations. It is important to realize that educators are not prophets and
cannot successfully predict the academic success of students based on past performance. Although we
cannot fully capture, qualitatively what under achievement really consists of, this idea is better
understood in a subjective manner. Reiss (2009) suggested that there are six motives that can identify

In Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea, a sea of differences engulfs the women, stirring up prejudice and

bridges between them. They are envious of each other s wealth, leery of each other s premature aging,
and unforgiving towards those who do not belong to their ethnic groups. Differences in economics,
age, and nationality among the women cause misunderstandings and divisions between them.

Guidance Of Pressure Compressions
2.1.3. Guidance for obtaining accurate measurements
In practice, strain measurements are usually below a few millistrain. Therefore, the changes in
resistance need to be measured accurately.
Temperature coefficient of gauge factor is the change of sensitivity of the element to change its length
with change in temperature. A fixed resistance in the input leg can be introduced to compensate for it.
As a result, the effective supplied voltage increases when temperature increases. This compensates for
the decrease in sensitivity.
When more than one strain gauge are used, the temperature coefficient of gauge factor might be
different, there will be a zero shift with temperature. One or more resistors can be placed on the

Fourthly, the tracked grey value pattern is the basis of the correlation algorithm. The pattern is

The Deviant Globalization From Gilman s Perspective
Globalization is a developmental process of transnational integration, which mainly reflects on the
economic aspect. The moral standards and legal systems in different regions are changing differently
along with the progress of the society. However, when mentioned globalization, people mostly refer to
mainstream globalization. Deviant globalization the rebarbative dark side of the global economy is
ignored constantly. There is a distinctive evaluation from Nils Gilman deviant globalization is a form
of development. As Harvey (2006) said that human, finance, goods, ideas and services are considered
increasingly as the important factors in the development of globalization. Therefore, it could be
discussed from economic, political and social perspectives to measure the deviant globalization. This
essay aims to analyse the deviant globalization from Gilman s perspective. Defining the deviant
globalization and analysing how the deviant globalization forms firstly, and using examples to explain
the reasons of development of these three perspectives.
As Gilman, et al (2013) written that deviant globalization refers to meet the demand for illicit or
immoral commodities and services which are provided by other different places with disparate moral
standards or inefficient governments. The range of deviant globalization is wide, for example, money
laundering, unlawful sexual trafficking as well as organ trade and so forth. Moreover, deviant

The Benefits Of Homework
Cooper defines homework as task assigned to students by school teachers that are meant to be carried
out during non school hour. (Cooper 2015) However, is it effective enough to justify its extension of
the six hours of school students experience each weekday? As Bennett explains in Must Won t Do It! ,
Much attention is placed on helping students develop as complex and creative thinkers, yet many
classrooms continue to use learning structures without examining their effectiveness. This is often the
case with homework. Research findings on the effectiveness of homework are mixed, and few studies
have examined students and educators perspectives on the benefits of homework as a learning
structure (Bennet). Our current structure of homework may be achieving the opposite of what it needs
to do.
More than any other aspect of education, homework has been the cause of more friction between
schools and home and becomes the prime battlefield when schools, families, and communities view
one another as adversaries. Recent homework debates in this country have centered on questions of
how much homework at which grades produce what kinds of learning gains. A recent analysis of
homework research by the Center for Public Education (2007) found that homework at the elementary
level is counterproductive, while homework in middle and high school shows some correlation with
small increases in test scores. But those findings do not hold across the board. Homework may have

Beatrice has no power, she is helpless. There was an awful doom...the effect of my father s fatal love

Baglioni s quest for power and revenge against her father. Baglioni s power, convincing Giovanni that

Beatrice reclaim the power over her own life. In the pursuit of knowledge and power great sacrifices

Essay on Massai Culture
Massai Culture I have chosen my paper on the African Cattle People, specifically the Massai Culture.
The Massai culture seemed to have more than meets the eye when we studied them in class, so I had
to venture on to a website to see what else I could find out about them. In general, the Massai have
several practices: circumcision and clitoridectomy, an age group system, shaving of the heads of
women, extraction of two lower front teeth, the one legged stance of the heron, and the use of spit in
greeting and benediction. The Massai s religion, laibons, circumcisions, cattle, warriors, elders and
cattle raiding were just a few characteristics of their culture, making themselves unique of all the rest

crazy how these certain cultures can come up with stories, theories or whatever it is they are coming
up with. And to believe that they entrusted all their faith and never were led astray from their religion,
makes me develop a strong respect for their culture.
In studying the Massai in class I became aware of the strong representation that cattle made in the
Massai culture. The people would go as far as naming the cattle as if they were their own pets. The
believed that cattle were the next best things to God, cattle were everything. Since the Massai were
semi nomadic pastoralists, this meant they would travel searching for new grazing pastures. Going

Inspector tries to make him feel guilty by putting the facts bluntly and saying You started it. She

price for that. I agree with the inspector and think that if he had just taken the liberty to find out why
she was so desperate for the increase in salary it may have made him see things a bit differently and
even give her the raise. As for Sheila, I think she treated Eva terribly and if the rest of the characters

have been so quick to express regret. Despite Sheila s obvious signs of regret the inspector stills try to

Factors Of Imperialism In Nigeria
The people of Nigeria are divided into three ethnic groups the Hausa Fulani, the Yoruba, and the Igbo.
During imperialism, Nigeria was a colony of Great Britain and ruled by indirect control. The Hausa
Fulani would govern their region with their language and Islam religion. Whereas, the other two
regions in the south adopted Christianity and European ways and helped govern their own regions.
When Britain decided to withdraw from the colony in 1960, they set up a Nigerian Federal State with
a central government and separate governments for each of the three regions. The Niger River Delta
region was rich in mineral oil deposits and they also produced palm oil, coffee, and tin for export. The
economy of the new nation was largely dependent on selling oil production leases to foreign
companies and money earned from export of oil. Since, each region had its own government, the
politicians were focused on channeling the wealth from the sale of oil into their own region so as to
benefit themselves, their followers and their own regions. This gave rise to competition, greed for oil
money and corruption among politicians. The party in power at the central government controlled the
oil leases, the import licenses, the construction job projects, and the government jobs. They also got
the bribes from giving out these contracts. When, the first national election happened in 1964, the
political parties used bribery, rigging of votes and violence to win and gain

1 tablespoon of gelatin powder. (You can find it in grocery stores or you can buy it online from
Amazon)
2 tablespoons of milk.
Knowledge about Double boiler. 
Make sure that you are taking milk that s a little warm so that the gelatin can get mixed with it easily.
Put both the ingredients in a bowl and warm up the mixture using double boiler process, or microwave
it for a few seconds. Use it on your face quickly (unless it s too hot to apply) because gelatin can
become rubbery. This mask will extract the impurities from your facial pores and also get rid of your
facial hairs.
4. DIY Orange Peel Off Mask
The recipe of orange peel off mask is an add on to the gelatin powder and milk mask I shared above.
Just put 2 teaspoons of orange juice in the mixture of gelatin powder and milk to obtain the numerous
skin benefits that orange holds.

Having Friends In Its A Wonderful Life
As this website once advised, if you want to feel rich, just count all the gifts you have that money can t
buy. This quote relates to my theme, having friends and family will never make anyone fail in life,
because it shows that having family and friends are something you can t buy and you need. For
instance, George having uncle Billy to guide him with Peter Bailey s business, George s dad,
throughout the movie, such as in staying later in order for George can go spend precious time with his
family. This evidence supports my theme because it shows how having friends can help you in many
ways, in this case uncle Billy helps George with his father business throughout the movie. Another
example was when George was about to throw himself into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This unique friend s name was Clarence he was George s guardian angel, that helped George realise
that his life mattered more than he even thought. For example, near the end of the movie, George
wanted to commit suicide because, Uncle Billy lost the 8,000 dollars he had to pay the bank.
Suddenly, Clarence appears out of the no where in order to save him from jumping into the ocean and
committing suicide. If it wasn t for Clarence, everyone who lived in the town and that George loved,
their lives would had turn completely around. Even though, Clarence was George s guardian angel, he
didn t need to thourgh himself overboard he could had talked to him. This shows how having friends
could procure a huge impact on your lives, even doing the craziest things such, jumping over a bridge
and into the ocean. At that point when Clarence shows him how him not being born, displays how
without him and his family could had not just changed his life and nevertheless his friends and family.,
Having friends and family can not just obtain a little impact on your lives, without you even knowing
they were capable of

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were slipstream soot marks on the right engine nacelle, which identifies as burning in flight. The right horizontal stabilizer had soot and tiny droplets of metal, this shows that the engine was burning during flight. The right prop showed span and chord wise striations with S compressions on the trailing edges. The blade tips were broken and jagged with missing pieces. It was determined during laboratory teardown showed that the right engine was producing power during impact. The left Engine nacelle showed evidence of vertical dark residue marks or soot trails. The prop was intact, the tips were bent backwards and showed very little sign of trailing edge compression. This possibly indicates that the engine was not running during the time of impact. It was also discovered that the fuel line support bracket showed propagation cracks along the bolt holes that connect it to the firewall. It did not separate from the firewall, and the fuel line showed no signs of loss of integrity. The cockpit and passenger areas were destroyed. All of the instruments were destroyed as well. The throttle quadrant was damaged, but it did show that all the levers, props, throttle, mixture and feathering levers were pushed forward into the panel. Initial cable tracing showed remaining integrity, but due to damage from the impact and the resulting fire, actuator positions were inclusive. • 3. The Center Can Not Hold My Journey Through Madness Literature Review The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness by Elyn R. Saks For this literature review, I decided to read an autobiographical novel called The Center Cannot Hold at the suggestion of my individual supervisor at Sharp Mesa Vista, who said it was the best first hand account of schizophrenia that she had ever read. The novel tells the story of Elyn Saks lifelong struggle with schizophrenia. For the most part, Elyn had a normal childhood with loving parents. However, as early as the age of 8 years old she began to experience some early symptoms such as intense compulsions, night terrors and even believing that houses were putting thoughts into her head. At twelve years old she stopped eating properly and lost a lot of weight. Even at a young age, Elyn believed that there was something terribly wrong with her and did her best to hide her condition from her family. As a teenager Elyn briefly experimented with drugs and was sent by her parents to an intense drug rehab after school program which taught her that psychotropic drugs of any kind are bad and that any personal obstacle can be overcome with sheer force of will. In part due to this lesson that Elyn learned early on, she spent decades resisting medications outright or secretly reducing her dosages after agreeing to take medications. This reminded me of the importance of assessing the meaning behind taking medications with clients. When Elyn went off to college at Vanderbilt, she describes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The characters had a major role because they were effective with the audience. The film was even more enhanced with the combination of the director and the casts. It affected me in such a way that I would react with how the characters would say and make decisions. However, the film lacks information about Sabine also an important character in the film. I was hoping more of a short inclusion of a psychological explanation of Sabine s reflection with what her parents are doing. I would want the question how does it affected her? to be answered, even with the last few scenes of the film where Jim and Catherine had died. FILM ANALYSIS The Title, Jules and Jim centralizes both on the main characters who both fell in love with the person who controlled and ruined their strengths and weaknesses their lives. The basis of the title of the film was mainly because of the friendship of the two men. This film focused on their relationship with the hindrance of a character: Catherine, in which gave the two a more meaningful and questionable friendship. The movie started with a short introduction of how the foundation of Jules and Jim s friendship flourished all throughout the years to be able to show and to keep the attachment with the audience of how these two have grown together but declined as they met Catherine. This foundation of their friendship served as the basis for the audience on how they will be judged and understood upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Summary Of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Kimmy Schmidt a young, naive girl who comes to New York City in escape from her kidnapper. Kimmy is seeking to make a name for herself in the big city with nothing. After discovering that she was a doomsday cult survivor, Kimmy tries to live every moment to the fullest. In Unbreakable:Kimmy Schmidt, Tina Fey, the director, portrays Kimmy as having an outwardly colorful soul after coming up from the bunker, but in reality Kimmy is just attempting to live the lost life of the teenager that she never could discovered in the bunker. An interview with E!, Ellie Kemper had this to say about her character Kimmy: Bad things will happen. That s what life is, but the ability to overcome that and surmount it and let those experiences define you is, I think, what makes [Kimmy] so inspiring. 1 Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is full of obscure and selfish characters. Many of these characters have no sense of a moral compass and each character comes with a unique backstory on life. While Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is written in a comedic style and is absolutely the goofiest show you will come accross, Tina Fey frequently aims and shoots at controversial subject targets, in order to have her opinion heard. Feminism and race/sexuallity play an immense in shaping the story structure for. Feminism is a major part of Kimmy s discovery of the new world , and Tina Fey makes sure she uncovers this in a very monotoned sense. • 6. Allergy Model Of Addiction There are many models of addiction. It appears that addiction is still not totally understood by the establishment due to the different interactions including everything from family dynamics, genetics, economic availability of substances to brain chemistry, morality, and social interactions as well as other criteria. The following is a sample of four different models of addiction with some of the positives and negatives of each model. The allergy model was born from Dr. Silkworth s opinion explained to the founder of AA. As Freed quoted Johnson in HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES ON ADDICTION Wilson left Towns Hospital with a new perspective on alcoholism: He was physically sick, not morally weak as most Americans labeled alcoholics (Freed, 2012, p. 33). The positive side of the allergy model was that the explanation that Silkworth gave to Bill Wilson removed the shame of moral failure that blocked Wilson from recovery. AA has been the most effective alcoholic recovery program to date. If the allergy model perspective has helped other alcoholics gain freedom that could be construed as a positive thing. The allergy model is a bit lacking though; it doesn t explain the allergy and why people tend toward something they re allergic to. Furthermore, it s just based upon a Dr. s opinion and not any data that he had compiled. The syndrome model seems to cover all its bases with its definition which is one of its benefits. According to Freed s understanding of the syndrome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between John Brown And Nat Turner John Brown was very similar to Nat Turner they both believed that they were chosen by god to lead slaves into freedom and if that required a fight then that was what they had to do. The trouble in Kansas began when the Nebraska Act was signed by President Pierce, this act engaged that people make a determination on whether Kansas territory should be free or slave. • 8. Life Is Defined By All The Living Creatures On Earth Life is defined by all the living creatures on earth. Biology is a broad topic of the study of life. Biology contains many different types of subjects within it that may be studied, like terrestrial or aquatic animals, or viruses and diseases. Here I will be talking about twelve of the millions of parts: Characteristics of life and kingdoms, biomolecules, nature and the importance of water, cells, energy and the carbon cycle, cell division through mitosis and meiosis, the central dogma through DNA/RNA and proteins, genetics and inheritance, evolution, energy through food webs and food chains, symbiotic relationships, and human impact. There are seven different characteristics of life. These characteristics are known as organization or structure, reproduction growth and development, adaptation, stimulus response, and evolution. After going through the list proving that the organism is alive, the organism is set into one of three domains: bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes. The eukarya are known to have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Bacteria are characterized by having a cell wall, by made from peptidoglycan. Archaea are characterized by having no nucleus, but having a cell wall that isn t made from peptidoglycan. All of the eukarya are organized into different groups called taxes or taxis (Anderson). Alberti wrote his book in dialogue form, featuring the elder Giannozzo conversing with the young Leonardo. Giannozzo tells Lionardo: With every expenditure one must only be sure that the cost is no greater or heavier or larger than is needed, yet no less than honor requires. • 10. The Resurrection Of Jesus Overall, the events of the resurrection must have been a period of great confusion and bewilderment to Jesus followers. Even though Jesus followers had knowledge of the resurrection from the Scriptures and Jesus own personal testimony and prophecies (Matthew 16:21; 20:17), they still did not understand, at least in the beginning. But how quickly that confusion and bewilderment turned to joy after their eyes were opened. When I became a true follower of Jesus many years ago, I can remember the joy that I felt in having my eyes opened. I like to think that the joy I experienced was the same joy Jesus followers experienced after the resurrection. Unfortunately, there are not many details concerning the actual resurrection. From the division of chores within a household, to asking one s boss for a raise, we ve all learned the basic skills of negotiation. A national bestseller, Getting to Yes, introduces the method of principled negotiation, a form of alternative dispute resolutions as opposed to the common method of positional bargaining. Within the book, four basic elements of principled negotiation are stressed; separate the people from the problem, focus on interests instead of positions, invest options for mutual gain, and insist on using objective criteria. Following this section of the book are suggestions for problems that may occur and finally a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, I found these guidelines to be oversimplified and completely void of the fact that human s are inapt to simply putting their feelings aside. Also, following the suggestions such as using symbolic gestures, an example being to ‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause, the method of separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it makes way for a better relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by the other. The second part of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. Interests refer to the result needed, while positions refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to ideal conflict and negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough, and where positions can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and even unfavourable. In the case of a ‘victim in conflict, one can usually bargain more than they ‘need for their damages. Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder (Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him, Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V), Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s), the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). They proclaim portions of which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never mentioned or any other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more likely to send healthy mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted gospel. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe s writings in many ways reflect the unique lives that they lived, and having an understanding of the two poets backgrounds can assist a reader in dissecting their manuscripts. Comparing works from the two is an easy task to handle if an avid reader decides to pursue it, and even though they lived under adverse conditions they have a way of shaping history into an intricate fashion of delicate, dark and sophisticated writing. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe are different in persona and literacy, but when a reader processes more of their works, one can understand how these two writers helped shape poetry for generations after and still possess an impact on the literary world. Phillis Wheatley was a young African American girl, brought to America at the age of seven to be a slave. In her time maturing in the Wheatley household, young Phillis grew rapidly intellectually and spiritually. Her faith in God and His divine nature is what inspired Wheatley to write a prominent subject in her poem On Being Brought from Africa to America. • 36. For Offred Freedom, like everything else, is relative. p. 267 My Reaction: I completely agree with this point, although I hadn t previously given the statement much thought. With context, the definition of freedom definitely changes. This got me thinking, is there even a true definition of freedom? For Offred, her old life became the definition of freedom, but prior to the Gileadean regime, it was something else. Maybe freedom could be defined as the life in our dreams, but as you get closer to achieving that dream, a new dream comes into play. The relativity associated with freedom, I think, is what makes freedom so hard to define. In my opinion, a better description of freedom would be what freedom isn t as we know what we don t want even if we don t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I resign my body freely, to the uses of others. They can do what they like with me. I am abject. I feel, for the first time, their true power. p. 331 My Reaction: She surrendered. She followed Moira s footsteps. I knew there was a very high possibility that she will surrender to this system and prepared myself for it, but it surprised me nonetheless. I wish I could say that Offred is selfish and weak, but I can t. I hate her situation and I m just reading about it. She had to live through it and I m sure coming to this decision was even harder for her considering how much pressure and fear it took to crack her. I don t think I have the right to say that she made the wrong choice here by choosing to value her own life more than resisting the system but I can t say I appreciate her hypocrisy for criticizing Moira then proceeding to do the same herself. I hope I m never put into such a situation, but I still wonder how I would react to it. Would I be an Offred, resisting quietly, all just to give up in the end? • 37. The Benefits Of Homework Cooper defines homework as task assigned to students by school teachers that are meant to be carried out during non school hour. (Cooper 2015) However, is it effective enough to justify its extension of the six hours of school students experience each weekday? As Bennett explains in Must Won t Do It! , Much attention is placed on helping students develop as complex and creative thinkers, yet many classrooms continue to use learning structures without examining their effectiveness. This is often the case with homework. Research findings on the effectiveness of homework are mixed, and few studies have examined students and educators perspectives on the benefits of homework as a learning structure (Bennet). Our current structure of homework may be achieving the opposite of what it needs to do. More than any other aspect of education, homework has been the cause of more friction between schools and home and becomes the prime battlefield when schools, families, and communities view one another as adversaries. Recent homework debates in this country have centered on questions of how much homework at which grades produce what kinds of learning gains. A recent analysis of homework research by the Center for Public Education (2007) found that homework at the elementary level is counterproductive, while homework in middle and high school shows some correlation with small increases in test scores. But those findings do not hold across the board. Homework may have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Perfection in Artist of the Beautiful, Rappaccini s Daughter, Birthmark and Prophetic Pictures In four of Hawthorne s stories there is a struggle for power and control as a vehicle to obtain perfection or beauty. In The Artist of the Beautiful , Rappaccini s Daughter , The Birthmark and The Prophetic Pictures the characters are controlled by their desire for perfection in their creations, but they do not achieve their goals without sacrifice. In The Artist of the Beautiful Owen is spends years perfecting his creation. His quest for the Beautiful controls him. His desire for knowledge through scientific experimentation is the central purpose of his life. According to Baglioni he cares infinitely more for science than for mankind . By binding his daughter to the poisonous garden Rappaccini had used his power as a scientist to take away her freedom. Beatrice has no power, she is helpless. There was an awful doom...the effect of my father s fatal love of science, which estranged me from all society of my kind . Unfortunately she is also the victim of Baglioni s quest for power and revenge against her father. Baglioni s power, convincing Giovanni that Beatrice could be saved, conquers even Rappaccini s control. In their obsessive pursuit of knowledge and power as a means of scientific control Rappaccini and Baglioni sacrifice Beatrice (and even Giovanni). They all overstep their boundaries by using her and only when she kills herself does Beatrice reclaim the power over her own life. In the pursuit of knowledge and power great sacrifices are made. But unlike The Artist of the Beautiful the person who makes the sacrifice (Beatrice) has no choice. She is punished and the men who would use her as a means of control in life are not. We again see the quest for perfection on the part of a scientifically minded person in The Birthmark . Alymer s obsessive thoughts and determination to free his wife and himself from the birthmark prove to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Essay on Massai Culture Massai Culture I have chosen my paper on the African Cattle People, specifically the Massai Culture. The Massai culture seemed to have more than meets the eye when we studied them in class, so I had to venture on to a website to see what else I could find out about them. In general, the Massai have several practices: circumcision and clitoridectomy, an age group system, shaving of the heads of women, extraction of two lower front teeth, the one legged stance of the heron, and the use of spit in greeting and benediction. The Massai s religion, laibons, circumcisions, cattle, warriors, elders and cattle raiding were just a few characteristics of their culture, making themselves unique of all the rest of the world. Speaking first of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Engai had three children, and he gave each a gift. The first child received and arrow to make his living by hunting, the second a hoe to dig the land and grow crops, and the third a stick to use in herding cattle. And the third son, whose name was Natero Kop, was the father of the Massai. I just find it crazy how these certain cultures can come up with stories, theories or whatever it is they are coming up with. And to believe that they entrusted all their faith and never were led astray from their religion, makes me develop a strong respect for their culture. In studying the Massai in class I became aware of the strong representation that cattle made in the Massai culture. The people would go as far as naming the cattle as if they were their own pets. The believed that cattle were the next best things to God, cattle were everything. Since the Massai were semi nomadic pastoralists, this meant they would travel searching for new grazing pastures. Going back to their Gods; Massai believe that the Rain God Engai granted all cattle to them for safe keeping when the earth and sky split. The bond between the Massai and the cattle was inseparable. The Massai knew each cattle by voice, color and eye. The Massai would slice the ears of the cattle in a certain way so they can recognize that it belongs to a certain clan. The cattle would provide the following for the Massai: milk; blood; a simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Priestley I have chosen to write my essay about Mr.Arthur Birling and Mrs. Sheila Birling. I have chosen these characters because they have different views on the events concerning Eva Smith. Sheila, for instance, felt extremely regretful about the incident involving the sacking of Eva Smith and we can tell this because she says And I m desperately sorry neither did she show any relief after hearing that the inspector was a hoax. Arthur Birling, however, blamed Eva entirely for getting sacked from his factory and also displayed great relief when hearing that the inspector was a fake, This makes a difference, y know. She then tries to justify herself to the rest of the group by imitating what she may have been thinking, as if to say doesn t she look awful but to no success. Mr. Birling on the other hand, expresses his indifference and doesn t change his mind, I can t expect any responsibility. He refers to her as this girl , now about this girl . He obviously just thinks of her as a silly little girl without a life or feelings. The Inspector tries to make him feel guilty by putting the facts bluntly and saying You started it. She wanted twenty five shillings a week instead of twenty two and sixpence. You made her pay a heavy price for that. I agree with the inspector and think that if he had just taken the liberty to find out why she was so desperate for the increase in salary it may have made him see things a bit differently and even give her the raise. As for Sheila, I think she treated Eva terribly and if the rest of the characters had shown some acknowledgement to Sheila s justification of what she did to Eva Sheila may not have been so quick to express regret. Despite Sheila s obvious signs of regret the inspector stills try to make her feel bad by saying things like, yes but you can t. It is too late. She is dead. He puts the facts very bluntly and ... • 43. Factors Of Imperialism In Nigeria The people of Nigeria are divided into three ethnic groups the Hausa Fulani, the Yoruba, and the Igbo. During imperialism, Nigeria was a colony of Great Britain and ruled by indirect control. The Hausa Fulani would govern their region with their language and Islam religion. Whereas, the other two regions in the south adopted Christianity and European ways and helped govern their own regions. When Britain decided to withdraw from the colony in 1960, they set up a Nigerian Federal State with a central government and separate governments for each of the three regions. The Niger River Delta region was rich in mineral oil deposits and they also produced palm oil, coffee, and tin for export. The economy of the new nation was largely dependent on selling oil production leases to foreign companies and money earned from export of oil. Since, each region had its own government, the politicians were focused on channeling the wealth from the sale of oil into their own region so as to benefit themselves, their followers and their own regions. This gave rise to competition, greed for oil money and corruption among politicians. The party in power at the central government controlled the oil leases, the import licenses, the construction job projects, and the government jobs. They also got the bribes from giving out these contracts. When, the first national election happened in 1964, the political parties used bribery, rigging of votes and violence to win and gain ... For instance, George having uncle Billy to guide him with Peter Bailey s business, George s dad, throughout the movie, such as in staying later in order for George can go spend precious time with his family.
